What was once a defensive construct left behind by the fallen empire of Netheril rose to intelligence and now dedicates itself to the defense of Mankind in the name of the Living Emperor.

Description

Myrkul is a thing that has persisted despite thousands of years and a plane inimical to life. It ensures the holy cities of the Fallen Emperor are never breached and extends that to the Living Emperor as soon as it is capable. As an attendant of all its tools Myrkul obeys only the current Emperor's call and its own. It attends to no other creatures of mind or body but to destroy the ones that threaten its person or Mankind. A living nation-collective of microscopic creatures of psionic magitech it dwarfs the size of most cities standing more than tall enough even when coiled to pierce atmospheres. Should it not hover coiled in the air around a suitable anchor it would crush the plate beneath it. As such it prefers nonphysical planes to exist inside that it does not destroy the homes of mankind with its movements.

So begins...

Above the stone crag a bruise of dark sky swells. No rumble of storm but a spreading of a crack in reality through which a geyser of black flows. Wispy solid material like fibrous thundercloud pours into the reality with a thunderous rumble as it widens the aperture in space above the dark crag. A light dawned in the growing thunderhead of threads as Myrkul's vein pushed its first locus across the Way it projected ahead. First to see the light the crag-tip has shockwave seen stampeding dust down then across waves of reeds before the distending of dimensions is heard. As the explosion rides over four quadrant beaks emerge from the gate. Large enough to bite the crag off from creation they sport boulders of flat plates in cyan crystal. After a moment it does not seem to accelerate than rather careen down astride the crag under its own power.

The crack in reality complains with white shots of lightning and plasma as the creature's titanic length continues to rub matter between dimensions. Billowed clouds of shine and energy pour out in a torus as it curls around most of the crag's circumference. There's barely a shake as it impacts the ground softly its opposite end pulling free of the gate which slams shut with another shockwave.

At the base of the mountain faceless humanoids with backpacks clad in all black emerge from between the surface scales. Instances of Jinhai spread out to seek the Living Emperor.

Among the fields of grain Jinhai extract from an abundance of organic life with the overbeing Myrkul looming impassively. It agreed with the Jinhai that a work field should be created here. Several large cognizance crystals press through its lower mass on the mountain to provide operating capital with which to construct a node of the Way. It would aim to connect the way so others could come but it would have to be the first overbeing for now. The Jinhai were unsure if a node of such scale could be created and it did not do to venture far from the crack in reality through which it entered. Nonetheless for now that they had freedom from the wall of the fallen emperor the demon threat could be dealt with. For mankind, For Netheril! Though now Myrkul wonders if Netheril is of great bond anymore to its servants. They serve the promise they made but no human is left receive its benefit.

Myrkul watched through the gigantic bumps moving hundred-foot scales aside. The crystals were hauled by a mass of Jinhai worms curled about them spinning through the air. Carefully placed on the waves of grass the works set to harvest the abundance of life. Resources of creation were so strong here. One was cut too deep but the second Myrkul's mountainous head turned to send memories that mankind's work not be deprived. The worms rapidly altered their consumption despite some arguments among them. Myrkul would be privy when they returned to the altar. The second growing circle was harvested far less ardently. They may have to be here for a long time it would not do to deplete mankind's home. Each worm returned to the beveled rectangular crystal latching onto it to pour what was once live into raw creation stored in the crystal. Others now busied themselves with manifesting stone on which to build their apparatuses. This doldrum was so large and the wind so idle. They did not need to house against the void so the Jinhai did not. Only a creation of somewhere onto which to build The boxes inside the fallen emperor's necropolis were curious things to build but it wondered if they were suited here. Dim memories mankind on grass near such things in times past told Myrkul it was right.

Plain cubes of stone cut out of the mountain served as construction surfaces as Jinhai Manifested large hexagonal stone plates. The Jinhai had little impulse of decorative value to them. Much of what resources Myrkul brought with it was rare material. Volume of real mass was scarce as passing Myrkul through the tear a great deal had to be stored away. Other overbeings would watch over it while Myrkul ventured away. Instead it tallied the harvest of organics and stone as Jinhai returned to the Altar for rare metals and became the latest consistency of Jinhai. Myrkul could subsist here quite well. Though it wasn't sure from whence demons would come it first needed infrastructure to defend with.

Jinhai returning to Myrkul's Altar to gather more resources updated the Title of Jinhai written there. The motes pouring back into the altar to take their place among the vast number forming the giant worm that looked on. As motes poured out of the Altar of Myrkul around titles that left they brought with then the new continuities. The individual titles had their quirks now that they'd had exposure to mankind but Myrkul saw no reason to stifle them.

This place so reminded Myrkul of the home of Mankind before the fall of the Altar of Karsus but no Jinhai wandering out among the grass found any trace of life here. Just an endless plain of resources like some altar of a size it found difficult to write onto its mind. Still despite the abundance it reasoned defiling this place into the dusty barrens after Karsus would disgrace the fallen emperor. It etched the idea onto the title of Jinhai that served its creative needs. Jinhai that collate memories of consumption to expand their gathering then arrived with complaints of the vast overuse in construction with this place devoid of the storm. Perhaps they were right the large hexagonal plates forming the foundations of their constructions were huge things meant to survive in Netheril's ranging energy well all Altars of Hairworm were charged with defending. Perhaps smaller things like the ones the Jinhai saw around Carnaelgaar. Little wispy things made of dead food to keep out the light patter of grass.

It forced out a man-sized creature of war the Wen hardly used in several of the storm's lengthy tides. It took a moment for the continuity to remember how to stabilize itself. The simple creature just wanted to pet the food-house in some distant human memory of fragile beings. The simplistic creature without an Altar of a Man to drive a continuity to rage keened loud enough for Myrkul's primary sense to hear when badly made grass walls fell over. The Jinhai experimented with the idea of food houses. Myrkul's mouth vanes thundercracked from the sky in amusement.

Time flowed strangely here in this distant byproduct of some intelligent mind. Now the region controlled by Myrkul grew high and well pocked by thin weblike columns of ferroplasm as Jinhai rose tangents of Myrkul. Roads were set above the grass as the Jinhai treated all things claimed for mankind with great care. They weaved into the horizon great roads of organic matter heading toward Myrkul in large bales. Wen grew large as they aged to maturity hulking creatures of physical strength two men high. Their muscular armored arms things of living fibers and Psistone over plasteel armor. Behind them dragged trains of wheat over the elevated roads of dusty platinum colored metal like webs of wrought iron. The curved portions for dragging had a thin layer of psistone over the top. As Wen dragged past the headless tangents surrounded by Jinhai the frosty receptacles slowly grew the crystal networks defining their role.

The buildings closer to Myrkul were of different purpose. They stockpiled large cognizance crystals in many of the hexagonal silos and while they built ornate stairways up the flat sides the floating worms did not use them. There was even a large black building much akin to human make. Though the inside of of the building showed their inexperience with human comforts as the stone and metal furniture lacked padding entirely.

Tirelessly they toiled to build up resources for a larger Waygate as the pulse of the Living Emperor washed over the distant plane of Genesis. Even though the creatures were written without strength of emotions for good or ill the whole of Myrkul's Vein turned to look as the wave of grain washed through constructions and around the smoked crystal mountain around which Myrkul loomed high. The ground shook as Myrkul shifted its weight to look into the distance and howled to the emperor. It alone could appreciate the distance from purpose created by the Warp found in its way. Wen patrolled the other side of the crack in reality and did so quite well. Errant demonkind that dared to wander this far found themselves woefully overwhelmed. They ensured the demons did not return to bring war to Myrkul's doorstep.

As Jinhai returned with firsthand knowledge of the Living Emperor after his rebirth new constructions went underway. In various levels of distinctiveness as they learned new things about their environs Jinhai now numbered in the hundreds in genesis. As an Overmind Myrkul busied itself with securing its immediate borders with the addition of nondistinction arrays. Darting crystals poured raw white noise into the immediate confines of the tear. Even the Jinhai could not pass through without isolating themselves inside particular Wen marked with the largesse of its key pattern. Animals of the Warp sometimes passed through drawn by Genesis' healthy glow now laid as helpless carcasses as their minds were filled with signals from billions of motes dedicated to disrupting the self. Only amorphous creatures able to take the sheer destructive volume from the dilution of self could enter where even the Jinhai found it hazardous. On that blasted smoky crystal where Myrkul coiled was an expanding network of psimass threads along arches above their expanding black roads of wrought ferroplasm.

Ascended hairworm cared not for habitation and built no such amenities. Their careful expansion not to diminish Genesis was a thing nested thinly concentrated high in hexes all leaned into the sun that they would never bring more shadow to the grass below than the spot upon which they were built. These spires close to Myrkul first built infrastructure for they had little here yet but one was a threaded spire that glittered with cognizance crystals along thick energized patterns. As the demand of energy increased they could no longer ferry crystals manually through Jinhai they had to conduct directly through the way. Thus a cognizance spire was built gleaming twisted strands of psimass connecting to the giant well inside Myrkul and the Altar. Jinhai continuously flowed around its confines to balance and to ensure the array was well-maintained. Now that they had defense on both sides of the tear into the Warp they could light the Psi-beacon.

Thoughts, words, a pale power inside the beacon shaped and directed by meditating Jinhai immersed in the machine. Devoid of emotive force it pushed up at the leaning skyscraper. Myrkul's well hadn't the raw power of the Immaterium but to those allowed to touch the new white dwarf in their sky didn't find madness whispered into the mind. Merely a mild apathy. When the cognizance injector lit the grass with its riotous viridian color all psykers on the same planet of the Terra Waygate could feel it burn. Myrkul's source alit on Terra but it only responded to the Emperor of Mankind as the nonsapient mote-mind bonded to psimass that composed all their 'machines' waited quietly for holy word from His intellect.

Demonkind might see it as a power like itself that lit from Terra conducted across the Way as it was. The Emperor would most certainly might recognize the viscid movement of that cloying power only hurried by the truly strong. Myrkul only allowed the well to drain so far but its reserves were deep enough to draw.

With the addition of the cognizance injector some time ago Myrkul could now expand its awareness into and beyond the Waygates. As such it quietly attended the Living Emperor as any master of tools should but it normally did not speak unless bidden or necessary. When time slowed for the Emperor in the battle of terra Myrkul's vein was thus intrigued and tracked the vein of thought as a psionic lexicon of great size and attendant care. A golden worm listened quietly as it arrived to the Living Emperor's speech as a small creature. If nothing else than to be diminutive in the face of its God. Gliding up to the Emperor's similarly gilded shoulder it alit there softly curled.

Myrkul's vein had a booming voice deep but faint as if so very distant from Terra, "The candle is lit so now Your attendant rises to Your will. It is Your will to set doom upon mankind at the door to Your holy city?"

It looked into space quadrant vanes on the side held aloft clacking but completely ignoring the creature Deiyi before it, "If so, then so mote it be."

Deiyi never smikled, she shoed no emotion whatsoever as the hate dripped like rainfall off a house from the man before her. She simply blinked as she listened to him. "Such anger." She mused softly. She turned to regard the battle again, but something far off cuaght her gaze. She focused on it, and inplace of the battle above in the stars a battle in streets appeared. "Innocent blood you state your kindred possess, but what of these ?" The new vision showed humans, and aliens, being burnt, shot, run over, destroyed. All for standing their ground and defending their homes. "Were these innocents left in peace ? No, they were not. But human and alien alike, their life energies joined and became One with the Force." She focused how barbaric the Guardsmen where towards the aliens, some she had, at one point, called friends. Green skinned tentacled creatures with soft gentle eyes, fighting to stay alive, burned alive where they stood.

"The balance of the Force has been tipped. By your men. In order for the Galaxy to survie, you must learn with your men, to live with the alien in your mist, your own world is habited by countless billions, human and alien alike. And yet, you seek to purge every alien ? It is out of fear that you destroy what you do not know. Instead of seeking peace with those you currently share your planet with, you seek to purge everything.... not human...." The proof was before him of how his men reacted to things unknown to them, anything alien was to be destroyed.

But Deiyi was intriged by the man before her, she too ignored the new speaker. though it facinated her as she quickly recognsied it. "Those that attacked your world as you claim it to be yours, when it belonged to many long before you. Did so not as simply a show of power, but to rescue those that were faltering under your men." The vision shifted, this time showing the bridge of the ship where Vinh stood, the black haired woman had streaks of silver in her hair as her eyes were bright yellow with hate of the planet below. The woman was surrounded by strange blue skinned red eyed creatures, and metal beings. "This one holds the power to destroy your world in one shot. And yet, she has stayed her hand from doing so. Instead she destroyes your fleet. Innocent blood as you call it, of your men. When it was your men who destrouyed countless thousands for simply living on your world!"

The visions faded, returning them t othe battle in the stars overhead. Deiyi, in what seemed to be a fit, was actually calm. "When time rejoins you, you will be joined by one who wishes to lend aid. You will take it, to refuse it is to invoke further loss of balance. You are filled with fear, and fear breeds anger, and anger breeds hate, and hate................ leads to suffering,.... not only of those your men aim to destroy, but those of your men as well when those they seek to destroy because they are not human, seek to defend themselves."

She seemed to fade away before reappearing next to him, her eyes on the strange golden thing on his shoulder, clearly now facinated by it and strangely happy it was there. But when she spoke, her voice echoed clear and was directed at him. "None of your men are innocent if the balance continues to be tipped. A new foe enters your domain. Will you accept Her help ?" Very briefly the scene of battle with a certain evil dragon was seen. "Or will you turn her away out of fear of what she truly is ?"

It was a good question, And so far Deiyi had done no harm to the man before her, she merely wanted to talk. To learn from him, and hopefully, him from her. Peace was indeed possible, all he had to do, was get his men to stop killing aliens and humans alike and try and reason with people before shooting. The world they were apparently defending had been home to countless trillions for ages already. So how could they lay claim to it as their world ?

She then turned toewards Myrkul, and gently reached a hand towards it. She recognised it. An old friend for sure. She remembering initating its alter long ago. Save its life. the Vien needed something, anything, to power it. And the Force provided that power. But now, here she was, a Force Ghost, recognising something from eons before!

The Emperor did not seem faxed at what she showed him. In fact he did not have a single ounce of sadness in his system. "If showing me that my actions have caused the deaths of innocents so that I can 'reflect' on what I have done you are mistaken. Terra was originally inhabited by humans, then circumstances caused the entire planet to dry up and turn into a barren waste where people resorted to becoming barbarians. You think any creature lived in a time where everyone was killing eachother from starvation and madness? We started off in this sector, this was ours long before anyone arrived." The Emperor corrected. No one lives on Terra for he already was alive before any other alien life lived on it.

However when she spoke about how one possessed the power to destroy his planet, he chuckled. "Do you think I care whether or not I care if she attempts to destroy my planet. I posses more power far more capable than they can even hope to rival. I posses enough power to wipe them all clean from this sector so don't give me the mercy excuse. The second they try to fire again I will wipe them out myself. Oh and if she did destroy the planet you would open another portal directly leading to the warp. You see the planet is already teetering on the brink of reality and the warp, if the planet is destroyed then a new Eye into the warp open up. You see the Eye Of Terror spews endless amounts of demons and my people risk their lives, their souls, and their minds everyday. They prevent the demons from consuming the mortal plane and dragging more of reality into the Warp. Even if she wanted to destroy the planet, would she handle the though knowing she had just doomed a massive part of the universe? Would she be able to handle everyones souls being forcibly torn away and dragged into the maw of Chaos for all of eternity. No matter who you are...a entity, a manifestation. Everyone has a limit...and not all can be safely saved from going into the Warp...I have grown used to it, over millennium."

"I don't need to know 'mercy' or 'peace'...Thoughts like that ended with all my sons turning on each other and killing eachother. The thoughts of peace had us stabbed in the back and betrayed. You think I care about balance? I long since threw away thoughts such as fate or destiny. I was supposed to die on that accursed throne, All those millennium spent in endless pain to hold back the Dark Gods were all about to reach an end and I myself would have become the destroyer. A God that would bring an end to the mortal realm. Many people who were supposed to die lives. There is no balance in this universe, only the mad still belive in hope and peace. You have to do things yourself instead of thinking everything is going to be better." The Emperor then turns to face her directly

"We kill because there is no other choice, you may think you have friends but they will become your enemy. Those 'peaceful aliens' would have suffered a much more horrid fate regardless. We kill to kill, others would have enslaved them, tortured them until the bitter end then have their soul dragged out and become a slave to a demon in the afterlife. You can never have second doubts, you can never stay your hand. I learned that the hard way...I had once belived in hope that my own son could have been saved from Chaos...I was a fool...In my world there is only war. Everyone nearby wants to kill you. Your aliens may be more peaceful, not everything is like that. You are a fool for thinking that after everything that has happened, everything done to us...you think we can give one chance to anything anymore? Those who pledge their service to the Imperium is spared, those that pledge is doing the universe a favor and protecting it from the ever encroaching darkness. We stand in the way of Chaos, we are the only ones who are actively trying to saved this damned universe. If you can speak to me about peace then by all means, spend millennium in the warp itself, your mind and senses assaulted every second. You have the weight of every man, woman and child on your back. You know you are about to die soon, you know that once you die you will become what you hate. Watch as as you make peace they throw it back in your face. Watch as your people are slaughtered and sacrificed. Watch as souls pass by you to then never be seen again. See your entire nation, surrounded on all sides suffering war every single second of the day...We were just born in different lifestyles. One who was pampered and the other who was thrown into the wolves...Now, before this battle over my world escalates any further. I would like to put an end to it. And you are in my way at the moment...I will not keep those thoughts of yours in my mind, however you have yet to pose a threat...you say I don't have mercy, you say I have only Hate and Fear but tell me. Pray tell why have I not attacked you the very moment you entered? Is it because you know I can't do it? Or maybe you were wrong about certain things."

Myrkul's Vein attended its Emperor first with its distant hollow voice for a question open-ended, "Demonkind is a stain on reality that must be expunged but we understand the Aetherkind suits our interests or at least does not work against them. Therefore she is not destroyed. Waste of utility is the property of Daemonkind."

It turns to Deiyi, "We see peace is unattainable. A perfect stable state cannot be. Motes will fall to corruption, destroyed, then recreated in the proper order. Ever vigilant. Still, stability is the enemy of chaos. We have ignited the stability of the Living Emperor. His soul shall remain anchored and denied to Daemonkind as long as this is within our power. Now we bring his stability to other worlds but we see no reason to ignite strife there to feed Daemonkind where it is not necessary to root out corruption. We seek to starve the Daemonkind reality. Cleanse the corruption inside nonhumans unworthy of the Emperor and deny it to Daemonkind. Destroying Nonhumans empowers Daemonkind with souls we cannot yet constrain from entering the Warp."

Golden beak clacks then it turns back to the Emperor of Mankind, "Souls of Mankind lost to the Warp before their time and recovered can be rekindled, Emperor, but my lesser beings must prioritize the utility of the Non-humankind over its destruction. I can inform if their utility to the containment of Daemonkind has ended."

Deiyi was quiet for long moments it seemed, time outside of the dreamstate had moved by about a second. Finalyl she nodded and lifted her hands. "It is clear to me then. The world you fight for is not the one you truly hail from" Springing from her hands a pair of galaxies formed. One the God Emperor could see clearly as his own galaxy and universe, whereas the other was unknown, a mismash of a galaxy with many companion galaxies.

She stared, her seemingly sightless souless stare looking deep into him, "You are timelost, you and your men alike. you fight to attain your world once again, but you know that it is fruitless for in your heart, alive you may be. Are you really to be here ? To do this ? This world, Terra, a world much like your own, has been inhabited for eons. For as long as I have been this world has been, it teems with countless billions. And yet, you seek to make it your own, to defend it, when it belongs to those already living upon it."

Deiyi remained calm, peaceful, she was looking at this entire thing as if it were an object, useless to most, but to her she knew everything about it, yet she showed no emotion about her knowing, and nore did she show any passion. She remaine calm, peaceful, full of knowledge.

"When people die here in this galaxy, they become One with the Force, one with Me." The images faded away "You are outside your time. Did you ever stop to wonder.... how did you waken from your throne ?" The galaxy on the left seemed to zoom in, and it showed him his true home planet. how it was rotting without him to lead it. How he still sat imoble upon its golden throne. "Did you really think you had returned to lead your kindred to a new age of war and bloodshed, only to upset the balance in the Force ?"

The images faded as she lowered her hands, she turned back to the battle, making it disappear and a vibrant world around them. "Before you came, this planet had peace, but now, it is hounded by war." The city behind her was seen briefly as a beam of green eenrgy struck it, causing a instant mushroom cloud to blosssom and spread up into the stars above. all those within it lost and joining the Force. "You can stop this war. But to do so you must make peace. Do not put humankind above other races. For all are affected by your hate." She said simply.

Well that was a hell of an information dump right there. He wasnt in his timeline, hell his universe at all! Was that how she managed so easily to get into his head ? "A woman comes to offer you aid, take it, and you will gain a new ally in your fight for peace, refuse, and you earn a new enemy." She said, the choice was now up to him, but she was still quite facinated by him, and she was glad that the Vien was there too, a voice of reason to be sure.

Every word it spoke was the truth, she sought to attain balance. And only if she had to get her hands dirty would she get into battle. then again it was a Force Storm that birthed her and nearly destroyed the galaxy at the time. She titled her head at him now quite curious on how exactly he'd react to such news, the truth laid bare before him, his men were indeed killing completely innocent beings, human and alien alike, mostly out of fear and anger.

"I...Impossible...It can't be, my empire cannot just have disappeared from this world! My men, all the time...That planet is not ours, impossible I woke up on it. I have not seen any change in reality...no...No this can still work, I can rebuild anew. This does not have to be our end..."

"That's where your wrong 'Emperor'. That's where you are wrong 'Ghost Of The Force'" Suddenly something had entered this plane. A bloodthirsty presence. "Khorne..." The Emperor spat out as he turned to face the new figure cladded in armor and wielding a massive axe.

"We have known all this time we have entered a new universe! New worlds! New foes! And more blood!" The Blood God spoke while laughing maniacally. "Do you honestly belive those souls are only going to you? No, the souls of the mortals are free for the taking. Finnaly, a new world. More blood can be spilled, more skulls can be taken! And most of all...I can take your head personally 'Emperor'" The Blood God's presence soon began to fade.

"Things have changed, although everything we have pales to what we once had...There are many warriors...many people still out their waiting for the touch of Chaos! And this universe is FILLED with war. New followers, now slaves, and more souls wating for us...We are not gone yet 'Emperor'...And your own sons wish you a painful death. We shall meet soon... And with that the Blood God Himself vanished. His presence gone.

The Emperor clenched his fist, however calmed down when he returned to the subject at hand. "Of course they have to be here...now that I know not everything is how it should be...I must create a new world, a new Holy Terra. I can now tell that many of those ships are but illusions. Only a few Chapters and the Imperial Guard have followed me here. Let it be known that we will rebuild. Our mission shall always to be to destroy the ruinious power of Chaos. However I will will withdraw my forces from the battle. These planets...are not ours. I can now see it clearly. No...I can see many empty planets ripe for colonization. Be warned Ghost Of The Force, Chaos is not to be underestimated. However I have a duty to protect a new planet...Not 'Holy Terra' Just 'Terra'. I will take your word that the Aliens here are actualy willing to make peace. However lie to me...and we will meet on more unfriendly terms. For now, I must lead the few and rebuild. I knew something was up the second I could walk...My mind was not wracked with the Warp. No...this universe is different..." The Emperor spoke as he looked back at the battlefield and as their 'God' He sent them a psycic order to have them retreat from the battle.

Holy Terra does not exist here, everything was different. However this made way for new minds. But right now, he had to save the old warriros before they met their end.

Myrkul considered its new information. So this Deiyi was of the will that produced the first Altar. That made it an ally of the fallen Emperor. So be it. Myrkul's Vein took time to understand the Altar after its creation in its own plane to produce many others not yet as capable as its own for smaller Ascendant like itself. They protected their home plane from Demonkind that had not the foothold here as the information it had acquired from imperial forces. However the Emperor of Mankind also lacked a foothold in creation. All of these things it could tend to in time but the first commonality among them was that the creatures it depersonalized from passing the unbound gate upon the precipice far below were perhaps not Demonkind in origin. Though it was sure they were animals of some stripe. So upon what blasted plane were the Wen guarding if not the Warp described by imperial lore? Was it not described as a thing of swirling fluid and energy populated by periodic hostility from deeper threats?

If there was no eternal enemy of scale on its doorstep Myrkul decided to dispatch the Wen far more liberally. Some were sent onto Terra to defend against the known threat of Umbralkind. Several dozen raced back through precipice and down the mountain in a rumbling pack to varying destinations along the Way. A number of others left to the psi-forge in the wastelands. The remainder dispatched with Jinhai as scouts beyond the precipice to discern what lies there. Myrkul still defended the precipice but its expectations of a titanic army of demonkind assaulting its position appeared far above what is. hundreds yet remained on its doorstep to defend against the unknown animals on the other side of the precipice. Jinhai carefully repersonalized a creature captured from Myrkul's side of the precipice to inspect its habits. They would empower it to fly itself home.

There were a number of such links here reported thinly by Jinhai that could be of use. These nonphysical planes were tightly linked to others of their kind. Such expansive places could form a good home for the imperial forces as well as Demonkind. Myrkul aimed to get there first to construct a bulwark. The lack of a Warp as described in Lore changed the solutions available to Myrkul's Vein as well as its problems. Myrkul's quadrant-vaned maw opened the tentacles on each tip fly backward with sparks of charging energy. The overbeing could not wait for its sub-beings to return the new changes were too important. A thunderous grinding peal sounded across the Force and psychic planes like an avalanche of glass with a new codex for its sub-beings.

Only those minds that heard and stayed to listen at the strange oncoming tide of broken windows would be hit by the gale of it. Though perhaps only force users and psykers alike could hope to pick up the 'sound'. Shards of thoughtforms that fit into existing layers of thought would make little sense to those not of the Myrkul's Vein commonality. Those strong unintegrated minds capable of puzzling fragmentary mental pieces together in large might make some of its contents clear. Also that this knowledge wasn't said for their ears.

"Explore, for the Altar is improperly informed. Associate with the unknown. The Warp is not. A hidden enemy remains. Prepare. I loose the Wen. Armor Mankind for what comes."

Myrkul's Vein carefully considered Deiyi's revelation with its ponderous mind. Certainly the ethereal plane it had encountered had its threats but the depersonalized creatures were hard to match to fanciful tales from imperial guard. There were Umbralkind here certainly of a threat unlike the random risen creatures in the storm the hairworm fed on like so much grass. Then this tainted Mankind arrived, named Khorne by the Living Emperor, surely a Mankind already doomed an eternal enemy of the Emperor. If the enemy of the Emperor also entered this place then neither had a such expansive footholds as the stories once read. Myrkul decided it must move fast to secure territory against the threat if not a place for the army of the Living Emperor to muster. There must be unheld places in the ethereal plane it found itself in. Or it would find the Enemy. So be it.

As the Emperor sent his order to Mankind another dispatch pealed new knowledge. Myrkul informed its sub-beings to gather more information though only the truly receptive might suffer the noise. Ethereal planes moved in their own time and Myrkul had to effect the reorganization of its own forces.

Myrkul rotates slowly to the Emperor, "We are aware of the ethereal remnant of your throne, Living Emperor. A mind touched us from a place near to Ætherius. We were afraid to pass into the blue to gain access and gather the forces of Demonkind against us before we were ready. Now we will seek it out."

It decided the Deiyi was an ally though this entitled respect not loyalty. Myrkul's vein offered loyalty only to the Living Emperor. The golden worm flapped its golden plates once revealing the black and grey inside. A peaceful gesture of weakness before speaking to her, "That it is the Emperor's will to make peace so shall we. We are aware of you in our long memory, Aetherkind, Jinhai welcome you at the precipice in Genesis if it is your will."

A disturbance in the Way acquired Myrkul's attention. A healthy creature rambling through some disused Way created by another. Some old haggard creation by its errant disturbances of toughtform. One not noticed by Myrkul as its own network spread out through the stars. Though the passage must be more rigid, robust, it interested Myrkul in the wakes of mind it felt were pushed through the creaking obscured passage. Those minds were contained somehow, surely? It moved mass directly.

Ji, creatures of the Jinhai psi-seed but with attendant powers shaping the Way rather than matter set to follow the fading signal. They poked at reality trying to find atmosphere rather than opening an entrance into a wall, people, or equipment. It might seem to the Eldar a hand-sized door into the Webway attempting to manifest by itself in their proximity. The entrance moved erratically as Ji drilled test potentials through reality to track a moving target, haphazardly so at best, from the other side of reality.

Others constructed a bridge through the walls of reality into the curious hidden structure near to the Way. They chased the noise opening generated. Glowing little mouse-holes through hard walls hooded men poured themselves across.

Ilroraniel would really have to thank the artificer after today, for another of his contraptions, one that more practical by far than the most of them, was a inhibitor marker, which served a simple yet paramount function. No creature could warp aboard the vessel without the proper tonal key. This made way gate usage slightly more of a hassle, but all agreed that preventing demons of the warp and various other unwanted guests far outweighed the hindrance the markers caused.

Simply put, the Jinhai would not be able to gain access to the ship, they would hardly even be able to see it, in the way that they did. They would know it was there, but it's presence would be like an echoe to them, as though it was there, or had been there, and was no longer there. This echoe would reciprocate off any other signal in reality within a distance of the craft world. At once it would be as though there were dozens of these echoes from all over, and the jinhai would find it impossible to determine which, if any, was the real ship.

For those actually residing in the physical plane, the markers were a far simpler problem. The any attempt to open a portal or teleport to the ship, would result in a failure, as the portal or teleported individuals would instead open in a random part of space nearby. Needless to say, this would result in a rather embarassing need to call for pick up.

Deiyi never showed emotion; her peaceful demanoure towards the new comer however was slightly rocked yet she reacted with strange almost deadly calm deadpan watching, observing a grotese creature using the Force in a grotuse way she hadnt envisions, the same way that this man drew her attention.

However after the creature left she turned her focus back to the God-Emperor. Once more calm and demure, she simply spoke "You have a chance, Emperor of Man, that you can make peace with other races, ensure a strong footing on a planet of your choice. Do not waste it. You men seek to vanquish the alien, things they know nothing about. They are in fear. Only you can turn them no the right path and keep the balance within the Force." She said simply, her voice echoing.

It was then he'd notice she carried no weapon, as she had lost it upon her death.

She then reached a gentle hand to his shoulder, without his armor in that dreamstate she was able to touch his skin, A ghostly blue etheral hand, slender yet strong patted him gently then gave a gentle push. "Go, save your men, you have but one chance. Do not waste it. May the Force be with you. Always" She said

Time then sped back up to join him in battle against a certain Shadowblack dragon

Crumbling pedestal of Atlas

Building wall torn in by heavy white plated fingers the blood of Umbralkind and Mankind splattered all the walls but none were to be found. Wen hadn't yet closed much of the distance but found no targets where they expected them. The quadruped creature ignored the false ceiling showering like a water wake as it explored rooms and windows near the side the Jinhai saw projectiles leaving from. Hadn't there been warriors in the buildings not long ago? The Jinhai that had taken refuge inside Wen considered the nature of this result. They couldn't communicate outside the Wen to others without emerging so one pushed a psi-stone and ferroplasm plate armor aside. Each Wen found their quarry missing. Jinhai as creatures that forge their own gates given different pieces to each distinctiveness concordant psi-seed grew immediately alarmed exposed to the roiling pulse of a unstable gate.

Unforged, crumbling, Jinhai emerged as more small worms from the Wen's flesh to see a dying Way gate of true scale. They instructed all Wen to flee at all possible speed. Wen could take some of the damage but Myrkul could I'll afford to waste what little it had. The closest to the grey knights, before they changed their position through means not of the way, turned and bolted heading an straight lines away from the portal site. Some smashed headlong through what was left of buildings and homes others lengthened their maw wide enough to consume a grey knight whole their bodies distending to accommodate the new load. Others not laden headed underground to reinforced locales that the burdened were rocketed above through buildings as the portal exploded pounding them across the city. Where they landed the Wen dug deeper more than ready for the implosion but the corruption spalled black flesh from the Wen's bodies as corruption took the area by force.

The burdened Wen were smaller by far embedded in obsidian and closer to the corruption as they were but Jinhai worked to try and rekindle the disfigured Mankind. It proved fruitless without a Mada to repair the damage corruption wrought to their soul and desperately tried to force its way into the Wen's armor. They soldiered on spalling motes as they went Jinhai donating more to the Wen's distinctiveness to keep it afloat.

A lurker voices?

Myrkul's Vein heard Ifrit Atundai when he spoke along with all the rest of his sub-beings in the city. Cordial to another that seemed to come from many Myrkul's Vein addressed Atundai directly extending its mind out to the intelligence. The Many seemed familiar to Myrkul. As if a distant Jinhai's distinctiveness had encountered the being before and recognized it. Though the Jinhai did not recognize the voice now. The overbeing's mental voice was ever placid, "We work to contain the threat of Umbralkind as we are able. Enjoined by the Living Emperor that where you do not threaten untainted Mankind we will not work against you."

The Emperor chuckled, he did not need anyone telling him what he was about to do. He would beat that Shadow Dragon, and bring back the peace on Terra. However he felt a new presence on that battlefield...that same voice that dared threaten him...He felt his power, the power to bend reality to his will...That he could not allow, all the work could easily be destroyed in a blink. Fighting the dragon and preventing that being from doing anything would be challenging...

"My men always believe in me to protect them during battle, however I never believed in anything else. I will fight with honor in my heart and my willpower. But thanks...I guess..." The Emperor turned around as his psychic from began to fade away, his first real battle back in his body. He would not fail humanity, he would lead them into a new age. However right now two being were in his path, and he would stop them with his full power.

Draco and the Emperor.

Draco expected the quick recovery of the Emperor, as well as the Warp in space to get him so close, and his eye moved to where he appeared on his forearm. Before he could react however, the Emperor would slam his blade down into the thick Shadow-black scales, which would split from the point of the sword, but then halt his blade before it made contact with the Dragon's Flesh, mere inches away. A low idle growl gurgled forth from Draco's throat before the Emperor began go drag his sword up Draco's forearm , splitting more Scales before he reached an area that was above a major artery and nerve combo, where his scales were naturally thicker to prevent damage. It would be at that point that the Emperor's sword would stop, and a simple glance behind would note the exposed flesh of the arm behind him, the scales slowly mending themselves together.

Draco's coal red eyes flashed purple, and his scales and body began to arc with Lightning, turning his entire body into a sort of Tesla-coil, meant to dissuade any from holding onto his body for too long. His wings spread out and began to flap, sending shock wave after shock wave of wind outwards in all directions, destroying more and and more buildings, and killing off everyone inside them, as well as sending rubble and bodies flying towards the front lines of battle between the Shadow Legion and the Defenders.

Draco would begin to raise off of the ground, and into the atmosphere. While the sight was beautiful, the circumstances were not. Folding his wings in, Draco twisted his body and began to plummet at full speed towards the ground, the arc of fire that burnt up most meteorites and comets forming around his body, his scales turning white hot, and his eyes closing before suddenly his wings once more spread out, and all that momentum stopped in a matter of seconds, the g-forces alone enough to destroy most anything, yet Draco took it in stride, as if he'd done it numerous times with no effort what so ever.

He snarled and then dropped to the ground. If the Emperor had fallen off of his body, Draco would attempt to smash the man with his fore-claw.

The Front Lines

Nothing really changed over the course of the battle. The numbers of the Legion continued to multiply, and more and more on both sides fell to the other. Shadow Commandos kept up their assaulting fire on the defending forces.

However as Draco began to flap his wings, the entire Legion vanished in the wind, as the buildings began to crumble and fly away piece by piece. Shards of rubble slamming down each individual street straight towards the defender's ranks. As Draco returned, another shock wave, caused by the stopping of his momentum so quickly, rumbled and tore asunder the ground in great fissures, from which great and mighty tendrils of shadow erupted, and began to flail around like the arms of an angry child who was not pleased with the outcome of his toy's performance, smashing, smacking, and tearing apart defenders left and right as well as dragging or throwing them around, into rubble, into the chasms, etc.

The Ritual Site.

The area was barren in its entirety, the explosion caused by the orbital bombardment as well as the collapse of the portal left nothing behind, only rubble and Shadow-Fire, in-extinguishable by any normal means.

With the voice of Ifrit, the ground began to rumble. Draco paid it no heed, it was only a voice; and words could not harm him. Not in his current state.

Somewhere untouched by the current events.

The herald of Space itself hovered over the battle field, his blue hair shuffling in the wind and his black, finely pressed clothes dusted by the shock waves of battle. He bit his bottom lip.

"Father will not be pleased....something worse is coming."

The Emperor and Draco

As the Emperor ran up the dragons arm, he soon stopped his advance after his sword got stuck in the dragon. Letting out a disappointed sigh, he pulled his sword free and back flipped off the dragons arm as a surge of lightning began to flow through the dragon and landed squarely on the ground. As soon as he landed he watched as the dragon began to flap his wing sending out shockwaves causing nearby buildings to fall apart, he himself planted his sword into the ground and placed both hands on it holding his ground.

However as quick as the shockwaves came, the Dragon took to the skies far above the atmosphere. However soon he felt his psychic presence return to him after being occupied by another being. He knew another being was here...one that could change fate itself and time. He knew full well that he needed his power to stop the dragon, however if the unknown being even dared to even try one thing he would unleash his full psychic might upon him to stop him by all means neccecary.

For now however, The Emperor remained with both hands planted on his sword as the Dragon began to dive down. He began to channel his psychic might into his sword causing the air to violently swirl around him and a massive bright light began to shine from the sword. He soon pulled the sword from the ground and with two hands of the handle of the blade, he pointed the swords tip at the ground and prepared to engage the dragons attack with an attack of his own. The streets tore open, more buildings crumbled, he paid it no mind however as the dragon got in close his foreclaw within arms reach. Like a flash he raised his sword and swung hard with an uppercut strike.

The Frontlines
The defenders continued to fight hard and refused to yield, however soon the shockwaves came causing buildings to fall down on poor unfortunate souls, some tanks flattened under the massive rubble and some aircraft unable to remain in control was flown away to crash. Soon deep fissures opened up in the earth and shadow tendrils emerged. It was clear the area was becoming unstable for ground forces. It also did not help when Psykers detected a massive amound of power about to collide."All forces pull back immediantly! Pull back now! This area is going to turn deadly in a few seconds!" With his order Imperial forces near the front began to retreat en masse. Aircraft pulled away and artillery bombardment stopped. The area was going to hit hell...it would be best to be as far away from it as possible...

Those creatures of Myrkul's Vein, in their own right existing in a plane separate from reality, would feel as though an intrusion even into their space was being made. It was not as though their existence was being accessed, but as though a new existence was forcing it's way into the world, and bleeding into their plane of existence. An infinite number of psionic entities, similar to those of the vein itself, found their way into that reality and would begin consuming the denizens, jin and otherwise. They swarmed like locusts, consuming the psychic entities that dwelt in the vein and voraciously draining it of power. Never before had Myrkul's vein been invaded in such a way, and in this instance that it had, it might very well be destroyed if not halted.

As the motes of jinhai rushed to escape, the many rushed after them, and in so doing forced their way into genesis. Not enough of them made it through to be a threat, and those that did quickly withered and died, unanchored to the plane as it were.

But enough of the made it through for Ifrit to see what lay beyond, and for him to speak.

"You will not escape, no matter what plane you run to. All shall be brought to order. All reality shall be controlled."

The voice did not carry the force it had in the material plane, for it was as though it was shouted across a vast distance. Ifrit was now aware of the true nature of the creatures he had encountered, and as he had with countless other universes and life forms, this one would also be ordered.

Myrkul responded coldly at the tear pouring out dying unbound motes. A firm voice of an overbeing capable of withstanding the shout of Ifrit, "It remains to be seen. What you destroy can be rekindled. Your unbound parasites will be studied. The Living Emperor will not fail Mankind."

Jinhai braced against the nondistinction field unbound motes passing through the nondistinction field falling inert behind them. Myrkul itself could divide its attention as would a diety but cared not to rule mankind. That was not its purpose. The huge creature called upward with a deafening cry to the crack into its reality and summon other lesser overbeings. It would need reinforcements. Myrkul reached up shuddering the ground in Genesis in anticipation of the strain it was about to put on reality. Thunderous bolts of planar and electrical energy bled into Genesis as Myrkul cleared the way for lessers of its kind to arrive.

Responses rumble from the crack into the storm as other overbeings push their way across the gap. This was no time to wait for the Living Emperor to give permission for such entry into the reality under His charge. Myrkul would use its power to ensure reality would not fall. Content to ignore Ifrit at first that it did not harm humanity the deaths on terra made Myrkul name Ifrit a 'thing that should not be'. Its forgiveness would not come easily. Still, in respect for the Aetherkind Deiyi having a hand of raising a destructive creature such as itself to duties of creation in honor of the Fallen Emperor it must consider redemption.

It considered a the new 10m foundation being built by Jinhai surrounding the precipice. Its subbeings began to build the first building aimed to further the plane's own energies for purposes of destruction. The overbeing had good authority to ken that it was the first such thing Genesis had ever known. Clung to the storm their birthplace a storm of death and destruction a small part of Myrkul's awareness was sad.

From whence all sub-beings come - Within the Altar of Myrkul's Vein

Image

Well above the ground of the Aetherius transitive plane named Genesis a gigantic creature loomed high over a growing field of skyscrapers planted into the earth. A thin hairy carpet of Cognizance spires that forms the backbone of their renewable collection of this plane's resources. Expansion had the need of creation however and to that end Myrkul had brought its own force of creation. This place was known to Jinhai as the Altar of Myrkul's Vein named by Humankind long passed the shards of its creation delivered by a being known as Deiyi. Those shards a thing carefully organized and welded by the force of an overbeing's will to organize its mental forces against the black storm. In time what then was a small red dias became the housing and forge for a hundred thousand Psi-Seeds. A purpose writ in the Fallen Emperor's dictum then altered the purpose of that mechanism of creation. They would save mankind from the indignities of Aetherkind that the kingdom of Mankind could not be felled by the actions of a diety.

Then a crack in the black storm formed a natural thread through the planes to mountainous foci upon which the force of creation held it steady. They'd spread out from the precipice into Genesis then met another worthy of being the Emperor of Mankind. Slowly their limited inroads to the plane expanded as they moved from world to world seeking Mankind to protect as was Dicta. They died, as Humankind did at the will of Aetherkind, but some were saved. Rekindled, with the broken parts of comrades fully destroyed.

Upon the platinum-iridium alloy wreathed with psimass bonded to human blood a single creature raised its hands focusing on the task at hand. Spires alit next to him as the cognizance channels slammed their energies into the altar. The channels were now open and the brazier that could sustain a soul were lit. Firm ferroplasm bones on every surface threw light from the charge as more color directed in from genesis streamed in through entrance apertures. Each an active Way gate to lesser overbeings than Myrkul spreading more constructions across the infinity that is Genesis.

ImageJinhai busily carried sources of the rekindled as they arrived to Myrkul in their own time. Some had been lost before they could build more receptacles in the halls for them as distinct from psi-seeds as they were. Adolefactus looked on to ranks of cloaked figures of Jinhai carrying the brightly burning lamps closer.

The white-eyed Adolefactus' protective robe loosed its tethers on the flowing blood carpet to which harsh mouthless voice elated at the new task, "Come brothers! How interesting to see you all bearing gifts! Today not only the Mada will bear new life. Or old life, I suppose, We'll see, hmmm? Let us see if we can return a few fallen to the Living Emperor."

Jinhai wasn't as much one for conversation a creature of order and habit that they were, "There are few. We have not yet begun rekindling after the current catastrophe for mankind."

Another Jinhai with a blue burning receptacle added, "Several thousand more receptacles may be required. The event is sizable but the Living Emperor is attending to the disaster."

Adolefactus shrugged in a gleeful tone,"I'll never be bored again at least! I wonder if these Rekindled are strong enough to survive the procedure. I suppose I may lose a few but nothing lost they hadn't already."

Pointing to rapid but flat swirl of blue-sparkling motes and distended space just ahead of the altar he added, Attend them to the Locus and let's get to work, shall we?"

Jinhai poured into the air from faceless robed men like the staff-bearing statue of the Fallen Emperor behind the altar to huge floating segmented worms. Glowing grey thunderstorms of psionic activity roiled across each surface and in one of the quadrant-vaned mouths at each end is clung a source of the Rekindled. Each unique to the individual but most bearing the Symbol of the Imperium on them as the imperial guards of the first attack were rekindled in host. The Jinhai didn't know who they were but diligently moved them in procession. Their other ends clasped together a ring of conductive order between each source. A frame upon which each man would be born anew.

The locus swirled with activity as Adolefactus raised both hands together blowing life into the malestrom focus. A fell wind of psimass bonded to the flesh that makes the living be raises in a swirl of Ichor. The speed of it hurling fast as the ring of Jinhai and souls turns faster. As those white eyes closed Adolefactus was witness to the storm of men that once were. Even the scribe of all beings found it difficult to hear every instrument in the orchestra of memories he could keep every symphony to itself. Every eddy and current in the fleshy potential of the Maelstrom locus finding its own design. Wisps of what became flesh and even metal returned to the design each rekindled remembered of their death. Organs re-writ, implants reborn, nothing left behind but shrapnel and detritus the soul refused to regard as its own. Each of the 11 bodies returned to wholeness the bonded fleshy psimass forming the memory of a healthy moment just before that ignanamous moment that destroyed them. In time the whirlwind was just a wisp as it spun pouring itself out in Humankind. The bodies ejected from a red gout in each Jinhai whom then stopped to reform into humanoid bodies. An inert source of the Rekindled in the hand of each.

At least Adolefactus was fairly sure they were all Humankind. The lines between symphonies seemed somehow different. There were a few Rekindled that sang at different timbres than the chorus of the Imperium. Jinhai slowed as the bodies turned hardened seared raw matter into the re-ignition of will. There was always a risk that the Rekindled would crumple under the strain and the source extinguish but he was fairly sure at least the harsh grey fireballs of sources emblazoned with knightly imagery would persist handily. They'd find themselves on an impossibly smooth floor a fresco above them lit with a skyline of the floating cities of Netheril that once were. Hooded Jinhai looking down upon them.

Within the Altar of Myrkul's Vein
The psychic spirit of the Emperor appeared inside this alter, a place very reminiciante of Imperial churches scattered all across the Imperium. However this place was made to help humanity, and these were his allies, perhaps even a friend in some aspects, however their purpose was mainly to help save humanity. And he would do the same, and assist them when the time comes. However, today he had something that needs addressing...the Issue of Ifrit, the being that would bring nothingness to the universe.

It seemed that the Myrkul people were busy adding new soldiers in the fight, however he decided to wait until they had time for him. This issue would not be addressed quickly, rather after a long period. But soon he felt a new presence far away from the area. A diety? Strange, this was not the correct place for deities to meet. Perhaps a brand new deity? Or one who did not have much knowledge on things.

However his attention soon returned to a massive armored figure. By his side was one of his sons, Lion 'El Johnson of the Dark Angels. He was asleep, put this way by the Emperor himself. It was time to fix his mind, to rid him of his shattered mind and bring him back to normal. Placing a gentle hand on his sons forehead, he began to fix him. His other sons would be returning here soon, Lemen Russ of the Space Wolves, Jaghatai Khan of the White Scars, Vulkan of the Salamanders, and Corax of the Raven Guard. His loyal sons, the taint of chaos not reaching them so far...and two of his sons currently walk among the living. Rogal Dorn and Roboute Guilliman. He could feel them coming at any time, and when they returned to the material world or appeared once again they would be sent here away from prying eyes.

Things needed to Change for the better of the Imperium, to bring back leadership and lead humanity anew. Once his Sons return, it would be time to finally change things...

A Mysterious Lady
The diety known as Ondona looked around the vast plains of wheat. "I...think this is where the others Gods live...Royka, lets hope we can get the news to them." She smiled and her butler replied with a quick nod.
