Killian Doyle's Story

Killian Doyle entered the bar with a small child silent in his arms. Since obtaining the little boy he'd bought him some clothes, some milk and other baby things in order to try and calm the baby. When he'd gotten him, he hadn't stopped crying or screaming for a few hours. It had taken everything in Killian to get him to stop and by the end he was exhausted. At least the inebriated male didn't have the kid anymore. Killian just hoped he was the father. He hadn't heard anything yet about a baby, and he knew that selling and buying was illegal, but still. The male was clearly pissed with an infant. He'd bought him to save him from his father.

Or that's what Killian kept telling himself.

"Can I have a glass of water?" He asked the barman as he sat himself down rocking the baby.

"Didn't know you had a kid, K." He replied.

"I don't...I saved the kid a few nights ago from his drunken father." Killian told the man.

Killian turned as someone shouted something about the baby. "Err, thanks, I guess. You can have a look at him if you want. He's just sleeping at the moment." Killian smiled, looking down at the boy. Some treasured silence right now.

"Do you have any kids?" He asked, wondering what a grown man's attraction to a baby was. He then saw the female in tow. Maybe they were trying to kids or something, he thought.

Killian nodded, thinking nothing of it. If they were investigating a missing child it was probably moments like these that he enjoyed, where the kids were saved or when someone had a kid. "Yeah, I met his father a few nights ago. He didn't want the kid. He was completely drunk and so I took the kid from him. He was all too glad to have the brat gone and I made sure that it was his child and everything, so that it wasn't illegal or anything." He frowned.

"I'll never understand how a father can just give away his son like that." Killian looked at the SIB agents. "I hope you find the kid you're looking for. It's awful when they go missing."

Oh shit...

He was in trouble. He looked down at the boy in his arms and prayed that this wasn't teh same child they were looking for, but with the next question he knew that it was. "Yeah, I did. And I know that's illegal and wrong, but I was doing it to save the kid... The guy said the mother wasn't in the picture, that she had abandoned the kid as well." He frowned.

"If I saw him again I'd be able to identify the man. I remember exactly what he looks like." He told the agents. "I'll never forget his looks and how drunk he was." Killian told them. "I only did it to save him from his father."

He really was in deep shit...

Killian frowned. He didn't want to let the baby go. That was the last thing he wanted to do. He'd do anything to protect the child. Because he was a single male he'd failed the adoption process. They didn't think a male on his own had valid reasons to adopt. Finally he nodded. "He likes to he held and rocked..." Killian told her as the boy stirred when he handed him over.

"My name is Killian Doyle. Should I get myself a lawyer?"

Killian frowned, this day couldn't get any worse. He'd known that it wasn't right, but he had to save the child. Pulling out his own phone, he contacted his lawyer asking him to meet him at the SIB offices and that he figured he was in some deep water. But if he'd left the child with his father...

Killian didn't want to think about that. Unlike Caleb, he was fully cooperative with the agents hoping that would get him out of deep water with these guys. "Tell the mother I'm sorry... I just wanted to do what's best for him and his father wasn't good for him."

Killian took the child back into his arms in the room. They hadn't throught that he'd hurt him, right? They couldn't have if they were handing him back for a moment. He sighed, rocking the baby in his arms while pacing up and down, telling himself that he was innocent and didn't have to worry about anything. He'd saved the child from his father, that was the main thing.

"I'm sorry little man." He smiled, moving a lock of hair out of his face. "If I'd known your mother was out missing you, I would have bought you straight back to her. I'm sure that's why you were crying now. You missed your mommy, didn't you." He sighed.

He took a seat and sighed, once again he was childless. Maybe it was meant to be that way. Maybe he wasn't supposed to be a father. But how in the hell was the other guy supposed to be a father when he actively went out and sold his kid?

Killian nodded and just followed the agent. He didn't fight or protest, unlike Caleb who would have been fighting every step of the way. He paused outside the room for a moment, just to look at the kid in his arms one last time. "You won't have to cry or scream any more, little man." He muttered. "I'll miss you." He kissed the boy on the forehead before stepping inside.

Immediately he glanced at the mother. "Here's your son. I looked after him. I can give you the stuff I bought for him." Killian didn't know what to say to the mother, but he hoped his words comforted her as he handed her child back. "I'm sorry."

Killian frowned. "I won't come back and see her. She just wants time with her son. I'm sure when she realises that I bought her son she won't want to know me." He told her before they were interrupted. He frowned as he looked at James and then Romanae. He had a feeling that things were about to get bad. His stomach sank as he nodded, following the other male to an interrogation room.

"If I need a lawyer I'd like to wait for him." Killian frowned as he sat himself down once he was in the interrogation room.

Killian took the papers and his face visibly paled as he read the information. "Surely this is a mistake. Or their are two men with the name Evan Doyle." He frowned. Suddenly he realised what this could implicate him in. It made it look like Caleb, his half-brother (if their father was the same man), contacted him for help in selling his child. "I have brothers. Alexi, Shawn and James. They're my only brothers though."

Killian felt sick. He had only wanted to save a baby from it's drunken father and now it seemed like it was a set up because he was related to the baby's father. "I should wait for my lawyer..."

A few minutes later his lawyer, Matthew Jenkins arrived and was asking for Killian Doyle.

"I just wanted to save a child." Killian frowned. "That's all I wanted to do."

Matthew soon knocked on the door. Him and Killian were old friends, Matthew was slightly older than his friend but frowned, knowing it was unlike Killian to get in trouble. In fact, the male had never being in trouble. He took a seat next to Killian and tried to give a reassuring smile.

"What seems to be the problem with my client here?" Matthew asked James.

Matthew frowned and looked at Killian. "You did what?"

"I was trying to save him from his father. Matthew, you've know me since I was a kid. I'd never had set up the sale of a child. I never even knew about the guy until tonight. He assured me that he was the child's father and just didn't want the baby. I thought because I wanted to take care of the kid it would be okay. He said the mother wasn't in the picture. If I'd known that it was a missing child I would have gone straight to the police." Killian was panicking now. He'd go down for a lot of years for this if he was found guilty.

Matthew looked at James. "Do you have any evidence that my client and the man behind all of this made contact?"

All the paper had finally been done and Matthew and Killian were out of the offices, with Killian sulking over the consequences to his actions. Matthew was now chewing his ear off at his stupidity and Killian had had enough. Luckily, Matthew had somewhere to be and parted ways, trusting Killian to find his own way home without causing trouble or buying more babies from the street. Killian had made sure to get his old friend to promise not to mention this incident to the family.

Sighing, he decided that he wasn't ready to return home to his once again empty house. It still had the kid's stuff there and he didn't want to go face it. So instead, he plonked his ass on a bench outside the offices and sulked some more.

Killian looked up a little surprised that Assa was talking to him. "I.. Er... No problem." Killian told her quietly. "I didn't want a child with a man like that. That's why I bought him. Unfortunately, no one else seems to see it like that because I didn't go straight to the police or anywhere else. If I had he would of gone straight to foster care, I bet. But still. I bought a child to keep him safe and now I have to suffer the repercussions of my actions." He frowned.

"Sorry, I shouldn't of said that." He frowned. "Ignore me."

Killian looked at Cetec and smiled slightly. It was still painful though. "I could never hurt a child. I only bought him to get him away from the drunk holding him." He'd paid an extortionate ammount that he'd mentioned in his statement. Killian sighed, he'd never be allowed near a child again now because of this, no matter what SIB said. He'd still be getting checks done. They'd still be watching him, even after six months. Just in case.

"I didn't know that Caleb was my half-brother. I've never met him before." Killian just wanted to justify that he was nothing like the awful man he was related to. "If I'd known his mother was deserately looking for him, I would have given him back sooner. I bought him some things. They're back at my place though. I'll get them and bring them to your place." He explained, shifting his feet. This was so uncomfortable and painful.

Killian frowned. "I hope he rots in hell." He had never known he had a half brother and he didn't want to know him. He screwed up his chance at giving a kid a good home. For that, Killian would hate him for life.

"Some people just shouldn't have kids. I don't know why he did it but I don't regret taking him in. He was half frozen. I made sure he got warm and then he stopped crying. He's a gorgeous baby." He smiled slightly looking at the boy in her arms.

"You're lucky to have him. I wish the world worked in simple ways. Caleb shouldn't have kids. There are people out there desperate for children and he treats it like he can just sell a kid like some trade." He sounded passionate about that, like he spoke from experience. "I'm glad you got your baby back though."

What could it hurt to tell a stranger. It wasn't like he'd be seeing her again once he dropped Cetec's stuff off at her place. "Yeah. I can't have kids. I failed the adoption process and now, because I bought Cetec from Caleb, I'll most likely never be able to adopt again. The world has a funny way of doing things. The good guy gets punished. And then you have Caleb sewing his seed and not giving a damn when people like me want to give a child a good home." He frowned. "Doesn't seem right, does it?"

"Name's Killian. Most call me Kill. Ironic, isn't it?" He murmured.

He sighed. "Maybe. I don't know if it will. But hey, I should just give up. Maybe it's God's way of telling me that I won't be cut out to be a dad. I'll get over it." He sighed.

Killian shrugged. "I hope your right but things look pretty damn bad right now. You can't be a father according to the adoption services without been married for years and good. And now I'm been taken off all records. Any application I send in will be instantly rejected for the next six months. For the next six months I'm being investigated incase this baby selling thing is something I planned. That will keep me getting rejected for life. And I can't have my own kids." He sighed. "I'm real glad you got your kid back though."

When Killian saw the other male, he frowned, not sure what to do or say to the man. He wasn't sure it was wise to let him know that he had bought his nephew. Some people wouldn't take kindly to that. Assa had, and he'd be grateful for that, but her brother... maybe he wouldn't be so grateful. After all, buying a child was illegal. "I'll bring them over. I won't be needing them any time soon, I can be pretty sure about that."

He thought about things for a moment. "How about I come by next week? I can bring his stuff by then. Then you can decide what you want to keep and throw out." He then looked to Savvas, knowing that he should introduce himself. "Name's Killian. I'm sorry about what my ass of a half-brother did." He told the male.

Killian saw the look Savvas gave him. He was related to that child, he suddenly realised. He was the kid's half-uncle. He considered what kind of access that could grant him, but he doubted he'd be allowed near the kid once they'd gotten the stuff. Sighing, he took the paper and nodded. "I'll bring the stuff over sometime on Monday, that okay?"

Killian smiled when she mentioned Cetec been up at six. "He was up at six for me. Cetec liked to be rocked. I didn't know his name so I kind of called him Evan for a bit, after my father." He stood up. "I'll see you Monday night then."

Killian nodded, watching to make sure Assa got to the car okay before turning around and walking home. He had to face the place sooner or later and the quicker he got rid of Cetec's stuff, the quicker he could ignore the pain of losing the child.

Killian looked at the address in hand and then at the door. It was the right place. This is where Cetec lived, back with his mother. It had been a few days since they'd handed the baby over and Killian had hated every minute of being alone.

Now though, he had the things in the boot, and his plan was to just drop them off and then leave. What he did not want to do is see Cetec and feel even worse. He'd been tempted to call around earlier to see the kid, as half-uncle he had rights, right? But he figured that it would just cause him more pain.

It was best not to see Cetec at all.

Well that plan had failed miserably. As soon as the door was opened he was dragged inside and to Cetec. "Wow." That's all he could say. He was completely blown away as he watch Cetec crawl towards the teddy. Killian couldn't help but smile, his body overcome by joy and he too found himself feeling like a proud parent. The joy was short lived though.

"I've brought the things I brought over. Just chuck anything you don't want. It won't bother me." He told her. "I should probably go out to the car and grab the things." He added, shuffling on his feet and not knowing what to do as he found the situation awkward.

"I'll just go get his things." He repeated.
