Introduction

ImageIn the remains of North America lies the country of Panem, where there are 12 Districts that must choose one girl and one boy between the ages of 12 to 18 to compete in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death in an arena on live television. The Hunger Games are used as punishment for "the Dark Days" when the 13 districts rebelled together against the country's government, the Capitol, resulting in the destruction of the 13th District. It seems you are a tribute! What will happen next? (Co-GM is Fruity_Loopsxx, head GM is XxYuraxX)

Information:

The Capitol

Image
The Capitol of Panem is a technologically advanced, utopian fortress city where the wealthy and powerful citizens of the nation reside. The Capitol is also the colloquial name for the ruling government of Panem. Not only are the Games controlled by this city, but so are the twelve (previously thirteen) districts. The Capitol is a tyrannical dictatorship, led by President Snow and holds total political and economical dominance over Panem, enforcing its rule through an army of Peacekeepers, harsh laws, propoganda, and, the Hunger Games. It is also the only major city. It is thought to be located in the northwestern section of the former United States of America, seemingly west of the Rocky Mountains. It is likely that it is in the current day state of Colorado, Utah, Montana, or Idaho. It is known for its food, and fashion. The Rockies also acted as a natural barrier and proved useful for the Capitol, allowing their air forces to bomb the rebels who attempted to invade the city in the Dark Days.

Style and fashion are very important to the aristocratic citizens of the Capitol. It is common for them to tattoo and dye their bodies, as well as undergo plastic surgery to alter their appearances. Some are whiskers, dyed skin, talons, and more outrageous fashions not mentioned. Some people of the Capitol also have gems implanted in their skin. Capitol residents also frequently wear wigs in a multitude of colors. The other districts think the people from the Capitol are different and odd. In order to have a good time at a party and eat as much as they want, Capitol residents drink a special liquid (like ipecac), that causes them to vomit, thus providing room for more food. The residents seem almost oblivious to the fact that, although they go through lots of food and still have plenty left over, many of the district's residents are starving. The food Capitol residents eat is extremely rich.

The people who live in the Capitol speak with strange accents; their voices are high pitched, their jaws barely open when talking, and the ends of their sentences going up as if they're asking a question. They have odd vowels, clipped words, and tend to hiss the letter "s."

Reaping

Every year, each district holds a reaping ceremony. Two large glass balls contain slips of paper with each child's first and last name. A child's name is entered each year for every year that they are eligible. The entries are cumulative, and each year another slip is added to the glass ball for the child's aging. Ex: At age 12 one slip has their name, at 13 two slips are added, and so on. By the time each child is 18, they must have a minimum of 7 entries in the glass ball. However, they can choose to add their name more times in exchange for tessera, which is a small ration of oil and grain. Each tessera has enough oil and grain to supply one family member with food for one year.

The district's representative/escort picks a name out of the balls, one of which is for girls and one for boys. The tributes whose names are chosen are then entered into the Games, unless someone is willing to volunteer - a normally quite rare phenomenon unless it is in one of the "Career Districts" (1, 2, and 4), districts in which children have been training their whole lives to enter the Games.

When a victor comes home, they are no longer be eligible to participate in the Games even if they are still young enough to have their name drawn in the reaping. The exception to this rule is the Quarter Quell. arena.

The reaping ceremony is also treated like a celebration to all districts. The children dress up and sometimes given gifts to each other. They also tend to celebrate after the reaping is over, except of course for the children who are chosen who are busy saying their goodbyes.

Mentoring

Each living victor from each district is given the task of mentoring the next tributes for the Games. If there is only one living victor, he/she will be mentor for both tributes. Any living victor is invited to the Capitol to come alongside the tributes and to watch the Games live. Mentors are expected to come in order to sort out the complications of sponsors and sending the gifts into the arena.

Tokens

Each tribute is allowed one token from their district, to represent and remind them of home. They must not be able to be used as weapons. They are very carefully examined and checked for any hidden triggers.

Sponsors

As tributes battle in the arena, quite often they can become helpless. This is simply because of the Cornucopia bloodbath since the tributes are fighting over the items they need to win the Hunger Games. Many of the tributes are left with limited or no items they wanted from the Cornucopia. Wealthy viewers or groups of people can pool their funds and send items into the arena should a tribute need something, such as food, shelter, weapons, or medicine.

Image

Bloodbaths

The bloodbath is what starts the excitement in the Games. On average, roughly half of the tributes die at the initial battle that takes place at the Cornucopia, near the starting point of the games. Spilling from the Cornucopia and strewn on the ground among the tributes are various items including weapons, food, water, and other supplies. Some tributes venture into the opening scramble for these valuable items, while others use it as part of their strategy for slaughter.

Feasts

If the Gamemakers feel that there has not been enough bloodshed recently, they will invite all of the tributes to the Cornucopia for a feast. Normally this feast features something desirable to the tributes, like food, armor, medicine, etc. so they will be more likely to go. Some still choose not to because these feasts usually result in a bloodbath. Attendance is not mandatory.

Gamemakers

The Gamemakers design and control The Hunger Games. They design the arena, the outfits, and a number of the deaths. From the tiniest detail to the biggest bloodbath, the Gamemakers are in charge of entertaining the Capitol to the fullest. A dry and boring Hunger Games means that the head Gamemaker's life is in peril. A bloody and fantastic Games that keeps the crowd on the edge of their seats brings the Gamemakers fame and fortune.

Image

Training Center

The Training Center is a skyscraper located in the Capitol where the tributes live and train in preparation for the Hunger Games. Their mentor, escort, stylist, and prep team stay with them during this time. The tributes will have individual training sessions in the end, and be evaluated with a score of 1 through 10 by the gamemakers. This will prove a prediction of how long they can stay alive.

Image

Interviews

The night before the start of each Hunger Games, there is an interview with each of the tributes. Such as, their life back home, time in the Capitol so far, training scores, and the Reaping. It is is noted to try to help all the tributes through their interview. The interviews are in order of districts with the female preceding the male tribute. Each interview is alloted three minutes per tribute. The main purpose of the interviews is to show the rest of the Capitol a little about each tribute to help them choose their favorite. There is always an interview with the tributes before each Hunger Games, and another with the victor after the Games are over.

Stylists

A stylist is a key member of a tribute's team along with their mentor and escort. Although they do not join the team until the tributes arrive in the Capitol, stylists play a key role in preparing the tributes for the Hunger Games as they are responsible for their public image. They create the entire wardrobe of the Tributes during their stay in the Captiol prior to the Games. This makes a stylist the most publicly known and visible member of the tribute's team and many of them are familiar to the viewers as they have worked with multiple tributes.

Chariot Rides

When entering the training center, tributes were required to enter via chariot rides that would show the audience what to expect from the districts' tributes. The chariots would be decorated according to which district they belonged and the district's industry. Most of the time the audience would cheer for what they liked and do nothing for things they did not. The chariot rides were very important because it was a chance for the tributes to make an impression and gain sponsors.

FACE CLAIMS:

District 1 is one of the wealthiest districts of Panem. Its primary industry is manufacturing luxury items for the Capitol. Some of them include diamonds and most likely other precious gems. It seems that parents name their children after the names of precious items and their attributes, which may be a reflection on their "glamorous" nature. Children in District 1 almost always seem to take pride in competing in the Games, and are among the group of tributes that band together to pick off the weak, called the Careers.

Being one of the wealthier districts, District 4 tends to produce Career Tributes who volunteer to participate in The Hunger Games. This is also the case for Districts 1 and 2. These children are raised to win the Games, making them stronger and much more capable of winning than the average tribute.

Rezno Plubart

He took a step onto the stage as the crowd went wild. It was his fourth year as Head Gamemaker, to be exact. The click of his black boots was hard to be heard, but it still echoed in the distance. Everything was going in slow motion. The flashing lights, the colored wigs bobbing up and down, the sparkle across the stadium, and the smiles that were being swept across the Capitol. Oh how Rezno loved it. The fame and the glory along with the riches. What could be better? His gaze turned towards Fekrin Denire, the famous interviewer. He sat in the red, plushed chair. Red was the theme of this year, it reminded Rezno of blood. The blood that would be shed in his wicked arena. Fekrin was in a red, bedazzled tuxedo with a simple satin bow tie. He was around 40, but of course he had aging implants. Who didn't here in the Capitol? His red, dyed hair turned towards Rezno with his dark eyed look. He stood up from his crossed leg position and opened his arms.

"Ah, Rezno! The crowd had missed you!" Fekrin boomed across the microphone. Rezno gave a wide and white smile in return. He joined Fekrin's open arms in an embrace and replied,

"I think they missed you too!" The many Capitol citizens laughed at this as Rezno sat in an opposite plush chair. He chose to go simple this year, a black tux with a red tie. But who would forget his blue mohawk and beard? It was his signature look.

"Before we all watch the reaping together", Fekrin asked, "tell us, what's in store for the games this year? We all know it's the 30th year, so it must be important!" He gestured his arms towards the crowd as the screamed loudly. Rezno answered,

"Well, I can't tell you much." The crowd booed in response. "Well it's policy everyone! I can tell you that our arena is quite different from our past ones. I can assure, this year will be the biggest!" The crowd cheered as this statement.

Fekrin joked, "That's what you say every year, Rezno." The citizens laughed along with the Head Gamemaker.

"With me, bigger is better!" He let out another wide smile as he looked towards the screen. This year the reaping would be broadcasted which caused more excitement. "Let it begin!", he excalimed. With that, it had begun.

Character Portrait: Cheyenne Vervoort

Cheyenne opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling above her, it seemed different without the old man. Everything seemed different without the old man she knew as ''Jack''. Jack had been her father for a whole time, and she had been sad when he died, but had left it behind. She knew she wouldn't need to weep for Jack, he wouldn't come back, and she knew he was proud of her.

She moved her legs out of bed and blinked a few times. She looked around the room silently before yawning. She stood up and stretched her arms before walking to her closet and opening it. She got out a simple tanktop and a skirt. She knew the Hunger Games would be everywhere soon and she had her dress ready already.

She sighed and dressed herself. She then went to the kitchen and checked if there was any food but only found some skins of animals. She sighed softly and unlocked a drawer. She took a step back and opened it. There it hang, a beautiful self made bow and arrows. She smiled faintly and got the arrows and bow before going outside and running away.

She ran into the forest and went straight to the river. She cleaned her face and drank some water from her hands she had curved, before looking around. She stayed low and her steps were slow, she didn't want to scare off any animals close by, she was hungry. She noticed some birds and slowly rested the arrow on the bow, and pulled the string backwards slowly. She aimed carefully, then released it.

It was a good hit and she quickly went to the bird. It was dead. She pulled out the arrow and strapped the bird to the belt that hang over her shoulder. She then went back to the river and bent down. She cleaned the arrow with water before putting it back on the belt with the other arrows. She stood back up and slowly started to head back.

She walked into the village and looked around. She sighed and opened the door of her house, walked in, closed it behind her and went to the kitchen. she hang the bow and arrows back in the drawer and made a fire, cooked the meat of the bird and ate it. After that, she went back to her bedroom and looked at the dress. She got it out of the closet and laid it on her bed, then sighed. She hoped she wouldn't be picked out this time, but she knew the chance was bigger.

Jack had always told her to keep hope, and so she would. Maybe she was lucky not to be chosen, but if she would be chosen, she had no idea what she would do. She was sure she would be killed easy. She didn't train for it, at all. In the first few years of her life she had trained but never wanted to. She always thought surrendering was better, then her death would be less painful and quick.

She sat down on the bed and thought back to the boy. Scarfn had been his name. She smiled faintly as she thought of him. If she would be chosen, she would try to win, for Jack and for Scarfn. She sighed. She puts the dress on and sighed softly. ''Time to go and face my faith once again,'' she said softly to herself.

She walked out the house and signed herself in. Now it was only waiting.

Rowan woke up to the sounds of her siblings running around the house. Stretching her arms, she saw some of her siblings awake and some of them are still sleeping. Getting up she goes into the kitchen seeing her mother trying to feed the younger ones "Morning Mama". Her mother turned and smiled to Rowan "Morning hun, I laid a dress on my bed for you for the reaping. Make sure you get something to eat this morning and wash up."Rowan nodded and grabbed a bowl of pourage that one of her older sisters made just the other day, sitting down at the table she ate it. She couldn't believe it was finally that year, the year she might be sent away to her death.

After she finished her food, putting her dish in the sink, she went to her mothers room and looked at the five outfits on the bed. It will be 5 of them this year that could become a tribute, four of her siblings plus her, she was the youngest one this year and she was scared. She started thinking about her sister Reina, her sister would want her to be strong and not show the fear. Rowan grabbed the smallest dress there and went to the place that heald the small tub. Hanging the dress she looked in the tub seeing one of her brothers already filled it she smiled glad she didn't have to go and get the water.

After she got washed up and the got dressed. Looking down at the dress she finally noticed that this was Reina's dress, the one she wore at her first reaping. Rowan couldn't help it, tears started to fall down her cheeks. "Rowan are you okay?" she jumped and looked around seeing her older sister Ryka. "Yes...I just really miss Reina...and im scared" her sister frowned a little then hugged Rowan "We all miss her Row, but we need to stay strong for her, and you most likely won't be chosen, me and your older brothers signed up for a lot of the tesseraes, we are more likely then to get chosen then you are." Rowan hugged her sister, Ryka's words helped calm her just a little, but she was worried for her sister and brothers scared they will be chosen. "I love you Ry" she let her sister go "I love you too Row, now go on I got to get ready now"

Rowan left her sister to get dressed and went back to her room she shared with some of her other siblings. She opened her small trunk and grabbed a small bell. Reina gave her this bell when she was younger and she wanted to take it with her to the reaping. She sat on her bed for awhile lost in her mind, when she heard her Mother yell that it was time to go.

Rowan walked with her family till they had to split apart, her brothers went on one side and Ryka and her on another. They signed in and after that Ryka gave her one last hug before she went with the other girls her age. She took in a breath and let it out slowly waiting for what was to come next.

Tinder Graybelle

Tinder felt a warm hand caress her forehead. She slowly opened her blue eyes, and met her mother's gaze. The deep blue eyes lit up her worn face, and crows feet were visible as she smiled down at her daughter. Tinder gave a small smile then closed her eyes again, savoring this warm moment with her mother. All too soon, Mrs. Graybelle spoke softly to her daughter, saying that the morning bread must be bought. Tinder nodded and sat up as her mother exited the small room. She pulled on a pair of tight dark gray pants, a sleeveless black shirt, and black boots that laced to the knee. As she crossed the living room, she watched her mother take a small sip of coffee, a beverage they can rarely afford and only drink on special occasion. But of course, this was a special occasion, it's the day of the reaping.

Jumping down the front porch steps, Tinder made her way into town, careful to avoid the many railroads and factories nearby. How she hated transportation, despite the fact that her district specializes is constructing the machines. She could easily take a ride into town if she could afford it, but she preferred going on foot.

Walking into the district square, she said a few hellos to a few familiar faces and stepped into the bakery. Warm air hit Tinder's face, overwhelming her with a variety of smells. She inhaled deeply, loving the scent. Making her way to the counter, she greeted the baker. "G'Mornin', girl," said the round man. Tinder was fond of the baker. He was a kind man, and always gave fair prices, even occasionally given free bread to the poor children around back.

Tinder smiled. "Hello, Mr. Robson." The baker went around back and pulled out a small brown sack filled with bread. Tinder went to the bakery often enough that Mr.Robson knew what Tinder would ask for. She opened the bag, revealing four loaves of bread, instead of the usual two. Tinder raised her head and opened her mouth to speak, but was silence by the baker. "Think of it as a gift. . . for the holiday." Tinder nodded, slipped a hand-full of coins on the counter, and gave a small goodbye. If only today was a holiday. It ought to be, with all work cancelled. But of course, it wasn't for two particular families. One of their children will go off to the capitol where they will participate in the infamous Hunger Games and fight to the death. Those families will draw their shutters and weep in their rooms, forced to watch as their children die.

Making her way back home, Tinder met up with her brother as he walked home from the factory he was employed at. Ronder gave Tinder's hair a pat, and accompanied her home, where her parents were waiting. Placing the bread on the table, Tinder went back into her bedroom and undressed. She pulled on straight black slacks, and a white blouse. She let her blonde hair fall down her back. Slipping on black flats, she walked with her family to the district circle where the two honorable tributes will be chosen. Happy Hunger Games, she thought to herself and she walked.

"YOU'RE WORTHLESS!!!!" his father screamed at him. Onyx ran through the house as his father chased after him. "FREAKING WORTHLES!!!" His father was drunk, yet again. No surprise.

"Dad!" He mumbled weakly. "Please stop it!" He tried to push his father away, but it was no use. HE kept advancing. Onyx had gotten his strong body from his father. He was pushed to the ground, as usual, and beaten brutishly. "DAD!" he screamed. "AGHH!" He might as well have been whispering. No one heard his screams of anguish. His father's fists came down harder and harder. Finaly, after forever, it stopped. Onyx was so sore. The day of The Reaping and he was already hurt. For gods sake the games hadn't even started yet! They had for him, they would start for every one else later.

"I HATE YOU ONYX!" His father said as he tried to find escape in his room. He ran up the grand staircase and locked the door. His reaping suit was on the bed. It was a simple tux. He slipped the silky fabric on. It was a tailored suit. It fit the broad muscled frame of his accentuating every feature. He left the tie where it was, and instead left a couple buttons open. It looked better that way. He rolled his shoulder around in it's joint. his father had put all his weight on it this morning and it hurt like being stabbed.

He went into the town square to await the reaping. He was going to prove to his father he wasn't worthless. He was going to voulenteer his life to a living hell. "Hey Onyx..." The standard girl posse ran up to meet him. Their v-necked dresses complimented their -uh- eyes well. He secretly enjoyed the view.

"Hey ladies." he winked at them and continued on his way. They practically swooned.

Avalon Shire

Avalon Shire curled her fingertips along the thick rope. A slight rain had fallen, but nothing major. It worried her why so many of the citizens were so sorrowful. Oh yes, the reaping. Her bare feet pushed off of the soft dirt, turning her through a circular motion on her small swing. This was the only place where she could think. The only place where she could think in peace. It was dawn, but many people were awake. Probably because of the usual working hours. A frail woman passed Avalon, she had many wrinkles and pain in her eyes. Her small hands seemed to be carrying a pale of water. Avalon seemed to take the liking of studying others, she pondered what their life was like. Her gentle eyelids shut as the pitter patter of rain surrounded her. It was calm on this morning. Usually, District 8 was bustling with sewing or work, but not on the reaping. Everyone in the district could write a whole book on, "The Art of Needle and Thread". "All good things must come to an end..." She thought, to herself. Her eyes opened to take the view of branches above her. They looked as if they were reaching out towards something. Her elbows met the rope as she pulled herself through, standing away from the wooden swing. The tree looked broken. Maybe dead, and about to crumble. Avalon looked away quickly as her feet traveled downward onto the hill that held the dead tree.

"No work today?" This man leaned against a crippled chair as the door shut behind Avalon. She looked at him, stubbled white hair crowded his chin as small wrinkles fell over his face. A worn plad shirt showed his rough skin and his hair was becoming bald. His dark eyes looked clouded, looking like he had been crying. This happened to be her father. She jumped at his statement, she was used to the silence this morning. Her eyes studied the familiar room. Ripped wallpaper, broken floor boards, a dirty table, broken chairs, and a small fireplace with a simple mantle that held old pictures. She replied quietly,

"Father, it's the reaping. No one works." Avalon bit her lip. It was hard to talk to this man. He was the one person she couldn't stand, but loved the most. Her finger tapped against her worn, dark pants. Her thoughts turned back to the reaping. She couldn't stand the Captiol either, or their horrific games. It was all just a simple trap along with revenge. Though confident, Avalon was always nervous. She tried to stay away from tessera, but you would never know if you had a higher risk or not. Of course she would take part in a revolution, who wouldn't? But the thought of even speaking against the Capitol was unberable, you would be killed in and instant. Her father spoke,

"You won't leave me Avalon. Ok?" Avalon's head shot up. It was strange when he said words of love. She nodded in return. "Her dress in upstairs, it will probably fit you now." He murmured. Her eyes widened. Her father hated talking about her mother. Avalon couldn't blame him, she despised it too. The woman who had given birth to her quickly died after bringing her into this world. This, caused her father to spiral into a world of depression and alcohol. Thankfully, he recovered. Avalon still checked his room every now and then for signs of that awful substance. It shocked her that she would be wearing her mother's dress, sometimes she wondered if he did recover from his depression. She nodded again slightly and began to head towards the petite set of stairs.

Her room was simple. A small yellow bed to her left with a broken table to her right that held clothes. She didn't care for any decoration, she didn't need much. The plain brown dress beckoned her towards her bed. A belt sat high under her chest that tied in to a drooping bow in the back. The sleeves ended at her elbows and her dark brown hair was tied into a full bun. Her fingertips met the silver locket that hung from her neck, it was her mother's. Outside of the window frame, many children were heading towards the Justice Building from their small houses.

"All good things must come to an end."

Lucy rolled over in her bed, tracing her hands over the rough canvas of the bed. The light from outside was slowly seeping into the room through the window and there was a sick empty feeling filling Lucy's stomach. It was the day of the reaping. Lucy groaned and sat up in bed, stretching her arms up high and stifling a low yawn. Lucy slipped out of the bed and rubbed her eyes slowly letting her eyes adjust to the lighting. Lucy crossed the room and into the far corner where there was a beat up mirror. The only mirror in the house. The glass was cracked and dirt was smudged in the corners but her family couldn't afford to buy a new one. Lucy smoothed her hair back and pulled it into a ponytail as she exited the room and into the hallway.

Lucy sighed. She was in the reaping bowl 20 times this year. She had a more than a chance than the younger kids to be chosen. Lucy wiped tears from her eyes as she entered the kitchen where her mother was cooking breakfast. It was oatmeal but Lucy called it "Gruel" yet it was the only thing they could afford to eat so Lucy didn't complain. She was just happy that she had food. She had heard stories of people in other districts dying of starvation and there was the occasional fatality in district 10. "Hello mom." Lucy says as she takes a seat at the dining table.

"Lucy you have nothing to worry about.." Her mother says with a weak smile as she places Lucy's bowl of "Gruel" in front of her. "I know mom.. Thanks for breakfast.." Lucy mumbles as she eats the oatmeal. "Mom, I'm not worried. My odds of being picked are the same as everyone else my age... It could be an 18 year old, mom. You know they have the worst chance of not being picked if they sign up for tesserae.." Lucy gives her mother a weak smile as she looks into her mothers eyes. They are sad and light blue, almost like grey. "I love you mom." Lucy says as she kisses her moms cheek.

After breakfast Lucy decided to go for a walk to see what was going on in town. She travelled along the dirt path joining her house and the town. Trees framed the path, arching over Lucy's head as she made her way towards town. This was the same path that led her to school and to the forest, and of course her farm. Lucy had the day off since it was the reaping, a special holiday. Lucy saw the town coming into view as she advanced closer. She could see the stage now... Two un lucky tributes would stand there today, panicking knowing they would die in a matter of weeks. Lucy's heart sped up. As hard as she didn't want to admit it, that girl tribute on that stage and in front of the whole country could be her.

Amethyst woke up the morning of her 6th reaping, as the warm streams of sun filtered in through her curtains. She procrastinatingly thudded her feet onto the worn wood floor boards, and slowly stood up from the comfort of her warn bed. "Reapings..again. Oh joy!" She thought sarcasticly. On her first reaping day, she had been excited for possibly winning, and at such a young age. Of course, she wasn't even picked, and someone else volunteered before she could. "This year, I will be picked, or I will volunteer, I swear" she silently promised herself. Her feet padded against the floor as she walked over to the place where she had layed out her reaping dress. It was one of her grandmother's, the one she wore on her final reaping, in fact. Amethyst had always loved it, and she had especially loved the lace detail on the sleeves.

"Hi mom," She said, while kissing her mom's cheek. Her mom had been in the kitchen, as usual, working on breakfast. Amethyst grabbed a roll, and sliced it in half, spreading butter in it. A bite told her that this was good, bakery bread, the kind her family always gets on reaping day. After finishing her roll, she ventured into town, hoping to meet her friend, Emerald in town. She eventually found her standing on the side of the road, looking into the distance. "Hey, Em! I like your dress!" Amethyst called, racing over to where her friend stood. "I like your's, too," Emerald replied, quietly "Hey, what's the matter?" Amethyst asked, worried that something had gone terribly wrong "Thissy," Emerald used the nickname only she can use "What if one of us is picked?" "Em, what are the chances of that happening?" But Amethyst honestly wasn't sure herself.

Character Portrait: Taz Maddox

Taz dug his feet into the sand, enjoying the feel of the soft grains as they shifted between his toes and the smooth caress of the cool ocean breeze on his face and bare chest. He closed his eyes and tilted his head slightly upward, basking in the warm glow of the steadily rising sun as it peeked through the purplish-gray clouds that hung on the horizon. The steady hush of the waves soothed him, and he stood like that for a moment, simply enjoying the familiar sounds and smells of the ocean. His home.

Bright blue eyes snapped open, and Taz suddenly surged forward, leaving the sand behind him to replace it with the rough wood of the old dock. He pumped his arms, feet pounding against the loose planks until he reached the end, where he bent his knees and leaped over the edge without a moment's hesitation. He curved his body downward, tucked his chin into his chest and made a point with his arms above his head as the water rushed up to meet him.

The cold water surged around him in a flurry of tiny bubbles, and Taz found himself sinking slowly down into the murky depths, gently tugged back and forth with the movement of the waves. He suddenly felt his feet barely touch bottom, and he let himself go completely limp, floating weightlessly, like a feather drifting on the wind. A few bubbles escaped from between his lips, and he watched them rise to the surface, the distorted edge of the dock barely visible in his blurred vision. It was almost completely silent down here, so peaceful and calming. He was right where he wanted to be, where he always wanted to be, and where he wished he could stay forever.

And then a familiar shape suddenly appeared above him, a fuzzy black and white thing that peeked over the edge of the dock and stared down at him through the murky water. He smiled, a few more bubbles escaping from his mouth to flutter to the surface. He slowly bent his legs, stretching his arms high above him, and pushed off the sandy ocean bottom, leaving the serenity of the sea floor behind. He could only hope that he'd return.

Taz's head broke the surface, and he immediately sucked in a mighty gulp of air into his lungs. His little sister, Nat, stood above him on the deck, her skinny arms crossed over her chest and one thin black brow raised disapprovingly.

"Honestly, Taz," she began, shaking her head at her older brother. "It's a miracle you haven't grown gills and a fish tail by now. You were down there for, what, five whole minutes?"

"Four and a half." Taz grinned crookedly, treading the water.

"Whatever," she said with a roll of her eyes. "Either way, you still have fish for brains."

Taz laughed, reaching up to grip the edge of the dock as he heaved himself out of the water and onto the wooden surface. Nat backed up with a wrinkle of her nose, trying her best to not get dripped on. Taz grinned mischievously, to which her eyes widened, then shook his head like a dog. His sister leaped backward with a shriek.

"Taz!" she complained, shooting him a murderous glare. Taz looked at her innocently.

"I'm sorry, sis," he said, trying hard not to smile as he opened his arms wide. "Hug?"

"No thanks," she grumbled, wiping saltwater off her face. "Come on, fish-breath. It's starting soon, and you still need to go home and change." She began walking back towards the shore, and Taz stared after her, letting his arms drop back down to his side as he stood dripping wet at the end of the dock. He felt a sudden pang of fear, watching her. The Reaping would begin soon, and Nat was twelve years old now. What if...

He shook his head to clear away the thought. No, he told himself. Her name's only in there once. She's safe. The odds...are in her favor. She's safe...

Nat stopped and turned back to look at him, one brow raised questioningly. "Taz? You okay?"

There was a note a worry in her tone, and Taz quickly showed her a bright grin. "Yeah!" He trotted down the dock to catch up, and the concern on his sister's face shifted into a smile. He grinned back at her, throwing one dripping arm around her shoulders. She struggled to escape, complaining about getting her hair wet and having to change her dress for the third time that morning.

She's safe, he reminded himself once again as he held her to his side. She'll be safe...

Yes! Hurry, before it has to be before we complete the Reaping. Yura told me to say this, we're friends. She can't reach the computer right now.

Re: 30th Annual Hunger Games

So, once everyone posts their morning of the reaping, are we going to continue from there, or go right into the games?

Re: 30th Annual Hunger Games

Hi! Can I reserve the District 8 male, please? I'll hurry and get him done!

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea to me! I guess you could just kinda' roleplay as the other tribute in your district a bit. Why don't we start then?

Re: 30th Annual Hunger Games

I think we should just say the characters not taken were killed in the bloodbath.

Re: 30th Annual Hunger Games

Ok guys, I edited the roleplay. You can have two characters now since we have a lack of them, or we could create a whole new page of this so other people will join. Thoughts?

Re: 30th Annual Hunger Games

If this is still open, could I have the district 9 girl? I'll get started on the character sheet right now cause I'm dying of boredom, and if you're not accepting people it's fine :)

Re: 30th Annual Hunger Games

I like that idea much better, and it makes a lot more sense. There has to be Bloodbath Victims, and no one's going to want to kill off their character at the very beginning of the roleplay. :P

By the way, Taz's face claim is Aaron Bruckner. Forgot to mention that. :3

WhiteTiger08 wrote:I'm confused. What's happening? :P

Yeah, sorry! I was kinda' in a rush. You see, I'm going to create the exact same roleplay as this one, just narrow down the tributes so people will have a better chance of not dying, and killing other tributes that won't be listed in choosing or are actually controlled by someone. If you already made a character, I will keep your district, but take away the other ones. The districts that will not be used, you can use the tributes to actually you know, kill or communicate to. I would like to keep actual players death until the end. Make sense?

Re: 30th Annual Hunger Games

It's okay, Heather. I still don't know how to do half the stuff on here. Just copy the character sheet on the bottom of the introduction, then go below that and click the bar that says submit a character. Paste the character sheet in the first large box, then fill it out. You can take a look at my character if you need help/inspiration. Her name is Tinder Graybelle.

Re: 30th Annual Hunger Games

I feel kind of dumb, but this is the first time I've done any type of character. How do I make one?
