History:

Kalven, or Kal, was born in the Subdera System, in the Cortex Cluster, on the planet Neura. There are two other planets in the system, Plura and Electra, and all three have been terraformed to be habitable. Each planet was terraformed to be different though. Electra is a giant city interweaved with a jungle, Plura is a snowy landscape that is extremely cold, and Neura is the hot desert planet. Kal grew up with a younger brother and a mother, but their father vanished before they got too old. He was actually arrested, tortured, and then imprisoned by the Dominion for "Writing Terrorist Propaganda and Inciting Terrorist Activity", and is currently being held at an undisclosed location to avoid "Terrorists from bombing the whole place to free him". Their mother told them the truth though, despite the warnings.

When they got older, their mother was then kidnapped and sold into slavery, forcing the two brothers to be on their own. They worked on salvaging wrecks near the trio of planets, that is until one day they discovered a big find. An old ship in a derelict wreak. It had been retrofitted with some new parts to make it work, and the interior had been redone several times over. It was at once a Slaver and Smuggling vessel, but for some reason it was stashed on a destroyed Dominion Command Cruiser out in the middle of nowhere, just near an old asteroid belt. On the side, it was named a simple but accurate name: Sunhopper.

The two of them took the Sunhopper, and brought the thing back up to working condition. It took a few tweaks there, and at some points it seemed like they actually had to speak and reason with it to get it to do stuff in the beginning as crazy as it sounds, but eventually the ship was ready for work. And then, they learned why it was called the Sunhopper: Its unique design let it slingshot off one star and towards another star system, essentially sun hopping.

They formed the Fires of Terra Merc Group in order to take all manner of jobs, and explore the galaxy. As well as doing what they believed to be what is truly right, morals they gained after what happened to their parents. They started causing all sorts of trouble too though. Eventually, the Dominion caught up with them though, and the conflict resulted in the death of Kalven's brother after being betrayed by a nasty bounty hunter.

He promised he would keep the fight going though, and try to bring some peace and order to the galaxy, even if that meant taking a few odd jobs to fund it. And thus, the Fires of Terra became an official merc group....and what we see today.
