Description

The Legion of Shadows

Shadowlings/Commanders
Image

These are the rarest of all of Draco's underlings, and answer to him only. They were created from smaller parts of Draco's own pure power, making them extremely capable. So far, only four have ever been documented. They are identified by their proud stature, and their red and black military uniforms adorned with medals of all kinds. They are much more passive than anything else in Draco's Legion; preferring to let the dirty work do itself rather than doing it themselves. Though they do so with the utmost efficiency.

Commandos
Image

The newest addition to Draco's Legion, Commandos were the toughest soldiers before their ...conscription... into the Legion. Draco actively searches for those worthy to be part of his Commando batallion. These men and women are silent in every sense of the word. They are physically incapable of speech or vocal noises, they move with the utmost efficiency, and are very adept at remaining undetected. They can be seen wielding any assortment of weapons from blades to guns to even blunt objects or nothing at all. They are easily identifiable by their all black armor with red visors.

Screaming Minotaur
Image

These behemoths are the shock troops of Draco's forces. True to their name, they scream at the top of their lungs the entire time they're in combat. The origin of what is making them scream in such a way is known only to Draco, and to them: Being under Draco's influence is like having their souls torn from their body one flake of spiritual essence at a time; and the pain is unbearable. They stand at about ten feet in height and weigh a solid two tons of pure muscle. They range from no armor or cloth at all to fully suited knights, and almost always wield ungodly axes with chipped and rusting blades, so that even a glancing blow will weaken someone from the sickness gained from touching the rusted metal. These are the most easily identifiable due to their size and sound.

Shadows
Image

The most numerous, and arguably the most terrifying of Draco's Legion are the simple Shadows. The captured souls of those foolish enough to face Draco and his Legion are more than likely going to join the rank. The unholy beasts fight with every part of their body, and come in three variations: Slashers, Trappers, and Bashers. These basic troops are always accompanied by grabbing Tendrils that appear from the shadows they also spawn from to grab unsuspecting victims and drag them into the abyss after shaking and beating the fight out of them. From the Abyss, they are conscripted.

Slashers
Image

Slashers are the weakest and most numerous of the three types. They are characterized by their long slender bodies, and long, bladed fingers and toes as well as sharp teeth.

Trappers
Image

Trappers are quite rare among Shadows, in the fact that they only appear in order to intimidate an enemy into staying where the rest of the Legion can easilly get to them. It is not uncommon for groups of these Shadows to trap unsuspecting "conscriptees" inside of buildings, where the rest of the Legion can close in. Characterized easiest by their long flowing cloaks that spread out to block any route of escape.

Bashers
Image

Bashers are the heavy hitters of the Shadows, and are often seen wearing armor over their imposing bodies, and carrying shields much like a Roman cohort. True to their name and size, it is their job to pound any resistance out of their enemies by force with whatever they can find. A pipe, a stick, their shields their bare hands, and in rare occurrences, each-other. Identifiable by their imposing stature of seven feet tall; usually wearing some sort of metal armor.

Hounds
Image

Contrary to their names, the Hounds of Draco's Legion are not canines. Well, not explicitly. The term Hound is given to whatever Abomination the Abyss can churn out after absorbing enough single body parts or souls unfit to be soldiers. Abominations consisting of any number of parts assembled in a way to be functional. Easily identifiable due to the fact that many demons even quiver at the sight of them.

The Air-Fleet of the Abyss.

The Drakon Class

The Drakon class is named for the ancestors to the Dragons: The Drakons. Meant to embody true, unyielding power, this airship serves as Draco's Flagship, and as such, is nigh indestructible. Powered by Draco's own essence, it requires no fuel, crewed by the Legion, it requires no food, so everything can be focused towards defense and armament. Sporting 20 forty-inch barrels in five turrets, two forwards and three aft, the ship-to-ship capabilities of the Drakon Class should never be scoffed at. It also sports countless 12-inch gun emplacements acting as dual-purpose secondary batteries. The Drakon also is equipped with numerous auto-cannons of various sizes to aid in point defense. Every single main battery and secondary gun battery fires Corrupted Lightfire shells, which render anything touched by the blasts infertile, decays everything like acid, and can punch through magical barriers with just one salvo. Each gun reloads once every minute and thirty seconds while each secondary gun takes thirty seconds to reload.

So begins...

A heartbeat.

That's all anyone paying attention could hear. Shadows began to bubble and sway to the beat of a heart. The busy city streets were the perfect target for his Legion. A lone man stood atop one of the shorter buildings and looked down over the busy streets and sidewalks. His military uniform was adorned with many pins and medals, and his stature was tall and proud. He had a simple face; cut jaw, short hair, brown eyes, fair skin.

Another person, a female, in a similar uniform, stood closer to the police station's perimeter, staring inside with her own brown eyes and simple face. She turned away, and then vanished into an alleyway of darkness. This would do.

Then all at once, everything shut down. Traffic lights, street lights, cars, trucks, buses, no matter; it shut down. The shadows beneath began to bubble up, and cars began to sink into the streets. From the alley ways, shadowy figures emerged and started sprinting as fast as race-horses in full gallop towards the clueless citizens of the city. Most of them were slender and fragile looking, with jagged, sharp claws on their hands and feet that they used to attack the citizens who were outside of their cars or on the sidewalks. Some were larger and had thick forearms, and they used them to slam into cars, pushing them faster into the puddles of their own shadows that they were sinking into.

If any citizens tried to escape, they'd be met by simple floating beings of darkness with cloaks that flared out to block their path, and the sound of the heartbeat in their heads to drive them back to the fray. From the shadows of fallen citizens, small tendrils would appear, and they would pull the bodies down into the abyss. Tendrils would also appear from the shadow puddles beneath the cars, pulling them down too while the thick-armed Bashers slammed into the machines, pushing them further and faster into the abyss as well.

Thicker, longer tendrils would burst forth from the shadows of the Trappers with their cloaks, and would grab any who tried to push on and escape anyway. The tendrils would attempt to grab their fleeing prey, then kill them by bashing them into the ground as if they were angry children with broken toys.

A smile slowly spread across the military-uniform-clad man on the rooftop's face, and he spoke eight words. "Lord Draco will be Pleased with this harvest."

Deep below the streets of Wing City, where a dark hallow lies, rested a large mass of black and orange fur. It lay on a ball, shifting every so often in the hole it burrowed through the rock and concrete. This ancient being awoke now, disturbed by echoes from above. It moves, with red eyes turning now upwards towards the ruckus. With an angry clattering of its claws as it stands the giant wolf like creature begins its ascension to the surface.

From underneath one of the larger slamming creatures an orange glow can be seen, shortly before an eruption of melted stone and fire bursts forth from the ground in a thirty meter diameter. From this hole sprouts first the head, then the rest of a gigantic black and orange wolf monstrocity. It stood well over 20 feet tall at the shoulder and measured around 45 feet from nose to tail. This gigantic creature roars in anger and shatters the nearby windows with only its voice.

Whisps of flame gather at the corners of this monsters maw before it breaths a gout of orange fire as wide as the street and just as tall. This fire breath would likely burn everything down the entire avenue it was facing, and soon it enough it smashed through sections of nearby buildings as it turned around to do the same attack again the other way.

After clearing the road of living things the wolf raises its face to the sky and howls unlike anything heard before in Wing City, its anger very apparent from just having been awoken.

A smile spread across the Shadowling's face. He raised his hand, and pointed at the fire-breathing creature. Next was a melody of screaming. Hundreds of Screaming Minotaur all wearing heavy armor and wielding ungodly rusted and chipped battle axes charged the creature, swinging their axes while they did so. Each was about half the creature's size and each weight over a ton in total.

"You will make a fine addition to his Legion." the Shadowling snickered as tendrils pulled away the left over cars and carcasses, pulling them into the abyss to be reused and transformed. But why would Draco need cars? Unknown. That was for another time, anther place.

Mighty Tendrils of thick shadow burst forth from the burning buildings and the surrounding alleyways, aiming to coil around the body of the wolf-creature and hold it still so that the Screaming Minotaur may use thier blades to harm it significantly. Once weakened, the Tendrils would begin their mighty pulling, and more would burst forth from the shadow of the Wolf itself to pull it down into the abyss.

"You will be mine, child. I will guarantee you limitless power. I will break your mortal chains and make you immortal. I will be your salvation.

Draco's voice echoed throughout the city and within the minds of all who were open enough to listen. His voice was strong and powerful; echoed by three million years of wisdom, anger, and hatred for those who oppose him.

"Give in, and I will give you everything you ask for."

Screams, while a common occurance around the wolf, were some of the most annoying sounds in the known universe. In the wolfs case it was doubly so, if that were even possible. The echoing melody of these screams caused the large beast to flatten its ears and roar in protest of the noise. It seemed a voice too traveled on the wind. Through the creatures rage it only understood one word, Legion.

The monstrocity cared little for this voice and faced the oncoming attacks with fire on its breath. Before it could make its move however the surrounding shadows latched on, restricting its movements. The wolf pulled against them as it unleashed a full torrent of flame, this time purple in color, which would bind any creature with over twice its own mass. The flames still burnes like normal fire as well, giving the minotaurs a double whammy.

This did not help the wolf escape the shadows however, and it howled in anger is it was slowly brought down onto its belly. The curse in its body began to show now, as sections of its hide turned to mystic stone half molten and crusted with ancient writing and moss. The wolf got even bigger as its curse took hold, growing out to ten times its initial size and weight. Its now 200 foot tall body was pressing out the nearby buildings, and its entire body had gone from fur and fire to an ancient magic stone colossus.

The shadows would have trouble holding down such a giant creature, and its now deafening roar echoes across the city as it tried to sniff out the leader of these shadows to exact pain upon him or her.

A smile, hidden from view, expanded now, as lips peeled back to reveal a set of dagger-like teeth. The Trapper Shadows formed a wall in front of the Bestial Wolf as the Minotaurs who burned screamed even louder, and swung even harder with their axes, trying to now break the stone skin before they died and fell into the abyss of their own shadows. The trapper wall suddenly connected and grew in size; forming one solid wall of darkness.

Two glowing eyes appeared in the darkness. Red coals from the deepest pits of hell itself. "Come now, child. I can free you from this life." Of course, Draco knew nothing of the curse the wolf suffered from; by life, he meant his actual life. Draco wanted this poor child's soul for his Legion; he'd make an excellent addition to his...collection.

The wall before the Wolf began to shimmer and fade as it fell slowly to the ground, revealing Draco himself. One hundred and seven meters tall he towered over the cursed wolf, and that was just at the shoulder. Draco's own maw crackled with lightning of pure hatred and darkness. As the shadowy curtain fell and revealed his body, those awesome wings capable of making this massive lizard fly at sub-sonic speeds crackled with lightning as they slowly spread out to make Draco's already large body seem five times as large. His tail swung back and forth with little to no regard for the buildings in its wake. His scales were blacker than the darkest night, and were thick enough to shield him from most anything.

"Come, now.... I have come to the conclusion that we all want Freedom....I recently attained mine....I can show you your path." Draco's voice rumbled from deep in his maw, while it hardly moved while he spoke.

The colossol wolf stayed its ground as it observed a curtain of black form in front of it. The minotaurs were little more than a tick in his hide at this point. All attention and rage from this beast focussed forwards on the new threat. As its true form was revealed the red eyed darkness would get doused in a torrent of blue mystical flames shooting out hundreds of yards to torch the mass of black. Even the voice seemed to carry no weight over such an instinct driven creature, although from the change of its posture and actions it was obvious that it had some understanding of speech.

Shortly after the voice finished its monolouge and the mystic flames died down, the colossus roared once more in hatred. But instead of attacking, the wolf began to shrink as its stone body returned to that of flesh and blood. Not only did the wolf return to size but it even went another step further, the black and orange wolf shrinking down into the body of a young male humanoid with bright and wild orange hair.

It seems that whatever energy it had been using to remain in such a large state ran out quickly, and even now the once massive being was once again entangled in shadows as its unconscious body became one with the void along with the rest of the devoured city scape.

A sort of offended scoff came from the Dragon's throat as his own body shrank down to the size of a human male, shifting into a similar form dressed in a large black coat as he stood over the body of the unconscious boy as he sank into the abyss. Draco's eyes narrowed.

"Drain his spiritual energy, enough to make exact copies. If he can't handle his own power, he's of no use to our Legion." He said calmly as the man in the black and red military uniform appeared beside him. The man bowed and the boy was dragged into the abyss for all of five seconds before being spit out.

"Pitiful." Draco growled, kicking a stray pebble of gravel at the boy's unconscious body. "Even my weakest child has more energy than this ....mongrel." Another growl of frustration before his body began to sink straight down, becoming liquid and vanishing.

"Drain the rest of the city of its materials and souls. Quickly."

Still unconscious, the cursed male was taken in and drained of his spiritual energy. The only problem with this was that there were two of these energies within the male. One was pure anger and heat, while the other was far more ancient than even this rare beast and had a consciousness of its own. Known by some as Soul Edge, this dark power animated from a sword shard hidden underneath the male's ribcage in the middle of his chest.

Even with these energies drained and weakened, the male began to come too as a pebble bounced his way. Immediately the sound of shattering stone could be heard as the male snatched the pebble in his teeth and crunched it into dust out of rage. The transformation was immediate, and there was to behold the 20 foot high wall of wolfin fur and flesh. As it roar in pain and anger it dug into the concrete, burrowing its way violently down into the subterranian world of Terra. Within seconds it had vanished, heading down towards the hotter parts of the earth in order to lick its wounds and plan out its revenge.

On top of one of the smoldering building overlooking the battle Rin saw the young wolf being drag down to the void. Thinking to himself or maybe it was a faded memory but the void of blackness looks so much like where Rin was born. Bring unwanted memories was the last thing he wanted. Jumping from the skyscraper he was watching from and landed a few paces from a man dress in black. Taking a closer look at him the man seem powerful enough to form a contract with but is he really. With a low voice that seem to be charge with power Rin spoke the first words of greeting.

"My name is Rin Darkstar, and I am sure you can sense that I am not fully human so let's get straight to the point, I need somebody to form a contract with, and what i can see you might be able, to show I'm not a weakling a demastrighting is in order."

Rin lifted his left-hand and form a orb of black and blue arcanic energy, and with a flick or the wrest he fire the orb at the skyscraper he jump from. The orb hit it's mark with and impact that shook the ground even from where they stand, next a column of black and blue flames engulf the building from bottom to top turning it to ash in seconds.

"I will tell you more about the contract ones you think about it more, until than i will watch you have your fun."

Draco paused in his step only as another appeared in front of him. He said nothing and didn't bother to blink as the boy destroyed another building as if it were nothing. It was then that he scoffed. "If you think that small display of force is enough to impress me of all people you are surely mistaken child."

"My weakest child could do the same thing with her wing while stretching out. Now then; what contract do you have in mind?" he asked. He had to admit he was curious what this child could offer him. And already he was thinking of ways to turn the contract around and enslave this...Rin Darkstar to the Legion for an eternity.

One last question, he thought, opening his mouth to speak. "Do you know who I am? As a being of Darkness you should always be....in the know....of those who are more powerful than yourself." Chances were that the boy in front of him knew nothing of who he was. Already his Legion prepared for an assault from all sides on the boy in front of him. The Trappers had formed the perimeter wall already, and the shadows began to boil and bubble.

From beside Draco rose his Shadowling adviser, dressed in his black and red military uniform with medals on his chest. He spoke to Draco calmly: "Si ibleuavi dujzarn wux zexenuma doegel, sia ith. Si shilta ti winev ekik wer gemuth zara jacida bisekim garris."

Draco grunted and nodded, replying: "Tir ti xihood, vrak. Draco tepohaic authot aurthon iacoeni persvek wer boja ekess vucot svabol jaci ui tirir." he and his Shadowling spoke in their ancient Draconian Language; none but a chosen few could understand it let alone speak it. It was a deep and gutteral way of speaking, one that would feel as though one's throat were being torn apart from the inside out while they spoke. Hence why only Dragons and Dragon-kin could speak it.

"Now come, child. Tell me what your contract entails." Draco said, gesturing to a table as it appeared from the bubbling abyss in front of them, complete with stools for chairs.

Imperial Garrison, Wing City Plaza

A short ways away from Wing city Plaza, a regiment of Imperial Guardsman were busy with routine patrols. Making sure to enforce the law as acting police officers. However from where they were they could see the sinister event happening just nearby, a wall of shadows was seen at their response was intimidate. "This is Imperial Garrison A-149, we have an emergency! We request an immediate transfer to the Commissar!" One of the sergeants began to speak into his vox and his call was transferred almost immediately.

"Report Guardsman."

"Commissar sir! We have reason to believe the plaza of this city is under attack by the demonic creatures from the Undermarket! We are requesting immediate aid! Foul witchcraft is also at work and we may need a powerful psyker to break through the shadow wall!"

"Understood, all avaliable force are converging on the plaza immediantly. We have reports of a space marine already on the planet and in the area after clearing a former xeno presence. Regroup with him at the following coordinates, reinforcements will arrive in less than a minute. Emperor guide you all." And with that the Commissar ended the call and the motorized regiment was already driving to the coordinates their commanding officer gave them.

Just a fair distance away a red blur was running on the streets, one of the Imperiums finest a space marine was running at speeds faster than any car could go. However this was no ordinary space marine, Captain Carnaelgaar of the Blood Ravens was already en route to the Plaza once he sensed the dark presence. He had ordered his brothers in space to prepare to deep strike in at the following cordinates.

Before the guardsman could arrive, Carnaelgaar had arrived first followed by the shattering impact of multiple drop pods unlaoding a ddetachment of at least 50 space marines, three Librarians, 20 Tactical Marines armed with their standard bolter and rounds, ten Devastator Marines five armed with heavy bolters and the other five armed with a las-cannon,and 17 Assault marines, 15 of which were armed with cainswords and the remaining two armed with power swords."We do not have time, I will shatter this magic barrier, follow me immediately." He spoke knowing every second mattered. The souls of the innocent were being harvested, just like the forces of chaos. Channeling his psychic might he sent a powerful energy blast to shatter a small hole in the barrier from him and his group to get through. The guardsman would only get in the way, however once their full force arrive the sanctioned Psykers would be enough to lead the Imperial Guard armored company through.

The Shadowling in the military uniform took a startled breath as the hole was blasted through the simple shadow barrier. Immediately it began to close, and Tendrils surrounded the hole to assault any trying to enter or escape. The tendrils would lash out at the Marines and at the guardsmen and women while a battalion of Bashers appeared in full armor and shield, Roman Cohort style, surrounding the breach in the defense with spears of unholy darkness lowered and ready.

The smash and grab proceeded, the citizens screaming for mercy and help as they were dragged into the abyss or assaulted and torn to shreds. Trappers formed a new barrier behind the surrounding battalion of Bashers, preventing most anything from escaping or entering from the side. Tendrils also came from their shadows to assault all non-shadows nearby. The Shadowling grinned and his eyes began to glow.

"Yes....this is good...Commandos for the Legion...." he said, looking over at the guardsmen and Space Marines as they fought with the Bashers, who held their ground, bullets and other projectiles bouncing off their shields and armor, or passing through their bodies like nothing. "Lord Draco will be most Pleased with this Catch."

The space marines with their immense training and biologically enhanced skills easily avoided the tendrils that dared to counterattack them. The Tacticals and Devastators raised their weapons as the Bashers arrived and fired .75 caliber rounds, each one rocket propelled at the enemy. However their sheilds resisted the gunfire and their ethereal like bodies made it impossible for psychical arms to harm, they were winning...for a few seconds that is.

The captain launched Storm of the Emperor's Wrath, a powerful psychic lighting which would render their shields of little protection and would burn the creatures ethereal like bodies. The Librarians channeled their Psychic might through the very ammunition of the space marines, surrounded each bolt round with a psychic field which would allow them to harm the ethereal like creatures and even them they would still harm any normal creature that stood in their way. They also did the same for the assault marines and surrounded their swords with the very same energy. The marines focused on the tendrils while the Librarians and Captain focused their efforts on clearing the heavily armored foes with ease as they pushed forward.

For the guardsman however, as the tendrils attacked them they began to pull back. They knew they did not have the means without any psychic support and began to pull back to await reinforcements. Of course that did not stop them for opening fire on the demonic things.

"Most Interesting."

One million echoing screams were heard as the rumbling voice penetrated psychic barriers through sheer force. The Bashers only kept coming, marching to battle without a care, each fallen would be replaced without fail, and despite the Captain's best efforts and the help of his Marines and Libararians, the battle line hardly moved. The psychic Lightning turned black and was pulled into the Shadows as a pair of coals ignited in the wall of Shadow behind the Marines, watching them silently.

The mortified screams of mangled corpses rose from the shadows of the guardsman while the Shadow Hounds emerged and began to try and knaw on their ankles and burst forth from literally all directions like an infection. Thousands of them all at once charging the retreating guardsman. Hedious creatures that put Frankenstein's monster to shame, random assortments of heads and body parts flung together for the hell of it, claws, daggers, teeth and moaning screams of pain and agony prevalent.

The coals were snuffed out soon by the shadow as the voice was no longer heard. The wall closed behind the Marines, severing them from reinforcements or escape. And instead of a hole, there was now Screaming. Fully armored Minotaurs, with shields and Axes, charged into the fray from behind the Marines, swinging and screaming at the tops of their lungs, this armor thicker and stronger than that of the Bashers, so much so that it would take fifteen direct hits in the exact same spot by 105mm APCR rounds to dent it. Their skin and muscle wasn't anything to sniff at either. For one, they smelled terrible, and two, they put most tank armor to shame with their hides alone. They were strong enough to lift a Tank, too, and wouldn't stop their swinging of their massive, rusted axes.

The Shadowling began to chuckle again as he watched. The Smash and Grab was almost done; if he could harvest some fresh soldiers for his Lord, Draco would likely reward him.

The captain held his head as the thousands of souls struck his head, hearing them all was like a hammer hitting his head repeatedly. However the demons think they were winning as most certainly the avantage was in their favor however they were wrong. The marines did not falter and grouped together, each one of them were powerful enough to fight tanks but now...now the tide turns into their favor once more. "Today brothers we shall destroy these wicked and demonic forces! With the Emperos might none shall stand in our way, we will not know fear this day for we are fear incarnate! For the Emperor! For he is our shield and protector!" The Captain called out as the Libarians cast Might of Heroes, infusing every individual marine with more strength, so much in fact that the assault marines rushed the massive Minotaurs, their speed were now improved to a point where they could easily avoid their slow and sluggish attacks, and retaliated with a force more than capable of actually slicing portions of the demons armor. The ones armed with power weapons would cut through their armor like a hot knife through butter, the sword separated the molecular bonds of the armor allowing their blade to cut through the armor and into the horrid abominations under it.

The Libarians then cast Might of the Ancients, a psychic power which boosted only the users power to unimaginable levels, however with with their already boosted power each one of them were now angels of death. With one hit with their power weapons, they cleaved easily through their opponents, with as much effort as it took to swat a fly and they faught with righteous fury continuing to crush their enemies whether it be by hand or weapon.

The guardsman however were spared, the Librarians granted them strength, such strength that as the Guardsman faught back with such vigor and speed that they would match even a space marine in combat. "For the Emperor! Kill these demons and send them back to where they come from!" The marines and brave guardsman all yelled out together and continued to fight.

The Captain however had new plans, this strange presence he had just felt, a being of immense power...it was the commander here and he needed to ensure he did not interfere. He opened up his mind, and he would attempt to enter Draco's very mind to engage in a psychic duel in which only the two would be able to interfere in. Ethereal, human or demon, he was not afraid.

While the battle, Draco appeared before the Captain as their minds connected. Draco seemed a young man in his early thirties, in a large black military overcoat, with trim of red and boots of a matching black. His slick black hair was combed back professionally, and his eyes were coals from the deepest pits of hell.

"You are a fool to come alone. Let alone into the mind of Draco of the Shadows. Lord of Darkness, and greatest single strength on this planet." he spoke, hands behind his back as he stared at the Captain, only standing a few inches taller than the mere man before him. The Darkness around the two rippled, and Draco smiled. "Have you come to surrender your soul to the Legion?" he growled, amused.

A mist filled the air, and the Minotaurs gained a speed-boost, able to now match the Marines in their speed and in combat. Tendrils of Darkness emerged lightning fast from the shadows of the Librarians, and coiled tightly around whatever they could grab, arms, legs, necks, bodies, etc., and began to squeeze. Hard. The aim was to cause so much pain that they could no longer cast their spells.

"I commend you, though. No one has been able to penetrate my own mental barriers, even if they are down. Let alone doing so without fear." Draco brought his hands together and clapped a few times before returning them to behind his back, his amused look becoming more civil and orderly. "What is it you want, child? There is no way you can vanquish me, mentally or physically. You can destroy my Legion all you like, but me? I cannot die. Even the supreme being of light in the multiverse has tried. And she failed." he said.

He cleared his throat, a deathly, draconian growl echoing out, and rumbling the foundations of the Captain's bridge to Draco's mind. It would become apparent that Draco could very easily lock the man out if he so desired, or lock him inside, and take his body for the Legion. So perhaps the question was: Why didn't he?

"To many it is indeed foolish to challenge a powerful creature all alone, however I have done this many times. As long as we are here both of us are unable to do anything until one of us is beaten. In a sense I keeping you here while my brothers destroy the abominations on the ground...I am not here to surrender, I am here to destroy you and send you back to where you came from demon, we do not stand idly by while you steal the souls of the innocent." The captain spoke as he kept his hands idle at his side.

For the marines on the ground, as the Minotaurs gained a boost in speed they were now being able to counter their speed, however no marine relented. Their skill in battle was long since forged, it has been trained time after time. They would never falter to abominations whose sole purpose was to blindly kill.

"Curious that you don't try to force me out and claim my body, many demons would have done that...attempted to that is. And as for your statement that you can't die...I would beg to differ, the mighty God Emperor has slain demons as old as time, faced the four Gods Of Chaos at the same time and won, and even in his current state he has enough power to still face them and use his power in the material world. No creature is immune to death, everything has its end one day. However being beaten and being killed are two separate things. You can try and claim my body but I should have you know, you are not the only powerful demon that has claimed immortality and had immense power that I have faced before...If you think I jest, by all means face me in this duel. The many other demons would say otherwise." The Captain remained calm, no once of fear in his body despite the grave threat.

Draco chuckled again. "Your first mistake is counting me as a Demon. I am not; I am merely a Dragon. An ancient one. One of the oldest surviving Dragons around." he said calmly. Again he made no move to force the captain out, nor to take control of his body. He had no desire to do so, and that was evident; he hadn't tried yet. "You cannot send me back from whence I came. As this abyss is my home. This is my birthplace." Of course, that wasn't true; he was a corrupted Dragon, born from the Light as all were; and corrupted by the Wolf Queen while an adolescent. So at this point, he was telling the truth, actually.

Outside, as the Minotaurs fell, Hounds sprouted from their bodies, faster than the Marines albeit one-hit kills as they were merely there to harrass while the Basher battalion closed slowly, and pressed them back while they were distracted. The Marines would find their fighting space very limited very quickly.

"Come now; I have told you my name, what is yours?" Draco extended a hand in greeting, offering a handshake, though what he'd do once contact was made was unknown. From within, he could plant a seed of corruption that would avoid detection until the Captain was at his weakest before activating, or he could attempt to kill him then and there, or he would do nothing. Only one way to find out.

Beyond the battle ground, the lesser Shadows were in the process of hunting down the last of the scared civilians to bring them to the abyss. If the Marines were to save anyone they needed to break through the defensive line. NOW.

"I am Captain Carnaelgarr Cysius of the Blood Ravens. So you are a dragon...I have only face one other dragon in this universe. However if I can't send you back to where you came from I will just destroy you myself in this world." The Captain spoke and did not shake Draco's hand. He was his enemy against man, and he had no intention of trying to be friendly.

"By the will of the Emperor I will destroy you Dragon, an enemy of humanity shall be destroyed by the Imperium. And I will see you destroyed wether you are a god or not..." The captain spoke as he now got ready to fight. His physical weapons were gone, this was a battle of the minds so he conjured a sword which was a manifestation of himself.

For the marines on the ground, as the creatures closed the distance they prepared to engage the enemy in close combat. The marines engaging the Minotaurs would be surprised from the Hounds however they only distracted them and causing damage to their armor.

The Libarians that have been bound broke free from the tendrils and continued to try and get through the small opening. However suddenly many minds came together and a massive combined psychic attack hit the barrier shattering it. From afar a legion of Tanks from Lemen Russ Battle Tanks to Baneblades began to open fire on the enemy lines, near the tanks thousands of Guardsman charegd forward opening fire with their Las-guns. In the Skies Valkyrie ships flew overhead bombarding the enemy and Drop Troopers followed the explosives and began to secure drop points and began to secure civilians.

The Imperial Guard has arrived and leading them all was none other than Ciaphas Cain, riding on his own personal baneblade. The entire area was surrounded and neaby mortar and artillery positions bombarded the enemy from miles away. And in the air many more drop pods began to land. Dreadnaughts, walking tanks were sent down and lumbered forward crushing all with its massive fists. Hundreds more space marines began to crash in the area along with a couple more librarians. The Barrier was gone, and the assault could fully commence for the Emperor has delivered his wrath upon the enemy.

Draco only laughed as the man conjured his weapon, the laugh began to rumble the foundations of the mental connection between the two, and the screams echoed within his head as they echoed Draco's rumbling cackle. His laughter only grew as his armor entered the realm and formed on his body. Swept-back and Draconian in Design, his twin swords of Darkness appeared in his hands as he then slammed his foot upon the floor of the mental link, and within a flash of lightning, shattered it, sending the Captain back to his own body, and himself to his own. The Skies darkened as he fell from them, and landed in the plaza center, a rippling shockwave of death spreading out from around him before he stood straight, his armor shining black as his swords hummed with pure Draconian Lightning, allowing them to cut through anything like butter.

Before anyone could react, Draco moved with the speed of a thunderclap, slamming through his own Legion while draining electricity and other lightning-like powers around him into his blades while charging into the Guardsmen and their tanks. He was an unstoppable Juggernaut, projectiles bounced off of his armor and skin alike, the scales apparent as they rippled, blacker than night. His swords cut through anything in their path and his weight alone could crush buildings and vehicles like mere ants. His momentum kept him going, an expert with over three million years of fighting experience. Each soul he cut down immediately fell into their own shadow, and was conscripted into the Legion.

The Legion itself, vanished without a trace, and only orbs of pure Shadow remained, littered across the battlefield hovering just out of reach of all around them. Rounds passed through them, none could touch them, and there was nothing to psychic-ly mess with. Only more powerful magic could effect them. And with Draco's age, there wasn't much that would overpower him.

The Captain was surprised by the dragons strength before he was flung back into his body, followed by the dragon itself returning back to the material world and cutting swath through the Guardsman lines. As the captain looked at the dragon causing mayem into the guardsman lines, he cast the Might of the Ancients increasing his strength to unimaginable levels, he then cast Quickening on himself to gain precognitive powers.

After he was prepared, he used the Gate Of Infinity and passed through the warp and right in the rampaging wrath of the dragon with his force staff in hand before he charged right back at him with blinding speed as well.

For the remaining marines and Guardsman, they began to evacuate the wounded and civilians letting the captain to do what he needed to do. None of them would ever match the captains ability, and getting in the way would add to the dead.

Draco halted as the Captain appeared before him, and laughed as he swung a sword back, touching one of the many floating orbs, and vanishing into it, before from each of the orbs around the battlefield, Draco appeared. In total there were over a hundred Dracos all with the same power as the first, rampaging around, slicing and smashing through whatever was in his path, but purposely ignoring and avoiding the Captain. While Draco could certainly hold his own against the righteous warrior, he simply did not want to do so at this time. He wanted to harvest as many souls as he could before the Captain could get him alone.

Storm clouds began to brew overhead, and they would only feed his power as the battle went on, the many Draco-clones assaulting soldier, marine, tank, and civilian alike without mercy or hesitation, and warping away at the mere sight of the Captain within fifteen meters of the Draconian's body.

At the center of the Plaza, the four Shadowlings of the Legion stand with their arms outstretched, chanting in Draconian to open a portal to the Abyss, that way the entirety of the Legion could burst forth. They worked fast, and they worked quietly.

Of course, a ploy to harvest souls...a coward that preyed upon the weak and retreated from the strong...with that he growled in annoyance. "Dorn give me strength...To protect the souls of my battle brothers under the Emperors will...I will never falter!" The captain called out as he channeled Dorns noble spirit, one of the space marine primarchs into his body and cast Noble Praetorian he then took a quick breath and cast Ultimate Sacrifice. He was a blur, no matter how fast the Clone Draco's would attack he appeared in front of each one of them and thanks to his power and the Quickening he was able to deflect and parry the blows. It was as if fate was denying the others deaths and was forcing everything upon the captain.

He simply remained silent as he continued to take the blows for all of his allies, even if he took a few hits in the process. No otehr soldier died, no tank was damaged, and every hit directed at him was fueling his fury. In the skies the ships would notice what was happening in the center of the plaza. "All artillery batteries! Fire on coordinates A-141, F515! Hit it with all you have!" One of the pilots coordinated with all nearby artillery teams and the city shook from the sounds of Basilisk and Manticore artillery pieces launching everything at the center.

The Portal exploded into darkness and the Shadowlings vanished into the darkness which then covered the entire plaza. Draco was gone, too, all of him. Lost within the Darkness as his snickering voice echoed out in the minds of the Marines and Guardsmen and Civilians. His cackle grew louder and then faded. He was moving around; using the Shadow dimension as his means of transport. Sometimes his laugh was miles away, sometimes it was right next to The Captain's ear, sometimes it was from his shadow, or from the alley next to him, or from the middle of the army, or even from the ships themselves above the city. Nothing was safe from being laughed at by Draco, as morale began to fall, and insanity took its place among the weaker minded soldiers of the army that stood against Draco.

"Once again I commend you, Carnaelgaar Cysius, Captain of the Blood Ravens, most worthy opponent. Not many can match me when I have split myself like that. Even now, in the face of unyielding darkness you hold your ground and defend your subordinates....I could use more men like you in my Legion."

Again his voice was not from a single spot, but from many, moving around with each word, each syllable. The blackness that was the City Plaza shuddered as a massive heartbeat was heard within.

Bu-bump

Two massive eyes of coal opened at the very top of the blackness, and lips peeled back to reveal row upon row of pointed, serrated teeth in a deathly, Draconian smile as he stared down at the Captain. Suddenly, the entire world shuddered with another heartbeat, and then the darkness collapsed in upon itself to reveal the single man known as Draco, standing proud in his armor in a relaxed stance, a sadistic smile.

"Funny how the son of a lowly peasant could gain so much power and respect over his life, isn't it? How did you do it, I wonder?" he asked the Captain, pointing one of his swords at him with a smirk.
