Introduction
“It wasn’t so long ago that people honored their history here . . . and remembered their origins, and what it was they owed to their ancestors, and the Pokémon who made it possible to settle here. However, as time went on, people began to forget their debts. The connections had with the Pokémon of what are now legends were severed, as people lost sight. Their souls, hearts and minds closed off, and those Pokémon with whom Johto had been founded fled, and faded into mere myth, as there are few left who heed these tales as truth. . . . But, there remains hope among those of an older generation, and those who have taken to honoring the ways of old, that someday soon, three individuals worthy of reestablishing the lost connections to the ancient Pokémon of old will appear and help to restore Johto to what it once was.”
Three years has already passed by since Team Rocket was disbanded and their leader sent himself into a self-imposed exile in order to get stronger, and to become truly unbeatable. The region of Kanto, which had more or less been held at gunpoint by the criminal organization for countless years, finally found some peace within itself for the first time in ages. Life fell into a comfortable cycle, and the trainer responsible for delivering Kanto from the evils of Team Rocket was honored and hailed as a hero, and became an admired figure. The citizens felt safe and secure with their newly crowned League Champion watching out for them. . . . Even after it was he vanished away himself, evidently heading off to undergo further training himself, people still felt safe.
In truth, it really is amazing to think about how much can transpire in three years, and at the same time, about how very little can change as well. Seeing the dramatic changes Kanto underwent in the wake of Team Rocket’s disbandment, and then seeing the neighboring region of Johto, and how little it changed in comparison was something almost surreal.
Recent months however have been showing signs of change within Johto, rapid and disturbing changes that seem to be tearing the region backward in the way of progress. Questionable and uncertain reports have slipped in and out of various places, speaking of the return of Team Rocket there. . . . With these reports being so tentative, and unsure, however, nothing is being done to handle the situation. Many people are simply writing these reports off as rumors, and are going on with their lives in peace, as is human nature.
At the same time as all of this; a tense and strange atmosphere has settled in upon the region as a whole, as history and legends begin to collide together, and the past seems to be connecting into the present with full force. Many people who hold onto the old culture of the region have begun to become anxious, feeling as if the time for their Legendary Pokémon to return has come at last, and that the individuals who embody the traits of each will rise up.

Collectibles
