Her sense of style is something some would consider an oddity, especially for her age. Jaiden can usually be seen darker colors, anything from sweaters, jackets, hoodies, and t-shirts, to sun dresses and things on the formal end of fashion. She'll gladly wear jeans, boots, and a t shirt for the night on the town, or sweat pants and sweaters on a cold night in her house. Whatever the occasion, she will always be seen with her 8mm gages that she has in both ears. She'll also be seen with an old locket made of copper hung around her neck, no one knows what's inside of the locket and she prefers to keep it that way as she always keeps it on a tight chain around her neck.

Despite her age, Ash is one for style, commonly dressing in things that tend to either be form-fitting or free-flowing that help make her seem less small. Her skin is of a soft, light brown tone while in direct sunlight it is somewhat pale, with dark brown eyes and a set of equally dark and curly hair sits atop her head which is usually covered by a hat or hood. She has been described as childish and dainty when meeting her for the first time as she is always seen moving or doing something that requires her to move, so some say she is rather unpredictable as they never know what she is going to do next. She is also described as being energetic and can usually be seen with a smile on her face that seems to be contagious for those that manage to see her smile.

Aside from clothing, she is covered in art, not exactly covered from head to toe, but she does have her fair share of tattoos, and for those that are lucky enough to see them, as she almost always wears long sleeves or jackets, they'll have seen the plethora that covers her body. On her back from shoulder to shoulder and that reaches down to the small of her back, she has what seems to bemetalic wings that seem to be molting while the majority are completely intact. On the right side of her torso, she has ancientrunes alongside her abdomen and no one seems to be able to understand what the mean exactly aside from her. She has elemental runes outlined and tattooed on her left bicep, it is one of her most noticeable tattoos if she is not wearing a long sleeves shirt or jacket. One of her last tattoos is three phases of the moon on her right forearm, that is her most prominent and noticeable tattoos, one that she has slight regret about getting. And lastly, her final tattoo is of a single black feather that ends in a flock of birds, which is tattooed on her right collarbone and is personally one of her favorites.

L I K E S
Nature, first and foremost she loves and adores nature. From animals and sounds of nature itself, something about it brings a sense of peace and calmness to her | Coffee, Ash has a sweet tooth and something about the sweet and bitter mix of coffee is somewhat of a guilty pleasure as she knows it isn't exactly good for her | Horror and scary movies, she loves the feeling of the rush that horror films give her, but they have to be the classics, as the modern-day ones seem too predictable and not scary to her, if anything she finds them funny | Music, it doesn't matter what kind it is, except for country and rap, Ash will always have music playing wherever she goes as it helps her concentrate | Piano, guitar, and violin, something about those instruments to her are one of the few things she found herself spending the most time with from an early age | Art, Jaiden has a massive love for all art pieces, something about getting a peek into someone else's mind through art has always fascinated her | Photography, she can always be seen with a camera in her hand no matter where she is | Video games, she has a healthy love for video games and would gladly stay at home playing with friends if they weren't feeling well or just wanted to be lazy | Sweets, as mentioned before she has a love for anything that is sweet and contains sugar, especially cookies and cakes. If you offer her food you'll be more than likely on her good side until you manage to piss her off enough | Lumos, Nox, and Melvin, she would do anything for them and if it wasn't for her pets she doesn't know what she would do, seeing as they're the only family she's had for years by now |

D I S L I K E S
Fire, contrary to popular belief she absolutely hates fire as even simply the smell or the heat it radiates causes panic and anxiety to find its way through her therefore she hates that is what she possesses as a witch | Sour Foods, something about the taste and consistency they have always gave her a stomachache afterwards | Silence, as it causes massive waves of anxiety to rush through her | Loud or sudden noises, as they can be unpredictable anything that goes off without warning scares her more than they do to others | Cars and vehicles, she hates anything to do with cars ever since she was a child and would gladly walk through the coldest weather to get to where she needs to be than get into a car | Hurting anyone else, the last thing she wants to do is hurt anyone else ever again so as often as she can she prefers to be by herself | Herself, as mentioned prior, she doesn't like the idea of possibly hurting anyone else, which in turn has caused her to have some self hate for having hurt the people she loved in the past | Most religions, as her kind has been tortured and killed for false accusations in the past hundreds of years |

P E R S O N A
Jaiden is a bit of an oddity, to say the least. Normally she is a shy, quiet, socially awkward recluse that is constantly home as she is self-employed as a graphic designer and freelance artist that is either too busy to go outside and see her few friends that she has, or she's simply not feeling it and would rather stay in her room and work, play video games, or read some light novels in her room by herself with some soft music in the background while drinking tea or coffee. But at the same time, she can be a happy and bubbly outgoing person who wants to go out on the town and go to bars and clubs with her friends, that once she gets drunk enough she is easily a flirt with her friends when normally she is rather awkward and reserved.

Much like the element that she possesses control over she is one that is easy to piss off and be angered easily and as some of her friends have referred to her as "hot-headed", the pun intended or not is all the same to her. She can be happy and laughing with friends one second and something can be said and she can easily be upset and storms off until she calms down enough to come back and go back to having a good time with her friends. When left alone with certain people she is seen as kind and caring, as well as a good listener and shoulder to cry on from time to time, always happy to lend a listening ear from those she holds close. But even then for those, she holds close, she holds them at an arms reach and then some, never wanting to get too close to someone in case she hurts someone else again, and if she were to she could never forgive herself. Which is another reason why she feels like the odd one out in her friend group, a small voice at the back of her mind constantly telling her that they don't actually like her but find her more of a burden and sometimes even a freak, which causes her to stay at home and only really go out when her friends reach out to her first, otherwise she could continue living in her home by herself and her pets for the rest of her life.

Meanwhile, deep down she is a lost, damaged, confused, scared girl that just really needs a guiding hand to help her overcome her struggles and past traumas, as well as help overcome her self hatred and learn to let go of the past and move on. But until that day comes, if it ever does, she remains the same old Jaiden, the scared and lonely, emotionally vulnerable person that simply needs someone to be there for her and help her move passed all the bad things and learn to live life to the fullest and accept herself for who, and what she is.

Much like the rest of the Witch race, Jaiden was born with supernatural gifts and abilities that one would usually love to have and use to its greatest potential. But unlike most Witches, Jaiden despises what she was born with and wishes nothing more than to get rid of what she was what she considered cursed with. As she was born with the ability to control, create, manipulate and bend fire to her every whim. But as everyone knows fire is an incredibly unpredictable and devastating element. And as such, it is highly intuned with her emotions, specifically anger and frustrations, making her the last person that one would want to piss off as it would usually end with something, or someone catching or combusting into flames. Ash was also born with the negative of being a Witch, she is incredibly weak if exposed to silver usually resulting in a burn or rash, and on extreme exposure large lesions and red patches forming on her skin which can usually cause infections if not treated which results in fevers and having to stay in bed which is usually why she is susceptible to being sick.

| Juliet Price | Mother | 42 | Witch | Deceased |
Jaiden and her mother had been close at best and distant at worst of times, which happened to be more often than not as Jaiden was the "Black Sheep" in her family. As their relationship had been estranged and distant for years, while her passing was hard for Jaiden at first, she was able to move on from it rather easily as time had passed.

| Nathaniel Price | Father | 43 | Human | Deceased |
Jaiden and her father were much more close than her and her mother, which had caused even more of a distance in the family. Her father was the main reason why she had such a love for music growing up as he had been a well-known musician and photographer in the past in their small hometown and had made sure that both his daughters had played at least one instrument when they grew up, which caused their bond to be stronger than it otherwise would have. When he died she was broken and had taken months to almost a year to fully get over his passing, but even still then she still has hard times thinking about him and the fact that he is gone.

| Ellen "Ellie" Price | Sister | Last seen age: 25 | Human | Unknown |
Growing up the sisters had been close beside the sight age gap. They did everything together and were always with each other until they got older and grew up, but their love for video games and art and things like D&D and anything that was relatively nerdy had kept their bond close. But after the accident, their relationship was never the same after Ellen had been rushed to the hospital and refused to see her sister after that tragic event that left them parentless. All Jaiden wants is for her and her sister to reconnect and be back on good terms, but she doesn't know where her only remaining relative is and the thought of never seeing her again scares her more than anything.

H I S T O R I A
Jaiden grew up in a normal childhood, or as normal as one would be able to consider as she was raised by a mother who was a Witch, and a father who was a human. Life was good for her and her older sister, they lived as much of a privileged life as their parents could let them as they were both hard-working people and made a name for themselves as their mother was a Housing Agent and their father was a well-known photographer. They lived their lives day to day and as close as they could until Jaiden turned twelve, the day her powers were finally awakened would turn things on their head. Their mother never told Nathaniel that she wasn't human and when Jaiden started showing signs of taking after her mother, it only raised red flags. It started out small, her temperature started rising and she would constantly be warm even if she was outside when the weather was -10*. Things grew worse when things would randomly start to catch on fire or combust with no apparent reason at all, seemingly without a known cause.

It was only when it was made known that it was Jaiden causing things to catch fire or explode that things really started heading south. With her not understand what it meant and with her parents began to argue back and forth as he felt betrayed and lied to that their mother never told them the truth that Jaiden became a recluse. She turned to music and photography more than she ever did before, finding few comforts in the little things. Her relationship with her sister had actually grown with the awakening of her powers, as Ellen had found it amazing and interesting that she could create fire out of what seemed to be thin air. Things seemed to be getting better as her parents argued less, they didn't stress as much as Jaiden reassurance in her parents acceptance of what she was as her mother helped teach her how to help control and put away her abilities and hide them as well as she could.

It was when she turned eight-teen years old that things took a complete nosedive and would change her life forever. She came home from school to find her parents arguing again. Her father and mother were yelling and screaming at one another, her father yelling and screaming how he couldn't take having such a freak as a daughter, nevermind as a wife and that he wanted Jaiden and her out by that evening. Jaiden pleaded with him to listen to her and that she promised she'd never hurt anyone and that she'd never use her powers again to just make him happy. But he simply stated that he wished she wasn't his daughter and that he wanted them out. She was devastated and as she tried to hold her conflicting emotions together, a small spark caught on and spread through the house, faster and faster as her emotions slowly unraveled until the entire house had caught on. Nothing else but a blaze of fire and smoke overtook the house all too quickly as Jaiden had managed to leave the house as Ellen chased after her before the house exploded with their parents still inside the inferno. After the police and fire team made it to the scene it was entirely too late, there was no way inside and if they even did try it was useless, there was no way that not even someone as powerful as her mother would have been able to escape the blaze. It was ruled out as an accidental fire, which left the girls homeless, orphaned, and slightly injured from the explosion. Jaiden had received minor cuts and scrapes, and a fractured arm, while Ellen had received far more severe injuries which had her rushed to the hospital.

A few days had passed after the accident when Ellen had told her that she never wanted to see her again and that she should just leave. She wasn't angry or mad, but she was simply scared and didn't want anything to happen to Jaiden if the humans were to figure out what had actually happened, that it was an accident, but it didn't start like they made it seem. It tore Jaiden to pieces to leave her sister and her hometown, but she knew it was for the best and with whispers of a town filled with people like her in British Columbia, Jaiden made her way to Graythorne where she currently resides today. She lives in a small house by herself and her animals, having been able to move on from her parents' deaths and having left her sister behind to start a new, she was able to make a name for herself as a graphic designer and freelance artist and photographer. For the past few years she has been slowly rebuilding her life and trying to forget the tragedies that she had caused, but with whispers and neverending anxiety, she feels as though something is off and that something is coming, she just can't tell what..

plans had been in motion for months now. it had been discussed, time and time again, but it was only here, now, that anything was finally starting to happen about it. their scouts had finally found the town. stray, random scouts had found it over the years, but multiple scouts had found it. which finally meant that they could start moving. it was just a matter of time. greythorne had been found. greythorne would fall, and every monster that walked it's streets would be destroyed. it was just a matter of time. its residents didn't know it yet. but day by day, hour by hour, the hunters came ever closer.

There was a rare few hours of peace in Greythorne. As the sun peaked above the trees, still only starting to rise, and those who would rather avoid the sun slunk back indoors. The town was quiet for a few hours as people began to rise and began their day. At times like this, it was easy to forget the danger that awaited them. It was even easier for those who either didn't know or who didn't want to know.

Peace was something that Phoenix Woods hadn't known for a long time. It seemed that there was always something turbulent in his life, keeping his thoughts a constant wave of emotion. For months, his life had been the same thing. Every waking hour was spent working on the cafΓ©, making sure that he was too busy to think, too busy to hurt. More than once, he'd ended up painting or building or crafting recipes at 3AM when that awful, crushing loneliness kept him awake. Even when he'd opened for business, there had always been something to do. He'd questioned so many times if this had been the right decision. But he'd had to do something, he'd had to walk away.

His parents had rang him that morning to wish him luck. The conversation had gone about as well as he'd expected, which was to say they avoided the question of when they'd be coming back to Greythorne to see him and the cafΓ©, had told him how exhausted he had looked, and had boasted about how truly wonderful the French riviera was. He still had never quite forgiven them for just walking out. They'd had a bitter argument, one their relationship had never quite healed from. They made Phoenix feel as though it had been his fault they'd been "trapped" in that small town for so long. They told him on a Friday and were gone by Monday.

Phoenix sighed and leaned against the frame of the French doors, closing his eyes to soak in the sunlight for a brief moment. Today was the launch of the cafΓ©. Despite the fact that it had been open for six weeks already, things hadn't been finished, and he'd literally only just gotten enough money together to fund the party. It was no wonder he looked exhausted. He didn't think he'd slept more than five hours any night in the last six months. Even last night, he'd had to wake up at 4AM to start baking for the day. He couldn't remember what it was like to feel peaceful. Or even to have energy.

But he didn't have time to dwell on it. He sighed, pulled on his leather jacket, closed the doors behind him, and made the short walk to the cafΓ©. The smell of fresh paint was masked with the smell of fresh herbs and flowers, making him feel just a little more relaxed. Some of the staff were inside already, getting set up, and he just smiled and nodded at them, taking the first tray out of the oven. And the day began.

The sun had all but risen by the time most people in Greythorne had started to awaken, or as some had retreated to the confines of their homes, away from the sunlight. But for some, they had been awake for hours as the morning sun crest the treeline. It was this case for Jaiden, as she had already been awake busily taking care of her house, making sure everything was squared away. Not that she had slept much, or needed much sleep to function, as cafien was one of the things she relied heavily on to function, or even make it halfway through the day. Currently, she was cleaning up her room as Lumos and Nox had been messing around in her room earlier, and knocked something over. The cats made a high tail dart out of the room, the small main Koon which was Nox quickly followed behind the three-year-old, Lumos, as Jaiden stepped over them, "Lumos, I swear to god you're going to get in time out if you don't stop!" she yelled at the white cat as she heard them running around the house. A small chuckle creased her lips as she couldn't really be mad at her two cats, they were the two closest things she had to family and she would do anything for them in a heartbeat. After cleaning up the mess of knocked over books, she huffed as she left her room, making her way into the kitchen as she decided to try to find some sort of food to get for breakfast before she headed out. As she made her way to the fridge she felt something touch her foot, but just barely as it was a light, somewhat prickly feeling. A small grin formed on her face as she looked down, scooping up what had touched her foot, "Goodmorning, Melvin." she said with a smile as she gently pet his quils, resulting in a small chirp from the small creature, and she gently placed him down on the floor, but not before giving him one of his favorite treats, which was a slice of an apple.

She smiled as she watched the small hedgehog slowly bumble away as it carried the piece of fruit in his mouth, dragging it away. Jaiden sighed as she looked at her fridge, almost nothing, she'd need to go out and get more food as she was running low. But that would require her to leave the house, but as she thought about it, it wouldn't be that big of a deal as she could stop by the new coffee place as it was opening day, as well as being able to support one of her good friends, Pheonix Woods. He had been nice to her the moment they first met and had easily gotten along with their outgoing personalities, and with him always being the one to drag her out of the house, it was always nice to go and see him, and since it was the big day for his shop, she thought it was the least she could do for him.

With that set, she said goodbye to her fur-babies and walked out the door, but not before locking it behind her as she left. The weather was nice out today, not too cold and not too warm, perfect in her opinion really. From where she lived to where the main part of town would take about fifteen minutes of walking, as her natural aversion to cars made her get rather fit all too quickly as she refused to ever get into a car. She never had any traumatic event with them, she just never liked them as she thought it would be safer to walk instead of driving one of those "death machines", as well as it being all too expensive to get one, nevermind having to pay for the upkeep. Fifteen minutes seemed to pass by all too quickly as she made her way into town, and saw that the store had practically just opened when she got there, perfect. She was all too excited to see what Pheonix had done with the place and she was but all too happy to show him her support. The door opened with a small chime of a bell that hung right on top of the door, alerting the staff whenever someone would enter.

Jaiden smiled as she walked up to the counter, her wallet close by as it was in her jacket's pocket. She took in a deep breath as the smells overwhelmed her, but in the best way possible. Everything smelled amazing, from the food they made to the scent of fresh coffee. And since Pheonix was known to meddle with his magic when it came to cooking, she expected the same for his store. She smiled when she saw him, a large toothy grin on her face as she smiled, she could tell he was all too nervous and she didn't blame him. "So, Nix. How're you feeling? Excited? Nervous? All I know is that I'm excited for you and will be here for you every step of the way." she said with a smile as she took a seat at one of the chairs at the counter, all the while giving her friend a large smile.

Alex Garcia

There was nothing. Nothing but Alex, and a sense of dread. A smell. Metallic... Pennies? Blood. He spun, but could see nothing, nothing but darkness, not even his hand. It was quiet, he could practically hear his heart beating. Something else. The wind? Whispering? Crying? Who was crying? He touched his face. Is it me? Lightning flashed, and he saw a glimpse of a cross, taller than him. Taller than anything. Then nothing but dread. Dread. Dread. Dread. Dread. Dread. Dread. Dead.

Alex's eyes shot open, and he felt the cold sweat coating his face and chest, soaking his shirt and giving him a chill. He groped in the dark to find his glasses, so he could read the clock. 3 AM. Wonderful. He laid back into bed, willing the dream from his mind. He tossed and turned for a while, and eventually fell back into a deep, dreamless sleep. His alarm went off at 6, just like every morning, and just like every other morning, he started his day. He donned his glasses, pulled on his running shorts and changed his shirt before slogging down the stairs, yawns punctuating his movements. He went straight for the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of water and quickly finishing it, then pouring another to sip on as he made- and ate- his breakfast. After breakfast, it was back upstairs to brush his teeth, put in his contacts, and put on his running shoes. He took his time, there was no use in rushing. Before he left the house, Alex packed his fanny pack with the various things he foresaw needing; keys, cash, protection talismans, pocket knife, chalk, gum, eyeliner pencil, his phone, and a pen. One can never be too prepared.

Alex and his grandmother didn't live far from town, the walk only took a few minutes. The route of Alex's morning runs was less direct, and typically took him about 30-45 minutes to complete, depending on his pace and the weather. He loved mornings, while the world was still shaking itself from sleep. It was peaceful, and gave him time to collect his thoughts. He took a few minutes to stretch, and was on his way. Alex didn't listen to music while he ran, he liked to be able to hear if someone was approaching. He also liked the sounds of nature, and being up before most people were off to work made that easier. He didn't typically encounter too many people on his runs, not that he would stop and chat if he did, but a smile and a quick wave were a typical greeting.

Today's run wasn't record-breaking by any means, it was nice and easy, but it was a good run. Alex stopped in front of Phoenix's cafe, though he'd already been several times, today was a launch party of sorts and Alex wanted to support his friend.

He entered the building, and walked to the counter, digging through his pack as he waited for Phoenix to have a spare moment, he didn't want to interrupt. When Phoenix had a moment, Alex smiled, almost as if to assure his friend, "You did it. Abuela's really proud of you, by the way. I think she's planning on stopping by later today." He paused for a moment, "Also, I have something for you. Don't make a big deal out of it, it's nothing big." He held out a small adder stone, tied to a length of suspiciously red cord, "To help keep negative energies at bay."

He turned to Jaiden, wishing for a moment that he looked a bit more put-together, but still offered the most charming smile he could muster, and said, "Good morning." It was more so he didn't feel like he was ignoring her, but he continued, "You look good," he paused, quickly looking at her more closely, "cool jacket." He winked, more lighthearted than anything, and took a seat of his own.

ImageAurora was always up just before the sun rose in Greythorne, she often thought of it as when the sun awoke - she awoke. Still that didn't made her bed any less comfortable this morning as she allowed herself a little extra to relax under the covers in her bedroom. Aurora was thankful enough to live in a tiny loft right above her shop. Her routine had been the same for a few months now and to most the familiarity would be comforting but to her it was boring. Wake up, ten minutes of yoga, smoothie time (arguably her favorite), feed Pip and Pym her scarlet and blue macaws, get ready and then open shop. However, she wouldn't give it up for anything. Aurora loved her life in Greythorne. The quirky, yet charming town had picked up her broken pieces and put her back together again. For once since her family's death she had felt whole again. Mainly due to her adoptive family who lived just a few blocks away from her, but running her flower shop had also given her a purpose.

Thankfully this morning she had something to look forward to. Phoenix, one of the witches in town, was opening his brand new cafΓ© and as a fellow business owner and friend she wouldn't miss it for the world. Not to mention he had kindly brought by some pastries and sweets for her to try and she was in love. Aurora had spent the whole week preparing a beautiful arrangement of succulents and flowers for his cafΓ© as a 'housewarming' gift.

She loaded the arrangements on to on of her carts, she'd be lying if she told herself she didn't go a tad bit overboard but it was Aurora we were talking about. The shop was only a few blocks down so after loading up all the flowers she made sure to change out of her ridiculous daisy pajamas into something more casual and cute. Aurora got a few odd looks as she pushed the floral cart down the sidewalk - the cart was practically bigger than herself - but she didn't mind, the fae was practically immune to odd looks or remarks.

Aurora was all smiles as she finally made it to the quaint cafe, using her back to open the door pulling the cart inside. It was a beautiful and cozy establishment and a small part of her swelled with pride, he had done such a wonderful job. Not to mention the smell, it would attract fairies for miles. She was happy to see Jaiden and Alex were already there, flashing a small wave and smile in Jaiden's direction, and made her way over to where Phoenix was. The two weren't best friends by any means, but anyone that practically lived in Greythorne was a friend to Aurora. She knew her sporadic fae nature was a turn off for most, but it simply made her - well her. "Phoenix it looks amazing! And oh my I could smell the tarts from down the block" She giggled slightly tucking a dark strand of hair behind her ear. "I hope you don't mind but I brought in some flowers to help. If- if it's too much I totally understand. I definitely went a little overboard with the petunias..." Aurora gestured to the cart near the door filled to the brim with dainty pastel flowers and modern succulents. She turned slightly to Alex, and couldn't help the smile that lit up her face. "That reminds me, I have that order of Gardenias ready that your Abuela called about a few days ago".

Phoenix had just reappeared behind the counter to fill one of the displays when Jaiden walked in. Phoenix grinned a little bashfully as he saw the huge grin on her face. They'd been friends for as long as Phoenix could remember, and it felt like their friendship had never really changed, despite everything they'd gone through. If anything, they'd become closer. "Between you and me? I'm so exhausted I've forgotten what most other emotions feel like," he said with a laugh. "No, I'm... excited. I needed a fresh start," he admitted, continuing to fill up the stand. "My parents are very supportive, by which I mean they actually admitted that they'll try and arrange a visit. At some point. If they can, you know, squeeze me in." He said with an eye roll as he leaned on the counter. Somebody appeared then to order a takeaway coffee, and Phoenix straightened up as he started to prepare it. He handed it to the gentleman with a grin and a free cookie.

He caught Alex's eye and grinned, making his way over to him. He blushed a little as Alex complimented his work and said that his abuela was proud and that she'd be in later. The protection talisman stunned him for a moment. "Thank you, Alex. Hopefully we won't need it," he said, tying it above the coffee machine. The arrival of a ginormous cart of flowers, and its wielder, made Alex's grin widen.

"Aurora! Oh my god, these are amazing! I love them!" The slightly overboard floral displays mightn't have quite fitted in with the vaguely understated style Phoenix had gone for, but he didn't care. Plants always had a place in his home, in his heart. "Thank you so much!"

"So, come on, what can I get you guys? It's all good, I promise. And you'd better agree with me because I was up at 4AM prepping the dough for those croissants," he laughed.

Jaiden smiled when Phoenix finally had the time to talk to her as he was clearly busy, she couldn't help but grin slightly as he admitted while he was excited, he was also nervous and incredibly tired. That was evident from the slight bags under his eyes and slight differences in how he acted, subtle things she was able to pick up about him. She was worried about him, but she knew he was able to take care of himself and if he needed anything he would ask. "Well, look at it this way. You're finally living your dream and being able to do what you've wanted for years, and I couldn't be any happier for you, Nix. Just don't overwork yourself and take your time. You're the boss man here, and even you need a break every now and then." she said with a reassuring smile, even though she wasn't one to talk as she barely slept and was always busy with her own things, especially being someone that worked from home and most people. But that wasn't the time for that, she was here for him and that's all that mattered.

Her attention was taken away from Phoenix as someone else sat down next to her at the counter, it was another resident that she knew somewhat, wouldn't say they were the best of friends, but they were nice enough to each other, all considering they were both Witches, as was Phoenix, which was something that was kind of a bond for the three of them. She smiled and gave him a small smile as he said good morning, "Mornin', Alex." she said with as friendly as a tone as she could muster.

A small chuckle came from her when he complimented how she looked, and that he liked her jacket, giving a small flirtatious smile and wink after he spoke. "Heh, thanks, Alex. And I like your uhm....Fanny pack." she tried to hold back a chuckle after she said that, but it was all too funny of a thing for her to take seriously, and she hoped Alex wouldn't have gotten offended by the small joke she made. All but too quickly her attention was taken aback by a small chime from the door as someone else entered the cafe, as she turned her head a large smile overcame her as she waved at the person that entered. It was one of the few people that she considered a very good friend aside from Phoenix. They had their differences, but with how nice and welcoming Aurora always was, it was always pleasant to see her, especially since most if not all of the plants Jaiden had in her house came from her shop. "Morning, Rory!" she happily exclaimed as she gave the fae a large smile and wave, looking back at the others as they all talked about the grand opening of his shop, and how she brought all the flowers for the store and that she too had an order in for Alex's grandmother.

She smiled as all of her friends were here, looking back as Phoenix asked what they'd be having and that he was sure they were going to love everything his store had to offer. "Surprise me, Nix. I know you won't disappoint." she said with a toothy grin and small chuckle as she gave him a bit of a teasing tone.

The morning sun had all but come up and cast its glow over Greythrone, meaning most were getting up as others were retreating to their homes. And much couldn't have been truer for one of the individuals in the outer forest of the small town.
The past night had been an all but overly stressful night for one named Markus as he had one of his transformations again, being nothing but a slave to the moon, which would be his master until the time he died, which would result in his freedom of what he considered a curse. Or, if there was a cure, which he heard whispers about, but he doubted they were true.

He was now making his way back to his small house that was tucked far away from the town, away from most people, and most of the drama that followed it. It was also a way of him making sure everyone was safe and far away from his uncontrollable anger and violence whenever the moon would be at its fullest, and most controlling form. He had just finished feeding on the corpse of a very large, and well-maintained buck that had gotten jumped out of nowhere, and had been giving the most merciful death he could give the creature, simply snapping its neck between his strong jaw when he was in his wolf form. He had small crevices where he would put extra clothing after a transformation where he had a certain area for where he would hunt as a wolf, while he was in the mindset of a beast, he wasn't fully deranged, but under relative control. He had gotten dressed into one of his most preferred styles of outfits and slowly walked back to his home, but stopped as the thick hairs on the back of his neck bristled, something didn't feel right, as if he wasn't entirely alone in these woods.

Markus remained still as he listened for any movement or scents he didn't recognize, it was when he picked up the scent of three others that his attention was grabbed. Snapping his neck to the north of him he began to move more slowly, and carefully as he proceeded to follow the smell he picked up. Shortly thereafter he found an unconscious man lying in a clearing, with no one else around. At least that's how it appeared to any mortal being. He still was able to pick up the feeling of someone else being there, a somewhat familiar presence. He stepped closer to the body that lay on the ground, it was a hunter for sure, as they had the mark on their neck covered by their shirt collar. He growled to himself as he knew it was true, people were coming, and they weren't bringing anything good with them.

Slowly Markus rose back to his feet as his back was turned, he craned his neck to the side as he took in the scent one more time, making sure he was entirely sure of who it was. He had only seen her a few times, but her scent was recognizable. It was the smell of a vampire, one he had a few encounters with, but not many as she was new to the town. He kept his back towards her as he spoke, "You can come out you know, no one's going to hurt you, Evelyn. At least I won't. Maybe the sun will though, you need to be more careful." he said with a calm, and deep voice. It was true, he wasn't going to hurt her, he had no reason to unless she proved herself as a threat, but with the sign of two hunters now in their woods, in search of the small town, he began to worry. With the smell of burnt flesh, he could tell she was in one way or another injured from the encounter, most likely being exposed to the sunlight that came through the trees. He removed his jacket and extended it out to her hiding place, if she wanted to stay out of the sun she'd need to be under more layers until she got home.

Alex shrugged at Phoenix's words of thanks, hoping he wouldn't need the stone. Alex was sure he did, he just had a feeling that something was very wrong, or would be soon. He had to do anything he could to keep the people in his life safe. But then, she did it. Jaiden pointed out the fanny pack. Dammit, he should've worn something different. Maybe skipped his run this morning. That would've thrown off his whole day. Calm down, Alex, it's not that big of a deal. Should he say something? Shrug it off? I'm overthinking this. He chuckled, though it came out sounding more than a little fake, "It's a look." He shrugged, and flashed a charming smile at her, "No pockets."

Alex heard the door open, and didn't think a thing of it, but Aurora's voice was all too familiar. Suddenly, Alex found himself really wishing he looked more put-together. Still, he listened attentively when she addressed him, the hint of a smile playing on his lips. He honestly knew nothing about the flowers, nor did he particularly care, but he nodded like that was the most interesting piece of news he'd received in weeks. "Thank you," he said, a bright smile lighting his face, "She'll be happy to hear that, I'll let her know." He shrugged, "Normally I'd say that I'd stop by myself and bring them home for her, but I don't know I'll be able to do that, today."

Alex looked back to Phoenix, who wanted his order. He thought for a minute, and shrugged, he didn't want anything heavy, he wasn't particularly hungry. Normally, he'd just go for coffee, but this was Phoenix's big day, "How about you let me be the judge of that croissant dough?" He shot a quick wink Phoenix's way, "And some coffee?"

Image"Really? Oh, I'm so glad!" Aurora placed a hand over her chest, a large grin on her face. "Of course. I also may or may not have enchanted them just a teeny tiny bit. Just so you wouldn't have to water them the first few weeks. I figured you'd have your hands full already". She then dropped her voice low in a serious manner but couldn't help the curve of a smile on her lips, "If it starts getting 'Little Shop of Horrors' in here call me".

Aurora nodded at Alex's response, bouncing slightly on her heels. "That's alright. I could always just drop them by later on this week, it's no rush". Her attention was then stolen again by Jaiden's warm welcome.

She turned to the witch all smiles, walking over to the table where she sat. "Hey stranger. How are the cats? Oh and of course I cannot forget about Melvin." She adored that darn little hedgehog. Whenever Jaiden ordered flowers Aurora made it her mission to hand deliver them each time. It was mainly an excuse to see Jaiden's adorable fur family. "Let me know if those Hellebore's ever need some revamping" She giggled wiggling her fingers to suggest that somehow the fae had some sort of pixie dust up her sleeve. Jaiden's Hellebores were the first flowers Aurora had ever grew that were black. It was definitely a switch from her normal pink and rosy palette but she enjoyed the challenge. Not to mention they turned out beautifully.

Aurora turned her head as Phoenix spoke of getting them something to eat, not realizing how hungry she actually was. Rory had been so busy making sure she had everything ready to go for Phoenix that she skipped her usual green tea with yoga. She grinned at Phoenix, "Anything strawberry and you know you'll have my vote".

Phoenix nodded and grinned as Jaiden requested a surprise, already forming an order for her in his mind. Alex asked for a croissant, and Aurora said anything strawberry. "Alright, coming right up." Despite how early it was, there seemed to be a steady trickle of people in already. Spotting that one of the trays of samples he had dotted around the cafe was a little bit low, he grabbed some cookies and headed down to refill it. As he did so, he overheard a conversation, one that made him frown a little. Apparently people had been spotting hunters around the town. Or, at least, strangers that were either hunters or looked scarily similar to them. But because they hadn't been witnessed actually attacking anyone yet, the townspeople couldn't turn on them. Not until they had proof.

Phoenix went back up to the counter and finished his order, turning around and presenting them. "So, salted caramel latte and a jelly bean cookie for Jaiden, americano and almond croissant for Alex, and a strawberry green tea and a strawberry muffin for Aurora," he said. He scanned the cafΓ©, half making sure that there was nobody looking for his attention and half making sure that there wasn't anybody who could possibly be a hunter. But it was a sea of half-familiar faces, people who he recognised if only in passing.

"Did you guys hear about all these mysterious strangers apparently appearing around the town? Most people think they're hunters. I'm just wondering if the promise of my amazing jelly bean cookies finally lured the humans to town," he joked. There had been talk of hunters coming to Greythorne for as long as Phoenix could remember. Sometimes, there genuinely was a threat. Other times, someone had just gotten really lost and had decided to stay around for a while. He didn't know if he believed they were hunters or not. Frankly, he preferred the ignorant bliss of hoping they weren't.

Jaiden smirked and chuckled as what she said certainly caused some of fluster and annoyance in Alex. As his body posture and how he acted drastically changed. She shook her head as she spoke, "I'm only joking, Alex. Calm down, man." she chuckled as she turned her attention to Aurora she walked over to her, asking how he fur-babies were doing, "Hey, Rory! They're doing good actually. You should stop by sometime as I know they'd love to see you, especially Melvin. They miss you." she said with a smile and chuckle as she thought about the last time that Aurora was at her house, and how she absolutely fell in love with her pets, especially the hedgehog.

"Oh, and those flowers turned out amazing! I'm excited with how well they turned out, so thank you for those. And you bet I will, but I doubt they will, your flowers never disappoint. They haven't yet so, I look forward to future orders, I have some plans in mind for getting some more in fact." she said with a smile, finally turning her attention to Phoenix as he finally came back with the drinks and food everyone had ordered.

A large smile spread across her face as she heard him announce what he brought for her, she could already tell she'd be a regular with how everything smelled and looked. "My man, Phoenix! This looks amazing, thank you so much!" she said excitedly. Happily taking the cookie and coffee from his hands, she took in the smells, "I'm definitely coming here from now on. Way to go big guy." she said with a smile after taking a sip of her drink, the smell and taste were to die for and she knew she'd be fully dependant on his shop for now. She raised her eyebrow at the mention of the Hunters. She hadn't really thought about it, considering she usually was in her house aside from when she would walk to the town for food and other things.

"I mean, I'm not entirely sure what to think, if I'm being honest. I've only heard some things, but not much. If it's true, I think we'll be fine, we have people here that can take care of it, right? I mean, they can't be that bad...Right?" she said with a small tint of anxiety and uncertainty as she wasn't entirely sure what to think. Would it make going back and staying at her house unsafe if it was true? She did live in the middle of the woods, far away from people, and if anything happened she could be in big trouble. But if it came down to it, she could protect herself, either with or without using her powers. Or so she thought anyway, she wasn't that big of a fan of having to hurt anyone, especially with what she was cursed with, but if she had to, she'd use her magic, even if she didn't like it.

Alex smiled as Jaiden assured him she was joking; he knew that, he did. He just let his anxiety and overwhelming need for people to like him get the best of him, yet again. He shook his head when Aurora mentioned making the delivery to the house later in the week, "She's planning on coming into town later today, anyway. Stop by and support Phoenix, you know. I don't know what time, though." He shrugged, "If she takes too long, I'll tag along. You know we love visiting you at your shop."

He smiled, turning to the food Phoenix brought. His face fell blank as he tried a bite, and he chewed carefully. He nodded, "That's good." He took a sip of his coffee as Phoenix talked about the rumors of hunters and sighed, "I don't have a good feeling about it..." For a short moment, he looked visibly conflicted, "I've been having dreams again. Death, destruction, no survivors. You know how it is." Alex normally didn't like to talk about his dreams and premonitions; hardly any of them came true, and people tended to roll their eyes and not take him seriously. "All I'm saying, is please be careful."

He rested his elbows on the counter, briefly massaging the bridge of his nose between his thumb and index finger, mumbling, "I just don't like it." He was, however, known for being a little over-cautious towards strangers, and he knew that about himself, but the last thing he wanted was a silver knife in the back.

ImageAurora turned in her chair next to Jaiden to dress Alex, "Sounds prefect. I'll keep an eye out for you two" She spoke with a mischievous glint in her eye. It was slight, but nonetheless there.

Turning back to Jaiden, her heart melted at the thought of the animals missing her. "Oh of course. I'm getting so close to understanding Melvin. It's really on the tip of my tongue. Who knew hedgehog was such a difficult dialect?" She spoke with a slight giggle. Her Zoolongualism was definitely rusty as she hadn't used it in years but she tried practicing whenever she was over at Jaidens. Raising an eyebrow at the witches' comment about the flowers Aurora grinned. "Plans? You know I'm all ears, you think it- I can grow it".

The fae's attention was promptly stolen at the words, strawberry and tea, her face lighting up like a child of Christmas. "Phoenix, this smells" she took a small bite of the muffin in front of her, "and tastes delicious". Rory was graciously enjoying the tea and muffin in front of her, after all sweets where a fairy's weakness.

Unfortunately at the mention of hunters, her face suddenly turned ashen. It seemed that the rather chipper one of the group suddenly became the quietest as the others discussed the possibility of hunters in Greythrone. She absentmindedly picked at the muffin wrapper to distract her mind from straying to places that she didn't want it to go. Hunters were always a touchy subject with Aurora, for obvious reasons. It was as if the mention of them turned on her flight-or-fight response. The anxiety from the others were slowly seeping towards her like a thick cloud that left a bitter taste on her tongue.

Aurora suddenly stood up from the table, a cautious yet weary smile on her face. "I'm sorry, I'm just gonna - get some air. And check on the flowers, they're looking a little wilty" She looked towards the cart of flowers near the door, that looked exactly the same as they did when she brought them in this morning. She quickly dashed towards the door opening it, a small squeak coming from her lips as she ran smack into someone who happened to be walking into the cafe. Aurora slowly lifted her eyes to the tall form who stood in front of her immediately noticing his piercing blue eyes, and the coldness that seemed to surround him. He was haunting. "I'm terribly sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going and-" She stopped mid-sentence as he placed a hand on her shoulder freezing her in her tracks. "It's alright, no trouble really." He offered her a smile but it didn't quite reach his eyes. The man stepped aside and Aurora took the opportunity to slip past him out on to the sidewalk taking a comforting breath of fresh air. She instantly felt better. Still, she cast a weary glance back at the stranger watching the door close behind him.

Cas wasn't one for cafΓ©s. Especially not busy ones. But he had seen a few flyers around town in the week that he had been there and couldn't help himself when he saw 'homemade jams' listed as a product. His damn affinity for blackberry jam. It got him in more trouble than he ever could've imagined.

For one he nearly squashed the girl at the door. A skittish one at that, her thoughts were bouncing off the walls a mile a minute. He had met a few with a mind like hers. Most likely a fairy or nymph. After a century he seemed to clump them into synonymous groups. The angel cursed himself for the unwanted attention he had already gathered for himself. As there were more than a few eyes on him. He ran a careful hand through his blonde hair, surveying the inhabitants of the cafe before making his way up to the counter. Cas searched through the menu and his eyes lit up slightly as he saw a near perfect blackberry scone sitting in the display case, as if it had his name written on it.

Casually leaning against the counter, he turned back into the cafΓ©. All the inhabitants seemed busy, happy. It was one thing he seemed to like about Greythorne. Maybe, perhaps, why he was still here. Cas was on his through BC and the town had been the only for miles. It was merely supposed to be a stop, a day or two - which had easily turned into a week. He reminded himself it wasn't like he was in any big hurry anyway, but the longer he stayed the more chance he had to meet people, to make friends, to make mistakes. He'd learned it the hard way.

Phoenix frowned at Alex’s mention of his dreams. He trusted Alex’s gut on the matter, trusted that the dreams couldn’t mean anything good. But nothing had happened yet. Hopefully they’d pass on through and this would all blow over. Everything going to hell was the last thing he needed right now.

He fixed a smile back on his face as he turned around to serve a customer, but Aurora’s sudden departure made the smile slip a little. He turned his attention back to the customer and fixed them up with their lemon and ginger white tea, handing them a free cookie and asking them to spread the news. β€œIs Aurora okay? I hope I didn’t upset her by bringing up the hunters,” he said. He didn’t know much about Aurora or what had brought her to the town, but the speed with which she practically ran out the door made him think it couldn’t be much good.

Somebody called him away to ask him a question. His staff were good and only ever asked him to sort something out if they’d given it a try themselves. He’d trained them in himself, but he couldn’t take all the credit. They were hard workers and he was immensely proud of them. He turned back around to serve a customer at the counter... and for a moment was struck entirely speechless, a rarity for him. There was a man at the counter, and he was honestly possibly the most beautiful man Phoenix had ever seen. His white blonde hair was that perfect type of messy that Phoenix could only ever hope to achieve, and those piercing blue eyes felt like he was looking into Phoenix’s soul. He recovered his composure and fixed the biggest smile he could on to his face.

β€œHi there! What can I get you?” He asked, leaning on the counter a little. He was pretty sure he’d promised himself and/or Jaiden (he had been exhausted and a little drunk at the time, so couldn’t be sure if he’d said it out loud to her) that he was never going to fall for a pretty face again. He knew that if there were hunters in town, he should be especially careful. He didn’t recognize this man and knew that he should probably be careful as a result. But... that perfect face and that perfect hair.

Evelyn just scowled at the mention of the hunters. Her skin was still stinging like hell, and she knew it was going to take a while for it to heal up. But Markus had an oddly calming presence, and she figured he was probably a good ally to have on her side. She raised an eyebrow as he mentioned questioning. β€œI like your thinking.” She said with a grin.

She raised an eyebrow as he made a comment about a vampire such as herself, but just scowled and folded her arms as he commented on the fact that she was obviously relatively new to this. β€œIs it that obvious?” She mumbled. But the offer of treatments and of finally getting answers was just too tempting. Plus, Markus seemed to be more experienced, and he might be a relatively good source of information. And he was a pretty elusive person, so she would be lying if she said she wasn’t curious about learning a little bit more about him.

β€œAlright, I’ll grab his feet, you grab his arms,” she said, bending down to grab the man’s feet. He was broad and muscular, and there was no way Evelyn would have had a hope of moving him by herself. But Markus looked strong at least, so they should be able to manage. Especially because she was pretty sure she’d heard that lycans were stronger than regular humans.

β€œSo, a question for you. Like you said, I’m pretty new to this. I knew a hunter at one stage but he wasn’t a... hunter as such. His family were hunters, but he wasn’t. But none of them had a mark like that guy does. Why do they have a hunter’s mark? Because it makes them stand out, and they’re easy for us to target. Otherwise, we’d hesitate because we wouldn’t know if they were just some poor normal person or not, and they’d have a few seconds of an advantage on us.”

Jaiden smiled as Aurora mentioned she was getting close to understanding how to communicate with Melvin, which caused her to smile and chuckle a bit. Aurora did seem to have a natural affinity with that small creature, seeming to understand him more than Jaiden ever could. It would make sense, Aurora was a Fae, or well, Fairy, so it would make sense that she could talk with animals. She also nodded when Aurora gave her a grin about the flowers, and if she had any in mind that she would gladly make more, which she would gladly indulge her friend in. But before she could really answer or think of what to say next, Aurora got up and said she was going to check on the flowers for a moment, and watched but was taken back as the others gave their opinions on what they thought about the hunters, which caused her to go back to thinking about them.

Jaiden's mind had been distracted by several things, primarily by the notion of hunters in the town. She never had the luxury of running into one, yet. But what she knew about them, genuinely scared her. There was a group, a large one mind you, of specially trained individuals to track down and kill certain species within the supernatural world. The main ones she knew were Vampire, Lycan, and Witch Hunters, knowing full well that there were others out there, but those were for some odd reason the three most talked about Hunters. And they happened to be some of the most fearsome Hunters in existence. She was finally snapped back into reality when Phoenix began to talk to the next customer, with too big of a smile on his face. She barely even looked to the side until she saw what Phoenix was looking at, it was a boy, rather tall, slim, messy blonde hair, stark blue eyes, and pale skill.

She looked back to see Phoenix with that look on his face, causing her to slightly choke on her drink as she knew what he was thinking. "Jesus Christ, Phoenix. Really?" she coughed as she cleaned up the spilled coffee off of her, giving him a certain look in return, Phoenix would know what it meant all too well. Her eyes were somewhat squinted, her nose was partially upturned, tightly clenched jaw, and her arms were crossed. It was the look of disappointment and judgment, as he had indeed promised her he'd never fall in love with another pretty face again, albeit it was when he was incredibly drunk, but even then, he had made a promise and was doing well so far. But the last thing he needed right now was to form a crush on a random stranger, especially right after hearing about news of Hunters being in Greythorne...

Markus grinned when she mumbled something under her breath, normally it would have done undetected, but since his hearing was that of animal's, he was able to hear it clear as day. "Look, I didn't mean it like that. I just meant, that after you've lived as long as I have, and met as many other supernatural beings as me, you learn to pick up on things. It's not a bad thing, it's just something you learn when you have nothing better to do in your free time of a century.." he said rather bluntly. He didn't care that anyone knew how old he truly was, as it didn't matter to him, if anything it helped keep others at bay, if they had the impression of him being older than he was in appearance. He turned and looked when she grabbed his ankles and helped drag him back to Markus' humble abode, which wasn't as far of a treck as anyone would probably think otherwise.

As they had begun walking, Evelyn, if he remembered correctly began to speak again, he wasn't the biggest talker himself, more of a listener. But with the questions she brought up, he couldn't help but want to answer. He had too much time on his hands over the years, and he spent much of it learning. He knew if he was going to live for a long time, why not spend it the best way he could? Gather as much knowledge as he could, especially when it came to his past, and his relationship with Hunters. He finally nodded to her questions as he thought on what to say exactly, until he finally came up with the proper explanation, especially about the mark on their neck. "Well, first, you're very much so correct. Not all Hunters have them, just a small amount do, like our friend here." he said in motion to the man they were carrying back through the woods, if anyone were to see it, they'd suspect a murder, or maybe something else. But Markus didn't really care, not many people came into these woods, and those that did knew that someone watched over these woods.

Markus looked at Evelyn for a moment, and then back to where they were going as they continued walking, "Those that do have the mark, are what we consider rogue Hunters. Hunters that have either went against the Hunter's Code, or have been proven to be too dangerous and were given a mark. My best guess with these two? I got the sense of them being a bit of both, but if I were to assume, I'd say too violent. Even Hunters have a code to follow. And whatever these two bastards did went against it." he stated all too plainly as if he was simply talking about the weather or what he was going to do that day. Hunters didn't really scare him, but what did were the ones like this. Why would they be coming here? He doubted they'd be the only Hunters to come here, and he'd expect more to arrive at any point.

"Anyway, my home is just a bit further up this way. We can discuss more when we're behind closed doors. We don't know who else could be watching, or listening. Even though I don't sense anything, yet." he said as he looked back at the woman that was helping in carrying the Hunter. Something about her, seemed off. She wasn't like most vampires he met, especially not the new ones that he had met before. She was almost too human, and for her own good and safety. It was something he'd have to help her learn. While he wasn't the biggest fan of vampires, all considering his ast with them, he wasn't going to turn away one that was obviously too new, and in a way innocent to the world she was recently welcomed to.

Alex couldn't help but chuckle at Aurora's mischievous tone. He didn't know if it was her fey abilities or her personality, but something about Aurora just made him feel... good, happy even. In a way he didn't typically feel. But all the talk of hunters clearly affected her, and it wasn't long before she was practically running out the door. He stared at the stranger that walked in right behind her, only for a moment, before turning to say something to Phoenix, who was completely and utterly distracted. He rolled his eyes and stood, "I think I'm going to check on her. I have to head out, anyway." He rummaged through his pack to pay for his order, and decided to cover Aurora's as well, "Here, go ahead and cover her's, keep the change, you know the drill." He started walking for the door, but he paused for a moment, briefly considering offering another word of warning, but he decided against it. He had no specifics, and he didn't want to worry anyone more.

Once he walked out the door, he sped up for a moment to catch up with Aurora, cleared his throat to get her attention without startling her, "Hey, you okay?" He paused for a moment, "I just...' In truth, he couldn't let her rush out like that and be alone unless he knew without a doubt she was going to be okay. He knew that hunters left everyone with feelings of anxiety and dread, feelings he with which he was entirely too acquainted. "I'm never right about these things, you know, there's probably nothing to worry about."

He offered a smile, though he wasn't the best at being comforting, he was trying. "I also wanted to make sure you don't get run over, I'm pretty sure you came close to being completely flattened back there." He shrugged, "Can't have anything happen to you, then where would I get all my flowers?"

Phoenix could feel a burning gaze into the side of his head, and he knew exactly who it was coming from. A sideways glance at Jaiden confirmed that. He knew exactly what that look meant. It meant he'd be getting a stern talking to the minute this handsome stranger walked away. At best.

The man asked for a scone and asked about the jams. His comment about Phoenix making his day made Phoenix blush a little, but somehow, through some miracle, he kept his composure. "Sure thing. One blackberry scone..." he said, fishing the pastry out of the display cabinet and putting it on a plate for the man. "And just give me a minute to go find you some jam," he said, before heading in to the kitchen. The jam had been something to mostly lure in a few of the grandmothers in the town, who had always requested Phoenix to make them jam. It was something about berries that grew under the influence of his magic, they said. He'd always had berry bushes at home, which had come with him to live on his balcony now.

While in the kitchen, he exhaled heavily, taking advantage of the alone time to give himself a mental warning. Hunters in town meant that strangers equaled bad. He should know that, did know that. Besides, the man at the counter was way, way out of Phoenix' league. He was just entertaining Phoenix, that was all. His minute up, he quickly fired a text off to Jaiden. "Quit looking at me like that, you'll scare the customers off." He fished out an armful of jars of blackberry jam and went back out to the counter.

"Three jars of my finest blackberry jam. Berries were grown by yours truly. And if it meets your approval, come back in any time and I'll fix you up. My name's Phoenix, by the way," he said as he handed over the jam. "So, what brings you to town? We don't get many newcomers here, and I know I haven't seen you around here before. I wouldn't forget a face like yours," he said. The one, tiny, sensible part left in his brain swore at him, but it was too late to take it back now.

Evelyn listened as the man spoke, explaining why certain Hunters were marked and others weren't. It made sense, really, so that other hunters could tell the good from the bad. And possibly so the supernatural could too. But it didn't exactly console her if it were the bad ones that were targeting the town. She had millions more questions and comments to make, but he basically told her to stay quiet until they were indoors. As if they didn't already look suspicious as hell carrying a guy through the woods like this, they were doing it in silence. She managed to hold her tongue for a few more minutes, but her curiosity got the better of her.

"You said that you were able to pick up on the fact that I'm new to this just because you've been around so long. What exactly was it that gave it away? The fact that I didn't apply SPF all over my body? Because the one I use is kinda expensive and it's really nice and almost too nice to waste on parts of my body that I'm gonna be covering anyway. Or, like, is it something else entirely?" She asked, readjusting her grip on the man's feet. From the little she knew about the supernatural, lycans tended to be incredibly strong, so she knew that Markus could probably handle him all on his own. But she liked feeling like she was helping, and besides, she wanted to stay on his good side. If he was experienced, he might be able to help her out.

"Oh wow, is this your house? It's really cute. Totally worth trekking out to the middle of the woods for, to be honest. And I bet it's super peaceful out here. I've never even been this deep into the forest. I bet you can see the stars really clearly out here," she remarked. Seeing the stars was her favourite part of having to stick to the hours of darkness. Out here, it was so remote that you could see every constellation, and on some nights they were so bright she didn't even need to rely on her improved night vision.

A shadow of a grin formed on her face when she saw Phoenix duck back into the cafe to look for the jam that the new guy asked for. She gave him the cautious side-eye, that was until she heard her phone beep in her jacket's pocket, which caused her to quickly take it out and look who messaged her. She grinned as she saw it was Phoenix simply asking her to stop looking at him like that. She chuckled and simply replied back with as much sass as he was deserving of, Maybe when you stop giving him those eyes, then just maybe. Or if you continue, I will scare this one off. Your choice, lover boy. she said in response to Phoenix' plea. She tucked her phone back into her pocket and got out of the seat, deciding it was best she left, otherwise she'd get ahead of herself and forget what she needed around the town before she went home.

She gave the new guy another look, this one was a tad bit longer of a gaze as she couldn't exactly nail what she was thinking, something was...Off about this one. With one last look she shook her head and walked out of the door, giving Phoenix one last friendly word of advice and good luck, and left. Seeing Alex and Aurora talking across the street she gave them an awkward wave and proceeded to walk to the nearest store for some last-minute supplies before she would make her way back to her house in the woods. In all public eye she was the outgoing, friendly type of social butterfly everyone would love to be friends with, but in reality, Jaiden wished she could just disappear and never have to interact with anyone ever again, simply out of fear of hurting someone else, but she knew it was impossible, especially with the supposed Hunters coming. And she was slowly getting more and more scared as time passed.

A soft sigh escaped his lips as the woman named Evelyn continued talking, something Markus didn't normally mind. But, she just didn't stop talking. It was like she was almost a machine, that never ran out of fuel. He did the best he could to remain calm and hold his composure as she rambled on about how did he know she was new to being a vampire and such. A small grin spread across his face, but it soon faded as he thought of an answer. "Well, yes and no. It's, complicated really." he began to speak as they continued walking with the body. He could feel a slight tug as he assumed Evelyn began to drop the man, stopping in his steps as she got a hold of him again, and they resumed walking.

"By that I mean you have tells of being new. For a vampire, you're awfully cheery and rather, in a sense, still rather human. And by that I mean you don't have the normal signs of an aged and experienced vampire. And there's nothing wrong with it in general, but when it comes to Hunters, it shows you're new, vulnerable, and not as skilled as others are. You make an easier target, and your newness, once it's exposed, can easily be used against you." he finally stopped and took a breath, he didn't normally talk this much and it was beginning to show. He took a moment to compose his mind and let him think for a moment before he began to speak again.

"You need to study and examine your targets more carefully. Don't speak until their motives are clear. If these were any more experienced Hunters, they would have killed you all too easily. What I'm trying to say is, learn more, act less until you know what you need to. Your gut will tell you the rest." he said with a calm tone. Markus was a loner, that much was true, but he wasn't any less of a tutor, and when he saw moments of being able to teach someone, he took it. If he could help someone, he would. He was a loner, not heartless, and that's what made him misunderstood amongst most of the people in this town.

As they continued talking, a small house in the distance appeared, seeing as he left some of the lights still on, having forgotten them. He turned his head to look at Evelyn, a small shadow of what could be considered a smile spread across his face as he turned back to look at his humble home. "Indeed it is. It's small, but I don't need much room as it's just me, usually. It's the best way to stay out of the eye of people, and to myself. I prefer being alone usually." he said with a remotely cold tone. He walked up to the door, unlocked it with one hand he kicked the door with his boot lightly so they could enter. He tossed his keys on the floor and nodded to Evelyn. "Make yourself at home. I'll take care of this guy first, and then I'll take a look at the wound you got there." he said with a bit of sympathy and worry in his voice. He closed the door and locked it behind them, picking up the still unconscious man, tossing him onto his shoulder he unlocked one of the other doors and walked down into the darkly lit basement, being able to see perfectly fine due to the wolf in him.

A few minutes later Markus emerged from the basement, the man was shackled by several cuffs and impossibly breakable chains that kept him to the wall. There was no way he was getting out, due to one way out as there were no windows, and the door was bolted and locked. It was where Markus would retreat to if he didn't turn outdoors, so he wasn't going anywhere without them knowing. He finally found Evelyn in one of the rooms and looked at her with a raised eyebrow, "Ready?" he asked, both of his arms folded neatly behind his back.

The sun was high in the sky as Violet made her way out of her grandmother's house as she had been living there for the past few years, or what one would call living, seeing as she was a Ghost in past recent years. Violet usually kept to herself, residing in the small colonial house with her aging grandmother who had all since her own passing, forgot about her granddaughter and has remained oblivious to Violet's presence. Only ever getting a slight chill or feeling as though someone was in the house with her. Much to Violet's dismay, her grandmother's ever-declining health had been weighing on her mind lately, and not being able to communicate with her much anymore had often been a result in her worsening depression. But she wasn't going to let that bring her down, especially not today as it was the grand opening of that new caffe in the town. She heard whispers about it, and she was excited, even if she wasn't able to partake in the food part, she was going to show her support to the owner, Phoenix. They had been good enough friends, even with Violet being a ghost.

He was always nice to her, as well as were some of the other patrons in the town, even those were few and far between. Thankfully the house wasn't too far from where she was going, and soon enough she made it, seeing one of the locals leaving the establishment, Jaiden Price was her name, if Violet could remember correctly. Jaiden was nice to her the few times they talked, but it never lasted very long due to them both being introverts and socially awkwardness. Violet smiled as she walked through the door, rather literally and saw a thinning group of people at the front counter. And there Phoenix was, as well as a new person. He was tall, like very tall, had bright eyes, and pale blonde hair and skin, something about him unnerved Violet, but she didn't know what it was. Just, something about his presence, the very feeling he radiated scared her a bit. She shook her head and looked at the man she was there for, "Hey, Phoenix! How's it going? Good I hope! I'm glad this place turned out as well as it did!" she said with a large and toothy smile, not having realized she had rather literally walked right through the stranger, stepping to the side she gave him a blushed grin. "M-my bad. I don't always realize it, I'm sorry..." she said with an awkward chuckle as she rubbed the back of her neck.

ImageAurora bit the inside of her cheek as he teasingly leaned close whispering into her ear. She assumed he was close enough, he could probably count the freckles on her face. After he pulled away to look at her she feigned a look of sadness, blowing a small sigh out of her lips. β€œThat’s a shame. I would’ve scared him off anyway. I always do”, She said partially joking, but there still was some truth to her tone. Rory hadn’t done much dating since her arrival to Greythrone. She’d tried, but all she had managed to do was scare off a werewolf and a siren. Aurora had summed it up to her fae nature - no one simply could keep up with her. Regardless she was happy, and kept herself too busy to think much about romantic relationships.

Aurora rolled her eyes at the haunting comment placing her hands on her hips. β€œOh yes, I think a 5’4’’ glitter bomb would be particularly haunting” She wiggled her fingers in his face mimicking the β€˜highly-unrealistic’ boo’s that humans had attributed to ghosts before ending in a fit of giggles. β€œOh really? My favorite? I’m curious as to how you came to that outlandish conclusion” Rory said raising an eyebrow. β€œYou know, I think my favorite would have at least remembered their order of flowers. Nonetheless, I like to think of myself as a rather forgiving person so I’ll let it slide this time” She turned on her heel and began walking down the sidewalk calling back over her shoulder. β€œYou’re more than welcome to pick them up now, I’m on my way back anyway. Unless you’ve had your daily dose of Aurora today and can pick them up tomorrow.”

Cas’s eyes lit up in delight as the man placed the lovely looking scone on a plate and setting it in front of him. If he were being honest, he might of ordered every jam the store had, after all he had plenty of time to try all of them. While he was back in the kitchen getting the jam, Cas’s eyes roamed back to the rest of the cafe instantly locking eyes with someone who’s burning gaze had been boring into the back of his head the entire time he had been talking to the man at the counter. It was a woman, who didn’t look particularly happy with his presence. A best friend most likely, she didn’t trust him. She was probably right. When she had noticed that he had caught her gaze she turned away leaving the store, causing him to turn back to the counter just as a handful of jam jars were placed in front of him.

Cassiel bit his lip slightly to keep from grinning wildly as the man, Phoenix, rambled on in front of him. Asking too many questions for Cas’s normal liking but at this point he found that he really didn’t mind. The comment about the homegrown berries made him raise an eyebrow and he truly didn’t doubt that they were as good as Phoenix described. β€œPromising me endless jars of jam is a little dangerous. I might drive you crazy” He said with a slight chuckle, β€œI’m Cas, Cas Davis” He had dropped the last half of his name a few years after the fall - he didn’t feel like he was Cassiel anymore, not to mention he never liked giving too much information to anyone. Cas had adopted the last name Davis on the third day he fell after he ran into a man with the same last name. It was simple, common, not too flashy, it worked.

Cassiel wasn’t surprised that Phoenix asked him many questions about who he was and why he was here. He didn’t blame him, if a stranger strolled into his quiet town too he’d be a little suspicious. It wasn’t the first time that someone had fired questions at him, but it had been quite sometime so for a moment he was a little taken by surprise. Maybe it was the fact that the last couple of years he had distanced himself from others to avoid this exact situation. It didn’t take him long to get over the small little hiccup before the words flowed out of him convincingly. He had spent years perfecting a story, in fact many. The business owner, the professor, the traveler, the list went on and on. It was sort of amusing to him, to see how creative and elaborate he could possibly get with his backstory. He always found it interesting how easily others believed him, of course there were certain things you had to follow. For one, he could never tell too little or too much - either end of the spectrum seemed suspicious.

Still, looking into Phoenix’s eyes he felt bad. Bad about lying. Cas normally never felt any sort of adherence to anyone in a while, but this man in front of him made it a little more difficult. Especially when he threw flirtatious banter his way. β€œTo be quite honest” oh how he humored himself sometimes, β€œGreythorne was simply a stop. I only meant to stay in town for a night, I’m on my way up to White Horse in Yukon. My sister lives there. I guess there’s just something about this town that wants to keep me here. And I have a terrible feeling that your jam might be the cause of that” He said with a chuckle and a slight wink.

Cas’s expression faltered however when he felt an odd, pulling sensation and took a small step back noticing that a girl had quite literally walked through him. Any normal human might’ve fainted at the sight but Cas assumed that most everyone in this town had some sort of oddness. At least, most of them didn’t have any problem with hiding it. That thought alone unnerved him slightly, after seeing the Salem ordeal unfold he’d imagined every supernatural being were weary of being open about themselves. Ghosts were also something that Cas resonated differently with, most of the time he felt bad for them. Lost souls stuck in the middle. As he looked inquisitively at the young ghost in front of him he assumed she must have a place waiting for her above. She didn’t seem too menacing. He offered her a warm smile as she realized what she had done, β€œdon’t worry, I promise you that’s not the first time that has ever happened” a teasing glint in his eye. That was the truth.

Not wanting to intrude on Phoenix’s conversation with the ghost girl, he placed way more than what he owed down on the counter grabbing his scone and jam jars. β€œThanks for the scone and the jams, - oh and keep the change” Cas offered one last alluring smile in Phoenix’s direction before settling himself into a quiet corner of the cafe, not wasting much time before biting into the scone. Out of his two-hundred something years on Earth it was quite possibly the best blackberry scone he had ever had.

Phoenix had promised himself that he wouldn't fall head over heels so quickly again, that he wouldn't fall for the first stranger that paid him even the slightest bit of attention. But one conversation with Cas, and Phoenix could feel himself falling down that rabbit hole all over again. He kept a plentiful supply of blackberry scones on the counter at all times and made sure he always had blackberry jam on hand. He'd forgotten how good this felt, the rush of seeing the man walk in.

And then there was still the nights when the loneliness weighed so heavily on his chest that he had to stay moving for fear it would pin him down and suffocate him. Cas had never intended on sticking around, he reminded himself. Why was he doing this to himself? Why was he letting himself get his heart broken all over again? How hadn't he learned by now? He was beginning to run out of distractions, and pouring his excess energy into his houseplants had backfired. The lavender had nearly taken over the balcony, and there was now a little pot of it in every room in his house, as well as some of his friends. The blackberries were thriving, though.

But a distraction arrived in the form of the annual Fall Festival. It seemed a little stereotypical for a town that largely consisted of the monsters that others dressed up as, but it was Phoenix's favourite time of year, and offered the perfect distraction as he concocted the perfect fall recipes and planned themed events for the cafΓ©. Everyone's favourite evening was the second last night festival, and it was the first night Phoenix was letting himself have off. The cafΓ© had a small stall, overflowing with handcrafted treats and serving themed drinks, but his staff had pretty much ordered him to go enjoy himself, even just for a few hours.

Phoenix loved the food and the smells of the festival, but deep down, his favourite part was seeing the entire town in costume. For a night, anybody could be anybody, and you had to do a double take as people walked past or waved. He hadn't exactly put in a whole lot of effort into his outfit, switching out the vest for a long sleeved black t-shirt at the last minute, but the wings had been his distraction for the past few nights. He'd DIYed a cheap masquerade mask and overall, was pretty happy with the result. So having been shoved away from his stand with a cup of his custom spiced cider in his hands, he found himself grinning as he wandered around the festival.

The hunter in the woods had proved to be a surprisingly willing informant for their plans. Then again, faced with an overly chatty vampire and a grumpy lycan, who wouldn't be? But what they'd found out had unnerved Evelyn. There was apparently more hunters coming to the town. And the majority of them were branded. That's what they called themselves. The Branded. The ones deemed too dangerous. No, Evelyn didn't like the thought of them working together at all.

And clearly, they weren't superstitious. If Evelyn had had to pick a time to attack a town of the supernatural, she wouldn't have chosen the few days in the run up to Halloween. She didn't know if they were any more powerful, but she figured that only an idiot would chance it. But no, apparently they had plans. And of course, the whole town was out in force, in masquerade to boot. Thankfully, she didn't see any stereotypical vampire costumes. She was on edge enough, and seeing one might have just driven her over. She was rather proud of her outfit, topped off with a mask she'd found at the last minute. Once upon a time, she would have worn something a little more daring, but she wanted to be able to move and to fight if she had to. And besides, there seemed to be a range of outfits, ranging from truly artistic to the usual "sexy" ones.

She wished that this hadn't been her first time experiencing the festival, because it was amazing. The sights, the sounds, the smells. Everyone seemed so happy, so relaxed. Evelyn found herself praying that nothing would happen, that they'd been lied to. She couldn't let herself relax. Everyone that she didn't immediately recognise posed a threat, and with everyone in costumes and masked, it was impossible to immediately recognise anyone. She exhaled heavily. It would be fine. It had to be.

Time had passed by slowly as the next few days came and gone. Jaiden visited the cafe almost every day as she needed her coffee fix, never letting it go with how Phoenix always looked at the man that came in for his jam and sweets. His name was Cas Davis, and something was odd about him, she couldn't place her finger on it, but something just didn't sit right with her about him. But her real priority was somewhere else, the next few days would be bringing Halloween, and the town's local fest, the Fall Festival. It was one of the few things that she honestly looked forwards to, and she already had her mind on ideas for outfits. She had finished her's off all too soon as she had the concept in mind for a while, and was busy at work making what she would end up dressing with. On the other hand, the hard part was the mask. Every year people would dress up and wear masks, and every year she would have something different, this time she decided to opt for a small and rather basic, leather mask that was dyed a crimson color with some small details on it, nothing over the top, but was fancy enough for what she was trying to achieve.

There were a few people she had in mind that she remembered that they requested that if she had the time, she could make some masks for them as well, and she happily obliged. Then she remembered two other people specifically that would need masks, one would be more ornate and fancy than her own, and the other would be more on the basic side of things, as she knew the latter person wasn't much for dressing up, unless it was the Festival. Then he went about as out and extravagant as he could. Over the last few days she had finished their masks and personally delivered them herself. Their reactions were as she expected, one was excited and happy with how it turned out, the other simply thanked her.

But the day finally came, The Fall Festival was here and Jaiden couldn't be any happier. She had gotten some of her chores done for that day and was getting things ready for the evening, getting into her costume and grabbing her mask, she'd it on when she got closer to the downtown side of where the festival was always held. Finally, she made it and found herself smiling, so many people. Humans and supernatural alike, they were all dressed up and communing with one another. She smiled and put on her mask before she decided to join in on the fun, she grabbed some coffee and snacks from one of the stands and began to walk around and look at the other's costumes and see if she could spot any familiar or unfamiliar faces. Her mind was on the thought of Hunters, and if they were here, it would be almost imossible to find them out in this large of a masked crowd.

The next few days had passed by slowly for Markus just as he had expected. He and Evelyn interrogated the Hunter, and what they got was surprising to him. He knew they were of the Branded kind, that much he knew, but the fact that specifically those kind of Hunters coming here brought a tang of anxiety and fear in him. The thought of Brandeds coming to Greythorne didn't sit well with him. As the days past, he kept the Hunter in his cellar, only ever letting him out to use the bathroom and back to the cellar he'd go. Always remaining handcuffed and locked up, he couldn't risk him getting out until he knew what he was going to do with him.

The days continued passing by, and Markus had remembered that the Fall Festival was around the corner, he'd need a costume and mask, even though he wasn't a fan of masks, he knew one person that hand made them with care, he had asked one of the few artists and designers in the town if she could make a mask for him, and she was all too happy to help. Markus didn't know her well, but from what he knew, she was a decent person, rather kind, skittish and introverted, but nonetheless kind to him. He knew what she was, specifically her being a witch, but he didn't care. He had no right to judge anyone, or anything, especially with his past. When the day came for his mask to be delivered he thanked Jaiden with a kind smile and a small hug, offering if she ever needed anything, he'd gladly help.

A small smile spread across his face when he opened the small box, revealing the mask that he had custom made for him specifically. It turned out far better than what he expected and was all too thankful. It was basic, but fancy enough for what he had in mind. The day finally came when the Festival would begin, he dressed into his costume and put on the mask, looking himself over in the mirror, he looked stupid, but he didn't care as much as he normally would. Everyone would look a little dopey and he was okay with that, besides, wearing a mask would help his insecurities and social anxieties a bit. Soon the time came and he found himself in the middle of the festival, walking around with a cup of fresh coffee in his hand and a small smile on his face as he looked at all the people dressed in costumes, but the thought of the Hunter in his basement was on the back of his mind, he wouldn't be able to stay too long, but long enough to have a good time.

the next few days Violet had felt absolutely awful and embarrassed. She accidentally had passed through the man more than once as the week had gone on, never realizing it until it was too late, always apologizing and feeling embarrassed about it. Half of the time she had spent in the house, watching over her grandmother, more often than not she spent time talking to her, even though it was mostly one-sided conversations. But seeing her grandmother and being able to talk was rather therapeutic for her, and she needed it. She needed a way to escape and find a way to vent, and often rambling to her grandmother helped, even if she couldn't hear or see her.

But as the days passed Violet became aware of the fact that the Fall Festival was coming up, and she'd need to do something about it. As it was Halloween, she'd be at her strongest, as in a sense, a "portal" from the other side would be opened the ghosts would be at their strongest, as well as being able to fully communicate and interact with the living, even though it was only a few hours. Violet relished Holloween for reasons like that, and she took it with glee. She was more than excited when a small box was left on the front porch of her house, it contained a small and rather beautiful mask inside, containing a letter as well. It was from one of the locals, Jaiden Price to be specific. A small smile creeped on her face.

Jaiden had always been nice to her, and no matter what, she always saw her as a friend or as much of a friend that a ghost-like her could have. The day finally came and Violet had decided on her costume, it would be basic enough, but it was all that she could really do. She'd only have a few hours until she returned to her normal state of not being able to be seen or fully interact with the living, and she was aware of that fact. The time soon came and the festival began, Violet happily and excitedly found herself in the middle of the town, amongst the people in costumes, laughing, smiling, and having a good time. This was one of the few times she could be with people and feel alive again, and she took it head on. She put on her mask and happily found herself walking around, smiling and talking with people, finding out the latest news and gossip, simply trying to be able to have that feeling of what it was like to be alive again, and this year, she was going to take it as much as she could.

Under normal circumstances, this would have been Alex's favorite night of the year. He'd spent months working on his costume, sewing and re-sewing pieces, hand stitching details, giving up on the mask and buying it online; all while trying to maintain some sort of historical accuracy, even with his Abuela's constant "Alex, who cares how historically accurate it is? It's creepy. That's all anyone's going to notice." He cared if it was accurate! So, normally, he would be absolutely thrilled, but tonight he was more worried than anything. "You just gotta get the dreams out of your mind, Alex." He mumbled to himself, "I know that hunters are almost certainly getting too close for comfort, but nothing bad ever really comes of it. It'll be fine." Still, he couldn't shake the feeling that he should just climb into bed and skip the festival entirely.

Instead, he got ready; layer by layer, piece by piece. At least I'll stay warm. He thought to himself, trying to put thoughts of fire, death, destruction, and hunters out of his mind. "Alex," he turned when he heard his name. This was the first time his Abuela had seen all the pieces of his costume put together, "my god. Don't you think you've taken the 'melancholic ghost boy' thing a little too far?"

He looked down at himself, "No that's not- it's not... It's a plague...." He sighed, "I am not working out my reasoning with you." She rolled her eyes, mumbled something about scaring children, and the two of them set out for the festival, originally together, but they split up pretty quickly once they hit the crowd. A short wave of panic hit Alex, but he swallowed it down, adjusted his hat, and kept an eye out for friendly faces. He would certainly feel better around friends; instead, he felt swallowed by a mob of vaguely familiar faces, and some he couldn't place at all. The mask didn't help, and he was already considering ditching it for some piece of mind, but he decided to take it a step at a time, everything was going to be just fine.

ImageThe fall festival was perhaps one of Aurora's favorite times of the year. The treats, the decorations, the costumes. It was an absolute delight to the fae. She had a small both set up with an array of fall flowers, from colorful mums to big sunflowers. Aurora had enlisted the help of her brother Lynn to help her run the cart for the night (also allowing her to leave and find her friends) granted she was paying him good money. While the idea of family had always been a touchy subject for Aurora, the Carsons took her in with opens arms five years ago and treated her like she was their own. The older kids in the family, Megan and Peter had since left Greythorne both seeking a normal life outside the town's magical walls. Lynn, however, was the youngest and only a sophomore at the local high school where her adoptive mother taught. It took Aurora a little convincing to get him to help her considering he was still just a teenage boy, but after the promise of money and the idea that flowers most definitely attracted the girls he agreed. "Alright, just text me if you need me or anything goes wrong okay?" "Aurora - I'll be fine" "Okay, but seriously just" "Aurora" "Fine, fine, I'll leave you be. I'm going to go get some apple cider and try to find some of my friends" Lynn nodded at her comment and she took one more glance at her flowers to make sure none of them were wilting before disappearing into the crowd.

She quite obviously stood out amongst the others in the crowd with her costume. She had spent a week putting together the pastel witch ensemble and managed to find the perfect mask at the local costume shop. Aurora was pretty proud of it, and had been holding in her excitement all week. She couldn't wait to show Phoenix, Jaiden, and Alex. After she ordered a warm cup of cider she weaved through the crowd, trying her best to see through the costumed people around her despite her small stature. She grinned after she noticed the familiar form of Jaiden making her way over to the witch. "You look, amazing!" Aurora spoke from behind her, "You pull off steampunk perfectly".

Cassiel couldn't believe he was still here. He had stayed in Greythorne longer than any other town in the past 50yrs. Every night, he told himself he was going to leave and every morning he got up and walked to Phoenix's cafe for a blackberry scone and coffee. At this point his order was already ready for him before he had even got there. And the even bigger problem - Phoenix. After some digging Cas concluded the man was a witch, he hadn't encountered many in his life time. Most angels were taught that witches were in cahoots with the devil but Cas didn't really get the 'satan-worshipper' vibe from him. Cas would know, he had actually met quite a few of those during his time on Earth. Regardless, Cas had begun to explore the rest of the town during his extended stay, finding it quite charming. Maybe he could stay for just a bit longer, it couldn't hurt too much.

He wouldn't have even known about the festival if it hadn't been for Phoenix himself, inviting him to experience a little bit of what made Greythorne, Greythorne. Cas had politely declined, dressing up for fun wasn’t really his thing and he was rather afraid of getting too involved in the lives of those in the town. If he hadn’t already. But, as he sat in the small bed in the room of the Mom and Pop bed-in-breakfast staring at the white ceiling Cas began to wonder what would be the worst that could happen if he went. He didn’t actually have to talk to anyone, and in costume, it would be harder to recognize him. Even though he stood out quite distinctly from the natives of Greythorne. So he mulled on it for half an hour and then finally decided to at least check it out. Cas promised himself he would just walk around, maybe get some treats and then hurry back to his room, pack his things, and leave.

Cassiel didn’t have much of a costume so he sifted through his things before settling on a dressed up version of himself, putting on his silver cross necklace. The second he stepped out into the street he was overwhelmed with the sheer amount of people all dressed up, and the decorations the town had put together. There was live music, lights, booths with any kind of snack you could think of, carnival games, and even a small ferris wheel. A small smile appeared on his face just at the sheer sight of it all. For some reason everything made him just a little sad.

As he made his way into the outskirts of the festival he realized that he was missing a key part of his look - a mask. After scouring around he finally found a small vendor selling all types of masks and picked up a rather ominous skeleton one, shoving a few fives into the man’s hand. Now feeling a little more concealed he moved into the thick of the crowd, not entirely sure as to what he was looking for.

One of Phoenix's favourite things about this was the sheer variety of costumes. There was some who were wearing their own clothes and a mask, some who had clearly put most of their effort into one bold, aspect, and others who had gone entirely overboard. And none of them were out of place. Some kids ran over and touched his wings, and Phoenix bent down and bent them towards them so they could feel them properly. They giggled and ran away again, their dad shooting him a thankful look as he jogged after them.

Phoenix did a double take as he spotted one costume, before grinning to himself. Even if he didn't see their face, he only knew one person who would wear something like that. "Alex!" he called as he jogged up to him, already grinning. "Your costume is amazing! Seriously, dude, I was genuinely freaked out!" He gushed. He decided not to mention that he could see at least one kid who appeared to be generally terrified of Alex. "Is your abuela here? Please tell me she dressed up too," he said.

There was a figure standing a few metres away. Phoenix would have immediately recognised that figure anywhere by this point. The only reason he hesitated was because he'd said he wouldn't come. But sure enough, it was Cas, wearing a skull mask and a very, very flattering suit. "Cas!" He called, waving and beckoning Cas over, his grin widening as he did so. The small, sensible part of his brain that he had left sighed dramatically, but it was too late. He could just say hi, he told himself. He could show Cas around a little. He could just be a friendly face. It didn't have to mean anything.

Evelyn was new in town, and quickly realised that she didn't exactly know too many people. She bought a chai latte and a slice of brownie and ate them as she wandered around, stopping to buy some sunflowers from a stall. The range of costumes endeared her, from kids dressed as ghosts and skeletons and cats to... someone apparently dressed as a plague doctor? And there was everything in between.

As she strolled through the stalls, she fell in love with the people. She spotted two girls talking to each other, one dressed in steampunk gear, and another in a, frankly, adorable pastel witch outfit. "Oh my god, I know this is weird, but I love your outfits! You guys look so cool!" She gushed as she passed, but didn't stop to talk.

She spotted a familiar figure, dressed in a costume that made her smirk. She made her way over to him. "Ahoy there, matey. Glad to have a first mate on this journey of ours." She teased, tipping her hat at him. "Didn't realise this was exactly your scene. Good to know you're not too grumpy to have a little fun." She added. The fact that the two of them had basically worn the same costume made her smirk. "You know, people are going to talk about us wearing the same costume. They might even think we're friends," she teased.

"Did our mutual friend diverge any more information about what's going to go down?" She asked lightly, but the weight behind them was real. They couldn't ignore it, despite how much she wanted to just ignore it all and have a good evening.

Jaiden was casually strolling about the town, smiling away as she saw everyone in their costumes, clearly, some had been worked on for months as they were incredibly detailed, and others were, well...Last-minute projects most likely are thrown together with whatever they could find. Even those had their own campy, cliche charm to them and made her smile. There was anything from the cliche witch costumes, to werewolves and vampires, to even angels, with the halo and wings. All of the cheesy and cliche costumes caused her to roll her eyes a bit and shake her head as they were simply stereotypical costumes you'd see. But that didn't stop her from having fun and enjoying the night, as seeing normal humans joining in on the fun made her heart flutter a bit, as it was all too peaceful and happy.

She was happily enjoying the festivities when an all too familiar voice came from behind her, complimenting her outfit and how it fit her as well as it did. A small smile and blush covered her face as she heard the compliment, for once she was happy to be masked, otherwise the look on her face would have been too tall of a tell tale sign. "Heh, thank you, Rory. I spent, a bit of time on this, I'm glad you think it turned out well!" she said with a smile and awkward chuckle as she tucked her hair behind her ear, looking at her friend's costume. It was more on the cliche end of the spectrum, but it fit her and was fitting as it helped increase her usual cuteness. Jaiden was going to reply when a woman dressed in a pirate's outfit walked past them, complimenting them on their costumes, all Jaiden was able to do before the woman disappeared out of sight was being able to yell out a thank you, doubting the woman even heard it.

The witch turned back to look at Aurora and gave an awkward chuckle as she spoke, "Uhm, sorry about that. Y-you look really cute! I uh,I mean your costume is really cute. Not to say you aren't, I just mean that it looks great on you, as does everything really." she rambled out, trying to ease the awkwardness and unease she felt, but the more she spoke the more she realized how awkward she was making things, she just hoped Aurora hadn't assumed anything, she was simply just trying to return a compliment back to Aurora, that was all. At least that's what she kept internally telling herself.

Markus had been enjoying himself a bit as he strolled through the town, enjoying the sights and people, which he usually didn't. But it was Halloween after all and he usually loved this holiday, one of the few things in life that still gave him a bit of relief in his otherwise monotonous and boring life. He was silently enjoying things as he heard an all too familiar voice call out to him from the crowd, stopping in his tracks with his back turned, Oh come on, she already found me? Fuck.., he thought to himself as he slowly turned around to see the woman that called out to him. Sure enough, it was Evelyn, and to his utter shock, and some may even say his dismay, sure enough, they had managed to completely and utterly match costume ideas.

A small sigh escaped his lips as he knew he should be nicer to her than he normally wouldn't be, he wasn't entirely heartless and cold. Besides, while she did tend to ramble, a lot, he had to remind himself that she didn't mean any harm or annoyance, she simply wanted to know more. A small smile spread across his lips as he spoke giving her a small bow, "Aye aye, Cap'n." he teased, his smirk lasting a little more than normal. His normal expression soon overcame his face when she mentioned him being grumpy and old, simply rolling his eyes he dismissed the tease. "I for one love Halloween, and I'm not grumpy, I just simply don't have the mindset for human things anymore. I'm sorry I let my age get the better of me sometimes. I may look young, but I don't always feel it." he gave her a bit of a teasing smile and wink, walking a bit as they resumed talking.

His eyebrow twitched a bit at the mention of the Hunter, it was too exposed and out in the open where they were. People could possibly overhear them and that was the last thing he wanted. To cause mass hysteria and panic in a large crowd like this. He simply gave her the side eye until they managed to walk somewhere more private and less people focused. It was an area with a few benches and tables, clearly set up if large groups or family's wanted to sit and eat together. When he was sure they weren't being watched or followed he thought about what had transpired after Evelyn left his house. How the silence was welcoming.

Markus shot her a look before he spoke, "Not much of anything useful, really. Just that an attack would be coming, sometime soon and that if we weren't careful or got out of here innocent people would be put at risk. But we can't evacuate a whole town of people like us, too obvious and glaring, ontop of dangerous and questionable." he said, speaking quietly, making sure his senses kept him aware at all times of his surroundings.

"I don't know how many are here, if any more, but I doubt there was only two. I suspect more will be coming eventually. Don't trust or talk about this to anyone you don't know or is new here, we don't know who we can or cannot trust. Except for other people like us, but not everyone is open about it." he said with a solemn and urgent tone. His expression changed as did his voice as he gave her a look as he stood up, "It's Halloween, and you need to enjoy yourself. As well as it really being your first time here and seeing the town, you should go make some friends, I think I know some you may end up liking." he said as he gave her a small smile, as if being genuine. He was, she needed some friends, but this was also a last ditch attempt on his part to get her off of his back and give him some peace away from her. She talked too much for his liking, he put up with her as much as she could, it was just the talking...

Imageβ€œIt turned out amazing! I wish I was that talented” Aurora said with a small sigh but a smile on her face. β€œLucinda helped me with most of the putting together - I just got to pick the colors” She giggled, as she remembered sitting at the Carson’s dining table while Lucinda stitched the skirt. Lucinda was amazing, but the more time she spent with her the more Rory missed her own mother.

Rory turned to face Evelyn just as the vampire was already making her way back through the crowd offering her a small smile and gratitude. Evelyn was one of the most conflicted people she had ever met, besides Alex, but she was a sweetie deep down. Aurora made a mental note to talk to her more.

As Jaiden rambled on Aurora giggled, placing a hand on Jaiden’s shoulder in a friendly β€˜I know what you mean’ sort of fashion but also eased a bit of comfort her way through touch. β€œThank you! You look great too as always” Rory could sense the crowd was making Jaiden a little nervous and decided to divert to a more comfortable topic. β€œHave you seen any of the others? Alex told me he was dressing creepy” She rolled her eyes slightly. β€œI tried to get him to be a sunflower, but he wouldn’t budge. Can you imagine how great that would’ve been? I had my Gardner outfit all planned out”.

Cas was glancing at some Talismans from a Shaman’s small booth when he heard his name being called. He froze in place, his face blushing a faint rose as he recognized the voice instantly. Cas turned slowly hoping - praying that the voice didn’t belong to Phoenix and he was simply just hearing things. Shit. As he locked eyes with the witch he felt a mix of instant regret and something else - excitement? No, that couldn’t really be right. Phoenix was standing next to another man, one he recognized faintly from the cafe the first time he had ever walked in. Cas had seen him around a few times since then, but never stopped to chat. He found that he subconsciously walking towards the two, a charming smile on his face. Talking to Phoenix would most likely make leaving in the morning much more complicated. He hadn’t planned on telling anyone, his stay was getting suspicious nonetheless. Not to mention he knew he was getting way too attached to the people in this town.

As he got closer to the two, he began to make out their costumes. A- Al, Alex. Alex. That was it, was wearing some morbid plague doctor get-up which frankly matched the dark cloud that Cas always felt surrounded him. He then turned to Phoenix his smile faltering slightly as he looked at the midnight black wings attached to his back. Cas shoved his hands in his pockets to keep them from shaking as he felt his face pale. Of course, of course this would happen. He cursed the heavens in his mind as he coughed slightly to break the awkward tension, the smile reappearing on his face. β€œSorry, I think there was definitely something else in that Apple Cider” His laugh was curt and a bit strained. Cas turned quickly to Alex thinking about offering a hand to shake but decided against it. β€œI don’t think we’ve been properly introduced I’m Cas Davis. I’m sure you might know me as the man who has been buying up all of Woods’s jams” He nodded in Phoenix’s direction with a slight wink.
