Introduction

“The pain comes from knowing that we have never been safe, and therefore will never be safe again. It comes from knowing we can never be so ignorant again. It comes from knowing we can never be children again. Losing innocence. Remembering heaven. That was the essence of hell.”
- John Jakes

ImageEveryone at some point loses their innocence, though some have been hit with the reality harder than others. Your character is one of those people. Whether it was death, friends, or themselves that was the cause of the loss of innocence, your character has been suffering and desperately wants a way out of their misery.

Image
One day while taking a stroll you realize that you’ve been walking into a dark alley though you have no idea you were heading in that direction or why you suddenly decided to do so. At the end of the alley if you see a figure who approaches you (if your character is a male he meets Scarlet; If your character is female she meets Nicholas). The figure tells you that you seem like someone who has been through immense suffering and is desperately looking for a way to turn things around. He/She offers you a chance to become a part of a corporation known as “The Gift of Innocence.” The company helps people like you to gain the strength to move on with their lives while providing a way to earn money and have a home with people like you that understand your pain. You are about to say something when suddenly everything turns black.

When you wake up your head hurts at the back as though someone had knocked you out cold. You look around to see where you are and realize you’re not in the dark alley anymore but in a well furnished modern looking room. You wondered how you got here and what day it is when you remember vaguely that before you were knocked out the mysterious person had given you a letter that you put into your pocket. Curious, you reached in, found the letter, and started reading the contents.

June 30, 2013

To Whom It May Concern:

Do not be alarmed by the change of setting. You have been brought to the corporation and have been taken care of by my staff after you had a sudden fainting spell.

My name is Sylvester Cromwell, but I am most commonly referred to as The Benefactor. I am the proud owner of The Gift of Innocence Corporation, and I am pleased to inform you that you have been chosen to become a part of my Special Working Staff. As part of my special staff, you are given your own room and other basic living needs; however this only extends to you and no other family members. The room you are in now is the room you will reside in, and the number is in the bottom right corner of your envelope in case you forget. You will also be receiving “The Gift of Innocence” which is unique to each person that receives it.

You may be wondering what this “Gift of Innocence” is and why you have been selected. My company is not for the privileged but for the disadvantaged. I give second chances to those who have been through hard times, whatever the situation, and I give them a “Gift of Innocence” that will help them move on. It is a special ability that gives you what you have lost along with your innocence and your tool in your job. Although I can give you your innocence back, it is still your choice whether you choose to move on or not.

When you are ready, you may head out of your room and meet with either of my Recruiters Scarlet or Nicholas. I will be meeting with you and your co-workers individually in my office in room 656 on the 6th floor to discuss with you any questions you may have as well as give you your Gift of Innocence. While you wait, do get to know each other and engage in some friendly chatter, as you will be working closely with them for awhile. I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely:

The Benefactor of Innocence

Hello, and welcome to “The Gift of Innocence!” In this roleplay your characters are the brokenhearted people who have come to work for “The Benefactor,” hoping to find a new life. He is a well-known company owner and philanthropist who wants to help others recover from their loss, heavily influenced by the birth of his daughter Kaylee. He promises to give you “The Gift of Innocence” which is a power based on how you lost your innocence. You will definitely use this power to perform your duties though they can be used outside of work (A Special Note: A reminder to the potential of godmodding. Please ask before you give any hits, physical, mental, or related to your power, to reduce this. Thank you! :) ). When you reserve your character, color, and room, FateWhisperer will send you the powers and the jobs. As the Benefactor has said, you will be living within the corporation and your characters have basic living needs met there. Your rooms are all in the second floor. When reserving your room, girls reserve rooms 201-250 while guys reserve rooms 251-298(Scarlet is in Room 200 while Nicholas is in Room 299). Nicholas and Scarlet are the male and female recruiters respectfully. They will be your guides as well as your monitors for any funny business.

The story revolves around the lives of the new workers, the recruiters, the Benefactor, as well as his daughter (whether NPC or not). The workers can develop and improve, stay the same, fall into a deeper hole of despair, make friends, make enemies, anything within the bounds of the Benefactor’s wishes. His company after all is about promoting the greater good. Lots of twists and turns can happen here considering the powers, the jobs, and the mission of the Benefactor so keep your eyes peeled, sit back, and enjoy the ride!
By the way, here’s a special shout out to FateWhisperer’s “special friend” Browni Tree (he’s not on RoleplayGateway but he likes to be called that) for helping us come up with some of the powers and jobs for the roleplay.

"So, you're the asshole that kidnapped me...who the hell do you think you are?"

Daniel was barely able to stifle a laugh as Mr. Doom and Gloom hollered at the blonde man in front of the desk. Well, I wouldn’t call him an asshole, Daniel mused, but he could’ve called or something. Sent out a memo. Despite his sarcasm, Daniel was a bit on edge. Never in his life had he met these people and yet here they all were, brought here by one guy hell bent on giving them a second chance. It all seemed a little too hard to believe.

At the sound of the man clearing his throat, Daniel’s eyes were drawn to him, giving him his undivided attention. “Welcome. My name is Sylvester Cromwell but I am usually addressed as The Benefactor. Although some of you may know that from reading the letter. Before we begin, I should let you know that should you desire to return to your rooms, the room number is placed in the back of the letter. If you by chance did not read your letter in your room or did not bring it with you and don’t remember your room, I will give it to you before we give you a tour of the places you will be working in the town.”

The Benefactor motioned to the fiery redhead and the flirtatious man to move aside, and Daniel’s brow cocked in curiosity, moving forward as instructed despite his immediate inclination to back away. The Benefactor held up his gloved hands, palms pointed at the group of strangers that seemed to have huddled together since the beginning of the man’s introductory speech. Daniel felt a strange presence as the tension in the room shifted, a faint wind picking up around them as the books rattled on their shelves. Daniel’s eyes flickered about the room, taking in everything but saying nothing as he felt something tug on his heartstrings. A faint glow came from underneath The Benefactor and the recruits. It was misshapen, but there was a light jade spell circle with intricate symbols that reminded him of something he saw on Supernatural. The same glow shrouded Daniel, cloaking him and a few others in its luminosity as they began to panic. To his own surprise, Daniel wasn’t as freaked out as he ought to be.

However, the Benefactor was quick to reassure them, “Don’t worry and don’t be afraid. He is right now observing you and trying to gather information of your pasts, of your fears, of your strengths, and of sorrows. He is the one that will bestow your powers which you will utilize in your work. These powers are your Gifts of Innocence. You must now open your hearts, minds, and souls, and accept the Gift of Innocence as parts of you now.”

Who the fuck is He, Daniel mused, a little taken aback. Regardless, as the Benefactor closed his eyes, the aura around Daniel began to change. What was once a brilliant light emerald glow had transformed into a vivid orange radiance shrouding his feet. But at his feet it stayed. Nope, nope, nu-uh. I am not accepting any weird ass powers from some unnamed He.

Man, we get powers, this is awesome.” Maki beamed in glee. Daniel glanced in his friend’s direction, taking his giddiness in with a chuckle. It was endearing, to say the least, to see this timid young man so adamant about receiving his gift.

Dude, you are way too happy about this.” Daniel replied as he was engulfed entirely in that iridescent tangerine resonance. He glanced down, looking at his palms as they shined brighter than the rest of him. Turning his palms upwards, he caught sight of two symbols being engraved in light. He winced as the symbols were scorched into the flesh—on his left was the astronomical symbol for Mars, on the right it was the symbol for Venus. What the hell? He mused, shaking them feverishly until they dissipated. There was no mark left behind, no scar left in its wake even though he’d experienced the sensation of being branded.

Quickly, Daniel glanced over at Maki, catching sight of a bright mint aura shrouding his form. Further in his peripheral he saw the man he sang to earlier become engulfed in a sinister crimson glow, like the color of blood. He suppressed a shiver as the man’s cerulean gaze was dipped in jet blank ink, the substance nearly brimming over the edge of his eyelids. Daniel panted slightly, his throat constricting in near fright. Then, all the light vanished as The Benefactor nearly collapsed. The pretty boy quickly rushed to his side and helped him up, the older man responding with a near silent ‘Thank you’.

Daniel straightened himself up, wiping the palms of his hands against the front of his jeans. He ignored the man as he moved to each one of them separately. Though a part of him was just dying to know what they had done to get themselves caught up in this situation. But Daniel was dealing with his own problems at the moment, muttering to himself in an attempt to figure out why those symbols had been on their hands and what exactly this so-called ‘gift’ was. His interest sparked as The Benefactor stood in front of his friend, withholding his own surprise to discover that Maki had once been in The Mafia. And then the gloomy fellow…. Convicted of a crime he didn’t commit? Daniel was in awe. These people were in much deeper shit than he was. His life wasn’t perfect by any means, but in comparison…

And then The Benefactor stopped in front of him. “Finally Daniel, the man who was supposed to have been a father.” Once again, Daniel felt his airway constrict. His jaw clenched in pent up aggression, his first initial reaction being to strike the man standing before him. “I’m so sorry about the miscarriage and your wife. Trust me, I know how it feels to lose your significant other.” Daniel averted his gaze for a moment, his fists clenching despite the man’s apology. He only finally met the man’s gaze when he knocked himself out of his own reverie. Daniel collected himself, stowing away his anger as his curiosity reared its ugly head. “Anyway, you will be a Fertility Specialist, being able to let others have children the way they want them to be and at any time they wish for the baby to develop. The clients will also be able to pick specific traits for their unborn child. It should be noted that you can only induce pregnancy on willing women. And I would advise you please, do not make any of my staff pregnant. It would be very troublesome to have many little children even though Kaylee would love to have siblings.”

Daniel smirked, despite himself, ducking his head as the man backed away. He listened passively as the pretty boy recruiter, known as Nicholas, shared his own life story—appropriate, Daniel decided, since everyone else’s was put on display. He was slightly bitter about that, but as The Benefactor asked for any questions, the scene that ensued brought that lopsided grin back on his face.

"Why was I chosen?”

"Apparently, you weren’t paying attention when this guy,” Jasper gestured to The Benefactor. "Was giving an overview of everyone’s life story. Obviously, simple bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here,” Daniel suppressed a laugh, covering his smile with his palm as the gloomy guy looked to the guy in charge, "I have a real question, Mr. B. Can I just get the hell out of here?” He didn’t wait for a response before he shook his head, waving his hand as he turned for the door. "You know, what? You don’t even have to answer that. I’m going to just go.” Daniel watched him leave, his eyes lingering as well as the smile on his face, slightly bemused as his mystery lady followed after his mystery guy.

"Yes, I have one too.. and only one! Why does the elevator not work?”

Daniel immediately turned his head. His expression was comically serious as he raised his hand half-hearted, holding up a finger to interject, “I agree with the former hooker,” he blurted out, “Why is that a thing?” he asked, with a shrug, shoving his hands in his pockets. “I don’t know, it just seems like a lot of walking.”

ImageScarlet waited patiently as Sylvester did all his magic tricks and moved aside even before he signaled her and Nick to do so. As she always did before the empowering, she listened cautiously almost studying every words muttered as he gifted each and everyone in the room. As predicted some were baffled and startled while others were scared out of their wits. She smiled in amusement at the scene, this was always her favorite part of her job after all. She saw Nick glancing at some girls, as always, and rolled her eyes at the flirting fool.

Obviously she did not say anything when Sylvester signaled her to reveal her own... gift, 'they'll find out sooner or later...' was all she could think of.

Finally she heard some recruits ask questions, 'that's a new one...' she thought sarcastically. Grey asked about why she had been chosen while Harper asked about the elevator, Scar let out a laugh at that one but nobody seemed to hear it as they were all still focused on Sylvester. She couldn't help but to grin as Jasper dissed her too, "Obviously, simply bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here," but it wasn't until he tried leaving that her mood was truly ruined. Immediately Scarlet followed the guy outside Sylvester's office and quickly blocked the guy who was about her height, with the help of her high-heels of course. She almost let out a growl in annoyance, from the beginning they had not gotten off the right foot with his "Eat shit and die" and her "Fuck you".

"Look asshole or broken toy whichever suits your delicate needs." she said almost throwing knives, "I could give less of a shit about your tantrums and your oh so dramatics, in fact they are quite enjoyable, keeps things interesting anyways. But, you are going nowhere, not now that you have been given your power" she paused for a second but not long enough to let him to interrupt her. "You just said so yourself, everyone you just saw in there and myself included are indeed fucked up in ways that not even you could imagine" she paused for a moment finally letting go of her tight grip on his shoulder. "But this is your last chance and that's all you've got left".

The redhead moved back giving her back to Jasper returning to Sylvester's office.

Alton felt his body tense up when the surroundings began lighting up. That wasn’t a good thing, glowing people were never a good thing, they weren’t good in tele programs, and they weren’t good in the real world either. He glanced around at the others, each of them seemed to be experiencing the same phenomenon as he was. Each of them glowing and reacting in their own time. The Benefactor and those other two didn’t seem bothered by the occurrence, despite The Benefactor also glowing, so Alton forced himself to relax. Though he admitted that the temperamental man was interesting, his anger was interesting. He seemed like the type of person that wasn’t afraid to hit, and by the looks of it he could probably pack quite the punch.

He was distracted from the angry man when the glowing subsided that The Benefactor began talking again. It seemed each of these people had their own background, their own stories of pain and hardship, just has Alton had. He listened carefully though, identifying each face with their pain, he could probably do a few profiles from memory, distort them with their issues. He wondered if that was immoral, of disturbed, but he decided no one would see them in the end so it wouldn’t matter what they thought.

He felt a wave rock his body, it was cool and slow and dissipated just as The Benefactor turned his attention towards him and a ditzy looking girl, her name was Fiona. He hadn’t a care for the job he was given, he had never really cared for animals before, but he supposed he could have gotten a worse job. He eyed up his supposed partner again, she seemed like she could be tolerable to work with. “Alton, you will help Fiona rescue animals from their various dangerous situations. To aid you, you will have the ability to not feel any pain, for you have been abused too many times without reason. It should be noted that the effect of feeling no pain lasts both in and out of the job. Make sure however that you rest periodically.”

Alton felt himself pale, his fingers twitched and he felt his fingers move back to his forearm, his fingers digging into his skin. There was nothing though, just a soft pressure against his arm. It was dull and offered none of the relief he usually got to scratching. He bite his lip, eyes darting around the room for a moment, he felt very twitchy and very uncomfortable standing in that room. He looked at The Benefactor, if this man had known so much about him why would he be given a gift that went so entirely against everything that kept him stable. He watched as Jasper left, seeing an opening for him to get out as well.

“I’m getting out of here too.” He muttered as he shoved his hands in his pockets before making a beeline for the door. He felt like he was on the verge of a panic attack, not to mention it was turning into a sob fest in there, something he wasn’t too keen about sticking around for. He began towards the door when the red headed woman slipped ahead of him. He walked out just as she was stepping aside. His eyes flickered between the two of them. Both seemed rather abrasive and crude, traits that he admired in people, and he cleared his throat. “Listen, I’m just going to go back to my flat, the atmosphere in there right now is pitiful and I don’t want to deal with it. So if you don’t mind, I’m going to try to come to terms with the fact that pain isn’t available to me anymore.”

The dark haired man felt his fingers move back down to his forearm, his nails digging into his skin and him not being able to feel the acute pain it should have been producing.

ImageJasper reached into his pocket for his pack of Newports, aching for a smoke. All of this drama, magic, and memories about his past were gnawing at him and he was doing what he did best; he pushed away the assistance and ran from it. The pads of his fingers brushed the box when he heard the click of high heels against the floor. He felt her hand on his shoulder and he froze, almost turning around to slap her hand away, but he refrained, hold back his pending anger...that was, until she spoke.

"Look asshole or broken toy whichever suits your delicate needs." she said almost throwing knives, "I could give less of a shit about your tantrums and your oh so dramatics, in fact they are quite enjoyable, keeps things interesting anyways. But, you are going nowhere, not now that you have been given your power." He opened his mouth to interrupt her, but she continued. He simply shook his head in annoyance. She was like a damn bee buzzing in his ear and he damn sure wanted to slap her away. To stop himself from spitting acidic words her way, Jasper placed a cigarette between his lips before grabbing his lighters and flicking it to life. As soon as the ember was lit, Jasper stared at the red head with lifeless eyes, hiding his brewing frustration. "You just said so yourself, everyone you just saw in there and myself included are indeed fucked up in ways that not even you could imagine."

Jasper's eyes flashed, rage fester inside of him, growing into an inferno of caustic words. I blew his smoke out of his nose and took the cigarette from his lip and tapped some ash onto the floor merely out of disrespect. “Listen, bitch. Last time I checked, you bought me here against my will. I don’t remember telling you that I wanted a second chance or something like that, so you can shove that ‘we can save you’ shit right up your ass, okay. You think just because you’re huffing and puffing at me, I’m just going to listen? Oh, you are going to be disappointed because I’m staying my ass, right here.”

"But this is your last chance and that's all you've got left".

“Really, now?” Jasper said, puffing more smoke, giving her a cynical glare as he leaned against the wall. “Well, I guess what I do with it is my choice and you can fuck off.” He puffed more smoke as she turned and stomped off. He sighed, picking at his shirt idly as one thought roamed through his head. Bitch…

Image“Apparently, you weren’t paying attention when this guy,” Grey tucked her hair behind her ear and listened to the boy. “Was giving an overview of everyone’s life story. Obviously, simple bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here.” She didn't let Jasper's rudeness faze her, she had been listening to the Benefactor with open ears and noticed him saw how the rude young man had been blamed for a murder he had convicted, meaning he had been convicted for years and probably still mad at the world for it. His words actually made her feel better, they were a reality check to the bigger picture. She simpered genuinely and walked slowly over to her new boss. "You've saved me a few years of school," she was going to begin giving him the thank you he wholeheartedly deserved, "since you know a lot I assume you know how I've been studying psychology in hopes to one day become a psychologist, well basically you've given me the chance to be one in a way." Laughing at the thought of all the studying she had done to let finally have the chance handed to her by a stranger felt extremely good, "So thank you, and I appreciate my gift, I hope having it will help me open up my true emotions to myself as it helps me do so with others." She had never doubted in complete about this, but it turned out better than she thought. She was in a way pleased by this all.

Just like Nicky she hasn't gotten to introduce herself, she was already known which still didn't count as really introducing in her book, and she felt like the Benefactor should get one for helping her. Holding her hand out to him she cocked her head to the right slightly and smiled, "I'm Grey, and I think it's going to be an honor working for you." Letting her hand slowly fall back to her side she decided she might continue talking to the man, she felt like she owed him something in return and at the moment she had nothing to give. "Before I was brought here," saying so she shot a glance at Nicky before returning her eyes back to the blonde man, "I owned my own coffee shop... which I think you already know as well." What do you say to a man that you think knows your whole life story? Grey didn't know this answer, and neither did she notice the soft warmth her eyes were taking on as she steadily grew more fond and comfortable of the place. "I guess that's a long winded way of saying I know how to brew great coffee and have never really had a boss. Well, at the library I worked at I technically had one, but we never spoke. I'd just go in and place books where they belonged..." squinting and a playful point of a finger at him she laughed some, "but I'm sure you knew that too, Mr. Benefactor." She didn't think she had to add the mister, but she wanted to. She liked the thought of having someone in charge over her so she didn't have to make any decisions for her own.

"Oh!" She said with the thought of decisions, "My closet, I think it's broken." With the ending she made a funny face of how that sounded, Oh yes my good sir, you see my closet has decided not to give me clothing like a good closet should. She shuck her head, "I mean it only had one outfit in it, this," saying so as she gestured to what she was dressed in, "will I only be receiving an outfit a day or will I get more clothing. And also, if I only do get one outfit who picks it out?" The topic was more for conversation the question. She didn't care if she got one outfit a day or was stuck in one outfit the rest of her life. Grey wouldn't mind if she just received one outfit, all that meant was she wouldn't have to stress to find a appropriate outfit for each day, it'd just be there waiting for her in the closet. Also, she couldn't complain about her closets sense of style. What she had on was nice and looked good on her, she probably wouldn't have been able to pick something so simple out herself in a million years. A more important question, at least to her, rose to mind. "I chugged a whole bottle of something in my fridge, why am I not drunk?" It had to have been at least an hour and she figured the alcohol would have worked its way into her system, all she felt was warm and almost happy inside, like she never had before. "What was it, happy juice?" Asking as soon as she had thought of it she raised a brow. Maybe it had been, the lack of her drunkenness and the raise of her mood would lead to such hypothesis. It could have been some drug... The bottle had had words on it, but she didn't read it though, she didn't find it important at the time, but now she was second guessing herself for drinking it.

Novia allowed herself to be herded up the next four flights of stairs along with the others, cautiously remaining at the back of the pack to judge them all quietly. She somewhat enjoyed Scarlet's no-nonsense attitude, though she'd have to say that the seemingly kind Nicholas was her favorite while the smoking douchebag was her least favorite. With her hood off she was able to catch a better glimpse of the people around her - An even number of males and females. Strange. She noticed a bubbly girl immediately taking to Nicholas' side, flirting with him right off the bat. I've never seen a nose that brown on a girl so white. She snickered in her thoughts, shaking her head. Before she could assess the others, they arrived at their destination.

She found herself at the end of the formed line as they came into the Benefactor's office, expecting a slightly uninspiring speech. Which she was mostly right about. But what threw her off was the light snaking around her - The Benefactor said it was getting to know her to determine what power she would get. Once more she felt vulnerable and exposed, though it spiked her anger more this time as she clenched her fists. She forced herself to listen as he assessed everyone, making mental notes who to stay away from. And then. He came to her.

“Novia do not fear. Although I know that you are not legal here, let it be assured that your secret is safe with us and that I am not here to deport you. In fact come see me some time and I have connection that might help you get citizenship if you so desire. But in regards to your job, I know you are a bright person, yet you have been held back by poverty. Therefore you will be the Negotiator, negotiating with various salesmen for needed goods. If any of the workers or I need something we will turn to you for your negotiation skills will be so amazing it will be as though they cannot refuse. You will persuade them with "Do we have an accord?" and the item is yours! I trust that you are smart enough to know the correct amount to negotiate for, as you will have a budget to abide by.”

She almost couldn't believe her ears, taking a few steps back. Legal citizenship...? Supernatural negotiation powers...? Did he really want to give that to her? As she mulled over the situation, she realized that everyone was talking now. Well. She was done here. “Well, as much as I'd love to stay and join you all in being harassed and degraded by Nero of the 21st Century, I think I can manage to find something more stimulating to help me grasp onto what's going on. Thanks for the stuff, by the way. Love the kitchen design. But I really want my Audi back.” She was really beginning to wish she could find her gun right about now. But she would have to settle for something more productive.

Tipping a lazy salute, she politely made her way past everyone and left, going back the way that she had come with everyone else. Her key was drawn out of her pocket as she came to her door and went inside. Once more she was greeted by a vision of perfection. She left the door open some as she walked by the counter, dropping her keys there and kicking off her shoes. She headed back to her amazing room, dropping her clothes and tossing them in a hamper to trade in for yummy pajamas and a bandana. Her path was made to the kitchen where she worked fast to set out a dinner for herself. Steak, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, cheese, and tortillas surrounded her as she soon filled her new home with the sound of chopping and singing.

Image"It's not that easy," Noah was a bit surprised at her snapping at him and he wasn't really trying to put it the wrong way. He really did love Rosalina but, somehow he managed to fall out of love with her just because, of a little anxiety -that was probably an side effect from the drugs he was abusing. It made him twitch a little, not out of anger but, from past issues he didn't want to fix. "You know I loved you more than anything! I would have done anything for you, but you repaid me by leaving without reason-" He didn't say anything. How could he? He thought he deserved this. After he left her like that.

But, even if he thought of this now, he's going to forget and deny it in the end. Noah was always, Noah. He would be with anyone he pleased to be with and he'd do what he want, when he had wanted and he didn't care who hated it. That was him, the typically bad boy, the bad influence, the heart breaker; it was pretty funny because, he had no control over his life. His life was the video game and somewhere inside him was the controller.

"I still love you, and I probably always will. No matter how hard it is I have to learn to live with that." Looking down at her as she laid her head on his knee, he wanted to say sorry but, for some reason he couldn't bring himself to say it. It shocked him to hear that she still loved him and it kind of made him want to smile. But, he didn't. He truthfully had no idea what he had felt about her after all these years -since he was literally blinded by drugs and many other things that he'd been hooked on even before he met Rosalina. This love thing was really confusing to him, he knew how it felt but, he didn't know what it was.

"You have to live with hurting me though," Biting his lip, now that she said that, he is already living with hurting her, it got to him. He didn't like when other people were hurt, and he was one of those people who had hurt a lot of people just by dragging them down into his shitty life and leaving them there when he didn't think it was too late to leave. Running his hands through his hair,"I loved you more than anyone could ever love you and you left." He knew she loved him but, he didn't know she would be hurting -from him leaving- this much, even until now, and he hated seeing her like this. He didn't like seeing her cry, he tried his best to comfort her and rub her back gently. "I-"

"Good, okay folks it's time to go meet your new boss! Scar you can lead the boys first, I'll stay behind the girls to make sure they're protected." Looking over at the guy that walked in, he guessed he was the one that worked at this place. He then turned his head towards Rosalina and smiled as she grinned. "You're the only person I know here making us automatic best friends," He raised one of his eyebrows in confusion,"this time you just can't get up and leave me either, Noah." His eyes widened slightly as she kissed his cheek. He wondered how she had changed her mood so quickly. He had a feeling that it was his fault but, he didn't know why.

"How do I look though," He looked at her for a moment,"You look good." He smiled, remembering how important impressions were to her. "I can't make a bad first impression. You know how I am with impressions! Are my eyes red or puffy? Do I look pretty?" Chuckling at Rosalina,"No your eyes are fine and yes you do." Still the same girl he first met, it still was confusing how quick she altered her mood and he didn't want to bother her anymore by asking questions. "By the way you look perfect, very presentable!" Smiling, at the compliment, he still remembered every one of her words from a few minutes ago. He needed a smoke he need relief he needed something. "I think this is where we separate." Maybe he could get rid of this stress after he meets this Benefactor. Letting her help him up, he smiled and then he nodded. "I'll see you in a second!" He followed the nice looking redhead to a nice looking office, still hating the fact that the damn elevator was broken.

“Welcome. My name is Sylvester Cromwell but I am usually addressed as The Benefactor. Although some of you may know that from reading the letter. Before we begin, I should let you know that should you desire to return to your rooms, the room number is placed in the back of the letter. If you by chance did not read your letter in your room or did not bring it with you and don’t remember your room, I will give it to you before we give you a tour of the places you will be working in the town.” Damn, well he didn't read the part about bringing the damn letter, and he didn't really need a number he just needed to remember where he was at and go backwards. Noah did have a band to take care of so, he didn't want to stay here for long. He didn't think this would help him, he actually thought this was a waste of time. Wait, no. I take that back. How much time did he have to waste?

Looking down and then up at the male walking towards him,”Noah, you've abused drugs and even conjured your own, sometimes bringing others with you to your downfall. Now you will be a potions maker which is like a drug dealer only your potions are made through your gift of magic medicine. You will brew potions that will solve problems that the customer will have. Materials and the guide book will be provided by the Benefactor. However, the medicines are still drugs, which mean they have to be taken at certain dosages and in a limited amount of time. Make sure you take some funds with Rosalina.” Well, damn. Just put his business out there for the world to know. This was an easy job for him actually but, potions? Also, what type of problems would he be helping people with? He was a hard worker but, when it came to people and communication, he just wasn't good at it. Some of them might have nasty attitudes and he wasn't going to deal with that shit, and some of them might talk too damn much. Hell. This was better than going to some therapist, telling him some lies and giving him medication that he was probably going to sell.

Well, he guessed it made sense, it still freaked him the hell out but, he tried his best to keep that to himself. He wasn't going anywhere, he's been trying to get clean but, the more he tried the worse he got. So if it took kidnapping to get him to stay clean, the so be it. "Medicine man, sounds pretty interesting." Looking over at Rosalina, he smiled at the playful nudge. "I need a stress reliever." He mumbled, saying that to no one in particular.

"Plus, not everyone loves me. You should know that Aradia," with those words, Aradia flinches slightly, feeling a cut through her just as painful as it ought to be. She can't help but feel it to be an attack on herself, and bites the inside of her cheek so sharply that it feels as though it will bleed, clearing her mind with the passing pain. She's about to make some defensive statement, twice as sharp against the girl who doesn't have armor nearly as strong as the one that Aradia has come to wear every day. Too bad the armor didn't protect her from the bandaged wounds littering her still sore body. The girl moves slightly, taking a step back with her left leg, but this causes her to wince, feeling the pain of the deep cut in that leg, which rubs a bit against the gauze and is therefore irritated. "People love you too Aradia," Hailey adds in a gentle tone, but it only injures the bitter girl further, watching this person as she, in Aradia's mind, lies straight to her face. The slight softening she might have felt from the earlier statement, the fleeting vulnerability founded from surprise, is immediately sealed up as tightly as Aradia can manage to seal it. She retreats back within the mental armor like a child under their blankets to hide from the morning light or from monsters they imagine- from imaginary enemies dancing in the shadows across the wall.

"What a pretty fantasy," Aradia shoots back finally, the response clearly delayed by thought but said with a malice that cuts as poorly as a dull knife, but can spread sickness like a rusty one. Hailey is naive, that much Aradia has known ever since she first met the pretty little fool, but she never thought her so oblivious as to think that anyone might love her- that anyone might love Aradia, that is. Not as they love Hailey, the gentle girl who is a bit sick in the head, but saccharine enough to draw close a family and, before Aradia, some semblance of a life. Hasn't Hailey already received a chance for a second life, with that ideal family she was placed with and unconditionally accepted by? It burns in Aradia's veins, the knowledge that Hailey, for all of the luck that Aradia perceives in her, should be given the same second chance as a girl who grew up to the sound of broken glasses and tearing skin.

Now brooding, Aradia ignores Hailey's reassurance that the letter may have been accidentally forgotten, or that Aradia might not have seen it. Rather, she looks straight ahead upon the mention of continuing onward by those who seem to know precisely what they are doing. A lack of elevator is no concern to Aradia- her own apartment building's elevator was in a perpetual state of disrepair, and even when the management claimed that it was functional, only the bravest, or newest, of tenants would dare step foot in the suspicious -at best- vehicle. More than one person had been injured when it malfunctioned, and the machine was known to suddenly break down, leaving people stranded for time spanning from five minutes to five hours.

Almost immediately upon entering the room, Aradia's attention is grabbed by a young man who accuses an older man- the benefactor- of kidnapping them. Of course, that is the only word that can be used to describe the situation, and the young woman silently shares the anger and curiosity- not that she has a better place to return to. Aradia looks away from the Benefactor when he makes a note for the benefit of those who might not have found their letter, embarrassed and certainly not going to ask after her room number- she had memorized it before leaving anyway, not so careless as to leave without knowing it, even if she had planned to leave for good.

Any thoughts that Aradia may have had in regards to this strange man who introduced himself as Sylvester and then, after that, the Benefactor, are immediately chased away by confusion and gripping fear when the room is used as a dance hall for mysterious winds and stage for a green light to illuminate, coming from beneath them and sending an inexplicable chill down the redhaired girl's spine. I need to get out of here, she thinks, shivering still. The Benefactor speaks cryptically, referring to some being, some Him, without giving any actual details- only causing Aradia to feel a growing amount of suspicion about all of this. She suddenly fears that this is some sort of human trafficking ring after all, and they've put on a strangely grand show in order to daze and drug those who are soon to be their victims. Her instinct is to cling to the familiar- but the girl is far too proud, despite her immense insecurities, to turn to Hailey- weak Hailey, whom she carefully continues to ignore.

When addressed, along with Hailey and a girl apparently named Grey, Aradia feels stiff, standing perfectly still and keeping her eyes just above the Benefactor's head- as though afraid to meet his eyes, and the warmth in them that is too alien in anyone but Hailey. Once more, she feels as though his words are an attack on her, and frowns slightly at the mention of the flaws in their friendship- as if she isn't acutely aware of them, far more so than Hailey, the victim in the situation.

When he addresses her, personally, the girl is overcome with a sudden heat. It is not the warmth of the magic, but a sudden angry wave crashing over her head and threatening to eclipse her, as he points out that her problem is not being satisfied with her life, and then being jealous of others. Others have been told of horrible things happening to them, and yet she is accused- that is how the girl views it, anyway. She grits her teeth in anger, clenching her fists. Fuck you. Not satisfied with my life? How would you know, living in suits and comfort? You want me to be satisfied? You want me to be okay? I've tried. I didn't want this. I didn't fucking ask for this. I've tried to escape- it isn't my fault that through some sick joke, I've never been able to. Fuck you. Trying to help me? You're just like everyone else, her thoughts are vehement, and yet her exterior is the image of placid. Not a single one of those words is let slip out of her mind, because she is nothing if not controlled. He gives her her ability, and she can feel a searing pain on her hand, but doesn't care- her fists are already curled so tightly that her fingernails dig little crescents into her palms.

Why? My second chance is to be a better friend? It's just for Hailey, isn't it? I'm not being saved from people who beat me and hate me. I'm not being saved from trying to kill myself. They're just saving Hailey. It's always Hailey.

For the rest of the little gathering, Aradia doesn't say a word. She simply stares at the ground, her face almost void of emotions and her eyes just hollow enough to hide the anger that would otherwise burn in them- the passion put out by tears long ago. Aradia doesn't want to work with other people, and she doesn't want to be part of this savior program- not part of this man's god-complex or his quest to become some sort of false martyr. She just wants to leave. She wishes that this had been some sort of plot to harvest her organs and leave her dead in some tub of ice somewhere, to be found by the police three weeks later. Why do they have me here any way. I'm just the fucking bad guy after all, aren't I? Just the bad guy, she thinks, wanting to run out of here as fast as possible.

She watches as one man leaves, storms out really, and wants to do the same. But Aradia doesn't move unless dismissed, standing their, limbs tightened and knots likely building in her back- as though there aren't too many of them there for a girl her age already. She wants to break things, or to do something violent- something to relieve her anger. Other people begin to excuse themselves as well, and she takes that as a sign that she can leave. The girl doesn't make a comment on her way out, just turning around and walking away silently. However, she only makes it down one flight of stairs before, certain that there is no one with her, she falls to her knees and begins to punch the wall violently, putting her strength and anger into it and hurting her knuckles rather badly, no doubt. "Fuck. It's always Hailey. I might as well go back home- at least they don't knows she exists there. Why couldn't I have just died in that stupid alley? Why didn't they ever just punch hard enough to kill?" Losing the strength in her arm, she begins to use her head, hitting it against the wall over and over, as though that will help make the rage and the self-pitying go away.

"Everyone else is some sob story- I'm just the villain they're trying to reform."

Image"I need a stress reliever." At her words she cocked her head to the left as she stood to his left. In their past she remembered he'd either smoke or do some type of drug. It's not like she had any on her to offer him some help, "What would help you?" She knew she had nothing to give, but she was just trying to be helpful. "If there's anything I could do I'd love to help." Rosalina wasn't the most helpful person in the world, but she tried when she could and she would attempt to kill Noah with kindness. She did still love and care for him, but she decided she wanted revenge. Rosa was vengeful to a certain extent when it came to getting people back, but no one had broke her heart before like he did, so all she could think of doing was make him feel guilty or at least she would try. When he left she thought he couldn't feel guilt or remorse for anyone expect himself; when she had cried he had patted her back to try to comfort her changing her mind to think he possibly still did care.

Pursing her lips together she tapped them as she narrowed her eyes onto him. Looking him over it appeared to her that he looked tense by the way he was standing. "You look tense," saying so she slowly placed a gentle hand on one of his shoulders, "May I..." With a trailing voice her mood trailed with it to nervousness. Should I even be talking to him? Does he even want me around? A feeling of unsureness hit, it was just one of her random mood swings that she was use to. Without an answer she put her other hand on his other shoulder and began to massage the taller man. As she did so she let her eyes graze the view of the carpet along with her face blossoming to a rosy red without warning. Her body was reacting funny like usually doing strange this and turning off colors. "If you turn around I can get your shoulders better." Her voice was barely louder than a whisper as she moved her head to look up at him, something she didn't want to do. Rosalina didn't want him to think he was the cause for her blushing because he wasn't even though it appeared that way. Applying pressure to her right hand gradually she had him spin in the direction she pushed without removing her hands from him. "I did most of the talking out there... so how has-" thinking of how everyone had a job change she decided it'd be best to use more appropriate, how was the band life? You didn't explain."

Waiting for his answer she kept doing the awkward massage to help him unwind. She wasn't sure if it was even working, but she was trying her best at least. "If you ever need someone to talk to my doors always open to you." Rosalina was going to make sure it got through his head they were going to be friends again. With him being near her made her become a clingy mess again, she didn't mind it for now through, but she might later she wasn't sure. "After we're dismissed do you think I could see your room?" With he voice still at it's quietness she dropped one of her hands and walked in front of him to see his face as she barely had a smile on hers. "I just wonder what your room looks like and later on you can see mine then we can compares who's better." Shrugging her shoulders she let the hand she had kept on his shoulder wonder to his hair. It was soft like she remembered it had always been and messy too. "I hope I helped you some. If I could help you release any of your stress in any way possible just tell me." With her suddenly regaining her uplifting sense she strengthened her beamingness and with that her voice took back its pleasurable tones. "If you accept my invite when we go to my room we can have some drinks together, how does that sound?

Sly pulling her hand from his hair she used both hands to start fiddling with his shirt, "If your closet is like anything like mine I'll be finding you something better to wear." Giggling some she continued to speak, "After all with me studying to be a fashion designer it would be nice to have someone I could stylize." That could be a little offense. Looking into his eyes she winked, "Not that you don't look sexy already Mr. Badboy, it's just that change never killed anyone. You'd look pretty good in a suit if you asked me." Taking a step back she let her hands remain touching his shirt as she mentally estimated his measurements and what fabrics and colors would be best on him. With her eyes locking back to his she smirked, "You and I will certainly have lots of fun, because now I'm no longer giving you the chance to say no! In my mind I have a perfect vision of what I could dress you in, therefore you can no longer back out! I mean, you see what I'm wearing? It's my own design." Rosalina was simply bragging about her own design. She was very proud of herself and even more proud that her closet had put her design together for her and if Noah liked it proud would no longer be the word, it would be something much bigger that her small brain couldn't even think of. "You look good in dark colors like blacks, reds, blues..." Her voice cut off feather like while she walked circles around him checking out his body. After three circles she stopped fact to face with him. "You hair wouldn't look bad slicked back either..." Her commentary was more to her than him as she tapped a finger to her bottom lip.

“...Obviously, simple bitch...” Was all she caught as a response to Grey's question. "The fuck." Snapping her head to the carry of the voice made her feel sick. Her and Grey weren't really friends, but she didn't want anyone saying anything rude to her. Before she caught the chance to say anything to Jasper he had left the room followed behind Scarlet. Ok then... Transitioning to Noah she smirked, "Some people are so rude. If someone called me a bitch I'd claw their eyes out!" Holding up her hand up like a claw she hissed like a cat. Of course she wouldn't do that, well maybe not, it all depended on what mood she was leaning to. "What would you do if you heard someone call me a bitch?" The questions slipped out, but once it was said she shrugged her shoulders waiting for the answer. Getting called a bitch was something she heard a lot when she went out, so it didn't sting like it once had. When she first got called it a century ago it made her go into flames, Wasn't it Noah that called me that... or one of his friends? She wasn't sure who it was through all the drinking and drugs that had passed since then, but she knew it happened after she had met Noah.

She listened as the girl said she was fine but she sort of knew better then to believe it. But, it was not her place to pry on someone else's private business... Especially when she didn't even know the girl. She shook Harper's hand as she introduced herself which made the British girl relax a bit. At least someone wasn't being hostile towards everyone else. Hating everything and everyone just because they were pissed off about being here. She chatted with the girl, telling her about her room before seeing Harper be bumped by a small Hispanic looking girl who, she assumed apologized to Harper. Who didn't seem to mind very much to say much about it. She stayed by Harper before finally seeing the adults return into the room. She looked at the small young girl and assumed she must have been here already or was related to one of the adults. No child could loss their innocence so much at such a young age that they needed to come here...

And then after a moment of not paying attention, she saw all the boys go with Scarlett while the girl stayed behind with Nicolas. She watched as Grey and Nicolas talked while she just awkwardly waited to get an explanation. And finally, they began moving and made it to an office who she could bet was the boss of everyone here and was the person who sent the two to go and get everyone here. Once entering she found a man who began to speak to the large group. “Welcome. My name is Sylvester Cromwell but I am usually addressed as The Benefactor. Although some of you may know that from reading the letter. Before we begin, I should let you know that should you desire to return to your rooms, the room number is placed in the back of the letter. If you by chance did not read your letter in your room or did not bring it with you and don’t remember your room, I will give it to you before we give you a tour of the places you will be working in the town.” She looked at the top of the letter seeing her room number before returning her gaze up to the man who continued to speak. She honestly didn't bat an eye at the job, she never had an actually job but she did enough around her home and for her protest to know exactly what to do. She watched as Sylvester put his gloved hands out in front of him, making her raise an eyebrow. Soon a bright glowing light began to wrap around all the young adults. To her, she was wonder what it was. She was a curious person and she wanted ask him what he was doing but she couldn't find the words. “Don’t worry and don’t be afraid. He is right now observing you and trying to gather information of your pasts, of your fears, of your strengths, and of sorrows. He is the one that will bestow your powers which you will utilize in your work. These powers are your Gifts of Innocence. You must now open your hearts, minds, and souls, and accept the Gift of Innocence as parts of you now.” Looking up at him, she could have swore that now it was a dream. Powers? What was this a fairy tail?

As she begn asking questions in her head, she didn't even notice him going around to the group telling them what their so-called "powers" were. It wasn't until he stop in front of her that began paying attention to what he was saying. “You both will be Animal Rescuers and Trainers as you both have witnessed and or experienced pain. Fiona, you will be a friend to the animals, able to befriend animals easily and having them listen to your commands, as though they understand you completely. Friend of the Animals is given to someone who has been tortured by the various cruel deeds done on animals. You will show them a better life through taking care of them and training them in the special Animal Training facilities provided by the Benefactor.

Alton, you will help Fiona rescue animals from their various dangerous situations. To aid you, you will have the ability to not feel any pain, for you have been abused too many times without reason. It should be noted that the effect of feeling no pain lasts both in and out of the job. Make sure however that you rest periodically."
She smiled towards him before seeing him move to the next person. She looked towards who she believe was Alton before offering a small smile. After that, everything kind of winded down while a the raven haired had curse up a storm before actually storming out, hopefully leaving. If he didn't want to be there and have the choice of getting whatever he lost back then let him leave. It would make her irritation go down anyways. Matter of fact, she was tried of hearing everyone bitch and complain, some saying how they wanted to go and explore while others wished to leave. Fiona? She wanted to stay here, she hated her life sometimes. People assuming that she was so perfect and such a little princess without truly getting to know her or of her scars physical and emotional scars. She had her goddamn baggage too. She could just sense people staring at her, just judging the small rag-doll girl. She looked at Harper who was still next to her before speaking to her after clearing her throat once more.

“As much as it is seeing people explode and hearing all this cursing, I think I'm going to go look around this place. But, it was very nice speaking to you, Harper. I hope to see you around.” She told her in all honest before slipping out of the office and walked towards the stairs, not really having a true destination in mind. She needed some air, so she walked towards the doors and walked into the sunlight before sighing. Letting all the anxiety just melt away from her as she looked at her phone, now seeing a message from her ballet teacher, telling that apparently her parents told her that she had broken her leg and was at home resting it. And that he hoped her star dancer felt better soon. She didn't even reply as she slide to the ground under a tree, shielding her from the sun as she just looked in her small bag and grabbed out a folded piece of paper to write down everything that had happened so far in the day.

Hailey was having a mixture of confusion and sadness, she had thought that she had said something to kind to her friend whom of which only responded to her with bitterness. "What a pretty fantasy," Her best friend had responded to her with this. Hailey flinched, frowning deeply as she wanted to apologize to her friend for maybe even saying anything bad to her, but for some reason now the one person she adores is ignoring her. This was the time that people started to get ready and everyone began moving away into groups of boys and girls. Before she knew it they were standing before the one who would give them a second chance. What ever the second chance may be. The entire way Aradia had ignored her which only irritated the girl. She began to scratch at her arms, not on purpose but because she had nothing else to do.

Upon arriving to the Benefactor's room she stood before him, moving uncomfortably around in her spot. Her arms moving harshly up and down her arms as she constantly glanced over at each person that he was speaking to. She had even managed to ignore the comment from Jasper who seemed pretty angry about being here. She stared at the ground, only feeling sadness because of her friend ignoring her. One thing most people didn't notice was that Hailey was listening and taking in this information about most people in this group. It wasn't until he moved on to her, Aradia, and another girl named Grey did she actually look up at the Benefactor with very sad eyes. “All three of you will be counselors though you differ depending on your power and experiences. Hailey and Aradia you’ve been best friends but the friendship hasn’t been exactly comforting and supportive has it? Hailey you will be the Empowerment Counselor, taking those who feel as though they are weak and help them take charge into their lives. You were given power to “take charge” because you have been used by another and have felt helpless. You will tell people to recite a mantra to help them take charge into their lives. “I am powerful. My actions do have meaning. I will take charge and control my destiny.” This mantra when recited helps the user to feel empowerment. The user can take charge in his or her life to the point where he/she is intimidating enough to make other people do as told. The mantra only lasts for twenty-four hours, but it can be said over and over again." He informed her what her power was and why she got the power she did. She did not understand it at all and she didn't understand why The Benefactor said that Aradia was being a jealous poisonous friend because to Hailey she was perfect. Of course she just nodded and listened as he moved on to the other few people who were left to be informed what their gift was going to be.

After everyone had their gift he soon asked if anyone had any questions and Hailey's head snapped up, hoping she could at least get one question in, but of course someone else did before her. A male's voice broke through, saying that he was done, and asking when he could get the hell out of this place. Obviously he had a chip on his shoulder that she had no interest in getting into, so she just left it be until Aradia had left with out her. Unusual for the pair to be so far apart when they both seemed to find some kind of comfort between each other. Her gaze stayed locked on Aradia as her feet seemed to be frozen to the ground, unable to move to follow close behind her. Maybe she just wanted space, maybe she wanted to be alone, or maybe she was angry with Hailey. It was unknown, and Hailey wasn't up to finding out

At once she looked at the Benefactor, tearing up just a bit. "I...I...Never mind. Excuse me, I need to... I gotta... I need to collect.. collect.. collect my thoughts." She breathed just before dragging herself out of the room. She whimpered softly to herself, leaving the crowd of people behind as she rushed down the hall and away from the people. She plopped down at the end of the hallway, just near the stairwell where she pulled her knees against her chest and trembled. "Penelope," She cried softly, reaching out for her imaginary friend and grabbing nothing. "Please Penelope," Placing her hands over her ears she pressed them over each ear in an attempt to block any kind of noise from people. Several emotions flooded her already very active mind which practically sent her into over drive. Confusion. Anger, and even sadness. She breathed heavily and even sniffled a few times as she tried to hold back the tears that were supposed to arrive this morning when she had woken up in a mysterious place. Now all of a sudden all the emotions were rising up, and she didn't know what to do.

Unlike others who may be worried about what their friends may think or what about their jobs she was thinking about her family whom of which must be worried sick. Right? Oh gosh, she didn't know what to do any more. She's so confused and you can tell by the way tears are slowly trickling out of her eyes. "Penelope!" She cried as she moved her hands from her ears and balled them up into fists which she used to smash against the ground after crying for her imaginary friend. Smashing her fists against the ground again she looked around, practically begging to see Penelope or even Aradia if she can. "Geez, love what is your problem?" She heard Penelope's voice which some what relaxed her. "I just need to talk to you. I think Aradia is mad at me." She answered Penelope. After that they had a small conversation which was basically a conversation with herself up until Penelope's voice just disappeared and Hailey was once again left to think about things. She wrapped her arms around her legs, and just cried softly as she tried to let all of her emotions go right about now.

Zeus was leaning on the wall, separating himself from everyone else up until the time that a girl had retrieved him to lead him to who was now known as The Benefactor, the one who had practically kidnapped him. He felt his hands tremble slightly as he bit the inside of his cheek and just stared at his feet as he followed quite a few feet behind her up until they got to where The Benefactor's room was. Not much later did they enter he room and pretty much make half of a circle around the older male who soon enough began talking. He explained why they were here first before moving on to talk to people specifically. Sylvester, also known as The Benefactor went through talking to everyone and giving them this thing called a gift which he still didn't fully understand. Basically he looked at everyone, listening to what The Benefactor had to say due to the fact that he needed to get to know everyone better then he actually knew them.

It wasn't until The Benefactor got to him when his eyes widened slightly. Oh no, please don't. He thought, knowing that chances were that the older male was going to tell pretty much everyone what happened to him. His breathing got only slightly heavy as the male began to explain not only his gift but why he had gotten that certain gift. “Zeus, you will be working with the counselors as well with your role being the Psychologist. You will help people recover from traumatic experiences by permanently erase the painful memories of your patients. You have been sexually assaulted by other women and are always haunted by it, so now you can help others ease their pain by erasing their memory. However, in exchange you must peer into the memories of his patients and erase a happy and equivalent memory. He may use this power outside of work, but the people must be willing to have at least the bad memory erased for it to work." All Zeus could really do is nod once. You could tell by the way that his eyes water up ever so lightly that it really not only embarrassed him but upset him to have people know a secret about him. "Okay, thank you." He whispered as memories of his sexual abuse came rushing back to him.

Now his secret was out and obviously it frustrated him. He tuned out the older male finally as he pressed the palms of his hands against his eyes, rubbing them hard. It hurt a little, but he could care less right now. He dug his nails gently into the palm of his hand as he slowly moved them away from his eyes. Blinking a couple of times he held back the angry groan that threatened to escape him. The memories still haunt him and he could hear the awful laughter of the women who rapped him along with the laughter of his mother as she inhaled her smoke deeply before puffing it into his teary eyed face. She didn't care, no one did. His sister never knew what had happened to him, and he hoped they would never have to go through what he did. The laughter echoed in his eyes as his eyes would say momentarily locked on the ground before he would look at the other people then once again down at the ground. It was all he could do right now because he wasn't just going to randomly leave.

Once The Benefactor asked if there was any questions a male busted out with some kind of remark that he couldn't quite catch. Quirking an eyebrow at the male who soon enough stormed out in an angry rush he finally looked at The Benefactor whom he assumed would do something. For once Zeus shook his head, suddenly angry with the male. Once people began to leave and excuse himself he did the same exact thing, fleeing from the area in an attempt to avoid the sympathy that people just might give him. He really did hate when people would do that poor little sympathy thing to him. Finally he hurried away from the group, fleeing to an area that wasn't already occupied by someone. Leaning against the wall he ran a hand through his hair, looking down at the ground as he kind of just stood there by himself. Right now he didn't want to interact with anyone all he wanted to do was to just be left alone for a little while so that maybe he could push away the horrid memories.

The Benefactor didn’t have to wait long for others to respond to the mysterious happening of the office and himself. Grey had asked, "Why was I chosen?" and the Benefactor would have thought it was obvious at this point yet he opened his mouth to respond. Before he could, the Benefactor stopped as he heard laughter coming from another Harper who had only one question to ask, “Why does the elevator not work?” The Benefactor took a moment to smirk at the question, anticipating that it would come out sooner or later but not with the enthusiasm Harper had. Still he did have to explain and he would’ve if Jasper wasn’t so quick to answer Grey. “Apparently, you weren’t paying attention when this guy was giving an overview of everyone’s life story,” as he gestured to the Benefactor on cue. Obviously, simple bitch, you’re just as fucked up as the rest of the broken toys here.” Afterwards he turned to the Benefactor. “I have a real question, Mr. B,” sounding irritated. The Benefactor held back his smile to the nickname, hiding the fact that he kind of liked it because he knew now was not the time. “Can I just get the hell out of here?” Jasper asked before shaking his head ,waving his hand, and walking towards the door. ”You know, what? You don’t even have to answer that. I’m going to just go.” And with that Jasper walked out of the office, the first one to leave after the empowering. The Benefactor didn’t need to signal Scarlet as she walked out of the office after Jasper. After a while, she came back in without him, unsuccessful perhaps.

In a few moments, Daniel spoke up agreeing with Harper the “former hooker.” “I don’t know, it just seems like a lot of walking,” while Rosalina and Noah had a conversation amongst themselves. Makoto seemed to be the only one who enjoyed this at this point. The Benefactor wasn’t surprised when another one, Alton, also announced that he would get out of here. “Listen, I’m just going to go back to my flat, the atmosphere in there right now is pitiful and I don’t want to deal with it. So if you don’t mind, I’m going to try to come to terms with the fact that pain isn’t available to me anymore.” The Benefactor watched Alton leave and thought, ”My, I wonder if I should’ve really done that, or rather if he should’ve given him that ability considering his…special kinship towards it. But what’s done is done and he cannot take it back.”

If the Benefactor had thought that Makoto was the one who enjoyed this he couldn’t have been more wrong when Grey had started a whole conversation to him about thanking him for saving her schooling for psychology, offering her coffee skills, introducing herself, a “broken” closet, and a bottle of wine that didn’t make her drunk. The Benefactor had taken her hand and shook it gently giving her a warm reassuring smile while she spoke, but couldn’t help raise his eyebrow and give a concerned look when she mentioned the bottle of wine.

“Grey, it is a pleasure for you to offer coffee. I’d like to take up the offer sometime if it’s no trouble, and perhaps the others would like some too. I will ask the maids to gather a list from each of you about your clothing preferences. Though, about the wine…I’m sorry to say that I didn’t put that there…” The Benefactor grew jealous for the moment. ”Of all the things I don’t give them, why did it have to be wine!” he thought. The Benefactor could feel his taste buds craving for the drink that Grey had taken up and he couldn’t help but tighten his grip, forgetting that Grey was holding onto his hands. “Ahh sorry about that miss. But I can’t inform you much on the wine.”

He was about to suggest that Novia would help the maids gather deals on the clothing but then she excused herself, in a much intelligent and sarcastic tone, “Well, as much as I'd love to stay and join you all in being harassed and degraded by Nero of the 21st Century, I think I can manage to find something more stimulating to help me grasp onto what's going on. Thanks for the stuff, by the way. Love the kitchen design. But I really want my Audi back.”

More people walked out of the office after Novia, leaving Grey, Harper, Rosalina, Noah, Daniel, Makoto, and Jang to be in the room. Aradia and Zeus left the area without a word. Fiona said a goodbye to Harper saying, “As much as it is seeing people explode and hearing all this cursing, I think I'm going to go look around this place. But, it was very nice speaking to you, Harper. I hope to see you around.” With the leave of her best friend Aradia, Hailey excused herself, "I...I...Never mind. Excuse me, I need to... I gotta... I need to collect.. collect.. collect my thoughts."
The Benefactor observed all of this, and took note of who left and who still remained. It didn’t surprise him much that some people stayed behind while others had left. This happened many times over and after experience he knew that plans don’t always go as smoothly, so he had to think of an alternative. He smiled towards Grey who was still nearby him and then addressed the crowd of young adults.

“Now, I see that we won’t be able to go have a tour around the town, which is still fine. You’re free to go and look around this weekend as your jobs don’t start until Monday. However, I see that we need to get together as a group, so I’m going to plan a little something for us to do this evening. For now, I want you to get closer to each other, especially trying to find those who have just ran off. There are no more secrets in this place anymore since we have to get close to each other. It is important that a business runs as a unit that so happens to have many components.” The Benefactor smiled, remembering that logic from his father who he had looked up to all those years ago as a child. Now it was his turn to shine, his moment of leadership. “In fact, this may also be an excellent opportunity to try out your powers if you wish, as long as the other person is willing of course. Again Daniel, I warn you on not making anyone…endowed with another person inside of them…unless they wish it upon themselves.”

Before the new recruits headed out the Benefactor quickly said, “And the reason why the elevator doesn’t work is because my father was unfortunate enough to receive this building without one and as it expended the workers couldn’t install one. I apologize for this, but in a sense it is a good way to be healthy and exercise. You never know when emergency could strike and that extra training would help.” After the new recruits filed out, The Benefactor motioned to Nick and Scar to have a meeting to themselves.

“Nicholas, Scarlet, watch over these interactions. We need to make sure they do not get unnecessarily injured in any way,” the Benefactor whispered with a serious tone. Slowly his serious expression turned into a smile and he cheerfully smiled and he continued, “Especially since they’re supposed to have a good time!”

Nick nodded and politely said, “Yes, sir,” then grabbed Scarlet’s hand and escorted her out. Making sure that nobody was around, Nick asked, “So, Scar, how do you think of the new recruits? I’m definitely enjoying the chicks around here, though the guys ain’t so bad. They’re such lucky bastards though. The Benefactor’s throwing them a party again even though they act like such brats!” He gazed at Scarlet as she spoke, observing her beautifully defined body and the flaring sea of vermillion that flowed down with it. Her luscious lips seemed to move with the words she spoke and he didn’t care what she was saying so long as he could look intensely at his partner. Ignoring anything she was saying he then asked, “Hey, why don’t you tell me your power?” He eyed Scarlet suspiciously, circling around her as he spoke. “I mean, it’s been a long time since I joined and you’ve always just kept to yourself about it. We’re partners so shouldn’t we be looking out for each other?” Nick then put his arms around Scarlet and looked at her earnestly, this time showing genuine interest and concern for her. “C’mon, Scar. You know I worry about you sometimes. Why don’t you promise you’ll show me your power? It doesn’t have to be now since I know sometimes there has to be those opportune moments. But can you promise me you’ll show it to me?” Nick held on to Scarlet and stared into her eyes, awaiting an answer.

Now, I see that we won’t be able to go have a tour around the town, which is still fine. You're free to go and look around this weekend as your jobs don’t start until Monday. However, I see that we need to get together as a group, so I’m going to plan a little something for us to do this evening. For now, I want you to get closer to each other, especially trying to find those who have just ran off. There are no more secrets in this place anymore since we have to get close to each other. It is important that a business runs as a unit that so happens to have many components. In fact, this may also be an excellent opportunity to try out your powers if you wish, as long as the other person is willing of course.” The Benefactor cast a warning look in Daniel's direction, almost like a mother scolding a child. It almost brought a smile to his face, but Daniel settled instead for shoving his hands deeply into the pockets of his jeans. “Again Daniel, I warn you on not making anyone...endowed with another person inside of them…unless they wish it upon themselves.”

Damn, I thought you forgot.” He deadpanned, his face completely void of emotion even though his voice oozed snarkiness.

He completely missed the explanation of why the elevator wasn't functioning, but in retrospect he couldn't be bothered. The Benefactor said he could go and that's just what he wanted to do. He wanted to get out of this crowded room and explore, roam around in wide open spaces instead of being cooped up in this room. Daniel wasn't concerned with conversing, not by any means, he just wasn't comfortable in confined spaces with an overbearing amount of people. He contemplated on whether or not that made him a tad claustrophobic but immediately dismissed the idea when he remembered his childhood; when he would be perfectly fine after Dick would shove him in his own bedroom closet just to laugh when Daniel finally 'came out'.

As the others began to file out, Daniel was brought out of his reverie, immediately turning to his friend with a lop-sided grin, “So Maki, you want to ditch this place and have Walter give us a tour of the town?”

"Sure," Maki nodded as he shrugged his broad shoulders. "But...who's Walter?"

Why, he's my personal chauffeur," Daniel chuckled, then pursed his lips in thought for a moment—providing a shrug of his own. “He's pretty much the Alfred to my Batman.” He made a nodding motion with his head, directing Maki towards the door as he took a grandiose step forward, “Come on, let's go. If we're lucky he'll still be outside.”

"Wait," Maki said with a furrow of his brows. "If you're Batman...does that make me Robin?"

Daniel's eyes lit up as he paused mid-stride, his head slowly turning to his Asian friend with his mouth ajar in a silent, ecstatic scream. "Abso-fucking-lutely!" He nearly hollered. Daniel quickly took hold of Maki's hand and pulled him out of the door, hollering, "Come Boy Wonder! To the Batmobile!" Daniel dragged his friend down the multitude of stairs, rushing down several flights before breaking out in a loud song, "Nananananananananananananananana BATMAN!" He flung himself off the steps, halfway down the last flight, barrel-rolling as he came into rough contact with the floor. He landed on his back, sprawled out in the shape of a five-pointed star, giggling as he heard Maki nag him from the bottom of the steps.

"Dude, be careful. I don't want you killing yourself."

He perked his head up, eyes wide in utmost seriousness as he peered over his chest, "Batman can't die."

With a shake of his head and a bemused chuckle, Maki traveled the rest of the way down, assisting Daniel to his feet. "You're seriously enjoying this too much."

Daniel shrugged, brushing himself off nonchalantly, "What can I say? Life's about making a fool of yourself and having a damn good time doing it." He gave his friend one last content smile before he motioned towards the grand entrance, "Come on, Alfred awaits." turning on his heels and they walked out, their stride mimicking that of the other. As they left the Corporation, Daniel pulled out his cell phone, shooting a text to his mystery lady so she wouldn't get mad at him for leaving again.

Hey there doll face ;) Dan here. Maki and I are going to have Walter show us around town and then do a little shopping. Fret not, dear maiden, we shall return before sunset, giving us ample time to recuperate before the little social gathering you and the Boss have planned. Ta-ta~

With a satisfied smile, he tucked his phone back into his pocket and strode down the walkway, pleased to see Walter reading the morning paper whilst leaning against the hood of his car. He tapped on the hood to get the old man's attention, smiling apologetically when he startled him. Walter returned the smile with one of his own, accepting the unspoken apology before he folded the paper.

"What can I do for you, Daniel?"

"I'd like to trouble you for a ride, if that's okay." Daniel replied with a smile. "My friend and I would like a tour of the town."

Walter beamed, pushing himself up off the hood before standing in front of the young men, "But of course, Daniel, it would be my honor." He cast a friendly smile in Maki's direction and held out his hand, his smile growing as the Asian automatically accepted it. The old man gave a firm shake, replying exuberantly, "And you must be Mister Makoto Oshiro. A pleasure to meet you, sir."

Makoto smiled coyly before scratching the back of his head. "Sup?" He said, shyly, but soon realized how out of place the statement felt. "Uh, I mean, right back at ya, Alfred..." He paused, obviously wanting to face palm himself.

"It's Walt-..."

"Come on Alfred!" Daniel interjected, having moved to the back passenger door as Maki made a fool out of himself. Walter turned to him, frowning—even in his eyes. Daniel beamed in response, watching Maki awkwardly meander to the other side of the back seat from his peripheral. "We're going to take you to the mall. Maybe get you a new hat or something."

Daniel and Maki both climbed into the backseat as Walter opened the driver's side door, "You'll find that I don't often wear hats, Mister Brennan." He stated before plopping down behind the wheel. He turned as he shut the door, looking over at Daniel in faint exasperation, "And would it trouble you greatly to address me by my name, sir?"

"What have I told you, Alfred?" Daniel asked mid-chuckle, rolling his eyes with a shake of his head, "It's strictly Dan or Daniel, no 'sir' or 'Mister Brennan'."

Walter huffed slightly as he turned around, mumbling under his breath slightly, "Quid pro quo, Mister Brennan."

Daniel cocked an eyebrow as Maki stifled a laugh beside him, smirking before he steered his attention to the landscape outside his tinted window. Daniel is typically a very talkative person. More often than not he’ll be prattling on about senseless subjects and various pop culture issues, but in the car he is very reserved. He’ll sit for hours at a time in the car, remaining perfectly still, lost in the hectic confines of his own mind. Today, however, something was nagging at the back of his mind—something he’d overheard when The Benefactor was dishing out everyone’s life story. He glanced towards Maki, rubbing his fingertips against his thumb as his elbow remained propped up on the window frame. Maki? In the Mafia? That couldn’t be right. Surely The Benefactor was exaggerating the truth. Or maybe he wasn’t, Daniel thought, Appearances can be deceiving. Daniel ran his fingers through his hair idly, his gaze remaining on this seemingly timid man at his side. Eventually Maki glanced over, feeling Daniel’s eyes regarding his profile. His friend’s expression changed to one of self-consciousness. Maki anxiously began touching his face, looking at Daniel in confusion.

"What?” He asked, "Is there something on my face?”

Daniel smirked, not knowing exactly how to approach the subject. It was a delicate one, he was sure, and should probably be handled with careful precision. "So you and the Mafia, huh?” Daniel deadpanned, "What’s that about?”

Maki immediately began avoiding eye contact and stared at his fingers as they idly plucked at his shirt. "Uh..." Daniel could tell he struggled for the right words to say. "My...my father was a mob boss." He left it at that, his leg shaking nervously. It was obvious that he was uncomfortable with the subject.

A moment passed between them, Daniel exchanging looks from Maki to the back of Walter’s head. He knew he should probably leave it that, never approach the subject again until Maki wanted to bring it up, but he just couldn’t. And—for some reason—Daniel knew it wasn’t for his own benefit. He could honestly go without knowing about Maki’s past and be perfectly fine. The guy he was looking at now was one he was content with befriending. He liked Maki; could see them becoming fast friends. Maybe that’s why he pressed the issue. Daniel placed a hand on Maki’s shoulder, squeezing slightly to comfort him, "Makoto-…” He began, using his friend’s full first name to draw his attention, "You can tell me anything. Whatever you want to get off your chest, I’m here. It’s between you and me.” He waited for Maki to look at him again before giving him a reassuring smile, holding out his pinky. He smile broadened as Maki glanced down at it, then back up at him. "Pinky promise.” Now, anyone his age would probably think his ‘pinky promise’ was a joke—but the sincerity in eyes was too apparent to ignore. Pinky promises, to Dan, were like blood oaths. He never broke a pinky promise, even growing up. It probably originated from his time as a child, when he still believed there were monsters hiding under his bed. He’d have his father or his brother check and see if there were any and when they told him there wasn’t Daniel made them pinky promise that they weren’t lying. They did and, to his relief, there never were. For whatever reason, it always made Daniel feel reassured. Since then he’s utilized the pinky promise for only the most important things. Keeping Maki’s dark past a secret between them…being there for Maki in his time of need from here on out—that was one of the most important things he’d ever promised anyone.

Maki met Daniel's gaze, allowing a small meek smile to adorn his face. He wrapped his right pinky around Dan's left one. "Pinky promise..." He nodded. Maki then pulled his finger away before sighing, slowly revealing his own story. "My father wanted me to be like him, you know, take over the family business, but I couldn't do it. I wanted to dance...own my own studio and teach, maybe even become a professional," he paused, scratching the back of his head nervously before continuing. Daniel listened intently, his own hand resting in his lap, "But my father wouldn't have it, said I was a disgrace to my family and I was breaking tradition. He forced me to...to kill a man, brutally kill him. I watched him be burnt alive and I'm the one that set the fire. My dad held a gun to my head, literally, and threatened to pull the trigger if I didn't comply. Says he was teaching me to be a man." He released a bitter laugh that held no humor. "I couldn't live like that...so I faked my death and the next day, I wake up here."

Daniel sat, frozen in shock as he remained silent. Fathers forcing their career on their sons was one of those stereotypically Asian things, but he’d never heard of a dad being a Mafia boss. He couldn’t fathom what his friend went through. Daniel had to fight back the urge to hug him, especially after that bitter laugh pierced his heart. He hadn’t known the man for more than a few hours and yet the prospect of knowing that all of that had happened to him hurt him more than he could contemplate. Maki rubbed the nape of his neck, the movement snapping Daniel out of his stoic reverie. "Crazy, huh?"

He didn’t know what to say at first, but he couldn’t prevent the breathy scoff that fled his lips. "Yeah,” he thought aloud, wincing at how nonchalant it sounded. There was a brief moment of silence between them until Daniel couldn’t suppress his need to further comfort his friend. He wrapped his arm around Maki’s shoulder in a half hug, looking down at his face as a faint comforting smile adorned his features, "Too bad you’re old man wasn’t a doctor or something.” It was a half-hearted joke, a measly attempt to cheer his friend up even though he was at a loss for words.

"I just told you about the lowest point of my life," Maki said in slight disbelief. "And you manage to still come up with a stereotypical racial slur." He let out a weak chuckle. "I've only known you for a few hours and I can already tell you'll be a handful."

Daniel smirked, "But I still made you smile.” He muttered, tightening his hold on Maki, resting his cheek against the side of the younger man’s head for a brief moment before pulling away, "In the end, that’s what I’m here for. I’ve never been much good for anything else.”

Maki responded with a meek smile, averting his eyes to the window. "Thanks for listening, I guess. Not the normal way to start a friendship...but look where we are, we've passed normal when we woke up in our apartments."

Daniel smirked, about to open his mouth to respond when-…

Pardon the interruption Mister Brennan,” Walter interjected, looking at Daniel through the rearview mirror before glancing at Maki, “Mister Oshiro” he looked back to the road, “On your left you’ll see Willowstone Blue Cross Hospital. You’ll be working there, Mister Brennan. And on the right you’ll see the Willowstone Psychological Care Facility-…” Walter carried on, continuing to give a tour of the town as a sense of contentment lingered between the two young men. Daniel felt a shift in the nature of their quiet, it was less awkward—more comfortable. As if that confession of Maki’s past brought them that much closer to friendship. Daniel would like to believe that it had. But then again he’s a ‘half-full’ kind of guy.

About an hour passed and Walter had driven them throughout the small town. Daniel was antsy at this point, anxious to get out of the car and stretch his legs. He’d seen the same street sign three times now, saw everything this place had to offer. He could probably go around town with his eyes shut and navigate with ease after such a long time spent in the back of the moving vehicle. What he needed was some entertainment. Daniel looked over to Maki, and furrowed his brows in a childish pout as he took in the younger man’s calm demeanor. How could this guy not be bored out of his mind, Daniel asked himself in the depths of his sporadic consciousness. He couldn’t stand it anymore. Subsequently, Daniel began rolling around in his seat until his legs were draped over the back of it—his chestnut hair inches from touching the floorboard. "Alfred I’m bored,” Daniel stated in a childlike whine. Maki cupped his hand over his own mouth, stifling his laughter as Walter glanced into the back seat, whipping his head back in a double take, his eyes nearly bulging out of his head.

Mister Brennan, please!” he hollered, his voice a higher octave as he panicked. “Sit in your seat properly! I assure you, we’re almost there!”

Daniel groaned in reluctance, sitting upright again as they pulled up to a stoplight. They were in midst of midday traffic, cars coming in and out of the Market Place in stylized simplicity. Daniel watched the cars go by, boredom creeping back up as he frowned in disappointment. There were no Punch-Buggies or Bruiser-Cruisers anywhere. It was then his eyes lingered to the Market Place itself, catching sight of a two story shopping plaza that could only be the mall he’d been so anxious to get to. Walter drove forward into the parking lot, searching for the closest spot it had to offer. Daniel was practically bouncing up and down in the leather seat like a kid on a school field trip. As soon as Walter put it in park, he bolted out of the car, standing at the rear end of the vehicle as if he couldn’t go in without supervision. Walter opened the door for Maki, eyeing the childish man with an incredulous stare. Maki just shook his head with a grin, walking along side Walter as Daniel led them into the mall. He completely in awe by its size and grandeur, eagerly scanning all that the mall had available. Suddenly, as if on cue, his stomach growled loudly. Daniel glanced around, seeking out the nearest clock. It was well past noon, no wonder he was starving.

"Hey, how about we get something to eat?” He suggested as the men behind him finally caught up, "I’m famished

"Cool,” Maki agreed, gesturing over the one of the adjacent food stands, "There’s a burger joint right over there,”

"Oh, thank God,” Daniel jeered with a fake sigh of relief, "I was afraid you were going to suggest Panda Express or something."

"But I’m Jap-…”

Hey Walter-…” He interjected, paused to laugh before sucking in his lips, holding the rest back. The old man smiled pleasantly, waiting for him to get himself together, "What do you want to eat? Anything on the menu, I’m buying.”

Walter gave a courteous nod, “How very kind of you, Daniel. I hope it’s not too much trouble that I’d prefer a salad from Chick-fila instead.”

Daniel guffawed, putting on a mock British accent, "No trouble at all, old bean. I’d prefer a bit of the poultry myself .” He laughed and dropped the accent, looking over at Maki, " We’ll pick yours up first, like I said, it’s on me.”

Walter stopped the boys before they took a step forward towards the counter across the food court. “Please, allow me, Daniel.” Walter insisted. Daniel cocked his brow, and Walter narrowed his eyes, “As recompense for you paying for my meal.”

The old man graciously took their order, insisting that he fetch their food for them. Maki was reluctant to say the least, but Daniel held no qualms so long as he paid the bill. Daniel handed the old man a twenty dollar bill, telling him what he wanted before Maki hesitantly did the same. Walter sauntered over to the burger joint as Daniel led Maki over to the table, pulling out his phone and tapping into the mall’s wifi. He checked their shop directory, scanning through their options. He suppressed a cheer when he saw that they had a Starbucks, unable to contain his excitement when he saw a Spencer’s towards the back of the second floor. The boys were picking and choosing what stores to visit first by the time Walter came back with two trays of food. Daniel met the old man halfway to the table, carrying the heavier of the two. Walter gave him a small smile of thanks before setting the tray down in front of Maki. Daniel pulled the chair out for the old man, Walter letting out a gravely chuckle as he took a seat. Dealing out the meal, he didn’t take his own seat until Walter had his food set out before him. He plopped a waffle fry into his mouth, looking at Maki’s meal. He frowned, holding his chicken sandwich in his hands as he silently judged him.

Maki’s glance averted once or twice to Daniel’s expression before he tired asked, "What is it this time, Daniel?”

"You’re drinking water.”

The younger man cocked his left brow, as if he was expecting more an explanation, "And-…?”

"You could’ve had a soda.” Daniel responded, speaking as if it were obvious.

"I want to be healthy. Water’s good for you.”

"Water is for the poor.” He deadpanned.

"Ironic that you say that because, technically, I’m richer than you.”

"And yet I can afford soda,” Daniel replied, quirking his brows, as he took a quick sip, “Go figure.”

Maki rolled his eyes, "Whatever Daniel, just drink your soda and be unhealthy.”

I will, and I welcome the kidney stones that follow.” Daniel quipped, taking another hearty swig. He dove into his sandwich, feeling stuffed by the time he plopped the last waffle fry into his mouth. Walter took up their trash as Daniel polished off the last of his Dr. Pepper, checking his phone again for the map before tucking his phone away for the rest of their voyage.

ImageMuch to Daniel’s discontent, Maki dragged them into a Foot Locker. For the majority of the time, Maki darted from one side of the store to the other, in utter awe at their selection. Daniel hung back with Walter, making jokes about it, uttering minor quips about other customers as he people watched with the old man. Daniel found comfort in the older man’s laughter, his mood picking up as he saw Maki stride up to them carrying two bags of newly purchased foot wear. Daniel just shook his head, not wanting to comment as they left the store. Falling in stride with the other two men, they moved to GameStop next, which was way more Daniel’s speed. He ended up buying The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite as he and Maki dorked out over their discussions on the best games. To Daniel’s relief they had a lot in common, especially in game play. They left and continued on whilst Daniel shared a story about a time he and his brother went to the mall and he’d won a bet about being able to pick up more girls than Dick. He got a couple of laughs, gesticulating throughout, and he stopped right at the end of his story as a Bath & Body Works came into view. Daniel dragged them into the store, despite their protests, and their nostrils were almost immediately assaulted. Maki took one inhale and his eyes widened considerably, trying to hold his breath without being outright rude and covering his nose. Walter did the same, holding himself at a higher posture, breathing through his mouth discretely to alleviate the stench. That’s when a bubbly woman caught sight of them, she sauntered towards them, greeting Daniel with a forced friendliness. “Hi there! Welcome to Bath & Body Works. Is there something I can help you with?”

Why yes, there is.” Daniel stated with a suave tone, “I’m looking for a scent for my girlfriend.”

Maki seemed confused, "But…Daniel…didn’t The Benefactor say that your girlfriend-…?”

Shut up Maki,” Daniel interjected quickly, casting him a look before he smiled at the woman sweetly, “I have a girlfriend. Could you point me in the direction of some of your top scents?”

Sure-…” The woman slowly agreed, she lead them over to a section and held a bottle up for him. “This one is called Forever Red,” she replied with a rehearsed bubbliness before squirting it onto her wrist, blowing on it for a moment before holding it out to Daniel, “What do you think?”

Daniel leaned forward at the waist, his nose barely touching this woman’s wrist as he took a ginger whiff of the scent. “Oh my God,” he thought aloud, his eyes widening a bit as his pupils dilated. He leaned forward once more and took a greedy sniff, “Oh my God. This is amazing.” The woman smiled, pulling her wrist away, but Daniel ceased it, “Wait, not done.” The woman blushed as Daniel pressed the tip of his nose against the inside of the woman’s wrist, his eyes shut as he let out a small moan of appreciation. He pulled away with a grin, pointing to it as if he were a little boy asking for candy. “That one. Ring that up, that’s the one.”

The woman stammered a bit, grabbing a new bottle off the shelf before she lead Daniel to the counter, Maki and Walter following behind—slightly chuckling. Daniel carried the bag without shame, reaching in to spritz his neck with the scent as they made their way to Spencer’s. “I don’t know why they called it Forever Red,” Daniel prattled, “They should call it, like, Latin Goddess or something. I smell fucking delicious.”

Maki nearly stopped in his tracks, "Wait…you got that for yourself?”

Daniel pouted, “I don’t have to explain myself to you.”

Sir, pardon me if this comes off as rude, but-…” Walter interjected, “Would you perhaps be…a bit of a ponce, by chance?”

Don’t act like I don’t know what that means,” Daniel retorted, “I watch BBC, I know what it means. And no, I’m not a ponce.”

"What’s a ponce?” Maki asked.

I believe you Americans refer to it as ‘being gay’,” Walter answered

Shut up! I’m not gay.”

"Well you can kind of understand where he’s coming from-…”

Shut it!” Daniel growled, sighing as he veered off towards his favorite store. “Let’s make a stop here and we’ll head for Starbucks before we go home.”

"But...but...this is Spencer's. It's dirty in there, Daniel. we should go somewhere else." Maki stammered, his anxiety apparent in the way he picked at the hem of his shirt.

Daniel gave Maki an incredulous look for a moment, “What are you, five? Come on,” he insisted, dragging the younger man inside by his wrist.

Walter paused by the door, “Actually sir, if you don’t mind, I’d like to go get your coffee instead. This store is a little too vulgar for my taste.”

Oh, sure thing, Alfred.” Daniel responded quickly, ignoring Maki’s look of shocked rebuttle. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out another twenty from his wallet, never ceasing his hold on his friend. He handed it over, reciting the same order he got every time he went there. “I want a venti mocha frappuchino. What do you want, Maki?”

Maki huffed, looking at Walter as he politely responded, "A grande caramel frappuchino with extra caramel, please.” Walter dismissed himself with a nod, heading off towards Starbucks as Daniel tugged Maki into the store, stopping in front of the shirts. Maki held his wrist as he looked at Daniel with a slight pout before piping up, "Are you sure you need caffeine?”

Daniel held up a shirt before refolding it and returning it to its place, idly looking through the selections while he glanced at Maki ever so often, “I’ve drank so much caffeine over the expanse of my lifetime that it hardly affects me.” He caught sight of a funny shirt and let out a chuckle, holding it up for Maki to see, “What do you think?”

"I think it's a little mean," he glanced nervously around the store, eyes glancing at the toys and vulgar jokes. "Uh, you should buy it so we can leave..."

We’re not going anywhere until Alfred comes back with my coffee.” Daniel stated, folding the shirt over his arm before he dove for another that caught his eye. “This one’s funny. I’m definitely going to need this on some occasion.” He chuckled. He eyed his nervous friend who just stood there getting scarred for life and he emitted a devious smirk, “You better hope he comes back before I lose interest in these because then we move to the toy section. And believe you me, they aren’t the kind you get a Wal-Mart.”

Maki panicked visibly and literally deflated in relief when Walter announced his presence, waiting at the door with their coffee. Maki rushed over to the man, sipping at his frappe while Daniel bought the shirts, taking his perfume out of the bag and sticking it into his the one from Spencer’s along with his games. Throwing away the evidence, he took his coffee with a small thanks, slurping it down as Walter chuckled in bemusement. Daniel finished his by the time they’d got to the car, tossing it in a bin outside before calling shotgun. Maki sat in the backseat, sipping away as Walter tried to adjust to someone else’s presence in the passenger side. They eventually returned to the Corporation, before sunset as he promised. He sent a quick text to his mystery lady telling her that he had returned and he let Maki go to his room, hanging back with Walter to talk about their favorite BBC shows whilst sitting on the hood of the car.

Thirty minutes later, Daniel meandered down the hallway in an abnormally good mood, bag of purchases in hand. The hallways was nearly deserted save for the melancholy fellow Daniel had flirted with earlier But the younger man was the least of his concern. Things were finally starting to look up for him. He’d been given a second chance at life and he’d already made two new friends. He couldn’t be happier.

With his eyes half-lidded and a pep in his step, Daniel sung his way down the hallway. He got out his keys once he got in close proximity, well into the chorus by then. “Heaven isn’t too far away!” Daniel paused at his door, still singing as he unlocked his door. The lack of movement beside him despite there being the silhouette of a person brought him out of his reverie. Daniel did a double take as he sent a weak glance towards the man to his left, recognizing him almost immediately, having forgotten the man was there already. A wide smile spread across his face as he pointed at him, “Hey, I know you! I sang to you.” The younger man gave him an odd look so Daniel tried to refresh his memory, “Remember?” He mimed out his previous air guitar, grinning again before sticking his hand out, “Hi. Name’s Daniel, Daniel Isaac Brennan. And you are?” The younger man opened his door, shaking his head as if he got the impression that Daniel was a giant ignoramus and wasn’t worth his time. Daniel’s smile faltered a bit as he let his hand fall to his side, remembering that Maki had failed to do the same thing hours earlier. “Not a handshake kind of guy, right.” The door slammed in his face and Daniel smirked, “Alright. Challenge Accepted.” Daniel retired to his own apartment, turning up the stereo high as AC/DC blared through the speakers.

“E aqui estamos nós. Uma obra-prima bife quesadilla. Agora, para envolver minha cabeça em torno desta...situação.”

Novia spoke aloud to herself as she finished her steak quesadillas and set them gingerly on a plate before whistling. She was answered by a soft mewl and bark coming from the living room area, the animal noises growing closer as Orca and Demônia rounded the corner of the counter and padded across the tile floors into the kitchen. The pit and kitten of gray color were happy as they immediately went to their respective food bowls, Orca tearing into his raw steak while Demônia enjoyed a nice bowl of raw ground beef. She nudged their water bowl closer before taking her own food into the living room where she flopped onto a bean bag before looking around. She couldn't say that she didn't like the place provided for her to stay in. The kitchen was spacey and the beautiful purple and black design was just her style.

The living room was a tribute to nature, knowledge, literature, and music. But she was still hesitant. As she chewed gingerly on one of her quesadillas, she soaked in her surrounding and assessed the value of everything that wasn't hers. Well, wasn't hers from her previous apartment. She looked around a little more and realized that only many of the books, paintings, instruments, and furniture were new. Besides the wardrobe, that is. She had already estimated something near fifteen grand when another thought entered her mind: Why leave? They could probably easily find her again and deport her. Though she was assured that legal citizenship was just a request away. And she held some negotiation powers now...But was this a temporary home and job or was she welcome too live and work here until she decided to retire? She set her plate down and headed for her new bedroom where she fetched a vintage leather backpack and went back to the living room; She loved that there was only one couch and everything else to perch upon happened to be bean bags, large pillows, and two hammocks. She sat in her previous seat and began to pull things from her bag, settling with a journal and a pen, writing all that she had captured about her new co-workers.

Jasper - First encounter lead to the assumption that the male in question was an addict. He is a bit gangly and with his pale complexion, multiple tattoos and piercings he gave an air of teenage rebellion. Of course, one cannot judge by image alone. He reeks of nicotine and his language is as dirty as his appearance is grungy. He doesn't seem to hold a sense of compassion for anyone and I suspect he is quite misanthropic. Encounter with The Benefactor provided information most useful; Falsely accused of murder. Until further information is obtained of his past, I deem him weak in character for crumbling under such a minor event compared to those of others. Gift: Psychometry. DO NOT TOUCH HIM!
-------
Harper - Seems to be of the friendly type. First interaction was merely a bump, albeit my blunder and apology were ignored. Encounter with The Benefactor has provided information concerning her past; Previously a prostitute. Further traits unknown. Observation continu~

She stopped her writing as screaming came from somewhere down the hall. Setting down her notebook, she tiptoed to the door and peeked out to watch the girl previously addressed as Hailey begin to cry and carry on conversation with...herself? She moved back into her apartment and dodged a charging Orca. She smiled softly at the energetic grey-furred, crystal eyed pitbull puppy and grabbed her plate containing the other steak quesadilla along with her notebook and red pen. Hailey would be an excellent study! She approached the girl, still in her socks and pajamas as she sat on the stairs next to her. “It's still warm.” She offered the warm snack to the crying girl. “I'm Novia. This is Orca.” She put on her sweetest smile as her smaller companion placed his front paws against Hailey's side and barked at her before licking her exposed arm.

After his exit, Jasper took it upon himself to finish the last of his cigarette before throwing it on the floor and stomping it out. Stuffing his hands into the pocket of his jeans, Jasper took this time to get a little more familiar with his 'new home'. He idly walked around the place, eyes judging it all. He then made his melancholy way back to his apartment. His hand reached into his pocket to retrieve the key to his new place. He wasn't surprised the corporation was mundane and drab. He only prayed that his job would be enough to keep him entertained. He was going to be a detective. "The irony," he muttered to himself, musing over the fact that people wanted to actually attempt to help him. How did they even plan on doing that? It wasn't like making him solve cases was going to suddenly make him want to be a nicer human being. This was like some sick game; force them all to face their tragedies every single day until they finally cracked. Jasper thought this through as he opened the door to apartment 277.

Daniel meandered down the hallway in an abnormally good mood. The hallways were nearly deserted save for the melancholy fellow Daniel had flirted with earlier But the younger man was the least of his concern. Things were finally starting to look up for him. He couldn’t be happier. With his eyes half-lidded and a pep in his step, Daniel sung his way down the hallway. He got out his keys once he got in close proximity, well into the chorus by then. “Heaven isn’t too far away!” Daniel paused at his door, still singing. The lack of movement beside him despite there being the silhouette of a person brought him out of his reverie. Daniel did a double take as he sent a weak glance towards the man to his left, recognizing him almost immediately. A wide smile spread across his face as he pointed at him, “Hey, I know you! I sang to you.”The younger man gave him an odd look so Daniel tried to refresh his memory, “Remember?” He mimed out his previous air guitar, grinning again before sticking his hand out, “Hi. Name’s Daniel, Daniel Isaac Brennan. And you are?”

ImageJasper frowned at the obnoxious man beside him, finding his peppy attitude absolutely irritating. When the stranger attempted to engage him in conversation, he almost snorted at the thought, but instead he kept his expression empty of any emotion, looking at the man with blank eyes. He said nothing when the guy introduced himself, simply looking at his hand then back at his face with a disgusted sneer. He could already tell that this guy was going to be a real pain in his ass.

Daniel’s smile faltered a bit as he let his hand fall to his side. “Not a handshake kind of guy, right.” Jasper rolled his eyes, shaking his head solemnly before ignoring the idiot completely and slamming his door in the stranger’s face. Daniel smirked, “Alright. Challenge Accepted.” He then retired to his own apartment, turning up the stereo high as AC/DC blared through the speakers.

Jasper locked his door, throwing his leather jacket onto his couch and plopping down, wordlessly. He wasn’t too happy at the moment, but he was pretty intrigued by his gift. Being able to see the past and future of objects sounded kickass in his opinion. Jasper reclined on his sofa, closing his eyes; ready for rest and relaxation, however, his sapphire orbs quickly fluttered open when the blaring of an electric guitar was barely muffled through the walls. He grunted in frustration. Could he not rest in peace in this godforsaken shit-hole? Was everyone hell bent on fucking up his day? He was beginning to think that these people were doing this on purpose. Jasper pushed himself to his feet, walking over the wall that was adjacent to the flat screen television and banged his fist against the plaster. “Turn that shit down, asshole!” He shouted.

Daniel grinned, hearing a yelling coming from his bedroom. He bolted through the hallway, practically leaping on top of the bed as he serenaded the wall at full volume, belting out the lyrics as he put himself up against the wall.“Back in black! I hit the sack! I been too long and I'm glad to be back! Yes I am let loose from the noose that's kept me hanging about! I keep looking at the sky cause it's gettin' me high! Forget the hearse cause I'll never die!”

Jas growled, anger festering inside of him like an infected sore. He banged his fist against it again, but was only met with the culprit's annoying voice. Huffing, the Russian kicked the wall before storming out of his apartment and going next door. He banged his fist against the entrance, eyes screaming bloody murder. Turn it off before I do it for you!”

Daniel rushed into the living room as he heard the loud bang against his door. He turned it down, but only a little, knowing it wouldn’t solve the problem. It seemed as if he couldn’t get rid of his smile, even as he sauntered to the door to dissuade the angry fire in his new neighbor. If this guy thought he got it bad, he should give the Andrews a call. He opened the door, meeting the man’s aggravated gaze, caught aback by how intensely blue they were. The thought brought a slow grin to his face. “Tell me your name.”

Jasper crossed his arms over his chest, sneering down at the bastard. His nostrils flared and his piercing icy eyes narrowed with murderous intent. He had only known the guy for less than ten minutes and he was already thinking about committing homicide. His jaw clenched, muscles flexing in pent up rage. “Fuck you,” he growled. “Keep the music down or I’ll break it, am I clear?”

"Your name is Fuck You?" Daniel asked, his face distorted in mock pity and disgust, "Wow, your parents are brutal."

Jasper rolled his eyes, “Whatever, I don’t have the patience to deal with your shit right now. Just keep it down,” with that, he turned to head back to his apartment.

Daniel's eyes widened a bit as he watched the man turn, quickly seizing him by the arm. "Wait!" Boy, if looks could kill. As soon as the other man touched his arm, Jasper gave him the ultimate death glare from hell. He clenched his fist, fighting the overwhelming urge to break the stranger’s nose. “If you want to keep your fingers,” Jasper said through clenched teeth. “You’ll let go of me.” He reached into his pocket for his father’s swiss army knife, flicking it open and allowing it to glint in the light, menacingly. Daniel's smile waned, his face one of determination as he crossed his arms over his chest, "If you don't tell me your name, I'm not turning it down."

Jasper's muscles relaxed only a bit as he turned away. He walked to his door, opening it before glancing over his shoulder at the annoying man. "Jasper," he grunted. "Next time, I'm crushing your stereo." With that said, he slammed his door shut with a grimace on his face.

Daniel watched him go, his normally cheery demeanor erased to one of apathy and faint curiosity. The door slammed shut and Daniel immediately yelled out, “My name’s Dan!” but he knew he probably wouldn’t get anything else out of his new neighbor. He sighed, letting the name of the gloomy fellow sink in. He tried it on for size, “Jasper.” He scoffed, his mouth perking up in his trademark lopsided grin, “Jasper.” He liked the way it sounded, how it made him grin for no reason. He pursed his lips, nodding as he reentered his apartment. He turned the radio down so that the noise couldn’t vacate the thick lining of his apartment walls. They may be ‘sound proof’ but Dan was proof enough that it didn’t live up to its name. Needless to say, he was looking forward to getting to know this Jasper guy a bit more.

“Prick,” Jas, scoffed as he ventured deeper into his apartment. The only thought in his mind at that moment was: I am not looking forward to getting to know this Dan guy any more than I have to.

Image“Grey, it is a pleasure for you to offer coffee. I’d like to take up the offer sometime if it’s no trouble, and perhaps the others would like some too. I will ask the maids to gather a list from each of you about your clothing preferences. Though, about the wine…I’m sorry to say that I didn’t put that there…” As he spoke he grew silent and his hand tightened around her hand causing discomfort, but she said nothing about the oddity. “Ahh sorry about that miss. But I can’t inform you much on the wine.” "Oh, ok then." Her voice was whispered as she watched the man walk away from the conversations, which she didn't mind much. Note, you'll be making lots and lots of coffee later. Looking around the room she noticed how most had left leaving the sparkling place almost hostless. Feeling a lump of lonely in the bottom of her stomach she didn't like it like she usually did, this place was making her feel all sorts of abnormal. Crossing her arms over her chest she straightened up and with her heeled shoes took her leave like most.

Looking around the hall it had few life as well, More people... She didn't know what to do, not at all, but she was a fast thinker. Glancing around she noticed the black haired boy she tried speaking to before that had said nothing in return. He was Alton she thought Mr. Benefactor had said, and he was an animal rescuer if she recalled correctly. Smoothing back her hair she clacked over to him trying to catch him before he returned back to his room. "Um, Alton." Sticking her arm at in front of him to cut off his walking she let it prop against the wall. "I'm Grey, so how are you enjoying things?" With a small shrug of her shoulders the air around her thicker from lack of words she could think of. Biting her bottom lip from habit she searched her mind for topics. Friendly... coffee... "How about you come with me to have a cup of coffee? I mean we'll be working together, so why not get to know each other more?" Not really waiting for his answer she took his wrist firmly in her hand and pulled him to where the stairs were. "With no elevator this of course will be a long walk, so why not talk on the way down to the fourth floor?" She at least though her room was on the fourth floor, hopefully.

As walking down the stairs she let the coolness of the metal railing slip through her pores as she held on to it. The room was calm and silent besides the sounds of her walking echoing through the spiral stair case. The small turns reminded her of Cinnamon Twist that she use to bake, sugar flakes that melted lightly on the tongue once entering the mouth; maybe she'd bake some. "Before I came here I owned a coffee shop, it wasn't to popular but money came in and the coffee broke the surface of perfect." Pondering what she had just spoken she stopped and turned to him, "I'm sorry how vain that sounded, I just take pride in the coffee I make." Sheepishly smiling she hoped she wasn't being a bother to the boy she had brought down the stairs without him agreeing. "I'll make you some if you want," taking a pause she searched his face for any signs of irritation, "Alton." Saying his name was strange, or at least saying it so formally. The taste it left behind was bittersweet, nice to hold a conversation but strange to have one so one to one.

"Looks like we're here." Once all the step walking was done her voice was airy from all the walking, she was tired and needed to sit. Going to room 214 she opened the door, leaving it so encase he walked in as well, and flopped done to her bed which was immediately behind her door. She didn't have a living room, but there was a comfortable looking light blue couch that her company could sit on or maybe she could hold their attention in the kitchen. Jumping back to her feet that's where she decided that's the room she could go to, so she did. She's fix some coffee, some food for herself and maybe Alton, just maybe.

Going to the coffee maker she opened it up, No water. Pulling back random doors she stopped until she found where the cups were. Getting out a measuring cup she closed all the doors, turned the sink on, filled the measuring cup to three, then poured it into the maker. Looking at a small rack next to the maker it held different types of coffee. Ruining her finger across them she bit her bottom lip. Stopping her finger over the one labeled French Vanilla she plopped it out and put it into the maker. This shouldn't take to long. Bending over in an almost perfect L shape she let her hair flow towards the ground. Pulling a hair tie from her right wrist she fiddled with it in her hair into she created a bun on the top of her head. Perfect enough I guess. she could feel the loss strands tickling the back of her neck, but she did nothing about it, all she did was pull out a mug where the cups had been and waited for it to full with her delicious coffee that she didn't feel like making from scratch.

Hailey just continued to cry, no one noticed really and that was good. At least she believed no one noticed, in fact she had hoped no one noticed the episode she had. The need for someone unrealistic would give people the idea that she was mental even if Hailey couldn't tell the difference between reality and unreality she still hated when people called her crazy or mental. Holding her arms tightly around her legs as she pressed them hard against her chest before she knew it she heard a voice next to her. “It's still warm.” She heard the girl say next to her. Oh no, she thought scrambling for some kind of thought. Her first thought was that possibly it was her best friend coming to comfort her or to talk to her. As soon as her sobs began to slow she felt something lick her arm which not only startled her but confused her. Lifting her head her eyes were puffy and she was sniffling, looking around sadly. Pure confusion seemed to have still been in her system because all she felt like doing was crying and she just wanted to jump up to get answers. Obviously that is not what she did though. “I'm Novia. This is Orca.” Novia had mentioned the dog’s name. Hesitantly she put her hand out and allowed the dog to sniff her hand before gently petting the dog. In an attempt to stay calm and not act childish she slowly pulled her hand away then looked over at Novia. "I'm Hailey, its-it’s nice to meet you." She sniffled, blinking back a couple tears that had momentarily threatened to slip out. Glancing down at the food for even just a second made her stomach do a couple flips. No she wasn't hungry, would that be rude to say that? Would she be a bad person if she didn't take the offer? Who knew, but just the sight of food made her sick right now. "By the way, no thank you for-for the food. It was nice of you though." She added considerately.

Nervous fingers slid along the edge of her shirt as her mind scrambled for words. Penelope's and other unknown voices screamed at her in head. Her head felt like it was about to explode while she tried to figure something out. Her mind drifted off as I usually does when stuff like this happened. It was Novia's fault it was her fault for how she was. Aradia understood why this happened, where was she? Why isn't she here with her? Tears burned her eyes again at the thought, looking over at Novia she sniffled, blinking the tears back for a second time. "I-I promise I never cry this much." She told her, breathing in deeply as she slid her legs down so they laid flat on the ground. Once again she held out her hand for the puppy, mind drifting off again as she place gentle strokes on the animal. The voices screamed in her head again, making her head throb. "Do you have any thoughts on this place already? I mean it’s not that bad right?" Squeaked out Hailey. Her gaze stayed on the dog in front of her when she spoke to Novia. It was amazing at how fast Hailey had gone from just completely sobbing to completely in her own world. A habit she had gotten a while go she had taught herself how to act around people. This way people you weren't completely mental even though it was still quite evident that you were mental. Not that she could help it other than trying to be "normal". "Do you like your 'Gift of Innocence'?" Hailey questioned curiously, suddenly questioned were able to flow freely to her.

Taking her hand back from petting the dog she begins to mess with her sleeve and humming softly to herself. Nerves were obviously really setting in. Most of the time she doesn't talk to most people, not because she is anti-social or anything just because of the fear of being rejected. When she talks to Aradia or her family she knows they would accept her. As for people she just meets that is a different subject. Tummy softly growling she looked down at her lap. "Also I'm j-just curious, but what brought you over here? Are you-" She stopped herself, sucking in her entire bottom lip as she begins to rub her teeth over her bottom lip. After a couple seconds she releases it then sighs. Yes she saw her in the group, she knew that, so why was she about to ask her if she was real? Unless that group wasn't real then Novia was real and she didn't need to hear the last question that had only briefly been on her mind. Oh how Hailey hoped Novia wouldn't ask what she was about to say. What would Hailey say, how would she respond. "You’re stupid, did you see that, look at you crazy mental girl sitting here. What's wrong with you?" The angry voices echoed in her head, looking down at her lap she ignored the voices in her head. That was the last thing she needed was what people called her conscious- but other professionals decided to call it schizophrenia- to tell her negative things. This girl believed she could tell reality from non-reality and had great social behaviors. Yeah okay sometimes she would flip out on people for no reason, but don't most people do that? Sighing softly she hoped Novia wouldn't find her weird or possibly crazy. She kind of needed someone to be there for her right now, especially when she thought Aradia was mad at her.

Novia shrugged at the decline of her food and set the plate next to her. She watched Orca climb into Hailey's lap, a smirk forming against her lips before she began to observe and analyze the blonde female. Recalling that she earlier shouted for a Penelope while in tears and her timid behavior at the current time as well as context clues from The Benefactor, Novia came to the conclusion that Hailey was very dependent. Being on her own didn't suit her. She watched carefully as Hailey played with her sleeve, immediately entering a sort of daze. A possible nervous tick - The immediate switch of moods hinted at a possible mental disorder. I never cry this much. Novia somehow doubted that. Questioned on how she felt about the place, she gave a shrug. “I love my room. Or apartment, I should say. Nicholas seems friendly. Maybe too friendly. Jasper's a piece of shit. Scarlet has a certain air about her that's admirable. And The Benefactor seems kind. But it could all be a façade. I will stay long enough to make sense of it before coming to any final conclusions or signing any contracts.”

She leaned back some and closed her eyes as Hailey questioned her Gift of Innocence and her reason for being there. Immediately her eyes snapped open and the Benefactor's words rang in her head. ...you will be the Negotiator, negotiating with various salesmen for needed goods. If any of the workers or I need something we will turn to you for your negotiation skills will be so amazing it will be as though they cannot refuse. You will persuade them with “Do we have an accord?” and the item is yours! I trust that you are smart enough to know the correct amount to negotiate for and will give her a budget to abide by. A thought clicked in her head and she decided that she should try out her so-called negotiating super powers. “Let's make a deal,” she started, smiling politely as she turned to face Hailey, her attitude emanating warmth while her eyes held a distant and cold gleam. “You seem like a curious individual - I say this because you yourself seem curious about others and I am quite curious about you. So, Miss Hailey. I would like to strike a deal. Here's what I offer: I will tell you where I'm from and why I'm here. I'll entertain you with stories of my countless adventures. I will allow you to visit me any time you please and be a shoulder for you to cry on. You can come to me for anything. And here's all you need to do: Allow me to study you. To figure out the inner workings of your mind. To probe you for questions about your past. Who knows, maybe I might even be able to help you. But. You cannot tell anyone about this deal or about any conversation we exchange.”

She paused as Hailey looked at her unsteadily but Novia extended her hand to shake. As Hailey grabbed her hand, Novia gave a light squeeze, her voice suddenly becoming as smooth as silk, her confidence boosted as she felt irresistible. “Do we have an accord?” She flashed a smile and watched as Hailey nodded slowly, unable to deny Novia's request. “Very well. I'm here because I'm an illegal immigrant from Cuba. I've tussled with cops and Immigration to fight deportation. I've been stealing things from jewelry and wallets to cars and identities since I was twelve. I've competed in illegal street races and conned many people. I used to deal, make, and run drugs for a while. I'm addicted to body art and possessing material items. I can't get into college because of my illegal and Wanted status. I have a lot of money and valuable things and a 302 IQ. So. There you have it. What's your story?” Novia figured she would be here for a while and Hailey seemed like she needed a friend. And a psychologist. And maybe some Ritalin. Either way, she was glad to rope in a willing study subject. She honestly didn't plan on being friends with the girl simply just because. Though she had a feeling that she might get Hailey into trouble with that Aradia girl if Aradia felt like Novia was stealing away her friend. Nothing she couldn't handle herself.

Alton was heading back towards his room, head down with his fingers scratching absently at his wrist as he tried to comprehend why it felt like a cool rush instead of the hot friction sensation he had become accustom too. Deep in his own mind he hadn’t expected anyone to try and bother him, but sure enough, he was stopped.

“ Um, Alton.” He paused and turned his head to look for whoever called him. It was that loud girl that seemed to always have something to say, or someone to coddle up to. He couldn’t remember her name though, some sort of color though, something with an aye sound. He just wanted to back to his room though, he was feeling less motivated than usual to socialize with anyone.

"I'm Grey, so how are you enjoying things?" The statement was almost laughable, and he could feel a heavy bitterness pooling in his gut at the thought of enjoying himself here. So far all had seen was a bunch of people with sad stories that hadn’t been able to get over it. Not that he was really one to talk, but he didn’t consider himself emotionally damaged. He wasn’t haunted by his past, he was ok. “It’s okay I guess.”

"How about you come with me to have a cup of coffee? I mean we'll be working together, so why not get to know each other more?" Coffee… was not something Alton found himself interested in. And he didn’t want to spend more time with her, but then she grabbed his wrist and he felt himself seize up. And underneath his palm he could feel her germs squirming between their contact and even though he didn’t feel pain anymore the images her still real and he couldn’t make them go away anymore by biting his lip. I need to wash my hands. He thought desperately as his heart began racing, she dragged him somewhere and her words blurred together and his breathing huffed between his lips in short discreet gasps to hide that he was having a problem. She dragged him for a long time too, and Alton kept his head down and thought of his drawings and the things he read in his books, his free hand clenched and unclenched exactly seventeen times before he could focus again.

He didn’t like it, the close contact she had taken to. And she was talking, he decided to focus on that instead, panicking didn’t solve shit. He tried to listen instead of feel, and it helped slightly. “ I'm sorry how vain that sounded, I just take pride in the coffee I make.” No not vain, it more so close to the word endearing. “It’s not vain to take pride in the things you care about.” But when he said it, it didn’t sound quite right and his hand clenched by his side. “Things you care about, things you care about,” It was acting up again. “Things you care about. Things. You. Care about.” He sucked in a breath quickly, four was enough. He pushed his thoughts forward, Alton for one enjoyed his drawings and his large collection of books, but he wasn’t one for throwing that out into the open. He much preferred keeping to himself.

“Alton.” He was expecting her to say something else, but she stopped with his name. He wondered if he had missed something from before, and he probably did. Or, maybe, this was just how people interacted, he didn’t get a lot of personal social interaction anymore, he preferred the quietness of being by himself, or rudeness of an agitated person. It seemed like too much of a contradictory for even his own self to understand. In the end he responded with a dull, “Grey.”

He walked into the room and tapped the door frame with the tip of his middle finger before walking in. The inside of her room was drastically different from his, for one her room wasn’t filled with cardboard boxes and he wondered briefly if she had already unpacked her things and he was just slow. When she began making coffee he briefly wondered if she had cleaned all those dishes before using them, but again he forced it down.

“I wouldn’t mind a cup, sorry for the trouble.” Even if he didn’t want it, politeness was key in social interaction. He moved towards her and tapped the counter before he leaned against it, watching her as she made it.

Grey Amor Scott

ImageWhen thinking about the coffee she lifted the lid back up, replaced it in her hand, and looked it over. Not only was it instant made, but it was her blend in it, actually all the coffees on the rack were hers, My own instant made! As coffee grinds began spilling to her skin she knew it would be best to put it back to let the brew finish. Letting the lid of the maker click again to it's home. “I wouldn’t mind a cup, sorry for the trouble.” As the coffee made she gave her full attention to him with a welcoming grin. The feel of giving others her makings could bring more joy to her than allowed, but still pleasant filled. "Absolutely no trouble!" As the words swam from her mouth she noticed the tap then lean that Alton presented, "OCD?" She may had been asking, but she was pretty sure she had been right about it. With the studies she had to taken in college she had to know how to read signs from the way people talked, acted, body potions, and so on. "I'm just guessing from the taps and the repeating you did on the stairs." Resting her hands against the contain she sighed as she relaxed her body. "I have some annoying ticks myself." Rolling her eyes to herself she walked to the fridge and pulled out another bottle of the wine she had drank before.

Shutting the door with her foot she began reading the label, Don't let the taste fool you, for this is not alcohol, but a supplement that affects the brain... blah, blah, blah, skip, skip, skip... this shall make you happy beyond your wildest dreams. Feeling a flash of anger she let the bottle fall to the ground exploding into a mixture of red and crystallized rain. "Crap!" The floor to the right of the kitchen table had been stained in a dark claret color, a mess made by an idiotic Grey. "I'm sorry about this mess." Scanning the room quickly she caught sight of a broom in the corner of the far wall that she hasn't seen before, Such a strange place. Not pondering for to long she maneuvered around the shards of glass to reach it. With her back to the mess she reached for the broom once reaching the wall.

"Mess cleaned."

Raising a brow to the sound that was more mechanical than human she turned to see the mess was gone. A stunned look plastered to her face as she let the broom settle back to it's resting place. Examining the floor there was no more mess to worry about, no evidence behind that it ever existed. "Did you see-"

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Cries from the coffee maker drew her away from her sentence to it instead. Pressing gentle on the off button she pulled the mug out by it's creamy porcelain handle and handed to Alton. "It's French Vanilla, I hope it's to your liking." Glimpsing of déjà vu flashed in her minds eye as she remembered saying the same before to her husband. Tears welled up on the rims of her eyes. She had been always in a mood of adulation with him, but now she was disconsolate for so long, but now she felt a glim of hope creeping in which scared her. Breathing deeply she tried to pull the edges of her lips up to create an allusion of pep, but she couldn't pull it off. Paint splattered tear drops hit her shirt as she tired laughing it off. "Pointless. Blowing it off she used what little arm strength she had to pull herself up on to the table.

Crossing her legs she let her head flop to her hands. "I hope you're enjoying your coffee." The well of water finally ran dry leaving behind a sign of puffy and red to her face. "You're an animal rescuer, right? Well, I'm a consular." Stating the obvious she picked up the bottled of Happy Juice, popped it, then began to glop it down; she needed some happy supplement. "If everyone had this there'd be no need for consulars." Setting the bottle down she squeezed on to the edge of the table as she hunched over and kicked her legs. "If you ever need to be consoled I'll always have open ears, and I'll be able to feel your emotion pain with you." In a way she was trying to make small puns, but wasn't sure if her point was getting across. The comment was almost laughable though. Grey did wish to be a psychologist, and this was the closet she'd get, but she at times did have trouble listening. She was one to zone out if the topic didn't grab her enough, but with her feeling their pain cause it to be different? She hoped so at least, to help people with horrible things going on like the ones from her past.

Novia and Hailey had her questions which was a good thing. She liked when people would actually answer her questions instead of ignoring her. After that she had offered to make a deal which instantly obviously struck huge curiosity in her. She wanted to know what this offer was, intrigued she had listened to her and what she was offering as a deal to the girl. Once the offer was out on the table she for some reason had decided to make the deal. After shaking the other girl's hand she smiled gently. She reached out for the puppy after making the deal, gently stroking the sweet animal on its head as she listened to Novia explain her past. It was like story time like at her mental institute. Nurses were so kind to her there, and the women there would tell her crazy stories. It was an amazing story she had to give her props for that. There were times during the story where she had wished her history could be like that, but it wasn't. "I like your body art, it's pretty cool." She complimented the girl, smiling lightly. "I just have a cloud tattoo on my hip." Hailey added sweetly before placing a soft kiss on the top of the dog's head. "I wish I had some cool stories to tell," Pausing for a moment she let out a soft sigh.

"You know most people I have met in my life tell me they love me. They tell me I'm the most perfect girl in the world." Stopping she released the puppy in her lap, messing with her sleeve as her expression saddened. "They must have not loved me that much if they let me go. They let me leave their homes even after saying that." Looking over at Novia to see if she was following she cleared her throat and rubbed a scar located just above the edge of her sleeve. "I never quite understood since I was only five when my parents just vanished from my life, leaving me in a different county in a new home with new people that I didn't know. I spent a lot of time just moving from home to home just because supposedly I had to." She had admitted to the female. "I don't remember most of the people. I mean I barley even remember my own parent's what they look like, if they cared, and if they are still alive today. I've been an orphan most my life until I was adopted by my parents Victor and Gracie Daniels. They barely knew me and treated me so kindly. They are such kind people even with my... problem." A soft sniffle came from Hailey as her gaze continued to be just fixed on her lap and the puppy sitting on it. "I don't believe I have a problem, but a doctor I have seen has called me a mean name. I can't help I don't understand and that you don't see what I see. My foster parents don't seem to notice my problems, and Aradia seems to "accept" these problems. She doesn't seem to care about them unlike other people who I have encountered in my life. If they don't seem to notice my "problems" then I shouldn't be considered something right? I shouldn't be considered "Mentally Unstable" or what not, right?" Finally she lifted a slightly sad gaze to Novia, half begging that she wouldn't go blabbing off to everyone about her and her life.

Really only Aradia and her family knows about her past just because she hasn't wanted to tell anyone about her past until after making this recent deal. After saying all this she hadn't mentioned her foster father who had beat her and Aradia who would take her anger out on her. She hadn't mentioned unintentionally hurting herself when the voices in her head was nagging her, she didn't mention why she was mentally unstable and why doctor's thought she was the way she was. She left out the part of going to a mental hospital even when she was young. These were parts she could explain later, more likely when she was actually able to give herself time to even think about what to say and how to explain it. "You just... you don't even know. Anyways, I hope that wasn't confusing. I really do hope that actually made sense because I like to ramble some times and I hope that's not what just happened." She let out a long breath, rubbing her eyes, and even kind of digging the palm of her hands into her eyes before setting her hands down. Her hands were slightly shaky as she lifted one to gently stroke the animal on her lap once again. "There is still so much to tell you I just thought maybe you would want to start off with that for now, and learn more about me later on." Admitted Hailey before lifting her gaze to Novia as she awaited uneasily for the girl's response to what she had just explained. The thought of her friend Aradia made her even more depressed, was the girl angry with her? Afterwards she had stormed off and her best friend was nowhere in sight. She wanted Aradia to be here, but she wasn't. Where was she? Hailey had no idea but it shouldn't matter because at the moment she was talking with Novia about their pasts and such.

An unsure Zeus walked around after talking with the Benefactor and leaving without a single word. He kind of just wandered around the boy's floor. Only once did he enter his room to give it a good thorough look around to see if it would suit him. Even though it wasn't like he had high expectations or expected to get some kind of really nice place. His room consisted of a small kitchen with a microwave, a coffee pot, a sink, and other necessities. It wasn't a huge kitchen, more of a kitchen that was for like a hotel room or a very small apartment which was kind of what his room was like, a small apartment. It was nice, he had this lush bed in the middle of the room with blue and purple coverings for his bed. His two favorite colors. One night table on each side of his bed which both held cool looking lamps. Connecting to his bedroom/kitchen was his bathroom which had this huge tub. As well in the bathroom was a shower, a medium sized walk in closet, a closed off toilet, and a single sink. It was a nice place compared to where he was once living with his... mother. Anything was better than there to be completely honest. That was pretty much the reason he had ran off was to find a better place than where he was living with his mother and her awful friends. The sudden image of his mother made him shiver with fear, and he ended up creeping out of his bedroom.

His arms wrapped around him as if he were cold, but it was only for "security". Momentarily did he glance around, and even at some point and time did he momentarily doze off. He continued to walk casually, looking around at his new environment where he would be staying. Taking stairwell after stairwell, hall after hall did he finally decide to look at the one hall that he preferred not to go down. The female's hall, but at some point and time he would have to talk to a woman again. He would have to get over his traumatizing fear. Ever so slowly did he walk into the hallway, glancing up and down, and even looking at a couple numbers on the door as if that would help him at all in doing what ever it was that he had been planning on doing. The psychologist traveled down the hallway, looking around at a couple pictures on the wall even though the walls were pretty blank except for the wallpaper that stuck to it, and the occasional paintings he would see as he continued his path down the length of the long hallway which kept every female's rooms.

Novia listened intently, maintaining a look of concern as she wrote in her notebook. Okay, so she was right; Hailey was a bit...off. Alright, she had to admit that this place was a mecca for studies. For a moment during Hailey's recounting of her past Novia felt...something. A twinge of sympathy? Couldn't be - She didn't relate to people. For her to relate she had to care and what did she care for this girl that she didn't even know? Of course she wouldn't form any sort of attachment to Hailey; This was purely for research. Dismissing the idea, she closed her notebook and put away her pen. “Actually I don't mind if you ramble and I do encourage it. Rambling means that your words are uncensored and you are saying what is exactly on your mind which makes it easier for me to grasp who you really are. I also don't mind taking time to listen to you. It feels good to let people in, doesn't it?”

She wouldn't know, of course. She hadn't let anyone in for quite some time and she certainly wasn't going to start now. Deep in the back of her mind she knew that it was highly possible and probable that she would eventually become some semblance of who she once was. But it would take more than tossing her into a group of fellow degenerates and crazies and voodoo therapy with magical powers. She sighed softly and wiped her hand down her face. “I need to go speak with the Benefactor. Join me for dinner lately and we can talk more. Her leaving was abrupt as she grabbed her plate and placed it atop her notebook, waving to Hailey with her free hand before shuffling down the hall to lock and close her door. She was back towards the stairs, Orca having locked Hailey near to death (figuratively) before struggling his way up the steps behind Novia as she traveled to the sixth floor. As she came to the Benefactor's office she could feel her brow crease as she knocked on the door.

The absence of another presence in the apartment made the loneliness almost oppressing. He passed the kitchen, into the living room, turning off the stereo to avoid any further altercations with his neighbor. The silence was suffocating. Daniel half expected his brother to come walking around the corner, but the sheer knowledge that he wouldn't made him all to aware of the seclusion. Your rooms provide everything you need, Daniel mused mockingly, almost bitterly, If that were true I would've been given a roommate. With nothing else to do, he took the initiative to explore his new apartment. The small hallway led to three doors, one of which was his bedroom. He decided to go in there and get better acquainted with the way it was set up. He opened the closet beside the door and saw a supply of work clothes and a tux. Must be for the dinner party, Daniel assumed, shutting the door and heading to the other side of the room. Behind that door was a master bathroom.

Daneil whistled, taking it all in, “Impressive.”

He left his bedroom, checking the door to his left to find a guest bathroom. He gave a nod of approval before shutting that and going into the room across from his bedroom. Upon entry, his eyes lit up. It was his own little home office, complete with his own computer and a few posters he'd had in his old bedroom in Dick's apartment. He sat down, logging onto Skype to see if there was anyone online he could talk to. Out of all of his friends, his father was the only one online. Which was odd, considering the patriarch of the Brennan family wasn't as in tune with computers as the Brennan sons, but it was still a pleasant surprise. He started a video call, crossing his arms on the desk with an anxious smile plastered on his face. It only took a moment before his father's visage came into view and Daniel beamed.

ImageHe wasn't looking into the camera, his attention cast elsewhere instead and Daniel could see the intense focus in his eyes as well as hear the faint sound of Nirvana in the background. That's why he was online, Daniel chuckled, he's in his garage. “Hey Dad,” he greeted into the computer, hearing his own voice echo off of the cemented walls. No doubt his father was fixing up one of his vehicles. “What brings you to the garage today?”

"A black 1967 Chevrolet Impala." Robert Brennan replied, looking back over his shoulder to vaguely glance at his son as the corners of Daniel's smile nearly reached his ears. He suppressed a smirk at his youngest son's elation, knowing full well what was going on at the moment. He was having one of those 'fangasms' the boy kept prattling on about. He averted his eyes to vehicle in front of him, off camera, glancing between the array of pictures on the cork-board behind it and the car itself. "I stripped the motor and sent that to Rick's shop so he could clean it out and replace the rotted parts."

You're making Baby!” Daniel nearly squealed, “Oh my God! Can I see it?”

"No," Robert chuckled, "It may not be much of one now, but it's supposed to be a surprise."

For who?”

To that Robert cocked a brow, looking directly at his son with an incredulous glare, "Seriously?" he deadpanned, "Aren't you supposed to be the smart one? Your brother doesn't watch that shit."

Supernatural?” Daniel asked, knowing exactly what show they were both referring to. “I don't know why, it's a great show.”

"It is the most homoerotic show on television."

Shut up, they're my boys.” Daniel smiled, watching his father sit down in front of his computer, “Thanks Dad.”

"Huh?" Robert mused, turning his attention solely on his son. He saw the appreciation and adoration in Daniel's amber eyes and smirked, "Think nothing of it. I needed another project, and that car is pretty much the only one you know everything about so I figured if I put one together for you, you wouldn't be disappointed." A moment of silence passed between them, before Daniel's father realized he didn't recognize wherever his son was, "That's not Dick's apartment, is it? Where are you?"

Daniel shrugged, “I moved out.” He looked around aimlessly, “I wanted to stop mooching off him for room and board so I got a place of my own. I've got a new job too, which should be interesting."

"Should I be concerned?" That phrase in itself meant more than just what it read. That was Robert's way of asking his sons whether or not they could handle the situation by themselves. It was his way of saying that he'd be there if they needed him and all they had to do was ask for help. It was an unspoken symbol of trust. With that single phrase he put all of his trust and confidence in them, letting them know without a shadow of a doubt that he believed in them. So he didn't do much more than nod when Daniel replied, “I've got it, Dad.” They talked for about an hour or two about nothing in particular, just catching up. The call ended when Daniel figured he should get ready, and he said goodbye to his father, promising to text him whenever he could. He went to his bedroom, opening his closet to find something suitable for a formal dinner.

Grey Amor Scott

ImageMissing the sweet taste of the deep red liquid made gee lust for the taste. Going back to her fridge she popped open a new bottle. The cringing of woe deteriorated to nothing but a slithering recoil as her drink swam down her throat. Happy recollections and bubbly thoughts made the girl hope from a slight outburst. Letting the glass make its trancing all-around fullness to the clear blue surface. With a bottom lip being strangled by white rounded pearls contributed a small single flow of a silver taste to flow lightly across her tongue. The taste made her haze loosely as she watched over her guested that appeared uncomfortable the way she would without the untitled drink.

"Excuse me for a second, please?" Not regarding what he said she sprung from where she had been and found her way from the maze which was her new home. When in the hall she leaned against her door and slid to the floor. Her knees bent up to her chest from instinct; she was in a ball of solitude. Grey was in a happy cloud, so abnormal that this all was in a dream state to her, but of course she would try her best to adapt. When drifting back to a fullness she let her hair down from the messiness of the bun and let her eyes adjust to the darkness of the hall. Why isn't it lit up like before? The question was simple and she decided not to press on it with.

Clop.

A faint noise, a creeping step, captivated her attention on the spot as someone entered the once sleeping hallway. The psychologist. The once half awake lights grew strong and brilliant from his presence. She said no words to him, maybe because to her he was nameless and only carried a title similar to hers, could it be that she had no need to talk to anyone else than the person she was already trying to keep interest in, or maybe she felt a heat of intimidation crashed over her like a storm of waves. What was she to do in a room with a man with the job she longed for? With he having so did that mean he was smarted than her? Jealousy may have been one emotion, but another note was clear: she wasn't the best with people. Her pretending could only travel a distance before one could realize she didn't care at all. Maybe this caused her to not get the role she deemed worthy.

ImageSheepishly smiling to the stranger she watched as he walked, uneasy and almost looked scared. "I've been studying psychology for years, so if you ever need help I'm your gal." Giving him a look over he looked about her age, a nice looking young man, not that it even mattered to Grey. He seemed nervous, which did intrigue Grey to the fullest. Thinking about her new abilities this would be a good time to try it, but wouldn't that be rude to do use it without permission? She wasn't sure how to though, was it just doing it or using a new given muscle in the brain? These were questions she'd have to ask Mr. Benefactor later, somewhat important for her new job.

"Did you have any prior knowledge of your new profession before coming here? I mean the brain and the way people function isn't something you can just learn over night." Using her hands as she spoke she ended with the thickness of her Greek accent sneaking through from her new found interest. Here she was sparking new conversation ablaze to a new person starting a fire, but this time it was different. "Like, Dissociative Identity Disorder is the correct term for having split personalities, and that they're still studies on it because it still isn't completely known. Did you know that most patients that have it were abused as kids or had some traumatic trauma in their life? Do you even know how to console such people with an array of disorders?" Her voice climaxed with each passing word; she couldn't help but love an intellectual conversation. If he didn't understand the job she word harass him until he did, there was just no way she'd let him disgrace what a good psychologist would do. Setting her hands to her sides she pushes herself off the ground with a jump. Her hair flew up then landed in her face, and with this she shuck her head like a dog letting it fall to its place on her shoulders. Walking to him she couldn't hold back her grin of excite; another person she hoped would be as intelligent as her to speak to.
