Kuen noticed how quickly Kiri had fallen asleep on the library couch. It had not surprised him though, he could tell her energy levels were low even after eating because of all of her traveling. When he knew she was at her deepest dreams, he sat down at the desk and pulled out the large leather bound book. He flipped through the pages and read about his ancestors and their magical abilities to see what the Sins would possibly want a magi for.

Through his search he found information on the camps, why they had started and who by. He realized that it was just one large experiment that had failed from the beginning and was continuing to kill lives every day. Kuen was ashamed to know that the camps were split into sections. What the people of Raz'ira empire knew was completely wrong about the camps. They were not just prison cells, they were torture zones and experimental areas that killed many people. Most people didn't even know of the Death Isle that the camps had, which were just mounds of dead bodies dumped on there small islands that were never used by the Casta country to begin with. He was disgusted with everything that he was learning. How could people be so cruel? He hoped that his parents were still alive, it sounded like they would not last more than two years in this type of environment. Hopefully, he was not too late.

Kiri stirred slightly, her mind fuzzy. She felt like she had a weird dream, but any details of it slipped away with her returning awareness. Yawning widely, she sat up and stretched, not quite knowing where she was yet. Oh yeah...I'm with Kuen...wow this is a huge room..., she thought drowsily as she looked around. From the looks of it, she had been asleep for a while, it was dark outside, and the fire was lit now. She smiled: she liked the warmth. Kuen was studying something, and hadn't seemed to realise she was awake yet. He was too absorbed in that weird book of his.

Kuen had been studying for hours, and by the time Kiri had stirred had managed to gain a dozen more books on the desk he sat at. He had located a map in one of the books that showed the camps on them instead of just islands He was disappointed to see that the armies of Casta and the Camps were in the same general location. He also learned that traveling to the camps were almost impossible without becoming a citizen by choice or force. It was truly and awful place for people to even attempt living there.

A long overdue stressful sigh escaped his lips and he ran his hand through his hair. It had been so long since he had seen his parents and with this research he may never see them to begin with. His prayers were never answered for their safe return, and now he believed them to be long dead. But he would not stop until he found out himself, he had to know the truth about his parents and possibly even put a stop to the Sin's operations within the Casta Empire.

Kiri couldn't contain her curiosity any longer, she had to find out what Kuen was studying. So she approached the desk, sitting on the end of it, her head tilted slightly in puzzlement at the words on the page. She might have recognised the odd symbols from her home, but that didn't mean she could read them. She doubted that many people could...although she thought she could sort of understand a couple of phrases here and there. "What's that say?", she asked, pointing out a passage that had a picture of a woman under it. The woman looked a little like her, but older looking. She was pretty, but sad looking. Like she'd lost someone...

(read OOC page for explanation)

Kuen glanced down to the page that she had indicated. It had been a long time since he had seen her face and name in a book, but it had not surprised him that he would find her in this one, for she was one of the main power sources behind destroying the magi's almost a hundred or so years ago. "That is Vera." He told her, his voice holding a hint of sadness as he spoke her name. "She was the queen of the underwater cities in the ocean to the far southwest." The man's eyes grew more distant and pained as he thought about her. "She did not believe in what the magi's were doing, and after one had betrayed not only her but her trust, she turned back on him. Beginning a war that should have never started, and ended with the near extinction of one species... magis."

Kuen's explaination stirred something in Kiri, almost like a faint memory, though it felt more like a dream. She felt sad for some reason, and saw that same sadness reflected in Kuen's eyes. It suddenly fell into place. Kuen was the one that woman had lost, the reason why she looked so sad in the portrait. Had Kuen betrayed her? He didn't seem like the type. But Rebecca had spoke about Kuen's 'tendancies', so maybe she wasn't as off-base as she thought she was? She didn't want to believe it, didn't want to see the bad in people. "She still loved you though, I'm sure.", she said, not knowing exactly why. It was just a feeling she had. "Look at the picture, she looks so sad and lonely. If she had hated you after whatever happened, she wouldn't look like that. She would be angry looking instead. So...I think, in her heart, she regretted what she had to do, though she didn't want to admit it.", it didn't seem like it was Kiri talking anymore, more like someone else. She couldn't explain it, but it felt like what she was explaining was her own feelings as well, not just what she thought of all of this.

Kiri had figured as much, that they would have to get in the same way everyone else did. That worried her: if she couldn't use her magick, then there was no way she could defend herself. Her tiny frame wasn't exactly built for physical combat. If it came to a fight, she would be in big trouble. And if that wasn't an understatement, Kiri didn't know what was. She wouldn't let her fear show though. "Okay then, when do you want to leave? As soon as possible? And what if we find anyone else? Do we save them too?", she asked. If they were saving Kuen's parents, then the least they could do is try and get as many others out as they could.

"I see...well, let's go then...", Kiri said, almost sounding sad. She wanted to help people, but she could see Kuen's point. If they tried getting too many people out, then there was a good chance that they wouldn't get out. That made her sad, but they would just have to wait and see what would happen when they got there. But it was the thought of the horses that frightened her. There had never been any use for them on the islands, and as such she had never ridden one before. The first time she had was when she got to the mainland, and even then it was only for a short distance. She had mainly stuck to canals and travelling on foot after that. The thought of travelling by horse for a long distance, quite frankly scared her.

Kiri groaned when Kuen told her exactly how long this was going to take. She had just spent almost two weeks travelling to get here in the first place! Now she was facing another week of it...Still, she held back any complaints she had and followed Kuen out of the library. "What do you mean, make us both look human? In case you haven't noticed, I am human in every way shape and form. You're the one they're looking for.", she asked, genuinly wondering what he meant.

"Ah...I get it...sorta. No, not really, 'cept the part about the ropes. That bit's fine, I can get out of those easily, even without magick. I'm pretty flexible.", Kiri sounded proud with herself for that. Being tiny and pixie-like helped at times. She didn't really like being small normally, but it had been useful on the islands, where there had been so many intriguing little caves and crevices that normal-sized people couldn't even hope to squeeze into. That part was easy for Kiri, her practically being a twig and all. And because she looked like a child, people often felt bad about hurting her, especially when she 'did the eyes' as her brother had remarked. It was difficult to stay mad with Kiri, or even contemplate doing anything to upset her when she did that. Fake tears helped too. Kiri could be very devious at times...

Kiri's eyes went huge at the sheer size of the horse that was brought out. She couldn't even see over it! Then again, she was tiny, so that was no surprise.
Kuen suggested they get going, and Kiri nodded, hesitantly moving forwards towards the beast. She knew it was silly to be scared of it, but she just wasn't used to them. And this particular one could easily crush her, if it wanted to.
"O-Okay then...let's go.", she answered him, hating that her voice betrayed her fears. She had come here for adventure, but it seemed that she was getting into something much deeper than she had planned.

Kuen just smiled at Kiri, wrapping his hand around her wrists and pulling up up into the saddle right in front of him. "Don't worry, Perch is a good horse." Kuen assured her, wrapping his arms around the girl and then clicking at the horse to move forward. The grey-white horse went slow at first, making sure that everyone was safe on his back before going into a soft trout as told by his master rider.

Aria, still in plenty of pain, reached over his head and pulled herself up onto his back. Her delicate arms were deceiving as they held tightly around his neck. She snuggled her head into his beautiful spotted coat and took in a deep breath of his musk. Skye did not smell of wolf, but something deeper, cleaner like winter's air, and it made her smile. She might have picked the perfect person to escape the Casta Camps with, her only hope was that her father and tribe were doing alright.

The magi had turned his back to both Kiri and Rei, while he checked Perch over for any wounds. He noticed a new nicks on his legs from the twigs lashing at him during their gallop, but all together deemed that the horse would be perfectly alright by morning. It was not hard to notice that his shoulders and back were a little tense, but that was normal for a horse that was near a demonic presence. Kuen rubbed his hand down the horse's now bare back and legs to clam him a bit before thinking of Vira. It was not often that the woman of the ocean came to his thoughts, but it seemed that Kiri and stress was starting to bring her up more often.

Shaking his head, the dark haired man let the horse go to graze in the grasses near them before looking at the the Shadrin fire that the demon made. He was happy to see that he chose a wood that produced a dark flame instead of a bright one, but was not happy that it was Shadrin. Some people reacted poorly to the dark demonic wood, though he doubted that Kiri would be exposed to it like a normal human. Her magic should keep her safe from the deep poisonous dreams Shadrin could produce.

"Kiri..." Kuen held his hand out to her. "We will came out near Perch, away from the demon and his wood." He said, his voice staying calm but untrusting. He waited for her to take his hand before drawing her in close and walking out a far distance to be in the open next to Perch before beginning a spell that made a tent for them both to sleep in. Though the tent was very deceiving, being that it was small on the outside but was as big as a two-bedroom town house in Raz'ira.
