On the outside, Sunspark looks like any happy-go-lucky young man. On the inside he is extremely self-disciplined, focused and determined, honed by his years of training. His personality is extremely organised. He makes meticulous plans, setting goals over the course of the next year, month, week, day and hour. He carefully monitors his exercise regime and all the food he consumes, making sure it conforms to his nutritional requirements. He can act as warm, stupid or charming as he pleases, which he frequently does to lower the guard of his targets. On rare occasions, his old, happy, friendly self shines through the shell of his mental and physical conditioning, but it never lasts long and he keeps it under control. He constantly observes the people, places and objects around him, making mental notes and gathering data for future reference. When required to fight, kill or capture someone, he is as cool, efficient and unflinching as a machine.
Sunspark's parents were talented scientists employed by the government in the federal molecular biology research department. Unfortunately his father, being a curious and intelligent man, discovered more than he was supposed to about the Genesis project. Sunspark's home was raided, his parents killed and he and his sister were taken to the Genesis facility to be subjected to the horrible processes developed in part, ironically, by Sunspark's own parents. After the treatment, Sunspark lost all memory of his previous life, and was separated from his sister.
At first he was placed in the military research facility, as his mutant abilities made him a candidate for the super-soldiers program. Upon testing, it was discovered that Sunspark's high IQ and mental agility, which had survived the mutation process unscathed, made him suitable for advanced training in the special services division, where he was classed as a Beta (High powered mutant), pending possible promotion to Alpha (Maximum powered mutant). During this period he was subjected to high-intensity physical and mental training, honing his powers for the purposes of making him into an awesome military weapon.
About a year ago, Sunspark was taken by Dr Suresh Bhatt and redirected into a special program designed to reclaim or neutralise escaped abnormals. Dr Bhatt was keen to outdo his rivals, especially Drs Sterling and Chernokova, who had worked on the recapture program with varying degrees of success. Dr Sterling had produced the infamous ALEX cyborg, which was applying the keen yet limited abilities of its AI to solving the mutant problem. Meanwhile, Dr Chernokova had focused solely on producing mutant super soldiers, individuals gifted with extreme fighting abilities at the expense of other skills.
Dr Bhatt saw a gap in the program and decided to be the first one to fill it: he would produce an abnormal with great fighting abilities, but with its higher cognitive functions intact. Such a unit would be able to pass as a human, track down and observe renegade abnormals and dispose of or reclaim them. Its intuitive human capacities including the ability to think like a human and empathise with its opponents would give it an edge over Dr Sterling's precious AI. Of course, releasing such a mutant into society would be a grave risk. It would have to be carefully monitored. But there was no success without risk of failure.
Dr Bhatt got to work on Sunspark's high intelligence, training him to pass as an ordinary human and sending him on gradually more demanding field tests. With the recent raid on Armada HQ, the government has discovered that rebel mutant groups are becoming more organised and dangerous. The time has come for Sunspark to be deployed on his greatest assignment.
