Setting
She had a feeling she needed to be sitting down for the news.
It didn't help that he was starting to take off his shirt.
Oh my.
Wendy's cheeks flushed red and she quickly looked away. Focus on what he was saying Wendy, not on what he was doing.
"Yeah, I believe it was because of Fred. Because...most magicians don't summon birds when they sneeze." She was trying to keep her voice light but there was something about his words that worried her.
"Jack..." She didn't know what to say, should she pry or just let him talk?
"Correct.. Normal magicians can't. Hell, even above average magicians can only summon birds that already exist.. Fred did not exist before that moment and he does not exist now.." He muttered, finally pulling off his white shirt. Scars lined his back, most were fresh. He turned around to face her once again, the Celtic knot tattoo on his collar bone. "You and many others know me only as Jack the Magician. There are very few who know me by my true name or my true nature." He started off. He seemed hesitant, and his cheeks were pink at standing there shirtless in front of Wendy.
It couldn't be going where part of her mind was going. His voice was way to serious for that.
"Wait...what do you mean that Fred doesn't exist...Jack...what is going on?" Her soft voice trailed off as she looked at the shirtless man.
Wendy let out a gasp as his shirt fell, the genie quickly covered her mouth. His back...it was covered with scars, fresh scars.
Wendy jumped out of her chair, going over to him.
"Jack! What happened?" She walked behind him, a finger tracing a scar with a worried look on her face.
And then it hit her.
"Wait...Jack...what do you mean...you aren't Jack?"
"My true name is Cichol." He stated finally. "I am a god of Fomorian people." He let it sink in for a bit.
"Or rather.. Was. The Fomorian's haven't existed in quite some time.."
And then her eyes widened in surprise.
A pair of black wings had sprung from his back.
What in the world?
As if that wasn't surprising enough. His name was Cichol.
A god.
The silence stretched between the two as she tried to gather her thoughts.
Jack was a god.
The silence seemed to stretch on forever before Wendy finally spoke.
"Is that all? And hear I thought you were going to say you ate human flesh, now that would've been a deal breaker." Her voice was light, a bit strained but light.
"I should have told you before.. I'm sorry..
He bit his lip. He wasn't going to delve that information quite yet. He wasn't ready, and she definitely wasn't ready for that information. "But please.. Keep calling me Jack, alright..? That is.. If you still want to even hang around with me.."
She wanted to ask about what troubles he was in but...he didn't seem like he wanted to tell.
After all, Jack had already shared so much information to Wendy.
"So you are not a magician and your name isn't really Jack. I didn't fall for you because of your name or your magiciany ways. I fell for you because of you....And I doubt I could call you Cichol even if I wanted too. It is a bit late for my brain to be switching your name with a different one."
A smile played on Wendy's lips before she wrapped her arms around Jack, her lips pressing tightly against his, trying to reassure him that everything was alright.
When he finally pulled away from her, he leaned his head against her own and closed his eyes, somewhat relieved. "Now you know.. Why I don't want for anything. And why I wish I could find some way to free you.." He muttered softly.
And though it may not have lasted long in reality, it felt like minutes, and she enjoyed every bit of it.
Her blue eyes stared at Jack as he leaned his head against hers, a smile spreading on her face. "I don't know about you but...that felt amazing to me." She said softly, her arms wrapping around his shirtless torso.
"Jack, if I am with you...I will be happy. Don't worry about me ok? Just...well I will be by your side, always."
"I'll get dressed again, unless you wish for me to remain topless for a bit longer, m'lady." He grinned teasingly.
"And.. I will be happy as long as you are, Wendy.. Just please know that.." He whispered.
Her own cheeky smile crossed her lips as she composed herself enough to say. "Oh no, let me admire you for a bit more." If he was going to make her change a lovely shade of red than she will do the same to her. Tit for tat after all.
"Jack, as long as you aren't...like a serial rapist or something, I am going to be happy staying with you..." The genie in her wanted to add Master, but she resisted the urge. That part of her sucked anyway.
He chuckled and turned around, grabbing at his white undershirt, flashing the fresh scars towards her once again as well as the ebony wings. "Is there something you'd like to do? I went by the movie theater earlier, although the movies were quite cheesy it seemed.."
The genies cheeks paled at the sight of the scars though, they looked like...well it had to have hurt when he was injured. She suddenly found herself wrapping her arms around him from behind, holding him close.
A few moments passed before Wendy realized what she was doing, and she quickly let go. "Er sorry...just...your back..." She let out a sigh before smiling at him. "Movies can be rather cheesy...especially the romance ones. But some are good."
"I will tell you about what happened later.. I.. I can't add more right now.." He muttered, pulling on his shirt slowly.
He then coughed and changed the subject. "Aye, and they were the romance kind. You know, the ones where some guys take their dates hoping to get lucky... Not into that kind of movie honestly." He muttered, rubbing the back of his head slightly, leaving his shirt unbuttoned for a minute. It seemed his wings simply disappeared once the shirt was back on. "It's a bit late to go to the beach, but we can if you'd like."
Wendy wanted to ask more, wanted to know how Jack had received them but...but it was not her place to pry.
She slowly released her grip on the man, staring at him for a second before chuckling. "Well we have even more in common. I don't like romance movies. They seem to exist to have couples feel one another up. Not exactly my kind of film...been felt up once to many times by sleaze balls thank you very much." Her voice was light hearted, understanding that he didn't want to talk about the injuries.
"As for the beach...well it is calm...and well...if you wouldn't mind. Unless you would like to go to see a movie, I am not sure what kind you like."
He then buttoned up his shirt and put on his jacket, straightening it back out. "Would you like to change now or at the beach?"
"And of course I do, I haven't had much of a chance to wear it though." Wendy looked at Jack before replying to his question. "At the beach. Now Jack, will you be joining me? Or am I going to be swimming by myself?"
After she would answer him, he would ask soon after. "Ready to go then, m'lady?"
Wendy gently looped her arm through Jack's, a small smile on her face. She didn't know he couldn't swim. "And yes, I am ready to go, though I may need my lamp when we get there so I can get my suit out."
"I'll bring it out again when we're there. I just don't want to lose it, and this is the best way of not losing it right now." He then wrapped his arms gently around her. A breeze picked up once again and within a blink, they were gone.
