Hayden was one of the first into the bar that evening. The bartender was sympathetic to their cause, and kept one of the back rooms set aside for them. They spent enough time and money there... especially Hayden. He'd already had a drink- singular, surprisingly- by the time the bartender signalled to him that there was somebody asking for them. Hayden rolled his eyes, ordered another drink, and headed into the back room. It was small, just big enough for the whole team and a few clients. He sent out a text to their group chat.

To: Say Anything
yo, got a client. in the back room whenever y'alls get here.

Only a few seconds later, Alexa walked in, unusually dressed up. Hayden just raised an eyebrow. "New boss at work, wants to smarten the place up a bit. Which apparently includes enforcing the dress code in the IT department. I hate it," she said, pulling out a seat and dropping into it. She immediately kicked off her shoes. "Where's our guy?" She asked. Hayden shrugged. "Finishing his drink, apparently. I didn't think we were that intimidating but I guess I was wrong," he said with a smirk.

They fell into a comfortable silence then as Alexa pulled her laptop out of her bag and started setting herself up. Her laptop came everywhere with her. She had a dedicated computer for work, but her laptop still came to work with her. She wasn't going to risk leaving it alone in her apartment- and besides, a lot of days she checked in here after work. And if she was here, she needed her laptop. Usually, she would have also been ready to go out on the streets, but she hadn't had time to grab a change of clothes, so there was no way she was going front line tonight.

There was a tentative knock on the door. Alexa and Hayden looked at each other, before Alexa called, "Come in!" A man entered- definitely not their usual client. Late forties, early fifties, salt and pepper hair, a tailored suit that put the dress-code in Alexa's office to shame. He looked rich. Rich enough to be able to afford the bribes the police required, which put both of them on edge.

"Is this it?" The man asked on entering. Alexa and Hayden raised an eyebrow, nearly in sync. "Yes. This is the entirety of Say Anything. We do everything. Just the two of us." Hayden drawled, folding his arms. "Everyone else is on their way. Sit. We'll talk when they get here." Alexa said.

Leather jacket, jeans with a tan belt, and a pair of boots. The mannequin looked that good, for only $99.99, according to a large poster in the window of a clothing store. Hunter shook his head and muttered about how the outfit was "for rich assholes anyway," while he leant against the scratched wall of a departent store and removed his phone.
Say Anything
yo, got a client. in the back room whenever y'alls get here.

Hunter didn't reply, knowing well about the many dangers of announcing your location or time over a remote connection. Security was an illusion in his opinion, no matter what Alexa said about the chat being a "closed network", whatever that meant.

He stuffed it back into his beige jacket, then set off at a brisk pace through the store, past chattering crowds of carefree teenagers with branded bags, feeling as bored as he looked. Eventually, a set of double doors allowed him to exit into a breeze, the bottom of his clothes rippling in the bursts of wind that passed. A layer of car exhausts followed him around like a ghost that reminded him- people were everywhere, and they had eyes, cameras, and phones.

An unremarkable drinking establishment. Every time, he thought to himself- what kind of cliche meeting place is a bar? Great place for police to just hang out by coincidence.
Barman nodded. He nodded back, though it felt stupid afterwards, and stepped into the back room, closing the door behind him with a click. Alexa's face was lit up by her trademark laptop. He didn't bother speaking, preferring to look over the client first.

Loraine McNeal

Hex Code- #9400D3 ~ Code Name- Dove

The night could be one's greatest ally or biggest foe, depending on how you used it. For Loraine it was a tool that she simply used. The day time could be just as deceptive though and once upon a time Loraine thought she could live in the light peacefully. Wow was she ever foolish the think that. Now she had nothing but the night and the shadows she often cast. At the moment she was pretending to be an average citizen though by working on college homework. Compared to her other activities though this was a cake walk. So far college work was the easiest thing in her life. She had just finished her work when her cell went off, signalling a text message.

Picking it up, she saw it was from her roommate Hayden.

To: Say Anything
yo, got a client. in the back room whenever y'alls get here.

Talk about perfect timing. Of course she already knew Hayden going out and meeting a client. Currently she was in their shared apartment. It was small but big enough for the two of them. With the cost of apartment living high in this city, it was just more practical to live together. Even though Loraine had a lot of money in her secret bank account, a bulk of it was going towards college and she didn't want to leave any hints that she was richer then most; hence, the reason she moved in with Hayden. Another reason for moving in with him was because she needed one ally in this city and since she already knew Hayden, it just made sense. If she was honest with herself though, she wished she wasn't living with him now because she was terrified of him getting hurt or that she might hurt him or he could possibly hurt her too. She saw he was just as broken as she was. The little girl who used to laugh and play was long gone and all that was left was a shattered heart with ice to protect what was left.

Not thinking about her circumstances anymore, she text Hayden back.

To: Hayden
On my way.

And with that, she put her phone silencer and she changed clothes. She couldn't very well go out in her casual clothing. Also she always changed her appearance for clients. Dressing like she was a bar regular, she makes sure to hide her blonde hair in a cowboy hat with just a few wisps showing. She also puts in different color contact lenses to turn her eyes dark brown. Putting her phone on silence and making sure the room is secure, she locks the front door before leaving the building.

She makes her way to the bar the back way, sticking with the shadows. It helped that the colors she wore were dark in coloring. She finally makes it and heads in, nodding to the bar tender in acknowledgement before heading in to the back room. Seeing that the client, Alexa, and Hunter were there, she doesn't say anything, her blank look in place. She goes to the corner and stands folding her arms. She didn't feel entirely safe sitting down in an enclosed space. Better to stand up and be ready. Being a spy for the group, she was also very lethal when she had to be. She actually carried a few weapons on her at the moment, one a knife inside of her boot and the other a handgun with a silencer in her jacket. She was a dead eye with that weapon. Standing there she waited for the others, seemingly not paying attention to the others, although the others in the group there knew she was aware of everything.

Sofia pushed her glasses back onto the top of her head. The bar was quiet enough. A few regulars with more time than money occupied tables while the radio played quietly in the background. Besides the terrible din that passed for mainstream music these days, the only sound in the bar was the occasional dull thud of a glass on a wooden table top. She wrung her cloth out over the sink and wiped down the countertop. It was an old bar, evident by the patrons, more so by the state of the bar itself. The varnish was chipped and worn away. Grafitti from years gone by adorned it. Sofia wasn't even sure if half the names belonged to living people anymore.

Curtis rose from his seat. Automatically, Sofia reached for another glass and filled it with his poison of choice. He never left before she did, which led to her taking a longer route home more than once. "Tryna get me drunk?"

"Trying to make rent, sugar. The more you drink, the more I get."

"That don't seem like much incentive to keep drinking," he grumbled.

Sofia smiled sweetly although her skin prickled at the comment. "I'll be able to afford a new dress. Maybe then you'll whisk me away from all this," she said, marking off his drink on his tab. Curtis chuckled and headed back to his seat, glass in hand. Just then, her phone buzzed and she slipped it from her pocket to see the group message. "CY?"

Cy, all 5'4" appeared of him, appeared around the door to the stockroom. He was a kind man, and Sofia was always going to keep trouble away from his door. "I need to head off. Will you be ok a while?" Sofia and Cy had known each other long enough to know why she would need to get away. He nodded and looped his cloth through his belt loop while Sofia hanged hers behind the bar and headed out, saying bye to the patrons before the door closed behind her.

Sofia looped around the back of the building and out onto the opposite street. It was fortunate that her work was close enough to the meeting point that she didn't need much notice to get there if she was at work. It was still a solid ten-minute walk on a good day, but it was close enough. She strolled in through the back door to the room they usually used. People tended to remember seeing a girl with vibrant red hair. Rather than sitting, she leaned against a table where she had the full view of the room. A few of them had already arrived, and Sofia nodded to them. She looked at the client and over to Hayden. This guy wasn't their usual client, anyone could see that. He was the type the police tripped over themselves to help. She raised an eyebrow at her friend, waiting for an explanation.

A musty smell hung in the air, and there was a layer of grime on the surface of the counter. Will looked through the glass display case, his eyes fluttering over numerous small knives, brass knuckles, and other small tools and weapons. This small pawn shop, tucked away in a neat little corner in a not so great part of town may not have the best reputation for cleanliness but the store was just a block away from Will's modest apartment, and the selection of items was often much better than the store's hygiene.

As he scanned the display cases not finding anything that spoke to him his eyes eventually stopped upon a small pocket knife. Sleek, but simple, small but more than enough to change the tide of a losing fight, and just the right size for hiding on his person. This was the one. Will smiled as he pointed towards the blade placing both his money and an ugly mask, red like blood with an obnoxiously long nose onto the counter. He hadn't come in here intending to buy another mask but this one seemed to speak to him with it's vibrant color, and wicked, almost mischievous expression. Will hurridly payed for the items, placing the knife in his pocket, and soon began his short walk back home.

As if on cue, his phone chimed off the moment he exited the shop, and Will stared at it with wide grin. Finally there was something fun to do. Will sent a horde of devil faced emojis, and almost sprinted home. ONce there in his little slice of the city, he grabbed his precious girl Lorelei, a simple but effective taser, slipping her into his pocket and walked to the back wall, a veritable treasure trove of masks of all kinds, different shapes and sizes. He placed his new mask down on the couch, he'd find a place for it later. Right in the center of the wall sat a pure white mask with a genuine but somehow unsettling smile. He snatched the mask from the wall and swiftly made his way to the meeting place.

The walk from his apartment to the meeting place took only about fifteen minutes. Once he arrived he made his way toward the back door. Donning his mask he stared at the door. "Showtime!" He exclaimed as he swung the door open and glanced at the others, everyone seemed to be here he noticed. His eyes finally landed on a man in an overly fancy suit. No doubt the client, and apparently one with deep pockets. "Greetings all! Nice Guy is here! Which hopefully means we can get this party started!"

Hayden watched as the rest entered. Nobody really acknowledged him, with the exception of Loraine. She just raised an eyebrow at him, and he shrugged. He didn’t know what was going on with this guy either, other than he hadn’t looked up from his phone since he’d come in. Alexa stayed typing away- making sure their communication channels were as secure as possible was a continuing effort on her part. It was already pretty secure, but she wanted to get it to an unbreakable point. She knew that Hunter didn’t trust it. She doubted she’d be ever able to talk him round, but it was worth a try.

And when Wilbur entered in typical dramatic fashion, it nearly seemed to confirm that everyone that was going to show up had already showed up. Some had disguised their identity. Hayden never saw the need to. He cleared his throat.

“I’m gonna assume that everybody that’s coming is here now. So. Few ground rules. We expect half payment up front, half when the job’s done. Don’t even think of trying to turn us over to the cops. We’ve got allies everywhere, and if we go down, they’ll be able to track you down and make you wish you’d never even heard of us. We don’t particularly like murder but can be talked around if it’s particularly bad. We won’t ask for your name, so don’t expect us to give you any of ours. We work in code names only.” It was all second nature now, the rules that every client needed to know. Some weren’t happy with them and just walked out, which suited them just fine. “So. Tell us what you need us to do.”

My former business partner fucked me over. He stole money from the company, stole my ideas, then disappeared and set up his own company which is making far more money than we ever did together. He’s paid off the police and is pretty damn invincible. He’s in private security. So I want you guys to get my revenge and also to dirty his company a little. Show his private security isn’t actually that good, if a bunch of vigilantes can get past it. Don’t care what you do. Just leave him alive. I’m giving you guys complete freedom. And I’m willing to pay you all five thousand dollars. Each. If you do a decent job.”

Hayden had to try particularly hard not to raise his eyebrows. That was... a significant amount of money. Would pay his rent for a while. Most they’d been paid for a job for a while. It wasn’t going to be easy. But for that money...

“They do cyber security?” Alexa asked, leaning back in her seat a little and eyeing him over her laptop. “Yes,” The man replied. “I can break into it. His own personal systems use it, I’m guessing?” She asked, and the man nodded. “Yes. He claims it’s unhackable,” he replied, and Alexa grinned. She loved taking down people like this. “He hasn’t encountered me yet.”

Hayden stayed silent for a moment, letting the others ask any questions they wanted as he thought.

Hunter's dark eyes flitted between people entering- the wonderfully inconspicous Loraine in a hat large enough to throw as a frisbee or alternatively attract a rancher- a curtain of scarlet hair, and "Mr Nice Guy," to which the silent figure couldn't help but smile at, before straightening his face to speak.

Then came the offer. Five thousand dollars. Two and a half thousand, if the guy agreed to bring that first before they began work. Enough to get him out of working with Say Anything, and into some "legitimate" jobs. Maybe enough for fancy clothes, he could get back into education. Complete freedom here could mean more than just the weapons of choice.

"I'll want to go through your contacts and copy any documents you have regarding the business. Accountancy records might help," he requested.

He considered their options piece-by-piece in his mind- journalists getting their hands on any foul smelling dirt would be a convienent diversion (liberal writers would love to shame an aggressive institution such as private security). On the other hand, maybe the rest of the group wanted to do this completely quietly, with as little warning to the company as possible. Hell, maybe Lionel "Rich"ie had something to hide himself.

Something was off. Nothing was ever simple, but this seemed just a slight more shady than the usual scandal or beating. Was that intentional? Big case, wants his partner fucked, good timing for the police to come in and arrest them while they're spread out.
Guantanomo Bay was not an ideal location to spend his hard earned money.

The man before them was clearly rich but when the offer was spoken aloud it hit Will just how rich the man really was. His eyes went wide and his mouth hung open wide for a few moments. Thankfully his awestruck countenance was hidden away by the signiture smile he wore on his face. He threw his arms up into the air and let out a joyous laugh all the while being sure to stare the man in the eyes.

"Five thousand dollars? Each! Holy shit Mr. Moneybags you really do have deep pockets don't you! And there are no rules, so I can do whatever I want! I could almost kiss you. This job sounds like the holy grail and it's gonna be fun as hell to boot! Count me in!" Excitement washed over him like a surge of electricity. Perhaps he was getting too excited but he didn't care. Possibilities raced through his mind of all the decadent things he could spend that money on. Men, booze, drugs, even a brand new gaming system or maybe even two, and somewhere at the tail end for just a brief flash his rent . Yeah rent, if he had enough left over at least.

As he was dancing in excitement he stopped abruptly and stared right at the client. The laughter stop and what could be seen of his eyes gained a hard sort of glimmer. His mouth curled up into a cruel grin as his whole demeanor shifted in a flash. He wondered briefly, with a small amount of hope towards the positive if he at all frightened the client. Will knew he sometimes had that effect on people in fact he counted on it, groomed it even with his overly theatrical antics and stark white mask there was more than a slight air of unsettling intimidation wafting around Will. Of course it wasn't always a sound business strategy, he saw more than one client get cold feet after watching his behavior but the people who came to them were desperate. Always. With no exception, even Mr. Moneybags here. Desperate enough to overlook Will's less than satisfactory actions.

"I just have one question. This is a lot of money. So can I assume that we'll be going up aganist a small army or something? I mean it's always the more dangerous jobs that have this kind of pay out not that i'm complaining mind you. I mean I'll go up against just about anything so long as it gets my blood pumping. I just want to know exactly what we're getting into here."

After the others came in, Loraine simply maintain her position standing against the wall. And when the client started talking, her concentration remanded on the doors to the room. However, her ears were fully listening to the man. Immediately she knew this task was not going to be easy. Personally she didn't need the money, well, most of it. All the money she got doing her job in Say Anything either went to rent, the tools she used for her job, or charity. She may be a vigilante, but her parents raised her to give back. So a good 60% of the money she attained went towards a charity that allowed anonymous donations and it was towards the victims of sexual abuse. Ironically the person who ran that charity was a cousin of hers on her mother's size. Her mom's family was small and her maternal grandparents had died naturally before she was even born. She didn't even bother trying to contact her few remaining blood relatives due to the fact that she didn't want to risk their safety.

After the man finished talking, Loraine thought about the job. It sounded too good to be true. Her mind immediately started speculating if this man was legit. She knew very well they had foes and with their reputation growing it wouldn't surprise her if their foes would start sending out lures to catch them. Others thought of precautions too. She knew that Alexa would do a thorough background check on the guy, as well as hack his phone too. There was one more thing Loraine could do though Seeing Wilbur question the guy, Loraine took this opportunity to place a bug on the client. There was a reason why she always stood at the same location in the room, it was always in the blindspot of a client. Silently and casually, she walked towards the man as she walked passed him, she dropped a tiny bug into his coat pocket and was back in her standing position in seconds. When it came to her safety and the others, Loraine never took any chances.

Alexa was already typing away to herself. The man wasn't even looking at her, he either hadn't noticed or didn't care. His phone was difficult to get into, but if he did have experience in private security, that was to be expected. It still wasn't enough to keep her out, though. She wasn't foolish enough to keep digging while he was standing right there, though, so she instead just made a copy of the files and saved them to an encrypted file on her laptop. Anything like this was encrypted as standard, and she was one of the few people who could open it again.

"When would you want us to get started? We can start tonight if you'd like," Hayden asked. "No. Not tonight," The man replied. Hayden didn't miss the man's look at the drink in front of Hayden. Hayden raised an eyebrow and downed the drink in one, hardly breaking eye contact with the man. He hadn't noticed Loraine moving to slip something into his pocket, and it was the perfect opportunity to distract him. They never trusted their clients that much, and definitely not the ones who stank of money to the same extent that this guy did. "Br- My business partner is out of town this evening. He has a large event on tomorrow evening, might be a good chance for you to get yourselves in undercover." Hayden's gaze sharpened. "We'll be the ones deciding how we get in and out, thank you very much," he said, barely keeping his manners intact.

"Of course, I didn't mean-" The man started, but Alexa cut him off. "Just send write down here where you need us to be and at what time tomorrow. We'll do the rest." She ordered, producing a blank notepad from her bag and sliding it across from him. When he handed it back, she tore it out and handed the page to Hayden, before scribbling down some bank details and sliding the page over to him. "There's where we want the money sent to. We don't do anything before we get the money. We send you proof when we're done. Deal?" They preferred to work in cash as a general rule, but when it came to this much money, it wasn't worth risking it. She'd make sure everyone got their individual portions. "Deal." "Nice doing business with you." Even if her tone was polite, it communicated in no uncertain terms that the meeting was over.

Once the man had left, she exhaled and reopened her laptop. "So. What did everyone think of that? Of him?" Hayden asked.

A dinner party huh? Loraine was already thinking of what she could do there, but knew the ultimate decision on her role would be from Hayden and Alexa. Both knew enough about her to know what her strengths were when it came to the group. Of course Hayden knew her best compared to the others. She was honestly surprised when she ran into him accidentally when she moved here. If there was anyone who know what she went through, it was him. Ironic how both of them changed from being outgoing and good kids to the shattered adults they were now. To her understanding, the others did have their own troubles and a few had even lost loved ones, but none had lost their entire families like she and Hayden did.

It wasn't long before the client left and Hayden asked them all what they thought. Loraine spoke up first.

"If the man was lying he was doing a damn good job of doing it. He was definitely made of money too."

Loraine spoke in a stoic voice that held no emotion. She was how she acted in front of the group and only spoke when she needed to, like right now. She was also always brief and to the point. In 24 hours though she could have a complete turnaround and act like the most charming and outgoing person. Here though she didn't want to pretend to be someone else. However even now she wasn't her true self, simply because she didn't know who she was anymore, and she hated that. She hated what she had become. She still had nightmares and a few times found herself crying in her sleep. If only she could turn back time and change things. But that was impossible. You could never bring back the dead.

Will studied the man has he left, looking him over watching his expressions. He had a smile on his face born of excitement and anticipation. Once the man had finally left and Hayden opened his mouth Will took off his mask exposing his grin for all too see, as he scanned the faces of his friends. "What do I think? Well like I said this job sounds like the holy grail. Plenty of money and it sounds fun. Probably going to be dangerous so we better come up with a halfway decent plan though."

As he spoke Will took out his new knife and started fiddling with it, playing with the blade and lightly tossing it into the air only to catch it again every single time."As for the man himself I don't know if I'd say I trust him but he's obviously desperate that much was obvious. I don't trust him but I certainly trust in Alexa and even Lorraine to figure out if this guys legit or not."

He tossed both girls a smile. Towards Alexa his smile was wide and genuine. Will did trust in her skills, if someone had a dirty secret she could and would find it he knew that much. When he smiled at Lorraine however the gesture was still real, but the smile itself was sleek and sly, fit for a cat. Or a knife. Will hadn't missed the bug she so subtly placed on the man. Hand it to the liar to slip something like that right under someone's oblivious nose. The bug would obviously come in handy but even still that didn't mean he had to like it.

"And hey if he's not. Maybe you'll all let me go and teach him a lesson huh? After all I am a great teacher." He laughed at that, as he threw his arms behind his head, and stretched in a lazy manner.
