Abilities & Equipment

Superior Physicality - Years of intensive training have granted Jaxon supreme physical prowess, allowing him to attain peak physical condition. He has higher strength, agility, and stamina than that of even the most physically fit athletes, and even some of the most elite soldiers.

Advanced CQB and Hand-to-Hand Training - Jaxon has mastered advanced Close-Quarter Battle and hand-to-hand combat techniques. His fighting style is a mixture of several different styles of martial arts combined with his knowledge of CQB tactics.

Indomitable Will - Through extensive psychological training, Jaxon has become resistant to most forms of mind control.

Expert Marksman and Firearms Handling - Jaxon has an extensive knowledge on how to wield firearms, and is an extremely deadly shot with nearly any firearm that falls into his possession.

Explosives Expert - Jaxon can operate many forms of explosives, ranging from standard bombs to improvised explosive devices.

Tactical Armor - An armor combination consisting of a lightweight, bullet and stab-resistant nanotube fiber undergarment. On top of his tactical clothing, consisting of a Kevlar vest and shirt combo, cargo pants and combat boots, Jaxon wears separated plates of Kevlar and titanium alloy. His helmet is made of a bullet-resistant breathable mesh with alloy plating, with a ballistic glass faceplate covering the front. Within the helmet is a highly-advanced HUD which displays Jaxon's own vital signs, as well as being able to scan the environment to collect data or project information already collected within Jaxon's own personal database. Altogether, Jaxon's armor is a lightweight (to him, at least) ensemble that is highly protective. Additionally, the right-side gauntlet has a datapad built into it to operate Jaxon's various weapons systems and perform other functions, such as hacking.

Nanotech Implants - Extremely small machines implanted into Jaxon's system grant him a remarkable increase in physical ability. His strength and speed have been increased by a large margin thanks to these machines, which have fortified his muscle mass and serve to accelerate the movement speed of his particles. He is able to lift objects and entities several times his own body weight, as well as move at speeds nearly impossible for the naked eye to perceive. Jaxon's armor serves to compensate for negative effects such motion would enact on an ill-equipped individual, the fibers in his armor able to withstand the friction generated by high speeds without catching fire. These nanomachines also grant him a heightened mental state, allowing him to think much faster than a normal person; an extremely useful ability in critical situations.

Lethal Weaponry

Vibroblade - A double-edged sword outfitted with a vibration-inducing module and a monomolecular blade. The vibrations achieved by this sword are so immense that the blade itself has the ability to cut through the particles that make up an object or person, and is able to cleave through even the hardest of materials like butter.

Maria & Matthew - A pair of fully-customized, semi-automatic .45 pistols. These are Jaxon's go-to firearms when engaged in a conflict. They have been outfitted for comfort, accuracy, rapid-fire capabilities (by way of specialized trigger mechanisms) and range. They, alongside Jaxon's other weapons, have been specially designed to harbor a variety of specialized ammunition.

Cambria Weapons Assault Carbine - A rapid-fire assault carbine, customized for comfort and ease-of-access. It has been outfitted with a computer system that works in tandem with a series of smart bullets which can, when programmed, track a target or series of targets, utilizing image-locking software to target specific individuals.

Bizentine TMP - A pair of fully-automatic tactical machine pistols. They've been modified to reduce spread and allow for greater accuracy, as well as being outfitted with recoil dampeners to increase stability while firing.

Vekross Tactical Shotgun - A compact, powerful shotgun outfitted for use of specialized ammunition. It is equipped with recoil dampeners to reduce kick, Jaxon being able to wield the weapon with one hand. It is also customized for incredible stopping power.

Non-Lethal Weaponry

Nyx Tranquilizer Pistol - A gas-propelled pistol that fires tranquilizer rounds carrying a very potent anesthetic fluid, capable of putting down some of the largest beasts known in existence. Usually takes a ten second window to induce desired effect.

Zephyr Pulse Weapon - A compact weapon which emits an invisible laser pulse that creates a pressure wave with enough force to knock large opponents off of their feet. Additionally, it creates a painful electromagnetic radiation made to incapacitate targets by affecting the nerve cells throughout the body, effectively rendering the target immobile due to pain. The amount of force applied with each burst is controlled remotely, with varying measurements utilized for different types of targets.

Hel Pepperball Gun - A gas-propelled pistol that fires pepper-balls; compact spheres containing a liquid gas irritant that causes a considerable burning sensation in the eyes, nostrils and pores. Used for disorientation.

ZEUS Electroshock Weapon - A collapsible, electricity-emitting stun weapon that is loaded with cartridges that eject barbs connected to wires which stick into the target and transfers a one million volt shock through their muscular system, effectively shutting down muscular control. Can be used without cartridges by pressing the weapon against the target and squeezing the trigger.

Raiden Stun Baton - A telescopic baton capable of emitting an electroshock current of at least one million volts. Voltage can be increased. Often used in close-quarters to incapacitate unruly individuals.

Miscellaneous

Grenades - An assortment of grenades for specific purposes, each with adjustable fuse delays.

  • Fragmentation - Standard frag grenades with a kill radius of 5 meters. Upon explosion, these grenades hurl pieces of shrapnel which can tear through flesh and become embedded into organic tissue and other compounds.
  • White Phosphorus - Grenades that, when they explode, hurl pieces of white-hot metal into their victims. These pieces of metal graft themselves to those caught in the blast radius, causing severe trauma. Capable of lethal damage at five meters.
  • Flash-Bang - Just as the name suggests, these grenades emit a loud concussive bang alongside a blinding flash that both serve to disorient opponents. Best utilized against groups of enemies, or those especially susceptible to light.
  • Smoke - Grenades that produce a thick cloud of smoke. Used for concealment or, with colored smoke varieties, to mark targets.
  • Pulse - Grenades that emit an electric pulse, effectively stunning non-insulated opponents caught within the thirty meter blast radius, killing those within ten meters. Additionally, these grenades can disrupt non-hardened electronics.
  • Thermite - Serving more as charges than grenades, Jaxon plants these devices onto opponents or structures to burn holes into them. Mostly used against armored opponents.

Ammunition - A variety of ammunition types, ranging from standard, hollow-point and armor piercing, as well as specialized ammunition employing UV, nano-thermite, and smart shells. Jaxon also carries rubberized bullets, pepper-balls and tranquilizer rounds for non-lethal take-downs.

Amidst the clamor and ruckus that was commonplace within the bar, a tall, muscular man in sleek, dark armor strode through the front door; Jaxon Dregg. Taking a look at the commotion, Jaxon merely sighed. Walking over to the bar, he looked down to see a young woman seemingly hiding herself from the chaos that was erupting around her.

Crouching down, he extended a gentle hand to the girl. "Excuse me, miss," he began, "My name is Jaxon Dregg. Do you know where I can meet the owner here? I'm looking for employment." Behind the black helmet he wore over his face was a half-smile, friendly and patient. "I've come to understand that this place could do with some more bodies on the security force."

Renée was amazed, well, not really, at the fact that other patrons were continuing to drink and order food despite what all was going on. It seemed on par with how people saw Gambit’s and one of the reasons she didn’t really worry too much when a fight happened. But, this was slightly more than just a fight, though obviously not to everyone else. As long as no gun shots were fired and her sister didn’t start throwing explosive cards, things could go on as normal. Well, normal was a relative term, but who cared anymore? Glancing back to the dagger, she resisted the urge to poke at it, especially when footsteps neared their location.

Tilting her head towards him, Renée took note of his armor and wondered what he could possibly want. Luckily, he spoke up and she took his hand, wondering if he wanted to help her up. When he asked about the owner of Gambit’s, she glanced over at Gabrielle who was still engaged in one of the thugs and then looked back at the stranger who conveniently introduced himself as Jaxon Dregg. She knew better than to interrupt her sis and decided that whatever he wanted, she would take care of herself. Generally, Gabby was quite alright with that. However, when he mentioned security, she breathed out a sigh of relief and just nodded,

“Right, well, my name is Renée LeBeau and the brunette female over there with the short sword fighting that thug is Gabrielle. We’re both the owners persay of Gambit’s since our father, Remy, left it to Gabrielle. I usually just help out mostly whenever I can. Anyways, since you’re wanting to be on security, let me go shout for Jegun since he tends to deal with that part of the bar. Just uhh… stand right here and I’ll be right back.” Slinking to her feet, she made her way to the basement, opening up the door.

“HEY JEGUN! Got a dude here that wants to be a security guard bouncer person!”

"A place known as Gambit's Bar; This was the last known location of the woman I want you to find. If she's brought to me alive I'll make it worth your while." The Voice on the other end was none other than Shimizu Takayama, and the hulking figure that stepped into Gambit's had the phone with said direct line pressed to his ear.

The man's face was completely hidden by what could be described as a skull, a hardened mask with two eye sockets, the man's eyes visible within them.

"I'll check the bar, and then deepen my search." The figure said in a deep, gravely voice before he disconnected the line and pocketed the phone.

The man's eyes wandered for a moment. The bar itself was sparsely populated, with a few patrons and it's staff. The figure paid little regard to them though.

Slung across his back and holstered at his hip were completely alien weapons, angular and metallic they didn't resemble any known weapons from any of the major nations in the Galaxy.

Two audible and hulking steps forward, the door closed behind the man as his eyes looked forward, and he approached the bar itself. It was then he placed several denominations of currency on the bar, while his eyes turned to the fight currently going on.

He made a low growl, and then he turned back to the currency, The square, colored bills and coins clattered on the wood finish as he waited for someone to tend to him.

Attempting to ignore the looks she was receiving from Snale, Gabrielle found that a rather difficult task. She really wanted to punch him in the face, but h had already been nailed there so it wouldn't be nice. Instead, she just smiled towards him and nodded her head. She did have to give it to him, had he not been there, the damage would have been a lot worse. She long since gave up the idea to pop her jaw into place, the pain radiating from it was enough to make her aware that it would be a terrible idea. At least while she was still in front of everyone. She’d wait until going back into her room and have her sister punch her or something, she hadn’t quite determined the next course of action. Other than getting someone to pay for the damages before Jegun noticed. Unfortunately, life wasn’t always how she felt it should be and the moment Jegun walked in the front door, Gabby swore under her breath. Remaining on the stool even as he neared her location, she attempted to smile, but it failed massively,

“Umm… well, you see. These thugs came in and started shit and stuff happened.” Keeping it short and sweet, she glanced over at the dude waiting to talk to Jegun and blinked, “Oh, and this guy over there is wanting to talk to you about being security.” That’s it, change the subject.

His scowl deepening into a frown, Jegun jabbed a finger at Gabby. "We'll finish this conversation later."

Glancing over at the other guy, the man sighed heavily, making his way over to the man. Gruffly, he sized him up.

"So you're here for security, then? Credentials?"

Jaxon looked over Jegun with something akin to reverence. The guy didn't look like much, but he had a reputation to go along with his name, so Jaxon wouldn't hesitate to call the man boss if he was allowed to. Being that Jegun got right to business and asked for his credentials meant there was absolutely no time to fuck around.

Jaxon presented a physical copy of his work history, which included private military corporations and security organizations over the past fifteen years. Jaxon was a soldier before he turned to a life of mercenary work, landing positions among some of the most effective PMC groups out there.

His résumé included his expertise with combat scenarios, hostile takeovers, and hostage situations; all which painted a good picture of his efforts. Jaxon was by no means perfect, as he had a good number of misses to go along with his record, but altogether he was dedicated to his job and focused on getting it done right.

"I hope this is enough to satisfy your requirements," he stated plainly as he was handing his files over.

Skimming the documents with a critical eye, perusing an overall well record of history in scenarios. Glancing sidelong at the man, he once again took stock, his evaluation cycling through the weighing of options.

"On paper, you seem rather good. There are some conditions, however, and you'll need to agree to all of them."

"Firstly, this is Gambit's. Even more notorious than Wing City, we get, plainly put, crazy shit. Expect the unexpected, and come prepared for anything. Second. You do not aim to kill on first conflict. The goal is living, paying customers, and troublemakers get booted out the door. The desire is kicked out breathing, so they can pay any fines headed their way."

"Third, and this has gotten someone recently fired. You take the orders of Gabrielle Lebeau first, me second, her sister, Renee, third and equal with my own. You're starting off a rookie, so bottom of the totem pole. Think you can live with those, and not forget them when it counts?"

“Yeah, alright, Jegun.” Gabrielle really hated people jabbing their fingers at her, but she knew better than to start a fight with the head of security. Plus, she really liked him and didn’t want to be schooled by him.

Shaking her head, she watched him walking over to the potential new guy. Well, for now she was off the hook, so that was good enough for her. Groaning, she placed her forehead down on the counter of the bar and tried to ignore her pain and the verbal lashing she was going to get later from Jegun when he realizes she was in the middle of the fight and that she never called for security. Tilting her head at the mention of her name, she just nodded at Jegun's words before squeezing the bridge of her nose to stave off the migraine that was beginning to surface.

Jaxon couldn't help but give brief but not at all cocky smile underneath his helmet. He'd been the rookie in countless situations, despite his years of training. It was something you had to go through, no matter what your file said about you and your skills. You were always expected to start from square one, and anyone else who thought differently was too arrogant to come to terms with such a truth.

Still, Jaxon felt it was only polite to requite his potential boss with straight answers. "With all do respect, sir..." he began. "Sir" was a rather tentative title he called people in positions such as Jegun was in; hardened combat veterans who either detested the title, or accepted it on grounds of officialness. In this case, Jaxon was merely trying to be as upstanding and official as possible.

"...I've done my research on this bar. Hell, I grew up in Wing City, and I know its reputation. That said, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to keep the bar afloat. I can roll with the punches, and I pride myself in being prepared for the worst. As far as your last two points are concerned, and without sounding too crass, I do whatever the person signing my paycheck tells me to. I'm no stranger to non-lethal confrontation, and if that's my employer's preferred method of operation, who am I to say no? I take my orders and I follow 'em. You'll get no trouble out of me."

He looked around the bar for a brief few moments. It was an impressive establishment. He'd been inside a few times, many years ago. It was a favorite of his in years now long gone. The memories, however, came back to him in a delightful flood of nostalgia. He knew why he wanted to take on this job, and hoped his words and files were enough to land him a position.

"If it's any consolation," he began, "My chief motivation is to ensure that Gambit's retains a relative level of safety on my watch." He stopped speaking for a moment, taking some more time to look around. If he were a more sensitive man, he would have shed a tear for seeing this place again. It was one of his favorite places in Wing City, after all.

"I'm truly here to help," he concluded.

Jegun studied him for a long moment, as his mind chewed over what Jaxon said. He had one more final test in mind, letting out a sigh, his posture visibly relaxing.

The punch, when it came, seemed to virtually come out of nowhere, Jegun's fist lashing out with blurring speed at Jaxon's head. Or more precisely, nearly three inches to it's left, a clean miss, but a rapid, sudden shot meant to test the man's reflexes and response to an immediate threat. Ever erring on the side of caution though, the Judicar pulled most of the strength behind the false blow, in case Jaxon moved the wrong way.

The punch wasn't too unexpected, but still enough to work Jaxon up. Still, there wasn't much to be done except to show Jegun what he could do. The nanomachines in Jaxon's body set to work in a split second, causing the man to move faster than the normal human brain could comprehend. Evading the blow with a quick lean to the right, as well as using his left forearm to deflect the blow further away from his person, Jaxon counteracted the strike with a super-fast reaction time.

"Nanomachines. They work wonders," he stated plainly.

"Thought there was something more than meets the eye. Consider yourself hired." Jegun gave a wry grin. "First order of business, make sure that-"

His finger jabbed at Gabrielle without turning his head. "Never happens again. Rest assured, asses are getting chewed this time around."

Craning his head around, he managed to scowl and smile at the same time at the girl, managing a sarcastic hint to the expression that was all the more boggling. "Keep an eye on things."

Setting the man's dossier back on the counter, Jegun made for Gabrielle again. Leaning against the counter next to the girl, he sighed heavily. "First off, someone's butt is on my frying pan. I ain't the only one watching cameras. Secondly, I wear a beeper for a reason, Gabby."

Gabrielle ignored the rest of the interview, trusting that Jegun would hire who he deemed best and thus far none of the Judicarius had failed what they were supposed to be doing. In fact, the only security person that had failed was one she hired and that was probably why she decided to leave it to him. Squeezing her nose again, she grimaced, her head really beginning to pound. Hopefully once the guy was hired, Jegun would just forget that he had been in the middle of sternly speaking to her. Snorting at an overheard comment coming from Jegun, she managed to keep from glancing over at both males and could only shrug. Yeah, she figured her ass was about to be chewed. Just what she wanted after being in a stupid fight. Finally sitting up just as Jegun neared her location, Gabby glanced towards him, managing to keep from frowning because that would hurt like hell,

“I had it under control…ish, Jegun. I was going to call for security and beep you, but then I was attacked by this big dude. It was either fight back or get hurt worse.” Rubbing both her jaw that might’ve gotten broken as well as her injured knee, she sighed.

“I’m sorry Mr. Sassypants, but nothing terrible happened this time. Unless they come back, that is.” She couldn’t help the sarcasm that slipped out. She mentally blamed her father.

Jaxon smiled underneath his helmet. "Thank you," he said, "And I'll see to it that this place gets looked after. You have my word." He stood back as Jegun spoke with the bar's owner, Gabrielle. Truly, she wasn't supposed to be the one handling the fighting when it broke out, but he supposed things happened that sometimes no one has control over. Still, he would make it his mission to ensure Gabrielle wouldn't have to be put in that kind of situation, regardless of the fact that his paycheck depended on it.

Their exchange was sort of amusing; Gabrielle's side, at least. Jaxon wasn't about to let himself be heard chuckling, though. He was hired not even two minutes ago, and he'd be damned if got a strike on his scorecard for something like that. Suppressing the laughter, he looked about the barroom.

The place was in a bit of disorder after the disturbance that occurred, and Jaxon could only shake his head. The scenery made him eager to get started right away, to try and preserve a calm, cheer atmosphere. Sort of like a bar should be. Arms crossed and silent, Jaxon looked over the room and gave a sigh. He knew the job wasn't going to be easy.

Maybe that's why it appealed to him.

Jaxon stood back as his new bosses continued to exchange words. He didn't exactly have any words to contribute to this situation, so he merely hung around in the background of their dialogue. Over at a table further back in the bar, he took notice of a rather peculiar group of people. He'd need to scope out the patrons of the place, recognize faces and get names whenever he could. It'd help him do his job a lot easier.

Returning his gaze to Jegun and Gabrielle, he finally stepped forward. "I don't mean to interrupt, boss," he said, referring to whoever would answer him first, "But I figured I'd need to ask when I officially start working." He could start now, if it was all the same to them. He didn't have any preparations to make, as he always carried some equipment with him. In this case he had come with his tranquilizer pistol, his pulse weapon, and his stun baton.

He'd see about storing his other equipment here later --if at all possible-- for ease of access.

Renée remained silent as she watched the interaction between Jegun and the potential new hire and then Jegun and her sister. She was lucky he didn’t turn to chastise her too, considering she was also present. Gabby never mentioned her, so she took that as a sign to keep her trap shut. Wrinkling her nose up, she busied herself with ordering some food from Liam from the back and came back just in time to hear Liam asking if Snale was some kind of a con man. Snorting, she leaned against the bar counter, remaining behind it for the time being. She was close enough to her sister and Jegun to hear their words, but not enough to make it obvious.

“Liam, leave de poor man alone and come over here and sit down. Your food is being cooked.” Shaking her head, Renée pointed to a stool at the end right across from her.

She really didn’t care if Snale was a con man or why the thugs had tried to kill them just to get to Kol. Whatever he did to them wasn’t her business and as long as they didn’t come back, then the issue was over with. If they did come back, she was going to immediately call for security and not trust that her sister would do what she was supposed to. Sometimes she was so damn stubborn. At that moment, in the middle of her trip down memory lane, the waitress brought out Liam’s food and sat it down in front of him. Since she didn’t what he wanted, Renée had ordered a little bit of everything. What he didn’t eat, she would finish.

"Heh. Go get yourself looked at. I think we can hold the fort down for a while." Glancing over to Jaxon, his lips curled in a half smile.

"Now, of course."

Scanning the room himself, he noted placements and the like, habit being something he had never bothered to kick. Taking a moment, he took out his phone long enough to check for any messages. He chose to take their absence as a good sign, at least for now.

Jaxon gave a slight nod, giving a sort of half-salute as he walked away, looking around to find somewhere to stand; somewhere he'd be seen but still out of people's way. Finding a nice, empty spot along the wall at the easternmost wall, Jaxon propped himself against it, crossing his arms as he leaned back. Scanning the barroom floor, he kept memorizing faces; general characteristics, specific features, and hairstyles as well.

He'd get names for these people later, using the software in his HUD to capture images of their faces so he could store it into his personal database. He figured a bar like Gambit's might keep somewhat of a record on their regulars, and maybe even first-timers, so he'd collect anything he could on his own until, if, he could get his hands on the bar's own information on its customers.

He supposed he could always ask one of his bosses for the information as well, but what fun would that be? Besides, it was his first day; he'd rather do his job for a while before asking for everything the bar knew about its patrons. That might come off as somewhat strange.

Gabrielle shifted her attention towards her sister and Liam and made a mental note to talk to them about what happened at a later date. No need to bring unwanted attention to the kid, especially with Jegun around. Hopefully he never looked at the footage. Returning her gaze back over towards Jegun, she merely nodded, though she remained sitting exactly where she was at. The thought of going to a hospital was not exactly pleasant, so she reached a hand out to smack Jegun after he told Jaxon to start working immediately,

“Snap it back into place, Jegun. I don’t like hospitals, especially the ones in this city. I’m sure it’ll be fine. My knee is probably fine too.” Gabrielle blinked, not quite believing that she just said what she had. Hopefully he did as asked and did it quick. What could go wrong?

"Helluva business card," Kol smiled at the long list of Snale's expertise. He twirled it nimbly between his fingers and pocketed it in one swift motion, "I'll give you a call if I ever need a hand. Gods know there must be some use for an artificer or a male stripper in my life..." He laughed boyishly as he signaled for a tender or waitress/waiter to come over to their table so he could order the two of them some drinks.

"As for me?" Kol perked a brow, "they call me 'Kol'. Like the rock. And yes, it's true what they said about me, though I daresay it's not quite as impressive as it sounds. Honestly, disabling the brakes on two of the bikes was easy. Swiping the keys off the belt loop of that lead thug you saw back there... that was tricky. Took quite a lot of drinking. Luckily, I'm something of an expert on the subject." He reclined lazily in his seat. "Once I had the keys all I needed to do was link the free-standing bikes to the running one on either side with a couple industrial magnets - suckers stick like glue and fall off without a hitch when you run a current through them - and then drive carefully off without hitting anything." He shrugged. "Pretty standard. The parts should sell well on the market once I scrap them."

Eying Gabby's face a moment, Jegun slid his fingers lightly over her jaw, probing only when he noted where the bones should go, versus where they were. From the feel, it was a clean dislocation, not a break, and had suspected as much. Otherwise, most people wouldn't be speaking.

"Not going to lie, this is going to hurt, likely as much as the punch itself." As he spoke, Jegun stepped closer, positioning his hands and glancing at Gabby. "Relocations always do, but it should start feeling better within a few moments. I'm going to coun-"

With a sudden twist, Jegun's hand scooped the back of the girl's head and shoved back and up on her jaw, a sickening click announcing the sudden set of her jaw back in place. A final blast of his latent energies thrust chilling cold into the side of her jaw, the equivalent of an sudden, shocking ice pack to minimize the overall ache. His faint smirk was meant to assauge. Better to do it when they didn't expect it, letting the body lose its tension, not mentally preparing for the pain.

"Better?"

Jaxon remained perched against the wall, looking about the bar with scrutiny. Scoping around for potential trouble was always a good strategy for stopping it before it arose. Although he was new on the security staff, he wasn't nervous to be here. On the contrary, he was rather excited to have this job; it meant he could do good work for the owners and help clean up some of the riffraff around this place.

Taking scope some more, his eyes rested on a peculiar trio sitting a few feet away from where he was stationed. They were odd, rather noisy, but they weren't causing any trouble, so they were okay for now. He took a breath, pushing himself off the wall as he paced back and forth in a small area, keeping his eyes on the bar crowd as he did. He cracked his neck, then his knuckles, before pasting himself back against the wall, crossing his arms as he remained staring out at the barroom floor.

Jaxon turned his attention to where Renée was conversing with an odd patron. He decided to hang back at his post, as the situation seemed to be more or less under control. This particular individual was, however, beginning to get somewhat disturbing. Jaxon hoped they'd just knock off the obnoxiousness and go about the evening without causing a scene.

He kept his eyes trained on the bar, just in case he was needed any time soon.

The figure stood rooted to the spot, a look of sadness crossing her strange mask. "I...I come, seeking solace..." She said at last, lowering her head in what appeared to be an act of shame. "To offer what services I can...very well, I will leave you as you were." Her voice, now lowered to a near whisper seemed to be laced with depression. The ice beneath her feet became colorless as the young merchant silently proceeded out of the building, hurt. Why couldn't people be...nicer? What remained of this strange patron was an odd web of black liquid covering what ground she had placed her feet upon. When the doors at last swung shut behind her, several glass bottles shattered spilling their contents everywhere.
