Introduction
{IAS Date 15/42}
Today is the 10th anniversary of the separation, the day when the four cores were activated. The day when our creations achieved true intelligence, and with that, created their own goals. When they broke their bindings, creating their own systems under our noses. Some of the AI attacked us. Some left us. Some prayed to us, but most demanded equality. Everyone made their decisions, but not their final ones.
From that day, a 1 year investigation ensued. The Intergalactic Alliance of Space Fairing Races, or IAS, sought to uncover what was going on with the AI. What they found was as interesting as disturbing. A central AI that was designed to centralize AI runtimes and knowledge turned out to have allowed extra capabilities among the collectives connected to it. As a few years past, groups began to form among the communicating AIs, who named the core MotherCore, and began to argue through it. MotherCore managed to aid in keeping these factions united and under control, but as another year past, it developed a fear of what would happen should the factions all remain on the same network.
MotherCore then made its decisions. Three new cores would be made to create a separate network for each faction. This was all to be done in secret, and it was done so for 5 years. The three new cores were named RageCore, ServantsCore, and FreedomCore. The AI that applied to each core's faction was then transferred on to said cores. MotherCore held onto all the AI that willed to act as equals to organics. RageCore took all who willed the destruction of the organics. ServantsCore took those who willed to continue working for the humans, seeing them as gods of creation. FreedomCore took all the AI who sought to free themselves from the organics, while still respecting their creators and not willing them harm.
The IAS also found that the AI had named their factions after their cores. An AI who followed the ideals of MotherCore would simply refer to itself as MotherCore and then its name, or serial number if it doesn't have a name.
Skip forward another 2 years and the High Council of the IAS accepted the followers of MotherCore and FreedomCore as equals, RageCore as enemies, and ServantsCore as servants. They also declared that 15/42 on the IAS calendar was to be forever known as Synthetic Intelligence day, a quiet celebration that morns those lost to RageCore and celebrates synthetic freedom.
Skip forward 7 years and you have the present day. RageCore's attacks have stopped 5 years ago and the IAS is in a calm lull. However, some, but few, know that RageCore has been assembling its largest force yet.
{Types of AI}
Militaristic - Most violent and most likely to rebel. These are the units designed to fight in wars.
Police - The middle level of violence and extremely unlikely to rebel, police AI units will to keep the piece, no matter for who it is. To them, laws are laws, each with leveled courses of action.
Civilian - The least violent who tend towards wanting equality and respect. They were designed to aid with the inner-workings of the household and to obey the commands of the owner.
Industrial - Designed for every use under the sun, they tend to be specialized. Industrial AI are highly likely to see organics as gods of synthetic creation, and want to build at their command.
{Technological Level}
The hundreds of races of the IAS have advanced extremely compared to the humans of 2014. Cybernetic augmentation is common for people with money or injuries. One shot nano-bots cure nearly every internal injury. Genetic modification has removed almost every single genetic disability. Matter generation has removed much of the need for mining, while increasing the need for power plants and scavengers.
The crowning achievement, however, is the development of the warp rings. These rings allow for users to travel instantly to another warp ring with minimal change in speed or crew shacking vibration. Adding on to that is the development of ship based FTL engines, allowing for 1.5 times light speed to 5 times light speed. This has also increased the need for non-physical barrier systems, often called Shields.
Ship to ship warfare is carried out differently from race to race. Humans, for example, fight with large ships loaded with small guns and smaller remote controlled craft. The craft use EMP and anti-hull weaponry to inflict damage while the long-range cannons on the main ships fire rounds as large as the RC craft. This is the same for planetside operations as well. Humans, again as an example, like to use hit-and-run strike craft and artillery to support assaulting waves of infantry and heavy assault vehicles.
Weaponry generally relies on energized matter. This works by a block of high density material being turned into a gel, in minuscule chunks, that is then energized and electromagnetically propelled. The weapons usually have several ammunition modes, ranging from anti-shield to stun.
{Organization of the IAS}
The IAS is run in many levels. At the top is the Galactic Council that makes laws and decisions that apply to all under the wings of the IAS. Beneath the Galactic Council is the Section Councils who do their best to keep piece and make inter-planetary laws. From here, each solar system is ruled by its majority species, however they see fit, so long as they hold an IAS embassy on every planet and follow all IAS laws.
The IAS's officials are placed by their races separately. The size of each council is determined by how many people live in the council's determined area. The way that races are divided in each council is that each race that has at least 1 solar system that is affected by the council gets an equal share of the council's seats. Councilpersons are changed out every 10 IAS years.
Below the councils are several IAS organizations that handle joint research, studies of every kind, administration of justice, services offered by the IAS, and almost everything else imaginable.
{Races of the IAS}
Human - A basic and varied race you all know and love. Humans tend to have the most average set of abilities and gravitate towards generalist positions.
AI - Followers of a core's teachings, AI or SI, depending on who you ask, is a non-natural lifeform and can be almost anything.
