July 21st, 1981.
7 hours ago, at 0500 July 21, 1981, the body of 17-year-old Manolo "Manny" Restrepo was found by a jogger on the banks of Nestor Creek after being reported missing at 0143 July 21. The details are as follows.
A quiet, idyllic suburb of Washington, D.C., Grover Park was the perfect place for Ambassador Restrepo of Colombia to live with his family during his tenure in the United States. Grover Park boasts a low crime rate, beautiful scenery, and the convenient amenities of a small-to-moderate city, all within a reasonable commute to the Capital City.
But tragedy struck in July of 1981, when the Ambassador's son Manny was murdered. His body was dumped in Nestor Creek, still wearing the same clothes he wore to the pool party the day before. Naturally, suspicion fell on the attendees of the party, but Manny's friends have their own suspects.
Birds of a feather flock together. That's what they say, and for these friends, it is absolutely true. They know each other's deepest secrets, the darkest shames no one else knows. They've built their friendships on shared secrecy, and have become highly influential in the school despite--or perhaps because of--their penchant for deceit.
These six students--from sixteen to eighteen--have carefully crafted reputations hiding everything from their sexualities--like Manny--to their economic status to their past misdeeds. Secrets are overlapping, but one things for sure: they're in this together. They know for a fact that none of them killed their de facto leader.
Now more than anything they are searching for answers.
Name: Manolo Restrepo
Age: 17
Status: Deceased
FC:Alberto Rosende
Secret: Manny hid his homosexuality from his wealthy, socially prominent, strict Roman-Catholic family.
Manny was always the life of the party. He was the undisputed king of Grover Prep and the perfect son to his important parents. He was always a good kid, but he knew if he ever came out to his parents he would be disowned. Or worse. His friends were the only people they knew for sure knew about his sexuality, besides past relationships. At the moment, their best theory is that someone found out and killed him for it.
Age: 17
FC: Tom Holland
Secret: Jack is a bisexual
scholarship
student. He hides both his
sexuality and his family's
socioeconomic status.

Every student of Grover Park Preparatory School who attended the party, thrown by a member of Manny's clique, is a suspect to the police, but a few stick out in the minds of Manny's friends. They also have a couple other theories.
Keith Derringer
Captain of the football team, Keith views himself as the rightful king of Grover Prep. The only problem? No one actually likes. Being handsome and athletic only gets you so far.
Ambassador Rogelio Restrepo
Despite his stellar reputation, Rogelio Restrepo is not always a calm and loving father, and Manny's friends know that.
SECTION TO BE CONTINUED
1. Grammar is very important to me. I'm not gonna mind a typo or two or putting in vernacular or whatever, but if you write like a little kid, it will very much bother me. This is pretty much the only hard and fast rule beyond the typical. Who gives a fuck about an Oxford Comma? Me.
2. Please reserve in the OOC. I would like you to give me a gender, a faceclaim, and a first name or nickname just so I can fill out the front page a bit as soon as possible, but the only thing I REQUIRE is gender.
3. This roleplay is centered around human rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and attitudes surrounding LGBTQ+ people in 1981. If you have a problem with this, do not sign up. Certain characters, mostly NPCs will display bigoted attitudes and etc.. I'm still deciding whether or not to use period-appropriate language on these issues, but I'm leaning toward no in order to make it less upsetting and more accessible to everyone.
4. We don't live in 1981, and faceclaims dressed like they do are not going to be easy to find. It's not required or even preferred that you use an 80s-looking FC. If you find one, fantastic, but it really doesn't matter as long as your character is good.
5. This isn't really a rule, but I want you to be as involved in the plot as I am. I have a solid idea on how it ends (yes, I've picked a killer), but if you have ideas (beginning, middle, or end), feel free to discuss them in the OOC or PM me. I would absolutely love that.
[center]The Character Sheet[center]
I'm working on one, but use whatever you want.
just make sure you have the basic character info--name, age, gender, sexuality, personality, appearance, history--and your secrets.
Secrets don't have to be huge, they just to have an impact on who your character is and how they would be perceived if it were to get out.
Thank you for reading, I hope you join me!
