Introduction

An apocalypse has struck, chaos has descended, where do you go? It has been approximately a week into the apocalypse, the electricity is out and water doesn't run. You are a mostly unprepared survivor in this madness. The government said to stay inside as the millitary will host evacuations, but this never happened. Fight for your life, trust nobody, and whatever happens - Survive!

Toggle Rules

1. The works of George Romero never existed in this world, so do not refer to the undead as zombies.

2. Be realistic, you can't survive weeks without eating or drinking and you can't kill millions of zombies with just a hatchet.

3. Do not kill others characters without their OOC permission and an IC reason.

Lydia almost screamed from the shock when she heard the man, she looked at him, her heart racing. "It's you! From the roof!" she eventually whispered after catching her breath. Lydia stood up and cracked a brief smile, "How did you escape the roof?" she asked. Lydia shook her head, she didn't actually want an answer, all she needed was company. She peeked her head outside the alley onto the streets, far too many walkers to walk down the street openly. Lydia held her gun, gently gesturing the man to follow her. As she hunched over she gently walked down the street in a crouched manner. She took a sidewalk and tried any building she could for an unlocked door. By the time she got some length down the street she found a door into a clothes shop. A couple of walkers twisted their necks Lydia's way, limping towards her "God damnit..." she whispered, "Hurry, get inside" she said to the man who was behind her. She barged through the door and ran inside, gun at the ready.

The store was sufficently lit by the glass panels outside, so she could see most of the store. Lydia stayed crouched and brushed strands of hair off her face, pale with nerves. As the walkers outside picked up pace she found shelter near a rack of clothes at the back of the store, near a perfume stand. In order to cover up her and her newfound partners scent she sprayed a ton of perfume around the room, causing her to cough a lot. She slid down behind the clothes rack and ripped into her backpack, she took out a bottle of water, a can of tuna and a can opener. "Don't suppose you have a spoon do you?"

He followed her, noting that she liked to take the lead. He smirked when she sprayed the perfume, clever girl. She took out several items, a bottle of water and a can of tuna among them. She had asked him for a spoon. He thought for a moment and reached into his bag, handing her a spoon from a side pocket. "Here you are." He sighed and relaxed a bit, "Too much running in such a short amount of time, your friends dropped into a sewer, only one came out." He pulled out his canteen and took a large swig, the cool water calming his nerves somewhat.

He payed close attention to the windows, watching a few Rotters shamble by. Keith took out a granola bar and quickly scarfed it down, needing the quick sugar boost for his system.

In response to his words, Lydia looked concerned, she prayed that it was Alex who had made it out, yet praying never did anything. She opened the can of tuna with her can opener and gulped it down with the spoon like a hungry pig. She was starving, it was about five in the afternoon and she hadn't eaten all day. While she carefully took some small sips of water, she offered him some tuna. Granola bars wouldn't be enough to last him all day. As they had nothing better to do, Lydia decided to spark a conversation. Or whatever you could call a conversation after the apocalypse. "The name's Lydia, your name?" she talked quietly as not to alert any walkers.

Lydia continued to drink the water until she had a quarter of it left, she offered her water to him too.

Alex watched the man's dareing escape from the rooftop, slightly impressed by its success. After watching him run around the corner Alex stopped to check the contents of Jak's bag. Unzipping it he found some spare ammo a bottle of purified water, two road flares and the last decoy. He was about to close it when something caught his eye, a pack of cigarettes, with four in the packaging. "Son of a bitch..." he could almost force out a smile. He slid the road flares into his belt and the ciggerets into his pocket. The bottle of water he slid underneath his vest and the cigarettes he put in his pocket. then slideing the bag under the car Alex took stock of the situation, the horde was less in number but still spread out among the street. He couldent follow the man without attracting them unless...

Standing up he chucked the decoy into the middle of them, then made hell dead for leather towards the corner, he was halfway there when he realized the decoy had failed. Now the undead were coming for him. Stopping in mid path he drew his gun and took steady aim, his first shot hit a walker directly in the skull. With barely a pause he put down another one while backing up. His back hit the wall of a building and he fired off two more rounds. They were close now, almost within reach. He drew the 34. and placed the barrel under his jaw. His finger was tightening on the trigger when he saw the fire escape nearby, it was risky but he holstered his guns and made a mad dash for it, twisting out of the grip of the walkers that almost caught him. He reached the escape and quickly climbed the ladder, then put a few bullets into the braces. Causeing it too fall of completely, and isolate him above the horde. "Out of the frying pan.."

He gratefully took some of the tuna, thanking her for her generosity. "I'm Keith, I guess it's nice to meet you Lydia." He paused for a moment deciding on whether or not to ask her about her circumstances for being here, and then decided against it. He knew that if he was asked the same question he would rather not answer it. He heard a few distant gunshots and smiled somewhat "Sounds like your guy is still alive." He pulled out a small white bottle and opened it, shaking a small pill out and swallowing it. Soon he would need to find more, but he would cross that bridge when he came to it.

Lydia stared curiously at the bottle, she looked up at the man and sighed. "We have to get the hell out of here," she whispered to him, she was content on escaping. She felt physically sick staying in the store, especially as she could hear walker growls. Her heart was constantly racing, she felt as if she could have a heart attack. While Keith finished his tuna and the water she told him to leave it in the store, and told him her fairly small list of things. Judging by his uniform she knew what he did, and assumed he would know a nearby police station for ammo. "I don't suppose you know where the nearest police station is? I need .44 magnum rounds for my revolver," she called quietly.

While she zipped up her backpack one of the dead limped by, Lydia froze in horror, hiding by the clothes rack and hoped the incredibly strong perfume smell would hide her own scent. It went on its way and ignored the panicking survivors. She breathed a small sigh of relief, the more she conserved ammo the better.

Alex reloaded his 9mm, it only had two clips left. It was only now that he had wished he'd grabbed Jake's gun and ammo. Then again he supposed some things couldn't be helped, he took a drink of what little water he had left, then poured the last couple of drops down into the mass of undead that flocked around the ladder. Then dropped the bottle into the middle of them. He looked around, considering his options, the ladder further up was broken so he couldn't go to the roof. He dare not risk jumping and running for it. Turning the boarded up window next to him caught his eye. He hadn't used it already because he had no clue what was behind but he felt like he had little choice now.

A few kicks was all it took to break the boards, he easily slid into the window with his weapon at the ready. It was a small apartment, yet extremely dark. Turning on his light he noticed blood stains on the walls, but could hear no movement in the room. Moving cautiously he walked into the kitchen, quickly finding the fridge. He opened it to find nothing but some rotting food, afterwords he tried the sink which refused to yield any water. With a sigh he left and moved towards another room, this one held some promise. In the form of an old gas powered generator. Carefully placing his light so it shone on the generator he opened the gas compartment and looked into it, discovering a decent amount of gas. Whoever lived here must have died before they could use it. Leaving the generator he checked the door out, but hearing moans from outside he decided it was best to leave it shut, instead he returned to the fridge and pulled out a gallon of spoiled milk. After pouring it down the drain he walked to the room with the generator and used an old tube he found laying around to siphon the gas into the jug, filling it about halfway.

Placing the jug by the window he was about to climb out when something tackled him, knocking his gun from his hand but making it where the light was just pointing his way. It was one of the undead, pinning him down it tried to bite his neck, but he was able to grab it just under the jaw and hold it back while struggling to grab his knife. I am not..dieing...here! He rolled over so he was on top and drew the knife, digging all eight inches right up through the jaw and into it's brain. Panting he slowly stood up and checked for bites, thankful to find none. Grabbing the jug of gas he stepped back out onto the fire escape.

Keith shook his head, "the closest Police Station would be about a 2 mile walk east of here, but that's right by the hospital." He checked his pistol's magazine and sighed. "It wouldn't be easy, and I can't say that it hasn't been looted yet, so it could be a trip worth nothing." He grabbed his bag and placed his hand on her shoulder, deadly serious "I... I've lost too many people to this fucking apocalypse, we need to find your friend."

Alex pushed some gravel off the fire escape onto the walkers, there were just as many if not more of them now. He took the jug and held it over the horde, till it had completely drained and covered the majority of them. "They say, that death is just a matter of time." He took out a cigarette and placed it in his mouth. "I say" Pulling out a road flare he popped it over his knee and it erupted into flame. "That time." he used the flare to light the cigarette than held the flare over the horde. "Is a matter of perspective." He dropped the burning flare onto the gas covered horde, they erupted into a mass of flames. While they screamed they began running around and splitting up, Alex dropped to the ground and wove his way through the stench of burning flesh and flaming undead. He reached a police car that was with a few other cars on the road and bashed in the windshield, in the glove box he found a few boxes of mixed ammo, he could sort through it later, he was more interested it the matches he found. Turning he saw the horde, now burning as they ran, coming after him. He ripped off a strip from his shirt and opened the gas tank, stuffing the make shift rag inside. Then lit a match and set it on fire. Alex ran about ten feet when it exploded, sending shrapnel everywhere and throwing Alex into a ditch.

Lydia jumped in shock, she heard explosions. Alot of explosions. All the walkers in the store limped outside to find the noise, and Lydia's face lit up in delight. But then her smile faded "I'm afraid we can't go back for Alex, he has to find us. That explosion will attract the walkers attention for long enough, let's go," she spoke with confidence. She stood up once she was sure all the walkers were gone.

Instead of listening to Keith's reason, she crouched and cautiously went down the sidewalk, using wrecked cars or any other debris as cover. As they got through the street Lydia was surprised to find the roads empty, free of walkers. One or two decapitated ones, but Lydia didn't think about them. Then she saw it... There was a nightclub, the same one she performed in during the apocalypse, there were security guards with guns inside, the perfect oppertunity. While she considered her oppertunities one of the dead limped at her. It was clear she had to go inside. She tried the door, a tad stiff but unlocked. Inside it stank of flesh and death, the decay of skin. She gagged as a result of the vile smell.

Business had to be dealt with, she immediately started searching the bodies, this was the first site of the Atlanta outbreak. Security guards had little, clearly they had already been looted. She was wary of them coming back, but that wasn't the first thing on her mind.

Aiden yawned, looking around drousily as he awoke from his makeshift hammoc in the fabric stores put above their doors to sheild the door from the sun. He usually found places like this to sleep, where the undead couldn't reach, but low enough where he wouldn't make much of a sound when landing on the ground. His dad had taught him to hunt before he left, his dad not him. He scanned the area. A few walkers, but nothing big. That's what he was thinking until he heard the cawing and froze. The birds never sang or chirped and DEFINATLY never cawed. He slowly turned his head to see a ginormous flock of ravens coveing the rooftops of surronunding buildings. Shit. This was gonna suck. He rolled off his make shift hammock and hit the ground in a dead run, no pun intended. The ravens went ballistic, cawing and taking flight to chase him down the street as he ran full speed , trying to find a store that was unlocked.
