Artemis De Lune

"If you do the crime you better do the time, otherwise I get to play."

a character in “Society of the Supernatural”, as played by angelwolfchild

Description

Name: Artemis De Lune
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Species: Werewolf
Appearance:
Human Form - Image
Standing at about 5”2”, Artemis is reasonably slender but well built and strong. Her skin is quite pale but her long curly hair is dark brown (although it is said she used to blonde), coming down to her shoulders. Her eyes are also dark brown, like her hair. She often wears a black top, denim jacket and reasonably tight black trousers, also wearing black boots.
Wolf Form – Image
When in wolf form many are surprised to see what Artemis looks like, as she is mostly white with a dusty grey spread over her body, appearing very elegant, graceful and quite beautiful. However she still have incredible strength and is particularly noted for her speed, being one of the fastest of her kind.

Personality

Personality: Artemis has always been very outgoing and confident, being brash and reckless but also funny and enjoyable company. Despite never being able to really connect she is genuinely likeable and, despite her recklessness she is quite intelligent. Unfortunately her rage and adrenaline can get the better of her at times, making her a liability to the police at times but she always gets the job done and is quite irreplaceable. Artemis is also openly bisexual, playfully flirting with practically anybody despite never being able to find someone she’d actually want to commit to.
Likes: Running, raw meat, rock music.
Dislikes: Dog jokes, dresses, people asking about her feelings.
Fears: Being completely alone (often comes across as stress/anger)

History

Bio: Being an orphaned werewolf without so much as a name, she lost her parents at a young age and was never able to connect with another pack. She drifted between homes, focusing her loneliness and rage on becoming a powerful fighter and hunter, even taking the name Artemis from the Greek hunting goddess while her second name translated from French to ‘Of Moon’, the only thing she ever felt comfortable around. Not long after she turned 16, Artemis was sold from her latest pack to a human police officer, being trained as protection for the force and sometimes becoming an assassin for criminals. She enjoys her work and is willing to continue, though she still felt that strange feeling that she didn’t belong there.
Other: Very senstive when people ask about her pack, also has a thing for human weapons e.g. crossbows.

So begins...

There was the thud of feet pounding the pavement as Artemis ran, her speed increasing as she jumped to kick off a wall while she turned the corner.
Humans called this free running… she just called it running. Usually she wouldn’t be doing this just while on a search job, especially when it was just a vampire she was tracking, but in a day or two she’d be in heat again and she needed to relieve some excess energy.
Just like every year.
Artemis stopped just before turning a corner, sniffing the air.
She’d been following this scent for a couple of streets now, where she and the human police had caught a group of thugs trying to chase something. They’d been ranting some nonsense about a guy but it was the scent that warned her they were telling the truth. So naturally the boss wanted to check it out… rather than let her go on the drug raid they had only just planned that morning.
Artemis somehow felt she was being punished for that time she’d mauled a robbers face. But he had deserved it and it was his own fault… he shouldn’t have told her to sit and be a good doggy.
The scent hit her once more and Artemis walked around the corner, checking the badge they insisted she wore around her neck was visible.
There he was, sat in front of the school with a younger female vampire. This was human territory, no vampires or werewolves allowed on school grounds, only outside. She would need to be careful.
As Artemis walked over to the vampire, her eyes caught another werewolf looking at a cat in a tree… a male werewolf.
Nope, you’re not in heat yet so don’t get distracted. You’re in enough trouble already. She thought to herself, walking past him.
“The idea is not to let them get to the tree.” She said out loud to him while she headed towards the vampires, unable to resist a little jibe no matter how hard she tried.

Artemis had been watching the conflict with slight amusement.
She had been about to respond to the vampire when that other werewolf suddenly cut in, turning the scene into an insult war. For her the deep rooted rivalry of vampires and werewolves had left her system long ago so she didn't get that aggressive tingle most members of her kind did upon meeting the other species. In fact she was more interested in the spiff between the two guardians, that was unusual to see. They usually all took their jobs too seriously to fight.
Then she heard the pack comment.
Her eyes flicked over to see the other werewolf changing... had he been banished? Or abandoned? Like her...
Either way this kind of fighting wasn't allowed, especially near a school.
Without warning she spun around to face the werewolf in his newly changed form, holding up a hand and staring him in the eyes.
"He's not worth it." She hissed, watching him a moment before turning back to the vampire. "And as much fun as the testosterone contest is, you should both know better than to do this in this area. You're the one I wanted to talk to," She added, holding up her badge so that all the vampires could see it. "So are we going to be calm and do this here or do we need to go down to the station? Your choice."

Artemis was slightly annoyed that she was being ignored, usually the badge was enough for people to at least pay attention.
The vampire seemed too interested in one of the guardians, not something she wanted to get involved in, so she found herself looking back at the male werewolf... only to find him sat there, his ears down.
As a rule she never got emotional but there was something about him that got her a bit... maybe it was how he reacted to the pack comment or maybe it was hormones making her go funny but she wanted to shake it off.
Her attention turned back to the vampire, her voice a little more firm to try and get his attention.
"Okay mate, the sooner we get this done the sooner we can get out of each others hair... which believe me when I say I am really looking forward to that. Earlier today we caught a group of thugs trying to go after somebody. From them I got your scent... also now I think about one of them said something. I think it was 'That god damn slip of a vampire, I'm going to gut out his rotten insides with a spoon.' Sound familiar? If so, why were they after you?"
Usually she wasn't this direct, unless she had been ordered to be, but part of her really didn't like this guy and wanted to get the job finished as quick as possible, at this point she didn't even care what the answer was. Besides, she was getting disconcerted by how soft the werewolf was making her feel, even at this time of the year.

Artemis was really starting to get irritated, he had blatantly and completely ignored her this time only so he could creep on a human teenager. She knew cops didn't get any respect these days but this was just completely ridiculous.
She noticed how the werewolf reacted to his actions and grinned slightly, starting to wonder if she should have let him maul the creep. But rules were rules, and better she got in trouble than him.
Eventually she decided she'd had enough and marched over there, roughly grabbing the vampire's arm and yanking him away from the girls.
"What part of answer the question and we can get out of each others hair did you not understand?" She hissed, growling at him before looking at the female vampire. "Take your human home, and next time don't be afraid to show your teeth to a guy like this."
It was brutal but honest, she didn't like guys who acted this way around girls and she had a strange respect for the guardians, they were doing something decent and often got treated well enough for it. Besides, she was getting close to her breaking point and didn't want to cause panic near a school.
"So like I was saying, what happened with the thugs? Were they after you or were you after them?"

Jasper looked at the cop with a harsh glare. "If you were watching the chase scene, you would notice those retards were trying to kill me. But never mind that. Why do you care? I haven't done anything illegal. My boss... he's done some pretty illegal things. I'm just his information broker."
Jasper licked his fangs and sighed. He was hungry. Maybe he should've just gone home. He could've eaten and not get in trouble with the cops, or his boss...

Artemis grinned, her fangs glinting slightly.
"I told you, we found them after their little tiff with you." She hissed, about to make another snarky comment when he said his boss had done some illegal stuff. That got her attention very quickly. "Your boss, human I take it?"
This was interesting, maybe this wasn't such a waste of time after all. It wasn't unusual for criminal humans to take on supernaturals to do their dirty work, they were less easy to kill and much more efficient with the grunt work. This could be quite useful to her.
"If you ever decide he isn't a suitable employer, feel free to come tell us about him." She said softly, backing off from the vampire with a newfound sense of patient calmness. If he ever would give up his boss to the police was of no concern to her, she could work with this either way. With that she turned away, starting to walk before noticing the male werewolf again. Artemis grinned again before commenting, "Cheer up mate, at least he didn't run up a tree."
She flashed him another friendly grin before walking again, more than happy to get out of that situation. At least she got some new information out of it, this might be enough to redeem herself with her own boss.

"Give up my boss? I'd get a bad rep from that, girly." Jasper retorted in a snarky attitude. He had no respect for people with a better status. Truth was, Jasper had done a lot of illegal things. Why would he blatantly tell a cop? If Jasper didn't like his boss, he'd just walk away from him and toy with him like Jasper did with everyone else.
Jasper took a second to look at the girl. "Now if you aren't very satisfied with your boss, I'd be more than delighted to have you as a part of my team. Wouldn't that be nice? Vampire and a werewolf working together."

Artemis rolled her eyes when she heard the vampire say about them working together.
"Nice offer, but I'll stick to what I'm good at." She muttered, unable to surpress a chuckle when the werewolf retorted back to him. She couldn't help agreeing with him, so far the vampire had been a complete and utter idiot which was saying something considering some of the creeps she had brought in over the years. However the force had never really trusted vampires, they'd been reluctant enough to have her working for them.
She'd barely moved a few steps until she heard the guy's voice behind her, turning to look at him.
"If you want, I'm just going back to the station." She said, turning back and continuing to walk. "So have you got a name or do I just call you 'cat chaser'?"

Artemis laughed slightly at his comments, guys like this usually didn't do it for her but she was quite taken with him.
"Give it a day and comments like that will send me crazy," She muttered quietly to herself before saying directly to him. "The name's Artemis, Artemis De Lune."
She was surprised when he said he worked at the station, she wasn't aware of that many werewolves working there, especially considering the amount of trouble she had often got her boss into. Artemis was more than aware he had put his job on the line many times to keep her where she was.
"Usually I'm in the drugs sector, but sometimes they put me on the homocide squad. Basically I'm out on the streets most the time, chasing down guys like that idiot we just left behind. How about you?"

"I heard about him. Copycat killers always annoy me, they just can't be bothered to think of their own methods." Artemis responded.
When he said he worked with the Chief that explained why she didn't know him, she herself had never really spoken to the Chief... but her boss had. In fact most of his spare time was in that office pleading her case and his own.
"At least you had a pack to begin with." She muttered. "If you work with the Chief you may well have met my boss before, Detective Stone? He's been called in too many times for me to count so that he can explain things to the Chief... more than often about my behavior."

Artemis didn't look at him straight away.
"I don't like people making those kind of jokes, it's specism." She muttered. "Besides, you can't tell me you've never had crap like that from the humans?"
She sighed slightly, starting to feel a slight burning in her skin. That time was getting closer, she needed to keep talking to take her mind away from it otherwise things would get really weird between them.
"Stone's pretty cool about it, despite both our jobs being on the line he says I get the work done and sticks up for me. More than most people." She grinned. "But working with the Chief, that's pretty impressive. You must be good at what you do."

Jasper hissed and kicked around as cops shoved him around down the street. He wasn't so happy about being handcuffed. The Boss followed Jasper, also handcuffed, but he was calmer and had a knowing grin on his face.
"How could you be so calm!? Did you know this was going to happen? You asshole! You want me to rot in jail! You and your lawyers will just get you out, but I'll be stuck in jail, despite having nothing to so with your crimes." Jasper shouted at his boss. One of the officers his Jasper across the face, making him stubble down the street.
"Shut your mouth!" the officer shouted at him. Jasper looked up, blood dripping from his mouth. He saw Artemis and Danny the kids from before. Jasper was sure they'd both like to see him in jail. The whole scene amused him. He started laughing at his own misfortune as the officers pushed him down the street.
