Subconscious Radiance

Gambit's BarSetting: Gambit's Bar

The Valojelea closest to CPO. S-097 Jeff floated back cautiously. It became a bit brighter than before, alarmed. The bartender put a glass of water on the counter. The glowing jellyfish became distracted and floated towards hydration.
Subconscious looked up from her glass. There was a new face in the bar. This one was glowing like fireflies. Beautiful, honestly. She watched them drift down, eyes flitting between them and the man who appeared afraid of them. Her gaze slipped to her shadow, which flickered in silent affirmation. Perhaps it was an illusion of some sort, but it seemed that it was sitting next to her, independent of the surrounding lighting. She smiled slightly, resting her chin on her hand. She was seated in a dim corner, as far back as she could manage, but she could see the bar quite well. Who knows? Maybe something fun would happen.
Subconscious rose, shadow sinking into her. She felt the voices buzz quietly in her head as they merged. It was almost pleasant, really. She had been missed. The girl agreed to see just what those little creatures were, and when she sat beside one of them and gently pushed it's glass of water closer, she could feel her mind smile at her.
The Valojelea floated gently, four rising above the crowd to gently pulse to the music.

The one on the bar was very pleased to have the water moved closer by Subconscious. An intricate pattern of light strung across it's flesh!
Subconscious peered over her shoulder as the girl marveled at the orb. She didn't know what it was, but it was lovely with its lights and movements. It was a new friend, perhaps? The both liked water, so it was start. Her shadow swiveled her head as the newcomer arrived, winking out and in, now on the opposite stool from herself.
The Valojelea was satisfied to be seated next to Subconcious, and was curious about the flickering shadow. It bobbled closer to it.
Subconscious tilted her head, silently watching the creature float towards her. The light it gave off sharpened her as it approached. Her form went from a bizarre flat one to something approaching a tangible entity. It seemed as if she was peeling herself off of the counter to get a better view at the little marvel. She smiled on the other stool, watching herself make a new friend. She made the noise, because she had the mouth at the moment. It was just as small giggle, but she couldn't suppress it. This was too much! A new friend! Imagine!
The Valojelea blinked some more and whirled in a circle. It was excited to make a new friend, too! The other four in the ceiling continued about as they were. This one, however, had imprinted on the stranger.
Subconscious held her breath as she saw herself reach out to touch the little sprite. It was so very rare, getting to feel things, especially when she was much less...substantial than most. An exciting prospect! It might even work, given how solid she was. She could feel the seat move under her weight, as low as it was.
The Valojelea extended a small tentacle outwards, towards Subconscious. A tickle of static sparkled at the end, but wasn't meant for harm.
Subconscious touched her umbral fingertips to the sparking tendril, head tilting further. A slight flutter of worry player across her mind across from her. If it could feel, it would feel nothingness, but...more so. Not necessarily unpleasant, she supposed, but a clear, capital, Absence. She hoped her friend would understand. She spoke, again owning the mouth. Her voice was girlish and quiet, yet tinged with a sense of nervousness. "I'm quite happy to see you like me. What are you called, little one? I'm Jane."
The Valojelea turned a pale and constant yellow upon contact with Subconscious. The nothingness wasn't bad; just different. This frequency wasn't known to be associated with 'life' before. Now it was.

J a N e! blinked the creature. It then blinked a new sequence, complicated, fractals shooting across it's top and down it's tentacles. This new sequence, however interpreted, was it's name.
Subconscious laughed gently as she flowed into herself, becoming one figure shifting excitedly in her seat. She reached out as lightly as she could, cupping the creature in her hands. What a lovely name! She could hear it flit across her mind like a song, and she knew she could never give it a proper voice. She would call it what it was, for as long as it saw fit. It might change, but that was fine. Its name played like an orchestra in her mind, tones shifting sweetly. She whispered, a tear rolling down her cheek. "Radiance..."
The Valojelea named Radiance settled in close to it's companion, wondering what it's new life would bring of it!
Subconscious smiled, her shadow flickering to fill the seat next to her, glass and all. The mirth wasted to last, unfortunately, as she felt some unpleasantness begin behind her. She leaned in unison to look at the man in the suit. Her face fell. This was a good place, it wasn't for fighting, unless it was in good fun. A very nice bear man had told her that. Awfully hard to remove all of that blood from her clothes, but he had insisted she be in the front row. Jane instinctively pulled Radiance closer to her, eyes locked on the suited man.
The Valojelea named Radiance hummed and pulsed brighter as the tension escalated, doing it's best to comfort Subconscious
Subconscious shook her head, letting out a small noise of concern. She felt her hand on her shoulder and leaned into herself. Radiance was clutched tightly to her chest, the hum slowing her panicked breathing. She didn't want to, she really didn't, but she didn't handle things like this very well. She hugged herself tightly, whispering under her breath. "Please no, please no, please no..."
The four Valojelea towards the ceiling began to descend as the energy of the beings down below increased. They floated about in an array, not seeming to stick to a pattern, though not deviating beyond a radius.

Radiance was more than at home with Subconscious.
Subconscious flickered between her shadow and herself, sniffling as she squished Radiance into herself. This wasn't good, no no no... She needed calm, she didn't like the fighting. She would stop it, she would stop all of it. She just wanted silence. Sweet silence, singing in the void with all the other nothings and she could taste it on her lips and then it was all of her and none of her an-... There was a little gasp, a thump, and she quietly struggled back up onto her seat. Jane brushed a little bit off dust off of her new friend with a little huff, now smiling. It wasn't her smile, though, not the one it was before. There was something wrong with it.
Subconscious forced her not-smile off of her face, scooting over to the drinking pair. She hated to interrupt, it wasn't like her but she wanted someone nice to talk to. She felt herself separate and look at whichever patron she wasn't. One face was white-pale and young, the other dark and faceless as the void. Both seemed to hold themselves with a sense of child-like worry, as they passed the little orb between them to squeeze gently.
