Whisper swept into the CIC of the Nighthawk as her form regained its corporeal state. Word had already reached the technicians as to her arrival, and they were preparing to jack her into the Reverence. After the Avaeon had effectively shut down a military vessel only a few weeks prior, they weren't taking any chances. It would be far more difficult for the Avaeon's to override the ship's systems with Whisper jacked in. Viruses were designed to corrupt program, and AI's. They weren't designed to contend with a human mind behind the ship's systems.

She sat down in a chair that was being wired into one of the control consoles. The Nighthawk wasn't specifically outfitted for her like the Blackbird, but they were making quick work of it.

As she sat down a technician lay the chair back.

"Are you ready?" he asked.

Whisper nodded.

As before the searing pain of the jack being jammed into the back of her neck drew a jerk and a gasp from her lips before her consciousness was seamlessly separated from her physical body. Unlike before though, her consciousness wasn't contained inside of a virtual box, but rather she had full run of the ships systems. Its weapons, its sensors, its life support systems, its comm systems, everything was at her disposal.

A woman's voice filled the CIC from the loudspeakers.

"Blackbird, online. The aliens have engaged with the Harbinger of Piety. Our FTL drives are spooling up. We'll be clear of the combat zone in five seconds. Four. Three. Two -"

As the UDW vessels engaged with the Nova Wolf, several other ships bearing Isirian IFFs blinked into the vicinity. A destroyer, two frigates, and a trio of corvettes were now drifting through the open space. Though the ships were clearly Isirian in make, many bore Aschen upgrades and modifications. Many of the Isirian ships had also been outfitted with more advanced navigation systems, upgraded weapons systems, hard light and combat shielding.

Aboard the destroyer, the Astral Comet, the CIC was a buzz of activity. The entire region had been on high alert with concerns of an imminent invasion, but many had felt it nothing more than a precaution. Few had expected a return of the aliens so soon, but they had been disillusioned to that belief upon picking up the Harbinger of Piety's signal.

The DRADIS screens were displaying several alien vessels engaged with friendlies.

"Put me through to the Harbinger of Piety," Commander Renaud ordered.

'This is Commander Renaud aboard the Astral Comet. Requesting orders.'

AHSC Harbinger of Piety
Reverence II class Supercarrier
Admiral Elisha Whitcomb

The situation continued to remain tense, as the Reverence's AI adjusted the ship's maneuvering to try and catch the Frigate as it buzzed around the massive Carrier like an angry wasp.

"Main weapons are unable to garner firing solution, UDW Ships have confirmed arrival." The AI reported, and then several screens were brought up. "Isirian vessels confirmed for arrival as well." She added, and the Admiral nodded. Alarms klaxxoning in the background as she contemplated her actions.

"Do we have weapons lock?" She asked, and the AI nodded. "Secondary Anti-Frigate batteries are keeping pace, we also have reports from the Trident's Thrust and the Miracle's Grove, they have confirmed firing solutions." The AI reported, and a Lieutenant quickly turned towards the Admiral.

"Sir! Incoming communication from the Alien Hostiles." He reported

Whitcomb nodded. "Patch it through on the speakers."

“You have two of our people aboard your vessel. You have 2 minutes to surrender them to us or we will take them from you, dead or alive. This is your only warning.”

Whitcomb pondered for a moment, contemplating her next move before a second CIC officer turned to face her. "Admiral, text message from the Nighthawk, it's from Admiral McGregor." He said, and Whitcomb nodded, bringing it up onto a holographic screen. The message simply read.

'Ignis'

It was at that instant the UDW Ships began to open fire, and Whitcomb moved to act quickly. "Open fire all primary batteries! Get us away from that damn frigate! I want all ships weapons free!" She shouted, grabbing the railing as the Reverence II kicked on it's massive engines, and then quickly banked a hard left, putting the Nova Wolf directly in the line of fire to allow the UDW to garner a batter firing solution, but should it manage to survive the hit, it would be greeted by the Trident's Thrust coming sharply about danger close to the Reverence's Hull.

"Wait for it..." Commander Chamlotte said, narrowing her eyes.

"Wait for it.." As the curved hull of the Reverence pulled away, the Nova Wolf would be in a clean line of fire perpendicular to the Trident's Thrust.

"Now!" Commander Chamlotte called out, and the Trident's Thrust loosed a massive and brilliant pink beam of light directly center mass at the Nova Wolf, the Polaron Blaster designed to rip through shields and deliver a high-energy impact against armor and hull alike. This initial attack was followed up as the Miracle's Grove tailed an Escort ship, loosing a pair of Avenger Ant-Ship missiles that were threaded on the Reverence's Wide-Spectrum arrays to guide itself towards the enemy ship as it zipped about. However, it was just as the Reverence's weapons came to life, with rotary flak cannons putting up a thick wall of fire danger close, and encapsulating the Avaeon ships in a wall of shrapnel, debris, and thermite clouds as it's Stormbringer Anti-Ship defense systems swiveled to life, with the AI's predictive algorithms, it would fire a fusillade of brilliant green disruptor bolts at the ship, and lead it in almost every possible direction it could go, with the intent to box it in with a wall of disruptor fire.

It was then Admiral Whitcomb opened a comm to the Nighthawk, to relay an order to Echo.

"Get yourself a Combat skin and report to one of the Torpedo turrets, see if you can't fire yourself out of the torpedo and get yourself aboard one of their ships." She said, relaying the risky idea to the Golem.

"And try not to get yourself killed." Whitcomb added.

Though on the Nighthawk, Raphael frowned and disconnected the comms from the Harbinger of Piety as the Nighthawk prepared to jump. His shimmering eyes on Echo.

"I've got a better idea, go speak with the prisoners, and do that thing you do so we can learn about their biology."

"Sir! UCON assets are in system!" Another Lieutenant reported, while Whitcomb nodded, and then opened up the comms.

"UDW Stalker, this is Harbinger of Piety actual, need you to swat some gnats, danger close; we can take it." She said, and then turned to the AI.

"Disengage flaks and turn on the Hard Lights, button us up for danger close enemy and friendly fire."

The AI simply nodded, and it was then the Harbinger of Piety ceased fire, and a brilliant, blue polygonal shield shimmered around it, encapsulating it in a cocoon of light. Almost akin to a second skin of armor.

Upon receiving Admiral Whitcomb's orders, the Isirian vessels moved in to join the fray.

"You heard the admiral, people! All weapons free! I want -"

"Sir, we're picking up another ship! It should reach us in three minutes."

"Is it one of ours?"

"No Sir, it doesn't appear to be. It doesn't appear to be one of theirs either. Orders, Sir?"

Commander Renaud scowled up at the DRADIS screen where the faint blip of the unknown vessel blinked at the fringes of it. It could be a trick.

"Sir?" the technician asked once more.

"Damn it, send this message through to them. 'Break off from your current course, and do not enter the combat zone. Repeat, do not enter the combat zone or you will be engaged.'

"Sent, Sir."

"Alright, let's go people. This battle isn't going to wait for us."

The scene before them started to escalate; it was going to be a skirmish. Killian was dumbfounded. Stumbling upon a combat zone wasn't on his list of intentions today, but he was just thankful that this battle wasn't transpiring at the Union's doorstep.

"Sir, incoming transmission!" the lieutenant called out.
"Send it through," Killian stated calmly.

'Break off from your current course, and do not enter the combat zone. Repeat, do not enter the combat zone or you will be engaged.'

That was that, then. Killian said no more, and retained the Ascension's distance. There was no need to answer, as the crew aboard that ship had more important matters to worry about anyhow, such as staying alive.
"Back us up, lieutenant. No need to get ourselves involved in what doesn't concern us."

The navigator acknowledged him, turning the ship and moving away from the combat zone.

Echo nodded his head. "Yes sir." he replied to Raphael, extremely thankful that his previous set of orders had been overridden. He didn't like the idea of launching himself into space, combat skin or not.

He turned then to one of the other Aschen officers, "Could you please direct me to the cell in which the prisoners are being kept?" he requested. The officer nodded her head and motioned for him to follow through the bowels of the ship down to where Dugal and Morieghan were being kept. Prior to entering the cell, he was briefed on the situation so far, and informed as to the measures in place within the chamber, the psionic inhibitors that would protect his mind and the potential for the room to be spaced.

The ambassadors may well have been surprised to find yet another wispy and fragile looking young person entering their cell alone, the door closing firmly behind him as he stepped inside. The silvery-haired golem glanced between the pair of them with an expression that spoke only of curiosity. "Greetings." he said with a gentleness that contrasted sharply with the Aschen agents, "I have been instructed that I am to examine you. There is no cause for alarm. You will not be harmed or discomforted in any way. Please, simply remain still for a moment. I will not take long."

Though he was wary of the 'aliens' as they had been referred to, though in truth most beings that Echo had encountered were alien in one way or another, he did not fear them. With the psionic inhibitors in place they could not access nor harm his mind.

“Aya, sometime today.” Greers huffed at the Nova Wolf’s core.

“I almost got his resonance locked down.” She replied with some strain in her thought patterns. The moment they jumped in the system Dugal’s signature went dark then she sensed an inconsistent variable therefore she had to scramble to find his signature again. She could have sworn it came from the Aschen PAC until it suddenly flickered like it was being obscured
“I got it!” She exclaimed. “They’re aboard a ship with stealth capabilities; we need to hit their ship with tachyons to light them up for extraction.”

The moment the coined dropped the Nova Wolf made an inverted thrust move in form of a zero-g back flip that could have snapped a strike craft in two in such extreme alacrity it conveniently dodged the first two lances of focused nuclear energy in a timely fashion by a few yards only for the one lance boxed-in for the center mass to clip its starboard side. The folded space around the Nova Wolf’s passive barriers directed it away from the hull to literally bounce the shot back to a retraced trajectory of its point of origin towards the Stalker. The UDW ship was vulnerable to its own shot within a nanosecond in the bounce back effect from the barrier. The rest of the energy was absorbed and dispersed by the metaphysical barriers including the radiation which made radiological alarms go off from the sensitivity of the damage sensory. The torpedoes that followed afterwards were either dodged completely or scattered away towards the PAC during the Nova Wolf’s radical movement pattern.

“What the hell was that?!” Tallulah braced herself on the tactical display projector board as the ship shuddered softly from the impact.

“Damage control reports focused fusion beam and tandem impact kinetic penetrator ordinance.”Breena opined. A single thought and she synced up with engineering to have adaptive sub-routines to adjust congruent countermeasures to make the next attack even less effective. It was unparalleled synergistic control of every Avaeon warship to minimize damage just by learning how the enemy is shooting from ‘feeling’ the ship and where it was shot at and how it was shot.

The Stalker merely stunned the cruiser momentarily to have it in the sights of the Harbinger of Piety’s guns.

“Vectors, full power! All ships weapons free!” Greers thought as he and the core felt the charge of the weapons through the ships’ astral sensory. He timed it perfectly with his helmsmen to dodge the deadly Polaron Blaster by a second to take full advantage of interialess vectoring to hurl his ship forward then snapped a parabolic turn to match the curvature of the Reverence II’s firing arc to avoid the weapon entirely. The Helmsmen skillfully directed the cruiser in the same practice as Greers intended to the PAC’s underbelly just when Tallulah picked up on the UDW firing danger close by retracing the trajectories and learning the “firing behavior” to use the PAC’s momentum against the UDW’s guns in a daring ship acrobatics to protect themselves from another attack. The Nova Wolf’s powerful drives popped the ship around to tail the resonance signature aboard the Nighthawk as soon as Greers took the window of opportunity he allowed his crew. The cruiser simply popped out of range, pushing its coils to new limits to catch up with the ship in time to blast it with tachyons and free particle arrays to overload its stealth field. Nanoseconds of timing and precision though neural syncs prompted a QD missile to be sent up the Nighthawk’s tail pipe to disable the engines and her drives to prevent escape. The Quantum Disassembler missile instinctively through fire control augmented the solution to a tandem metaphysical warhead on the fly simply by ‘feeling” the power outage in the shield’s physics with post-quantum optics and the material consistency of the armor. The transition was timed exactly enough to rend through the shields and armor to disable the engines and the drives without destroying the entire ship. Its hyper relativistic speeds and the lack of a “report” or origin from which it was deployed made interception a subject of improbability.

Meanwhile the Nova Wolf’s escorts, the two frigates Trykor and Moon Hawk, delegating their own tactics when the Stalker opened fired on the Nova Wolf they stopped toying with the Harbinger of Piety to engage the Stalker and to get out of her firing zones. The Trykor, under command of Commander Urshas Rone, sent her parting gift to the Harbinger of Piety right when she switched from using her point defenses to a coherent light shell. The Trykor’s battle meditation medium knew to take advantage of the chaos of the engagement to overwhelm the PAC’s A.I. which was occupied with the Nova Wolf. The weapons’ nigh instant delivery to target timing slipped past the A.I.s reaction time less than a zeptosecond her hard light shield went up. Urshas prompted fire control syncs with a thought to deploy a Quantum Detachment missile to full yield to use the PAC’s shield against itself to contain the destructive anti-baryonic forces to literally gut the PAC nearly in half horizontally from prow to lower hip adjacent to her engine modules of her bottom lattice structures as if gutting a fish.

Anything that so much as resembled information, electronic or cybernetic warfare by the Striker and her cohort vessels was answered back by the claircognized talent of Avaeon ‘mind warfare’ regardless of the psionic inhibitors. The Stalker’s psychokinetic assaults shared the effectiveness of a person screaming through thick sound dampening glass windows towards the conditioned minds of Avaeons to an extent they were all but immune to such attacks. They answered back with psychokinetic assaults of their own with neural shredder attacks magnified thousands of times to debilitate the UDW’s crews to the point they’ll either be reduced to synapse overload or such confusion it affected their combat abilities. The UDW showed their hand when the Stalker and its UDW contingent dared to play the Avaeons at their own game when the mind warfare cabal made it a two way street to use the Striker’s attacks against them. The UDW strike force, even though cloaked, would not recognize this counter attack initially akin to spotting a shadow in the night now they were up against logarithmic architecture so exotic to their own their own logic algorithms was being reversed on the fly faster than quantum computations could handle. It was like the moment they tried to poke their noses into the Avaeon’s systems it backfired to the effect it exposed them despite of their stealth. The harder the UDW tried to regain control the more chaotic the ongoing attack became as there was no constant for them to get their bearings on. It was like a game that kept changing the rules whenever their A.I.s thought it had the advantage to strip away any hope to stop it. Before the Stalker and her contingent knew it the Moon Hawk and Trykor’s crew knew exactly where to find them as if they copied their address right down to the whiskers to nullify their stealth. Commander Rone and her weapons team snapped off tachyon and free range particle disruptors to overload the stealth fields then popped out of range to avoid retaliation and relayed targeting data to one of the swarmer carriers materializing into real space.

The swarmer carriers, “Morrow’s Influence” and “Puppet Master” loitered in warps space until they gain an opportunity to unleash their deadly platforms. Both ships timed the stealth corvettes response carefully by firing a meson disruption beam to leech their energy by stripping all electronic activity of the target vessels to leave them vulnerable for the swarmers to eviscerate them with impunity. They each positioned themselves in Knife and Arrow’s rear flanks to unleashed swarmers: horrific starfish-esque shaped entities that “swam” across the void in a nightmarish jellyfish-like fashion it could be as well surrealistic by the way they moved without any engine trials save for menacing red glowing tendrils that flowed behind them. These menacing entities clung to the hulls and “ate” their way through like so many scarabs through rotten flesh using their raw antimatter tendrils and ‘maws’ to chew through. Nothing of the synthetic or organic nature controlled them for something much more alien directed these vicious entities which made hacking them something to the hopeful imagination of the UDW.

The two swarmer carriers dealt with the corvettes, Commander Rone of the Trykor took the opportunity to sync up with her weapons officers to attack the Striker. The frigate popped around using her interialess drives to literally run circles around the UDW frigate once her stealth was nullified by her initial attacks. Avaeon warships lacked visible weapon ports to portray any sort of report such as a flare, beam, pulse or ball of fire let alone leave anyone to guess where exactly the destructive force originated only it played havoc on the Striker’s shields and cracked opened her Luminate plates.

In the mean time the Moon Hawk darted for the Commitment and Patience’s by bobbing and weaving out of her forward firing arcs, using the interialess drives to full advantage as Commander Nilus calculated the movement speed of the PAC’s tracking fields to avoid its main weapons literally dancing with it like an orox wrangler.

OOC: Apparently I funked up with the posting.

All the while and unbeknownst to Dugal and Morieghan of the ensuing rescue operation outside happening nearby the two sprites paced about their cell nervously as if they awaited execution. Dugal already took the initiative to activate his enviro-vest in case they were spaced again. Why these aliens did not remove these vests from them was beyond Dugal. Either confused or flat ignorant the vests seemed to be part of the attire inconspicuous to the foreign eye relative to casual Avaeonite apparel. Morieghan hesitantly activated his after watching his cousin pace about calmly to the point he hummed an old ballad.

“They’re going to kill us.” The Ambassador said.

“In due time.” Dugal replied with a hint of sarcasm.

“I thought help was on the way.” Morieghan spoke telepathically.

“It’s on the way. Question is will it be here in time?” Dugal gave a telepathic shrug in the exchange.

Suddenly they were startled when a peculiar person with similar aura like Whisper entered their cell. Dugal gave him a slight glare as if he was reading him then sized him up then relaxed his posture a fraction when this Echo persona made it aware he was not their executioners but rather something they did not expect.

“Examine us? Wait a second…what you mean examine?” Dugal did not like where this was going.

“Avaeons do not…uh…appreciate physical contact.” Morieghan added as if it could deter Echo from proceeding with the examination despite his assurances.

In the event if the Nova Wolf's missile would have hit its mark suddenly the ship jarred from an impact with such intensity it put even the steady footed Avaeons off balance. Dugal and Morieghan braced themselves up against the corners of the cell only not to get intimate with the cells’ floor but to put more distance between themselves and Echo.

The UDW Stalker's heuristic union had enough time to realize the reversal in time to redirect their defenses accordingly. Several shimmering plates of hard light manifested from the recessed projectors at maximum range from the frigate, catching the reversed bolt as it dispersed, the redirection of the shot breaking the magnetic capsule that held it in cohesion. The residual energies were still enough to shatter the plates, washing over the Luminaran plates with fury, but a fury that the vessel was well armored to handle. Damage was relatively insignificant, the most serious of which was a 26% degradation of the stealth coating of the vessel. Grazed and angry, the Stalker noted the Wolf's flight, but with more immediate threats, prioritized the threats.

Answering the psionic assault was the UDW's own psionics, from within the Psycho-Amp sphere's of each vessel. Primed and waiting, they were the standard assignment for a stealth Fist, astropaths one and all. As the neural shredder assault of the vessels came in, the astropath revealed themselves, drawing the entire assault onto themselves and transmitting it in reverse to their points of origin. The same method that made them effective for complete radio silence as communications in itself made them, within the spheres, the choice method to counter a telepathic assault. With a range to snare all incoming feeds on themselves, they did nothing to deflect it, or understand it. Just as with their reversing of the Hellbore shots, they simply turned the signal around and fed it back to them to generate a feedback.

The Stalker's heuristic crew was also able, to in extreme detail, perceive the actions as they occurred. Detecting the high speed launcher against the Harbinger even as the signatures of power redistribution formed, the frigate didn't wait for the call for aid, actually pushing it from their circle of attention as a broadside Hellbore discharged, the hellishly powerful bolt slamming into and through the local shield sector to incinerate the missile and gouge a glowing furrow along the armor of the Harbinger. Shifting to scatter patterns and reorienting on its axis to have broadsides bearing on both frigates while it shot forward, accelerating rapidly enough that anything not strapped down was thrown to the stern, despite the inertial fields generated over the interior to prevent such from thrusts. Reaching the center of the two in mere seconds, safeties were overridden and prepared for the vessels next play. Discharging all eight Hellbores at once, four to a frigate at the equivalent of knife range, well under a light second, the UDW frigate dumped all available power into an emergency TD translation, winking out a nanosecond after firing. Reappearing six seconds later twelve dozen kilometers away, the Stalker was, surprisingly, reversed its own course. Taking the reversal in stride, the frigate fully intended to use the technology against them, bouncing the shots off each other into the other.

At the same time, the UDW stealth corvettes Knife and Arrow were, unfortunately for their would-be ambushers, not at all where they're transmissions had been beaming from. At the sight of weapons fire, they had dropped bogey receivers and shifted positions radically, their stealthed signatures no sort of field, but integral structures that sealed the vessels emissions from escaping to be detected. When the swarmer vessels appeared and unleashed their payloads, they found themselves squarely in the crosshairs of each repositioned corvette's Chaser Abysses, with scarce kilometers between them. Which fired the moment the swarmer's launched. Delivering a 50 megaton per second punch apiece, the lightspeed velocity of the titan bolts all but eliminated the ability to dodge. Then each twin fired a fraction of a second later. With a 3 second cycle time, the Chaser was the fastest firing Abyss the UDW fielded, and each corvette carried a pair.

More fortunate was the Nighthawk, who's outbound vector was proven fortunate as new signature blooms expanded. Misfortune, however, struck nonetheless, as the arriving Fist's leaded corvette erupted from Tunnel Space at the predetermined coordinates, only to find itself in the path of a missile. Hard light hex plates erupted into being at the closest range to the vessel as possible, forming a lattice shell over the bow of the vessel, ECM projecting haywire signatures across the spectrums in an attempt to at least stumble the missile before it crashed into the face of the UDW assault corvette Raptor.

As the bloom faded, however, new signatures read in the system, Those of the the UDW frigates Marauder and Buzzard, and the corvettes Raptor, Sparrow, Pirate, and Galley.

"Two... one... jump"

The Nova Wolf made the mistake in assuming that the Nighthawk was being manned as a normal vessel, relying on automated computer tracking systems and crew members passing reports from one to another. Unfortunately they would find that the entirety of the ship was currently at the figurative fingertips of Whisper. No delay from orders passing hands were necessary, no locking on of automated systems were necessary. All that was necessary was the real time impulses that went through Whisper's consciousness which currently existed and functioned as an entity of pure psionic force free of the limitations of her physical body.

The missile never stood a chance of reaching its target. Even if the Nova Wolf managed to break off from the Harbinger of Piety in under five seconds - which was an impossibility given how much combat and dialogue had transpired - close the gap to reach the Nighthawk, light it up with tachyons and free particle arrays to overload its cloaking systems, and get the missile off, all before the ship jumped, Whisper's consciousness would snap taut like a rubber band the moment she felt a foreign object closing in on the ship at high speeds.

Had the Nova Wolf engaged the Nighthawk before it had gotten such a lead on them, rather than engaging the Harbinger of Piety, they might have had time to disrupt the FTL jump, but as it stood, there simply wasn't time enough. If by some anomaly the missile did manage to get fired off, Whisper was well able to collapse her consciousness in upon the missile to detonate it before it reached the Nighthawk.

Such a feat wouldn't be necessary though, as a new ship had appeared within the path of the incoming missile, and the Nighthawk had smoothly vanished with its passengers all securely aboard.

Both Supercarriers maintained their positions as the Avaeon ships darted and bobbed around them. Admiral Whitcomb watched the readouts before she turned to her XO.

"Get Apollos out to engage, power up our Phasor arrays and engage." She ordered, while the Harbinger of Piety banked away from the battle, and engaged her massive engines while the AI was plotting out possible courses the alien ships could take. With Hard light shields fully engaged, attacking the Reverence would be a near impossibility without some high grade ordinance.

The Commitment and Patience however seemed to have some different ideas, as her Commander watched the Moon Hawk on the DRADIS Readout.

"Do it."

The AI offered a quick nod, and then the Commander grabbed the railing, being timed just right as the Moon Hawk swept over the bulbous hull of the Commitment and Patience, she jumped.

The spatial distortion of such a large ship jumping would likely tear anything too close to pieces as the temporal wave moved from the point of jump, and given the Moon Hawk's proximity to the Aschen Ship, it would likely be torn to pieces, or at the very least have it's back broken in the sudden trick the ship pulled.

As the Harbinger of Piety turned about, the Athena Class Cruiser banked hard to the right, and engaged her Inertial dampeners to keep up with the Nova Wolf before the Cruiser's Commander garnered a lock, and loosed a stream of brilliant pink polarons towards the Nova Wolf, piggybacked on an Ion Beam that would act as an EMP to temporarily immobilize the ship.

As the pair of Swarmer Carriers were engaging the UDW, a totally alien ship would suddenly jump in behind their position. Several hundred kilometers out, the AHSC "Aurora" moved in, her crew loyal only to Admiral McGregor. A special crew infused with ATA genes and an understanding of Ancient technology.

"This is the Aurora to the Arrow, and Knife, need a hand?"

As the transmission went out, the ship's XO, without Raphael was the Commander, and he turned to manipulate a sweeping holographic representation.

"Launch drone weapons."

"Aye Sir.."

The Aurora came to a complete stop and launched two brilliant yellow spheres of light. These spheres encased a squid like weapon system that raced towards the Trykor, and seemed to follow it with the same agility and acrobatics of the Swarmer Carrier, while rapidly gaining on it.

The Drone weapons quickly began to evade incoming weapons fire, and even friendly ships, throwing up a powerful scrambling signature to prevent the Core from garnering an effective lock.

These Drone weapons would quickly gain, and likely impact the Avaeon ship. Where her crew would likely find shields and armor useless as the baryonic universe around the drone bent and warped. Before the Drone weapon detonated in a violent Quantum Plasmid explosion, a one-hit KO.

The Second Drone veered widely off course, and began to make it's way towards the Puppet master, aiming to take it out in much the same way.

“The QD missile missed!” The gunners reported in disbelief.

They were taken aback how their timing was off by a microsecond when the Nighthawk blinked out of harm’s way before the missile could make its mark. A fast tracked replay of the failed attack revealed the missile was deflected somehow and not by ECM or by any other conventional means caught the Nova Wolf’s combat assessment team’s interests. The invisible force that delayed the missile was similar to telekinetic soft kill used on older UCF ships. Greers and his crew did not count on the Aschen to employ such countermeasures although something told the Karl this type of defense was not Aschen standard issue and came to the conclusion the Aschen had psionics among their ranks as well. In spite of this the UDW corvette that jumped into the missile’s path in the Nighthawk’s wake regardless of its protection did little to prevent it from gutting the ship outright since it seemed to have ignored the lattice shell over its prow section to hit the hull directly from the weapon’s non-conventional nature. Greers let a curse reverberate into the drift of the ship’s pathway sync when he noticed the missile’s safety override did not prevent this unintended event. The suicidal UDW vessel would likely to succumb to explosive decompressions before the ship finally foundered into the void.

In the meantime the UDW’s feeble attempts to counter attack with mere feedback could only hope to delay the proactively tenacious attempts of the Nova Wolf and Trykor’s neural shredder and neural seeker attacks. No matter how well the UDW thought they were at this type of diversionary tactic the Fists tethered themselves to their own feedback as each time they threw it back it was akin to a lighthouse in a thick fog guiding the next attack straight into their own backyard. The UDW have the choice to negate it with passiveness to prevent the assaults from exacerbating or let their own hubris get the best of them until the psionic attacks took control of their ships entirely. Their intensity only matched the UDW’s own aggression pound for pound to demonstrate a form of restraint as the Avaeons were keen to fighting the Aschen than the UDW.

Unfortunately for the Striker, the Trykor adapted to the UDW frigate’s strategy on the fly when it tried to pull off a maneuver in attempt to use the defense barriers to their advantage was nullified. Avaeon defensive barriers could arbitrarily divert the hellbore bolts directly away from the ship itself and friendly ships in the area with reverse triangulated vectors to redirect the incoming attacks towards any nearby Aschen ships or aimlessly into the void even with the Stalker cleverly dodging this effect to an extent. Urshas used the advantage of her ship’s advanced weapons to give the UDW little to nothing to react towards when her gunners fired the frigate’s main guns in anger for the first time in the ship’s service history. Her gunnery crew capitalized on the nature of the Stalker’s damaged stealth coating to get a bead on the squirmy frigate to at least cripple it or force it from the fight since they were now hesitant to shed UDW’s blood out of respect for such a crafty opponent. There was no range limit nor was their transit time for the weapons to cross the many thousands of miles of a hard vacuum in deep space. tAvaeon grade weapons had mathematical certainty to hit their marks for all it took was the gunner to get a glimpse of the Stalker in their scopes for merely a fraction of a microsecond then the slight tinge of their synapse sent the signal to the weapons to discharge. There was no lead time, lag or delay the weapon was proportionate to the speed of a mere thought which was faster than any computer and faster than anything this galaxy had in the way of psionic-neural links. The Trykor's weapons were aimed at the Stalker's weapon ports, engine modules or anything that would not necessarily destroy the ship with a single stroke whilst the Stalker was on its reverse course to re-engage.

The swarmer carriers in the meantime were forced to flee the scene as the corvettes outmaneuvered them. The swarmer constructs bolted in a sphere formation in a matter of nanoseconds with interialess microbusts to create an anti-matter shield in time to make the corvette counterattack nullified just long enough to reform for the withdraw. The swarmer carriers lacked the combat alacrity like the frigates since they were mainly heavy support ships anyway and their combat doctrine seemed to be defensive rather than offensive. The corvettes may not have damaged the carriers but their clever maneuver spooked them enough to force the carriers to flee from the scene along with the other two carriers loitering in warp space. It was clear by now for any UDW assessments to conclude the Avaeons took the lives of their crew very seriously.

The Moon Hawk meanwhile almost bit off more than it can chew when it decided to tangle with a PAC by itself. The Moon Hawk’s commander was probably too brazen for his own good right when the Commitment and Patience used its own slip space rupture to swallow the frigate in a destructive temporal wake. Fortunately for the Moon Hawk’s navigator she was quick to react as she directed the Moon Hawk straight into the eye of wake rather than fight it to ride it out like a boat going with the current down the rapids to spare the ship overall.

“Your ships' hull stress is at 20% Nilus, your core won't take much more, pull out, that’s an order!” Greers barked when he got damage warnings in his synapses.

The Moon Hawk did not suffer any visual or physical damage however it spooked the Shipmaster to point he would rather have his group flee than risk losing a ship on his watch. He knew he had failed the rescue mission and his job now was to get everyone back home to avoid further humiliation. Without protest the frigate entered warp space to flee the scene leaving only the Trykor and the Nova Wolf left in the fight.

The momentary distraction did cost the Nova Wolf her safety parameters however as she took a direct hit from the Harbinger of Piety’s polaron battery. For practical purposes all Avaeon ships were immune to EMP effects however the polaron beams bounced around the defensive barrier until a beam got through to put on a brilliant light show as her shields reacted to the weapon. There was no physical or visual damage although the shields were fluctuating like a large rock being thrown into a calm pond creating a ripple effect to make the Aschen think they had effect.

“Trykor this is the Nova Wolf, pull out now this mission is a scrub we have taken too much heat, shields are at 50%!” Greers hailed. The timely order to withdraw prevented Urshas and her crew the opportunity to retaliate against the Stalker as the frigate reversed course to spool up her warp drives to high tail it out of the engagement zone.

Both ships, the Trykor and the Nova Wolf popped into warp space to fully withdraw from the scene in time to deny the Aurora the chance to get some action as the swarmer carriers had already exited the battle zone leaving no desired effect for the Plasmids whatsoever.

The Avaeons fled this battle relatively unscathed although at great expense. Greers knew his career was teetering on a precipice from this disastrous rescue attempt for he knew all out war that he tried to avoid was inevitable. This confrontation with the Aschen was far from over.

>Incoming.<

The bread of time that was capable for the crew of the Stalker in which to perceive the flood of data that the heuristic link of man and machine allowed, was, quite frankly, vast. However, no so much as to initially react in any sense to the strike of an instantaneous response hit that struck the port forward Hellbores, not even so much time as to erect the Hex-Plate shields in that cluster before the burst hammered the weapons, rendering them all but inoperative.

Knife and Arrow's crews suffered but disappointment at the lack of effect of the Chaser Abyss volley, like the rest of the Fist capturing the intel with meticulous recordings, intent of poring over the data at a later time.

And then the contacts vanished.

"Fuck." Spoken across the bridge of the Stalker, her captain rose from his crash couch, opening his eyes and separating from the link. Across the vessels, similar sentiments and actions were being undertaken, even as he swung to Comm. "Get me-"

"Got, sir. Patching them through."

Ahead, view holos popped into being, the bridges of her cohorts and reinforcements coming into view as the separate vessels initialized the network communications, bursts of code rippling through space at ultra-high frequencies between the ships. "Status reports."

"Abyss and Hellbores entirely non-effective, I'm afraid to call in."
"Raptor's hit and limping bad, but the core held. Comm's shot to shit, but I'm getting controlled air releases to stabilize drift. Damn glad for that, at least."

"Deflecting the psionic assault, however, successful, if draining." Whirling to the entrance to the bridge, Stalker's captain gaped at the sight of his psionic, mopping a fair amount of leaking blood from his nose and eyes. "Those bastard's are tough, I'll give them that."
"More like bloody cowards. Either the pressure drove them off, or the Nighthawk's jump made them realize there wasn't a point. In any case, I'll say this."

"These guys don't like catching return fire. Get on the battle data and get me answers. I want something to tell Archfiend when the ball drops."

As the Fists moved to consolidate on their wounded member, the Stalker's fighter squadron moved to rejoin its mothership. Bringing up a hail to the Andromeda, the captain stood over Comm, making his report. "Down one ship, minor damage otherwise, Admiral McGregor. Archfiend and the rest of the taskforce are en route, ETA ten minutes. Looking at what data we've collected now, and it's damned weird sir. Probably going to take a few days to start making progress. Any orders in the interim, sir?"
