Our Haven

Our Haven

School at East Shore High School is anything but normal, but sometimes it's one of the safest places a kid can go to.

1,349 readers have visited Our Haven since RPGLoVeR213 created it.

Introduction

Walking down a dark alley, looking behind youself to see if you were followed, afraid of what will go down once you get to the end of the alleyway, feeling the gun sitting loaded in your pocket ready for what was going to happen, the sweat rolling down your face as you meet the others, and the gunshot still rings in your ear. You have highschool in the morning.

Seven Percent of teens say they belong to a gang. The average age is seventeen years old.

Walking into your boyfriend's home feeling as much a stranger as anyone else, praying to God he's not home or asleep in his bedroom as you carefully slither up the steps, flinching as your foot hits the bottle and a hot tear rolling down your cheek as you barrel down the steps, and loud footsteps ring in your ears as he beats you until you're bearly conscious. You have highschool in the morning.

Eighty Percent of girls say that they have been in an abusive relationship. Thirty Percent of women have been murdered by their husband or boyfriend.

Walking into your dumpy apartment, the smell of alcohol and drugs in the air, your ear proudly displaying an industrial given at a rave, the stench of alcohol still in your breath as you take some pills for a hangover, needles haphazardly laid on your table with bottles of sterilizer, and the letter you got from your rich aunt has five hundred for the monthly rent. You have highschool in the morning.

Twenty-Five Percent of Emancipated Youth have spent at least one night homeless. Emancipated Youth have an average $6,000 a year, under the national poverty line of $7,890.

Walking into your foster home, ten other children taking every bit of attention away from you, having to do things on your own while being yelled at for your terrible grades, getting into fights, trying to hide your record from your parents by calling your older brother, and desperate for attention. You have highschool in the morning.

Fifty-Nine Percent of child abuse is neglect. Millions of children are victims of neglect and non-fatal abuse.

Walking onto the bridge, pulling your brother from the edge to make sure he doesn't jump off, wrapping him in a warm sweater, spending the night on the cold bridge not able to move him, holding on like your going to lose him if you don't and not wanting to lose another brother. You have highschool in the morning.

Suicide is the third leading cause of death in adolescants. Teenage males are five times more likely to die from suicide.

Walking into your own home hearing the yells instantly, your father walking out on you and your mother, your mother trying to explain, you walk out of the house to meet your friends for a hit, yelling out your life's problems and your parent's divorce, getting high second by second, and waiting in the bushes for the scent to waver off. You have highschool in the morning.

Fourty Percent of children in America are raised without their fathers. Teenagers in a divorce are two times more likely to drop out of highschool.

Sound familiar?

At East Shore High School, Home of the White Waves, there are kids from very ethnicity, background, and city. Most are rich from the older actresses and models from Beverly Hills. The Los Angeles school is not far from the beach, and has its on surfing and fishing team. The school has funders for every department, and has the top scores for California. But the school has a bad history. Like most of the students.

Like its testing scores, the drop-out rate is very high. They make up for it with three thousand students and classes with thirty or more. There are empanicated teenagers, trying to keep their own apartments with cruddy jobs. There are divorced parent's children, who are mostly dilequents or depressed thinking it's their fault. There are gang members, hoping they won't get caught with the gun in their jackets. The neglect kids, who are desperate for attention. The abused kids, trying to find somewhere safe. Clichè bubbly blonde cheerleaders mixed with slutty brunette popular girls, with emo kids and druggies. Add your nerds who aren't so ugly with jocks who are actually smart, you got ESHS.

This is how you play it. One of the emancipated alocoholics? Or a good, smart kid?

I was just curious as to what type of characters you want for this RP. Do you want a character to fit every "stereotype"?
