Name: Denise Diott

Age: 20

Gender: Female

Class: Druid

Race: Human

Height: 5'5''

Weight: 156 lbs

Appearance: Denise is a shorter woman, with broad shoulders and a figure that puts on muscle and weight easily. Her hands are unladylike, with short, clumsy fingers, uneven bitten nails and callused palms. Her hair is fiery red and fine and there is too much of it. She lets it float around her like cobwebs, as it slips out of any updo she attempts.

Her face is round and youthful with a wide forehead. Her eyebrows are thick and expressive and her eyes large, framed by nearly invisible red lashes. Her pale skin is easily irritated. The tip of her nose, her cheeks and her chin are always a faint pink and turn bright red in the cold. Her pale skin is susceptible to sunburn and she has a hoard of pale freckles that litter her shoulders as well as her entire face, which you'll see if you get a closer look at her. Her favourite features are her rainforest green eyes and her perfectly shaped lips, which conceal a crooked grin that is bottom half tooth, top half gum - something the woman is very self-conscious about.

Class: Druid

Denise was originally trained as a Huntress, taught to be quick on her feet and quicker to draw. However, the solitary nature of a Hunter did not suit her. Though she found her calling elsewhere, she still carries the skills she acquired through her training and continues to fight with a Hunter's bow and dagger.

Denise receives her powers for a Druid transformation through her bond with her spirit totems. As she was not originally from the clan of Druids that she settled in with and was late to begin her training, she lacks their bond with the natural forces and uses "artificial" means to tap into nature's power. These spirit totems are old wood carved artefacts linked with the soul of an animal, considered to be a god in another form, which can be bound to someone who proves themselves worthy. Denise is recognised as a Druid, the first step in binding with a spirit totem. For the bond to be formed, there is a test which varies depending on the individual spirit. For Denise to bond with the stag, she had to beat it in a race. To bond with the eagle, she was tested on her archery. To bond with the squirrel, she collected nuts.

The totems are separated into three separate tiers. Each tier can be rotated, which grants her a different ability. The first tier gives her some of the non-visual characteristics of her animal, the second half-morphs her and the third fully transforms her.

Stag

First tier

  • Increased speed

Second tier

  • Antlers
  • Fur
  • Hooved feet
  • Gender questionable

Third tier

  • Is a stag
  • Definitely a male

For her eagle, the first tier increases her vision. The second tier gives her talons and a beak as well as feathers sprouting out of her back, but no wings. The third tier transforms her into an eagle. The first tier of the squirrel totem gives her increased agility, the second tier gives her a tail, fur and shrinks her to half her height, while the last tier turns her into a squirrel. The first tier is the less taxing on her stamina while the third tier is difficult to recover from.

She must keep a good relationship with the spirits or else they may turn against her. To do this, she meditates upon the totems and gives the spirits offerings to keep them appeased.

Equipment

Archery equipment... Her bow is made from bone, her arrows a mismatch of whatever she's plucked out of targets and corpses. The bow was a gift from a friend. The quiver is simple and leather, crafted by her own hands.

Knife... Very small and hidden away, it's used for sudden close combat and slitting the throats of her fallen prey that unfortunately did not meet their end by her arrow.

Totems... She wears them on a necklace, usually hidden beneath her attire. She has an eagle, a stag and a squirrel. There is one unfinished totem that she is carving herself.

Carving equipment and art supplies... She's working on a project. As a creative person, she needs a hobby.

Cake tin... Used to hold cake.

Armor and Attire... She wears a pale green jumpsuit made from plain, breathable material beneath her leather armour, which consists of shoulder pads, full skin tight sleeves and leggings, a leather corset, gauntlets and boots. Her corset. gauntlets and boots have golden patterns woven into their surfaces as decoration. She wears dark green gloves to hide her hands, which she is a little embarrassed of. These clothes have been enchanted to work with her transformations, something that all Druids have to consider when transforming. If she transforms while not wearing her working clothes, she will come back naked as a human.

Personality: Denise is a woman of expression. She's uninhibited with her emotions, whether she wants to be or not. Even without speaking, her expressions tell all. Someone who knows well will be able to distinguish what each of her eyebrow quivers mean - anger, disgust, distress or the prelude to a waterworks. Though she may try, she can't stop herself from crying, something that happens whenever she gets furious. She's quite easily made grumpy, upset and/or anxious, but just as easily made excited. Watching Denise thinking is like watching a shifting mosaic of emotion, with every subtle change reflecting her thoughts. For some people, her inability to mask what she's thinking makes her an easy read, but for others, it may be confusing to interpret.

There are two levels for Denise - loud and louder. She's one of those people that will put on a hushed voice when whispering but won't actually lower her voice. In instances that she has to be quiet she will shut up and resort to miming, which is not in her particular skill set. She's unfortunately dyslexic and is too ashamed to confess her difficulties to anyone, writing herself off as stupid and playing up the airhead act even when she's sick of it. Instead of words, she likes pictures and spends her alone time painting and drawing, specifically crabs.

As the social creature that she is, she enjoys to be surrounded by sound and movement. Though this environment is usually found in heavily populated areas, she believes nature is just as "talkative". She dislikes dead silence, the kind that not even nature can be heard through, and the prospect makes her anxious. She feels like she's going to be ambushed in those situations. She also stress eats, something she has to work off.

Denise admires intelligent and interesting people and values honesty, nature, enthusiasm and spontaneity. She scorns people with a lack of motivation and imagination and dislikes scary stories and not being able to see beneath the helmet or mask of the person she's talking to.

History: Denise was the village idiot. She attempted work in many places, though the work that lead her to where she is now was at a tavern. She would become so wrapped up in the stories of travelers that she would forget her job, which eventually led to her being sacked... but not before she met Jalark Kip. Jalark decided to teach the girl how to hunt for a living, as she had no skill set apart from getting distracted, hoping that she would learn to concentrate. She complained that the forest was too quiet and she taught her how lively the forest could be, if she only listened. After years of Jalark going away and coming back, seeing how Denise was improving then going away again, Denise decided that it was time to go find somewhere her skills could be put to greater use.

A series of events then lead to her becoming a Druid, but because a history for the character is not necessary, you can find out in the roleplay. Here are the things you need to know: she's considered a disgrace to the honor of the Druids by many, she's in very big trouble for bonding with the spirit totems, some people want her dead and she's risking everything to track down a giant bear that almost killed her many years ago.

So begins...
