Cyrus is never seen without an oak staff which he leans on and occasionally gestures with. He often makes use of magic in even the most mundane situation. In addition, he may make vague or outright "eccentric" comments and, of course, sarcasm is his bread and butter.
Cyrus never was what his father, Lord Lacroix wanted from a son. Curious and kind-hearted by nature, Cyrus despises most of the people he has been forced to deal with throughout his short life. Where his tongue is the equal of any courtier who crosses him and he understands politics rather well, he'd much rather spend his day studying magic and history, either in the library with his books or in the wilderness where the ruins of civilizations that preceded the Four Kingdoms. Quite often, he will lose track of time and it is only Rori who is able to drag him away from his studies to eat and socialize. Despite his age, he is wise beyond his years or at least has enough common sense to see things others would not. He abhors the treatment of the magical creatures in his realm and he knows that it is only a matter of time before things reach their breaking point.
Despite his distant relationship with his father, Cyrus secretly craves his approval even as he hides behind snark or indifference. He loves the rest of his family deeply, particularly his brother and sister and he cares for his people. However, as the sickly and only male heir to his House, life hasn't been kind to him. There are those who look upon him as liability to his family, someone to be pitied if not held in contempt. Thus, a bookish personality often gives way to snark and clever schemes to undermine those who deserve it. Cyrus is also quite talented in the use in magic and often uses it in a casual manner such as when he needs to fetch a book from across the room or when he just feels like shaping small flames of fire as he gestures.

Where other boys his age would mock-fight imaginary battles against enemies human and inhuman, Cyrus much preferred his books and tutors over others his age. His only interest in physical activity was exploring the forest outside his family's castle, a forest which he often explored alone. It was on one particular cloudy day that he discovered a crumbling stone structure long forgotten by most people in the area. Its architecture was different, more graceful and yet sturdier than any other building he had ever seen and its walls were inscribed with half-faded mosaics of tale of humans, dragons, and other magical creatures. One particular picture caught his eye. It showed a human and a dragon with open wounds smearing blood together in some sort of ritual. He spent so long studying these mosaics, he barely noticed when it began to rain. Soon, it was dark and cold and he tried to make his way to the castle, but he couldn't find his way. There he met a direwolf who became his closest friend and companion.
She was a daughter of one of the servants at the castle and one of the only other children besides his siblings whom he played with. She had gotten curious about where he went and had followed him. She helped him get back to the castle and was by his side almost everyday he spent recovering in his bed. As a reward, King Arlo allowed her to become his "pet" rather than just another servant. Cyrus found that she was different from the others, always eager to listen to him ramble on about magic and history without getting bored or teasing him about it and as they grew older, he only became closer to her. It is only recently that he found that his feelings for her were different than what would ever be accepted and he fears what would happen to her if it was ever revealed. Now, as Courtmoor stands over the edge of the abyss, Cyrus knows that only his cunning and magic can save those he loves.
