It was Autumn the last time these walls saw the likes of him, though several had since passed. Nothing truly changes, he thought as crimson eyes, glowing dimly beneath the cowl of his hood, peered about the once-familiar establishment. He was tall, for a drow at least, standing just over six feet in height. Clad in a finely cut, midnight blue cloak, he moved toward the hearth on footfalls so soft that naught could be heard of his passing.

Choosing a table to the side of the great fireplace, he sat with his back toward the wall out of old habit, where he could watch both entrances and the stairs.

Maxine had only just arrived in Wing City. Though she was hungry, she was more thirsty. Her travels had taken a toll on her, and she had taken on certain tendencies of an alcoholic. Gambit's reputation for great drink had made itself known upon entering the city limits.

She stepped up into the bar, and adjusted her eyes to the lighting. Her senses immediately went haywire due to the diversity of the crowd. She ignored them, and drew her attention to the fireplace. 'Ah, heat.' Her jacket had been torn in the Cursed Wood, her story would be that a tree reached out and grabbed it, and she was going to stick to it. A hunter such as herself couldn't bare any kind of weakness in this area, that much she knew.

Her hair covered her face as she closed the distance to the fireplace. Though she didn't directly look at the man sitting closest, she could sense his aura, it wasn't friendly. She wasn't worried, there had to be some kind of common brotherhood in a bar, hopefully. Standing in her tank top and jeans, she rubbed her hands before the dancing flames, ignoring the fact that her boots were covered in mud, and she had trekked it all over the floor.

Alert to the fact that the woman was moving in his direction, he casually shrugged his cloak from his left shoulder as he began to remove his black leather riding gloves, revealing the scabbard and hilt of a long sword at his hip. Crimson eyes followed her approach, drifting from a cursory examination of her facial expression to the torn jacket, then to her muddy boots. He traced her prints back to the door with his eyes as a slight smile appeared on ebon lips, before they returned to her face once more.

"It's cold," he offered, a simple statement left open for her to answer as she would.

"Hm?" Maxine over from the fire at the red eyed man who had removed his cloak, "Oh. Yeah, it is. Heh," She smiled and shrugged her shoulders, "I'm always unprepared these days," She looked down at her attire, and noticed the puddle of wet mud rolling from her boots, and turned to see it showed her entire trail, "Messy too..." She reached out a hand and muttered something too low to be heard, as little white specks danced from her hand and sprawled across the floor absorbing the dirt, and leaving the floor as clean as it had been before, or hadn't.

She looked back up to the stranger, "My uh, transportation broke down back in the woods." She offered another crooked smile.

The dark elf watched the spell do its work, a silvery white brow raised slightly in interest. He placed his gloves on top of one another before him and folded his hands together.

"Quite a useful trick for keeping ones trail hidden."

He leaned back in his chair slightly, taking her in all over again in a new light.

"Still have a ways to go?" he asked. "Or would you care to have a seat?"

Maxine looked around the place. Drinking alone always made for a rough morning. She shrugged her shoulders, "Sure. Makes sense to sit by the fire, instead of stand, and draw all kinds of attention."

Sitting in the chair opposite the man, she looked around, and then spoke to him in a whisper, "By the look of most of them, I don't want their attention anyways." Then for the first time she glanced at him, questioning whether she wanted his attention. "Oh, hell, I'm sorry. You must think I'm rude as shit." She extended her right hand across the table, "The name's Maxine, Max for short. Nice to meet you."

Upon her closer inspection, she would find that the hair visible beneath his hood is silvery white, bound in fine braids that frame his ebon features. His eyes wide and narrow, they seem to miss nothing. The corner of his mouth seems perpetually frozen in a half-smirk, hinting at a sort of prideful arrogance. His clothes, half visible beneath his cloak, are finely made, black silks where appropriate, yet various plates of a dull black metal adorn multiple sections of his body. The sword at his left hip is a katana, exquisitely crafted, yet the hilt is unadorned. Judging by the shape of the cloak covering the right side of his body, he wears its twin at his right hip. All in all, he's not an unattractive specimen of drow, though his demeanor and the way he carries himself belies a more sinister, perhaps even roguish, nature.

"Soloran," he replies in his whispery voice, leaning forward to take her hand, though not to shake as he would a man's. His slender fingers wrap around hers and he inclines his head slightly. "The pleasure is mine."

Upon releasing her hand, he leans back once more and looks away for a moment to signal a server over to take an order.

Max took in the appearance for the first time of the man that she sat with. His face told that he knew something she didn't. Naturally, that unnerved the witch. Instantly, she became aware of what a mess her appearance was. After grasping his hand as nonchalantly as possible, she dove it straight to her hair, trying to straighten the long mess. The white highlights in her black hair all settled upon being straightened nicely down her back. Her blue eyes would match the blue pendant that sat upon her neck, flickering the reflection from the fire that she still faced. Her clothes were never wet, but damp from the wood. She could feel the moisture lifting. She could have probably manipulated the water out of her clothes herself, but she had learned that the effect left her garments less than appropriate when done magically.

The waiter interrupted her self analysis, and she ordered a brandy. She pulled a piece of paper currency from her jean pocket, and placed it upon the table, "First round's on me." She cocked her head, and offered a smile that had gotten her in trouble many times before.

Signaling for "two" to the waiter, then dismissing him, he looked back to Maxine as she spoke and matched her smile with a devilish one of his own.

"If you insist," he replied, then, "So what brings you to this glorious cesspool of an inn?"

The drow placed his hands on his lap before him and meeting her eyes with his own. He was otherwise still, somewhat blending in with the shadows behind him. It appeared to be no accident that he chose this particular chair, the shadows were even deeper than in the corners of the room where he sat, adjacent to the hearth.

Max smacked her lips, mostly at the thought of her brandy, but also at the reason why she was here. "Hm. You know, honestly? I'm not sure." She folded her hands, and tilted her head. "Rumor had it that my mother dearest came this way, looking for freedom."

The server sat two glasses down before them atop napkins, and took the money, "Keep the change." Max said. She wrapped her slender fingers around the round glass, and swirled the ice. "Did we ask for rocks?" She furrowed her brow. Shrugging, and took half the drink at one time, then exhaled heavily as if she was blowing out smoke. "I suppose I came to see if she found it."

The dark elf lifted his own glass, smelling at its contents first, before taking a small sip of the dark, potent liquor.

"Freedom," he chuckled quietly for a moment, letting a small silence fill the space between them. "Freedom from what?" he asked, raising a brow in question.

Maxine's blue eyes took on a darker hue, "Me." Was all she said before finishing off the glass. The liquor was taking its' toll. Sure she was a supernatural, but everyone had their poison. Alcohol was hers. It took away her filter, from mind to mouth. "You see, she's responsible for my fathers' death, in my opinion anyways. Not only did she turn a blind eye to his murderer, she also forgot to tell me of my blood tie to the very vampire who killed him. So..." She shrugged her shoulders, "Long story short, I've vowed revenge for both myself and my father." She arched a brow, and signaled for a server.

Vampires, he thought to himself. It had been some ages since he had dealings with those sort. He had thought them driven back underground after the Guild Wars years ago. Well, this was another land untouched by the conflicts of old that he had taken part in.

"Everyone's past seems to catch up to them sooner or later," he answered cryptically, then drained his drink while the waiter approached. "Another?" he asked, setting his empty glass back on the table.

"Absolutely." She scrunched up her face, and continued the conversation, "What kind of past is yours that's going to catch up, might I ask?" He seemed mysterious. Maxine wasn't mysterious at all, as far as she was concerned, she had nothing to hide. She wasn't the most powerful, but she could fend for herself. So, she was never too worried about keeping things hidden.

A silvery white brow inclined slightly at her question, though he answered, "There was a time where, had you known my name, you wouldn't have decided to share this table and this drink."

"Two of the same," he said to the waiter, "Though lose the ice. Brandy is much better warm."

He turned back to her with a disarming smile, "Are you one of these vampires?" To the point.

"Geeze," Max complained after the server dispatched, "You'd think a bartender would know this shit."

She mused his response, "There was a time where I wouldn't share a table with anyone, let alone a dark and mysterious... what did you say you were again?" She knew he hadn't, but she was no fool, alcohol or not. She sensed his aura upon first approaching, considering her occupation, she made it her business to recognize magic when it was around.

"Am I a vampire?" She pointed to herself. "Technically, no. I do, however, have vampiric blood running through these veins, unfortunately. Thanks to mother dearest. I'm an abomination to my own race, considering. It has its' advantages though." She had grown to make light of the situation, considering how devastating it had been upon finding out. "Eternally young." She fluffed her hair, "I could make millions selling this shit to the humans if I was greedy enough." Referring to her own blood.

"We call ourselves Illythirii, though those of you who have spent your lives under the stars," he swept an ebon-skinned hand around to indicate the majority present in the bar, "would call us Dark Elves, or Drow." He would ask how she'd never chanced upon one in her travels, but drow were very good at not being seen when they didn't want to be.

"You and I may have a bit in common then, Maxine," said as he folded his hands together again, waiting for his drink to arrive to occupy them once again. "I had a bit of that vampire curse several years ago. Luckily enough, I found a way to undo it, though it did leave me with some special gifts I'd rather not part with."

"Ironic. While you found a way, I wasn't even told of the way until the time had passed. Apparently there's a time limit in the doing and undoing of this particular magic. Ugh..." She waved her hand, as the drinks were brought to the table. "Family drama. Tell me, do you have family?" She knew enough of Drows to know they mostly stayed with their own kind, or own their own period. She had spent most of her time around those she was meant to hunt, until the recent years when she became part of the hunted. Her social skills revolved around vampires, humans, and witches. She had never been in such a diverse place like Wing City before. Go figure her first encounter would be with a dark elf. The darkness seemed to like her.

"I did, once." He paused as the waiter brought their fresh drinks, and lifted his own before continuing. "I am the last of my House. In Menzoberranzan, the City of Spiders, the noble Houses vie for power, and the strongest rule." He sipped from his glass. "I was a youth when my brother, sister and I were forced to flee. We left the Underdark behind and came to the World Above."

Rolling the liquid about in the glass, he continued, "My brother and sister were killed shortly after arriving. We drow have a bad reputation," he chuckled softly, "though not altogether undeserved."

"My family became the guilds that I joined, those that would make use of a murdering drow, anyway. But now all of them are gone as well." Summarizing the story of the best parts of his life in a few short sentences was a queer act for this particular drow. Usually he was confident and boastful. His eyes glanced to the pair of rings on his fingers, both a dull black metal with an onyx inset, though a different silver rune could be seen on each. The markings of his guilds.

Éclaires eyes continued to wander around Gambit's Bar. It was mostly habit for the young Aschen woman, extensive Military training always seemed to keep their heads on a proverbial swivel.

It wasn't until Claire's brown eyed gaze fell on Soloran and Maxine, but especially Soloran that they stopped. Perhaps it seemed she was staring, watching him.

"You look like something...." She said quietly to herself, trailing off as the Waitress placed a glass of Ambrosia in front of her. She dismissed the Waitress with a pair of Aureus coins while she continued to stare.

"Xeno..." She added, mistaking the Drow for an Avaeon.

(Avaeon: A Psionic dark skinned Elven species at war with the Aschen Empire.)

Despite the fact that the dark elf was entertaining the woman in front of him, he would hardly be who he was today if he did not take note of the lingering eyes betraying ill will that he was so accustomed to. His own crimson eyes rose from his pondering of his rings to meet Éclaire's own for a brief moment. That moment stretched as he gauged her intent, evaluating her first as a threat, then he simply smirked slightly and returned to his conversation with Maxine.

His smirk seemed to beget more of a scowl from Hanley. When he gazed upon her he smirked where others would defer or avert their gaze. He didn't seem to show any signs of recognizing her outfit. of course, Hanley's was different from other Imperial uniforms, being the light blue uniform of the Imperial Defense Force, rather than the dark greys of the Imperial Navy.

Even when he went back to his conversation with Maxine, her inquisitive gaze remained fixed, as her lips met her glass. However her scowl inevitably turned to a smirk as the thought of having the Ordo Xenos having their hand at this alien.

Finally her lips parted to speak, her voice smooth, but inquisitive as ever.

"We don't see too many of your kind around these parts." She said, her thinly accented voice carrying through the air.

A man slept in a nearby booth, snoring softly with his arms crossed over his chest. An ivory hood concealed his identity but he frequently the bar and even this particular booth so often that most knew him and almost expected him to be there on a day to day basis. Normally he was how he was seen now, asleep, arms crossed, and hood hung heavy upon his brow and face to block the light from his eyes.

Maxine sat listening. She would have been more empathetic, if he situation wasn't so disgustingly different. He seemed to have cared for his family, the saddest part being that the world didn't accept his kind. Maxine's story was a bit uglier, in that her own family had betrayed her, and turned her over to monsters.

Through her random sips, she couldn't help but notice the Drow noticing someone else. She turned a eye, however subtle she tried, to find what appeared to be a rather attractive human female. She wasn't buying it, there were no regular humans around these parts, that much she had learned upon arriving.

"You're not a felon on the run, on you? I can't go to jail tonight, dude." The fact that the woman looked to be dawned in not-so-street clothes tipped Max off that she was of authority. Then the woman directed Soloran directly, and the witch took back to her drink, so as to occupy her mouth before it occupied her.

"A fugitive," he began to reply, a small grin forming on those ebon lips, "Well, that depends. I suppose I have some crimes to answer for, though who doesn't in this forsaken place? Should some 'authority' come to take me away, rest assured. I have two means of escape that have never failed me before." Saying this, he pats the hilt of his sword at his hip.

Glancing away at the sound of the miniature human-like thing standing three inches tall, he quirks a silvery white brow.

"And what can I do for you?" he asks of Celiara.
