Conan Reeves

"I've lost my life once...I stand before you now but only as a ghost."

0 · 49 views · located in 19th Century America.

a character in “Silver Chronicles: The Dark West”, originally authored by Seveneleven, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Conan is a man of average height say 6"-6-1". His actual face has not been seen for some years and the only one to remember it's features(or what was left of it) is Dr. Barkus. From what he describes as a white male, with a kind of cloudy blue eyes and dark hair. His nose was a bit small and he had a prominent chin that gave him a rugged outdoorsman feel. As of now his entire head is covered in a mask of his making that is connected to the breathing apparatus he invented. He wears black clothing with the exception of a white tie, vest and gloves of the same color. It should also be noted his mask is also white.

He also wears a black duster coat.

Personality

Conan is silent for the most part. Sure he speaks, it's not like he's a mute but since the time of his near death experience, well he hasn't found himself quite as talkative as before. Perhaps it's the fact his throat was damn near ripped out, but he has become much more aloof. He is known to be a devoted member of Silver and is very serious about hunting monsters. When he does speak it's very mechanical, it's what a train might sound like if it could talk. Hollow, resonate, and it is capped off with a trailing echo. Sounds of what many think to be steam could be heard every time Conan breathes.

When Conan speaks his character can be described as cold, tough, gruff, and a bit unnerving. He often speaks of death and life as if they are the same thing. He cares not about whether he lives today or dies tomorrow, he only cares about the task at hand. You could say he's a workaholic but I think of it as driven. The only thing he goes on to live for is the kill. He is also very reclusive and doesn't like to speak of his life before the incident, and sometimes acts a bit aggressive if pushed, leaving the outside of his norm for a few moments. Towards any fellow member he is protective and cooperative, while his speech or body movements might say otherwise. He does favor solo acts but is appreciative of hunting parties as well. When on the job he does prefer to take the proactive approach and figures striking them first is the operative move. Fearless he will approach any task unafraid, and is known to throw himself into the thick of things. This may seem brash and careless but one, he is a calculating individual, and sets himself to a methodical pace in the middle of a chaotic situation, and two he doesn't fear dying as he feels he's already dead.

Equipment

-Twin Colt .45 Revolvers
-Mask and breathing apparatus

History

Conan Reeves was once a frontiersman. Settling with his family on the vast plains of the Wild West as he apt to make a name for himself in the burgeoning town of Luke's Rest. He and his family lived out of the town but was not but a few miles from it. Often Conan and his son would enter town with their catch from the nearby forestry. Conan was an excellent hunter and precise with a rifle. At the time he was teaching his son the ropes. What made Conan such a great hunter was his uncanny ability to walk about quietly nearly silently. With such a light step Conan could creep up on any animal and shoot them dead before they noticed his presence. This greatly impressed his son as he even crept up on creatures with even the most sensitive of hearing. Conan often tried to teach his son this ability but he lacked the refined skills and grace his father possessed. Almost like a cat Conan was, stalking it's prey.

After a day of hunting the pickings were rather slim as most animals they tracked down were merely remains. Something else had been hunting and was quite voracious whatever it was. Only bringing home some hares they decided to call it a night but unfortunately the hunt followed them home that night. As Conan and his boy arrived something was scratching the door and before he could open it, there came the most sinister snarl he ever heard. Conan reached for his rifle only to be met with a broken door and a fearsome beast. It looked like a wolf but greatly larger and more fierce, as it took it's razor sharp claws and scratched open Conan's face. Forced to the ground the rifle slid near his son Jeremiah, and Conan rolled over on the floor screaming in pain. As the werewolf went for the kill, Jeremiah shot the beast in the back. While it might have stopped a normal wolf the bullet did little to stop it. It let out a howl in pain but it made it more angry than in anything else. Enraged it went straight for Jeremiah. His mother quickly stepped in to only be quickly struck down. She was killed by the beasts claws stabbing her right through the chest.

Tossing her aside like a sack of potatoes the werewolf could only think of killing the boy. Charging in with a knife he used for skinning, Conan stabbed the fearsome beast. Letting loose another howl it knocked Conan aside and made a swipe at his throat. The claws sliced right through his jugular and nearly ripped out his throat, thanks to the hooked design of it's claws. Falling to the ground choking on his own blood he was helpless as the werewolf turned to Jeremiah. Before the werewolf could kill the hunting party arrived and began to fire. In quick move the werewolf grasped Jeremiah and used him as a hostage. Stopping the party in it's tracks for a moment the wolf launched itself through the window taking the boy with him. Quickly coming to the aid of Conan, one of them tried to stop the bleeding. Seeing him as a lost cause they were about to leave him before Doctor Adrian Barkus spoke. "No take him!" "I have an idea." The doctor spoke serving as a field medic at the time. They took Conan while they split up to chase down the werewolf.

Conan was passed out for several days and while the process tedious, Barkus managed to salvage what was left of Conan and brought him from death's clutches. Conan was attached to a piece of machinery that was designed to help him breathe. The air goes directly down his throat instead of through his mouth now. A metal brace was placed to not only cover the wound but was connected to the machine. His face was covered in bandages at the time for the cut across his face. Conan was unaware of where he was or what was going on but Barkus explained as best he could. All of the information was too much for Conan at the time but he was soon forced to accept reality. Conan was hooked up to a chair for sometime as he awaited news on his son. Weeks passed and no word, they assumed the worst. Eventually the werewolf that had alluded the party for so long was found near it's den. It was gunned down and the den searched. Only remains could be found. Upon hearing this Conan snapped and pleaded for death or to be released. Not wanting him to die, Barkus offered him an alternative.

Barkus spoke of Silver and extended an invitation to join their ranks. He also developed a mobile apparatus allowing Conan to move beyond the room and go out in the field. Conan wasn't interested in hunting monsters at first but seeing as his life is hypothetically over, he decided to take a new lease on life. Attached to a new machine, much smaller than the other but works much better, he was complimented with a white mask. He didn't want the mask but seeing the wounds on his face, and the mask's usefulness in getting air directly through his mouth he donned it. It's new design was able to get air though the mouth instead of the throat since it healed up nicely. Unfortunately there was permanent interior damage and he cannot remove the mask for a long period time as he would suffocate. Conan then proceeded to training. His hunting skills were put to the test in hunting this new prey ,but he was taught to be much faster and much more deadlier to hunt the creatures they hunted. Conan became an effective marksman and gunman and became known for his speed and subtlety. While not a veteran member he has earned a name for himself and has been given the moniker of "Ghost". Mainly for his way of sneaking up on people with out them knowing and killing them before they noticed. It also attributed to the white clothing he wore as well.
