Introduction
Sometimes it only takes one moment, one wrong movement of a hand or a fleeting lapse in judgement, to drastically change the course of the future. In the winter of 2010, that is precisely what happened. The mechanic hadn't meant to get his jacket licked by the spark of a malfunctioning generator in the Menagerie. He hadn't meant to set the whole place up in flames. But he did. And it changed everything.
Founded in 1925 by the dark and ever so elusive Monseiur Sombre, Le Cirque Noir, always incredibly mysterious to the public eye, had done a very good job of keeping its greatest secret behind closed doors. Even when the show settled down in New Orleans in the summer of 2005, remaining there for more than five years, the dark curse of its members, though suspected and rumored of, was never thought to be anything more than a twisted fairy tale. However, after the devastating fire and the death of a beautiful burlesque girl, things began to quickly fall apart.
There were firetrucks, police officers, reporters by the dozen. They showed up in a flash and began to dig. But once they started to push their way deeper and deeper into the heart of Le Cirque Noir, they found what they least expected. Old photographs were released to the public. Antique newspaper articles dating back to 1925 were brought into question. It seemed strange, and, quite frankly, impossible that the same faces immortalized in film nearly a century ago were still out there, doing acrobatics in the main spec., selling popcorn in the midway, sending chills down audiences spines in the sideshow tents.
Needless to say, more than a few questions began to rise to the surface. Some thought it was a mistake, that the similar faces were just descendants of the original circus members. Others jumped to the immediate conclusion of some strange form of voodoo magic. The more radical thinkers believed the members of the show had sold their souls to the devil himself. In the end, it didn't matter what the public thought, Le Cirque Noir was in danger of being destroyed, and Monsieur Sombre was forced to do something he had never done before.
He ran.
The train was packed up in haste and the entire show disappeared in the dead of night. Now, months after the tragic incident, the show hasn't stopped moving. It seems that it never will. But the members of Le Cirque Noir know better than to ever be fooled by what anything seems. They've been made all to aware of what happens when you're not on your toes for less than a second, and they certainly won't ever forget. In truth, no one knows exactly the fate of the dark circus. No one ever will. All they can do is continue on as they always have, in the shadow of the Monsieur's ever-watching eye.
So, what do you say? It may be a dark and twisted tale, but are you interested? Why don't you come down -- come down and join the circus. There's no audition to get into the show. All that we ask for is your immortal soul.

Re: The Cursed Circus
So I have a question, according to what you wrote...character trades soul for being able to join circus?
Or did I misunderstood?
