Introduction
These positions are still available for people to play.
NISHIKAWA, TAKUMI
- Nishikawa, Takumi
A twenty-two year old Japanese man. He is the second son and child of the extremely wealthy Nishikawa family and, while technically, he still lives at home on the family estate, he spends most of his time sleeping over at Rey's apartment, whether she wants him to or not (she's probably just too nice to tell him to go home). The entire Nishikawa clan (aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, etc) lives in the compound, and he claims that Rey's house affords him peace and quiet that he wouldn't get otherwise.
He was born in Chiyodaku, Tokyo, Japan, and has lived there his entire life. From preschool to college, he has attended Meiyou Academy (it is a chain school-- meaning it has branches for each level of schooling, in separate buildings), and he goes to college now to study film making and sound design. He has four siblings: two girls, two boys, one of whom is the eldest child. He gets decent grades, but doesn't seem terribly interested in school.
He started playing drums after his elder brother allowed him to listen to an X-Japan CD he'd just bought. Originally, Takumi wanted to play the piano and drums, like his hero, Yoshiki (drummer and pianist for X-Japan), but he didn't have the patience for piano. He tends to be kind and good-natured, always ready to laugh and do silly things to make others smile, although he's also a bit dense and not the greatest when it comes to taking hints. Or so he seems.
His favourite food is a katsu udon found only in one noodle shop in Tokyo, and a craving for this dish sent him stumbling across Rey's path. Doggedly, he pursued her until he finally got her to agree to join their band, Dysphoria.
Takumi, Aoi, and Yuya attended all their school years together. In junior high, they decided to start up a band with a couple of other friends (Shige, Jun, and Yuki); Takumi was on drums, Yuya and Jun were on guitar, Yuki played the bass, and Shige sang. Aoi was a support guitarist, whenever Jun couldn't make performances or practices. But eventually, Shige convinced Jun and Yuki that Takumi and the others were just holding them back, and they split away to form their own band. Takumi and Yuya have never forgiven them for this, and there is a deep rivalry between the two sides.

SATO, AOI
Aoi
Aoi
Aoi
Aoi
- Sato, Aoi
A twenty-three year old Japanese man. He is the youngest son of the three-child Sato family, a clan in Tokyo famous for having the majority of their members in high-ranking government positions. They also own several restaurants, and invest in numerous companies, foreign and domestic. He lives in a high-rise apartment of his own, and dabbles in real estate ventures during his free time. Smart as a whip, he always placed first in exams and tests during school, and attends college for business psychology.
He was born in Minatoku, Tokyo, Japan, and now resides in Shinjuku, Tokyo. He spent his school years in the company of Takumi, Yuya, Shige, Jun, and Yuki, and picked up guitar shortly after Takumi began playing the drums. He is considered a tsundere and a megane, though he doesn't always wear his glasses since he's gotten contacts.

MARUYAMA, YUZURU
- Maruyama, Yuzuru
A twenty-three year old Japanese man. He is the eldest son of the Maruyama family, though technically, he has been disowned by his father. Yuya rebelled against taking over the family business, choosing to make music his life instead, and in a fit of rage, his father kicked him out of the house during his last year of high school, when Yuya made it clear that he was not going to attend college, nor take the reins and learn the ins and outs of the Maruyama company. His mother, however, made sure that her little boy still received financial aid, and set him up in a plush apartment in one of the nicer sections of Tokyo.
He was born in Minatoku, Tokyo, Japan, but he has lived the last five years in Chiyodaku. He picked up the guitar when he was seven years old, though he had to do it in secret, as his father disapproved of musicians. He went to school with Takumi, Aoi, Shige, Jun, and Yuki, and took the eventual breaking-up of the band rather hard. Aoi has been his best friend since they were in preschool. His nickname in school was bonkura ('blockheaded') because he didn't care about his studies and usually got answers wrong when the teachers called upon him. He isn't stupid by any means, but he is thoroughly absorbed in his music.

SAWAMITSU, REYOKO - played by ShyFox
- Sawamitsu, Reyoko
A seventeen year old Japanese girl, Rey was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, to a middle class family. Her father was a lower-ranking salary man, and her mother was a housewife. Since she could speak, Rey has loved to sing, and she has quite the set of pipes; her father always encouraged her, signing her up for vocal and piano lessons, though they could barely afford such things. When she was seven years old, her father died in a car accident on his way to work, and her mother took her own life shortly afterward. Following the loss of both of her parents, Rey shut in on herself, speaking less and less to other kids, and she stopped singing entirely. She was shuffled around from relative to relative, until she ended up with her great aunt in Tokyo. Having chosen to spend the majority of her time alone, unless forced into the company of other children, Reyoko studied hard and received top marks in all of her classes. Unfortunately, her quiet, shy nature also encouraged the other girls to bully her unmercifully. After a particularly violent event involving a near drowning, she decided to change schools, and at the start of her sophomore year of high school, she tested into the prestigious Meiyou Academy with a full scholarship; Meiyou Academy is a system of private educational centers for the wealthiest of the wealthy families of Tokyo. At the beginning of her junior year, her great aunt died, leaving her a modest sum of money, and Reyoko chose to move into a small, single-person apartment. She got a part-time job in an old noodle shop, and works after school and on weekends to pay her way. Slowly, after having made a friend or two among the rich kids of Meiyou, Rey has started inching her way out of her shell; she's singing again, but only when there is no one around to hear her.
One evening, with winter break approaching, Rey was working alone in the kitchen of the noodle shop. The owner had stepped out to run some errands before the snowfall became too heavy, and the shop was deserted. A young man wandered in, looking for a bowl of his favourite udon, and found Rey singing her heart out into a wooden spoon, warbling along with the radio. Immediately, he pounced, offering her a position as the vocalist for his band. Rey declined, mortified that she'd been caught doing such a thing, but this young man didn't seem to know how to take 'no' for an answer. Every day, he showed up at her school, pestering her until she agreed to sit in on one of their practices.
There were three young men in the band, and when they started playing, Rey immediately lost herself in the music. Before she knew what she was doing, she had the microphone in her hand, mouth wide open, belting out the lyrics to the song they were covering. From then on, she's been the vocalist.
Now if they could just find a bassist, they could get started...

KANDA, NAOKI - played by Kanan
- Kanda, Naoki
An eighteen year old Japanese girl. She is the youngest child and only daughter of the prestigious and wealthy Kanda family. Originally from Kita-ku, Osaka, her father moved the clan to Chuo-ku, Tokyo, in his efforts to become not only a savvy businessman, but a leading politician in Japan. She has three older brothers, all of whom spent more time with her than her parents (her mother considered her bad luck for the longest time, since Kanan was "shi," the fourth child), and her father was too busy with his ventures and making money to give her more than a passing glance. As a result, Kanan has grown up very boyish; she identifies more with looking, dressing, speaking, and acting male than she does female. She even wears the boy type uniform for her school. Most everyone she meets immediately thinks she is a male, a fact that she never bothers to clear up for them.
When our story opens, Kanan has just transferred into Meiyou for her last year. She is put in Rey's class, and instantly becomes the "Prince of Meiyou Academy." But Kanan, while amused by the girls' efforts to win her favour and their continuous confessions of love to her, seems to have trouble making friends, thanks to her shyness and her "fish out of water" feelings. Rey stumbles across Kanan's solo bass practices in one of the unused music rooms of the school, and immediately begins trying to make friends with the transfer student, hoping to recruit her into Dysphoria and complete the band's lineup.
