The Multiverse

Setting

Niihama City is the center of the Taiyou Empire, a massive multi-layer city comprised of a population easily upwards of 8 billion people. Niihama City serves as the capital of the Taiyou Empire, with the Taiyou Cabinet Building, the Imperial Palace, and several government headquarters.

Niihama City consists of five sectors, from sea level to among the clouds.

| SECTOR 5 |The top most layer of Niihama City, this is where sunlight glistens atop massive skyscrapers that seem to erupt and pierce the layer of cloud below. This is home to wealthy businesses, wealthy individuals, and most government buildings. However, even Sector Five is unable to escape Niihama's pollution, and much of the sunlight is marred by haze.

| SECTOR 4 | The layer that is home to most upper class, several businesses, industry, and some government complexes, a good deal of sunlight reaches here and the people live in relative comfort.

| SECTOR 3 |The middle class live here, among houses built into Sector Five's massive support pillars, it's a hive like existence.

| SECTOR 2 | SECTOR 1 | Where the poor live slums living in polluted shanties forgotten by society at large. They live in perpetual darkness.

The outer fringes of Niihama City often will only be one, or maybe two levels as the population dens decreases, but on many edges of the city, it's layer cake design can be clearly seen. What amounts to a 'Skyline' for Niihama City depends on where you are.

A luxury Sullen Enterprises ship landed at the space port and after clearing customs the SEC diplomatic mission was underway. A small motorcade of hovercars made it's way toward Sector Five specifically to the Government sector. As they arrived a large group exited mostly in suits but two armed guards could be seen moving a handcuffed figure.

Ahead of them Linsday Holiday walked into the building she pondered sending a representative but decided that she needed to conduct this business personally. Plus she didn't trust Luke even if he was here as a prisoner there were too many things that could go wrong too many unknowns. She pondered if they might capture or kill her but pushed the thought aside if they did this it would only serve to anger the international community plus she had nothing herself to hold against the Taiyou.

It had taken awhile, but the courier making his annual deliveries to Niihama was allowed onto the planet. His ship parked at a spaceport in Niihama City where it was likely to be searched. And with the way things were it wouldn't be vandalized or stolen.

The courier had to pay for any damages or theft of his company's property. He didn't make enough in the first place.

After a long journey into the depths of Niihama City the courier came across the building he was looking for, he stepped inside and allowed security to do what they needed to do. It was then that he approached a security desk, tossing an envelope down on top of it. It was addressed to Seno Miyagi from the Intergalactic Council for Science.

Inside the envelope was a letter. When opened and read it would read;

"To Dr. Seno Miyagi,

We here at the newly founded Intergalactic Council for Science would like to extend to you an invitation to our very first gathering of scientific minds. We are holding a science exposition in Rorian Grand, we hope that you will make the time to attend.

Feel free to bring any technology developed, or sciences furthered, by yourself to display or sell to interested parties

We also would like to have someone of your status invest in the IGCS and join us as an official member in our cooperative pursuit of knowledge.

We hope you will join us in our quest for knowledge."

Niihama City Sector 5
Taiyou-Varden Diplomatic Envoy
48 Hours after the attack on the Great Seto Bridge

Outside the building and on several connecting overpasses, the sound of sirens echoed through the city. With Police having surrounded the building, and Imperial Warriors moving through it's halls.

The door to the Envoy's office was thrown open, and roughly four Imperial Warriors moved in with Princess Yukiko in tow.

As the Princess moved into the room, should the Envoy be present, she would glare at him. "I demand an explanation to the actions of your government!" She called out, before tossing images of the attack and the frigate onto the desk before him.

Should he not be there, the Princess would scowl.

"Search the Office, I want no stone unturned!"

The princess did not have to search far. The envoy was not a man. She would find her in the office assigned to her, listening to some violin music. As the princess entered and tossed the pictures the woman who had been with Einar Falls during their first true diplomatic meeting stood and switched off the music before perusing the pictures. "The Varden did not do this. Someone wants you to think they did.", she said and raised her right palm as if to interrupt the next thing that would be said. "There is no proof that can be found here on Niihama."

"Well, a lot of people are convinced the Varden were behind the attack. Burden of proof is on your state." The Princess said as the Imperial Warriors spread out, their weapons readied and passively pointed to the woman, but not outright aggressively aimed.

"I seem to recall that my Father was clear in the negotiations with Warden Falls, that any acts of aggression would be met with overwhelming retaliation." She said, flipping on a nearby television in the office. The News reporter was droning on in Taiyou, but the content of the report was strikingly clear. The AXIS Cooperation forces along with the Imperial Military were beginning to mobilize for a counterattack.

"Though, if my knowledge on military strategies is correct, and generally it is. It'd be strategically foolish to attack a bridge in the ass end of space, that is more a food source than any military importance..." It was all starting to come together now, strategically the attack didn't make sense.

"I can be assured that I will have the Varden's Full cooperation in investigating this matter?"

The woman nodded and observed the intelligence in the princess's eyes. "Yes. I am sure that the Varden are already investigating the matter to the best of their ability. Warden Falls would have been here to meet you but he has fallen ill and returned to his birth place to pass away." She said and then reached to the top of her desk to pick up a folder filled with data cards. "I was directed to hand this to those who came if there was an intergalactic incident. On them you will find the FTL channels needed to reach various entities and a translation of many of the languages those entities speak in the case that there is a language barrier."

She picked up the leather jacket that had been resting on the back of the seat and put it on as if she was preparing to leave.

Yukiko Takayama recieving a Text message regarding the attack in Wicked Creek

15:05 Local Time, twenty minutes following the attack in Wicked Creek.
Imperial Taiyou Palace

Princess Yukiko was still working diligently to try and get to the bottom of the attack on the Great Seto Bridge. She was in her room quietly watching television when her cell phone chimed.

Reaching out she took it to flip the bright pink phone open, and look at the screen, she subsequently frowned.

"This is not good..." She said to herself, before she stood up. "I'll need to relay this to the Imperial General Headquarters..." She added as she pulled on a pear of jeans, pocketed the phone and then started out of the Palace and down the hall.

"Shit... shit shit shit..." She muttered.

Omar, Honz, and Augee would find their way deeper into Niihaam relatively unobstructed, though unlike the caverns in Iskjerne, they would learn that these caverns were quite warm, and even a little bit tepid. Sealed concrete doors barred their entry into the facility, but open cavern beckoned them deeper in another direction.

It was a long trek through the tunnel, which seemed to get narrower in some places, almost narrow enough to barely accommodate a single person. And the more they trekked, the deeper it seemed they were going into the caves, but the chamber eventually opened up, and the sound of rushing water could be heard in the distance, along with a warm, damp breeze that smelled thick like human waste, refuse, and filth.

Soft loamy ground would eventually become hard, turning into concrete coated in a thick coating of algae, and moss, which only served to exacerbate the thick stench of refuse.

If they carried the flashlights they had looted from the corpses of the security personnel, the light would reveal a wide channel filled with choppy, brownish green water that seemed to be flowing in one direction, and several metal bridges spanning the chasm. The group had happened upon a drainage channel of some kind, and upstream a faint light could be seen roughly a hundred meters ahead. The air that blew in was thick, acrid smelling, and almost difficult to breathe, as it was hard on the lungs and seemed to settle deep in the chest, like an unhealthy smoke.

There was only one way out, and that was upstream, along the concrete channel where the sights and sounds of Niihama City greeted them.

The trio would likely emerge along a drainage channel, that was lined with trash, waste, and the smell of excrement, and chemicals. Buildings towered all around them, while streetlights bathed the area in an orange glow.

The distant sound of police sirens could be made out, but the trio had more or less slipped the perimeter of the Ten-Shi Zaibatsu Dig site, and into the crowded streets of Niihama City, where a sea of people filled the walkways, coming, going, and going about their business as far as the eye could see.

Cars honked their horns as they moved through the streets, people lazily moving out of their way, Market stalls lined the streets as well, their tarps fluttering in the wind, and neon signs hummed idly, as the smells of curries, seared seafood, and rice filled the streets, subtly overpowered by the refuse channel they were in.

Honz the Elder and Augee the Archer would follow Jarl Omar the One-Eye through the feintly lit cave tunnels, their only source of light being the red blinking alarm lights which flickered slowly. Jarl Omar was armed with a stockless Seburo C26a Bullpup assault rifle equipt with an LED flashlight and 2 underload magazines. He had about 40 rounds in one magazine and less than 20 rounds in his other magazine, each one made from tungsten tipped 5.45x45mm cartridges. Omar fumbled with the flashlight for a moment before turning it on. He clicked the button again to make it flash. He clicked it again to turn it off. Augee was holding a smaller sidearm, a single action/double action semiautomatic Seburo MP5 with fourteen 5.45x18mm rounds in the clip. He flipped on his own flashlight and shined it around the tunnel. Honz would reach over and cover Augee's lightbulb, shaking his head. "No, keep it for when you need it" Honz whispered, himself holding an assault rifle similar to Omar's.

As the three of them cautiously moved through the cave tunnel, they saw a small metal sign. "Sector One" it read in a runic script unfamiliar to them, causing the three Norsemen to delve further. The tunnel grew darker, narrower, and soon it began to smell funky as they reached Niihama City's sewage system. All of them would gag and snarl at the smell of human feces, urine, vomit, stagnant blood and whatever other vile substance 8 billion people had flushed down the toilet. But there was something else too. Noises and sounds, the echo of busy traffic and people gossiping. It was coming from up above them. Omar flicked his flashlight up at the ceiling. There beside him was a ladder built into the wall, and above him was a manhole cover leading into the populated city above. Omar looked to Honz and Augee, both nodding quietly back to him. The vikings had found their exit. It did not occur to them however that they had experienced a timelapse as they crossed the gateway, as in the nine minutes it took them to reach Niihama's surface, around 2 whole weeks had already passed back at the Iskjerne settlement. The portal between Iskjerne and Niihama was effecting time itself, slowing down to a stop as they neared the gateway but speeding up again as they moved further away from it. Jarl Omar had led his two accomplices into a totally different world.

Honz would go first, climbing the ladder to the top of the manhole. The others followed him up as he popped open the manhole cover and slid it to the side. Just then, a car would zoom overhead, nearly taking him by surprise as he attempted to poke his head out. The driver never saw him. Honz instinctively ducked back into the hole as the vehicle flew by and then glanced down at Omar, who nodded for him to proceed with caution. Honz would poke his head out and look around again. Seeing no flying monsters with glowing eyes, Honz climbed out of the manhole in the middle of a busy street where people were now crossing. Some of the people would shoot ackward glances at him, but most of them seemed too preoccupied to even notice or care about his presence. He had ascended into the slums of Niihama City, where it was not uncommon for filthy long haired bums to crawl out of the sewers. Soon, the other two vikings would climb up behind him. All of them were still painted black with ashes and now, wreaking of Taiyou sewage, were almost indistinguishable from the impoverished Taiyou themselves apart from their larger statures and the weapons they were carrying. Augee slid the manhole cover closed after he climbed up, then turned to look at the jarl for instruction.

Jarl Omar stood up and looked around. There were people all around them, walking past them and going about their business. It didn't take long for him to notice that they were all caught up in routine and going the same direction like some form of miniature migration from one side of the street to another. "Come on," Omar told his comrades, and soon they would blend in with the other pedestrians and walk across the street to the other side. The air was hot and humid, thick with smog and in the darkness there seemed to be a yellowish orange fog or haze illuminated by the many street lamps and city lights. The trio of ghost warriors would use this veil to help them keep a low profile as they slipped out of the herd of people and stepped into the shadowy ghetto alleyway between two tall city buildings. "Over here," Omar said, leading them down the dark alleyway to the back door of an abandoned car shop. Omar would use the butt end of his rifle to break the doorknob and snap the lock before stepping into the empty large shop garage. Honz and Augee followed close behind him, all three of them having their weapons drawn as they scanned the area for any signs of danger. All they found though were a few vehicles propped up on jacks, some tool boxes and tire racks. The shop was empty for the weekend, as business hours were during the day and so nobody was expected to be there for at least another day or two. They would need that time to think of a plan.

Jarl Omar ordered his two partners to take up strategic positions inside the car shop, where they could watch each other's backs and gaurd every angle. Omar himself would walk around, looking at all the cars and car parts inside the garage. He picked up an electronic battery-powered hand drill and examined it, having never seen anything like it before. He looked over the air compressor, the car jack, a gasoline can and a spare tire attached to the rim of a Tokura N22 mid-sized family vehicle dating back to the early first era of the Takayama dynasty. Such cars were older, cheaper and more common in Niihama's sector one project districts, considered to be an obsolete classic in comparison to newer model third era vehicles. But to Omar and the vikings it was centuries ahead of their time in engineering and technology. The jarl wasn't sure exactly what to make of it as he peered through the window at the steering column and then walked around the car to the open hood, staring at the exposed motor engine. To him, it appeared to look like some form of iron carriage or metal chariot, but it far surpassed his understanding and so he continued to look around quietly while Honz and Augee checked to make sure the rest of the building was clear.

"Now what?" Augee asked as he started opening desk drawers and looking for useful items. Honz would walk up to one of the locked store windows and peak through the closed blinds, looking out at Niihama's city streets and towering skyscrapers towards the dark night sky as people walked by, completely unaware of the dangers that hid in the shadows just on the other side of the walls from them. Omar would find a small mini-fridge in the break room which had someone's leftover birthday cake in it. The frosting was red and yellow, and there was blue lettering which spelled "Otanjōbiomedetōgozaimasu" on it. Jarl Omar would grab a chunk of the cake with his bare hand, shoving it into his mouth while getting frosting all over his lips before grabbing a plastic bottle of water and chugging it down sloppily. Augee was still going through the different office desk drawers and pocketing random office utensils when Honz whistled for them to come take a look. Omar and Augee would stop what they were doing and walk over to Honz, who motioned for them to peak through the blinds. "Look up there," Honz said, pointing to a large Taiyou billboard advertisement of Seburo Industries, the empire's largest arms manufacturing industry. Omar scratched his chin in thought before turning to guard the back door. Just then, he started to envision something else mentally. In the back of his mind, he thought he could see a small dog gazing up at some spooky looking trees for a moment. He squinted and tried to regain focus. That's when his hallucinations took effect. There hovering before him in the center of the garage was a yellow R.F.E. Militia land speeder, posed perfectly still like a 3D hologram, with someone riding it from the inside. The whole image was completely alien to him.

Omar shut his eyes tightly and shook his head to clear the images from his mind. When he opened his eyes again, the little dog, the trees and the hoverbike were no longer there. Omar had only imagined it all, or so it would seem as the magic shroom juice played tricks on his psyche. This was soon followed by strange voices in his head. To him it sounded like people were screaming and being burned alive. He saw a vision of a man in a bear-skinned suit mauling another man to death with his claws and teeth. Omar started to sweat profusely as he envisioned a mental image of Erling Snake being baptized in the blood of his enemies while many Danish vikings were hung from trees above poisonous snakepits or else crucified upside down from the branches of blood stained trees. "Run Gwendolyn! Ruuunnn!!!" some lady's voice echoed in his mind. But soon it became scrambled among other noises in his head, like the crackling of fire and the cracking icesheets. "Roger that Kamidake 2, we have confirmation." The room started spinning as Omar began to feel slightly dizzy. "I won't rest until Trygvirsson is dead at my feet," one of the voices shouted. "You must be careful m'lord Sigurd, you don't know the powers you are tinkering with" Omar thought he heard the blacksmith say. "Lærðu að þú munt," some old witch cackled. Omar leaned back against the wall, plugging his ears. "Thank you for coming to Ako's aid," a different voice called out. "Cerex is on-line," a young cybernetized voice said calmly. "She is a shield-maiden you know" a maiden servant said defensively. "Omar, wake up" someone else whispered quietly.

"Omar, wake up!" Augee placed his hand on Omar's shoulder. "You alright?" he asked. Omar would squint and rub his eyes slowly. "Yeah, I'm fine" Omar answered quietly. "I thought we lost you for a moment there," Augee said as he ducked down behind the counter. Jarl Omar would grip his rifle and look around the empty car shop. It was still dark and quiet. Honz was still standing in the same spot, peering through the blinds and looking out the window for any signs of danger. Omar took a minute to regain his bearings before taking a position behind the door and guarding it. "The king is going to shit rocks when he finds out about this place," Omar said quietly as he rested back against the corner of the wall and breathed deeply.

Adrenaline was going strong, and the vivid memories of the recent race weren't lost on the Taiyou man as he pulled his car down a side street through Niihama city. The beat of electronic music filled the interior of the car, and Takashi was lost in his own thoughts, while he was bringing the car through a crowded intersection.

Takashi turned over towards his passenger, who was clasping the title to their new vehicular acquisition. The 'pink slip' or the vehicular registration was fluttering in the Ten-shi GTR's air conditioning vents.

Takashi revved the engine hard once more, his arms turned the wheel, and the car pulled into an alleyway, it's brilliant white-blue high-intensity discharge headlights illuminating the dark, tepid alleyway, and the roll-up doors to the garage.

'Takashi's auto repair'

It was Takashi's birthday, and he was looking forward to the cake, and booze that his enforcer, Jyunichi had prepared for them. They were planning on a big party, and the anticipation was building as the man grinned widely. Putting the car in park, revving the motor once more, reveling in it's angry roar, he turned over to his companion, Yusuke Suzuki, a young man just out of high school. He nodded back to Takashi, before placing the car's registration back into the glove compartment. Takashi chuckled, and took a swig of beer that had been sitting in the center console.

"Hell of a race, wasn't it, Suzuki!" Takashi called out, throwing the driver door open. "Fuck yeah! Those goons don't have shit on our turf! we own the sector one run!" Suzuki held up his own beer, the can glinting in the street light. The pumping of the techno beat increased in volume, but both Yakuza stopped for a moment.

The door to their shop looked like it was busted, the door knob broken, and hanging loosely from the door.

"Shit!" Takashi hissed, directing his boy, Yusuke to the trunk of the car.

Moving quickly, Takashi inserted the key into the lock with a thunk, and opened the trunk. Inside was a collection of weapons, mostly handguns, a few assault rifles, and a shotgun.

Takashi grabbed the shotgun, and racked a double-ought buckshot shell into the reciever, while Suzuki preferred a small, fast firing submachinegun.

They moved to either side of the door, and Takashi grimaced.

He was going to put down whoever had broken into his shop.

Lower levels... three days... That's what the dare had been... Her so-called friends always had stupid dares, but why did she always pick the dares when truth would keep her out of harm's way. Stupid games... stupidity at its finest... Then again no one had actually thought she would truly accept such stupidity as doing this dare. Her life was boring enough as it was, living in the wealthy sector, being doted on by the wealthy sons, followed by the daughters of tycoons, annoyed by all. Her life was nothing but parties and lies. The dare would bring her something to talk about besides how boring everything was. Just because one has wealth, doesn't mean life was fun.

The wind blew her shoulder length black hair over her face and she used a slender ringed finger to uncover her face. Icy blue eyes glanced about as she walked, she had no idea where she was or how long she had been walking anymore, granted she didn't care either. She just had to last two more days and then she'd go home. Shoving her hands back into her jacket pockets, she sighed to herself and watched a car fly by, making her hair fly back in her face once again.

Muketsu watched the car round a corner and then come to a halt. Brushing her hair out of her face again, she let out a scoff and zipped up her jacket, murmuring to herself. She could hear faint voices as she neared the corner of the street, kicking a can out of her way. Curiosity and boredom pulled her toward the voices.

Niihama City at Midnight...
Takashi's Auto Repair Shop in Sector One...

Darkness filled the ghetto streets, the only source of light being a few yellow street lamps and traffic lights, plus the headlights of whatever occasional vehicles would roll by. The air was thick, hot and heavy, the dense brownish orange smog and strong smell of stale beer, rancid urine and rotten garbage filled the dark foggy air and cast a gloomy setting over the whole atmosphere. This was a concrete jungle full of unpainted projects, grey buildings covered in graffiti spray-painted Yakuza gang art, barred windows and padlocked doors. The black asphalt roads were covered in skid marks, oily water puddles and drainage gutters emanating with gaseous methane, carbon dioxide and hot steam. Sector One was hoodlum territory, a place of poverty, crime and homelessness where the NCPD had very little if any jurisdiction. Yakuza ruled the underworld in this part of the city, and tonight the streets were active as Takashi and his gang took part in an illegal Taiyou street race. It was the perfect time and place for mayhem of all sorts to happen as Takashi and his partner Suzuki pulled into the garage of Takashi's underworld chop shop, driving behind the steering wheel of a Ten-Shi GTR street racer, revving his souped up muscle engine while blaring electronic Dubstep techno music from his amped up speakers.

Honz the Old had spotted them coming from his position behind the curtain blinds at the front of the store and forewarned his comrades to hide the best they could. Honz would grip his Seburo C26A assault rifle in both hands and cock it, leaning back into the shadowy dark corner behind the curtain, his long white hair and pale red skin being camouflaged with the sooty black paint he had used to conceal himself. Augee the Archer would likewise chamber his Seburo MP5 pistol before ducking behind one of the wheeled rolling chairs underneath the office desk. Jarl Omar their one-eyed leader barely had time to step off into the cleaning closet before the car doors opened. He readied his own 5.45x45mm assault rifle, tightening the gun strap around his arm for a better grip as he heard the car trunk slam shut over the loud music. He started to breathe heavily, his adrenaline kicking in as his forehead began to sweat. Honz would remain calm as can be, closing his eyes and allowing the magical shroom juice to take effect. When he opened his eyes again, he would begin to see visions of a surrealistic nature. The glare of the streets lights reflecting off the glass window started to dance to the techno hypnotic music, and soon every yellow ray of light in the darkness seemed to change shape into something more sentient and alive. Honz began to hallucinate mildly, for there floating and flying in front of him were tiny little yellow orbs or sprites which hovered and circled around his head. After a few seconds, the bright orbs began to grow tiny limbs and wings, resembling faeries or some other illuminated spirits which smiled and danced around in front of him.
Honz immediately felt calm and relaxed at that moment without a care in the world as his imaginery tiny friends flew up to him, grabbed him by his sleeves and tried to pull him towards the light. Forgetting where he was for a moment, Honz almost followed them. He was about to step out of the shadowy corner when suddenly it dawned on him. He couldn't move from his position or else he would be spotted. He brushed the faeries away with his hand, shewing them off. But the tiny pixies weren't detoured, evading his touch before trying to pull him into the light again.

Meanwhile, Jarl Omar's heart was beginning to race. He closed his eyes tightly, trying to shake his own strange hallucinations. Unlike Honz tho who was seeing imaginary faefolk, Omar was trapped inside the darkness of his own mind. He saw mental images of a monster like nothing he had ever saw before. It wasn't spiritual in nature, nor flesh and blood, but something metal and more mechanical, complete with wires and cables. Omar gritted his teeth and tried to relax, but all he kept hearing was old mother's high-pitched creepy laughter as her witchy voice kept whispering in his head.

Augee the Archer was the only one who wasn't experiencing any hallucinations at that moment. Instead, he was beginning to experience something else. Time started to slow down for him, or at least it seemed. His mind became sharper as his senses were amplified. Visually, everything seemed brighter. Audibly, everything sounded clearer. The walls around him began to pulsate with the beat of the Yakuza's techno music. He could smell car fuel, oil, sugar, coffee, beer and gasoline. Augee could feel the subtle vibrations in the floor as Takashi and Susuki walked around. Augee developed a weird metallic taste in his mouth as he felt his emotions slip away. The magic shroom juice was slowly making him faster, stronger, more fearless and impervious to pain. He started to foam from the mouth, chemical reactions effecting his cerebral cortex and pineal gland as the veins in his arms and neck began to protrude, his thin lean muscles becoming more pronounced with each passing moment. Augee gripped his pistol tightly and braced himself as Susuki walked by the very desk Augee was hiding under. All the Yakuza gangster had to do was look under the desk to find Augee crouched down with a loaded gun in his hand.

But just as it seemed like Augee was about to be busted, something else suddenly caught Susuki and Takashi's attention. Jarl Omar accidentally leaned too hard against the metal shelf in the cleaning closet, bumping a spray bottle off the shelf with his shoulder by accident. The soap bottle would hit the hard tile floor with a loud enough thud that it could be heard from inside the garage. If the Yakuza weren't sure before whether or not the burglars had left the chop shop, they were sure now that at least one of them was still inside the building with them. Omar gritted his teeth and backed up further into the small dark closet, pointing his rifle through the darkness into the open doorway as Takashi crept up from the side, pointing his own loaded shotgun at the open doorway. He was about to make contact with Omar any second, the two strangers now standing only feet away from being face to face with their guns drawn at one another. Omar slowly and quietly placed his index finger on the trigger and prepared to squeeze it.

Just then, a Seburo assault rifle was discharged into the air. Only it wasn't Omar who pulled the trigger, it was Honz, who suddenly started rapid-firing into the darkness. "Rrraawhhh!!!" Honz roared, squeezing the trigger while moving his rifle around in a pray-n-spray fashion, immediately drawing the Yakuza's attention. "Bllrrat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!" The Seburo rifle let out multiple high-powered loud shots from the sound of Honz's burst fire. But this sudden wave of tungsten tipped bullets was not necessarily aimed at the Taiyou street racers. Honz was pointing his weapon upwards and spraying at the shop windows and ceiling, yelling madly at the invisible annoyances that only he could see. He was trying to shoot the faeries out of the air, as they were beginning to drive him crazy. This sudden outburst proved ineffective however, as nobody else could see the tiny glowing faeries except for Honz, who was somehow convinced that they were trying to kill him. "Ptat-tatat-tat-tat!!" Honz sprayed into the air, shooting the glass wall at the front door and causing the windows to shatter. He had also managed to shoot the EXIT sign on the ceiling, causing it too to spark and shatter.

The crazed Norseman had lost his wits finally and had surrendered to the magical power of the shroom juice. The other people around him in the chop shop no longer existed to him. Honz was in his own world now, entering a berserker rage of sorts as he started shooting at random, aiming at nothing and nobody in particular. "Brat-tat-tat-tat!!" As the front store wall shattered and came tumbling down, glass would sprinkle the sidewalk and millions of tiny clear shards would bounce into the street. The gunshots were loud, very loud, enough to make most of the innocent bystanders scream and run in fear for their lives. The commotion would certainly grab the attention of Takashi and Susuki as Honz suddenly stopped and pointed his rifle at them. "Rat-uh-tat-tat-tat-tat-click-click!!" Honz the Old would unleash his weapon upon them in a spraying fashion, emptying the rest of his magazine. The sudden wave of glass shattering gunshots could be heard from the distance, also attracting the attention of Muketsu as she walked down the dark streets, kicking a small tin can out of the way with her shoe. Muketsu had been bored and lonely with nothing to do until now, as people ran passed her down the sidewalks, yelling, pointing and screaming. "Somebody call the police!" people shouted. "Someone is shooting!" a young woman screamed. "Get off the streets! Get inside!" someone else yelled out.

As the gunfire stopped briefly, Honz would freeze. "Click-click-click" he pulled the trigger again, but the chamber was empty. He hit the lever on the backside of his weapon, dropping the empty magazine on the tile floor. "Errrg!" Honz grumbled, fumbling for the other loaded magazine on his toolbelt as he stood in the center of the lobby, nothing around to provide cover for him except for maybe Omar, as the one-eyed jarl seized his opportunity, suddenly diving out of the cleaning closet in midair. "Blat-tat-tat-tat!!" Omar sprayed a line of bullets towards the Ten-Shi GTR hoping to hit Takashi or Suzuki, never aiming as he slid across the tile floor into the open hallway, ducking behind a wall. The wall was hollow, supported by aluminum metal beams and covered with drywall, but he was hoping it would provide Honz with enough time to get out of harm's way. "Honz!" Omar yelled, but the old man was unresponsive. Honz fumbled with his assault rifle, swatting at the imaginary tiny faes as they buzzed around his head, taunting him.

At that moment, Augee would crawl out from under the office desk and over to another desk, peaking around the corner of the desk to look into the open garage shop. Augee was dressed simply in typical Old Norse fashion wearing one-piece leather non-stitched shoes with leather laces, straight white under-trouser leggings under poofy or baggy legged trousers, linen long brown stocking socks, a grey linen collarless buttonless stringless shirt tunic, a longer flared dresslike over-tunic with a cloth sash and leather toolbelt with a brass round buckle, a simple bowl-shaped beanie hat or skullcap under a simple small grey wool hood, pastel blue kaftan robe, thick wool knitted shin socks and hand mittens, a long blue wool cape with silver inlaid brooches and a leather square pouch. Under his long blue kaftan, he wore a quilted padded gambeson and lamellar scalemail armor with chainmail gloves. His wool hood was down to cover his throat guard and over his head he wore a hornless round spangenhelm with a chainmail aventail and noseguard. He also had a small ashwood handled iron bearded axe, a yew bow and a longseax with a reindeer antler handle, apart from the handgun he was holding in both hands.

Jarl Omar was dressed similarly apart from his black feathered cloak, animal fur snow cap and thick fur trimmed snow boots. Omar was also wearing riveted byrnie ringmail armor over a more solid chestplate, gripping his own assault rifle with both hands as he sat on the hallway floor with his back to the wall, looking up at Honz who was reloading his weapon. "Honz, get down!" Omar shouted, but the old man had lost all fear and sensitivity. Honz just growled, sliding the extra magazine into place with a click before cocking his rifle and pointing it at the Yakuza, his mind now lost to them as he began foaming from the mouth like a rabid bear.

Chaos erupted at the sound of gunfire, causing Muketsu to flinch and duck for cover. She watched as people ran by her and gasped when one ran into her, knocking her to the ground. Muketsu felt a sharp pain and she licked her bottom lip, tasting the salty sweetness of blood blossom. Her gaze watched the fleeing people for a moment before she looked towards where the gunfire sounded from. Part of her screamed to follow the fleeing crowds, but the other part suggested to follow the danger.

Pushing herself to her feet, Muketsu brushed off the dirt from her hands and wiped at her mouth with the back of her hand. Not sure why, she moved toward the sounds of gunfire and found herself near one of the windows within a few minutes. Her heart was pounding as she pushed her back against the wall and she slid down to a crouching position, her hand moving toward the dagger at her side. One should never bring a knife to a gunfight... she thought to herself with a soft chuckle.

She had no idea what she was doing or why her feet continued to carry her towards this particular danger. Her gaze went to the window that had been shattered by the spray and she studied it for a moment before moving closer to it. Slowly inching closer to the window, her grip on the hilt of her dagger tightened, she was ready to pounce on whomever stuck their head out of the window. Her heart pounded as she tried to calm herself.

Once she reached the window, Muketsu froze and listened to the sounds coming from inside. Her eyes narrowing slightly as she tried to find any noise of movement under the sounds of the techno music coming from somewhere and the gunfire inside, but she couldn't hear anything over the beat of her heart pounding.

Takashi went in first, finding much to his dismay that the interior of the shop was quiet, it's occupants had been hiding and he was bound to sniff them out. Racking the shotgun once with a deafening Clack-clack, Takashi began to look around the counters, around the desk, his steps slow, purposeful, careful.

The moment the gunfire erupted from Honz, the pair of Yakuza seemed to spring into action. Takashi took the moment to dive behind the car, rolling on the ground as the crazed madman was firing rounds in all directions. Takashi had mere moments to send out a quick group text message calling for help, before he caught Suzuki, whom had rolled back out the front door at the gunfire, effectively trapping the Yakuza lieutenant inside the shop with a crazed burglar that, at first glance seemed to be sporting military grade weaponry.

Bullets whizzed by, glass raining down all around them, the screams of bystanders echoed all around him, but the Taiyou gangster kept his composure, and waited in cover until there was a flurry of bullets that ricochet with high pitched pings, and twangs.

Takashi took the opportunity to peer from his cover behind the Tokura N22 and aimed his shotgun center mass at Honz, firing the weapon with a deafening 'Poom!', then a 'clack-clack' and another 'Poom!' Spraying hundreds of 8mm BBs towards the crazed warrior with each trigger pull, hoping that the sheer number of projectiles would tear the man apart, blowing basketball sized holes in his chest, and throwing him back on his butt.

Suzuki was pinned down, though, as hundreds of bullets pinged into the car, tearing through sheet metal, and plastic alike, he peered up and returned fire, his fast-firing machine pistol making the buzz of an angry bee, as dozens of 9mm rounds were fired into the shop at Omar. Bullets tearing through the drywall, pinging reinforced concrete, and gouging small indentations into the cinder block wall. The entire shop was a close quarters firefight, and Takashi, and Suzuki were both outnumbered, and split apart. Adrenaline flowing through the pair of Taiyou, Takashi quietly ignoring the warm sensation of blood running down his arm as he raised back up, aiming the Shotgun at Omar while he was focused on the car outside.

After the gang hit took out his whole group Yamasaki managed to still come out on top. In spite of him holding the door with bodies mounting he couldn't be everywhere at once. Bastards probably bribed at the back flanked him while they ended up having throwing a van at him to put him down. Had to respect them for that. While he was still fuzzy on what the hell happened the bullets digging out of his chest rather than in stood out from the haze on his way out the morgue. Odd monk looking sorts with blue lanterns carrying him while answering his drunken questions. They dropped him at the safe house on his ID which got him shot again leaving the next morning. That wasn't as much a problem now he'd found. Got himself out of damned Terra in spite of temporary bulletholes and back to Niihama. Once reconnecting with some bosses they seemed to know his body went missing and he might somehow be topside but the guys he talked to weren't about to tell him much more. Then a text message came in and they threw him right back out the door by way of the armory to pick up a gun. Big guns.

A car raced down the street the bald shirtless Yamasaki eying the shop as he sent a short response to the phone number on the message, ((Heavy fire inbound. Target?))

Yamasaki screeched to a halt in front of the shop a M249-G4 appearing from the passenger seat. As a red flower marred the tattoos on his chest the large man juddered. Then got out with a smile and put the bipod down to click off the safety. The red river draining back into his body through the skin. The hole in his back hurt like a son of a bitch but it only hurt. Rifle butt against the intact shoulder Yamasaki checked for targets.

What was it that drew Omar the One-Eye and his kinsmen into the Taiyou city? Armed with military issued weapons, dulled by the effect of the magic potion in their bloodsteams, fueled by hatred and the thought of revenge against an unknown, unseen enemy which may not have even truly existed, the Norse ghost warriors were as dangerous now as they ever were. "Rat-a-tat-tat-tat!!!" Shattered glass, flying papers and shards of concrete, many wooden splinters and chunks of drywall - the chop shop was being ripped to hell - and it wouldn't be long before the Vikings and the Yakuza would attract more attention. By now, calls had been made and text messages had been sent. There would be more gang members soon, and probably other curious individuals armed with weapons of their own. But nobody would come to rescue the vikings. Omar, Honz and Augee were completely isolated and it would take a small miracle for them to get out of this situation in one piece.

Honz moaned and growled lowly like a rabid bear, fumbling with his assault rifle as he dropped the empty magazine and reloaded his rifle, using the only other extra mag he had on him. "Blat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat!!!" Omar tried to cover him, jumping out from the cleaning closet and into the gunstorm. "Honz!!!" the one-eyed jarl roared as he slid across the tile floor behind a hollow wall, glass and paperwork being kicked aside as the jarl ducked down with his back against the wall, staring out of the open shattered glass window to the skyscraper buildings across the street. "Honz get dow-" POOM!!! the painted faced warrior was suddenly interrupted by a loud shotgun being fired. Honz paused for a moment, turning to look in the direction from which the shot was fired. The gunfire continued, but nobody in the shop could hear anything but a brief second of deafening silence followed by the beautiful sound of techno music. There before him was Takashi, pointing the shotgun directly at his midsection. Honz didn't realize it yet, but he had just been hit. Hundreds of 8mm tiny balls would rip through his shirtless skin, leaving tiny blood trailing holes in his flesh as he gazed into the eyes of his shooter, dropping his assault rifle on the floor.

Honz the Old was a large, muscular fellow with very tough skin, but the 8mm BB's tore through him like butter. He wouldn't bleed immediately however, much to Takashi's dismay. The magic shroom juice had thickened the Norseman's blood and made him impervious to fear or pain. Honz gritted his teeth and roared again loudly, grabbing the edge of the heavy wooden desk in front of him with one hand and pushing it effortlessly out of his way. He then stepped forward towards Takashi, reaching behind himself to draw forth the hand-held throwing axe from his belt. Honz growled lowly, raising his axe into the air while looking at Takashi with savage intentions. "Clack-clack, POOM!!!" the street racer cocked his shotgun and fired again as Honz stepped towards him. But this time the Norse warrior would be stopped in his tracks. Honz stumbled backwards, a melon-sized hole in his stomach causing the old man to lower his weapon. Honz looked down, sticking his fingers into his own stomach before rubbing the blood between his fingertips. Honz looked back up and staggered towards Takashi again, hatred in his eyes as he tried to raise his axe.

But it was no use. The old ghost warrior only managed to take one more step before he fell over, landing facedown on the welcome mat just feet away from where Takashi was standing. A pool of thick viking blood formed around Honz's motionless body, seeping into the blue carpet and running onto the lobby's tile floor. The old man had finally fulfilled his purpose in life, and as the old ghost warrior took his last breath, he looked over to see the fae spirits one last time, leading him home through the gateway to Valhalla, its golden stairway illuminated by the spiritual bright light that nobody else could see. The white blinding light grew brighter and brighter, until finally Honz exhaled slowly and died right there in Takashi's Auto Repair shop.

Bullets whizzed by, glass raining down all around them as Omar almost ducked so low he had to crawl to evade the falling shards and ricochets from the rounds and debris. Seeing the other bloody assault rifle laying on the lobby floor, he reached out to grab the strap and pulled Honz's weapon to him, quickly ducking back behind the wall just in time to dodge another line of shots from Takashi's pump-action shotgun and Suzuki's rapidfire SMG, the bullets ripping apart the wall as they whizzed past his head on the other side. "Ahh!!!!" Omar winced in pain as a bullet nearly clipped his ear. He quickly responded, turning the corner again and firing his rifle as Takashi and Suzuki tried to take a better position. "Rat-at-at-at-at-at!!!" the tungsten tipped bullets would fly towards Suzuki and chase just behind Takashi as he ran into the garage and ducked behind his vehicle, taking cover. Omar entered the garage as he was firing and quickly took up cover behind one of the Yakuza gang's stolen box-shaped SUV's, which had been lowered with smaller tires on it. Just then, the music speakers stopped as the song ended and the automatic CD player changed disks inside the vehicle. All fell eerily quiet for a moment as everyone stopped shooting.

Omar was now sweating profusely, the black painted Fehu symbol on his face now runny and faded, but this only helped his camouflage as he reloaded one rifle and dangled it around his arm by the strap while gripping the other rifle in both hands and chambering it. "Þú berjast eins og móðir mín. Hahaha, komdu þér kisa!" Omar laughed, taunting the gang members as everyone took a moment to reflect. Before this time, Augee had crept out of the office through a sidedoor and would suddenly jump out from beside the outside wall behind Suzuki, pointing his high-powered pistol at the back of Suzuki's head. There was a slight click, followed by Augee lowering the pistol and pressing it against the Taiyou gang member's spine. "Misstu það," he suggested calmly, waiting to see the Yakuza's reaction. Augee really wasn't trying to kill him, he just didn't want to be killed.

Omar would turn to look around the back side of the SUV, but Takashi would point his shotgun over the hood of another car and shoot at him, shattering the SUV's tail light as Omar was forced to duck back. "Opnaðu augun þín meira, þú munt sjá betur," the jarl chuckled, the smell of fuel still rising into his nostrils from the gas that had sprayed him down in the cave. He held his rifle tightly and leaned against the all black SUV, contemplating his next move. It seemed that the Viking and the Yakuza had gotten themselves into a Mexican standoff, Takashi with his shotgun behind one vehicle and Omar the One-Eye now dual weilding two assault rifles behind another vehicle. The garage itself was fairly large and contained other motorcycles, cars, trucks, vans and SUV's that had all been souped up and pimped out to fit the Yakuza's needs. But the shop was closed. There were no generators running, no engines firing, no fans or other noises to disturb their moment of silence. The only thing the jarl could hear now was his own heartbeat as he tried to think.

At that moment, the CD finished switching over and the Dubstep techno music kicked back on. Omar the One-Eye would turn around the side of the SUV again, holding both Seburo c26a assault rifles, one in each hand. "Tat-at-at-at-at-at-at!!!" the hot military issued bullets shredded the whole front of the Tokura N22, their tungsten tips ripping through glass and metal alike as Omar entered a berserker rage triggered by the music in the background. The Yakuza had called in backup to help them target the ghost warriors, but the flickering lights from the flaming gases expelled from the barrels of Omar's rifles as he walked around the side of the Tokura n22 made it obvious to anyone outside that the gunshots were coming from inside the garage. The vikings were oblivious to everyone else around them as Augee kept his focus and his pistol pointed at Takashi, dozens of people now taking to the streets and trying to run away. Only a few brave souls dared to stick around, as Augee waited for Suzuki to drop his weapon.

All Takashi the Mouse saw was tunnel vision, and a hulking viking warrior charging at him like a bear. It all seemed to happen in slow motion for the Yakuza Gangster, the warrior was charging at him, and adrenaline began to course through the smaller man's body, the fight or flight reflex taking hold, urging him to do something, that something was take down this viking as quickly as possible.

All Takashi could do was react, firing the first buckshot round did nothing it seemed, and his eyes widened to the point that Honz could see the whites of his eyes in his final moments. Another shell was chambered and released with a deafening sound, but Honz still stumbled towards him, even with a melon sized hole in his gut, blown entrails, and blood spilling all over the interior of the car shop. The stench of seared flesh, gunpowder, and concrete was overpowering, suffocating to Takashi, and he wouldn't know even a moment's reprieve as the Viking warrior collapsed.

He had to move back into cover though, and quickly. Taking a moment to engage Omar with a few shotgun blasts from where he was hiding, he growled as the Jarl managed to find cover behind an SUV, particularly one of the more heavily modified variants that he was planning on taking to a bank heist. Which meant it was armored, and would provide excellent cover.

Takashi had to consider his options, his mind racing to the beat of the techno music blaring from his car.

He moved to open fire, but was only greeted with a hail of bullets that whizzed by him, and pinged against the concrete, Takashi turned briefly towards one of the counters, then he looked towards the shotgun, which was empty. Fumbling with some shells, he moved to try and reload, sliding the shells one by one into the breach of the shotgun.

Suzuki on the other hand was caught almost by surprise at the sensation of a gun being pressed against the back of his head. The man tensed up, but slowly raised his hands, and dropped the high powered machine pistol, which clattered on the ground. The man was considering his next move, his senses feeling where the weapon was, where it would be, but for now he would comply, try to lure the strange man into a sense of ease. They looked like foreigners, so Suzuki tried his best to speak. "Police come soon." He said in the thickest, Taiyou accent, his eyes briefly going up to the shafts of light that peered through the decking of the city above them. No doubt the commotion would attract undue attention, but Suzuki paused for a moment, there were no sirens in the distance.

Instead there was the faint droning of a Kenbishi Nakazawa Military Transport Helicopter moving through the polluted slums of Sector One, it's lights flickering among the dingy skies. It was escorted by two wasp like Jigabachi attack helicopters.

Suzuki looked up briefly to see the approaching helicopters, but said nothing to the man holding him hostage, not that it would matter anyway, they had to get out of here though, before the Police got there.

In a moment of silence, Suzuki called out to his comrade. "Mausu! Keikan!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, and then he whipped around, sweeping a leg under him in rapid succession to knock his captor to the ground, if successful, the young Taiyou would take off in a full sprint, signalling to the approaching gangsters that the cops were on the way. Or he would be shot in the back, and left to die.

An outburst that Takashi had to react to swiftly, with shells loaded, the Yakuza fired several more shots at the entrenched Omar, several in rapid succession at the armored SUV as he slid towards one of the side doors, Takashi was going to leave these strange burglars to whatever fate the cops would mete out to them, but he had to save Suzuki, so his attention turned to the door, and with one more shot sprayed in Omar's direction, Takashi vaulted through the blasted out window.

Takashi made swift movements towards one of the nearby sewer drains, the chop shop was dead to him now.

"Police come soon," Suzuki said with a strong Taiyou accent, just in time to see helicopter lights scanning the area. Augee pressed his gun to the back of Suzuki's head, getting ready to pull the trigger. But as he saw the lights too, he paused and glanced up for a moment to see the helicopters descending from the clouds with their spotlights scanning the perimeter.

In a moment of silence, Suzuki called out to his comrade. "Mausu! Keikan!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, and then he whipped around, sweeping a leg under himself in rapid succession to knock his captor to the ground. Augee the Archer suddenly lost his balance as his legs folded to Suzuki's sweep kick and he fell backwards, hitting his head on the concrete floor of the garage. Amazingly, he wasn't knocked out, but it stunned the Norseman long enough for the Yakuza hoodlum to get away.

Meanwhile, his partner Takashi and Omar the One-Eye were at a standoff. As the gang leader made his way to one of the armored SUVs, he fired a few more rounds at Omar before jumping in the vehicle. Omar was quick and unhesitant as he ran between two vans. All of Takashi's bullets would miss him by inches as he ran by. That is, all except for the very last bullet which tapped Omar's hip at the last second. Omar would flinch and fall back against the trunk of the seconed armored SUV, resting his head against the back bumper with his hand on his hip as Augee slowly regained himself and limped over to check on him.

Takashi and Suzuki took one last glance back at the injured ghost warriors, smiling cockily before one of them lit a cigarette and they drove away. By now, Augee and Omar could hear the helicopter blades whipping the air around the garage as they dropped down closer to the shop. Just then, they could hear someone from the helicopters yelling Taiyou jibberish over a loud speaker, likely warning them to surrender. Augee grabbed Omar by the arm and helped him to his feet. "You alright?" He asked, having seen him get shot. "I'm alright," Omar said, still wincing. "Get this thing started, will you?" Omar said sarcastically as Augee helped him into the passenger seat before running around to the driver's side. He barely had time to get in and close the door before the police started storming the building with warning shots and tear gas cannisters.

"How do you start this thing?!" Augee yelled, frantically hitting buttons and looking around for starting levers as a squad of police officers jumped out of the transport chopper and started to form a blockade around the auto repair shop, a team of four armed men with gas masks stepping through the shattered glass door at the front of the building. Large heavygunner rounds pierced the roof and ceiling, chipping baseboards and concrete, ripping through the wooden beams and drywall before being deflected by the Norsemen's stolen armored vehicle. Sparks and flashes of pings could be heard and seen from inside the SUV, before finally Augee found a key.

"A key!" He shouted. "What do I do with it?" Omar grimaced and squirmed in his chair, looking down at his hip. Augee continued to look for a way to start the SUV while Omar examined his injury. He lifted his shirt, only to see a black and purple bruise on his hip by his waistline. To his surprise and relief, the bullet had never penetrated his body, but had instead gotten lodged into his seax, embedding itself in the sheath on his belt. All it did was bruise his hip. Omar and Augee would be sore for the next few days. But if they managed to escape from the police, they might live to see another battle.

Suddenly, there was a slight click. Augee slid the key into the ignition and cranked it. Just then, the motor started up and they had horsepower. "Haha!" Augee laughed with a smile, looking at Omar before looking back at the now lit up dashboard. The police were still shooting at them and causing hell for the Yakuza streets, but inside the SUV everything was remarkably quiet, all the noise being muffled by the vehicle's modified armour. The gunshots sounded like ice cubes hitting the doors and windows, and Augee took a moment to study the lights inside the vehicle as if the police weren't even shooting at him.

"Okay, now what do I-" Augee stepped on the gas pedal and suddenly they drove backwards through the wall of the car shop, causing some of the police officers to dive out of the way. "Whoa!" Omar said. "Let's try that again, shall we?" Augee smiled, then shifted gears and threw the SUV into drive. The tires squeeled as they took off down the street, running over a stop sign as they turned the corner. "Where are we going anyway?" Augee asked, glancing up at his rearview mirror only to see half a dozen vehicles with flashing lights behind him. "Go there," Omar said, pointing up to the Seburo Industries billboard as they passed it. If the Norsemen wanted to get back to their kingdom, they would need some better weapons. Augee hit the gas and sped up down the road as the cop cars fell behind. "Look, they are slowing down. They are not following, we might just ma-" One of the attack helicopters dropped down in front of them with a spotlight pointed at the windshield. "Oh shit!" Two rotary guns started spinning, and suddenly there were hundreds of rounds being hailed directly at the grill of their vehicle. Augee whipped a left turn and drove through a narrow alleyway between two project apartment buildings. "We have to find cover" Omar said, taking the opportunity to reload all of their weapons and get prepared.

The twisting, turning alleyways of Niihama City provided a brief refuge from the police as they gave chase. Densely packed buildings kept the Jigabachi attack helicopters from giving chase. Though, the sirens of hundreds of police cars echoed through the city as the Police began their search. While they managed to elude them for the moment, diving into an alleyway, it would only be a matter of time before the SUV's GPS System is located, and hacked into.

----

Elsewhere in Niihama City
Public Security Section 9

Deep within the offices of the Public Security office, a telephone began to ring. It was a telephone inside the office of Daisuke Aramaki, the Chief and Director of Public Security Section Nine.

It took about a ring for the phone to be picked up, and the man listened to the voice on the other end. It was the Chief of Police for Niihama City's Sector One police force.

"There's been an incident at the gate, foreign agents have infiltrated the city, and our Police units have been unable to locate them."

Aramaki's lips were pulled into a tight grimace, as he listened intently to the voice on the other end.

"Thirty dead, twenty more wounded. Self Defense Army has begun to mobilize, their last known location was Expressway twelve heading to Sector Five."

"Understood." The Chief replied, before he hung up the receiver with an audible click. His tired eyes looked upwards, to the Director of the Inter-Solar System Police.

"Director Kanō; this is a public Security matter, we don't need the ISSP snooping around in jurisdiction that isn't theirs." Aramaki protested, as the Director shook his head.

"Respectfully, We're dealing with matters that concern the ISSP, the Military, and Public Security respectively." Kanō added, as he shifted in his seat, bringing one leg over another, and smoothing down the creases on his black, carefully tailored suit. Kanō stood as a contrast to the elderly Aramaki. A slightly overweight, middle aged bureaucrat against the aging, thin director.

"The solution is simple..." A third voice echoed in the office, as Director Kazundo Goda, of the Cabinet Intelligence Service stepped in seemingly from the shadows. "The Military wants to use this as justification to retaliate against the native kingdom on the other side of the gate. They've contracted a manipular legion from Argos, and are simply waiting until the time is right." Goda explained as a wicked grin crossed his face.

Pursing his lips, Aramaki spoke up. "We need to limit the damage, I'll send in my team."

"If your team fails, the Military will be forced to deploy, and cordon the whole sector off." Kano added in a note of warning.

Niihama City was a strange place. It was easy to get lost in a place this big, with so many skyscrapers and winding streets. It was nothing at all like the Norsemen's home settlement. The people were different here. The culture was different. The language was different. The food, clothing, everything was different. Omar was fumbling through the backseat of the armored black SUV when he found a suitcase. "Here, put this on" he said, throwing one of the Yakuza's tailored dress suits over the seat into Augee's lap. "What's this?" Augee asked, still trying to drive as Omar started changing in the backseat. "We have to look like them," Omar the One-Eye said, still fumbling around in the suitcase. It was at that moment that he noticed a big grey box tucked under the seat. Omar slid the box out and opened the lid, only to find the motherload. There laying neatly in the box was a bazooka, something similar in appearance to a RPG-90 grenade launcher, along with a few other weapons the Yakuza must have seized for their foiled bank heist.

Within minutes, Augee would drive the armored black SUV under a network of spiraling bridge causeways and park in a dark empty parking lot. There was gang graffiti painted on the walls underneath the bridges, and a few other broken down vehicles had been scattered about and left to rust. Off in a corner was a bum hangout, where a single metal fire barrel provided light and warmth for those souls unlucky enough to sleep under the bridges, as Augee parked the SUV and cut off the lights. As he did this, a marked police cruiser would drive by slowly, looking around with a spotlight, but they would pass the parking lot without noticing the black vehicle parked in the shadows. The Norsemen waited for the cop car to pass out of sight before they quickly got down to business. By now, Omar had finished getting changed and was beginning to look more like a Russian mobster than a medieval ghost warrior. Similarly, Augee dawned a suit and tie and was trying to figure out how to properly tie it. "Forget it, just leave it unbuttoned " Omar said as he wiped the black cammo paint off of his face and hands. Augee adjusted his collar, took the Seburo MP5 machine pistol that Omar handed him and tucked it under his coat, along with the other weapons he already had. Omar would likewise load up, stuffing his own 5.45x45mm assault rifle under his long trenchcoat before grabbing the box which contained the 103mm bazooka. With that, he spit in his hand and slicked his hair back. They were just about to walk away when suddenly, they were spotted by a patrolman on foot.

"Kon'nichiwa. Ugokanaide!" the officer said as he directed the flashlight on his handgun at the two suspicious characters in dress suits. The police officer approached Omar and Augee quickly, keeping his gun pointed at them. "Watashi ga sorera o miru koto ga dekiru tokoro de te o agero!" the officer said, causing Omar and Augee to look at one another ackwardly. Just then as the officer reached down to talk into his radio, Augee pulled out his MP5 pistol and shot him. "Tat-tat-tat!" the armor piercing rounds ripped through the officer's bulletproof vest, sending him backwards. "Pow!" the cop discharged his firearm, but hit nothing before he fell over and started bleeding to death. Augee would walk up to him slowly and kick his gun away before looking down at the dying police officer, who was choking on his own blood, looking up at him with fear in his eyes. Omar would look around quickly for an escape route before getting back into the SUV, as Augee spat on the ground. "Fuck you," he said, pointing his gun at the officer's face before pulling the trigger once more with a loud bang that would end the man's life. Augee then walked back around the SUV and hopped into the driver seat, starting the vehicle once again.

No sooner did the headlights kick on and the engine rev before more police sirens could be heard closing in. Augee pulled out of the parking lot but was prevented from the alleyway by a road block of cruisers as a dozen police cars formed a barrier around it. "Shit," he said before steering the SUV on to the causeway instead. The vikings would drive their vehicle up the ramp and on to one of the spiraling bridges along a one-way street heading north on the highway. They had no idea how to get to Seburo Industries, they just knew to follow the signs until they got there. But in jumping on the highway, they had also left the cover of the many buildings which protected them from the helicopters. Their vehicle was now exposed and would stand out like a sore thumb. Augee and Omar were now two of Niihama City's most wanted fugitives, it seemed, but their war with the police was just getting started. For every one of the Iskjerne settlers injured by Taiyou hands, these two lone Harii ghost warriors vowed to kill a hundred more of theirs, or at least put up one Hel of a fight until they both got captured or died fighting. Such was the resolve of the vikings.

"We've set up roadblocks on every major roadway leading out of the sector, the SDF deployment into the city is almost complete." A young Taiyou officer reported as he offered a crisp salute to Defense Minister Kanou.

"We've ordered the Police to stand back, and we have them on Satellite tracking, last ping had them on the Yamagashi Causeway heading into Sector Five." The man reported, gesturing to a large screen displaying a map of the region, his hands moving a long pointed stick to the icon of the armored SUV as it traveled down the roadway.

All throughout the city, Tanks, armored vehicles, and soldiers were beginning to flood into the city. Some of them came by helicopter, while others came through via Niihama City's extensive public transit system.

Omar and Augee would find the Causeway mysteriously devoid of cars as they drove along, the wide concrete road offering little obstacles between them.

However the entire city had gone into lockdown. Augee and Omar had been branded terrorists by the Taiyou Military, and they were now being hunted by both the Police, and the Self Defense Army.

Far up ahead, where there were no exits to turn off the road, a roadblock could be seen as the road twisted ahead into the denser part of the city. There were two HAW206 Multiped tanks, their tan, armor glinting in the dim light of the city. These large four-legged tanks resembled mechanical scorpions, with two 7.62mm machine-guns mounted in two small manipulator arms at the front, with the 'stinger' armed with a 105mm howitzer.

Standing in the middle of these two tanks was a Taiyou Armor-Shrike, a humanoid mecha that stood roughly twenty feet tall, it was armed with a large autocannon, which hurled 30mm Armor piercing shells.

Manning the roadblock was about a dozen Taiyou soldiers, armed with their standard issue Seburo C26a assault rifles.

As the armored SUV approached the checkpoint, the Armor Shrike lifted it's weapon, and fired a single shot at the engine block, the 30mm Armor piercing shell would make short work of the crude armor plating that had been installed by the Yakuza, and should it hit, would pierce the front grille of the truck, and the engine block lengthwise, this would cause catastrophic internal damage to the engine, bringing an abrupt halt to the SUV.

As the specially armored black SUV headed north on the highway, Jarl Omar the One-Eyed and Augee the Archer had no idea how they were going to get to Seburo Industries, they just knew to follow the road signs until they got there. They had already left Niihama City's fourth sector and were now heading into Sector 5, in the far east rich side of town where all the major Taiyou corporations and industries were, following the dark long empty highway without any traffic to slow them down. "There's another sign up ahead," Augee said calmly as he steered down the long straight road. Augee had never even seen a motorized vehicle before, much less driven one, so he wasn't aware of the purpose of all the reflecters and painted lines on the street as he drove over the dotted white line between two lanes, taking up the whole highway. As they neared the sign, they saw a large billboard with a giant building on the front of it. "Seburo Headquarters, turn left at Exit 115 in about 30 miles" Omar read out to him from the passenger seat.

All throughout the city, trained soldiers, tanks and other armored vehicles were beginning to flood into the city. Some of them came by helicopter, while others came through Niihama City's extensive public transit system. Omar and Augee would find the highway completely devoid of cars as they drove along, the wide asphalt road offering little obstacles ahead of them.

It seemed they were at the home stretch. Looking out over the night view of the city, Augee and Omar could actually see the Seburo HQ building in the distance, rising above the landscape. "There it is," Omar pointed, though it would still take another ten minutes to get there by road. Augee smiled happily with relief as they headed for the nearest ramp exit on the left, just up ahead of them a few more miles away. But their SUV would never make it that far. Between the nearest exit and them, they would soon run into complications as the NCPD had called in the Taiyou Army, who had setup a roadblock between the Norsemen and their target destination.

As the road twisted ahead of them into the denser part of Niihama City, they would suddenly see two HAW206 Multiped tanks, their tan, armor glinting in the dim light of the city. These large four-legged tanks resembled mechanical scorpions, with two 7.62mm machine-guns mounted in two small manipulator arms at the front, with the 'stinger' armed with a 105mm howitzer on the back. Standing in the middle of these two tanks was a Taiyou Armor-Shrike, a humanoid mecha that stood roughly twenty feet tall, armed with a large auto-cannon, which hurled 30mm Armor piercing shells. Also manning the roadblock with them was about a dozen Taiyou soldiers, armed with their standard issue Seburo C26A assault rifles. "Ugh, now what?" Augee scoffed as he let off the gas, heading around the bend while slowing down.

As the armored SUV approached the checkpoint, the Armor Shrike lifted it's weapon, and fired a single shot at the engine block. As the 30mm armor-piercing cannon shell flew towards them at the frontal grille of their SUV, Omar and Augee seemed to stare directly at it for a moment in awe. "Uhh, Aug... what's that?" Augee hit the gas again and tried to turn just before the armor piercing round hit the right headlight, smashing into the the side of the grille and penetrating into part of the engine. It would then ignite, shooting sparkling flames into the vehicle from the inside out, destroying the alternator, the battery, the engine block and everything in its way, even causing the front wheels to lock up. This started a chain reaction as the vehicle was still in motion when suddenly it felt like someone slammed the breaks. The armored SUV would rear up on its front tires, suddenly doing an oblique sideways somersault which sent the vehicle tumbling over and over again sideways. Omar and Augee had no choice but to roll around inside the SUV as it went barreling up the road, scratching up the street as the lanes became littered with an array of sparks, debri and shredded rubber. The heavy vehicle would roll a few more times before hitting a guardrail and coming to a complete stop, falling rightside up with all four rims on the road again.

... Dark black smoke and flames...

... Silence...

Wheels, hubcaps, nuts and bolts, wires and debri littered the entire highway from one lane to another, dark tire marks etched into the street as the damaged SUV sat parked on the side of the roadway, one of its wheels bent completely sideways as smoke rose out from the grille and the hood of the vehicle near the giant hole where the right headlight used to be. The front end was melted, as billowing smoke and flames poured forth from the engine. The vehicle was completely incapacitated and motionless, and there was no movement it appeared coming from inside the vehicle, just a road full of debri, fire and charred metal. Had the Shrike succeeded? Were the terrorists immobilized? Not quite yet. Although it was nearly impossible to see through the pitch black bulletproof windows of the SUV, the ghost warriors were not dead yet. Augee opened his eyes and looked around quietly. His suit was burned, his shoulders smoking, and his face was bleeding. He appeared to have scratched his face open on something sharp, and there was another cut going down his left arm. He had a black eye and one of his knees was scraped. On top of that, he had a few minor burns on his arms and legs. But other than that, Augee the Archer was still conscious and able to move around.

"Loki's balls, are you alright?" Augee asked. Omar just moaned quietly, trying to move around. "I think my leg's broken," he said while grabbing his shin. Sure enough, a bone was sticking out of the side his leg near the ankle. Omar would no longer be able to run, or even walk very far without some kind of assistance. He also had a scrape on his forehead, and both of his elbows were also scratched up. But apart from that, the bad half of his body was badly burned. His hair had been partially singed, blisters forming on one side of his face where skin melted down his cheek beneath the missing eye. "We have to reset it," Augee said as he removed his jacket and ripped off one of the sleeves, handing Omar a broken metal toolbar from something that had broken off inside the vehicle during the crash. "Here, bite this" he said, before Omar leaned back and closed his eyes. Augee would take Omar's ankle and shin, and then suddenly twist it with a loud snap, resetting the broken bone. Omar nearly screamed with pain as his leg snapped, but the metal toolbar between his teeth muffled his cry to that of a deep painful groan. Afterwards, Augee would use the torn jacket sleeve to dress Omar's serious leg injury, using the toolbar as a splint to help keep his leg straight. Omar would quickly push him aside and finish tying it off himself. "That'll have to do, come on" he said, gathering himself together before grabbing all of his things. The ghost warriors were still alive inside their broken down SUV, but soon they would have to open the doors and face the welcoming parade.

So close...

But still so far...

The soldiers of the roadblock watched the SUV closely after the armor shrike fired upon it. There was a deafening ping as the penetrating shell moved through the chassis, and the engine of the truck. Soldiers kept their steely eyed gaze on the SUV as it screeched to a stop on the asphalt road.

Thick black smoke plumed up from the road, accented by the lit, orange flames that erupted from the engine bay, and the passenger compartment.

Taiyou soldiers kept their position behind the pair of tanks, their weapons pointed, and readied.

They moved around the SUV, armed with ballistic shields with brilliant halogen lights mounted on the fronts. The shields read POLICE on them, but the men carrying them were anything but police officers.

They interlocked their large, rectangular shields and moved closer to the SUV. One of them pulled out a red fire extinguisher, and once he was close enough, the Soldier began to bathe the flames, and the SUV in a thick, cold white powder that began to quell the flames quickly.

The Fire extinguisher quelled much of the fire, and the soldiers quickly moved back into formation as a second combat engineer moved forward with what looked like large hydraulic operated jaws. He was going to pull the armored door from the SUV with a Jaws-of-life like device, where they could access the men trapped within.

Metal crunched as the soldier began to work on the door, and the flames began to die down as the strange powder spread everywhere.

Augee suddenly shoots Omar in the head before turning his gun on himself. "Fuck you, assholes!" he shouted loud enough for the cops to hear, before pulling the trigger and ending his own life, depriving the Taiyou of the opportunity to capture him alive.
