Introduction
Welcome to Republic City, whether you are a non-bender, an Equalist, on the council, a pro-bending athlete, in the police, a gangster, or just a normal bender getting caught up in politics. Live life to the fullest. Be involved in all of the things that Republic City has to offer.
The Equalists have just began to rise up. Benders have been getting attacked on the streets, and non-benders are beginning to rally. The council is having trouble with keeping the peace, both sides want action, and they don't know which side to choose. Some of the council members are thinking of eradicating the threat, some don't want to do that. The choice is theres . . . and the Avatar's. Although, she is still in training, and still at the South Pole. They eagerly await Tenzin's return to figure out what is needed best in the city.

Sure, this is set in the Avatar the Last Airbender world. However, this is more of an OC roleplay . . . except for key characters like the new team Avatar, Tenzin and family, Tarrlok, and of course Amon. Those are the characters that I'm willing to let people use that aren't OCs. I dont' want this to go the same way as the TV show. Think of it as an AU of sorts. However THE PERSON WHO WANTS TO PLAY TARRLOK OR AMON/NOATOK MUST KNOW ABOUT THEM AND HAVE SEEN THE SEASON FINALE. This is because we got an insight to their relationship in the season finale.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 3 authors
While he was practicing he could feel his skin shiver, he knew that the full moon was coming tonight, he could feel it in his very being. He was hoping for some fun tonight, hoping that he could beat up some Equalists. He thought all of them were stupid, they weren't being oppressed. Well, from one conflict to the next. Kesuk just wanted a front seat to this conflict. He wanted to be in the center of it, maybe he even wanted to become a hero. Maybe girls would faint to see him just even walk by.
Well, a man could dream. Except his dreams were more violent than most. Except, he didn't care. Grabbing his water bottle that he had brought, he dumped the water on himself and then began to bend the water that he gathered from his body. Now, he wasn't even practicing for the upcoming tournament. He was just practicing against Equalists now. Kesuk could feel his violent side get agitated, excited for the full moon. There was a reason why some called him a demon, and this was it.

Dear Father and Mother,
No, that was wrong.
To my most esteemed parents,
No. Too stilted.
Mom and Dad,
Ugh, definitely not that. She was still upset with them, not begging for them to take her back.
Father,
Iβm writing to you because I canβt seem to figure out what I should say to Mother. I just wanted to let you know that Iβm
The kettle whistled, the sharp, whiney pitch of it penetrating the silence in the hovel. The suddenness of it caused the writing implement in the girlβs hand to veer wildly as she jerked in surprise, slashing out the majority of the last sentence by mistake. Sighing softly, Kimiko crumpled up the parchment and lit it in her hand, the pearlescent flames consuming it until it was nothing but the faintest grey ash. Sheβd paid dearly for the stationary, too, simple as it was. Apparently, good paper was still a luxury, and one that she couldnβt afford if she was going to make her last wage stretch far enough to see her employed again.
It was a shame, too; sheβd adored those kids sheβd nannied for, but if your family needed to move, they needed to move, and there was nothing she could or would do about it. Rising fluidly from her chair, Kimiko went to the kettle and took it off the burner, lamenting the lack of a ceramic pot to properly make tea the old way. Instead, she was forced to consume it by the bag, which had at first offended her sensibilities but was now one of those things that she simply accepted. Sheβd known when sheβd made this choice that it wasnβt going to be as easy, as luxurious as what she was leaving behind, but she was tired of seeing the world around her only through the rosy hues of the glass cage her family had erected to protect her from reality.
In the time since sheβd left, sheβd been jobless, hungry, mugged, and cold. Sick, miserable, and lonely. But sheβd done all of it under her own power, and that was more than she could ever say for any number of nights spent warm and fed and complacent in the estate. Sipping quietly at the tea from a chipped cup and trying not to grimace at the taste, Kimiko abandoned her letter-writing for a moment and turned her attention instead to the small collection of handbills and flyers that dominated one corner of the rickety old table that was presently her sorry excuse for a desk.
Thumbing through the stack, she shook her head and sighed. She just wasnβt qualified for much, if any, of this work. Labor, she might be able to handle, but any foreman would take one look at her soft, flawless skin and obvious tender youth and laugh at her. She knew; sheβd tried twice already. Why hire the delicate-looking girl when there were plenty of strong men also in need of work? She couldnβt blame them, though sheβd been indignant at first.
She had an education, but anything that demanded the things she knew was bound to put her too close to her parentsβ circles again, and she wasnβt ready for them to find her, not yet. She needed somethingβ¦ rougher. Something nobody would expect to find a noblewoman doing. But it needed to be something she was already qualified to do, which was the tricky part. She could cook, or at least sheβd been forced to learn, and clean, but that last job had been the only one of its kind still available, and now it was gone.
She was about to resign herself to another day of wandering around trying to find something when her hand found the corner of a smaller, folded flyer. Figuring it couldnβt hurt, she smoothed it out over the desk and read the words there. Tilting her head to the side, Kimiko set her teacup down on the desk and read it again, more carefully this time, an idea slowly taking root in her mind. Thisβ¦ could it work? It might just be strange enough to make sense.
Seeking Earthbender and Firebender
For Probending Team: Arctic Hippos
Inquire of Kesuk, Arctic Hippos Captain
Sitting back slightly, Kimiko considered it for just a moment longer before a smile broke over her face like sunlight through clouds, and she immediately moved behind the screen that separated her general living area from the one where she kept her futon. Digging through the chest that contained her entire wardrobe of rough garments, she picked out the most durable pieces she could find- a fitted brown shirt with a looser green short-sleeve over it and comfortably-shaped tan trousers, and donned them quickly, sweeping her unwieldy length of ravenβs wing hair into a tail atop her crown.
Pulling on her boots, she grabbed her meager excuse for a coinpurse and tied it to her belt, hurrying out the door enough that she almost forgot to lock it. Not that she had anything worth stealing, anymore, but it was more the privacy that she cherished.
Containing her excitement, she moved at a brisk walk towards the Probending Arena. The flyer hadnβt specified where exactly to find this Kesuk, but she supposed that if he was still recruiting for a Probending team, it made the most sense for him to be there.
The small smile on her face as she walked was a poor indicator of the fire burning hot in her heart.

As he looked at the girl, he could feel the blood in his body begin to rush throughout his entire being. He wanted the full moon, he wanted to test this girl's strength. Except, he knew that there was no way that he would be taking this child on a run to abuse some Equalists. It was then, Kesuk decided to answer her, "Yeah, I'm Kesuk leader of the Arctic Hippos. What's your name and what element can you bend?" These were all things that were required, hell, maybe if he got all of the elements needed, then maybe he could just organize everything for them and go beat up Equalists. Right now, Kesuk saw a win-win situation.

october heard the equalist she had clobbered moan, a sign he was recovering consciousness. october flung 4 blades which where headed to pin down the equalist. the hit their marks, each knife nailed the equalist's arm down to the concreate floor. she looked back to kesuk. "you were saying?"
The setting changes from Republic City to Probending Arena
He hoped that the girl would agree to the terms. It would be cool to have a little child following him around like a little turtle-duck. As she flung the knives at an Equalist Kesuk just stared at her, he didn't even realize that there was an Equalist in the gym. He was getting rusty it seemed. However, the only time he did beat up Equalists was during a full moon. That was when maybe he could take her under his wing full-time, maybe even teach her blood bending. Kesuk grinned, "You seem to have a knack for beating up Equalists. If you want . . . I can teach a trick or two to instill fear in them. Only if you really really want to be an Arctic Hippo that is."
Oh, how he hoped that the girl would jump at the offer, if she did, then there would be some fun tonight. That was guaranteed.
The setting changes from Probending Arena to Republic City
Though sheβd never had cause to enter before, Kimiko knew well enough what the Probending Arena looked likeβit was, after all, one of the most prominent locations in the entire city, the grand domed roof and the four spires at a corner each looming over the surrounding area with grandiose architecture. Given that the day was yet young, it was hardly surprising that it was not lit as magnificently as it was at night, golden against black backdrop, but it was imposing all the same.
Luckily for her, she was a woman used to entering structures too pompous for most people. The thought brought a small smile to Kimikoβs face, and she moved confidently into the main entrance, which was enough for her to go unquestioned. Low security, this place. She supposed it made some measure of sense, since it was usually open to the public. Getting back to the team rooms was a little harder, and it wasnβt long before she was turned around and not quite certain where she was.
Catching the eye of a passing employee, she politely inquired after the Arctic Hippos, which earned her an incredulous stare. βWhat dβya want with that low-class team, miss? Girl like you should be associating with betterβn them.β Kimiko wasnβt sure what the reason for the warning was, but the man was quick to elaborate. βThat Kesuk, heβs a dangerous fella. Real mean, like some kinda half-wild polar bear dog. Nasty, he can get. Still, good bender. If ya really wanna talk to βim, youβll want the next two lefts in a row, then itβs on yer right. Be careful around that one, miss. Wouldnβt wanna see ya hurt.β
Kimiko nodded graciously and thanked him, turning down the hallway heβd indicated. Generally, people did think that she was the kind of person who needed looking after, but this was a bit unusual even for a well-meaning stranger. Sheβd never been warned so thoroughly away from a particular person before; perhaps contrary to the spirit of the advice, it made her curious as to what sort of person this Kesuk could be. Well, curious and a bit wary.
The latter was quite justified when she entered the Arctic Hipposβ training room. A man about her age or slightly older was holding converse with a girl who could not have been older than fourteen, but that wasnβt what drew her attention: it was the man on the floor, pinned there with knives and clearly struggling, ignored by the other two.
Brows furrowing, Kimiko tried to come up with a plausible explanation for that, but it made no sense at all. From his mask, the man was an Equalist, or more likely pretending to be one. There was no way that mysterious leader of theirs had them assaulting people in broad daylight, not if he wanted his organization to last. Everything she knew of him suggested that they worked under the cover of night, when their crimes were more easily disguised.
What was more, whoever had pinned him here had used deadly weapons to do it, and that was an assault charge of its own. Small fortunes that none of the local law enforcement seemed to patrol the arena itself, else whoever had done this would be in for a world of problems. Kimikoβs own first instinct was to fix the situation as best she could; striding across the room, she crouched beside the man. βIβm letting you go, but you are to leave and say nothing of this to anyone,β she advised calmly, and the masked head nodded frantically, apparently eager to just be gone. Pulling the knives from where they were wedged in the floor, she laid them aside carefully and helped him up, watching as he retreated.
Shaking her head, she turned back to the other two, and she wasnβt really sure how to deal with them now. What kind of person just left a fellow pinned down on the floor of a gym? Equalist or not, he was a human being, and deserved at least that much consideration. When her question came, it was in a voice smooth and unruffled as she rose to her feet with fluid grace.
βIs this where one would try out for the Arctic Hippos probending team? Or have I mistakenly wandered into a gang hideout instead?β Her chin lifted slightly, a challenging gesture, though a very small one. It wasnβt really intentional, though the deadpan sarcasm in the last half of the question certainly was. She could enumerate all the ways what theyβd just done was illegal and could earn them time in Lin Bei Fongβs prison system, but she chose not to. Despite what sheβd seen, she still wanted to give these people a chance. Maybe it wasnβt what she thought, after all.
The setting changes from Republic City to Probending Arena
"anywho, kesuk, what is it that you were going to show me?" her attitude changed drasticaly as she said this, from shy, to overpoweringly confident.
He didn't care that the girl had let the person go. They probably weren't an Equalist anyways. They were probably just a fan being stupid. As the October asked what he was going to show her, Kesuk just stared at the girl menacingly, she needed to know her place. Right now, she was just an understudy. Someone who didn't really have a voice in the team yet. He sighed, "I can't do it now. It would have to be later tonight." There was no way he was going to explain in front of another bender that he was going to be doing "illegal" activities tonight.
Sitting down on a nearby crate, Kesuk decided that it was time to see what these two were made of. Staring at both of them he said, "Show me what you got. Show me what it means to be an Arctic Hippo." His eyes gleamed menacingly, he was too excited for tonight, there were parts of him that wished he slept the whole day and just woke up at night. He knew what he was doing could end up badly, but he wasn't going to worry about that until it happened.
Staring at the new girl who had just shown up, he decided to assume she was a firebender. She looked fire nation, so it was a safe assumption. Now all he needed was an earthbender to complete the team.

as the fire died down as, october slowly drifted to sleep, before being ruddily awoken by a large "smash" sound outside the alley. peering out, october saw a equalist van and several benders, one of which, locked really familiar. the equalists were loading said benders into their van. october walked out into the open while throwing two knives at the front tires of the van. "hey!" october yelled, the equalists turned to see october.. however they didn't know who october was, so they only saw a girl with a one visible red eye. this would freak out even a grown man.. but the equalists stood their ground. "who are you?!?" one asked. "me? surely you've heard of me, your "group" killed my dad!" october shouted before dashing towards one equalist thug and crane kicked him to the face, landing cleanly on the ground afterwards.
"get her!" one shouted as he attempted to zap her, which failed miserable and only ended up with him in the river a few feet off. the last equalist ran for it. "you better run!! and don't come back!" october headed to free the benders. "thank you.." the familiar one said. october smiled briefly, before looking at the females arm. "your hurt⦠allow me." october brought out a bottle of water and geba to bend the water around the girl's arm. "your a waterbender??" the girl asked surprised. "yea. my dad taught me how to water bend while my mom taught me how to use my bending to heal." october said before letting her eyes water. "sorry.. its just, my mom and dad were killed by equalist.." october finished her healing and placed the water back into the bottle. "im sorry to hear that." the bender said placing her hand on october's shoulder. october wiped the tears from her eyes before heading back to her alley. "well i best get some sleep.. maybe i will cya around?" october walked down the alley, falling asleep in her "bed".

Would you mind if I were to create another member of the Arctic Hippos probending team? I've got an idea for a fire bender. I should be able to do the sheet sometime today, but I've got some homework to chew through first.
