Description

Full Name:Veris Dovym
Nicknames: The Dragon Priest
Age: 21
Birthday: 08/13
Race: Huntsman
Image

Appearance: His eyes are natural looking with a deep blue iris when he is not casting. Also has a tattoo of a European style, the winged lizard type, dragon on his forearm, which goes from just after his elbow to just before his wrist. The body and tail of the dragon take up the top of his forearm while the legs and wings extend down his forearm. The tattoo is a sign that someone is a Dragons' Huntsmen, if any characters would know that.

Personality: Veris goes back to the origins of the Hunters in beliefs, back to when the Hunters were known as the Dragons' Huntsmen. This means that he doesn't see the resurrected as a plague, but a special kind of person. When there are special people, special judges and executioners have to go after the criminals. That was the belief that the original Hunters had. They also worshiped dragon kind, which was a race of small winged lizards no larger than a human forearm that had control over a specific element. Of course, people to do not believe in dragons anymore, but some still live, and they speak human languages.

Veris, being that he holds true to the ways of the Dragons' Huntsmen, reverently follows the teachings of the dragons, and his dragon Ziph, who he keeps hidden from most.

Veris has a strong sense of justice, but is still fairly violent when met with a threat. He can also be quite intelligent when given the time to think. Veris would never betray a friend and is more than willing to lend a blade to a resurrected who is 'pure of heart' or 'innocent of mind.' In his mind, the Hunters are out of control.

Weapons: A hunter broadsword that is about 1 1/2 feet long and weighs about 3 pounds, the power to force elements into the shape of a dragon.
Inventory: The armor is his second magic, but has to be powered by a 'sacrifice' of resurrected, or hunter, blood. A small darkness dragon name Ziph (age: 2041), who he reverently follows.

History: Many years ago, a boy sat on a porch. He was playing with fire, but not in most peoples definitions. He had a fire pit next to him, and floating pieces of pure fire dancing about in the air. He did stuff like this to amuse himself when his parents were not around. On this one particular day, however, a man had walked by and saw the boy playing with fire. The man had a tattoo of a dragon on his forearm, and a righteous step about him.

In first reaction to the boy's powers, the man released his dragon from a small bag to guide him as to what race the boy was. The boy was indeed a Huntsman. Thus, the man approached the boy and asked him if he would like to do good for the world. The boy, as all children do, happily said yes to such a question. On that day, a 7 year old boy named Adion Volf disappeared from existence, and a 7 year old boy name Veris Dovym emerged from nothingness.

At age 8, Veris was given Ziph as a mentor and guide to the dragons ways. When Veris was age 16, he took the Dragon's Trial and officially became a Dragons' Huntsmen. Since then, Veris has hunted down countless resurrected criminals. One of which was the last resurrection of Osoma Bin Loden.

Veris sat on a bench. He was waiting for a Resurrected to appear. They did not know that Veris was in waiting, but had tracked them down. The ultimate way to track Hunters was to follow Resurrected, then kill the Hunter when they try to kill the Resurrected. The Hunter would never kill in this public of a place though. Instead, they would go to an ally or something, but Veris could tell the magic races from humans with ease.

As the crowds pass, Veris watches for thieves, the most common profession of Resurrected.

For the past 10 minutes, Veris had followed a Hunter from Market District through the Residential District's park. Then he saw what he needed to see. The Hunter, and another Hunter, both with tainted souls. He watched as they pinned a young girl to the wall, preparing to do things that Veris could not allow.

While he had been staying a good distance behind, the young girl's sobs gave Veris the needed distraction to charge his opponents. With one charging strike, Veris now killed one of the Hunters. The blood of the Hunter lit ablaze on Veris's blade before an intricate metal armor covered the Dragons' Huntsman.

The second Hunter came at him with a tiny blade. It was also true that the way the Hunter wielded the weapon gave away that he was likely fresh out of the Hunters' local city. After a few times stepping back, Veris had worn out the new Hunter. Not so long after, the Hunter found the blade that Veris held through his heart.

After cleaning the blood off of the blade, Veris's armor disappeared. The man wore a brown hooded jacket with camouflage pants and a dark green backpack.

"You ok miss?" Veris asked Annie.

"Have you ever heard of the Dragons' Huntsmen? Or the Resurrected? Or the Hunters? Whether you know it or not, you are something more than just a human. Those men where Hunters. They fight the Dragons' Huntsmen, a rare group that I am part of, and hunt down Resurrected. You are Resurrected. Only certain weapons can truly kill you, but that doesn't stop things other than that." Veris said, trying to explain the world that she was in.

"The Dragons' Huntsmen protect the innocent Resurrected, and punish the criminals across all three groups. Almost all of the Hunters are beyond just criminals." Veris continued, hoping to gain the trust of the Resurrected.

"Do you want to see something dear to me?" Veris said, dropping his backpack onto the ground and letting Ziph, who was the exact size of the tattoo on the forearm of Veris, and had black scales that had a shine in the light of the alleyway. Ziph looked at Annie and said, "We created your kind to help the dead move on. Now something that we have tried to prevent hunts your kind, and my kind is not even believed in. The world has suffered because of the Hunters."

Ziph flew and landed on Boo just moments before he landed back on Veris and began wiping his feet. "Boo needs cleaned." Ziph said only moments before Veris said, "What is your name? And, I can take you somewhere safe if you are willing to go."

He was, of course, talking about the safe house he had been staying in. While the place was set up for warriors to stay in, with weapon racks and training dummies all over the place, it still had a washing and drying machines, and plenty of beds. There he could wash all of Annie's stuff for her.

When Veris opened the door, it led to a small kitchen area. From there, one could enter a den that was set up for some form of meditation. The two other doorways led to a hallway with a few bedrooms, an entrance to the basement, and a bathroom, while the other went to a living area which had a stairway to the second floor. The bedrooms all were empty except for one, which had a small laptop on the desk.

"Make yourself at home. There is a bathroom with a tub upstairs if you would like to have a bath. Downstairs is a washing and drying machine. All the rooms without anything in them are open, so pick your favorite. Is there anything you would like for lunch? Also, you still haven't told me your name." Veris said.

"Do the ghosts talk to you, lass? Do you know why you can see them? It's because people like you were made thousands of years ago, by dragons. The specific breed that started your kind, created your kind to help the dead move on. That is why you can see them. Those who you can see are the dead who had something holding them to the Earth, something that they had never finished or done. It is usually connected to a person that they loved or wronged. That is why you have a power, and the ability to survive death.

The reasoning behind you being able to survive death is so that you can better understand the dead. You can feel their pain first-hand, while still coming back to the living realm. There are only two materials that can kill a Resurrected, your race, for good. Hunter metals and Dragon metals.

The men who tried to hurt you were what are call Hunters. They have found the secret behind getting powers around 300 years ago. They believe that your race is a blight, yet they know not your purpose.

I am from a group known as the Dragons' Huntsmen. We are the other race made by dragons. We were created to act as police for Resurrected and others of the magical world, which there were none until the Hunters. Now we fight the Hunters and protect the Resurrected. No Dragons' Huntsmen will hurt you, so long as you stay innocent." Veris explained.

Veris let out a subtle sigh as he looked at the ruined book. It was far beyond the point of no return. However, it was one that was easy to find and replace. "I don't think that this book can be fixed. It's a shame to see something so joyous ruined by those who claim to protect others. Destroyed out of crudeness given through power that was amassed through fear." Veris said before putting the book down on the table and saying, "I can get you a new one, but this one is beyond the point of no return."

After a rubble of a stomach filled the silent room, Annie asked Veris for some food, but in a way that made him this she thought that she needed to pay him. However, his response was, "All you have to do for food is tell me what you want, and wait for me to finish making it."

"Nice to meet you Annie." Veris said softly, before taking the book and saying in the same soft tone, "I could get you a new one, if you want it."

Once Veris put the book on the table, he walked over to a shelf in the kitchen area and put three cans of soup on the counter. One can was chicken noodle, one tomato, and the last one was chunky beef. "Which one do you want?" Veris asked.

Veris nodded when Annie said yes to getting a new book. She then told Veris that she wanted the chicken soup. So he pulled out the can and the soup pot. He plopped the currently funky looking slop of white meat and noodles down in the pan, before adding water to it. With the water, the soup seemed to come to life. It separated out into individual noodles and chicken chunks that look like food.

After hearing Annie say the name Georgie, he seemed to remember something. While not straying to far from the cooking soup, Veris checked the local roster. There was an older Huntsman who had died recently with the name George. However, now that he knew who was guiding Annie, he felt a little more at ease.

"I am glad." Veris said as he brought the steaming soup with a spoon in it. "Watch out. It's hot." He warned Annie before setting the soup down in front of her.

As Veris was cleaning up the cooking area, he heard Annie thank him for the food. "You're more than welcome."

After beginning to clean the pot that he had cooked the soup in, Annie asked him if he could clean Boo. After a moment, Veris responded with, "Does he mind the washing machine? If he does, I'll clean him by hand."

"Dovym. I realize it's a bit hard to pronounce. The washer is this way." Veris said motioning Annie to follow him. He showed her to the washing machines, then told her how to use them.

They really were nice washing machines, with three dials. One was time, another was three settings, small, medium, and large, the last one was gentle, standard, and tough. Other than that, the machine was a sparkling white, looking like it had just come from the factory.
