Rage of the Draco Zombie

LlohapSetting: Llohap

Roaming Llohap freely, a single Draco Zombie was making a mess of the forests with its massive stature and noxious breath. Some tribal people who lived in the forest found themselves swallowed and quickly dissolved in the acidic gut of the Draco Zombie. Its roar was damaged, like a horribly scratched CD trying to play a high pitched tune - it just sounded garbled and ear-splitting at the same time.

It readied itself to take on man and beast alike to set up a domain. Normal dragons sought to set up a domain for gold, but within the twisted mind of the Draco Zombie it sought to use this domain as a trap to lure in people to fight it and inevitably be eaten.

Arle was right at home in the tropical setting of the island, having grown up all but inside an amazonian rainforest herself. The humble way of life reminded her of home. Well--Maybe not exactly. There was the whole magic business and that seemed to make a big difference in the quality of life for these folks, but she enjoyed this far more than the city regardless. She had even made a friend!

...Aaaaand he's gone. Arle recoiled in horror as she popped out of a little hut to investigate what all the commotion was about, only to witness a familiar man vanishing down a terrible monster's throat. The rather short mage felt her throat tighten and her stomach churn in response to the terrified man's dying screams. She wasn't entirely sure what had shut him up so quick, but just moments later he had entirely faded away. The very idea of the fate he'd met sent a shiver down her spine. As far as ways to die went, that was pretty ugly. There was no dignity or honor in being digested. She quietly resolved not to meet a similar fate. Even still, she had an awful feeling that tonight would weigh heavily upon her heart. She had to act now if she wanted to mitigate that. Standing idly by and keeping safe simply wasn't an option when villainy of this level was involved.

"Fire!" Arle shouted in incantation, a fireball forming before, which she quickly manipulated using a hand gesture to violently throw it at the draco zombie. The ball of flames would quickly cover the distance between the two, packing a burning punch behind it not unlike being slugged by a bruiser. Shifting her staff into a ready position now that she presumably had the dragon's attention, Arle glared confrontationally at the beast from a distance. "I guess your mama never taught you to chew your food." the mage remarked, probably more for her own comfort than any sort of expectation that the zombie understood her. "Mind Blast!" Arle would go on to blurt out in quick succession, decidedly not waiting for a response. One of her more powerful attacks, mind blast would hopefully give her a strong edge over the dragon zombie by figuratively and perhaps a bit literally mind-melting it with a psionic blast.
Once the screaming died down and everything had seemingly passed, the draco zombie was beginning to turn its back when the singing flames of a fireball hit its back. Being a large target, such attacks would hit with ease. Despite its lumbering causing it to be clumsy and able to be hit often, it had a scary vitality as it took the flames with little care in the world. Turning its rotting neck towards the arcanist who lobbed the fireball in its direction, another loud screech was emitted from the draco zombie. Before it could do anything more however, a glut of psychic force plunged straight into what was left of its enfeebled mind, hurting it even more. There was nothing left in there but primal instinct and a need to feed...and now, that need to feed was growing like a burning rage.

Like a charging wrecking ball, it stomped forwards unaware of any more harm it may possibly incur by doing this and placed itself just where it needed to be: getting itself within snapping range with its elongated neck. And that's exactly what it did, sending out a maw of razor sharp teeth. Laced within the jaws was a noxious poison - it wasn't hard for a body to resist, however if the body couldn't resist not only would it end up languid but it'd end up rotting from the outside in, much like a corpse. Still, the power behind a Draco Zombie's bite was immense.

Arle would emit a little shriek as the dragon bore over her. The awful pinching sensation of teeth digging into her arms was not unfamiliar to her, but this wasn't the sort of thing you just got used to. Not anymore than she already was, anyway. Arle braced herself and awkwardly held her staff before her, which served the purpose of trying to keep the draco zombie away from the rest of her body. She winced as its teeth cut into her, drawing blood all over her arms. She wouldn't let her wounds overwhelm her, though. Not this easily. She could worry about those once she wasn't at risk of being swallowed whole. Pulling back, Arle decided against attempting to outrun the beast. It wasn't so much that she thought she couldn't, but that she felt a lot more confident in her magical abilities than she did on her legs, healthy as they were. "Fire... storm!" Arle would incant between bated breathes, throwing her bloodied arms out to direct the ensuing rain of fire towards the draco zombie in an effort to push the creature back--assuming you could even strike pain or fear into its heart. She would then sustain this spell, testing the monster's resilience. If nothing else she hoped the massive attack would make it hard for it to get a hold of her.

Growling and chomping away, it pulled back once the blood had coated its teeth to revel in the taste of the flesh. However, once it begun its reveling it took two hits of destructive fire. The first hit was minor and dealt little damage at first, however the second attack caused it to howl out in pain. Though its sensory organs weren't perfect, it definitely felt that one. It lashed out with two bites, a flurry of sharp teeth. Due to its rage, it was having extraordinary difficulty maintaining its composure and thus hitting anything, only focusing on lashing out rather than anything else. RAAAAGH!

The sound of a young woman screaming in pain could be heard throughout what remained of the village as the draco zombie's teeth once again found their way into Arle's flesh. It was the good thing the mage had learned a really high pain tolerance because boy did that hurt! It looked like it hurt too, with blood leaking freely from the wounds and soaking some of her normally blue clothes crimson. If she suffered more attacks like that, she wouldn't be standing for much longer. Which meant she needed to put an end to this monster now--before she met an awful fate. "Heaven's Ray!" Arle shouted, raising her bloodied arm into the air. She then dropped it like a gavel of justice down towards the earth and, in tandem with the dropping of her arm, a blast of holy energy would drop from the heavens to smite the draco zombie with incredible burning force!

...And when the burst of holy light faded, Arle was left the only combatant standing. She took a deep breath to recover her composure before rushing forward towards the downed draco zombie. The injured and somewhat grossed out mage then began to try and search for survivors, working into where the zombie's flesh had already been cut open or simply fallen off as it were in search for its stomach. "H-Hello..? Does anyone need any help?" Arle somewhat breathlessly called out, pressing into the zombie experimentally in search of a feeling of movement that ought not to be there. One could hear the subtle disgust in her tone. She'd seen plenty of gore in her time, but touching it was another beast entirely--no pun intended. Yet--She was pretty confident there had been people in there at one point and she wasn't going to risk leaving someone behind. The poor thing's heart was too big to just walk away like that.
The draco zombie was already a mess, its skin and bone were falling out. But the holy radiance dealt its final blow upon the fiend. Searing holy light tore through the remaining sinew and flesh that bound the monstrosity together until it was reduced to a crumpled corpse. The contents of its stomach were easy to reach due to its new 'in pieces' state. Being unaffected by the holy blast, those within were in enough of a shape to be recognizable and able to be buried properly now.

The ruin caused by the beast had come to a grinding halt...
