Introduction
Beast in your belly, you gotta let it breathe,
Sing, oh, sing for me.
Beast in your belly, Lord, you gotta let it breathe.'
Repentance, a small town in the very depths of the american bible belt. Set down in a very rural location, miles from any other, and not too close to many points of great interest the folks that live there are not much used to new faces. From time to time hikers might appear from the trails up in the wooded hills and descend down to stay at the one hotel in Repentance, but quickly moved on to bigger, brighter locales.
Time moved slowly. People knew each other...and often each other's business. They prided themselves on being a tight-knit caring community, as well as a christian one. Church was rigidly observed through the majority of the population, leaving it much a ghost town on Sundays as nearly every citizen ended up in the local church, recently taken over by a new pastor. Non-christians were in a great minority.
It was, the end of September, and Repentance was experiencing an unseasonable heatwave that showed no sign of letting up. The sun was hot, the grass was yellowed, people beginning to suffer from an intense burst of heat that had escaped the confines of Summer. It was in the midst of this strange, dense heatwave, that something began to take place on one of the hills above town that started the towns' rumor mills running.
Someone had moved into the old Whateley House on The Old Road.
It had once been quite an impressive property, but had fallen into neglect, not having had owners in years. The previous man of the house, old man Whateley, had expired in suspicious circumstances, leading the house to be labled by the local kids as haunted by his vengeful spirit. Of course no right thinking adult believed in that kind of childish foolishness, but still few people ventured close to the decaying building. Its positioning, a mile or so from the edge of Repentance, technically part of the town, but near no neighbours, also added to its foreboding nature.
That was until someone began to repair it, fixing up the smashed windows and patching holes in the roof. People began to realize that the house had become occupied, and immediately began to try and discover the nature of the new arrival/s.
They never seemed to see people though. When any 'welcoming neighbours' sought to call round, bearing gifts of ornaments or baked goods, they were met with a stony silence from the door and shuttered windows. The visits continued over a couple of weeks to try and glimpse the people, but to little avail. Sometimes people reported seeing a kid running for the back door, or the curtains shifting slightly as if they were watched, but little else.
Then one day the skeleton way put up.
Nailed above the door, the bones of an animal, a ram or a billy goat it was thought, its bones painted with something inky black that dripped onto the pannelling.
People were unnerved, and the visits trailed off, no longer wishing to involve themselves in the inhabitants of the Whateley place.
Still, eventually a time came when it would be impossible for those holed up in the house to remain isolated, and they would begin to make contact with the town...but there was a good reason for their reluctance.
Those in the house were cursed.
Each of the inhabitants of the old house came together because they are inhabited by demons, and the influence compels them to do...terrible things. This group dwell together, learn about the occult, putting up wards and spells, hoping to stave off the influence of the beasts and keep one another on the straight and narrow, as well as avoid detection in society. Some have better control over the terrible urges and the voices that speak to them in their dreams, some are always on the verge of slipping into dark deeds.
This strange 'family' have travelled from place to place, working odd jobs, struggling for money, trying to remain anonymous. Repentance was, to them, simply another in a string of destinations... but it was going to prove to be a fateful one, both to this group of misfits, and to the townsfolk. As the demons become greater in their malice and ability, they may either spell the end for Repentance...or Repentance might be the end for them.
Roles
The Female Police Officer (Lyda Fox)
A native of the area since birth, a compassionate and somewhat idealistic woman who's taken to finding out about the new arrivals.
The Male Police Officer (OPEN)
The Female Police Officer's work partner. Perhaps somewhat less idealistic in outlook. They may not always match up on their principles, however he is still a good and reliable man.
The Doctor (RESERVED)
The town's only qualified physician, they know most all the stories. An individual who puts their faith in the concrete more than the spiritual, there are times when their views clash with others in the town.
The Pastor (OPEN)
Newly arrived to take the post in the town, the Pastor is optimistic and inexperienced, hoping to change the world and save souls. They had no idea what would show up in town.
The Psychic (TAKEN)
Since a childhood illness almost claimed their life, they had been able to see things that others cannot. Sometimes thought to be mad, they keep seeing signs that something terrible has come to town, but few taken them seriously.
The Rebel (TAKEN)
An odd one among the townspeople, they despise the place. Cannot stand the town and has rejected the religion that most people embrace. To them, they would be happy enough to see the town and its outdated values burn.
The First (TAKEN)
The oldest of the group, an adult, and the figure who tends to have the final word on things in the household. They have the greatest control over their demon, though it can still manifest as a terrible, destructive temper that means that his peers sometimes fear him.
The Second (TAKEN)
An expert in the paranormal, she is the second oldest and is something of the 'mom' of the 'family'. She is responsible for many of the wards and rituals, and works to try and lift the curses upon them. Highly intelligent.
The Third (RESERVED)
The third oldest, Third is something of a hedonist, someone who likes drink, drugs and women. An awful womanizer, they have a merit of being more outgoing than most, though this has its downsides.
The Fourth (TAKEN)
Fourth member and third youngest of the inhabitants, four is highly introspective and probably the quietest of the group. Often they tend to be quite unmotivated, accused of being lazy. She is in fact quite capable, when she can be bothered to act, but would generally prefer to be watching TV or reading.
The Fifth (TAKEN)
The second youngest of the group, an individual that is consumed with resentment for others. Childishly spiteful and often inappropriate, she struggles to keep vicious impulses at bay, but can usually keep control of herself. She feels a degree of closeness to the Sixth however and usually hangs around with this other younger member.
The Sixth (TAKEN)
The youngest in his teenager years, most recently adopted of the group and one of the least controlled, he is rarely allowed outside of the house, generally being locked away in the house, as he's considered a danger to both himself and to others. Almost animalistic he feels a closeness to the others due to their demonic aura, but is compelled to kill, and has in the past. The least powerful of the arrivals, but potentially the most dangerous.

I would absolutely love to reserve The Third.

And accepted Woolenlace, I love the character.
Hello again Wudgeous! I do remember you! I would love it if you could take the First and the Doc. Drop me a PM if you have any ideas, questions or general thoughts regarding plots and such. :3
Re: Sing: A Strange Incident in Repentance.
I'd like to discuss plots n' stuff too if you don't mind, probably via PM. :P
Edit: Might also go for Doc.

Re: Sing: A Strange Incident in Repentance.
Second choice it is then. May I reserve the Pastor?
Edit: On second thought, I don't think I could do the Pastor Character justice. I think I want to reserve the Second instead. More in line with what I've written/play in the past.
