“Oh... potassium.” Jamie stated, standing in front of the door. Had she just been hoodwinked? She thought she had. She moved her glasses over her eyes and turned to face the rest of the room, “Well hey peeps. I guess we're all in the same boat here?”

She immediately saw the donuts, “Oooh, crystalline carbs! My favorite.” Yes, she had just used the scientific term for sugar, in reference to donuts. She chuckled, picking herself up a nice glazed one. She saw there were three boxes, “Got milk?”

Jamie had essentially zonked herself out, murmuring things about different theories and what not. She was half-listening to the others, until the word 'cutie' was directed at her. She stared at the girl like she was a clown in a hooker's outfit, and then opened her mouth to say something, instead shoving a piece of donut into it and looking back down at her laser-pointing pen.

She finished her donut, and looked back at the girl, figuring out what she was gonna say. “Well, I was invited to a entirely Scientist Oriented occasion, which I doubt any of you would be interested in. I was picked up in this totally seventies van, black, and blindfolded.”

“Everything was pretty, you know, normal. Until they cuffed and gagged me, it was a little odd. I hummed the Quadratic Formula song until they took it off. They can't be that bad if they didn't just shoot me right then.” She chuckled, yeah, that song got annoying after a whole thirty or so minutes of it.

“Possibly, we're just an experiment. Big lab rats in a maze. Have to find the cheese.”

Jamie stopped chewing for a moment, why the hell didn't she think of that? She stared at him for s second, and then shook her head, resuming her chewing again. “Good 'ol crystalline carbohydrates. Just sugary frosting, my friend.” She pointed at him with her finger, the hand that was holding the donut, “On your way to some nice logic though.”

She cleared her throat and looked back at 'Strawberry', “You do realize these people probably have an intelligence quotient double yours, and you're looking for hidden things? That's a waste of energy. What happens when something comes in here and tries to eat us? Tired ones go first, I'll tell you that. Unless you have a genius plan, which I'm guessing you don't , because you are doing this.” Hooray for logical roundabouts.

She glanced over at the other girl, “Well, you know, Hansel and Gretel, witch got them fat first. Sugar will give you energy, then you have a nasty crash. And they are dehydrating us by not offering water. So really, they are doing more than you think.”

Jamie raised a brow at Strawberry, she thought “Angrigated” was a better word to describe her. She looked down at her donut and set it down, “Well, you make a good point. But, I have a laser pointing pen which can potentially blind people, as well as stab. I've got glasses, don't do much. And I have a camera. Get a nice photo of the kidnappers. And, I could program your phones to send off a ping to a satellite every five minutes when they got signals. She cleared her throat and stood up, pacing a few steps back and forth.

“By the way, I also know how to fight. So unless you're just, you know, roid-raged I doubt you've got that much on me. So excuse me miss stick-up-ass, but I think I'm pretty well-covered at this point.”

She looked over at the girl when she said 'mace'. “Another blinding tool! That's, decent. MacGayver could figure this thing out, I'm sure. We could make like, a bomb or something.”

Jamie huffed and leaned herself against the wall, calculating so many different things. The size of the room, the amount of insulation it would take to block a signal, the amount of technology it would take to block a signal. She looked at Kyle at the mention of sprinklers, “Uh. I wouldn't do that. What if they just say 'Oh, stupid rats!' and leave us in here all wet and soggy? And the contents of mace, Chlorobenzylidene Malononitrile , and  Alphachloroacetaphenone  are not highly flammable. At most you would get a 'poof' of flame. Just as much as that lighter. Or air freshner, just more burning in your eyes once the flames release it into the air.”

She began pacing again, “Also, the gum chewing will make you hungry. You will fill your stomach with oxygen, causing the expelling of gas in a room with no windows and a low-flow air conditioner. That's, genius.”

She chuckled, pointing her laser at the wall, drawing formulas and things. “You know, we should find something to do. Productive. If we work as a team, we can get along better once we're not so contained.” The estrogen in the room was overpowering, and she was not used to that. If they were gonna keep bitching, she was gonna have to start going all O'Mally Man on them.

Jamie woke up, a slight pang of a headache from leaning against the wall. She almost fell over trying to stand up, because she already was. What was she, a horse? She could see the light shining in that window still, same volume that it had been the night before. She looked at the time on her watch, it was already five in the morning. "God I'm so hungry I can smell- Oh. It is food."

She whooped, haphazardly shaking whoever was in a few steps reach. Leaning over the table and guzzlnig down a glass of orange juice, "Rise and shine prisoners, food is served. With a note, no less." She picked it up the envolope said 'Us' on it. "Are you going to sleep through me reading it or what?"

Jamie wasn't hungry at all at the moment, and that orange juice was already working wonders on her cranium pains. She slid her finger expertly through the fold of the envolope, glancing around everyone as she did, "If this thing explodes, don't kill each other over my pen." Letters entitled "us" weren't bound to carry very much good news, she began pacing reading aloud the contents-

To Our Guests,
she scoffed at that, some guests.
We understand that you all may be confused as to why you are hear. We would like to explain this an as simple a manner as possible. If you would please read the contents of this letter, you will be slightly more enlightened.

She paused again, bracing herself for whatever was coming next,
Your Stay, You will be here indefinitely, until one of two decisions is made. You will be free to roam the building as we see fit, do not attempt to leave or break anything as it will only cause you pain and a possible permamnent residence here.

Your stay will be shortened only by two choices- Choosing a group of people to kill, or sacrifice for the good of the others, or you will all be here for the rest of your natural lives- However long or short we decide to make those.
Her voice remained relatively calm, shaken, but calm as she read that last bit. They had to be joking, right?
We will speak to you further, at a later time. For now, enjoy your breakfast and feel free to look about. Signed, 'Us'.

She sank down into a chair and slumped in a defeated manner, "They want us to murder each other? Are they serious? This is rocky's freaking horror show!"

Jamie held her hands up, "Whoa, dudes. Calm, down. This is what they want, remember? This is the twenty-first century. You think that whole, turning people against each other still works?" She knew for a fact it did, because she could not help but rationalize that if and when the decision was needed, who would be the first to go. And how she could avoid being that person.

She stared at Belle, "Look, you getting all pissed isn't helping anything. And you," she looked back towards the jock, "They just said not to try to get out. So for your sake and ours, don't try and break anything. And seriously, wandering off by yourself is the best way to get dragged to hell before we know where you are."

She held the back of a chair, squeezing it to the point that the color fled from her fingers, "We need some way to communicate without being in the same room. And without making ourselves heard to who, or whatever, else is out there." She banged her hand on the chair, "You guys have phones right?" Cell signal didn't matter if you set the phones up like a home network of computers.

Jamie had the strong feeling that pretty-dude didn't like her. She couldn't give a damn less of a care, if this were another scenario, but the asshole had totally just said what she did and made it seem like she was being an idiot for saying it first. Ego-high bastard.

She took out her own phone, it was barely half-past five. What was the ruch in roaming and dying? She watched as Kyle and Belle left. A-Typical, do-it-yourself people. He'd just said they needed to 'unite' but he just took off, no plans, no nothing. She was nearly in tears now, she sort of waved off the jock and the girl that had been hitting on her. "I'm sticking in here. I'd rather be somewhere you guys can all find me if something happens, you know?"

She did have a life she wanted to get back to, did nobody see that running like ants and disobeying them was going to make things worse for that?

For some reason, being in the Twilight Zone wasn't as amusing as it seemed to be when you were outside the TV looking in. Jamie began clicking away on the keypad of her phone, she didn't care if nobody listened to her. She wasn't killing anybody, and if they voted her off the little island, then boo frickin' hoo for her. She told herself that was the best way to see her mom anyways, dying.

She exhaled and looked around the room, just in time to see Kyle walk in. She almost immediately looked back down at her phone, best way to remain neutral? Remain invisible. Its what she did best, as a nerd and all. She was surprised to hear him speak to her, needless to say, she set her phone up on the table, it looked like it was doing some sort of scan. "Independent computer analysis. I get paid to be a nerd. Program things, hack stuff, modify settings to make things do things they generally don't do."

She glanced at him, he really was too damned pretty for a guy. She couldn't see him doing much, but now was not the time to judge, was it? "What about you?"

Jamie scoffed under her breath, this was inane. She needing something to do. She moved over to the whiteboard, leaving her beeping phone to do what it had to. She was going to try and get order ehre, even if they didn't want her to. She was more scared of being plucked off by them than whatever these unkowns had in store. "The glass is a complex ion, it bends so much it won't break. They baby-proofed it so you can't just kill yourself, I assume. Like interrogation rooms, the winows don't break unless you use sever force. Suspects can't get shards to slice things with." She was more or less murmuring to herself, she got a black marker and started writing formulas on the board. Anything that would help her focus on soemthing else.
If A is the square matrix, x is an unkown vector, lambda times x is equal to the square matrix times x.
She wrote jumbles of numbers, greek letters, and all the other things she could do at this point. She could realistically solve where they were, based on the last pings from everyones cell phones. But doing that on just the cells alone was extremely difficult. I'm not letting them get to us, we're not dying, none of us are dying. She thought to herself, This is a game, a sick twisted game. Play by the rules and underhand an escape, just do what your heart says.

Jamie groaned, slamming her face against the board. "I cannot do this, right now." Oh kill kill kill, kill kill kill. Was that the only thing they knew how to say? Jeezus! They were being naive if they thought they coudl get out of this, stupid teenagers. Being thirty had its high points, and the ability to realize sometimes you had to submit to an oppressor to overcome them was one of those things.

She got her phone and walked out of the room, thankfully she never left home without her little notebook of ideas and whatnot. She looked through different rooms, finding the little resting room and the cafeteria. She figured she may as well make a log of everything they had. Then make rations, it would keep her focused and be productive.

She fetl the odd sensation of being watched when she got into the cafeteria, could be the fact that it reminded her of school, where she got those sneers from the cooler kids. Or there could've been cameras, who knew? She set her pad down in the kitchen, looking through every cabinet and writing down what she saw. The kinds of foods, the amount of it, and whether it would expire or not. It was tedious, but calming.

Jamie glanced at the girl, she was the only one who seemed realtively nice at this point. That could be because she was like-minded, or she just didn't have a knack for writing people off as controlling and all that before they got to know them. "Logic keeps me sane, if I think things out, I can clear my head and figure out other things."

So far, she thought they had a pretty nice lot of food. If they rationed it well, which she planned on, it would last a few weeks, maybe a month or so. But she wasn't going to push them to listen to her, she didn't want to just sit back and keep quiet, but if thats how it ran, thats how it ran. She went back and forth between the notebook and the cabinets, murmuring to herself and all.

"Its not going to be normal. I'm not even suggesting we act normal. That would be... inane, to say the least." She ran a hand through her hair, moving her glasses off of her face and sliding them into the pocket of her shirt. "I was saying, earlier, I coudl program the phones to just interact with each other. We wouldn't need signals, and then we could text things back and forth. They can't control that, unless they take my phone."

"And, the food, this could last a while if I- If whoever is deemed head dog, deems it so. Even with the guys getting more than the girls, since they need it." She paused and leaned against the counter opposite the girl, "As for having each other, I'm the common enemy at this point. That much is obvious to me, and if I get picked off, then so be it. But I'm not going to sit here and not help, just because people don't like me. Sitting in there, going on and on about what they are gonna do solves nothing. We need to have a game plan. They already gave us our rules."

Jamie laughed, "Yeah, as far as I know, Kyle is gonna call shots. Fuck me over if I'm going to be listening to his arrogant ass without fuming on the inside." She was just about finished with logging, which meant going back into the godawful room with that guy. She didn't not like him, really, she just didn't like they he wrote her off so quick.

She smiled, "iPhone? Now that, I can work with. These are easier to program than most, you know, thanks to apps and all. And, I can find out where we are... possibly." She remembered to keep the sensitive things on the inside, just in case they were listening.

Jamie decided to ignore the entire last bit of her monolague, she'd rather not thjink about having to endure the sounds that came along with certain skill sets. She stood up off of the counter and grabbed her pad, tucking her pen behind her ear, which turned the laser on and looked all cybor like, she loved that feature. "I'm gonna head back to... that room. You wanna walk with?" She didn't exactly wait for a reply, but she wasn't running or anything.

Jamie kept her little this-is-my-smiley-face smile paster to her lips, gave her a pleasant but not cheery-annoying look. Without her glasses she looked less, nerdy. And the fact that her hair was more fluffy helped that too. She was still writing things down, she had this whole rationing thing planned. Even if more people came, they would do fine.

She chuckled when she heard the singing, "So Train is in these days, hm? Kiddos always change their mind with music." She took a big heaving sigh before stepping into the room, ready for whatever was about to happen. She didn't want drama, and she was trying to avoid it. But if being realistic meant everyone hated her, and deemed her 'mom', that's just how that was going to be. She changed for no one.

Jamie opted to stand, offering a thanks anyways. She was slightly miffed at the fact that she had been right about Kyle being leader. Sure, he said, nobody was gonna get any one thing. But who was the one calling most of the shots? This would be like Twilight Zone, alright. And she'd be the girl that got shot in the end.

She slid him her notebook, "I made logs. Of everything we have. And, rationing for everyone, plus about seven people, assuming more are coming." She pushed herself off of the wall, "And, made note of all the covers, bedding, first aid things, all that. They actually gave us toothbrushes. Its all there, though. Use it however you see fit. I'm... gonna go, try and program these phones. Whatever you guys do is good with me."

That was her being nice. She headed out of the room and went to go program the phones like she'd said.

Networks. Everything in life revolved around networks. Cell phones were just a pain in the neck to program that way. They had to make a network out of themselves, and that Jamie didn't really mind how it worked out. She was better with as little drama and as much logic-space as possible. How she thought this little hallway fit that, she wasn't sure. She slumped down onto the floor, between the doors of the conference room and the bathroom. Messing around with the settings of Kacie's iPhone. Apps were easy enough to manipulate, and the girl seemed to have a large gallery of them.

She hummed a child's song to herself, clicking away on the kypads of all the phones, this was mildly less stressful than thinking 'oh my god we're gonna die' every two seconds. And she trusted the others wouldn't make a mess of things, they weren't babies.

Jamie was still tinkering on her phones, she had gotten relatively bored after the whole network-programming. And now she was 'playing the hell out of angry birds' as Kacie was planning on doing. The game was ridiculousy difficult, and that bugged her. She needed to win the damned thing. She was just about the beat the level when someone else was arbitrarily tossed into the building.

"Oh! New guy!" She more or less shouted this in the direction of the conference room, getting to her feet to help him with the apparently mandatory blindfold. "At least they didn't slam the door in your face..."

Jamie glanced at him, "Uhh..." She looked over at Kacie momentarily, she wouildn't let her get stuck with telling him the low-down, "Well. We suspect we are a part of some sort of sick social experiment that is seeing how certain people will respond to certain scenarios. Like being stuck ina building with strangers under the threat of death to chosen, or death to all." She heard the phones going and dinging all at once, scrambling to shut them all off.

"And, Kacie." She handed the girl back her phone, "You can now text anyone in the building for free. And, calls, but I'm not sure those will carry since there is no signal.."

Jamie was a little confused, she ruffled her hair and slid her glasses back on her face, smoothing her hangs behind her ear. "Alright, two new guys... this is, fast-paced." She moved over to the other man and held a hand on his forehand, the guy was burning up. "Are you alirght?" He obviously had asthma, he was probably just really stressed. She went through the series of breathing techniques she'd learned in all those CPR and pre-natal classes. "Just, breathe. You're perfectly fine, alright? Calm down..." She had that odd mom voice. Which she didn't know she had, but apparently she did, so at least it was hopefully helping.

She looked over at the other guy, "I'm Jamie, by the way. Jamie O'Mally." She nodded at him, looking back over at Kacie. "Could you... watch them? I'm going to go get some ice, maybe."

She let the guy go, and walked off into the kitchen, seeing Belle. "Oh, hey. We've got two new guys, one looks really fragile. I'm gonna get him some ice, are you in charge of... rations?" She just noticed her notepad, she was sort of speed walking into the kitchen, backwards, when she asked that. She turned around and walked in, grabbing a cold bottle of water. She didn't notice Anthony, in her haste. She was buzzing about getting things to feed them to keep anyone from keeling over.
