Steph Grey

Gangster gone soldier gone mercenary. Second in command of former blackops unit JTF Echo "Dagger"

617 views · last seen in Gambit's Bar
a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Colyo

Description

Steph "Wolf" Grey is a 28 year old human male. He wears his jet black hair short and messy. Bright blue eyes are concealed within a sharp squint akin to a falcon on the hunt. His facial features are sharp edged, giving him a very expressive face that can make a hundred different grins. Predators grin, ladies' man grin, you name it.

Personality

Steph is a man hardened by war. He grew up in a crime syndicate on Earth, eventually being forced to join the military as per terms of release from prison when the family business went up in flames. Being an excellent shot and a natural born fighter, he was pushed into special operations training not long after his enlistment. After Joint Task Force Echo was sent on a suicide mission into an almost surreal laboratory chalk full of horrors and alien technology, he should have died; but the hardened warrior instead lucked out and was transported, somehow, to Terra; the dimensional twin of Earth that acted as the center for travel throughout the multiverse. Even there, his life as a warrior stayed in full swing, living as a mercenary. On the side, he ended up meeting anthromorph Kruxis which introduced him to the art of druidism. While his powers in that line are weak, he appreciates nature as an escape from city life, and his "jaunts" out to the woods to see the forest guardians are practically his only reprieve from the bustle of the city and its million prying eyes...

His is most often seen wearing his black leather jacket and blue or black jeans. His clean, black combat boots in combination with the magnums tucked in his coat give his nature away to the hawk-eyed observer.

Equipment

Steph is a gunslinger, through and through. He favors his twin Taurus Ranging Bull 22H's, .45 6 shot revolvers with 12 inch barrels. However, in serious combat, he uses the same long arms any other modern mercenary would use. He has no particular favourites as far as rifles go; his armory ranging mostly between H&K, FN and Colt. He possesses one of the few prototype XM8's that survived the discontinuation of its development.

For pre-medidated fights, he will wear his combat suit. The bottom layer is a thin but tough black flexifiber suit that covers his entire body stopping at his ankles, wrists and neck. Grey urban camo cargo pants that are well fitted go on over it, as well as a armored jacket that has no shortage of pockets for breach tools, comm gear, ammunition and varied grenades. This outfit is accompanied by his usual black combat boots and matching fingerless gloves with sharp armor plating on the back of the fingertips which makes for a deadly punch. Sometimes, he will be wearing a black or grey-urban-camo bandana when in this outfit, but he considers it a special touch only for when "shit gets real."

His druidic powers are limited to taking on some of the aspects of various animals. Increased running speed, strength, and senses are most common. Particularly the latest, his ears can hear the slightest whispers on the wind, sometimes giving him hints or premonitions about what's coming, an ability that has saved his life on multiple occasions.

History

Steph was born into a crime family to a rich mafia boss and a whore gold digger. Taking after his fathers ambition, he figured out what his father was by the age of 12, and confronted him about it one day totally catching the boss off guard. Rather than scold him, he asked Steph if he wanted to learn the family business. Intrigued by the world of crime rather than disgusted, he learned the tricks of the trade and started running easy jobs for the family at the age of 18. The goons he was set up with naturally looked down at him and babied him because of his status in the family as the "spoiled rich boy," but he quickly earned respect under fire when him and four other men were caught in an ambush while securing a cocaine deal. Steph not only secured their escape, but managed the shot that made him the top candidate for taking over the business- he hit the fuselage of the FBI helicopter that was following them with a 9mm pistol causing it to explode. His father bought him two very expensive custom magnums which he coveted and used for the following five years.

His successful crime life came to an end when the FBI finally tracked down and disassembled the crime family, his father being killed by gunshot and Steph being taken into custody. Rather than lock the boy up for life, they give him the option to join the USMC, which he accepts rather than the alternative of twenty five years in prison.

He flourished as a Marine Ranger, having left his trademark twin pistols behind in favor of more standard weapons. He quickly gained respect, as long as his history was never mentioned. He spent four years as a ranger, and was almost given command of his squadron when he was approached by the BlackOps spook Gage Birse, who offered him an interesting deal... he would be introduced into an elite BlackOps unit codenamed Dagger, where he would be loosed upon the world as both part of a team and an independent operative, doing the government's extremely dirty work... and he would very well paid.

A born fighter by heart, he of course accepted. Him and Birse became good friends after a while, and remain so to this date.

Shit hit the fan when Dagger was sent to investigate and/or destroy a secret facility that the US government believed to possess new biological weapons. What they found was not what the expected; alien technology and defenses that saw most of Dagger killed save for four members; Steph, Captain Gage Birse, Mina "Viper" Sipher and Adelaide "Snow" Fletcher. Those survivors stumbled upon a portal that flung them through the multiverse to Earth's realistic twin, Terra.

Living on as mercenaries in this strange Wing City, the four remain in close contact, ever hopeful for a way home...

So begins...
