ABILITIES
Image

ImageOne of the many reasons the Light District has ruled over Aurum for so long is due to its wide and diverse range of abilities among those that yield its power. Light can do many things, but what each citizen can do varies from person to person.

Light Generation: The ability to create and shape photons of light. On Aurum, Oliver was one of the most skilled at this. He could create light of various intensities and have them bend to his every will. Shape it into any form of weapon, shield, just about anything one could imagine. On Earth, he can only generate small amounts of it and only manipulate larger amounts if it is generated by another source. He can shape it into smaller items, but his ability to create weapons is limited to things like pocket knives and small handguns.

Regeneration: The ability to regenerate one's body with the use of light photons. (not to be confused with Healing). While on Aurum, Oliver could not only use this on himself, but he could use it on others as well, as long as it was a physical injury. Despite how deep the injury was, he could will the body to regenerate back to its perfect state. On Earth, he uses mainly to cure small cuts and bruises.

Visual Illusions: The ability to manipulate others into seeing visual images that are not actually there, or into seeing something in a different way than what it truly is. This is the ability that took Oliver the longest to master. He grew from creating small optical illusions to being able to generate very large and complicated worlds around those he targeted to deceive. On Earth, this ability is almost non-existent. The most he can do is manipulate shadows, create optical illusions or deceive others into thinking he's someone else.

Light Speed: The ability to move at the speed of light. While the average Aurum citizen has the ability to move faster than the average human, the light district, in particular, can master using light photons that allow them to move from one place to the other at the speed of light. Oliver is able to do this fairly easily, but on Earth, it has proven to be very exhausting and takes a lot out of his body.

Color Manipulation: The ability to create, shape and manipulate color. Though Oliver had always thought this to be a somewhat useless ability while on Aurum, it did come in handy on Earth by allowing him to change his hair and eye color in hopes of fitting in a little easier.

Absolute / Angelic Light: The ability to generate a blanket of light so thick and bright, it is capable of temporarily or permanently blinding anyone that is near it, as well as dulling the rest of the senses. This ability is rare and unique to the royal family. It's one that has been passed down the Argenti family for generations. Oliver has only ever used it in training within the confines of the training field. He's afraid of it because he has little control over how strong it is, and refuses to use it unless he's forced to.

APPEARANCE

Oliver looks exactly like one would expect someone from the light district's royal family to look like. He stands at around five feet, nine inches and weighing 141 pounds. His face is small and his features are simple, yet his look is unique. Unlike his older brothers who are known for being tall, handsome and hold a very masculine beauty, Ollie is known for his rather cute and innocent appearance. At times or from certain angles, he may look almost child-like. A small part of him has always wished he looked more like his brothers and his father, but Oliver isn't unhappy with the way he looks. In fact, he often takes advantage of it.

He's got brilliantly silver hair, usually kept at ears' length. And light eyes that vary in color, from a bluish-gray to a deep ocean blue, depending on the lighting. Though these features may be unique on Earth and often assumed to be fictitious, they're very common in the light district. In a way, they represent where he comes from, his city, his family, his home. The one thing that has changed the most about his appearance is his wardrobe. On Aurum, Oliver was expected to dress how a prince should. He never thought much of it, as it's what he'd been taught since birth. On Earth, however, he dresses the way any normal boy in his twenties would. Simple jeans and t-shirts tend to be his go-to. He doesn’t dress up unless he’s doing something work-related, in which case he wears what his stylists give him. Rather than flashy, he dresses with the purpose of blending into the crowd.

His body is free of tattoos and marks, save his district emblem which can be found on his neck, right below his right ear. He’s got two piercings on each ear, though he doesn’t often use them outside of his profession.

Image
PERSONALITY
Image

ImageThe easiest way to describe Oliver is to compare him to a puppy. He’s a generally positive boy. There aren’t many things that are capable of bringing him down or ruining his mood. His positivity is contagious and capable of lifting others’ moods in an instant. It’s one of the many traits that attract people to him. He’s not an attention seeker, nor does he go out of his way to be the center of a conversation. However, because of his sociable personality and his knack for making those around him feel comfortable and interesting, he often ends up being just that.

Much like a puppy, Oliver is a loyal friend. It doesn’t take much for him to become attached to others, nor does he expect a lot from them. So long as you show him love, he will love you unconditionally for as long as you will have him. He will willingly do anything for those he he cares about regardless of how it may affect him. That, coupled with his constant need to see the good in others can make him appear a bit naive and easily manipulated. Traits that are not recommended for a royal to have.

He tends to be quite playful and will almost always act on emotions rather than logic and reasoning, yet another trait he’s been taught as a child that needs to be controlled in order for him to make a proper ruler. However, what may don’t know about him is that he’s got the leadership skills every light citizen is known for. He may play around often but he knows when it’s time to be serious. He’s compassionate and empathetic of other’s feelings and is careful of what he says and does so as to not accidentally hurt someone.

He’s a very easy person to get along with, however, he doesn’t react well to insults or criticism. He takes such things to heart, but rather than holding a grudge he will continuously stress over what he can do to make himself better. He can be quite stubborn this way. Despite how many people tell him he’s good at something, all it takes is one person to tell him he’s not and he will firmly believe it. He may lack a bit of confidence at times, but when push comes to shove, he will take charge and do what needs to be done.

HISTORY
Image

ImageOliver Argenti was the last born into the Royal family of five. The king, his queen and their three precious princes. From the moment he was born, his parents cared for and nurtured him almost to the point of being over-protective. As he grew older, Oliver began to realize that the way his parents treated his brothers differed greatly from how they treated him. While his brothers were trained to become great kings in the near future and allowed to roam Aurum as they pleased, Oliver could barely leave the Argenti estate. When he did, he would be accompanied by four to five bodyguards. At first, he chose to believe that it was because of their love for him and how much they wanted to protect the youngest of the family. However, he soon began to realize that rather than an excess of love, their actions came from a lack of faith. Not only did they believe Oliver wasn't cut out to be a leader, but they saw him as a naive and innocent child that couldn't do so much as protect himself.

This hurt Oliver most of all. Which is why when the plan of sending the younger generations from each district away to safety emerged, Oliver fought with every ounce of strength he had in him in hopes that his parents would let him stay. In hopes that they believed in him and his abilities enough to allow him to fight alongside his brothers. However, this was not the case and despite how long and hard he protested, he was sent away to Earth with no idea of when or if he'd be able to go back home.

His first weeks on the new planet were rough, to say the least. Everything was so different. The scenery, the people, the culture, the technology. On Aurum he was known to most. On Earth, he was a stranger to all. It did take some getting used to, but eventually, Oliver liked the feeling of blending in. He liked being able to go wherever, whenever without having a group of bodyguards trailing behind. Learning to do mundane tasks such as cooking and cleaning also took some getting used to, but in due time he was accustomed to his life on earth.

He ended up settling in Lyon, France but often liked traveling to nearby cities. One after, while walking through Paris during one of his short visits, he was asked for what at the time he thought was a favor. Within a few hours, he found himself posing in front of cameras for a group of strangers and before he knew it, he had become a brand ambassador and model for something called Dior. There was a lot Oliver didn't know about the culture on Earth, including that the seemingly simple name and the simple job would result in his name being known by many.

However, despite his new job being rather entertaining and his newfound love for planet Earth, Oliver never stopped looking. He was convinced that he hadn't been the only one to survive the trip, convinced that there were others out there like him that were still searching. Which is why when the news about the "golden meteor" found its way to his small apartment in Lyon, he immediately made travel plans in hopes of finding something or someone that could help him get back home.

Tap. Tap. Tap.
"I think we've got what we need."
"I do too, but one should always take a few extra shots just in case. C'mon Ollie."
Tap. Tap. Tap.
"Ollie? Oliver!"
Tap. Tap. Tap.

A hand was firmly placed over Oliver's tapping fingers, bringing the boy out of his accidental trance. He looked up with a hum, confused as to why all eyes were suddenly on him. "What? What's going on?". His manager Ricky let out a quiet sigh, signaling the photographers that their daydreaming model would be over there shortly before taking a seat beside him. "Alright, talk. What's going on?" Oliver, in turn, kept silent, his eyes round and curious as if to question what exactly the man was referring to. Ricky made it clear he wasn't buying the act of innocence. "Don't give me that look. You've been acting weird since yesterday morning!" The young boy blinked a couple of times before getting to his feet in an attempt to get away from the questions. "I'm not acting weird, you are." he protested. Though a good plan, it didn't work the way he hoped. After giving Oliver an overdramatic eye roll, Ricky followed his lead and got to his feet, standing directly in his path. "Really, then explain to me why you haven't even touched your lunch."

"I'm just not hungry." Ollie answered with a slight shrug, to which Ricky immediately responded with a shake of the head. "Highly unlikely." Once again, Oliver attempted to move past the man, but he proved to be just as if not more stubborn than he. The two mimicked each other's stance by folding their arms across their chest as a sign of not backing down as Ricky continued to speak. "You've been spacing out since yesterday morning. Ever since-" he paused, a sudden look of disbelief taking over his otherwise tranquil features. "Please don't tell me that meteor and all those alien conspiracies have you spooked. You don't actually believe in that stuff, do you?" There was a sudden knot in the pit of Oliver's stomach at the mention of the so-called "meteor". Even as he firmly responded "Of course not!" and successfully pushed past Ricky with the excuse of his needing to do his job, the knot remained.

Truth be told, that's all the silver-haired boy had been able to think about since the previous morning. When the news of the "golden meteor" hit France, he'd been working. He didn't have a chance to see it until a few hours later while he was having lunch with his manager. The images that flashed across the restaurant television sent uncontrollable shivers down his spine. There it was clear as day. There was no mistaking the symbols that adorned the golden gloss. And that phrase he'd heard time and time again from the moment he was born. Lux in tenebris , aureum cordibus. He recalled his mother very tenderly teaching him those exact words, and what it meant for them.

"Every citizen of Aurum is important, Ollie. Every one of them has a heart of gold. And we have to be their light when times are dark."

Before he'd realized, he was running out of the restaurant with his manager frantically calling out to him. From the moment Oliver found himself on Earth, on this foreign planet in a city he knew nothing about, he'd been desperately searching for something, anything that could lead him back home. Back to his people and his family. Over the years, he'd all but given up. He still searched from time to time. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he felt there was still hope, but common sense often scolded him for being so naive. However, the moment he saw and heard the news it's as if light had given birth to hope again.

This is how he ended up in Customs and Immigration at the Washing DC airport. Admittedly, it was wrong of him not to tell Ricky he'd be leaving indefinitely until the day of the flight. Eleven hours and a half later and the man was scolding him through the phone line, wondering why the hell he'd decided to ditch so suddenly. "This is insane, Oliver, even for you!". Ollie tried his best to appease the man, promising to return as soon as "matters are taken care of", though he never mentioned he had no clue when that would be. Finally, after what seemed like hours and a hundred and one procedures later, he was handed back his passport and sent off to baggage claim. Oliver's nerves were running ramped the closer he was to the destination. Demi, Bea, Po, Vivi...and Leo...all these people he assumed to be dead could very well be alive and quite possibly somewhere in this very city.

It didn’t even feel like sleep. But Ezra was poking his cheek and waking him up with that dreaded nickname as soon as his eyes finally fluttered shut. He brushes the intruding hand away, moving back upright from the position he found himself in. He didn’t realize he’d leaned so much when he slept, ending pressed up on Ezra’s side for most of the flight. Ezra didn’t make any comment about Apollo falling asleep on his shoulder. The blond was already the cause of the blood rushing to his cheeks on several occasions, and he didn’t want this to be another time.

The airport was flooded with people. Enough people that Apollo almost grabbed onto Ezra’s wrist to keep himself from losing the only person he knew in this airport. They made their way through, Apollo’s body protesting from the hours spent in the airline seat traveling his way to the states for the first time. He’d spent a lot of time walking in Italy, save his train rides to Milan, and wasn’t used the time spent seated.

”Is the house far from…-“ Apollo started, distracted by collecting his bags when he noticed a too familiar head of grey locks. His eyes stayed locked, his hands clutching on the top of his bag, making sure his eyes weren’t deceiving him.

No, that had to be Oliver Argenti, there was no mistaking it. He could recognize the prince even from his profile, from the hours he spent by his side. It made his heart pound crazily, seeing in person that he was alive and within arm’s reach. Apollo couldn’t help himself, he dropped his bag and started briskly walking towards the other man. He had to see him closer, and a part of him yearned to yank Ollie into his arms and never let go. He would never put him at risk again, as long as he could just get to him.

Oliver was used to busy airports. Paris always proved to be one of the worst, second only to New York. But this was a lot, even for him. He’d been walking at a snail’s pace, having way too many people in front and behind him to get anywhere. Despite his usual carefree nature, his nerves were on high alert which made the crowd of people that much more unsettling. After what felt like a lifetime he finally reached the baggage claim area, which was impossibly more congested. He didn’t bother to make any attempts of reaching his bags, but instead opted to wait until the bundle in front of him began to dissolve.

His bright blues, usually hidden behind a mask of brown, studied their surroundings. He hadn’t bothered to change his hair or eye color as a habit it had become, but preferred to keep them his natural Light district hues in hopes he’d find someone he knew. So far it had proven to be useless, and instead had only earned him a few long stares. Until- ”Po…?” he spoke more to himself than anything, as a way of questioning if he was really seeing who he thought he was seeing. And then the dark haired male looked in his direction, only a handful of people between them. There was no mistaking it, that was definitely Apollo.

”Po!” he called out much louder this time, loud enough for the boy to hear him. Oliver’s body immediately moved, his arms making way through the crowd until he’d reached Apollo and all but tackled him to the ground. His heart pounded against his ears as he clung onto his friend. After ten long years on Earth with no sign of him, it almost felt like a dream.

Hearing the nickname slip from his dear friend’s lips, that’s the only thing needed for tears to start streaming down Apollo’s face. They started before he even touched Ollie, but continued harder as his arms snake around Ollie’s neck and he pulls him closer and tighter in their hug. ”Ollie.” He hadn’t seen this boy, felt the warmth - no, the light - that radiated from Oliver Argenti in years. He missed everything about his friend, and here he was in the flesh.

He pulls back only to grab Ollie’s face, checking him for any signs of injury. ”Are you okay, Ollie? I’m so happy you’re here, you’re alive, I was- I was so scared- did anyone hurt you? Have you met anyone else?” Apollo rambles on, looking everywhere except for Ollie’s eyes, searching for any sign that someone had hurt him, or the girl found him first.

Apollo was so terrified that he’d failed. That he wouldn’t find Ollie again. He didn’t know what he would do if somehow Ollie hadn’t made it, or didn’t want to see them again. It would have been his fault, and he was sure everyone would know it too. He hadn’t protected the prince enough. Now, he wouldn’t take any chances, and wouldn’t let Ollie talk him out of protecting him with every fiber of his being. His life, if necessary.

Olive was certain he’d be strong enough to face whatever was coming, whether he came to find people he loved or find no one at all. But the moment he felt Apollo’s embrace there was an overwhelming feeling of home. A reminder of everything he’d lost, of everyone he’d been forced to leave behind. A knot formed in Oliver’s throat and his eyes welled with tears. Though he tried, the sound of Apollo saying his name immediately pulled them out. They were silent and slow, and while Apollo checked him from head to toe and asked him a million and one questions about whether he was okay or not, all Olliecould do was smile and giggle like a child.

”I’m okay, I’m okay!” his words were rushed, afraid that his voice would betray him, but holding back his tears proved to be useless. ”I-it’s really you. I thought...I thought you were-“ dead. The idea alone was enough to have Oliver drowning in tears. No longer silent, now he was sobbing uncontrollably. His arms wrapped around Apollo’s torso again, face buried into his shirt as it dawned on him that this was in fact not a dream. And if Apollo was alive that meant there was a good chance everyone else was too.

”I’m here.” These were Apollo’s only words of comfort but the only ones that felt right. His hands cling to Ollie as he sobs in Apollo’s shirt, holding him there as long as he needed to. Part of him never wanted to let go, to keep Ollie in a little bubble so he’d never have to worry about losing him again. But that was the selfish part of him, one that didn’t care that more of their friends could be alive and they deserved to see Ollie again too. He held onto this moment as long as he could, calming his own tears before even attempting to talk to Ollie again.

Apollo pulls back, if only to see Ollie’s face again and ensure that he was safe. He smiles through his tears, even as he looks for any injuries he may have missed. ”It wasn’t me who found you. I mean, I wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for Ezra. He saw you in a magazine.”

Once his tears slow down, Oliver makes an attempt at brushing them away with his jacket sleeve. He takes a deep breath, hoping he can at least get a few sentences out without another waterfall. ”Ezra?” As if on cue, Oliver extends his line of sight just a few feet behind Apollo to see a familiar head of long, blonde locks coming their way with what looked like his and Apollo’s bags. He offered Ollie a smile, stopping just a few inches behind Apollo. ”Hey little prince” the familiar nickname brought a wide smile to Oliver’s tear stained face. He moved away from Apollo long enough to give Ezra a hug of his own. The two had never been that close on Aurum but they’d been enough of friends that Oliver was relieved to see him with Apollo.

Apollo didn’t realize that Ollie knew Ezra before coming to Earth, but it didn’t surprise him. Being glued to Ollie’s side on Aurum meant a blur of many faces, maybe even Ezra’s for a moment. But he was thankful for it all; without Ezra, he wouldn’t have come for the meteor. He’d tried to blend into this world and become one of them, and in the process forgot who all he would be deserting to do so. Watching Ezra and Ollie interact reminded him that he didn’t belong here, something that they already knew.

”We should get to the house now, shouldn’t we?”

The car ride wasn’t a long one from the airport, mainly Apollo laying a hundred different questions on Ollie to make sure he was alright, even though he’d already assured the healer of this already. He was curious what Ezra would say now that Ollie was around, but the blond had kept his mouth shut for now. And before he knew it, they were pulling up on a mansion filled with their people. A solace of Aurum on Earth.

The car ride from the airport to the meeting location was relatively short, roughly about thirty to thirty-five minutes, most of which Oliver spent answering Apollo’s infinite number of questions. But he did so blissfully, each with a smile. The fleeting moments of silence were accompanied by the silver head of hair leaning on Apollo’s shoulder, the other’s presence feeling almost too surreal for the young prince’s comfort but before they knew it a grand estate appeared in front of them. Ollie double checked the address he’d hurriedly jotted into the notes feature of his phone to confirm that this was in fact where they were meant to be.

The driver came to a slow stop about half a block off the edge of the property, the rest of the street being much too congested for him to drive any further. The prince’s azure orbs scanned the structure from its foundation to the copper made roof. A familial aura wrapped itself around it, growing stronger the closer they drew, but not quite something he could place his finger on. There were a couple of people at the door. At first glance, they appear to be in conversation, but seconds later, they stepped inside to reveal a pair of faces. One, Ollie did not recognize, while the other brought a crashing wave of relief over his entire body.

”ID p-” the raven haired woman’s eyes reamed in astonishment, her mouth mimicking their shape as Oliver’s figure moved closer. Excitement dictated his actions as he rushed forward, arms wrapping tightly around Viviannah’s waist. ”Vivi, oh my god!” just for a moment, shock prevented her from moving, form frozen in place as the reality of what was happening seeped in. Soon enough, her arms returned the embrace, her shock now replaced with utter relief. ”Holy shit-!” she breathed out, almost instantly pulling away from the prince with a hasty bow. ”I mean, your highness, I’m so sorry-” she took half a step back, creating a sliver of distance between them.

Ollie’s arms folded across his chest in protest, a subtle frown replacing his previously cheerful features. ”Vivi, come on, we’ve talked about this…” Viviannah’s cold exterior softened ever so slightly, shoulders slumping into a defeated stance. ”Right...Oliver.” the frown eased from the boy’s face as she outstretched her arms, hands gently cupping his cheeks. ”You have no idea how relieved I am to see you…”. The smile took its place on the prince’s face once again. Perhaps he didn’t, but he did know how wonderful it felt to see her, how it felt to see Apollo and Ezra at the airport, to know that he wasn’t alone, rather than just aimlessly hope.

After her extended hello towards Apollo and Ezra, Viviannah let the three of them inside. Oliver never thought to ask exactly who’s home they were using. Was it Vivi’s new home? Perhaps that’s why she was in charge of checking identities. It was a spacious and well-kept home, reminiscent of the average estates within the light district. The thought alone prompted a bittersweet feeling in his chest. Had anyone else from his district survived? Or was he all on his own? What would others think when they saw him? Did they believe all those things the Thunder district accused his family of doing? They would never- he would never harm anyone even with reason.

The young boy’s heart rate picked up in seconds, his face reflecting every conflicting emotion he felt. He had half a mind to turn around and run out the same door he came in through, but before fear could get the better of him, a familiar sight pulled him back to reality. His eyes locked on the girl, her petite figure too impossible to forget. Beside her stood another beautifully familiar figure, her bright persona practically oozing from her pores. Suddenly, Ollie’s throat felt restricted, the words threatening to break before they could even leave his lips. After several long seconds of staring, and attempting to speak, he could only manage to call out their names. ”Bee...? Oona...?”

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Bea was so invested in her conversation with Oona, that nothing else really mattered at the moment. She didn't even see some of her other close friends were in the house since she was catching up with Oona. Hearing all about her life as a chef in South Korea, while she told the force district girl about how much her life had changed since being on Earth from her career to where she lives, and how much she loved being on the planet even after this long. She could have talked to the girl for hours on end. It was funny. Bea never even thought about just how much she missed Aurium until she was surrounded by its citizens and just the energy the group gave off. It was weird, to say the least, but, more comforting than she'd even care to admit. She had been so resistant that she would go back for the world but, just being surrounded by others just like her, made her feel more at home than she has in a long time. But, even this wasn't enough to change her mind into going back if given the chance. She didn't know the odds of them being able to get home but, she didn't want to. She wanted to stay here. She loved it here. And there wasn't a thing that could change that--...

"Bee...?"

Her mouth immediately dropped slightly, her eyes widen in disbelief. She tried to take another breath but, it was caught in her throat as she stood up slowly. It wasn't possible. She had to have misheard whoever's voice that was. But, even before she turned around her eyes started to tear up, she felt as if someone had a grip on her heart. Making it even harder for her to breath. She turned to see the face of who she saw as her brother. She couldn't even say anything, she tried to say something. Anything. But, all she could do was just stared at the blonde boy for what felt like forever as she tried to regulate her short breaths and regain her peripheral vision but, all she could do was notice him. She just ran up to him and held him in her arms. She was trembling as she tightened her grasp on him as it finally sunk in that Ollie, her 'first' little brother, her family even if it wasn't by name or blood, was alive. For so long, she had thought that every last trace of both sides of her extended family and their whole district was gone and she'd never see them again. She pulled away to look him in the eyes and brush her fingers through his blonde locks and against his emblem as she was finally being able to say something. She let her hand fall to his arm as she other hand was wiping away to tears from her eyes. "I can't believe this." But, before he could say a word, she was holding him again as if they hadn't seen each other in centuries.
