Usually, you'd think that exorcists are the killers of demons? They exorcise them will scrolls and papers and seal them inside capsule so they may never come out to harm anyone. You'd think that they were trained to do these things and only exorcists would know about demons and their jobs. Heh, that was the old days.
Now, current time, exorcists are different. Most exorcists still follow the old way of killing off demons to protect the city. 85% of them actually. But the other 15% is almost the exact opposite. Instead of exorcising the demons, these exorcists form pacts with them. It's a taboo that leaves a cursed mark on the exorcist, but most of them do it for a good reason.
The doors of hell were shut many years ago by many powerful exorcists, and it's not about to open once more.
You'd think that demons live in Hell, right? Meh, close enough. Demons spawn from certain strong emotions, items, abandonment, feelings, etc. The true demons are from Hell, and so far, none have made it out. Until now. The demons from Hell are roaming among the humans in plain sight. Though there are only a mere few hundred in the city, it still causes more trouble than though.
The old exorcists who follow the traditional way think that killing the demons in the world, those not from Hell, will solve the problem of Hell breaking loose. That's only making things worse.
The true exorcists know that the demons are also quite afraid of Hell opening to Earth, so to protect the city both races hold dear, they form pacts, strengthening one another. Hopefully, this will be enough to keep the chains on Hell strong. If not... well... that'll be up to your imagination for now.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 3 authors
Haruka was standing on one of the tall buildings and looking down on one of the exorcists roaming where he'd usually stay the night at or gamble with the others of his race, "What's a human doing here..." He growled angrily, hating the stench and always suspecting before acting friendly because of past experiences, "There's not any more... is there? Neh, Sheena, there aren't any more, are there?"
The short demon looked up at her own demon friend and said with a normal smile, "I'm afraid I haven't done any checks yet. You're free to search yourself, but I'm not looking for any fights today. I'm most likely going to stay out of their sights, but keep on eye on them."
"You're confusing me..." Haruka eyed her strangely and sighed while watching the exorcist roam around in his territory, "Can't you just go down there and kill him already? I'm think I'm done with making human friends, especially exorcists..."
"Think of it as a war." Sheena answered, already turning her back and walking down the stairs, but knowing not to be seen, "If any exorcist makes a move on us first, then I'll be the person to put everything back into order. Trust me with that child, alright?" She asked, but before he could even answer to the woman, she had already disappeared to look after the exorcist.
Haruka paused for a while, before then murmuring, "Fine..." He was never trusting towards exorcists anymore. He only knew a few exorcists and humans he actually liked or trusted, and he wasn't very enthusiastic about meeting anymore since he was betrayed more than once to form a pact or to be killed.
Devan skillfully took out a pistol from his coat, and fired it with great accuracy. The gun created no sound, as it was only a gun in spiritual form and cannot be seen by normal humans. It was only visible to people like him, those who were able to see spirits.
The bullet struck the succubus in her right leg, thus making her immobile. As Devan approached the succubus, she smiled and did her last trick. She smiled urged Devan closer. "You... wouldn't kill someone like... me... would you?" she whispered into his ear, doing her best as she was tired and fatigued.
One second. Only one second. That's all it took for Devan to lower his guard, as his weakness was relationships with girls. The succubus took advantage of this chance and flipped Devan so that she was on top. "Of course not... You wouldn't dare to hit someone you're attracted to." The succubus smiled, thinking she had won. Then, suddenly, Devan drew out the other pistol from ehind his back, and fired the bullet straight through the succubus's heart. She had a shocked expression on her face, then turned to dust that was blown away minutes later.
Devan didn't lay there. He stood up, brushed himself off, then walked. It was if nothing had happened. Well, to him, this was just the norm. He was, after all, hated and feared by most demons and spirits. They all knew better than to confront him. At least, the majority of them.
Sheena, once reaching the bottom of the stairs of the tall building in the alley, looked around and saw that she hadn't seen a single sign of the exorcist, "Hmm? Where'd the child go..." She wondered aloud to herself. Within a mere split second, she saw something leap past her eyes that was black and shadowy. Without thinking, she raised her hand to grab her partner's attention, and ran off, chasing the other demon that wasn't of her kind, 'What's one of those doing in this area...' She thought to herself with a frown.
Haruka was just about to take a nap in his own little section in the alley until he heard the firing of a gun and leapt up from his sleeping position and searched the area, mostly the dark alley of his, but his eyes also found the two exorcists in the broad day light, "There are two of them?" He growled, growing more hatred the more he looked. But before he could even try and go after the two, he saw a hand motion in the corner of his eye, and turned towards the demon Sheena was hunting, "This is the second one this week...They're growing." He muttered to himself with disgust as he jumped from the building and joined the hunt.
Naota turned to his side and saw a pile of dust crumbling next to him, "I'm guessing that's another demon." He said without drawing his eyes, "You're really that certain that a simple demon like that had to be killed? You couldn't spare a life?" He asked, then looking at Devan a bit seriously. He never took too much of a liking to people who killed either one of both demons unless it was necessary. He tried to avoid it at all costs.
Behind him, a loud explosion occurred. Naota turned around and saw a car catch on fire, and then seemed to have burst from the fuel. Humans only saw the fire and flames in the air, nothing more, but as an exorcists, he saw three demons now, two looking like regular ones he'd never go after, and the one that he was interrupted in killing, "Hey, kid," He looked back at Devan, "That one." He pointed at the leaping shadow aside from the other two, "Only that one, got it? Who ever gets the kill first wins." He smirked before dashing off for the one demon he had his eyes one, and the only demon he had his eyes on.
She was sent here by her grandfather due to spike in demons. She keep to the old ways of her people of watching what was going on be for acting. Her tools where of the old way and passed down for over 400 years. Some tools she learned to make. Her long jacket went to her ankles covering her clothing. But under that jacket where simple boots, a white shirt with a home made leather vest and jewelry that was hand made. Her long black hair pulled back with a long leather tie. Two stone daggers rested at her side ready for use along with her bow and a few arrows.
She keep to the shadows watching the other two hunters they seemed disorganized to her and unsure of what they where doing. It was clear they really had no plan set in to place but run in and attack. One of them seemed just to kill any demon on sight with out care the other not so much. This did not always make the best mix for things. It could do damage to a team and bring it down. She made mental notes on how they worked and what there skills seemed to be. This would help her in the long run. She was trained to be leader and take control of things. Even when it was a team of all males. She was going to wait this out until she need to step in and help.
His menacing eyes locked on to the sight of the newcomer, seeing if he would react. Instead, an explosion occured from behind the man. A car had blown up because of the work of demons. However, Devan's eyes still didn't focus on anything else but this newcomer, who turned around and challenged Devan. "Hey, kid." He said, pointing to one of three demons. "That one, only that one. Got it? Who ever gets the kill first wins." Devan didn't take the challenge as the boy smirked and went off to kill the targeted demon. Instead, Devan looked at the two demons from the car crash, who were facing him, and drew a pistol and his sword.
"He has his kill, I have mine." Devan muttered, before the fight began between the two demons and him. Amazingly enough, he wasn't noticed by other humans; they were all running away in fear of the unexplained car crash. As soon as the fight is over, I have to run away... Again... Devan thought. Just like every other freaking time...
Sheena heard one of her own kind's words echo through her head. It sounded frightened, and pained, and it hurt her to listen to it. She turned around to tell Haruka to ignore the Hell demon, but by the time she did, he was already gone, into the city and chasing the same demon still. She gritted her teeth quietly, ' Is it anther exorcist...?' She had to keep her word. If the humans, or exorcists hurt her kind even in the slightest way, it would mean a battle to the death. Without thinking, she sprinted out of her dark ally way and searched for her own, and when she found them, she saw another exorcist now hunting them, 'So there were two...' She thought before yelling out to this traditional exorcist, "I think you would be best off not hunting my kind child." She shot a glare at Devan, unlike her usual behavior.
Haruka didn't care anymore that his partner had left her. Haruka didn't really care for those minor demons of his either. All he was set on was hunting the one demon that came from Hell itself, unlike him and the others. They caused catastrophe, for humans, exorcists, and even them, and he didn't take kindly to it. In fact, he was so keen on killing this other demon that he didn't pay any attention to the three exorcists he passed by, two being young men, and one being a young woman. In his head, it was always Hell demons, exorcists, then demons to prioritize, and in this case, it was the demon he first had to take down.
She moved from the shadows taking each step with care. From always watching things she moved to take on the one that need to be taken out small demons where nothing knew to her it was the ones from the deepest part of the shadow world she went after. They had to be taken out fast. Still none the less she made her self look like something that one did not have to worry about. She hummed spells under her breath as her fingers played with an arrow. She was a perfect shot and did not worry about missing. She new each arrow for she made them by hand and cast spells on them. Now thing was to find out what level this demon was along with rank. It liked fire so water would be good to use on it.
She did not care if she was fallowing a demon to find another demon she was fine with that as long as she got the job done. She could not help but sigh at how blind people where to what was right in front of them. The fact they just watched the fire as the unseen world went by them.
"I think you would be best off not hunting my kind child." Normally, Devan wouldn't mind the voice; he'd just keep doing his job. However, this was, again, another demon. Devan stopped his gun and turned to the demon that spoke. A female, but not a succubus. Good... Devan thought. I had enough of those for one day.... He examined the demon. White clothes that revealed the skin pf her legs and side of her arms, a staff, and green, long hair. Okay, maybe not a succubus, but she's still cute... Devan mentally added. It isn't like Devan can't comment on someone else's appearance. "Out of the way." Devan called. "I won't hunt you if you aren't doing anything."
Haruka noticed that the other exorcist had stopped. It made him feel as if he won in some way, seeing how he was still proceeding to find this demon from Hell when the actually exorcist gave up. It was a small one, but almost a whole 10 of his kind went racing for it because they were more dangerous than seen. Not only that, but this demon seemed to be light on it's feet, going slightly faster than the whole group itself. He then found out that another exorcist was following the group as he turned his head and shouted, "Hey! Kid! What do you think you're doing! This is our kill!" He yelled at Inali, not wanting to give something he hunted to an exorcist.
Sheena shook her head slowly, standing her group and not changing the least bit, but now since she figured this exorcist didn't kill her straight out of no where, she put on a small smile, "I'm afraid you'd have to do the same, child." She said, calling almost everyone a child because she knew she was at least a couple hundred years older than any exorcist or human, "My kin aren't the type of demons you should be hunting. I'd be happy to back down without a fight as long as you do the same." Of course, there are no guarantee that either of them would do it, but she always made risky bets, whether they were lost or won.
She did not care who got the so called kill as long as things got done. That i all that really mattered to her. So knew many times demons took care of there own hunting them down and doing what was need and she was fine with that. It made things more simple and let her get back to her studies. She wanted to be the best she could and that meant lots of studding and work. She was still in training but was sent out in to the field for jobs.
"Any demon that disrupts the peace should be punished." Devan responded back, coldly. "I don't hunt a demon sitting down and picking his toenails. That's the only mercy I give them. Thus, I won't fight you unless you do something completely stupid or attack me." A voice in the back of his head whispered into his mind. that voice was the form of something like a sixth sense for demons, and that voice is telling him that matters are already being handled. Devan turned around and walked without a word. This was the second time this week that the exorcist had failed in exorcism, in any kind of way.
Sheena seemed to frown at his words once the exorcist turned his back on her. She never left things unfinished, and especially when an exorcist was accusing her own race about thing that was by accident, and speaking badly about them when they weren't what a traditional exorcist would think they were. So stubbornly, she followed, keeping her distance since she knew it could cause trouble, but close enough so her voice was clear, "Though I said I wasn't willing to fight, that doesn't mean I take kindly to false insults. You are a traditional exorcists then I am guessing. I would like to make something clear, my race doesn't cause the trouble you've been trying to track down, and I am no woman to lie." She said honestly. Even though she didn't favor exorcists, she never lied unless she was put into a terrible position.
Naota started to walk back, thinking of going back into that alley to look for another demon from Hell, but then noticing that a female exorcist was now following the group of demons to find the first one he was hunting, "She won't catch up with them... they're far too fast." He sighed, and once turning straight again, he saw Devan walking away from another female demon who didn't seem to back down, "I thought traditional exorcists hated demons and would kill any... Ah, whatever. Not my concern for the time being." He said, guessing that none of the regular demons were put into any harm yet. So without saying a word, he brushed shoulders with Devan, and the demon, and continued walking, deciding to head home for the day.
She knew being human she would not be able to keep up with the speed of the demons but that did not matter she had a trick she could use to change the game. That over sized raven flew over her casting a large shadow over her from the street lamp. The light flickered and she was gone the raven was flying to where the demon that the other demons where after was. She was thankful for being able to use spirit magic it made things much more simple. The raven would grew close to the area and circle only to back away going to a dead street light landing on it. Inali stepped from the shadows as if this was normal. Shadow Walkers where hard to find and where not the type to mess with. There where stories that they had demon blood with in them that grated this along with the other strange things they where able to do. It also made them a target for other exorcist. Like she said she was there only to make sure things here taken care of. She had no care who made the kill or how it happened as long as it happened.
She however keep her hand on the arrow an bow in the over side jacket pocket. She doubted she would need but she rather have it ready for use than not. She studied the demons and how they took on there own, they way the set things up. This was something that always should be noted not for any reason but to under stand there pecking order. In any team that was fighting each member had something they where good at doing and for each it was different. This was how a well built team was set up. She rubbed her chin a little and looked at the raven with golden eyes. No words where said but she knew what he was thinking. "Dont worry things will be fine" She than looked back to what was going on.
"Well, then. I won't hunt your kind anymore." Devan responded. He still had that cold tone, but then again, he ALWAYS had the cold tone. "Sorry for the misunderstanding and the insults." Not really sorry, but Devan would stay true to what he said: any demon that sits around doesn't get hunt. Any demon murdering a human does. Simple. If there was a misunderstanding, oh well.
For now, though, Devan needed to focus on getting away. His strange attire, plus his presence when that car exploded, made him a target of suspicion. He needed to get out.
Sheena bowed slightly and said, "Thank you. I appreciate it. If you are looking for any demons, I suggest finding the ones that blend in with the shadows." She hinted towards the ones everyone was currently following, "And I actually think that my own kind may be stirring up some trouble if they continue to chase it anymore. Excuse me." She politely said as usual and lifted her heavy cane from the ground before dashing at quite a fast run to find her partner and the hunt that was taking place, 'That child will get a beating when I find him...' She grumbled a bit to herself, knowing Haruka was always the type of demon to cause trouble when she wasn't around to play as his mother.
Natoa, once hearing the other demon leave, turned around again, still walking backwards, and called to Devan, "Hey, kid, I think it's best to get away from the car explosion. You don't look very normal you know, and we wouldn't want an exorcist to be invested by the police, yes? Come on, let's head back to the guild, the other demons will take care of our work today. And there's already another female exorcist over with them right now. There's not much more use in trying anymore. Let's go back." Natoa said as he turned around again. He was simply giving the best advice possible, only exorcists were allowed into the guild underneath the church, so no humans could enter or cause any trouble once they entered.
She leaned on the dead light post watching. She knew this would not be taken well from the demons but it did not matter to her. She looked at a few oft them and just blinked she could tell they where not sure what to do with the fact that she got there as fast as she did. She just waited with out word or care about the looks she got from them she just stood there.
Inali keep way from the guild for her it was not her thing she found them to be to controlling always trying to keep everyone with the same belief and way of doing things. For her she was a Shaman first than an exorcist. Even in many ways they where the same thing they still had things that where different. Her great great grandfather was kicked out of the guild for a few of his comments and thoughts. He was out spoken on many things and had no issues speaking out. In turn this made her a bit of an out cast with the guild. That did not matter to her.
"What the hell do you think I'm doing?" Devan responded coldly, still walking through the sidewalks and intersections. "And I can tell your age by voice; you're not that older than me." He kept walking away from the site of destruction, hoping the person behind him- who Devan knew was the exorcist from before- had left. Devan needed to get out of town before authorities blamed it on him.
Before he could continue, he felt something very, very hard hit his head, "Now, that's enough swearing for you child." A familiar voice said, "No more. You're going to cause trouble, and any more trouble will lead to more fighting. That demon is gone, probably moved to another area of this city to bother the others. It's not our concern until it returns, so lets head back home."
Haruka, as much as he hated it, had to listen to his elder, so quietly, he followed behind Sheena. The rest of the demons went back to the alley way, most of them walking past humans, maybe stealing a thing or two just for fun, but other than that, no harm was done.
"Older by at least a year for sure..." Naota answered quietly, as if speaking to himself since he went in the opposite direction. He actually decided not to go to the guild, for once. Instead, he was thinking of visiting the clock tower, where most of the demons roamed by. Many humans stayed away from it because people said that there was many murders there which is most definitely a lie. But it allows to leave the demons in peace. Naota thinks of it like the center home of the regular demons, where they all crowd together, and usually, they wouldn't allow any humans or exorcists to get near them, but Naota always had his ways of persuasion.

Re: Pact of the Exorcist
1~ Oh! That's Kei-chan's name! She's showing that those are where her characters will be because she's making them at the moment. Kei-chan's username is in Japanese, but the character's name in between the lines will be in english ^w^ That goes for everyone's characters as well.
2~ Exorcists aren't exactly a race... but to make it simpler, let's just say they are! The humans in the rp will just be born with the sight to see demons and realize an exorcist without being told. Exorcists either became themselves either when they were human, or were just born into the line. Try and think of an exorcist as another type of race~ May be easier that way.
3~ The bad exorcists? If you mean by the exorcists that follow the traditional way (killing all demons), well... there isn't much to say honestly >w< They're exorcists who go on a hunt almost every day to kill all demons they can find. Obviously, they're not exactly evil, just following orders or following their religion. They're highly against the modern exorcists who form forbidden pacts, but that doesn't mean that they have a war or anything. Simply, the relationship between the two different exorcists is like an argue, no physical fighting (most times). Eh... Traditional exorcists also tend to create conflict between the other exorcists and their work since the two's motives are exactly opposite (one willing to kill, the other willing to form a pact). Hopefully that is enough (/;w;)/ Kei-chan hasn't thought through each races bios very much.
If there's any more questions or you would like to ask for more info, don't be afraid to ask Kei-chan~ She's willing to help in any way possible!
Re: Pact of the Exorcist
Hello!
I am quite curious about this RP, but I have a couple questions reguarding it:
1. I see the names of the demons are in some sort of asian characatures (Japanese?) so I cannot determine the actual name. Is there a way you can put an english example for us to look at? I mean no disrespect from it, I'm simply curious.
2. The "bad" exorcists. You stated they are only human if they go through a certain thing to become one. What race are they generally? Can you please provide the race options so I can better choose which type of character I wish to be?
3. Is there any other way, other than which race, you can go into a little bit more detail on the good and bad exorcists? Primarily the bad ones. As you can tell this is the type of character I am most interested in, but before I begin to create my character I just want to make sure I have a complete understanding of who they are, what they are, and what they do.
I appreciate your help on this.
Thank you!
:-)
