Alana was skating down the street like she always did on her way to school. Her backpack slung loosely over her shoulder as she sped down the sidewalk, expertly dodging passersby a smile on her face. She then turned a corner and even though she was a clone and could dodge things she could see, she couldn't dodge things she couldn't see. SMACK! She skated right into a telephone pole and fell back, hearing a horrible snap and pain shot from her arm. A passerby saw this and called an ambulance for her and soon she was being carried to the hospital to be insta-healed.

Tonight was the night, Shadow had spent a lot of time preparing for this with a couple of the other guys. He went over the list of what they needed and who would be doing what.

Shadow: Disabling the alarm system and opening the back door.
Mikey: Making sure the get away bikes were in position.
Buster and Jakob: Carrying and protecting the Haul.
Whisper: Coordinating over their earpieces.

Shadow made sure his bag of tools was full and prepared. He looked up out of the sewer grate that was the door into his world. There, across the street and behind a couple of buildings was his target, The Hospital.

The hospital was a building that stayed on all day and night. But, under the cover of darkness, Shadow always felt like his people, the humans, had had more power than the clones. While he began setting up his equipment, Whisper made sure everyone was in position.

"Are you set, Shadow?" Whisper said in her lilting accent.
He double checked to make absolutely sure that everything was in place, and that his multi-tool was set to cut all the right wires at the right time. "Y-yes. Set."
"Alright on my mark. And...Go."
The wires were cut perfectly. The alarms shut down and then the electricity and then the back-up all in a split second. The hospital was completely dark.
"Alright, Buster, Jakob, you're up."
Jakob's voice crackled. "On it."

The doctor and nurse looked around in a panic. "What happened? Even if we lose power we have back up system." "We need to make sure the patients are ok." "But we still need to take care of the girl." "Right, we'll do that first." They both rushed out and Alana's eyes snapped open in fear.

The two men ran into the building, their specialized goggles letting them see where they needed to go. They would start on the top floor and work their way down, grabbing whatever medical supplies they could find. Shadow had cut the phone lines and installed a jammer so that no calls could go out, but it would only be a matter of time before someone arrived to fix the problem. They would have to be gone before that happened.

The bikes were quietly set up in a nearby alley, facing the water sewage plant. There would be a drainage pipe big enough for them to escape through.

Of course, the only two people who might have even considered it were on the ninth floor piling syringes and medical equipment into their bags. They made sure to get the most important equipment they could find, but they didn't know what exactly they should take. Before they moved onto the next floor, they took a portable insta-heal/defibrillator.

Alana didn't know what to do. Her eyes darted back and forth in the darkness, from what she could see, which wasn't much, she could tell there was another empty bed next to her, a bunch of equipment, and a window. She didn't think it was smart to risk the hallways but maybe... Quietly climbing out of the bed and on deaf footsteps she made her way to the window, looking out. It was a brick building, fairly old, and had a few nicks and cracks she could shove her fingers and toes into. The rest of the time she'd have to risk trusting the vines that climbed the side of the building. With the security system shut off she was able to get the window open and she climbed out. She somehow made it to the ground and looked around, for now, she needed to hide. If she went home that would be the first place they looked when they realized she was missing. Instead she ran across the street to the water sewage plant. Finding a drainage pipe big enough for her to fit through she dropped in and pressed herself against the wall, taking deep breaths despite the smell to try and calm her nerves.

The floors all went rather quickly. There was a brief moment when Jakob bumped into someone, but it was just a lost patient looking for a nurse. He directed them into one of the rooms and they filled their bags to the breaking point.

"That's all we can take. We're good to go."
"Alright, are the bikes in place?"
"Yup."
"Then head out there, all four of you. Don't stop pedaling until you're safe."
In unison, the four said, softly, "Yes Whisper."

Alana finally calmed herself down enough to think clearly.
Ok... so here's how it's going... I'm hiding in a sewer... which smells awful by the way, and I'm in here because I had to escape from the hospital before they killed me. The nurse said something about me being defective. What does that mean?

The bikes were almost silent compared to the sounds of the sirens approaching the hospital. They rode away as quickly as they could and in a short time, they had entered the sewers where they dropped off their bikes. They sloshed back to their homes laughing and celebrating about the score they'd just gotten. Shadow was busy looking at some new toys they had picked up, the defibrillator for one thing.

They were being so loud that it would be hard NOT to notice them if someone was in the sewers and close by.

Alana's head shot up as she heard others in the sewer. She slowly stepped forward, they were laughing and sounded happy. She stepped out from around a corner and saw four men coming in her direction. "Um... Hello...?" She said, looking at them cautiously, ready to run if she needed, with both her legs healed she was a pretty fast runner, even for a clone.

The four stopped and stared blankly at the obvious clone in their home. She was beautiful and...well, perfect. None of the four had ever been so scared in their lives. They all drew their guns, old pistols from the early 20's that would have made a modern police officer laugh. But they could still be deadly.

Shadow said nothing, unsure of what to do about this situation. He'd never been caught before.

Alana's eyes widened and she gasped softly, backing up quickly into the wall, she looked at the guns fearfully but didn't run. "Please I... need help..." She said quietly as she stared into their eyes in turn, looking for some shred of hope.

Buster laughed. "You, need help? From us?" He laughed again. "You've got to be kidding me, girl I aughta blow-" He shut up as Shadow placed his hand on his arm.

"Let Whisper decide." He said quietly.

Jakob and Mikey nodded. "That's Whisper's job, dude. " "Yeah, she'll want to see this."

Buster ripped his arm away from Shadow, who silently stepped backward. "Fine. But you're walking in front of us."

Alana nodded softly, she might be brave, but she wasn't stupid, as long as she had some chance at getting out of this she'd do whatever they wanted. "Alright... which way?"

Jakob pointed with his gun down the pipe. The group let her lead them but did not take their guns off of her. Suddenly, their celebration and laughter was a lot less important. Jakob pointed towards a crack in the side of the wall. From where the group stood, it looked like the crack had been covered in cement, but when prompted to push it, Alana should be able to tell that it is actually a cleverly placed plaster like substance that swung open like a door with her push.

Alana looked confused as one of the men pointed to the supposedly covered crack, she walked up to it and put her hand on it and it gave way under her hand. Her eyes widened and she pushed it all the way open. "That's pretty cool..." She muttered softly and walked through.

There were a few more hallways that she was pointed through, with more twists and turns than a normal human would be able to remember. If she looked into any other rooms she'd see more hallways and more humans than she could have ever suspected. The humans that noticed her stared openly and a few even followed the group down the hall. Jakob and Buster threw their bags to a couple of people who ran off in opposite directions.

They got to a room lit by a dozen or more computer monitors. In a swivel chair, facing them, was a young girl no more than 15. She was wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt and she stood when Alana was brought into the room.

Alana looked around cautiously then her eyes landed on the girl surprised.

The young girl walked closer and motioned for the lights to turn on. In an instant the room was illuminated. Now that the lighting was well enough that everyone could see clearly. It was obvious that the girl in the sweatpants was a clone.
