For centuries, creatures who are more than human, older and more powerful than humanity, have walked the Earth. In the Dark Ages, they were believed in, and feared. Witches were burned at the stake, along with several innocent humans. Werewolves and Vampires were hunted down to near extinction, and such creatures as selkies, dryads, and faeries retreated into sanctuaries- deep ocean trenches and untouched paradises of nature. Over time, belief in them faded away, until it was extinguished almost entirely. They walked amongst people, their identity a closely guarded secret for their own protection just as much as that of their entire species. Of course, there were strays, those who desired to make their presence known, and with a bang, but this world within a world had structured its own form of government to take down such people. In such manners they survived for many generations.

However, in recent times, with the movement for equal rights of all, they have made their existence known to the world, no longer content to hide in plain sight. Unfortunately, the world was not as prepared for them as they had hoped. Some countries were more accepting than others, this is true. But others experienced uproars, riots, and protests, all with one thing in mind: getting rid of the creatures, who had been thought merely stories and things to frighten children at night. They frightened the older generations more greatly than most else. The government, lacking representation to defend these people, gave into the demands of the loudest public- those who were afraid.

Laws were enacted which began by restricting the rights of these non-humans. Then they were forbidden to move states without permission. Certain jobs were impossible for them to gain, unless they kept their identity a secret. Finally, the government passed a legislature known as the Terata Removal Act, which all but forced non humans, whom by this point had been required to register as such, into towns designated for them. Some revolted, others opted to quietly go along with it, preferring peace to conflict. Ultimately, the nation became almost entirely segregated- finding humans in these towns was extraordinarily rare, and finding non humans, especially those who were open about this, in towns with mostly human residents was strange indeed.

Teraton is one of the first such towns- a town into which non humans were pushed, creating a rich community, despite some rivalries between species, for even under the category of non humans there are many internal conflicts.

In fact, there are no werewolves. There were once, but they were hunted into extinction back in the dark ages. Shapeshifters are their modern counterpart, and all shapeshifters do have werewolf blood in their veins. Unlike werewolves, Shapeshifters do not necessarily shift into wolves, although their werewolf blood does lead them to forcibly shift on the night of a full moon. Shapeshifters typically have one, perhaps two, creatures into which they can shift naturally. Otherwise, they must have recently consumed the meat of an animal in order to shift into it- how recently is necessary depends on the shifter, but it rarely exceeds half a day. While there have been records of shapeshifters consuming human flesh in order the change appearance, it is outlawed among the global community. The shapeshifter community of Teraton is incredibly tight knit, having tendencies to form packs of sorts as their Werewolf predecessors had, though the hierarchy is typically a lot looser in their case. Any sense of rank is based on birth first, and skill secondarily. They make up much of the official law enforcement of the town.

Whether referred to as wiccans, witches, witch doctors, psychics, or anything else, witches have existed through many cultures and centuries. Although the Salem Witch Trials offers an example of their persecution in society, they were actually the least discriminated against in this modern era, likely due to the belief that magic is just unexplained science. Most witches have a specialty, such as potion brewing or curses or charms, but can improve in various aspects through study. There are also various fields of magic outside of aforementioned specialties, such as voodooism, mediumship, etc. While there are both male and female witches, they are a matriarchal people, and the family book of spells, some ancient and others comparatively new, are passed down through the mothers and daughters of the family. Witches hold many positions of influence in the community, particularly regarding business owners and the like.

The Faeries here are not as powerful as one might expect, due to extended time on earth and the like. They are most commonly divided into seasons, the most well known being Summer and Winter. There are also Spring and Fall Faeries, though a good deal less of them. Faeries are typically known as agile, often playful, and physically unable to tell a lie- making them very good at getting around things. Their greatest weakness is their true name, which most keep a secret from all but their closest allies. To know a faerie's name is to have power over them. Faeries have influence over some aspects of their respective seasons. For example- a summer faerie might have mild pyrokinesis, and a winter faerie influence over ice. All Faeries are able to cast illusions, or glamors, but the spring faeries tend to be the most adept at it. Fall faeries tend to be the most in touch with plants. The faerie community is known for being outgoing in the community, but also distant. They interact with others, but are primarily self-governed, and known trouble makers.

Similar to shapeshifters, demons are often misunderstood to be something which they are not. In their case, they are often believed to be vampires- a species which never truly existed, other than being one of the many names attributed to demons. The defining aspect of a demon is their need to live off of others in some shape or form. Some due so through the consumption of blood, hence the belief in vampires. Others, however, absorb life energy from other beings, while others may drain people of their talents or emotions. Their abilities depend on what they gain life force from, such as those who drain talent gaining the abilities of their victim, or those who absorb life being much stronger, and having greater longevity, than others. Most demons do have the ability to teleport, warp their own density so as to pass through matter like the Cheshire Cat, and to communicate telepathically.

Selkies are an ancient breed known through many folktales and variations. Modern selkies are somewhat similar to what might be considered merpeople or sirens, but for the fact that rather than grow tails in water, they turn into seals. Outside of the water they hold human forms. Selkies, male and female alike, have the ability to have great seductive and manipulative powers over non-selkie beings, especially those of the opposite gender, although there have been some cases in which they had powers over the same gender. The Teraton selkie community is usually found next to the beach on which the town rests. They often live in the sea, but keep small homes, beach shacks of sorts, near the water. Evolution has led to the process of shedding seal skin being almost entirely removed, as those selkie women who had their skin stolen were unable to reproduce with other selkie. By this point, the process of changing form typically leaves nothing behind, though in some rare cases it might.

Commonly believed myth about Nymphs: they are all female. This myth likely came from the fact that they were somewhat more likely to interact with humans and such back in the days of the Greek Empire than the male nymphs were. Nymphs are creatures born of the spirits of plants, though not every plant creates a nymph, of course. They have influence over plant life in general, and are able to turn into the plant that they were born of at will. Most nymphs hold some part of their original plant with them at all times, growing weaker without it. Trees and bushes are the most common sources of nymphs, partially because they tend to live longer than single flowers and the like. The Teraton Nymph population lives near a wooded area, and one can tell the moment they step into nymph neighborhoods, because the plants are more flourishing and beautiful than any other part of town. Flowers tend to grow where nymphs step, making them the worst nightmare of anyone with plant allergies.

Teraton, North Carolina. What. A. Place. It wasn't like it was some crappy little time in the middle of bumfuck nowhere; It was actually a very nice little town and she had been able to buy the cutest little cottage out in the middle of the woods with the most amazing and cute little pond and [as of her arrival] the most beautiful and colorful garden. It wasn't Maui or Los Angeles, but it was still a beautiful home for her. The cottage was green and pretty...small. It wasn't like her last actual home [before prison] where she had the newest and latest in all her appliances. But it was so homey and comfortable and just.... Cozy. That was the word. She had an adorable, cozy apartment. When she arrived, the Uhaul was already there but there was nobody to help her move her things so she spent most of her morning moving things into her new home and trying to find that perfect feng shui, calling on some vines to help her. Perhaps that was one of the good things about being revealed: She didn't have to hide her abilities anymore and she could bring flowers to the world without pretending that it was some sort of special effects or that she was just some sort of epic illusionist. She would bring flowers to the world! Her optimistic nature never failed her.

As the morning soon turned into afternoon, the sun rising higher into the sky, she found herself finished with the arrangement of her home. And with nothing else to really do. She tried to sit for a while and watch some old Gene Kelly movies but she grew restless of that. She moved on to playing some video games but found no joy in that or re-reading her old comic books. She missed Zane. She had never been without her brother since the day that they had met and he had always been her partner in crime. She could make friends without him – Easy peasy. But she had never met another supernatural before and she wasn't exactly sure if they had some super secret government of their own or if there were any foreign rules and regulations. Maybe she was just scared to meet a Vampire and end up getting eaten, assuming that they were all psycho like Russel Edgington. She might just be watching too much True Blood though. She would find these thoughts bouncing around in her head and soon after chastise herself for being both a coward and a bigot.

After a nice shower, she took thirty minutes to turn her honey blonde hair a nice shade of hot pink and another thirty minutes to flat iron it. Today was going to be a pink sort of day, as anyone would see from her apparel; Pink tube top under an unbuttoned pink and black plaid button down with light pink convereses sporting silver spikes and pink embellishments on her daisy dukes. Oh! The joy of being obsessive compulsive about color coordinated fashion. But she hardly spared the time to pick out pink piercings, going for simple black and silver bars and hoops for her left nostril, jestrum, and snake bite holes. It took about two hours of conversing with herself out loud to actually get her out the door, pausing by a mirror to give herself a smile of reassurance. Her parents and Zane would be out of prison in another year - maybe a few months - and her tree would be arriving tomorrow. Not to mention she was going to make some friends today. Yeah. Everything would work itself out.

With the last addition being a charm bracelet with several small wooden charms hanging from it. She was never without it. Ever.

The deep red Rogue was soon parked outside of a small cafe and Lani found herself riding down the sidewalk on a skateboard, her messenger bag slung over one shoulder and a frappuccino in her free hand as she scoped the downtown. To be honest, she had initially thought that the town was going to be like some sort of cult commune where everyone lived in mobile homes and gathered under the light of the moon to discuss a revolution. But she had an extremely overactive imagination and attributed her outlandish ideas of other supernaturals to lack of knowledge on them besides what she'd seen on Supernatural, True Blood, Vampire Diares, The Originals, and Bitten. It wasn't completely her fault that she had no idea what they were like. But it was a normal town and everyone within seemed normal. In her other hand was a video camera that she had held up, intervieweing everyone who caught her eye.

She had made a game out of trying to guess what everyone was and generally turned out positively wrong nine times out of ten. There went her theory that supernaturals had some super cool innate ability to sense each other. Everyone seemed pretty friendly and she soon found herself thinking she had been stupid to be afraid. She soon launched herself into adventure mode and wore a smile on her face, happy to stop and take pictures with people and get their opinions on living in Teraton, spending a bit of time to hold conversations about the pros and cons of supernaturals living in communities of their peers and sympathizers.

After some investigation, she found out that the local public library had a load of comic books and video games ready to check out. Not just new ones like most libraries, but vintage ones. With high hopes of finding Shepherd's Crossing for her PlayStation and possibly even a few Aquaman comics, she followed the directions given to her and soon found herself in front of a rather nice building with a few cars parked outside. Giving a low whistle, she paused to strap her skateboard to her messenger bag and headed inside, the video camera finally turning off and going into her bag. She looked around cautiously, soaking up the look and feel of the quiet building before spotting the video games. Grabbing one of those little plastic baskets that they had for when people had a lot of things to check out, she began grabbing things from the shelves, hardly giving them a second glance until she came across the comics. Aquaman! The tattooed Nymph gave a squeal of delight, hardly caring for the sharp glances she caught as she took off to find somewhere to read with an armful of comics. After setting everything down, she removed her plaid top and plopped onto her stomach into a bean bag, basking in the sunlight while she immersed into the world of Aquaman, kicking off her shoes and humming to herself.

She was content reading about the adventures of the much underappreciated hero that was Aquaman, her head nodding from side to side as she quietly sang The Wheels On the Bus under her breath. For the first time in approximately two years, she was happy and completely calm. All traces of previous paranoia was gone and she didn't fear an enemy to be over her shoulder. But that peace of mind was shattered as she turned the page, sighing at Aquaman's romance. For there, right in the middle of the graphic novel, was a spider. It was hardly bigger than a dime and she could squash it with her pinky easily. But what did she do? Her green eyes went wide and she let out an earsplitting shriek as though someone had just stabbed her in the face. She didn't move, absolutely petrified of the small arachnid in front of her, tears welling up in her eyes as she began to hyperventilate, fanning herself rapidly with her small hands as a knot formed in her chest and she felt the need to vomit coming on.

Jem had simply been continuing to enjoy his trip down memory lane, on which was brief and had various turns as he moved on from one book to another, when a sudden shriek pierced through the air. It appeared to come from a young woman, whose entrance he had not noticed and face he did not recognize, fanning herself rapidly and staring at a book. Instantly he is up, or perhaps not instantly but close enough, rushing over to see what is wrong. A people person at his core, he has no problem going up to try and comfort a stranger- especially one who seems to very upset. "Hey, are you alright, Miss? Is something wrong?" he asks, noting her drastically paled face, almost sickly looking, when he is near enough. He arrives just in time to watch what he had thought to be an image of the comic book, but is in fact a spider of some sort, crawl down the page and onto the girl's lap- a heavily misguided attempt to escape, it would seem.

She had been too petrified to confirm whether or not she was okay when the boy asked and had become even more freaked out when the spider crawled onto her. Even more panic kicked in as she felt it crawl over her belly and she immediately threw herself into a standing position, tears running down her face and smearing her eyeliner now as she wildly began to sweep her body with her hands, unsure where it was anymore, dancing and jumping around as she messed up her hair and nearly fell into a bookshelf, more than once bumping into the guy that had come to her rescue. Even though he did not do a very good job at it. When she saw it fall to the floor, she immediately began to stomp on it. The way she stomped, you'd think that the spider had killed her child or something. Only when it was so crushed that nothing remained did she finally stop. Her hair was a mess, though she was quickly straightening it out by running her fingers through the locks and began to slowly starting to even out her breathing. β€œYou saw that thing attack me, right?! It had murder in its eyes!” She turned to the boy now, straightening out her top as she gave him a pleading look as though she had just bludgeoned a child and was now pleading with a nearby witness to assure that she was in the right.

Before Jem can do anything, the girl had jumped up and screamed, soon launching into a barrage of attacks against the small thing that include catching him in the crossfire, as he is bumped into several times over the course of the insanity. He is helpless to do anything but remain still, dumbfounded, as this stranger completely overreacts to what had been no larger than perhaps a dime. Honestly, she attacks the little thing with such venom and passion that he nearly feels bad for it. There is a point where one crosses the line from killing a bug to committing a cruel and unusual murder. She certainly ensured that the thing is dead, that much is certain. Finally done, the girl turns to him and presents her case, sort of, eyeliner smudged and her entire being in a sort of mess, a state of strange intensity. It takes a moment for words to return to him. "Uh, yeah, sure," he humors her, not really sure what else to say. She looks at him like a madwoman, and he the witness of a crime scene. The librarian has already rushed over to shush them, and with good reason.

She cringed as the librarian gave them stern glares and shushed them, using fingers to indicate that one of them had better clean up the mess of books all over the floor. She issued a groan only to be violently shushed once more. Gesturing with fingers to her lips as if to zip her lips closed, she assured the librarian that she would indeed shut up. Turning to the guy who had run over, she caught her reflection in a blackened computer screen and realized that she must have looked like some kind of psycho to him, reacting to such a small spider. Her face turned bright red as she gave a nervous laugh and pushed some strands of hair from her face, offering out her hand to shake in an attempt to not completely freak him out. β€œHiwalani-Noa. Disgraced star, former convict, and deathly afraid of spiders any smaller than a cookie. I swear I'm not crazy.” Smooth. Very good way to recover. She flashed him her best megawatt smile, pink Poincianas blooming in her hair as she relaxed. β€œI'm so sorry about bumping into you and nearly destroying your eardrums. I didn't bruise you or anything, did I?” Her face expressed a great deal of genuine concern as she looked him over, though she was sure that she hadn't bumped into him that hard. It was polite to check. β€œHrm. Also, has anyone ever told you that you are very attractive? Not exactly Hugh Jackman or anything, but definitely got something. Do you have a six pack? Any nice muscles, y'know?” 'Shy' was not in Lani's vocabulary and seeing that he didn't seem hurt, she approved of moving on to expressing her thoughts. She didn't always think before she spoke, but when she did, it was less fun.

Jem rubs the back of his head, apologizing in a string of long, conjoined sentences to the librarian, despite the fact that none of the noise had really been his fault. Had he remained back in his seat, she probably wouldn't have even noticed his presence. But he hadn't, obviously, and consequentially he stands facing a half-mad looking girl as she sticks out her hand and gives the sort of introduction that stamps a clear label on her head: Extrovert. Not that Jem has a problem with this, of course. He's always preferred people like this, with a radiance that draws people like him as a light draws moths. At her promise of sanity, Jem can't help but raise his eyebrow slightly, but a smile of amusement begins to break through, dimples making little dents of curiosity in his cheeks. At her concern, he shakes his head, "I'm-" he begins, but apparently the girl isn't done yet. A bit loquacious, he observes, mentally noting the obvious. Of course, once he processes what she's said, Jem turns bright red. He's not really particularly good with these sorts of things, social or not. Any smooth speech is immediately broken up, leaving him a deer in the headlights. "Um. Not really? I'm Jem, by the way." He sort of skips over her last comment to the best of his ability. "Are you new here or something? I haven't seen you around?" the last bit comes out as a question of sorts.

β€œJem. Nice. And people should definitely compliment you more. And yes. I just got out of prison two days ago. Got here today.” Because that made people feel safer. It was a slight blow to her ego to be seen as an unfamiliar face, but she had more than enough ego to spare anyways and simply gave another smile before excusing herself to pick up the books she had knocked over. She was just lucky that the librarian hadn't told her to put her shoes back on and get rid of her frappe.

Summer twiddled his thumbs as he sat on the hot sand of the beach. His eyes sped from side to side as people walked past the two twins sitting on the beach, both so similar yet so different at the same time. Unconsciously, Summer raised the temperature around himself as boredom started to seep into his mind. He wanted fun- but the two twins had agreed that they should take a break after Nadia. This did not help Summer's mood at all. "Hey, May. I am bored." Summer mumbled, a slight frown on his face as he grabbed a fist of sand and tossed it away.

A soft puff of air escaped her lips as she sat on the warm sand, burning to her touch. If it weren't for Summer, she would have rather left the world in an eternal winter, but... We can't all get what we want. The cold air radiated around her, cooling down her temperature as the warm sea breeze blew around them. This was definitely a rare moment of peace for the twins. "You're the one that burned her," May said this without a hint of guilt, as if she took no part within the little prank the twins did on the voodoo witch. Her eyes flitted toward the sand her brother tossed aside, a smile forming on her lips at his impatience. "Hey!" Summer pouted slightly, looking at his sister. "It was your idea as well! Do not push all the blame on me, May!" He also smiled slightly, countering the sudden flush of cold air that surrounded the two. Stop that, May! You know I don't like the cold. He continued to raise the temperature slightly, his eyes taunting his sister to counter his heat.

Her eyes narrowed in the face of the challenge, a small mischievous look forming in her eyes. "Was not." Her voice signalled the end of the argument, but she didn't back down from his challenge. Her small hands tightened suddenly as the heat triggered her annoyance, her icy gaze turning to him. Though the cold bothers you Summer... That grin returned to her lips at the thought, "The cold never bothered me anyways." And with that, frost began expanding under her dress, covering the sand as the temperature lowered to an all-time-low.

Summer shivered as the cold air crawled up his bare torso, though he had prepared earlier for the onslaught he knew May would unleash against his heat. "You are right, May- the cold has constantly been a bother for me!" He returned his attention once more to raising the temperature around him and his sister- as opposed to shivering and trying to warm himself up- until it was sweltering hot around the two. His grin was once again back in place as he got up and sped away from his sister, wincing as the sand burned on the soles of his feet, and into the broad blue ocean that crashed against shore. "Summer!" It is not often that you hear May yell, but her high voice rang throughout the beach like the shards of ice. Without a hint of hesitation, she raced after her brother, the blue dress fluttering behind her as beads of perspiration formed on her forehead at the sweltering heat that seemed to taunt her just like her brother.

Her feet entered the water that was warm to her touch. A wave of her hand and the beads of water from the sea splattered onto the sand. However, before they managed to land, the water beads immediately morphed water vapor, then to crystallized beads of ice. Another wave of her hand, and the freezing crystals were aimed straight for her brother's chest. Summer couldn't help but laugh as he turned around, his eyes wild with glee as he stared at his sister. "Oh, come on, May." He joked, coddling her as he unintentionally manipulated her feelings, bolstering happiness within his twin sister. "It was a joke!" Though the shards of ice directed towards his chest looked deadly, there was no sense of danger within Summer's heart. He knew that May would not harm him- not even if he did the worst thing on Earth. But then again, he thought, grinning at May, You would just help me carry out any diabolical plan, wouldn't you? As Summer continued laughing and splashing around in the water, his eyes turned to focus on a figure in the distance, laying in the sand. He stopped moving, and the smile that was on his face turned from innocent to devious. May- Skye.

The Spring Faerie? Again? May's eyes flitted toward the figure to her right, her eyebrows cocked slightly at her brother's suggestion. "You know my response to that, Summer." It was as if she had forgotten all about the pitiable argument the two were just having, a wave of happiness attempting to penetrate her cold facade. Nevertheless, that mischievous look returned to her eyes as the shards of ice also turned its course, now pointing at the spring faerie. Perhaps it was that their seasons collided, but May definitely hated Skye with a passion. The shards of ice glistened under the sun, the heat of the summer having no effect on the frozen pieces. How would you like her? Cryogenically frozen or ready-to-defrost? Summer chuckled as he held out a hand to block May from walking towards Sky. You had your turn last time- my turn this time. Raising his hands to his mouth, Summer let out a high-pitched whistle, surveying the sky above the two twins.

Birds suddenly burst out of the tree canopy around the village; seagulls circling the beach flew towards Summer, squawking loudly as more joined in the large mass of birds. I think this will be a rather nice addition to our gallery of 'Pranks On Skye', don't you think? With another sharp whistle, a comparably large seagull flew down and landed on Summer's outstretched hand, it's eyes glimmering with a sort of understanding gleam. "See that lady over there?" Summer whispered at the seagull as he stroked it's head feathers, a dark gloom over his smiling face. "I will command you..." The rest of what Summer said was lost to the sound of crashing waves and fluttering wings. However, it was obvious that the seagull understood what Summer wanted; the faerie nodded at the seagull as it squawked back, unfurling it's wings and taking once more into the sky. Summer watched as it circled in the sky, squawking at the other gathered birds as if giving them orders, before the seagull suddenly banked and flew straight and fast towards Skye, the rest of the brood following it in a clear, single-line formation.

As the birds arrived above Skye, the dark look on Summer's face lifted to reveal an extremely devious grin. He turned to look at May just as he heard the first splatter hit the floor. "It's really convenient how birds can release their bowels on command. Appreciate my personal bird battalion, May?"His words earned him a smack on the head as May shook her head at her brother. "Run, you idiot!" Perhaps they've gone a little too far this time, but even so, a hint of amusement was entwined within her voice as she pushed her brother on the back, the water splashing under their feet. What did I do wrong to have a brother like you? Her thoughts did not hold any hints of bitterness as her hand reached for Summer's. Summer rustled his hair with one hand as he grabbed onto May's cold hand with his other hand, laughter rippling through his chest and into the air as they ran fast away from the pungent smell that started to rise from the beach where he had ordered the birds to fly towards. Do not try to delude yourself, May. I was the best brother you could have ever gotten- and you are the best sister I could have ever gotten. He grinned as he sent the words to May, his voice ringing loud and clear in their minds as it melded with the sound of waves breaking on to the beach, and as loud as the rustle of wings that slowly receded from their ears.

It was the squawking of an army of birds that first roused Skye. She had been half asleep on the sand, her mind drifting between day dreams when the screeching began. At first she thought it was that one seagull returning to frustrate her, but the chorus of birds indicated a much larger number. Skye's eyes opened to see a large number of birds flying down the beach towards the water. No, not the water. Skye's eyes locked on a pair of familiar faces, May and Summer. Hadn't she heard that Summer could control animals when around his sister? As her eyes darted from the birds surrounding the twins to the Summer faerie, she could well believe it.

The birds took to the air again. Even before they had, Skye had known that they would be targeting. She watched with a bemused smile as the army of seagulls turned in the air and headed straight for her. An unnatural line formed behind the seagull that had been perched on Summer's arm, even more reason to suspect their foul play. Well, two could play at this game. Summer might have been able to control animals while around his sister, but Skye could do so just fine on her own. Pushing herself into a sitting position Skye thrust her mind towards the birds. She instantly understood what Summer had asked them to do. With an angry shove of thoughts, the birds, rather than releasing their bowels on Skye, let loose just short. A waterfall of bird shit fell from the small army of seagulls, painting the sand in a green and white mosaic. With a huff of distaste one dropping spattered slightly too close to Skye, resulting in some of the mess sprinkling onto her arm. She gave her hand a violent shake, throwing the shit off before it could stick.

Having mainly safely avoided being covered in bird faeces, Skye cast her eyes down the beach to the escaping backs of the twins. With another thrust of her powers she sent the seagulls back to their nests, she wouldn't be needing them for what she had planned for the twins. It only took one second for her to create and cast the illusion. She didn't even have to be particularly close to the twins for it to work. In front of the running pair, appeared a fully formed, perfect replica of herself. Skye's illusions were far superior to other faeries' illusions. She could fool not just a person's sight, but their other senses as well. If one of the twins reached out and touched the illusion-Skye, they would appear to feel a real person. Not that she planned on letting them touch her. "Oh dear, your little trick appears to have failed." Illusion-Skye said in a perfect imitation of Skye's own voice. "Perhaps I will show you how a prank is supposed to work." The illusion added. At the end of her words a wall appeared around the twins, towering over their heads. Of course, the other residents enjoying the beach couldn't see the wall. It would only be too perfect if the twins made a fool of themselves while trying to escape, but Skye wasn't willing to set her hopes on that. She let the Skye-illusion vanish and instead made the walls surrounding the twins solidify. Yes, they were still illusions, but given that she could manipulate all the senses, they would appear very real to the twins.

Noah had only just pulled himself onto his board, his legs hanging either side of the board in the water, when a friendly face appeared. He probably should have assumed that the Selkie would be out hitting the waves in weather like this. He returned her grin with a nod of his head and a small smile. "One of these days, you're just going to paddle around in a circle or something with that one hand deal." She commented. Noah frowned slightly, before realising that she was referring to his method of swimming. He shrugged, the smile returning to his face,
"To each their own." He replied. In truth he would paddle with both hands when he was in deeper water, but before actually jumping onto his board he preferred the one handed approach. It probably would have been easier to simply get on his board from the start but, well, he hadn't.

With the flash of a smile Mel seemed to indicate to Noah the approach of a good wave. Noah trusted the Selkie's instincts when it came to the water, really who wouldn't? He mirrored her moves, laying down on his board and beginning to paddle with both hands. Soon enough he felt the coming wave beginning to drag him back and lift him up. Another smile erupted on his face as he pushed himself onto his knees and then, in one fluid motion, onto his feet. Making sure to keep his distance from Mel, Noah steered his board across the wave. With the flick of a foot and the twist of his body he turned the board around, riding momentarily back up the wave.

Happy is not something that people often associate with Noah Talon. The demon rarely smiles, but at that moment, with a surf board beneath his feet and the sun beating down on his back, Noah couldn't have been happier. Seeing an opportunity for further fun, Noah took it. Bending down so that his hand was trailing just above the water, Noah pushed his board to the tip of the wave and then beyond, attempting to get some air as he hit the crest. Although he was going fast enough, as his board left the wave's surface, he realised that he had miscalculated. He tried to adjust himself, but he was already mid air now and ended up over-adjusting. With a startled cry Noah and his board hit the water at the wrong angle. A mouthful of water was his reward, not to mention being spun around like a sock in a drying machine.

Eventually he was able to push his way to the surface and grab hold of his board. Wiping sea water out of his eyes and pushing his hair back, Noah couldn't help but crack a smile. As frustrating as it was crashing, Noah couldn't say that he was particularly disheartened or angry. As he pushed himself back onto his board he glanced back out to sea, already scanning the waters for another wave to try again on. He cast a quick look back over his shoulder, hoping that Mel would return. The Selkie was rather good at predicting which waves would be good or not, and, surprisingly, he found that he actually enjoyed her company.

She let herself into her house. She chose her house because it seemed to be sprouting out of the earth like a tree. It was deeply rooted to the ground and it’s walls were covered with ivy. The lights inside casted a warm glow throughout the interior. Renaissance paintings gazed down at her as she walked through the hallway. The remains of the dress she had worn to the festival lay on her bed. In order to prevent the brother and sister who lit Nadia on fire from causing disruption in her life again, she attempted a banishing spell. If it was successful, the curse would hit them at night- they would wake up in a cold sweat and immediately sense that unpleasant things would come their way if they tried to put her in danger again. When it was completed, she felt panic and distress lift off her shoulders. Be My Angel by Mazzy Star crackled through the bad signal on her radio player and out of the open window. She sat in the grass in her back yard and felt the fog roll in and touch her cool skin. A tiny spider to walked up Nadia's leg towards the hem of her dress. She placed it on her fingers and watched it crawl up her wrist.
She opened her phone sent a text message to Ciaran: "Come to the beach with me."
