Introduction

Introduction:

Year 1381 of the current era. The world is divided in kingdoms, republics, independent cities and empires. Within these, we find small mountain towns, important merchant cities, port cities, large capitals, and many other places. This is the land of Woarel. Magic exists in this world. However, only really skillful magicians have really mastered its use, and they live isolated. However, it has been a few decades now since a new way of magic was discovered: Songs. In the past, it was proved that human voice was able to cast magic of diferent sorts by singing; from healing wounds, to sending powerful waves of energy, nearly everything can be achieved by singing. But the main skill is that of altering the human mind. This is the reason that big armies have the songstresses in battle, using their chants to infuse bravery to their soldiers, as well as trying to bring fear to the enemy. Up to now, very few males have achieved the necessary voice level to become part of the select group of "those who sing for the land", as they are called by some. Due to the specific characteristics of the female voice, it turns to be easier for them to be able to cast the hidden powers. Since then, many academies have been created (called Akademiyi -Akademiye in plural), to be able to train the so-called "soldiers of the future". Inhabited by many, this land doesn't escape its own problems, and only a century after the Sixty-Year-War, the land is suddenly found at a moment where tension arises, and although the different countries that exist are trying to avoid war at all costs, it's something that many see as unavoidable.

A first display of what could happen in the future was when the Sixty-Year-War was about to be reenacted, by the same actors, a few years ago. A Wissean Patrol and a small group of soldiers from Jowav entered into battle. Tension arised because Jowav would say that Wisse started the attack, whereas Wisse mantained this was false. The truth was never known, and they made a pact, trying to forget and forgive, because, even with this conflict, both countries were trying hard to improve their relationship. However, recently, the empires are being the biggest threat of war.

The different places:

Kingdom of Sobaya: This kingdom is a peaceful place. In the middle of the desert, a city is found, surrounding a huge oasis. They haven't been involved in a war for around 250 years. They have a small Akademiyi, specialized in water-based songs. Their current leader is interested in opening the city to the other countries, improving the trade and the diplomatic relationships.

Ruled by King Vanarael II
Nowadays, there is a heir to the throne.
The merchant guild is one of the most powerful groups in the kingdom.
Their diplomats are skilled and devoted to the kingdom.
Capital city is Darganav.

Kingdom of Wisse: One of the kingdoms who was involved in the Sixty-Year-War. To the north of the land, their classic landscape is that of a snowy forest, or mountain. Their Akademiye (there are 2 of them) are specialized in fire-based songs. Their leader wants to restore the relationship with Jowav, their enemy during the Sixty-Year-War. Wisse used to be very rich, but after the war, the kingdom has lost its glory.

Ruled by King Saflen I
Nowadays there is a heir to the throne.
The Diplomats used to be as good as Sobaya's, but lately they're struggling to make advances with Jowav.
A unique job exists within Wisse, and it's that of the water-seller, people who pick snow and turn it into water, to sell it.
Capital city is Fliame.

Kingdom of Jowav: Their landscapes consist of very cold barren earth, without many places to grow vegetables, meaning the cities are scattered through the kingdom. Sharing the northern part of the land with Wisse, a rivalry between the two countries' kings led to a massacre during the Sixty-Year-War, a century ago. Jowav had always been under the shadow of Wisse, and a century ago, the tension eventually led to a war with them. They are now even poorer than Wisse. They don't have any Akademiyi, so they send their potential songstresses abroad. Their leader is trying slowly to improve the kingdom's economy and save it from being abducted, or even attacked, while not trusting Wisse very much.

(King Ceitan VIII - Deceased) - Now ruled by General Caspian, in the meantime, while the conflict goes on.
Nowadays there is not a heir to the throne.
Their generals are between the fiercest of Woarel, due to the fact they have to deal with low resources.
Their songstresses are trained mainly in Wisse, due to vicinity.
Capital city is Lanagh.

Kingdom of Trianea: A kingdom located on the west coast, consisting of green places with big forests, mountains, and a shore, where several port cities are. Trianea is well-known for their very different geography, meaning they have sea, rivers, mountains, and forests. It's nor particularly cold or hot. They have the biggest Akademiyi in all the land, specialized in life-based songs that are able to heal. It is said to be one of the toughest Akademiyi, requiring more level to be able to unveil the powers. King of Trianea is a calm wise man who is trying his best to avoid war, without setting his goals too high.

King Alomia I
Nowadays there is a heir to the throne.
Trianea is devoted to the peace, and has their Akademiyi with a high reputation.
Traditional jobs such as smiths and carpenters are highly-reputated, as well.
The port city of Aneastor is one of the most important cities, and it's so near the capital that it's been suggested they could merge, soon.
Capital city is Rolad'n.

Republic of Azure: A totally neutral land. Azure has avoided problems for as long as everyone can remember. They proclaim their system is, by far, the best governing system in all the land. They have no enemies nor allies, so nearly everyone is welcome inside the lands of the Republic. It is located in an island in front of Trianean shores, and its particularity is that their capital is completely built over the sea, with many bridges crossing the water and using water channels as a sort of streets. They have the smallest Akademiyi in all the land, where light-holy-based songs are taught. It is, by far, the toughest of the lot, and they require a huge level to even pass their tests. The council in Azure works to prevent problems in the city, and if problems were to come, avoid the Republic being involved.

Ruled by the Council.
The former royal family disappeared after willingly stopping reigning. Who their descendants are is unknown.
Azure is a mysterious land, and whereas their citizens travel around the world, it is hard to meet someone who has actually been there. Specially Areza, which is rumored to be the most beautiful city in the land.
Jewellers, painters, and writters of Azure are well-known.
Capital city is Areza

Merchant City of Loein: A city that controls nearly all the trade in the land. Strategically located to the middle of the whole land, they have easy access to every place. It is also neutral, although it was once raided by the Yowlen Empire, many decades ago. It's a rocky place with many roads that lead to the different places. Those roads were built by their workers. They have a merchant guild leader as the leader of the city, and he only wants money income to increase, to build the legend of the "Golden City of Loein".

Ruled by Crell Genaim, leader of the Loein Merchant Guild.
It is said that he will choose the heir to his position, but it has not been said whether it would be a single person, or a group.
A very crowded city, always full of people of many places.
Loein is very rich, thanks to the merchants.
The square at the center of the city is the main place to buy and sell stuff.

Grenaian Empire (Empire of Grenaia): By far the most belligerent place in the whole land. To the south, and with their tropical landscape, it is only hiding the truth of their leader's intentions to take over the whole continent. Palm trees and turquoise waters are a big contrast with their dark huge cities, place for mercenaries and such people. They have the dark-based-songs Akademiyi.

Ruled by Emperor Mapelia
Nowadays, there is a heir to the empire.
Many jobs are done in Grenaia, obviously, but mercenaries, assassins, and thieves are all over the place.
The Assassin guild is said to be one of the most dangerous groups in Woarel.
Capital city is Mapeliard. (named after the Emperor)

Yowlen Empire (Empire of Yowle): A young Empire, with a leader who wants to expand his frontiers. Neighbour of Grenaia, they want to avoid problems with the other Empire, and try to take over Jowav by negotiating with them. Dark water shores with rocky places and big mountains, it is very much the opposite to Trianea. Their approach as an Empire is that of trying to avoid war. Their Akademiyi is based in earth songs.

Ruled by Emperor Yahehay
Nowadays, there is not a heir to the empire.
It is rumored that the emperor is planning on transforming the empire into a Kingdom, thus giving the throne to his son, although the Queen is pressing the emperor to turn Yowle into a Republic, such as Azure.
Farmers and shepherds have the will to succeed, and so they are better than in many other places.
Capital city is Yahehay. (the Emperor picked the name for the city himself)

Independent City of Veton: A city founded around their Akademiyi, teaching wind-based songs. Their location is not within any kingdom or empire, being then an easy target for possible expansions. Their landscape is that of green plains, where the city is sitting. They have a leader called "Commander", who simply fights for the best situation possible for Veton. They might become allies of whoever offered protection to their people.

Ruled by the Commander, Haf Lewsan.
The townspeople chose their Commander, but he will choose the next one.
Not really a crowded place, but it is common for people to stop there, while travelling.
The city is full of Pub's and Inn's.
The name came after its first Mayor, centuries ago.

Holy City of Moncray: A city founded by a religious group trying to gain followers. The city is located near Veton, but has been able to reach a pact with each and every Kingdom and Empire, so they cannot attack the city, which would remain not only neutral, but "untouchable". Their landscape is mainly the same as Veton. However, a huge river crosses the city, so mills are everywhere. Their leader is the leader of the religious faction in the city. They're not interested in wars.

Ruled by the High Priest Crayle.
Nearly everyone who lives there follows their religion, but many people chose to live here because of the security it gives.
Really crowded place, but the city is also huge.
They have nearly anything, from merchants to assassins, having jewellers and smiths, and many other jobs.
Surprisingly, any kind of magic is forbidden inside the city, meaning that any known mage can not enter. In addition, songstresses are not allowed to enter, as well, since it is considered that their job is blasphemy.

The Setting: Since tension is common thing in Woarel, everyone fears a war is about to begin. Because of this, all the kingdoms and empires are gathering troops and recruiting mercenaries. The vast majority of the mages remain neutral, although there are a few who are joining some of the parties. As for the songstresses, they are being added to the armies, recently. However, no matter how dangerous this times seem to be, everyone tries to avoid thinking about it, and they go on with their lives. At the Akademiye, everyone knows they're playing an important role in the upcoming conflicts. Conflicts, some say, that will bring an end to all the battles. Nobody knows what the future will bring, but one thing remains sure. Very hard times are to come, perhaps even before the war.

The story begins at a port city of Trianea, where a ship has just arrived from Azera. The city, bustling with people, is near the Akademiyi of the kingdom, and a young girl, a newcomer to the life-based Akademiyi, is anxious about what she'll find there.

Trianea Akademiyi classes:

The singing classes' meaning is obvious. People practicing to sing.

Voice classes are mainly to gain control over one self's voice, through exercices like maintaining the voice in a note for as long as possible. They are all about voice control, rather than singing. People work in tone, pitch, consistency, etc.

Theoretical classes are, of course, "how to" sing well, and specially, how to sing the life based songs.

Bravery classes have the goal of preparing the songstresses mentally for any kind of conflict, to avoid them running away from the battlefield, abandoning the soldiers.

Psicological classes are similar to bravery, but they also help with daily things, trying to help the songstresses to cope with stress, as well as some small parts of the course being directed to their basic abilities like bringing fear to the enemy, etc.

Purity classes are somewhat the only "stupid" course in the Akademiyi. It's actually a course on "how to behave well". How to eat politely, how to be with the nobility, how to be a nice girl (or boy, when there is any of them). How not to do some kind of things with the opposite (or not opposite, depending on the case) gender. Many people think this class should be removed, because it's actually not allowing freedom within the songstresses, specially on the love side of life. This class is held because, traditionally, songstresses are supposed to devote their life to singing, without anything distracting them from that.

Finally the last of the classes, music writting, is optional, but it allows students to try their hand at writting songs. When written for an specific voice, songs can draw the real power of the person. However, it has been proved to be quite difficult.

NOTES: Even though each Akademiyi has its own special song-type, they all teach the braver and fear tactics, being those the most important basics of any songstress. This is based in a fantasy-pseudo-medieval-world.

Akademiye students wear tunics and nothing else, not even undergarments, since it is believed songstresses must remain as pure as possible, so they are only supposed to wear a single piece of clothing. It is not known where or why this tradition started, but it is followed in all the Akademiye.

The colors of the Akademiyi tunic's trimmings are as it follows:

Sobaya - Blue
Wisse - Red
Trianea - Green
Azure - No trimmings, just a black line
Grenaia - Their tunics are completely black
Yowlen - Brown
Veton - Yellow

Even if there are not most males who can sing, Akademiye have male teachers, who know the theory and can teach it. But only females teach practical classes.

Months of the year:

-Month of Snow
-Month of Wind
-Month of Silence
-Month of Rain
-Month of Life
-Month of Sun
-Month of Fire
-Month of Day
-Month of Songs
-Month of Night
-Month of Stars
-Month of Moon

Those who play here are not forced to have a character who is a student at an Akademiyi. Actually, any kind of person is ok. Students, teachers, soldiers, merchants, ... everyone could be a main character who would be decisive for the future of Woarel.

((Seya))

Soft breeze blowing on Seya's face. Her waist-length blond hair was dancing along with the wind, and she observed the blue sea, sparkling with the shining sun, with her deep green eyes. Even though her skin was pale, it looked healthy, and her rounded facial features seemed to show her happiness for the day. All was well, and it was a perfect day for the beginning of a new life. Actually, what a wonderful day was receiving her! Arriving to the Portuary City of Aneastor, the sea gate to the Kingdom of Trianea, Seya Raghen was ready to enter the prestigious Akademiyi of Trianea, where she would learn everything about life-based songs. After some days sailing the calm sea, the beautiful Azurean-crafted ship was finally arriving to the pier. Seya was glad that they hadn't met any storm that could have upset the trip. The young girl, moving along with the vessel, which was searching for a proper spot to stop, observed the busy city. The slender figure of the girl walked around the ship, nervously, trying to take in as much as possible about this new place, her small hands wiping the odd drop of sweat on her face.

Before leaving the ship, every person aboard was supposed to go through some kind of security procedure. "Excuse me, miss; what is your name?" an ambassador of Trianea spoke. Apparently, lately Trianea was being very careful with the people entering the kingdom, controling who was getting in. That would make it easier for them to catch a criminal, if one dared sneak past the tight Trianean security.

"I am Seya Raghen, graduate student from the Akademiyi in Areza. I came here to join the Trianea Akademiyi in the high hills behind Aneastor..." while she said that, Seya handed in a letter she had brought with her. She had been given this letter back in Azure. The principal of the Areza Akademiyi had told her to give the letter to the ambassador in Trianea; he would know what to do.

"Oh! A songstress, I see!" his face became brighter, as he read the letter. He gave it back to the girl, once he was done with it, and told her to follow him. "By the way... welcome to the Kingdom of Trianea!"

Songstresses were respected all across the land, in general. They were really important when fighting, as their main job was to boost the troops' morale with their songs. While in the past there was a legend that said that singing made the troops perform better, nowadays the songs were also important in terms of magic help.

Seya checked out everything she could see from the height of the ship, and she realised that the city was surprisingly busy. The streets were full of people. To think that there would be even more people once she left the docks... it made her feel sort of dizzy. Areza was quite populated as well, but it was different; more calm. She liked the atmoshphere of Areza. Actually, she was surprised about the looks of Aneastor. It was so different to the cities back home. The architecture seemed less polished, more sturdy, and definitely not as beautiful. But it had its own charm.

Seya followed the ambassador into the city, with two guards by their side. She wasn't used to such protection. It was strange to think songstresses were treated with such reverence in this kingdom, or were they just worried she might be a spy?

"Thank you, ser..." Seya's voice trailed off, waiting for the man to say his name.

"I'm Gantoine, lady Raghen. Mack Gantoine. I will remain at your disposal if you need anything until you decide to leave the city. I assume you would not be staying here for long?" his voice showed some concern, but he seemed to want her to leave to the Akademiyi already. He didn't seem like a bad person, but surely he thought he had far more important things to do than to protect a young girl. After all, she didn't look suspicious; at least that was her opinion.

"Thank you, ser Gantoine. I will certainly not be staying for long. Depending on the transport methods I find, I might even leave today. If I had not such luck, I would leave by dawn tomorrow, so I would only need to find a place where I could sleep tonight."

The man decided, seeing that she was actually leaving soon, to act nicely and tell her his address, just in case she needed anything. "If you do need help, come see me at any time. I will do my best to help you. Now, if you will excuse me, there is some work I have to do, and I am afraid no one else can do it...". Smiling gently, the man left, taking the two guards with him. She was finally on her own. It was a strange feeling, for the first time going to a foreign kingdom, and without her family!

As Seya walked around the city, she realised people gave her strange looks. Of course, she was still wearing an Akademiyi dress, but... it was not Trianea's, but Azure's. This meant she was wearing all white clothes with a single black line. People were probably not used to see that kind of clothes here. She should change to her new clothes as soon as possible... but where could she do that? Of course, she shouldn't call Gantoine just for a place to change her clothes. She would look just like a spoiled little girl, and that was exactly what she wanted to avoid.

Maybe it would be a good idea to walk to the limit of the city, for the time being. It took quite a while for Seya to get there, as the city was quite big. In the end, when she made it, what she saw was a wall that showing where the city ended. In a reckless moment, she decided to go out of the city, take the Trianea Akademiyi tunic and change her clothes right there. Fortunately, since it only took her a few seconds to do it, there was nothing she should worry about.

Looking around, Seya saw a small plain in front of her, with a tight road coming out from the city and narrowly climbing the cliff. On top of it lay the Trianea Akademiyi. It was a classy building, one that was very big, too. She had seen it from the sea, when she was nearing Aneastor. And right then, she heard something behind her. A horse cart was approaching her at a slow speed.

Sitting on the cart and directing the horse was an old man. He looked really healthy and he was quite big. By the looks of it, he was taking supplies to the Akademiyi. "Excuse me, kind man. Would it be ok if this humble student asked for a ride to the Akademiyi? It seems you are going there."

The man accepted with a loud laugh. He said of course he'd help a young lady such as herself. Upon hearing that, Seya bowed to the man and sat at the back of the cart. She felt the cold breeze under her clothes, while climbing, but the magnificent view of the city from such height was making up for it. Such a big harbor, the bustling city... she was starting to believe that coming all the way there was being worth the effort. She tried to imagine all the wonders that were still left for her to see.

The road got narrower and more difficult as they kept climbing the cliff, but the man was exceptionally skilled, and he made it without more trouble. Finally, Seya had made it to her new Akademiyi. Before leaving the man, though, she reached her back and gave him a loaf of bread, as a way of thanking him. The man directed the cart to the supplies' back gate, while Seya admired the beautiful building before entering by the front door.

Some students looked at her. It was only natural, she was a new face who was already wearing their typical tunic!

(Reito)

The sun patted down gently to the ground as the three walked. Reito was the one in the back, following the two diplomats. They were lucky to have caught a break from walking all the way to Aneastor, by a passing cart. Reito narrowed his eyes as they turned a corner, the sun's light blinding him momentarily. Raising the hood of his dark blue robe, hiding his face from the light as well other's view. "Well Blade, is the port city everything you had hoped?" The diplomats knew that he always wanted to pass through Aneastor at least once.

"The air is nice and cool compared to Sobaya." He would be glad if the Ambassador knew of work that he could do here. Otherwise he would have to go towards Jowav to search for work. Going from somewhere as warm as his homelands, to a place barren and cold, it was just nonsense. But even if he did not like it, he would follow through if it meant helping even a year towards his debt. He stared at the back of the diplomat's heads wanting to bring more of a conversation.

Instead, he let out a deep sigh, popping his neck. Shoulders becoming stiff from the travel bag on his back. Inside of it was a few provisions, and his armor. Hanging from the strap was his katana, sheathed in the black leather. It was odd how he came about to get the Alias of Silver Striker, when he was more known for being clad in black. "Can we just hurry this along?" It was already beginning to annoy him. The lack of conversation was only making the long trip worse. The fact that they were so close to the destination was just nagging at him, pushing even the smallest buttons.

"Calm Silver Striker." One of the diplomats looked back to him as he spoke. "Our destination is just ahead. And it may be best for you to remain silent when we meet with the ambassador." Reito nodded, waiting for him to turn his head back to the front before scratching at his forehead. For the life of these two the destination better be just ahead.

It was not long before the group of three stopped before a building. The two diplomats started talking to the guard at the door, a few papers exchanged to prove identities. "Weapons stay with us." The guard focused his attention on Reito. Who, in turn began to refuse giving up his blade. The two diplomats looked to one another before going back to the guard.

"This man is a guardian, it would probably be best for him to be armed at all times. Besides, he only listens to those who out ranks him in society." One of the diplomats smirked, bringing confusion to the mans face. The guard slid himself into the building, closing the door to refuse entry of the three. "Well Blade, it seems your stubbornness to obey the man is getting us halted."

Reito took a slight bow, "I apologize. If you commanded me to discard of my weap-"

The diplomat chuckled, as if amused by how he acted when directly confronted by higher classes. "Don't worry about it Blade. We didn't even expect a guardian to travel with us on this trip. It is quite a rare occurrence for us to have company on travels. " Again Reito bowed, Matthew Marin was a good man, no matter what class level he was in.

The doors opened widely as the ambassador Gantoine appeared. "Ah! Come in come in, don't worry about the incompetent guards!" The comment also seemed to strike Reito, since in a sense he was a guard for hire. "I have been expecting you for a few days now. I was beginning to worry you had already come and gone without notice." His eyes passed over Reito, only way they even knew was because immediately afterwards he nodded slightly towards the armed man. "Seems like we have a little bit of company?"

"Ah, yes." Marin spoke out, "Before we get down to our business I should probably introduce you. This man with us is the Silver Striker. A guardian for hire by the merchant guilds of Sobaya. We were hoping to further our ties by selling off such hands to your country. " Marin smiled, looking towards Reito, signaling with his eyes to shake the mans hand or something. Of course, Reito obeyed, stepping forth to extend out his hand. "If you would, please accept this man's services."

Gantoine gave a half smile before shaking his hand. "I suppose I can spread a word or two and see if there is any need for a personal guardian. Even if I have to check with the Akademiyi." Reito twitched, thinking of working around all those songstresses, it would be like hanging around a school all over again. "Maybe we can even find you work here at the port city. I trust you both are staying in the city for a few days to refresh?" His attention turned back to the diplomats who responded with a nod. "Good, so the guardian can remain with you both until we find work."

The second diplomat turned to Reito, as Marin continued talking with Gantoine. "If you would Silver Striker, wait out in the main room and don't cause to much trouble. We have a bit of business before meeting back up with you." Reito smiled, somewhat glad to leave a bit of the formalities behind in this room. But then again, he would have another period of nothing but waiting for something to happen. Reluctantly, he nodded, turning to walk out of the meeting room.

((Seya))

After finally crossing the front door threshold, Seya realised she was quite lost in there. It was of course a place she had never been at. The Trianea Akademiyi was, therefore, a new place for her, so she didn't know how to get to anywhere. It was such a big place, too! Upon her arrival, she was supposed to meet the principal, but she was so lost she didn't know how she'd manage to get there.

The girl decided to just wander around, hoping her luck would help her find a way. It was not until she saw some people laughing at her, that she realised it was about the third time she had walked through the same place. However, Seya didn't seem to be bothered, and just kept searching. Eventually, she'd have to stumble upon the principal's office, right? In the end, and strangely enough, she ended up finding a bigger door which looked fancier. Smiling to herself, she wondered if that was, in truth, the place she was searching for.

Seya could be quite the stubborn girl, sometimes, which is why she refused to ask for directions. The young songstress knocked at the door, and upon not hearing any answer, she opened it, slowly. Inside the room, and sitting behind a table, a relatively old woman was looking at her. Surely, she was the principal. She was surprised about how, despite being thin, the woman seemed quite the strong lady. Her eyes showed such wisdom and a severe personality. But she didn't seem like a bad person.

Even more surprised, Seya was, when the woman called out her name. "Ah, don't give me that look, I am aware that you were arriving soon. What principal would I be, if I didn't know such a small matter... I hope your trip from Azure to our Akademiyi has been a nice one. I also hope that you will enjoy your time with us. We have arranged a room for you on the west wing of the building. You will have your schedule at your room. However, I can already inform you about the planning we have chosen for you. Seya Raghen, guest student from Azure." She spoke with such solemnity. "You will be taking regular classes, which include bravery and fear tactics. I do not doubt your knowledge, but we may have a different point of view from what you have learnt. And in diversity lays the truth. I am convinced our 'Bravery' and 'Psicology' teachers will be able to get you to learn a lot of new things. And do not forget to attend the Purity classes. They are really important, so do not miss them."

Seya sighed softly at the thought of having to attend "Purity" classes. Not only that was boring, but pointless, as well. She had also expected to be doing a lot more theory, but if life-based songs didn't have a lot of theory, it was possible for her to finish this course as soon as possible and leave for the third Akademiyi in her life. That would be certainly good, wouldn't it? Before leaving, Seya asked for the location of the west wing and her room, so that she would not get lost again.

The girl walked downstairs, to the hall once again, and then madeh er way to the west. After a short walk, she saw some corridors with doors on both sides of it, which meant this was the 'bedroom zone'. Seya looked for the door she had been told was her room, and used the key she had been given. After opening the door, she walked in, and even forgot to close the door, as she saw the beauty of the room.

It was certainly not a nobleman's room, but it was cozy enough. And apparently it had been prepared to suit her tastes. The bed sheets were blue, and the curtains on the window which was at the back of the room were white. Seya opened the window, and looked. She gasped, and a tear went down her cheek. It was almost like being at home; the room was faced to the sea, and even if they were at a high place, she could see the water. The room made her think of an Azurean room, no doubt about that.

It had a comfortable-looking bed, a small round table in the middle of the room, another table on one of the corners of the room -with some writing tools- and a big wardrobe at the opposite corner. She was happy -and relieved- to see a door which led to a little bathroom. She could not believe this place was so perfect. Her mood was so light that she began to sing, almost without realising it. It was an old popular song from her homeland, one which bore no powers.

β™«β™ͺ "What, little bird, have you seen during your trip."β™«β™ͺ
β™«β™ͺ "I wonder, oh I wonder, my little bird."β™«β™ͺ
β™«β™ͺ "I want to see everything."β™«β™ͺ
β™«β™ͺ "Tell me what you've seen, tell me what I will never see."β™«β™ͺ
β™«β™ͺ "Of course, I am just a human."β™«β™ͺ
β™«β™ͺ "Of course, I am just a human!"β™«β™ͺ
β™«β™ͺ "But I am, I am a tiny little girl."β™«β™ͺ
β™«β™ͺ "Take me with...you."β™«β™ͺ

(Reito)

Waiting for no longer than an hour, Marin walked into the room. "Seems like everything is calm. I trust you had no problems Blade?" However, Reito was not making any attempt to respond to the question. Instead his eyes continued down the hall, wondering where the second diplomat could have gone. Marin must have picked up on the small pondering of Reito since his answer came accordingly, " Jamis will be staying here with Gantoine for awhile longer. Only one diplomat is needed for the job after all."

As Marin began walking for the front door, Reito stood still. Confused whether he was supposed to stay and aid Jamis if need be. Though, with Marin walking for the front door, it would be dangerous to let him go alone. "Blade?" He heard his name called out by the diplomat. "As a guardian, won't you accompany me for a walk?" It seemed Reito's wonder had again been relieved by Marin. He moved forward to walk behind and to the right of the diplomat. "Jamis has many guards here in the Ambassador house. I don't think it would be a problem if you came along with me no?"

Upon exiting the building the guard at the door seemed somewhat relieved. It seemed an aura of intimidation to him came from Reito. " Diplomat Marin, how long will I be in this city?" He would not have mind being here for the remaining years of his debt. It was a nice place, with a sea close by.

"That would depend." Marin stated, scratching his chin as he walked along. "First, we need to find out if anyone around here will even hire you. Tension can be great when hiring a bodyguard from another place. Secondly, we need to know how long they would be willing to have you, and if the funding can even be made."

Funding, that was always a funny subject. There had been months Reito was protecting someone that did not pay the guild. It did not decrease his debt any, and in the long run someone had to come and terminate the contract made for the bodyguard. That's right, having a bodyguard was surely a luxury that only high class people could really afford. That, or someone of lower class being backed by someone of very high stature. "Ah, right.."

Upon extermination of the debt, he would be given two options. To continue the duties he is carrying out, without being backed by the guild. Or secondly, drop being a body guard all together, and work within the guild as a middle class in society. "Have you made a choice yet?" Marin, for a third time now had effectively seen the troubles laying within Reito's mind.

"I don't quite know yet. I am happy to protect others. But without the guild's reputation, probably no one would hire me. Almost seems like a trap laid out to force me to work for them." He paused, continuing to walk in line with the Diplomat. "It can be quite confusing if I couldn't find anyone to protect."

"I know what you need." Marin nodded, bringing Reito to question what it was. Marin had accurately read him for three times now, surely this would be a fourth. "A wife." Reito lowered his head, disappointed by the man's words.

"No, that is most certainly not what I need." He had seen many troubles that occurred with marriages within his years. Once, there was even a high class couple married. Not sleeping in the same bed, both even having their own affairs.

((Griselde))

"Thank you, that is all I needed to know". A serious-looking relatively tall woman, clad in dark brown travel clothes answered to the man she was talking to. Her hair was tied in a ponytail that reached her shoulders. She had relatively tanned skin color, and while she looked feminine, her face had a rather sharp shape. Her eyes were just as sharp, and dark. She had been journeying for a long time, and after having spent a day at Rolad'n, she finally made it to the portuary city of Aneastor. Her idea was getting a way to reach the land of Azure. Of course, such feat would have usually been deemed impossible by the always logical Griselde Astarnie, but she had dreamt of it. Ever since that strange dream, she had felt she had to go there.

Part of Griselde knew that the dream was probably caused by that conversation she overheard about some Azurean jewels, and she happened to dream about herself being on a ship, sailing to Azure. However, another part of her wondered whether she was doing the right thing or not. After all, what could a woman like her do in such a place? What would she do once she was there? The lone woman was the kind of person who always gets everything planned, so going to a new place without any plan on what to do whatsoever really did not seem like her.

Griselde was particularly surprised about the amount of people she saw and heard all over the place. Of course, this was such a big city, so it was normal, and she did not come from a small city, herself, but all that travelling meant she had grown used to calm places. She found the city a bit too stressing, in a way. The woman was careful with her sword being where it was supposed to be. If the sword got stolen, she would definitely go crazy. That sword meant everything, to her. Besides, nobody would be able to use it as well as herself...

As the swordswoman was lost in her thought, she suddenly remembered Aneastor was well-known for its' Akademiyi. Of course, those were scattered all across the land; and Trianea was one of the richest kingdoms, so they should have a really fancy place. After half an hour walking around the city, she made it to the docks. It was there, that Griselde learnt that the only way to get a passage for the ship she wanted to take was paying a really generous amount of money.

And so, sighing after she left the docks, Griselde realised she would have to take a job, in order to earn some money. But what could she do? Certainly, this place didn't seem like it needed a hunter. She considered going to the Akademiyi. So many people in one place, maybe there would be something for her.

And just as she was, again, lost in thought, she bumped into someone, and instintively took her right hand to her sword, but relaxed upon seeing the man she had bumped into -tall, white hair- had been talking to another -important looking- person. "I am sorry." She bowed, looking serious. "I was not paying attention." She then had an idea. After all, she did not know how to get to the Akademiyi. "Excuse me. I would hate to trouble you, but would you happen to know how can I get to the Akademiyi? I am new to this city and I have no idea..."

((Reito))

Marin laughed loudly and wholeheartedly. "Come on now, isn't marriage almost exactly lie guardian ship?" It was true, at least for a few couples around. A guardian was meant to stand by the side of their client and protect them no matter what. A swear of loyalty to that person entirely for the remainder of a contract. Modern marriages were not always happy and cheerful, nor even romantic. Some just used it to escape the higher taxes. Well, that is with a varied amount between the different cities. "

"So, how long are we staying here in Aneastor?" Reito questioned, wondering if he already mentioned this before. Though he knew some of it was determining on how quickly a request came for him.

Marin rubbed his chin, as if to think hardly on some matter. "Two weeks. I want vacation time." He smiled before laughing loudly. This man, Reito just increasingly got the feeling would be one never understood. "Besides you wanted to stay around here for awhile longer no? Three o'clock."

Reito raised a brow, at the last sentence which seemed to cut the air very quickly. Almost just as quickly, he felt a bump on his right side. Instinct, he reached to the left of his waste for his sword only to grab nothing. Of course it was on his back, probably for the better as well. "I am sorry." She even took a bow to be formal, something that put him on edge. He hated the formalities, even more so, using them himself. But unfortunately it was always needed. "I was not paying attention."

Marin chuckled softly, grabbing Reito's shoulder. "Excuse me. I would hate to trouble you, but would you happen to know how can I get to the Akademiyi? I am new to this city and I have no idea..." This, gave him even more of an outward chuckle. Marin indeed was a curious making man.

"Well young lady." Reito looked to the girl, wondering just how old she possibly was as Marin continued to speak. "Why don't you come with us? We were heading to the Akademiyi anyhow here within an hour. " Reito spun around to face Marin, knowing this was not in the original plans. Of course he had been here a time or two, but did that really mean he had to show girl's around the place?!

"Your kindness will ruin you one day diplomat." Reito spoke, eyeing backwards at the sword the girl had. He didn't want to mention any names, because names contained information that other's didn't need. Hell, even Assassins could strike just by name. Class however, was probably the most basic important thing to get through.

Marin raised an inquisitive eye before walking along. "And your harshness will end with you alone Silver Striker!" He hollered rather loudly compared to the distance he was making. "Oh and Reito, we might find you a job at the destination." So Marin used both his alias and his name.

Reito kept his right hand to his forehead as he began to walk after Marin. "Come or stay, that is your choice." He muttered to the girl. "It seems either way we are going to that damned Akademiyi."

((Griselde))

Griselde was slightly confused when she saw the older man chuckling softly at first, a bit louder after she had asked her question. Why was asking for directions such a funny event? Obviously she wouldn't know, and her face probably looked way more confused than it was good for her. However, she was pleased to see that the man was actually happy to help her. The young woman listened carefully as he explained they were actually going to the Akademiyi at some point within an hour.

It was so convenient. Too convenient, perhaps, especially seeing how the younger man spun around, facing the oldest of them. The way he had turned around, she would say he was making quite a surprised face she was not able to see. And if it was indeed surprised he had on his face, this meant they were not going there. Either that, or the young man was not informed about such thing. Upon more thinking, Griselde conceded that there could even be a third possibility; a change of plans.

Either way, the mercenary thought it would be stupid not to accept; she had her trusty sword with her, so she didn't have anything to fear. After all, she could defend herself. During that short time she had been thinking, she overheard the two men having a short conversation. She could tell they trusted each other, of course. And by listening she found out about some interesting facts. The oldest man was a diplomat; that should mean he probably did not lie to her about going to the Akademiyi; what a relief. As for his companion... it should be obvious he was his protector, a guard. He was experienced, too, as he did not address the diplomat by his name. She smiled faintly; the man knew what he was doing.

However, all the good work was wasted when the diplomat used both the youngest man's alias and name in a single breath. She opened her eyes wide; how could he be that careless? For all they knew, she could be an assassin, sent to kill him! Was he really that reckless, or he just trusted Reito so much? The name 'Reito' did not ring a bell. However, being someone well-versed in the art of the sword, she would have to be an ignorant, for her not to know who Silver Striker was.

"Well, nice to meet you, Silver Striker." She offered her hand to the young man. "Knowing your name and alias, it is only fair I tell you mine. The name's Griselde, and some people call me 'Gray Trail', although that name does not really mean anything to me, and it's not as famous as yours anyway."

Nothing forced Griselde to tell him her name, but at least she wanted to be fair. If something happened, she at least did not want to have any particular advantage. "And of course I am coming. That was my goal all along, so it is perfect if you were going there as well, because otherwise, I would not know how to reach that place.

As a woman of few words, she did not want to bother the pair with stupid and useless questions, so she decided to just walk with them without starting any particular conversation. This would allow her to be especially careful about their surroundings. That way, she also planned on listening to what they had to say. Information could always be useful, if one knew how to use it. Besides, that way she could always look around and learn where the various shops were in Aneastor, just in case she would need them. One thing, however, she wanted to say.

"If you have some business to attend, do not change your schedule for me. I am not in a rush, and I can wait however much it is needed, until you are finished with your things. So long as we end up going to the Akademiyi, I am completely satisfied, Ser Diplomat and Silver Striker." She was completely honest with this. After all, if she had secured this much of her future (the future of that day, at least), she was fine with it.

((Reito))

Reito laughed out when the women introduced herself. When she holds an advantage, to give away such information was quite a situation. Yet at the same time it was pretty honorable. "Famous?" His laughter died to a chuckle. "First time I heard that out of Sobaya. By how quickly my jobs end I was starting to think otherwise." Smiling lightly he took her hand for a shake. "It is nice to meet you Griselde. With a name such as Gray Tail I expect your in the guardian business? Or maybe even a mercenary?"

Thankfully, even if she was a mercenary him and Marin were in the safe zone. Since if she were hired to kill the diplomat, she definitely wouldn't just give out her name. She also wasn't turning down the offer after the fact either, which means if Morin properly reported in who was accompanying, if an incident did occur in which she was not found, a suspect would already be declared.

"Blade" Morin called back, only his left eye open by a narrow slit. "Are you coming or are you too busy with our female friend?" Reito would probably never be able to tell if this man was an annoying old owl, or an overly friendly diplomat.

"I am coming diplomat." He walked ahead of the girl, trying to keep as much of an eye as possible on her. Even with so many safety facts on their side, one could not be too careful. Marin however, kept glancing over at Reito waiting for a conversation to spark. Seeing as to how one was not going to occur, he decided to formulate his own topic.

He chuckled lightly thinking over his next words. "Keeping an eye on the girl hmm? She seems a little rough but at the same time it's her own trait of beauty." Marin grinned widely, noting that the glare turned to him.

Again, was this man kind or just annoying? "She might be a mercenary. It is best to watch her, but if you insist on being such a way, I can freely leave the both of you alone. I was not assigned to protect your life, only to accompany you." Marin's grin died down as his amusement of the situation was deteriorating.

When the girl spoke they both turned, staring at her until at end. "Oh, please my lady." Marin once again reverted to his chuckling state of friendliness. "We have nothing to do here, you see, our friend is taking care of the arrangements." Reito glanced towards him, thankfully he didn't mention that 'friend' was another diplomat. "If you want, we can even depart sooner. It is so trivial to do the paper work of reporting in." Reito's head sank. There went one of the few safety points they had. Now no one would know that they were with anyone.

"As a man of blade, I do not have the luxury of having my own business." He would not allow small excuses to leave the diplomat alone with the girl. If not for the diplomat's life, the Griselde's sanity. "I am free to depart."

((Griselde))

Griselde realised the wariness of the youngest of the two men. She could not blame him; for all he knew, she could be telling a lie about what her identity was, and he was supposed to protect the diplomat, so all precautions were welcome, she thought. She had been assigned some protection jobs, a few months before, and so she knew the way Silver Striker felt.

Grisekde answered Reito as he smiled at her. "Well, what's in a name?" She said, nonchalantly. "I guess I could be called a mercenary. I work for whoever pays me the money. Don't misunderstand me, though. I have my own principles, and I would not attack harmless women or children, you know." The woman remained silent for a short while, before realising her words could be misunderstood. She smiled faintly.

"Don't worry, Ser Diplomat, you are not my objective. I am not on a job, right now. As I said, I'm looking for something to do, to earn some money, so I will not attack either of you. I do not have a reason to do so." Griselde went quiet again. "And I never lie." Despite Griselde being careful with what was going on, everywhere, she felt at ease. The two men seemed to be good people, and that was all she needed. For the time being, at least.

Griselde hoped they could both see she did not bear ill intentions. She never had, and never would. She got the feeling they were not worried. At least the diplomat wasn't, as he revealed they had another friend taking care of things. Probably a diplomat, as no one else would be able to 'take care' of things. She could still be wrong, but that would be her initial assumption. "Worry not, Ser Diplomat, there is no need to depart sooner. I do not have any reason to rush your process. If you do not wish to do your job while I'm here, I will understand, though."

The diplomat and his guard led the way, going uphill through the city. Griselde remained silent, and she noticed that this caused an awkward silence. Apparently, the two men did not dare creating much conversation, probably fearing they could reveal important pieces of information. She was, after all, a stranger. As they became closer to the edge of the city, there was less people walking around the street, even if it was still quite crowded

And it was at that moment, when Griselde started to wonder. What kind of job did she expect to find at the Akademiyi? The only thing she would probably find was a job as some kind of guard of some aristocrat girl who would probably be quite disgusting, to begin with. But if that was the job she had to take, so be it,
