Personality

Sufferance is calm and calculating, though she tends to state everything sheโ€™s thinking. She works best when she can explain aloud as she goes and loves to figure things out. She always wants people to see her strengths and never her weaknesses, as she lives off of peopleโ€™s acceptance. She can manipulate a bit to get her way, but is very good at covering her tracks.

Equipment

She is rarely found not wearing her violet spectacles, but if so, they are usually tucked in the small rucksack she always has flung over her shoulder. Also contained in the rucksack are a few small books, a notebook, a pen, a few raspberry candies, random sheets of paper that are scrawled over, a small coin purse, and a sharp knife.

History

Sufferance was a genius in her regular schooling and was almost always at the top of things and the first to understand. She was adept at tutoring others and loved to feel so smartโ€ฆHowever, she had found out that she was โ€˜giftedโ€™ with the ability to create luxin, which devastated her. Why? She is extremely unskilled at doing so, not able to control the ability at all. Therefore, she hid this fact as long as she could, not wanting to take responsibility for such a horrible control. It got out soon enough, though, when the ring of color became noticeable in her eyes. She went to Chromeria for about two months before she was kicked out and fled from the large cities, where she now lives and tries to make a new life for herself. Rebuild. She takes whatever work she can.

So begins...

Sufferance Tural looked up from her book when she noticed a few newcomers enter the shop. She straightened up slightly and looked over each in turn for a moment. She had offered to help the shopkeeper for the day in return for a place to sleep that night. He'd accepted fairly quickly, wanting a day off and not minding someone staying for a night. She carefully marked her place in the book and made herself look as welcoming as possible, waiting for either to come over and pay.

Sufferance Tural smiled at the first to approach. He seemed pretty weak and...maybe a bit confused, too. He just pulled out a danar, didn't he? Woah, woah...Don't take that much, Suffie, don't take that much...She bit her lip for a moment and then returned to that peppy smile and laughed a little. "Darling, those'll be about five danarites...I can't give change for that much, unfortunately. Poor town and all that," she stated with a soft tone. He seemed pretty young...She motioned for the next customer with the fruit to just hold on a moment, giving another perky smile.

Sufferance Tural was about to bend down to get her knife from her rucksack, it would've been no problem...But she paused when she realized the halos in her customer's eyes. She blinked a few times and then looked at the other customer, too, in a daze for a moment. Wait...Did this person have halos, too? No way...She gulped slightly and nodded. "Of course, it will. Thank you for your business, sirs," she stated, hiding away her slight nervousness. "Come again." She even forced that perky smile. Her eyes drifted to the young woman in the corner...She'd been there for a while, now...Maybe she should check on her?

Sufferance Tural watched the two males leaves and let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. "Well, that seemed a bit close, didn't it?" she muttered to herself, putting the money in it's place and wiping the counter, shaking her head a bit. "They still get to me, I guess..." She sighed softly and looked over at the woman again. Okay, best check on her...She walked over carefully, mindful of the two wild animals. "Hello, Miss. Need any help shopping today?" she questioned, back into her helpful, perky voice. Oh, how that voice grated on even her own ears...

Sufferance Tural tilted her head slightly at the woman and repeated her question, trying to make her voice sound not quite so gratingly perky..."Miss, do you need any help shopping today?" she questioned, eying the animals with her. She hadn't tried to make them leave, but she was slightly worried about the young woman just sitting there for so long..."Is there anything in particular you needed?" She was getting a room for the night out of this, might as well try to do a good job.

Sufferance Tural smiled back, though she know knew the other woman couldn't see it. "Alright, miss, just a moment, please," she stated before turning and heading to the shelves. She carefully grabbed one of the jars of water and then pulled a cup from behind the counter. She returned to the woman with both items and gently extended them. "I have a cup and a jar of water, will that work?" she questioned, still a bit perky, but kinder sounding now.

Sufferance Tural made sure Stella had grip on the jar and cup before letting go...And then she realized maybe she should've asked if the woman needed her to pour it...She quickly righted the jar and set it to the side, moving quickly to get a towel from the back. "It's alright, miss!" she called back, grabbing two and running back quickly. She laid one of the woman's lap before sopping up what had spilled on the table and floor. "I know you didn't. Don't worry, I'll clean it up. Just dry yourself off and enjoy the water, alright?" She smiled and placed the wet towel on the counter. At least this work wasn't boring...

Sufferance Tural laughed quietly and shook her head. "It's alright, no worries," she stated, taking the jug to put it behind the counter. This woman didn't mean to...She sighed softly and pulled out a few of her own coins and placed them with the jar before she forgot. "Don't worry about it, miss. You just pay for that much and we'll be even, alright?" She moved back to the woman, still smiling, as useless as the action might be.

Sufferance Tural carefully slipped the wet towel off of the young woman's lap now that she was done with it and placed it with the other...But then the door opened and she definitely didn't feel right. She turned slowly, folding her hands in front of her and pasting that perky smile on her face quickly. "Hello, sir..." She faltered for a moment...Yellow halos...Another mage?! With just a second, she was back to her store-tending, perky self. "How may I help you today?" she asked with a slight bow, now hiding her eyes. She didn't like the feel of this person...

Sufferance Tural had hesitated for a moment, not straightening from her bow...But that voice demanded compliance, she could tell. She moved quickly and grabbed a jar of water from the shelves and placed it on the counter. Another few steps and she had moved a small whet stone to the counter as well. His eyes...had changed...Wait...She looked up at the sketch and blinked a few times. He...had been the first of the new mages in town. Was he why they were suddenly congregating? He had seemed shy and weak...Damnit, she hated decisions. "I've seen him. I have no clue where he is now, though," she stated quietly. She almost didn't want to ask for the payment...

Sufferance Tural flinched slightly at the action and stepped back a bit. This person was definitely not good news...She wanted him to leave...but she didn't want to be the one to blame for conflict happening between these mages...It wouldn't hurt either of them if she gave inaccurate directions. "He seemed to be alone. He went back towards the houses," she lied without twitching. She moved to cover the young customer from this man's view, almost protectively. "And please don't threaten the customer's or their animals, please and thank you." She was still smiling, still perky. She was good at hiding things.

Sufferance Tural flinched slightly again, barely keeping the corners of her mouth from turning from that smile to an angry scowl. At least, not until he had left. She didn't think the woman would mind. She couldn't see anyways, right..."The nerve..." she mumbled quietly. "I think I'm already rooting for the other one..." she decided to herself before moving to the woman. "Sorry about him, miss. Look...If anyone gives you any trouble, my name is Sufferance. I move around this town, but I can help you if you need it while you're here," she offered.

Sufferance Tural nodded at Stella and smiled. "Very pretty name. It suits you well," she stated, being friendly again after the man had left. She just had to work herself back into her perky a bit. She sighed slightly and gave a short laugh. "You did, did you? Well, it's true. That man rubbed me the wrong way. Hope that kid keeps away from him and out of trouble, honestly. So...need anything else? Your animals need anything?" she questioned kindly, smiling widely again.

Sufferance Tural smiled again. "It's no problem, darling." She nodded slightly and gave a smile to each animal. "They take good care of you, as well as you caring for them, right?" she questioned, noting their reactions so far. They looked like a good trio...She smiled a bit softer. "And yes...If he's smart, he'll get out of town as soon as he realizes he's being followed...But, I hope I don't get dragged into any of that. My life's had enough drama already, right?" She moved slowly back to the counter, whistling slightly.

Sufferance Tural blinked at the windows at the front of her store...No. She hadn't seen that. Just look away, Suffy, you didn't see anything. Nope, nothing resembling those two mages from earlier...Not a...Glimmer. Crap. "That's always nice. I miss my family sometimes, but nothing I can't get over, right?" she stated, pushing the slight nervous tone from her voice. She wouldn't let Stella know about them, no way. "How long you been together?" Now she may've just been taking to get her own mind off it...

Sufferance Tural nodded and kept her large smile. "Ah, right, of course. Well, you all seem very content together," she stated, still keeping that voice. But...Even she could hear faint yelling coming from the side of the building...Crap, crap...No words reached her, but the tones spoke volumes. She should tell them to leave. Immediately. She didn't want to get involved, but...She didn't want something bad to happen that she could've prevented, either. "Fancy a quick walk, Stella?" she questioned. She didn't want to leave this woman alone, either...Ah, difficult decisions.

Sufferance Tural smiled and carefully took Stella's hand. "Of course. My plan all along," she stated, giving a last look over the store. The owner might not be happy she was leaving it, even if just for a little while. "I can always explain that I was helping a good customer," she mumbled aloud to herself before leading Stella to the door quickly. There was a sense of urgency to her movement. Was she letting herself panic? No, no, she had to stay level-headed. She stepped out, still trying to lead Stella. Fire. The town was on fire. "Dammit!"

Sufferance Tural nodded and began to follow Stella's lead...Her eyes had been scanning the landscape and began to water. She quickly used her free hand to pull up her shirt slightly to cover her mouth. Suddenly, then were heading a very different direction...And suddenly, by some strange will of fate. There they were. Those two mages from earlier. And the younger seemed quite...ticked. "Covering your mouths and explaining what the hell is going on calmly might help," she stated giving a slight nod in greeting to both of them, hand still holding Stella's firmly.

Sufferance Tural couldn't help but glare as Inaoro as her grip on Stella was broken due to his positioning. Yeah, he better know what he's doing...Otherwise, she'd have to knock sense into him...Crap! Her bag...She'd left it in the shop. Well, there went any hope of defense from her end. She berated herself quietly before moving in imitation of Inaoro. "They are, darling. I got to see a nice sketch of you. There's a bichrome mage after you. Yellow and blue, if I remember correctly. Just so you two know what you're against," she mumbled. She winced slightly, thinking of any of the families that could've been struck down. One she knew...? She shook her head and prepared herself. She'd get through this. And they would, too, if she had any say in the matter.

Sufferance Tural raised a brow pointedly at Inaoro's scolding. He...certainly seemed determined? Not the most likable of the group...But not the worst, either. She smiled back kindly at the other boy. "Don't apologize to me, darling. You can't help it, I don't think. We'll just have to find you somewhere else to hide, yes? And I'd like to hear the story behind this 'hunt' if you don't mind..." she stated quietly. "Don't worry, Stella. Everything'll be alright," she added, giving another smile, though it would do nothing except maybe leak into her voice.
