Mariella shifted uncomfortably as she sat in her car, obviously nervous. Who wouldn't be? It was the Godfather of Wing City. At least, she'd describe her as much of a Godfather-like figure as Al Pacino would ever be. She turned off the radio and took a deep inhale, shutting off the car and stepping out of it, her cheeks reddening at the brisk breeze that greeted her. She grabbed her folder out of the backseat before locking the car and heading towards the house.

For such a serious woman, the outer appearance of her home was not as stuffy as she would have thought it would be. Perhaps the flowers were cameras, though, or even worse, lasers that would just as soon shoot you as blind you. She chuckled at the idea, reaching the door and raising the knocker twice. She'd done this a million times before, she had nothing to worry about.

Mariella twisted the knob of the door and pushed it open, stepping inside and taking a deep inhale of the smell of fresh food. She had said to bring an empty stomach, but Mari wasn't expecting much more than some sort of generic tea-time business snacks. She closed the door behind her and looked down at the floor, a welcome mat. Neat. She wiped her feet, even before it was said, she hated walking on crumbs of any sort in the first place. It was an awkward feeling. She cleared her throat and smiled, not exactly sure where Drulovic was, "Good evening, Director Drulovic."

She looked about the hall, mildly glancing over the pictures that lined the stairs, particularly squinting to see the more gruesome of the bunch, moving away in the direction of the kitchen. She could study photos later. "May I ask with that lovely smell is?" She asked, standing in the doorway of the kitchen.

Vague. Vague is better than nothing, isn't it Mari? She thought, a slight smile on her face. She listened to the explanation with strange intensity, Mari had the habit of treating everything as if it were going to be on an all-inclusive test of her life, at some point. She wouldn't mind eating whatever smelled that good on he rown terms anyhow, always fun to try something new. "It smells absoultely delicious." Smells are sometimes deceiving...

She moved into the dining room and took a seat at once end of the table, setting her folder on the table briefly, writing down the name of the dish and a little not to herself on a spare sheet of paper. She moved the folder off onto the floor beneath the chair, to keep it out of the way. She folded her hands in her lap, her feet lightly tapping beneath the table. She had control over most of her habits, but along with the fact that she chose to wore a skirt and heels today, her general nervousness was apparent.

"That's very handy, I'd think. I don't have much of a green thumb." Or any sort of colored digits, for that matter. Mari loved working, that was about all she did. Every once in a while, though, she'd sit back and watch a few movies. Al Pacino, Matt Damon, didn't matter. Just something to take the edge off the stress of having to deal with people who had it out for other people all day. It was fun, still, but it had its dry moments. She smiled back at Drulovic, "Thank You, Director Drulovic. I try." Especially today. She added, mentally, of course. She hardly ever wore skirts.

Mariella refrained from offering help, although she was just cringing at the though tof either of the bowls falling over. She said a word of thanks to Drulovic as she set the bowl down, bowing her head in silence as the Director said what Mari assume to be a prayer. She said her own in her head, it would've been disrespectful to re-bless what had already been blessed, as her mother would've told her. "Amen."
She cleared her throat and straightened out her utensils alongside her bowl, spreading the napkin in her lap before grabbing the spoon and taking a rather meager bite of the Duvec. She had to lean down to keep from dripping it all over the place, but it was delicious nonetheless.

She smiled, raising her napkin to wipe her mouth. "Mm, yes. It is very flavorful, I do quite like it." Mariella took another bite, swallowing before looking up at Drulovic again. In all honesty, she'd thought this a ploy to get her guard down. Food was pleasureful, everyone knew that, and pleasure often distracted one from remaining objective. Or at least focused on the reason one is doing something, like an interview. But the again, it was good. And it was food. And it was nice. She needn't think of it further than that, for now. "I would agree with you there, Director Drulović. You've certainly beat the expectations of donuts and coffee."

Mari smirked, eating another hearty spoonful of the stew. She wouldn't mind exchanging this for TV dinners. "Well, places I've worked were fueled by the things. I've come to avoid them, I've eaten so many." She continued eating in silence, staring rather intently at her bowl. Mariella moved her feet, subsequently shifting the papers under her chair, clearing her throat and wiping her mouth again. "Oh, water will be fine, thank you."

Mariella let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. She did have the habit of breathing shallower when she was nervous. "Yes, most of them. I had few bad apples, as they say, in my job experiences." Mari froze mid-movement at the sound of that statement. That one, needed a good lie to not let out too many beans. But then, lying would be stupid move in such a position. "Well... I left many on good terms, mostly moving to more beneficial places. The last, was for personal reasons."

Mariella sighed, sitting back in her seat and folding her hands ni her lap. "You could say lovers quarrel, or just a stupid move." She said the latter, always. It was funny how someone so on top of the world could come crashing down with something as simple as three, little, meaningless words. But they weren't meaningless, and that was where she messed up. She took a breath, drinking a gulp of the water, setting the glass back down and looking up at Drulovic. "Things were said, promises were made, and mistakes happend. I took a while off of work after that."

Mariella stalled momentarily, taking another bite of the stew. She raelly wasn't hungry at this point, ut the chewing let her think about what to say before saying it. She took another dfrink of water and straightened herself up, where to begin. "Well, I was working at a small bank. High class and all that. A friend of a friend offered me the job, and I had no reason to say no." She shifted in her seat, crossing her legs opposite the way they had been under the table. Rubbing her legs and burshing off ehr skirt. "That favor of course put him in a good light, and when... advances were made, I had no reason to think negatively of it." She looked up at Drulovic, pausing and taking another drink of water before going on.

Mariella smiled, "Well, advances led to dates. Dates led to a secret romance. For all of.... three years." She had to count that in her head. It all went by rather quickly, she never had aenough time with him, she though. All the moments seemed like all of five minutes when you looked at them together. "I ended up getting pregnant, that last year. And, we were to run off into the sunset together, so to speak. Make a life for ourselves, our baby." She inhaled sharply, taking another drink of water, she'd grown to not cry over much, but this was just about the only exception. She cleared her throat again, "I ended up giving up the job, I then found that he had no intentions of leaving with me. He was married, actually. After three months, I had a miscarriage. I suppose I was... lucky, if you could call it that. I couldn't deal with work for a long while, after that."

Mariella nodded, "I've reconciled it, for the most part. Things like this do happen to everyone, some way or another. No reason mourning over it. Although I do sometimes wish I'd had the baby." She'd rather believe that she didn't know what love was, than to think it was something that could end on such a sharp note. And that baby would've been a bittersweet experience, one she wished she could have. Marielle shifted in her seat, looking at her wrist watch in an innocuous manner before looking back up at Drulovic. "But, that is why I left. Personal issues."

Mariella smiled, musing over her choices. "Everyone dreams of being the cool agent. Some people just don't have the guts to do it." It was always that way when she was a kid. The Doctors, Princesses, and the Cowboys. She was the agent. "I'd like to think of it as a challenge, step up from what I'm used to. Same gig, different difficulty setting."

"There aren't many things that I do... that could be considered challenges." Sitting on your butt eating metaphorical bonbons and watching movies was quite simple, once you got used to be so lazy all the time. She chuckled, running her hands over her skirt again, "I've one friend. Adonis. He's really the only person I speak to. We've known each other since college, actually. He moved here shortly after I did." That was raelly the only person who knew her, besides maybe the mailman or a grocer or two. Mari wasn't very socially adept, she could count the people who knew her by name on her fingers.

Mariella had been here for nearly two, Adonis less than a few months, if that. He was always trying to get her out into the Bar and wherever else he liked to hang out. Most she'd done was walk with him a few places, quiet, away from the whole oddness that was Wing City. She looked back up at Drulovic, "Uh, good friend? Yes. He's.... different. From most. We take care of each other." He was family, to her. The only family she had at this point. "Sometimes the greater plan works to our advantages. Adonis, he is one of those advantages."

Mariella nodded, "Yes, I am." She knew that just as well as anybody. Addy had been there through a lot, and he'd gone through a lot himself. She wasn't one to keep friends, but she kept her 'duckling' status with him. Only friendship she'd maintained for such a long time. She heard the phone and glared at it, she hated the ringing noises phoens made. That is why she only had a cellphone, two in fact. Both were always on vibrate. "That, was a lovely meal, by the way. Thank you."

Mariella cleared her throat, glancing at the wall. "Yes, they were... interesting. I honestly didn't take you for, someone with a furnished house, I suppose." Not in the least, she seemed like she'd be a rather cold woman, from all the news and things. Cold and bitter. "I've, obviously, been proven wrong. Can't believe everything that's in the paper I guess."

Mariella scarcely kept from snorting, tabloids, were the liars. Journalism had gone to hell after everyone realized people were dull enough to hang on their every word, blatant lies or not. She cleared her throat, "I think it looks decent now, better than nothing." Her house looked worse than this. Quite under-kempt. She nodded, reaching under her chair to grab her folder, "Ah, I wasn't quite pondering that, but I did bring things I thought you'd like to see." She handed the manilla folder to Drulovic over the table.

Eh. That was about all Mariella had to say about her application iteself, at that point. Of course she didn't actually say that out loud, because that would be totally stupid. "I think it is decent. I took a lot of time on it and did my best, tried to do better than that. I'm content with it." What she was avoiding saying was it was the most tedious thing she'd ever done in her life, and took many a-night of frustrating revising and editing, making sure everything looked as close to perfect as possible. "As for me, I'd think I am a good applicant. I work hard and do my best, even if I don't feel like doing it. That's all I could ever do, really."

Mariella drew her finger over the fabric of er skirt, staring back at Drulovic even though she wanted so badly to look away. She wouldn't kill him, obviuosly, that would blow up the city. He's not going to hurt her, why hurt him? If he's reasonable enough to not threaten her, then she shouldn't be a threat to him. He would be reasonable enough to listen to reason, yes? She could use his reasoning against him, get in his head and re-wire him to her advantage, so to speak. "Talk him out of it."

Mariella quirked her brow, fanatic? "He can't be a complete fanatic, as you say, if he has the decency to trust me even though I'd have every want to harm him. Although maybe he's doing that because he knows I would, sense that'd just end everything sooner." That was a possibility, he was playing with her. "Pretty words, aren't my thing anyway. You can get through to people with very blunt words, especially if you know a little about them. You canmake their life a mad libs that falls perfectly into place, they fill in the rest. I could easily persuade him to diffuse it, if I knew enough little bits to get in his head."

Cry. Say it. You know you would. You'de either cry or beat the crap out of him in anger. You'd probably cry, Mari. She inhaled sharply, exhaling slowly to calm herself. She wouldn't cry, would she? "Honestly? I don't know. I could break down, yeah. I'm not one for crying though. I could aht emyself and blame myself for it, but that's not gonna help anything. Best I could do is get him safe. If the guy tried to off himself, I'd stop him. Hold him until something else could be done." Good plan, wasn't it? At least apprehend the man. Don't let him get off easy.

Mariella drummed her fingers against her leg, watching Drulovic. She was an odd woman, not as coldhearted as Mari would have thought, but odd nonetheless. Everyone was, though, in some form or fashion. She pulled her folder into her lap, eyeing Drulovic curiously. She'd ask what was going on inside her head, but that wasn't her place, and she wasn't sure she really wanted to know. She shifted, crossing her legs in the opposite direction, and waited for her to say something.

Mariella smiled, despite the fact that Drulovic wasn't, "Thank you, Director Drulovic. I quite enjoyed it." She pushed back from the table and stood, setting her napkin on the table in her place, grabbing her folder and holding it at her side. "I did not have any, but thank you." She wavered, she could've stayed and spoken more. But there was no need, for now. She smiled again before excusing herself, and heading for the door.

Elevators were so awkward, especially when you were squished in with a family who looked as if they'd been crying, and a happy-go-lucky person on the phone. Mariella Lopez was dying to get off of the contraption, when the doors finally opened on the fifth floor. She excused herself quietly before stepping off and heading down the hall. She realized she was on the right floor when she saw the two officers, she stopped where she was and fished her ID out of her bag, showing it to them once she got to the door.
