Rufus Montgomery de Lafayette

An unassuming caucasian man who may be more than he appears.

0 · 234 views · located in The Infinite Void

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Xeynar

Description

Rufus is a male caucasian standing at an average 1.7 meters (about 5 feet, 7 inches) and weighing around 78 kilograms (173 pounds). He sports sandy blonde hair parted mostly to the right, and facial hair longer than stubble but not quite a full beard (indicating that he once shaved regularly but for some reason no longer does so). His hazel green eyes, appearing to be pools of kindness, actually house a dark secret. No longer young, the man is clearly reaching his middle age, as his facial features have become a bit more wrinkled and a bit more hardened than that of a young man.

A common collared shirt, white in color, is worn under a sandy white trench coat (usually buttoned up the front). Travel worn khaki pants adorn the man's legs, and well worn hiking boots typically adorn his feet. Lastly, a dusty brown fedora (hat) is usually see on his head, to protect his eyes from the sun's burning rays.

Personality

On the surface, de Lafayette is little more than a "Good Samaritan", usually more than happy to lend a helping hand to those in need if he is able to do so. He is also a fairly devout christian, often attending Sunday sermon whenever possible.

That, however, is merely to mask the madness that once dominated him. In the past, Lafayette was a cultist, specializing in casting charms on rooms, objects, and sometimes, people. It only took the right symbols and words.

Understandably, Lafayette uses great effort to leave that shadow of his life in the past.

Equipment

Lafayette carries no "tools" or "weapons" of the natural sort.

As a matter of fact. Lafayette's only possessions (other than his hat) that remain on his person is a traditional Latin bible, and another peculiar book. This greenish black book has no printed title, and is also locked shut by a chain with what appears to be a pentagram attached.

Lafayette's other "tools" include being able to speak fluently in at least 4 languages: English, French, Latin, and the language used by druid cultists to cast charms.

History

Rufus Montgomery de Lafayette was born and raised in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, the claimed birthplace of Michel de Nostredame (popularly known as Nostradamus). Rufus was once very facinated with the supposed seer's writings, and he studied them closely. Eventually, Rufus found himself in a cult of druid wiccans. Within this occult, Rufus learned how to supposedly cast spells and charms, at first unaware of the dark secrets such an occult kept.

When Rufus discovered that the occult druids were attempting to summon demons to the mortal plane, Rufus abandoned the occult out of fear for his own soul (he was raised Christian). Before he left, he managed to steal a particular book from the occult, a book with no printed title, and was thus known generically as The Spellbook (one of only 4 in existence). The Spellbook contained many of the cult's darker spells (some spells even summoned heavenly entities), and was taken simply to prevent such abominations from being attempted.

Ever since then, Rufus lived only to redeem himself from ever having been apart of such a cult. Naturally, he goes to almost all lengths to keep this dark shadow buried in his past.
