SOULCHESS

A Second Awakening

Just so some of you know – On an old account, I made this RP. I decided to bring it back revamping some things about the set up... Last time I had way too much spaces taken that really weren't being used... They get their character in but didn't have the time or perhaps didn't take the time to actually post. I'm hoping to recreate it and this time keep a steady flow of post.

—Plot--

Every hundred years, the Soul Chess begins. Soul chess is battle that takes place within an unknown city known as Gardenia. Those who are summoned take part in a battle that will determine the side who controls Gardenia for 100 years until the next. Gardenia is a floating city above the clouds. It functions normally as a city would to where during the day, it is busy but at night it dies down... especially for the battles when the destructions takes place. The council that looks over Gardenia and the battles is a tower near the city everyone can see. Know Gardenia City is indeed a city that looks as though it is modern. The city is indeed grand and could be known as a city of lights like Tokyo, Japan.

When you are summoned to the city, you have no memory of how you came to be in this world but your mind is informed of the purpose. Most of you probably died before entering the world... No one is just summoned on a whim. When you awaken in the city for the first time you do not know the opposing "pieces" but you do know which faction you are apart of by seeing the crest on your hand. This crest is only seen by your faction, no one else will know what piece you hold.

Each faction has a castle or base in which they stay at. The castles location are on opposite sides of the city. To not intimidate or stir up problems with normal civilians the castles are hidden to them. Once they apparently step foot into the castle they immediately turn around knowingly as if they shouldn't do that. However in their eyes, the border between castles is basically the edge in which they will fall to their doom.

So which faction will you fight for in this strategic battle, which role will you play? Will you win this century's soulchess or will you die trying? Perhaps even betray the faction you were given! Join now!

(Keep in mind, your character can die in this. Revival is only through RP and thats monitored)

Know, roles are not gender specific but they do have value and specific role abilties in addition to your character. Now just because you request to be certain type of role doesn't exactly mean you'll get it. The King and Queen roles are considered to be the key and core roles of this roleplay. The reasons behind this are because they can decide what role, a player is for their team or army (whatever they may consider their alliance). Perhaps you may get a role assigned to you when you submit your character and I'm not your king or queen. Your king or queen decides to suddenly change your role. This can be done. So keep updated and don't be upset if this happens because you were told.

Now know, just because you have a specific role, doesn't mean you're going to be the strongest or weakest in a way. Your "King" may be weaker then its "Queen" or even "Pawn" in some ways but stronger in others. All characters in this roleplay are balanced in power. As mentioned the only difference on your characters are basically leadership/rank and the abilities given. Now roleplay wise, Your "King" may decide to rank you by who is stronger but all of that is totally dependent on what he/she decides.

King - (Lord)

♕♚

The king role acts and is usually known to be a main leader of the faction of the battle. Like chess, If the king is killed... The faction itself loses or so has it been previous years. This role is not replacable unlike those below him/her. HOWEVER, the king can do a contract to switch roles with a chosen piece, preferably Queen.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual pressences of the other "pieces".
Augmented power - Their abilities and attributes are increased. (This does not mean the king can take on 2+ characters with this alone. Remember that relies solely on how the King can fight against the opnents)
Contract of Royalty - exchange crest with allied member of your faction.

Queen - (Lady)

♔♛

The queen acts and is known to be second in command below the king. If you were to go by a normal chess game, The queen is naturally known to be one of the strongest pieces. Part of that could be true but remember this roleplay is balanced. The queen primarily is to be a king's personal guard or loyal ally. Sometime's the queen could be mistaken to be king in some situations.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Queen Crest Augment - Their power is increased to fit the queen position. In addition, they have a boosted regeneration rate. (Doesn't mean they heal wounds immediately, think more along the lines of after a full 8 hours worth of sleeping)

Knight

♘♞

The Knight's have the ability to summon a vehicle or beast of choice to ride. They are naturally used to cover space and keep an eye out for incoming enemies.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Knight's Crest - Summons your vehicle or beast to ride.

Rook

♖♜

The role of a rook is to protected the Queen and King. Like chess, they have castling ability and can sense the danger in which a king could be in.

Sense presence - Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Castling - Use the crest's power to forcefully swap areas with the king. This can only be used when the king is truly in danger.
Detect the king - Can sense if your King is in danger.

Bishop

♗♝

A bishop in this roleplay is known to be the watcher of the group. They are stealthy and have the capabilities of having more eye range then other roles.

Sense presence- Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Surpressed Spirit- Unable to be detected by others except the Queen.
Far sight- To see with a good eye. Sometimes even the smallest details never escape them.

Pawn

♙♟

Like chess, these pieces are usually seen to be the frontline. However, they have more promotional opportunities then those above them. In addition they can obtain any crest from the enemy given that the positions aren't taken on their side. For their side they can also revive their own. (Ex. A pawn witnesses their Queen die in battle. When things are clear they decide to retrieve the queen's body and revive him or her at the castle through RP of course)

Sense presence- Can feel the spiritual presences of the other "pieces".
Contract Of Royalty- Having the contract will allow you and the king to use each other's power by request. You also have the choice to directly summon the king if not the queen by request as well if in need of assistance. Often this will give a signal to the one you want to summon by making their crest glow. Note that this can also be used at any time and not just in battle in case your character may have a bad feeling of something.
Revival - Can revive the any characters on their side with the crest of Queen and below.

Ormir + Ekuro

Gardenia: In the city - 1:15

At the young, green haired woman's (Eri Soluce) question, Ormir's attention returned to the two pieces(Eri Soluce and Kael Skye). 'Yes, I am a dragon...' she thought, giving a slow nod. However, her face quickly turned thoughtful as she realized she was in her human form here. How could the girl have.... She gave a soft chuckle, smiling as she wordlessly communicated to Ekuro, "She was talking about you, wasn't she." Ekuro gave a chuckle of his own, a deep, purring rumble in his chest, and Ormir felt his amusement at the understandable mistake.

The man also expressed his confusion, and though he spoke quietly to the woman (Eri), Ormir could still hear him clearly. He seemed to think Ekuro was too small to be a dragon, though the man was barely reached Ekuro's shoulder. Ekuro gave a short, rumbling growl at being told he was small, and Ormir quickly cut him off with a feeling of disapproval.

Suddenly, he addressed her in a rather odd manner, asking what she fed Ekuro. Ormir was confused about why he was asking. The question seemed to come out of no where and Ormir was not sure whether he was trying to be funny when he just as quickly decided he did not want her to answer this question. This man acted much different than what she normally expected of humans, and she wondered if she would be able to figure him out.

With that thought, she realized that there were two sides to this odd game of 'chess,' and she still had no idea which side these two were on. She had not even thought to find out, naively assuming they were her teammates. A slight nervousness filled her, making her pupils turn to slits (Draconian Transformation: Stage 1), and she immediately slid down to investigate, noting the hilt of a sword sheathed in the side of the saddle. Ormir never thought to just ask what pieces they were, or whether they were Plenoran. If they did turn out to be enemies, she would have to act quickly. Two against one was never good odds, so she would need the advantage of knowing and acting first.

She clasped her hands behind her as she approached to show she did not intend to harm them, yet. Getting a bit closer than one should when first meeting, she leaned forward to peer first into the man's face, then into the woman's, the light glinting in her slitted eyes as rain slid down her face, dripping from her chin and hair. She found what she was looking for sitting just under the woman's jaw. A black mark. The word 'bishop' popped into Ormir's mind, though she had little idea what that actually meant. So the woman, at least, was Plenoran. The man, however....

Thinking of where his crest might be, Ormir's left hand suddenly darted out, grabbing the man's arm and turning it over before he could react, revealing her own crest. She was relieved to see a black mark on his palm, and again a name popped into her mind. 'Rook.' So she would not need to fight them. A relieved sigh escaped from her lips as her eyed flickered for a moment before returning to their normal, human appearance. She released the man's arm, hoping she had not hurt him. Realizing she was a bit close, she took a respectful step back and clasped her hands in front of her, Ekuro peering curiously over her shoulder at the pair and wondering why Ormir had done that. Ormir ignored his curiosity for the moment, watching to see what the Rook and Bishop would want to do.

Mathius
Roof Top of Random Building

Mathius had been stunned - literally - by the attack the golem had unleashed on him. He had been too overconfident. He had thought the golem to be nothing but a mere magic doll that he could have easily crushed with a spell, but never had he expected the creature to hit him with lightning, and he hadn't even sensed it. What magic couldn't be sensed? Disoriented, the world was a blur of smears and warped noises. His every muscle was locked tight and out of his control for as long as the electricity continued to course through his body. There were several voices swirling around him in incomprehensible deep bellows and shouts. They grew in octave and disorder when a being appeared above him and hefted him into its arms. In its embrace, even in his stunned state, he felt a wave of ease wash over him. Mathius's eyes widened, his icy-blues reflecting the brilliance that shone off the angel as she raced for the window. The crack of what sounded like thunder followed behind him, and Mathius only thought the Tower Master had unleashed more of his lightning-lobbing golems on them. Diving through the window, she expanded her wings that cupped the air as gracefully as fingers and sailed through the sky. The wire and teeth had left Mathius's neck long ago when she had whisked him away from the golems, and as his body slowly came back under his control, he was able to observe his savior with more scrutiny.

Wings; she had wings on her head and back. She glowed like the moon and flew like a dove. He had never seen such a being in his life, and that was easily explained since he had only started living today. Whatever the creature was, she was beautiful, and he was convinced that she would be the prettiest thing he will ever lay eyes on besides the Seramel Castle. They landed some buildings away. There were cops gazing out the hospital window, pointing and shouting at the roof where they had seen the creature land. It wouldn't be long before police were on the move again to surround their newest position.

The sorcerer's eyes lingered on the woman's face as he laid comfortably in her protective embrace. A man who had manifested from the floor, appeared and was in the process of introducing himself...Pleased to meet you, and sleepy, who you're holding...Once they had drank their fill, he closed them and carefully rose to his feet. His muscles felt numb and his palm went to the back of his neck where the sensitive holes left by the prongs stung.

I think I'm your rook.

"My powers are weak," Mathius thought aloud, feeling only disgust.

...I think we should go back to the castle.

There was a strange whirr on the wind. Mathius turned to gaze down the strip of light [the road lit by street lamps] to see blue and red, flickering lights. He had never seen such a level of magic, and still he could not perceive it. The sorcerer's eyes were wide with confusion, his growing bewilderment was weighing on him, making his digits curl against his palms and his teeth clench tightly in his mouth. It was making him furious! To think that there was a being more powerful than him, weaving magic beyond his comprehension and he had lived for a century. There wasn't a form of magic that he hadn't studied at least once if not read about it.

"The magic here...how is it possible?" Mathius asked, his voice shaking with his anger. "The tower lord must think of me as nothing! I will study this world, and I will learn its magics as well as restore my own."

Frowning, Mathius faced his pieces and pointed back at the approaching cop cars. "His golems will chase us because they are under his spell. They will follow us wherever we may go until we stop them. If I had silver, gold, any precious stone or jewel, I could summon a spell and wipe them from this plane!"

Gardenia – Random Building

Nienna waited patiently feeling to the piece get closer. She had hoped it was an opposing piece yet that was just the warrior side of her speaking. Her eyes scanned the man's body as he rested in her arms trying to figure out what was so special about him. Nienna was obvious. Yet this man was different. She moved her wings in noticing a few feathers fall yet it didn't phase her... She could only guess it was by the gun shot. This didn't make her retract them, she may just have to fly again especially if the king was targeted. She blinked in thought before feeling the pressence behind her.

"Pleased to meet you, and sleepy, who you're holding. I think I'm your rook."

A voice spoke before walk up closing in only to suddenly stop. Nienna's eyes shifted back only to turn her head soon after to see who approached she and the king. A skinny young looking male with pale skin and black hair who looked as if he were dressed clean is what the angel had seen. To all honesty at first glance the maiden wasn't too sure of this man who claimed to be their “rook”. Anyone one of these pieces could've descended and attempt to make merry with them and only when they show weakness... he strikes. Did he even see the mark on her hand? Perhaps he was just guessing – There is no way for any of them to know who we were unless we see.. at least until it comes obvious. What Nienna did find out though from standing with these two is that everyone has a different pressence she could feel. The eyes of the angel followed the man's steps noticing how he stepped back after entering her aura and then it suddenly dawned her. A smirk appeared upon her face before suddenly chuckling to herself through what the man said.

"... I think we should go back to the castle."

Nienna stopped chuckling and sighed before speaking herself.

“So I have another way of finding out but so do they... “ She said referring to her aura. She closed her eyes gripping Mathius's arm a little through excitement before hearing him speak.

"The magic here...how is it possible?”

Nienna noticed he was looking down from the side which they sat at. Cop cars is what the man had seen but why does he not know this. We were informed only by words by what things were here yet...was it possible he didn't retain or gain such information. She grinned listening to such words being spoken.

"The tower lord must think of me as nothing! I will study this world, and I will learn its magics as well as restore my own."

He then turned to Nienna and the man next to her and spoke out as if he had a plan for them as he shifted his finger to point down at the cop cars.

"His golems will chase us because they are under his spell. They will follow us wherever we may go until we stop them. If I had silver, gold, any precious stone or jewel, I could summon a spell and wipe them from this plane!" He said after turning to Nienna and the man next to her as if they were going to get the materials requested instantly. As she held on to him Nienna held her hand out before making her staff appear.

“I do not expect any battles to begin tonight and honestly would rather avoid fighting the other pieces – So I will do this.... but.. I want to also say that what they use are only mechanics... I'm going to say that guess that you weren't informed which I guess I could discuss with you later... However for now if you really want me to do this... destroy those who approach us at least right now” Nienna said as she gripped the staff her eyes shifted to Lotton.

“We'll be heading to the castle afterwards . . . I believe we'll be able to discuss at least why we're here and get aqcuainted with each other and then talk about strategy against the opposing, Sound fair... King... Rook? If you don't want me to destroy the innocent then we can go now and I'll fly us”

Lotton Cromwell
A rooftop near the hospital.

Lotton saw the woman's snickering, and he immediately became annoyed. Lotton just didn't like to feel nice. Not like that. It was an intrusion into his mind. Most intruders who entered Lotton's mind typically were reduced to sobbing messes, though. They usually went insane. Whatever this intrusion was , it must not have probed into his mind manually. It probably was a non-specific mental affector. Well, whatever . Lotton was not particularly too find of feeling right now. Besides, he and the queen were on the same side. They probably had similar interests. It didn't matter. Now, they had to group up with everyone else.

The king seemed annoyed or aggravated by the existence of the police cars down below, and seemed to wish for a precious gem, that he seemed to say could help him destroy the enemy "wizard." judging by his manner, and his words, he seemed to perhaps come from a somewhat-primitive culture. Whatever the case, he seemed to really want that jewel. The queen seemed to ready her staff as well. Lotton decided not to question it.

"Sleepy, you should know that those are probably police officers. Peacekeepers. They probably arrived because someone here was causing a ruckus. In fact, they're probably just people doing their jobs and roles in society. Without them to keep the peace, this city would descend into chaos a little."

Lotton drew a white handkerchief from his sleeve, so deftly and skillfully it would look like it came from the air itself. Another swish of Lotton's hand, and the handkerchief covered just enough of his hand for his House of Cards to activate. He brought out a sapphire the size of a golf-ball, holding it between his index finger and thumb, the handkerchief pinched between his index and middle fingers, hanging, before Lotton's began polishing the sapphire with it, and then tossing it to the king. The queen spoke about flying everyone to the castle once everyone's business was concluded. Ruh roh.

"Knowing all that, have a blast," Lotton said, with a crooked smile, before turning to the queen. They were on the same side, but there was one thing he had to make sure of. He hope it wouldn't offend her. He opened his slightly, the amber in them glowing faintly as it reflected the little light it could reflect in this rainy night. "Also, lady, if you would, do not approach me with that mood-altering capability of yours. It doesn't make me feel good. It does, but I don't want it...I'll see you both at the castle."

Lotton moved the portal he had placed to appear on this roof. One headed toward the castle through the night air, the other remained on the floor at Lotton's feet. He let himself fall through, and he emerged from the floor at the white castle's entrance. He hoped that the others would appear soon. He pushed open the door, and entered. He was dripping wet, but a little heat from his gloves solved the problem. The castle was extravagant. He began to walk around the large castle. Really, he thought the furnishings welter not all necessary, but at least it looked nice. He ran into another presence (Ryuu Shosuke). It was a girl a little taller than Lotton, and with red hair. She was on his side, he knew that much. Lotton took his hat on and off, in a gesture of greeting.

"How do you do?"

Ryuu Shosuke

Seramel Castle

She had been more or less wondering awed by the furnishing of the castle. “What a strange place I wonder how one manages to go about this place?” a slender finger gently touched her chin as she thought more. Reaching a door Ryuu tried to open it by sliding it to the left but it would not budge in the least. There was a nob on the side and she grabbed it thinking that was how one would hold the door to slide it open.
That too did not work and Ryuu was beginning to show signs of frustration. “Ugh! What kind of doors are these!?” she scowled and kicked at the door; hard this caused it to break and it swung open and it dawned on her that if it swung open then that must have been how to open it.

Ears burning with ager and embarrassment, Ryuu entered the room. It was well furnished with nice furnishing that confused her a bit. Not used to such things Ryuu explored the room a bit more making her way to the large bed. Ryuu stood to the side then jumped onto the bed, landing in plump pillows and fluffy comforters. “Well at least the bed I understand- oh hush Chomesku no asked you. No you can’t eat it it’s not even living. All you would do is burn a perfectly good bed.

Ryuu left the room, somewhat guilty that she broke the door and tried to swing the other doors too. Finally she got the hang of it but then she wondered where the bathhouse was. Walking back towards where she started a figure(Lotton Cromwell) appeared out of nowhere. Within seconds Chomesku was out, held at the ready, heat emitting from her black blade ready to tear and burn at this newcomers flesh.
However Ryuu soon figured that he was on her side guessing from the presence he gave off, albeit a bit strange presence but it really meant her no harm. Lowering Chomesku, who growled at this retreating action Ryuu raised one red brow at what he did next. Raising his hat on and off his head, Ryuu wasn’t sure what that meant but figured it must have been a way of greeting by his next words.
"How do you do?"

Ryuu watched him with a steely expression on her face, and then bowed but not all the way since she could tell she was a higher rank then he. “I am faring quite well and you . . .?” her voice trailed off a little giving the subtle hint that meant she was asking for his name.

Eri Soluce

Gardenia

As the woman nodded, Eri tilted her head questioningly (Ormir + Ekuro). She wasn’t entirely sure what the nod was for. However, as Kael responded, Eri broke her gaze from the dragon and its mistress to instead rest on the side of his face. It was close enough to his eyes, and in this position she felt that straining to see them would be ridiculous anyway. "Is that what that is? I thought dragons were supposed to be… bigger.” Eri was about to shrug, but before she could make the action, she heard a low growl rumble through the dragon’s chest, and her form tensed uneasily.

She was more than ready to react in assistance to Kael if this turned sour, but her actions were all for naught as the growl was abruptly cut off. "Maybe she fed a lizard steroids and that's what she got..." An appreciative laugh slipped unbidden from her vocals which she muffled into more of a good natured kind of tone. It was probably best not to offend the dragon further. As his addressing shifted to the woman, Eri’s gaze shifted appropriately as well.

She let out an incredulous cough at his question, but grinned nonetheless. “Probably a good idea.” She murmured into his ear softly with a bright smile, keeping her eyes on the woman and her queer pet. However, a look of apprehension dawned on the bishop’s facials as the woman slid off of the dragon and began approaching them. No speech had passed from the woman, so Eri had more of the impression of the woman being more… wild, if that was an applicable word to use.

But the woman didn’t stop where Eri expected her to. Instead she leaned in to peer at Kael, and then Eri. The bishop herself once more adopted a wary attitude, and her right hand dropped from Kael’s shoulder to the leather pouch at her thigh. But once more the black bishop was just being overly wary- as anyone who was faced with a bloody dragon had the right to be- and soon the woman grabbed Kael’s arm, revealing her own black crest through the motion; and just as suddenly as she had approached, she stepped back.

Eri’s hands left Kael’s person as she took a step out, extending the one on the right in greeting to the strange woman. However, the bishop remained close at hand in accordance to Kael; she enjoyed his company immensely, even though she had only known him for such a short span of time, plus that dragon was still unpredictable. She rather preferred the thought of him being an ally so they wouldn’t have to go up against each other. Her focus drew out of her thoughts to rest expectantly once again on the dragon lady.

Kael Skye
Gardenia

Kael was a little put off at first by this new dragon woman's actions (Ormir). She had yet to answer or even speak at all so far, but at the same time she seemed a little on the friendly side as well. A little too friendly.... Kael thought. He was naturally suspicious of anyone new after the years he had spent being hunted, with the obvious exception to Eri of course. He counted himself lucky she hadn't been an enemy or else he might already be dead, again...

The woman's mood changed slightly as Kael watched a few muscles tense up a bit as she began to dismount from the overgrown lizard she had been riding. Kael's eyes were much sharper than any normal human's due to his Arachne half. His father's had been even sharper still, but Kael's vision was enough to spot the change in the woman's eyes, even through the rain. Her friendly nature seemed to evaporate as she studied them and failed to find what she was looking for on Kael's person. He had a feeling he knew what her eyes sought, but wanted to see what she would do. He stood his ground and remained motionless as she grasped his arm and turned it over. Keeping a close watch on her eyes, he saw an immediate look of relief pass over the woman's face at seeing the black mark. A smile crept to his face as he felt Eri's slight movement behind him as well. Was she going to protect me?

As the woman released his hand a stepped back to a more neutral position, Eri finally stepped out from behind him and thrust her hand out to the newcomer in a wordless greeting. Kael let his eyes wander up to the sky as another bolt crackled across the sky. The rain was still coming down and didn't look to be letting up anytime soon. Glancing at the wings of the dragon or whatever it was, Kael made a mental note to look up more often.

As he let his vision wander a bit, the dark castle came into view as lightning illuminated the area around it. He had seen a white castle while he was seated on the rooftop earlier, but thought little of it until now. Glancing down at his crest, the connection seemed more than a little clear.

Stepping a bit around Eri to look at them both, Kael gestured down the street. "Maybe we should save the introductions until we're a bit dryer." He waited until he could feel the build up of pressure in the winds that usually signaled the lightning overhead again and pointed toward the castle as it was briefly illuminated. "I saw a white one like that earlier. I'm guessing they have something to do with this amazing game we're all so excited about."

He paused for one last moment to glance back up at the sky. The raindrops made soft taps as they were diverted from his eyes by the material of his shades. "Maybe we'll even get there before we catch some odd undead hypothermia." He still didn't know what to make of their situation of being reborn yet. Maybe they couldn't even get sick, but he didn't really want to test the theory...

Ormir & Ekuro

Gardenia: In the city

Ormir watched curiously as the bishop (Eri Soluce) stepped closer and extended a hand. Ormir stared at it a moment, her own hand resting lightly on her lips as she puzzled over the motion. 'What could she want?' She only received a bemused curiosity from Ekuro in reply. Ormir glanced behind to see if the woman wanted Ormir to give her something, but saw nothing of interest and Ormir had nothing with her but the clothes on her back, which at the moment consisted of a drenched white top and short tights.

Finally, after only a few seconds had passed, she guessed the woman must want to see Ormir's crest as well. Deciding this must be the case, Ormir carefully rested her arm, wrist up, in the woman's outstretched hand. Lifting her eyes, she cocked her head to the side with a questioning look, as if wondering if that would satisfy the bishop.

To Ormir's surprise, the woman laughed pleasantly. She was not mocking Ormir, as far as Ormir could tell. The woman shifted her hand so she was holding Ormir's and lightly shook it. This only caused more confusion, since Ormir could find no meaning in the gesture.

"Maybe we should save the introductions until we're a bit dryer," the rook (Kael Skye) said. With that, Ormir realized that the woman might have been trying to introduce herself, though she had no idea what the odd shaking gesture meant. She would have to figure it out later, because the rook apparently wanted to get out of the rain. Ormir had already forgotten about the pouring rain, the pleasant coolness a welcome feeling on her skin.

The man motioned toward the castle, which was closer than Ormir would have guessed. Ormir had not gotten her bearings yet in this strange city of light. It seemed she would have to do some exploring later. She walked beside Kael and Ekuro as they progressed toward the castle.

Mathius
Seramel Castle
Throne Room

The king raised his hand to catch the golf ball-sized sapphire against his palm. His fingers curled about it, clutching it as he lowered it before his eyes. He then closed them, frowning as he appraised the power within the stone. Nothing seemed to be happening between him and the rock, but really the power it exuded had been so slight and controllable that nothing would have happened unless he wanted it to. Opening his eyes, he pocketed the stone and said somewhat pleased, "This will do...for now."

At the angel's suggestion, the Rook disappeared from the roof, leaping into a hole that appeared in the floor. The king's brows knitted curiously as he approached the hole to gaze into it to see the Rook walk through the double doors of a magnificent structure: his castle. Without a word of warning to the queen, Mathius jumped into the portal before it could seal to rocket upright on the other side. He spread his feet over the hole to keep from falling through it and gazed up at the coral-white building before him.

This...is mine, he thought. With this castle and its pieces, I will claim this realm.

No one would taser him ever again. Just as Lotton did, Mathius approached the doors, but unlike the treatment Lotton faced, they opened on their own. The king stood there speechlessly and surprised that even the castle acknowledged him.

"Your king is home," Mathius muttered.

Soaked and wet, his silver hair matted upon his head and hoody as full as a sponge, he crossed the rest of the distance, taking a step across the threshold when his clothes shifted, morphing as he crossed the borders between the inside and out. A foot within and he was dry and draped in white and gold robes. A hood was drawn over his head and a mask as pristine as porcelain was situated on his face. Mathius held his arms out before him, gazing upon his new garb. Behind the mask, he was grinning, growing drunk with the power that was erected before him. As he walked the long foyer, pawns materialized to his left and right, appearing in files that led all the way to the spacious and circular parlor. Reaching a hand into his pocket, the king removed the sapphire and clutched it. His figure then winked out of existence to appear at the end of the hall, cutting the length he'd have to travel not even in half. Standing before the parlor, he gazed upon the massive staircase and then further up to the numerous floors that circled above.

I desire only to see my throne, the king thought.

On the highest floor, two pawns appeared and the king craned his head to gaze upon the plain, stone-like figures. He once again winked out of existence before he reappeared on that floor. The smooth, dark, wooden doors opened to a grand hall where a black carpet, split a path across the white-marble floor, leading up a small staircase to a throne of ivory. Behind the chair's head was a half-sun of blade hilts, creating a seemingly crown. It was beautiful.

As soon as the sorcerer stepped onto the carpet, more pawns appeared, rising from the marble floor, appearing to have been sculpted from the marble itself. As he passed between their files, they drew their swords, the hiss of steel, resonating through the chamber as they held their blades aloft above their king's head. He walked to the end of the carpet, up the steps, and turned to face his servants. As soon as he took his seat upon the cold throne, the pawns simultaneously sheathed their swords and became as still as statues.

"Excellent," the king praised. He was already impressed and eager to get the battle preparations underway. "Summon all who serve me."

The pieces of Seramel would then feel their brands tingle and glow, and would know of the king's order. They were to gather in the throne room.

LOTTON CROMWELL
Seramel Castle Interior

"I am faring quite well, and you?"

"Just peachy," Lotton replied.

At least she wasn't a barbarian. Lotton had the impression she would be. He didn't know why. If she was a barbarian, she was a well-mannered one. With a friendly smile, Lotton looked around his current location. The castle was very lavish. He wondered at the practicality of having a medieval castle as a base of operations. In a city, it mus stick out like a sore thumb. Whatever the case, maybe there were precautions of a magical nature here. He didn't know. He hadn't even been paying attention to the castle's furniture. He might not even be able to name half of them. Whatever. A castle was a castle. Turning back to the woman, Lotton made eye contact for a few seconds. Lotton only ever made eye contact when he first met someone, or under special conditions. He never saw the need to make eye contact. Despite all the things one can learn from someone by making eye contact, it was a skill Lotton had neglected to learn. Working in a laboratory, the personality deductions made with eye contact were of little consequence to Lotton. Science and logic and reason were all the charisma he needed to convey. whoever tried to argue with him tended to lose, by simple recounting of facts. Well, now he wasn't in a lab, but a castle where he was fighting a war against things he did not know. He didn't even know anything about his own team-mates. Relatively little about his team-mates, rather. What he got from her eyes were relatively little, in terms of personality. She seemed professional, maybe. Or maybe not. Lotton was not very good at reading people. They never made sense to him. He'd rather stick to sciences he was good at, that interested him. Harder sciences. All he could father from her was how bright and red her eyes were. They were beautiful eyes, but he had the feeling that most if the people here had beautiful eyes. Even Lotton was told that he had beautiful eyes once. Too bad he would not be seeing everyone's eyes very much during his tenure in this weird place.

The mark on Lotton's hand began to glow. Lotton could feel it. He didn't even need to take his gloves off to tell. He could feel remark on his skin while it seemed to react to whatever stimulus was causing it to behave this way. The answer reached Lotton's head. At this point, he was getting more tolerant of the mental intrusions. This must have been the communication method both sides had with their soldiers. The message reached Lotton and he paid it heed. Lotton ceased his interactions with the red woman, smiling in farewell, for whatever short amount of time he would not be with his other team members, and made his way to the throne room. The trip did not take very long, and Lotton entered the throne room. Lotton reached in his sleeve and threw a white handkerchief to the side of the throne room, still within view of the king. The handkerchief stretched and enlarged in mid-air, so that, when it reached it's destination, it seemed to land on something solid, the size of a chair. Lotton walked towards it, flicked the handkerchief off the chair, which now appeared, fully corporeal, and then let the handkerchief vanish back into his sleeve, as it shrunk down to normal size again. The House of Cards was a great thing for magic shows, definitely. Lotton sat down, leaning forward against the back of the chair, after turning it to face the king. The king seemed to be dressed differently, to look more regal in appearance, and, otherwise, more serious. This war might be getting started soon. Lotton waited for the others to arrive soon.

Ryuu Shosuke

Seramel Castle

“Just peachy” was his only reply, short and blunt but it would do. peachy, just peachy, what a strange response raising a brow at his(Lotton) response Ryuu left it alone for the time being. Bright red eyes came into contact with equally bright eyes but then they fled elsewhere as if regretting making contact. what a strange man. Most men I’ve met often keep eye contact to show superiority and dominance but this man only made the briefest of contact.

Red eyes narrowed again in curiosity and she folded her arms across her chest in thought of what to do now. However that soon changed at the sudden heat emitting from her arm of the tattoo she was known for in the past. It was an uncomfortable heat as it wasn’t like Chomesku whom she could bear and calm down some. But this heat; it would not go away until she followed the order given to her by her king. ugh what a disgrace. A woman such as me taking orders from a man, the bastard better be worthy of my servitude. she glared at the wall before her figured that the man she had met also had the same feeling.

All she glimpsed a smile from him which she thought was strange. But then who was she to say what was strange or not in this world especially with this man she barely knew and had only just met. Shaking her head Ryuu cared not for returning the smile but instead went to her desired destination at her own pace. Not wanting to seem like she was following him. She opened the doors shortly after they were closed holding Chomesku in her arms for warmth and familiarity. Before her stood a rather handsome man in lavish clothing that brought about the thought of a doll. my how silly he looks all high and mighty with his clothing. I’ve never seen that type of clothing, I wonder where he’s from these thoughts flashed through her mind but chose not to resurface until later ado. All the while Ryuu made herself comfortable leaning against the wall hugging Chomesku close to her chest and watched the man on the throne before thinking of a reply. “You called us here my lord but what of your queen, where would she be at such a time of calling?” her lips formed into a cat-like smile but it was not a genuine smile but just one to show a false pretense of kindness and other such notions.

Morning Star Bar & Inn-Main Lobby

"Arrival"

Within in the Inn away from the the main streets, did sit Jean-Pierre. His mind pensive and his body restless as his impulsive desire to reach the white palace consumed him. He was met with the young woman and an older woman, sitting at an unimpressive spruce wood table. It was of medium size, round in it's body as he sat at matching wooden chairs as a coaster in the form of a white plate was lain before him. Upon this plate was a white tea cup filled with coffee. Jean-Pierre added sugar to his, hoping the caffeine and sugar will take his mind else where. They spoke in curiosity of him and why he wants to leave so bad which he replies with, "Because I must."

"Well if you must dearie please take a coat and umbrella." "Joanne please bring the nice man some weather gear." The old woman spoke. "Yes mother." Spoke Joanne as she ran to find a suitable man's coat and umbrella. "s'il vous plaît, there is no need." Jean-Pierre spoke trying to politely refuse the gift. "Please dearie I insist." spoke the old maid as her daughter brought the coat and umbrella. "Here I think this might fit you." she spoke as she handed Jean-Pierre the black rain coat. "Merci, Thank you." He spoke as he stood up and donned the coat. "I suppose I can't talk you out of it?" Joanne asked hopeful. "No, I am sorry." Jean-Pierre spoke as he was handed the umbrella. Then all of a sudden his hand twinged as if slightly burnt as he gasped and looked at the tattoo upon the top of his right hand.

"What, what is it?" Joanne asked concerned at Jean-Pierre's sudden twinge. "Ne, rien, it is nothing." "I must leave." He spoke as he heard a message run across his mind. He then walked for the door. "Oh merci, thank you for the hospitality." He spoke with a bow. He then turned and opened the door and left into the rain. "Did you understand what he said sometimes?" The old mother asked. "No, I didn't." Joanne asked as they then went back to their daily lives.

Out in the street under the cover of the umbrella, walked Jean-Pierre. Before he made it too far from the Inn he then slumped against a wall as a familiar voice ringed in his head.

"Feed"

"No not again!" Jean-Pierre cried in his thoughts. The same word continued to chime in his thoughts. As it bellowed and roared with ever increasing intensity. He had to get to the palace, before something bad happens. Regaining his strength and composure Jean-Pierre moved at a brisk pace and headed for the white castle he saw in the distance.
(Left for Seramel Castle)

Seramel Castle/Castle Grounds

He wobbled and shook as he walked the grand steps. Grand steps of an atmosphere he was far to distracted to take in. His mind was set on dogged determination to reach those front doors. The voice inside grew in power as the beast began to assume control. It was hungry and Jean-Pierre has starved him out for long enough. Yet, he couldn't allow it to win, when he was so close. His mind grew heavy as if prepared for sleep, so much so he didn't even notice the other blips of power resonating inside. He could only think of arriving. He made it to the great doors of the castle as he knocked on it. "S'il vous plaît ! Ouvrir la porte !" Jean-Pierre cried. He shouted for the door to open, as he could not find the strength to open it himself.

"It is my turn"

The voice spoke and before Jean-Pierre gave out the door opened. A servant saw a wet Jean-Pierre as he long since dropped his umbrella, and before the servant spoke Jean-Pierre passed out before him. "Help!" "Help!" The servant cried as more came to his side. "Help me move this fellow to his chambers!" "Quickly now!" The servant ordered the others as they lifted Jean-Pierre from his limbs and carried him, as if he were on a medical stretcher. The servants made no discreet movements as the other guests and residents of the castle would see the servants quickly transport an unconscious Jean-Pierre to a bedroom. From their he would rest and wrestle with thoughts within his subconsciousness.

"There lay him down." The servant ordered as they placed him on the bed. "Lets help him out of these wet clothes and into fresh ones." The servant spoke as they stripped him down and dried him of the rain. They soon placed new, lounge clothing as they laid the sheets and covers so he may get warm. "We did what we could, let him rest, and be sure to send people regularly to check up upon him." The servant spoke as the group left him to his rest. If only they could help relieve him of the beast within.
