New YorkSetting: New York

Hailey spoke his thoughts, believe it or not. "Why did it appear now?" she asked aloud as they wandered down the street. It was colder than normal, and she was glad she had brought her fur trimmed blazer.
Hours..
"We've been at this for hours..." Hailey wined. She then looked up from her book, seeing the two boys leaning over a set of old books and each other. "God dam it," she muttered, rubbing at her eyes warily. The more she learned on Angelic barriers, the more exhausted she got. Her healed scars felt like they were digging in her back, ribs and arms, Her tongue was heavy with words she didn't have the strength to say and she was dead tired. "I feel like shit." she summarised rather lamely.
"We might learn a bit more by looking at the barrier up close? " I sighed, "If I remember correctly, some angels leave their mark on their work..." I finished, lifting the child as he was slipping off my back. I rubbed my grey hair and blinked. The barrier will break in an hour, sending in the marching horde that I've been holding back...
My throats is parched and I'm trying to go further away from a water source... Oh well....
Seraphiel, you don't need Human Resources like an angel or human, your a seraph...
I know... But in this form, it's a real pain...
I yawn, walk over to Hailey and smile, "You look really worn out, is there anything you want me to do?" This may put me in danger, but if it's for Hailey, I'll do it... She looked in pain, her words had become lazy and unmotivated almost.
"No.." she slurred, before yawning and letting out a stretch. She stood, pushing out her chair in the process, and sent him a quick look. "Alright, let's go take a look at the barrier." she agreed, before hesitating. "Well, I mean, you take a look at the barrier. While I'm on the ground. Safe." she muttered, waving her hand and ignoring the magic that filled the room as the books glowed white and began to float. They slowly slid back to their spots on the bookcases as she grasped the door handle. A surging pain in her wrist however, caught her attention. "Argh!" she let out a shout and pulled back, skidding on her feet and grasping the aching bones. It was broken. What the? "What the hell.." she muttered, rubbing it. The bones shifted under her fingers, causing her to hiss in pain.

Her fingers crossed a chip under her skin, and her breath hitched as she remembered:
Angelic blood squelched under her feet as she moved through Heaven. Her white hair, crusted with dry blood that had long since turned to a disgusting brown. Feathers upon feathers lay coating the surrounds of dead angels as she passed them. Some even stuck to her feet. Her arms were stuck to her sides, having been broken severely. They would heal soon, anyway.
I smiled and lifted the kid so he was in my back properly. Upon watching the books shift back into their slots and as Hayley moved to the door, I immediately noticed something wrong. To be more precise, her wrist seemed almost like it was broken. When she let out a shout, I ran over to her. I lifted her hand from the now broken wrist and looked up at her. "How in the fathers name did you break it?" I softly held her wrist, lightly enough that it didn't hurt. "Hailey... This wrist has been broken for a while... Did you heal it and not realise or something like that?" I questioned, feeling the chips and movements.

I sighed, "I can atleast take the pain away if you like..." This sort of break was an extremely painful healing... HSbe seemed out of it as her breath hitched. Was she remembering something? I don't know...
As soon as she re-entered reality, her wrist snapped loudly as her bones fixed themselves. Feeling no pain, due the numbing presence of the memory still lingering, she blinked and managed a few words. "Uh, that spell must have worn off." she lied smoothly. Instead of answering her, Spyrth just rose an eyebrow. "I put a spell on my broken wrist, quell the pain, y'know? Must'a worn off with that small spell I put on the books." She explained slickly.
I nodded and held the door open for her, I had cringed lightly as I cannot stand broken bones: It looks and seems so wrong! I smiled gently and lifted the kid as he kept fallling down my back. Does gravity hate fallen angels? "I see, we best be getting on then." I laughed slightly.
Gravity hates fallen angels, she concluded as soon as she stepped outside the secluded building. Heat poured down onto them in an instant and the force of Earth seemed to slam onto their shoulders without even taking a step from the pavement. Whether it was the side-effects of a weakening barrier, or just a god awful day, she felt a headache begin to hum at the base of her neck.
I could tell gravity and the heat was taking a toll on the two. I felt nothing as I stepped outside, but struggled to keep the kid on my back as he slid. I yawned and pointed to the barrier's edge. "If we walk straight from here, we'll come to the edge." I said with certainty. The good thing about being an angelic archer was the eyesight, honestly its like I can zoom in and out. I yawned again, why was I so tired, ah right no sleep due to fallen angel population decreasing. I looked up further at the barrier. It was small, but I saw it, cracks surrounded by a deep blue/black/green colour. "It's gonna break..." I muttered under my breath. The heat outside dropped suddenly. I turned around to a cackle. Sixteen high level demons clad in scarlet robes...
"Fuck." she groaned, letting her head drop before turning halfway to face the scarlet robed demons. "Hiya' boys." she waved, before pulling out her handgun. She had no clue what they were after, however, they were posing a huge threat to the seemingly unaware people on the street. Without hesitation or consideration to the two angels beside her, she rose the gun up into the air and released to loud shots. People looked instantly, staring at her in confusion. She looked at them as if they were crazy, before shouting:

"Run, dumbasses! Demons!" which set everything into motion. The demons appeared for the humans, people turned, and then there was screaming. "Uh, so, um. We may or may not be able to take out 3 of these, let alone 16." she pointed out, and as the kid startled away he slid out of Spyrth's arms and onto the pavement. "Run, kid!" she shouted before he had time to fully wake up. Instead of running off with the humans, he did the smart choice and turned, heading back inside the building.

Without another word, she turned to the demons and lurched forward, before disappearing from where she was standing and appearing in front of them with incredible speed. They engaged with her immediately, two sending down punches from above. She managed to block one, rotate the other and get her palm in there. She slammed her palm against the stomach of one of the demons close by and a shockwave filtered the air, sending it far backwards. Shit, too much energy! Where had that energy come from?

"So, it's true." one of the gremlins muttered but she continued fighting the ones attacking her. "The spawn's magic shall return at the fall of the yellow sky." the one next to it whispered. Yellow sky? Did they mean the barrier? After a while of fighting and no intervention from her 'friend' she shouted out: "Okay! I've officially hit fuck it!" and let her knees collapse in on themselves. Her knees hit the pavement full force, and it sent the shock wave up to her brain, but she ignored it and slammed one of her hands onto the ground. A red magic circle appeared under them all, and the heat around them lifted into dangerous magnitudes in seconds. "Eat this!" she screamed, pushing herself back onto her feet and grabbing both her hands into a ball before slamming it into the hand of one of the demons. There was silence for a moment before a scream tore from the creature's throat.

"Remember this trick from your boss?" she asked it quietly, before it shrunk into the ground and back to hell, leaving it's cloak behind. "Alright, who's next!" she shouted to the group, who finally realised the threat in front of them. The magic circle began to swirl as her adrenaline sky rocketed. This was going to be so much fun!!
Go!
She ignored the mental cheering from her head, most likely something she shouldn't be doing but eh, and continued to fight with them.
