Description

Image

Eddie can usually be seen wearing a black jacket with a black undershirt beneath it and jeans for his lower half. All of which appear to be just his size. It is rare to see him wear anything else unless he is forced to, so people who know him usually don't expect much else.

The man's hair used to be dirty blonde, but has darkened to a brown, possibly from being dyed. He is gifted with sky blue eyes and a good complexion. He looks bigger than one would expect a pilot to be, with some definition in his arms and a six-pack hiding underneath his shirt. However, to say he is 'ripped' would be a lie, and you wouldn't know he's anything but 'big-boned' unless he's wearing a tight shirt or lacking one at all. He stands at a height of about 5'11" and weighs around 175 lbs due to muscle weight, giving him an intimidating appearance only to weaker people.

Personality

Sarcastic, loyal and kind are what most would use to describe Eddie. While in organized militaries, some dislike his sarcasm, they can't deny his piloting prowress. He occasionally lets you know that he is in fact one of the best pilots in possibly the universe...and at a younger age too. He's never one to be serious unless the situation demands it, such as the ship he's piloting being shot at or something of that importance, and can usually be expected to joke.

As a favor for most of the people he's talked to with neigh piloting slang experience, he dulls down his speech. What was once a elaborate speech on how the engines have lost their ability to draw in light and use it to propel them forward, is now "Our engines are disabled." So in other words, he speaks English.

Although he is usually seen cracking a joke and overall just being funny, he is known to be concerned and caring. Whether it is because some alien kid just lost their family due to friendly fire or because of a species treatment of its own due to something small like being born (think of Shariva's attitude towards females, which is one of his softer spots)

He dislikes racism, cowardice and threats towards those he deems as friends or crewmembers and won't hesitate to back them up, even if they don't have the best of dispositions towards each other. This holds especially true to female crew members or ones who don't seem to be able to defend themselves. Eddie can be known to act chilvarous and does NOT allow harmful and aggressive actions towards his crew, females and especially his female crewmembers go without punishment. Also happens to be on of the few times you can see him in an angry demeanor.

If you want to get on his good side, you can either accept his sense of humor and try to get him to laugh genuinely, make good food for him (IDA didn't have the best rations...), or you can TRY to beat him in a game. He is a gamer when he isn't piloting a ship or working out. Overall, just be nice and funny and he won't have the slightest problem with you.

Eddie suffers from an INTENSE dislike, no... hate for Artificial Intelligence. Ever since he lost his friends due to one, he's dispised them greatly, and gets aggressive nearly instantly with them. Needless to say, Eddie doesn't harbor any good feelings towards androids or other robotic 'nuisances' either. He could care less about them.

Finally, Eddie has been seen with symptoms of both PTSD and depression most likely due to his past losses. He often has nightmares about the time his ship was attacked and he had lost his friends and this leads him to feel very down and unhappy. He tries to make sure not to bother others with it, though it does get to the point where putting on a fake smile becomes impossible and therefore he cannot hide it.

Sidenote: Eddie, because of human evolution, can become very aroused, strawberries seemingly a trigger to a gun you don't want to pull.

Equipment

The Modicar "Adaptive Warfare Pistol" or AWB is Eddie's sidearm of choice. It is basically a small railgun that can in fact be adjusted to shoot anything metallic, given it is small enough. It has its own ammo, which is more effective than picking something up and using it, but he can use coins and other smaller items with deadly stopping power.

History

At the ripe, young age of sixteen, Eddie applied for the New Gaiyain Pilot's Corp and passed with flying colors. After that, well... He took up a job offered in the Intergalactic Defense Academy where he learned his share of combat skills and further improved his reputation as a pilot. When he was 24, he saved not only himself, but his ship and crew when they took disabling fire to their ship. The captain at the time had been knocked unconcious during the first attack and the person to take up his position were killed.

It was only a little while later that they were attacked by a rogue A.I that had commandeered assualt-class mechs and automated ships. The attack was very severe and Eddie not only lost every single one of his best friends, he lost his captain, with whom he shared a great friendship with. But that wasn't all. Because of that attack, Eddie dispises any form of Robotic Intelligence and is aggressive to the point of acting much out of character when faced with much exposure to them. On top of that, he suffers from nightmares that make him relive those last moments with his deceased friends and crewmates, to the point where he gets very, very depressed or even frightened for a bit.

So begins...

Crew Needed!!

Captain of the Nightwing is looking for eight able body members to join the crew.
Will be traveling across the galaxy to an undiscovered planet in the Shivani System.

Captain Oris will be at Pashani Inn on the planet Phenz in the system Coriv on the 18th to accept applications and hire crew.
If you wish to be hired, you must show up on the day or your application will be null and void.

"Hmmm?"

Eddie was reading through the ad once more, with feeling. He felt he needed a break from piloting, but in the end, he longed for it. Seeing this as an opportunity to fly without AS MUCH restriction as in the force, he gladly walked up to the Pashani Inn and opened the door. He did not however, decide to get on the floor and walk the dinosaur, thinking it'd be better to save that for later.

A quick scan of the place told him who he was looking for, a woman who was with another man-dog thing. He changed from a man to a dog, so he could only assume that the person was a Metamorphite. The only one Eddie ever met was... hostile. Needless to say, it was kill or be killed and Eddie wasn't exactly sure how he wasn't the dead one in the situation. But, they weren't normally aggressive, so he had no worry. He walked up to the two, hoping it wasn't just a girl and her date and smiled.

"Captain Oris?" he asked with the previous thought in his mind. "I'm here for your position for a pilot..."

"Captain Oris? I'm here for your position for a pilot..."

Regina eyed the young man, making no sign to hide her eyes scanning from his feet to his head. He was young, and he looked human. She didn't trust appearances anymore, especially after knowing Colin as long as she's have. She glanced down at her list, there was only one name left for pilot.

"Eddie Ackers?" She questioned looking up at him. He nodded.

She leaned back on her chair, the front legs popping up. It was a habit from when she was in school. "Well, Mr. Ackers." She said crossing her arms over her chest. "Tell me a little bit about yourself."

She leaned forward, the front legs slamming down onto the wood flooring. She took a sip of her alcohol, never removing her gray eyes from his face.

While normally, he'd feel uncomfortable being 'eye raped' as he called it, she was recruiting him and he was used to this treatment from his superiors. So, he stood still, as if he was being scanned by a machine until he felt she was done.

"Eddie Ackers?"

"In the flesh." he spoke. He didn't commit himself to watching the whole process of her propping herself back. She seemed much less laidback than any of the other recruiters, but then again, she wasn't in a military.

"Tell me a little bit about yourself."

He sat down across from the two, his eyes dragging on the un-named man next to her before resting on her gray eyes. He decided against mimicking her because he figured she might think he was doing it to mock her.

"Well, I've passed NGPC with exception skill, or so I was told. Once I finished there, I was offered a good spot in the IDA where I stayed in service for eight years, approximately before ending up here." he informed, then throwing a bulky folder on the table. "If you want specifics, here they are. I've not only proven myself as a pilot, but I am pretty qualified to shoot stuff too."

Food....

Colin grinned and looked over the girl who had approached. Reg was busy with the pilot kid, so Colin figured he would take care of this new girl. She looked human, but her bright green eyes told a different tale. He smiled at her as he scooted over to where she was standing. He eyes the contasiner on the counter...

He picked it up. He inspected it as he pulled off the top. They werent nearly infamous enough to run the risk of bing poisoned, but you never know. He selected a pastry from inside and calmly took a bite. His eyes widened and he put the pastry down on a napkin. Chocolate. He swallowed and gave a satisfied sigh. "That... was delicious." He wasnt a fan of the earthly creation. but he was sure they would be well enjoyed by the people of the ship. He made eye contact wth her and held his hand out.

He was extremely fond of handshakes. It gave him a reason to touch someone and add a new species to his repitoire. "My name is Colin Seartjik, Second in Command of the Nightwing." He wasnt quite sure what role this woman planned to play. but as long as she continued to bake things like this she was good in his eyes. "You are?" Hopefully the cook, he answered inside his head.

"Well, Eddie," Reggie said flipping through the files. "You have some very good credentials," She flipped the folder closed, setting it back down on the table. She smiled at Eddie, wanting to feel a little less nervous.

He had gotten the job, there was no doubt about that. She looked over at Colin, he was flipped through the files now. "He looks pretty good, huh?" Reggie asked. Colin nodded his head in approval. "And another IDA graduate. He's perfect for our little misfit crew." She smiled looking back over at Eddie.

"Well, Eddie. Welcome to the Nightwing." She said holding out her hand for him to take. They were interrupted when Colin suddenly stood and ran over to the bar, where a young woman was standing.

Judging by her red hair, red skin, and bright green eyes, she was most likely a Shar. But given her humanistic apperance, she was a Shariva. Colin immediately sniffed a green container on the bar and took a pastry out from it. So, the woman brought food. No wonder Colin had moved so quickly. Reggie rolled her eyes. "We've rented rooms for anyone who is hired, so you may go upstairs and relax if you want. Food is on the house if you're hungry." She said to Eddie as her chair slammed back down onto all four legs of her chair.

She kicked the chair back as she stood before moving to the other side of the Shariva, who was talking animatedly about food. Reggie grabbed one of the pastries, eyeing the small round concoction. She knew the smell anywhere. Chocolate. She shoved it into her mouth, relishing in the delicious flavor. It was like eating pure happiness.

Regina grabbed the Shariva's attention, wiping her hands on her legs. "Please tell me you're here for the cook position."

"Well, Eddie. Welcome to the Nightwing."

Before he could give his captain a shake of the hand, her Lietenant, as Eddie believe, had distracted her. With the handshake being interrupted, he spoke up. "I have a feeling I was probably the only one that sounded trustworthy with a ship." he spoke with a grin. "Nevertheless, I am glad to be a part of this crew."

A yawn before a stretch took place before he pushed himself back and stood up from the chair, pushing it back in. With the day almost over and his room being provided from him, he had no reason to leave the inn. He wasn't tired yet, so he decided to take a seat in a nearby table as they seemed to hire a cook. Convenient... he was actually pretty famished from the trip over here and his inability to eat without emptying his stomach all over the place. Traveling lightyears in mere hours is fun.

It seemed as smart as any other idea to get himself aquiented with the other crewmembers as soon as possible, and the cheerful Shariva didn't seem to intimidating. The fact that she was so up and happy about life was a surprise given her race's history and the fact she was in fact as she. He had no doubt that her family didn't really take well to the fact that they had a female and the new pilot of the Nightwing did happen to feel some pity towards the beautiful creature.

He soon noticed that his eyes might have been drilling holes into her and decided to greet her. Walking up, he wore a smile and took in her features before introducing himself.

"Hello there." he said. "I'm Eddie, the pilot."

He proposed a handshake.

Inqueta was watching everyone as they came in for their interviews. She watched the failures, and felt Captain Oris's annoyance and disappointment. She understood that this had to have been extremely frustrating. She opened up her ears to listen to the conversations between Oris and Colin. It wasn't that she didn't like Colin, but she was already wary of him. He was a metamorphite, and undoubtedly, he would try to touch her, to be able to mimic her capabilities. She also listened to the conversations Oris had with everyone that was interviewed. A man named Eddie was to be their pilot. Captain Oris seemed to liked him well enough, and his files looked good. Inque nodded, satisfied with who was going to be flying the ship. Next came the cook. She was a beautiful girl with a look of determination on her face. Her red hair matched her gorgeous rosey skin. The food Minn had prepared looked delicious, and Inque's mouth watered enviously as she watched Oris eat them. The girl was a Shar, and seemed pretty harmless. The blue girl's suspicions of Colin proved to be right when he shook the cute girl's hand. His skin turned the same shade of red as hers was when he turned into a Shar. Inqueta watched him walk back over to the Captain.

A Tourain stood by the captain, and no sooner than Inque saw him, Colin had changed into his own form of one. She didn't have to open her ears more to listen to him speak. In fact, she closed a few of the micro-slits, because his voice was booming. Captain Oris seemed impressed with him, so Inqueta didn't feel the need to pay attention anymore. She directed her focus to a red-headed girl and a man who had just introduced himself as Dr. Weiss. She assumed he was there for the position of doctor, but she wasn't sure if the girl was there to apply or not. She assumed, once again, that she was, just because the bar was pretty much empty of anyone else. She made a small clicking noise with her tongue and slid from the booth she had been hiding in. She silently made her way up to the Captain's table, knowing no one could hear her. If they weren't too engaged with the Tourain, named Val Salah As Tallan, they might have seen her, considering she made her skin blue as she walked over there. She intended to stay a few steps away, close enough to make her presence known, but far enough to give them space and not be rude, interrupting Val's interview. She practiced what she would say in her head.

One handshake from the second in command had shown Minn what he was and she stared at the male version of herself, mouth opening slightly. He was attractive and she mentally giggled, checking herself out in a sense. At least she could die knowing she would have been a handsome male Shar, just like her father had wanted. as he walked away, a frown crept onto her features, but only momentarily. Her family was forbidden to enter her thoughts. Today was a good day.

Then another handshake was proposed, a human by all appearances. He had introduced himself as Eddie and Minn smiled brightly, switching her wooden spoon to her other hand to return the handshake. "I'm Minn. I would offer a danish but..." She glanced to the captain. "They've been claimed." She let out a giggle, sizing up Eddie and tilting her head slightly to the side. "What position are you working? My life's in your hands in way or another."

She motioned for them to take seats at the end of the bar, hoping she could get to know her crewmates quickly and well. Excitement spilled from her and she sat as straight as she could to appear dedicated and strong. She was dedicated, not so much strong. Lifting cake tins for fun didnt exactly create muscles.

"I'm Minn. I would offer a danish but..." She glanced to the captain. "They've been claimed."

"Regrettable." he smiled. Actually, he did regret not snagging one, but it couldn't be helped.

"What position are you working? My life's in your hands in way or another."

Apparently, he mumbled his introduction. "I am your pilot..." he said with a bold voice for an added effect. "...and your life is in good hands." he smiled. He didn't really think much of it until he was piloting a ship, which would then put him in the position to brag as he saved their lives from hostile forces or a star going supernova. Well, the supernova might be a little hard to escape, but they didn't know that.

She led them to a table at the end of the bar and sat down straight, looking determined. He couldn't really keep up with her enthusiasm when he took his seat. However, the chairs in a IDA-Issued Nebula Class Frigate did keep his posture up a little bit.

"My life is in your hands as well; I can't really survive with bad cooking now, can I?" he gave a genuinel warmer smile. "I don't expect high class foods, but I could tell that those danishes weren't the only thing you can make. Just let me have the first bite of the first meal you make once we're aboard."

Inqueta saw that he felt embarrassed and felt badly about this. Nevertheless, she pushed the though aside. "Well, Miss To'avuor," Her name, though pronounced correctly, sounded weird coming off of his tongue, in English without her own accent. "Welcome." He copied what she had done to greet him and she was pleased. "We have rented out rooms for all of you, so if you'd like to stay, be my guest." He smiled and it was infectious. She liked his smile, and it made her lips twitch upward slightly. It was something most likely unnoticeable to others. He made another bow after saying "We ship off tomorrow morning. I look forward to working with you." Then he turned and walked away.

"And I, you." She said and strode away, towards the bar. She ordered a nonalcoholic drink and downed it quickly. She asked for a refill before taking a seat near Minerva and Eddie. "Eddie. Minn, I am Inqueta. I am on of the Nightwing's scouts." She gave the same greeting to them as she gave Colin." She filtered her ears to only sounds made near her, and so she could hear Colin and Reggie.

"Eddie. Minn, I am Inqueta. I am on of the Nightwing's scouts." a schael introduced herself with a noticeable accent as she sat near Eddie and Minn.

"Well, I'm Eddie Ackers, as you apparently already know," he smiled awkwardly at her display, not used to her race's signature greeting. "I guess I will be your pilot, if you don't already know that....." he gave a slight cough, not sure what he could really say at the moment, as she apparently already knew about him, or at least his name.

He was glad he had a chance to meet her species beforehand, as he remembered staring at the slits....the slits....the many slits on one before. He'd rather not have that embarassing moment where they call him out on it happen again, either. Pushing that memory aside, he regained his mental composure.

"I guess you'll have to admire my piloting skills when we finish recruiting," he said for no other reason than to speak. He didn't like doing so, but he hated silence more than anything.

A schael, how exciting! She performed her species' greeting and introduced herself as one of the scouts. Minn smiled at her accent, watching her intently from pure excitement. So many new faces were here. Being sheltered as Minn was (she purposely avoided the memories of her cage-like "bedroom" if you could call it that) seeing so many new kinds of aliens was exhilarating.

Eddie attempted to speak, but obviously only for the sake of making sounds. Minn had a difficult time with words as well, wondering how to address the schael when she already seemed to know them. She shrugged though, pasting on her smile again and happily asking, "What kind of dishes do you like eating? I know all sorts but specifics are needed with such a...diverse crew." She giggled a little, glancing around. "Just know that our pilot here gets the first dish made."

“Hi guys, I’m Arc, I’m the weapons expert. Umm... I hope for all of us to get along well.”

Eddie wore a smile on his face that said he was clearly happy with this. He wasn't racist, but he felt indefenitely more comfortable with another human on the ship, and especially since she would probably be the one holding weapoons. After a scan of her, he extended his arm to greet his new human ally. That made two.

"Hello there," he said. "Welcome to the Nightwing, I guess. My name is Eddie, and I'll be flying the ship and making sure we don't crash into anything.... hopefully," he added the last part as a joke just to mess with the others. If Eddie ended up dying due to a crash, he'd be horribly embarassed, as that would be such a horrible mistake and a rookie one as well.

All they really had to do now was have the patience for misses boss-woman to get done filling in the spots for the team, which appeared to be just about done. While he didn't mind much, he did take note that this would be his first time working under a woman captain. They weren't really a common sight anywhere, but he'd soon find out if she was deserving of the position or not.

Hopefully she was, because if she wasn't... it could mean the end of the crew.

Arc listened as Eddie, Cassy and Minn introduced themselves as a pilot, scout and cook respectively. Her eyes glassed over as she stared nowhere in particular, absorbing the new information she had presented with. Arc then look back at them and beamed as if having a private joke with herself. It only took a second though for her to begin sharing her thoughts with her new crew mates.

“Well, by the looks of it I have found my two favourite people on this ship. Well, two of my top three favourite people, the Metamorphite over is in defiantly in my top three.” Arc said merrily while nodding and over to Colin. She had a particularly positive opinion on Metamorphites. She had seen enough of the universe and other species to know never to lump all species together. She couldn’t help it though, she had only ever met one Metamorphite which was a positive experience. Being able to turn into any other species excited her and was something she was slightly jealous of seeming as though she had lived on so many planets with so many different species.

“No offense Cassy, but Eddie here is controlling the my roof and Minn is giving me my meals, and well, those were the two reasons I took this job. So I only have a few requirements for you guys to know about. Eddie; try not to throw us around to much and please do your best to keep my roof firmly attached to the rest of the ship.” Arc said lightheartedly, her attention now back on the group.

“And you my friend,” Arc continued turning to face Minn while giggling slightly. “Everything will be great with me so long as you keep the food edible, yeah?” Arc said giving a wink towards the Shivari.

“Oh, and Cassy, don’t think I forgot you; all I want you to do is to not even consider complaining about weapons.” Arc said brightly. She was already excited about the prospect of leaving this planet; she was bored of it. She had been here a few months and decided there was nothing really here that piqued her interest.

"...Eddie; try not to throw us around to much and please do your best to keep my roof firmly attached to the rest of the ship.”

"I can't guaruntee anything if you guys put me in a bad mood," the new pilot teased with a laugh. It's not like he'd actually do something like that, but hey, they didn't know him yet. With another glance around the people at the table, he was definetly reminded that humans were not going to be the only thing on this trip. What with the squid eyes, the random slits on the girl's head and just about everything else there to prove it, human's were to be the minority on this trip comparing them to aliens.

However, this only slightly bugged Eddie. It wasn't that he was racist, but he just felt better if he was with more humans. So far, there were two besides him, both female. While he had no problem with this, he did long for a guy to hang out with. Odds are, none of the male members of the ship met the personality requirement that Eddie had for a fun person to talk to. Well, it couldn't be helped.

"...And don't doubt Minn." he added for no reason in general. "All I had to do was smell what she was cooking and I could tell it was delicious. On that note, let me remind you guys I called dibs on the first things she makes,"

A slam on the bar tore Eddie's attention from anything else. The cause of this noise? His new captain. Apparently, she had finished interviewing for the crew and was now celebrating. His eyes followed her as she made her way out of the Inn, and for some reason, he followed her. At first, he felt like a stalker, seeing as he wasn't following her for any reason except for the sake of following her.

When she stumbled after breaking out into a random sprint, he decided to actually make his presence known and spoke up. "You must've been in the Inn for quite a while if you're that excited," he laughed and figured he should explain himself before she got the wrong idea. "I was wondering if I could get a general gyst of my new CO, if you don't mind,"

Reggie spun around at the sound of Eddie's voice, he must have been following her for quite some time, especially if he had seen her stumble across her injury. "You must've been in the Inn for quite a while if you're that excited. I was wondering if I could get a general gyst of my new CO, if you don't mind."

"What can I say, I don't like to be cooped up for too long." She explained shrugging her shoulders. "I need to move, to exercise, something. Sitting for too long, waiting, makes me antsy." She limped over to him, but kept a smile on her face. "Walk with me Eddie Ackers. Maybe I'll let you see my ship."

She led him further into town, knowing every back road and path. After being discharged from the Intergalactic Defense, Reggie was sent to this planet. Phenz. It was a planet with a likeness to Earth, and was establish as a New Earth for humans. Although its original inhabitants were reluctant to give full rights to humans, that had to share. Even then, most humans were sent to different like Earth planets to find a stable home, but each one never being strictly human.

As they got further into town, Reggie showed Eddie the land cruiser that would take certain crew from the Nightwing down to planets. Since all large ships had to be docked in certain stations, or left orbiting in space. "I fly this sucker," She said tapping the side of the white cruiser. "She's been through a few bumps and scrapes, but my great grandfather taught me to fly this when I was 10 years old."

She smiled at Eddie. Although he was her pilot, she quite enjoyed flying. After all, she was the one who piloted the Nightwing here in the first place. That and she had help from MAK. She perked up, remembering she should probably mention the artificial intelligence program that was on the ship.

"Eddie, how do you feel about artificial intelligence?" She asked looking up at the stars. She spotted the dock where the Nightwing was, just able to make out it's shape. Then again, she had been staring up at the glorious aircraft since she was 3 and a half. She could tell the lines anywhere. To someone who had never seen it, like Eddie, it would like a strange shadow in the sky. He wouldn't be able to spot the beauty that Reggie had already committed to memory.

"Just wondering, because a while back, an artificial intelligence was added to my ship. He has done wonders for it, and is very informative." She explained. "But you'll be working with him a lot, since he will help pilot when needed."

Eddie kept his gaze from Reggie's lower half as he figured she might think it rude. It wasn't as if he hadn't seen someone with an injury before, he just had a short nothing else to do to keep his eyes entertained. When she told him that she 'might' let him see her ship, he could only chuckle before replying to her. "I'd really hope so. I mean, I know a pilot isn't supposed to be involved with the ship at all, but I appreciate you bending the rules for me," he paused before speaking again. "And please, just Eddie if you will,"

Eddie happened to be surveying the unfamiliar area with his eyes as Reggie led him through the town. Phenz, as the planet was named, was an unfamiliar planet to him. Sure, he read up on it before actually coming to it, but he never had a chance to visit it before, and his curious glances everywhere betrayed this fact to anyone watching.

"I fly this sucker," She said tapping the side of the white cruiser. "She's been through a few bumps and scrapes, but my great grandfather taught me to fly this when I was 10 years old."

He frowned. "This is your ship? I figured it would be a bit bigger...." he trailed off. If he hadn't cracked a smile a couple seconds after saying that, one would think he was completely serious. "Hmm..." he pondered for a second before smiling and then speaking. "You must be a capable pilot, and your shapeshifting buddy must be one as well," he observed. "So, why do you need a pilot?" he asked curiously before holding his hand up to stop her from speaking. "Because of my devilishly good looks, right? Or my skills...."

"Eddie, how do you feel about artificial intelligence?"

"Uh..." he wasn't sure how to respond exactly.

"Just wondering, because a while back, an artificial intelligence was added to my ship. He has done wonders for it, and is very informative." She explained. "But you'll be working with him a lot, since he will help pilot when needed."

He sighed, but kept a smile before telling her his truthful answer. "I can honestly say I don't have a positive opinion on them. On the planet Naxas, I lost most of my ship to a rogue A.I. This was back when I was only qualified to be a co-pilot, and couldn't really do much to help. Thankfully, my captain at the time, Darrious T Miller, saved us from it. However, I was then attacked on another mission by a similar AI that took control of live weapons testing dummies," he informed showing slight signs of discomfort.

"Rogue A.I's ended up being one of the top spots for stuff that tried to kill me in the Defense, so I'm not really fond of them," he rubbed his chin, which was actually something he did when stressed. Contrary to his tone, which only showed a bit of discomfort, he really didn't like talking about his fallen comrades. But, he felt a need to explain himself, so this was an exception to a normally off-limits topic. "BUT, I'm okay with working with one. Just don't be surprised if I'm a bit jumpy towards it at first,"

Reggie listened to Eddie's story, unfortunately her thoughts had cut off his question on why she needed a pilot. She couldn't help but smile when he asked if the land cruiser was her ship. This tiny thing? She laughed. As he mentioned rogue A.I's, she nodded along. Her original concerns when MAK was first installed being voiced once again by her new pilot.

"I completely understand." Reggie said once he finished. "I was very cautious at first on getting MAK. But he's proved a very good asset. And I can disable him from a remote location, that he doesn't have access too. Ideally, if he does go rogue. We should be able to shut him down, without any worries."

She looked at him. "Ideally."

"And to answer your earlier questions, before I cut you off. This is not The Nightwing. She's up there. Waiting patiently for our return." She said pointing up to the sky. "If I'm feeling up to it, I'll fly you up there for a brief fly around. She's a beautiful ship."

"And I need a pilot because, as wonderful as I am at flying, I can't be a good captain and lead the crew, while piloting the Nightwing. I need someone to fly her if there's no docking stations. And definitely someone to keep an eye on things while Colin and I are off traversing through unknown planets."

"....Ideally."

He gave a smile. "Well, that makes me feel just a bit better, if anything," he said. "Just keep him away from the airlock controls," he laughed a bit, showing her he wasn't too serious about it.

"And to answer your earlier questions, before I cut you off. This is not The Nightwing. She's up there. Waiting patiently for our return." She said pointing up to the sky. "If I'm feeling up to it, I'll fly you up there for a brief fly around. She's a beautiful ship."

Eddie followed her finger up in the sky, noticing something wrong with the sky, but unsure what it was. He looked back down and at her. "I can tell she's beautiful," he remarked sarcastically and then listened to her explaination as to why she needed his piloting skills. "Well, I guess that's good enough for me. Then again, I'm not going to complain about having a job,"

"Anyways, all this talk about a beautiful ship is making me curious. Are you going to tease this space-farer for much longer, or can I have a peek at my new home for the time I'm with you?"

"Anyways, all this talk about a beautiful ship is making me curious. Are you going to tease this space-farer for much longer, or can I have a peek at my new home for the time I'm with you?"

Reggie smiled mischievously at Eddie. She hit a button on the side of the land cruiser and the door slid open. "Climb aboard." She climbed in and stepped aside, making room for him. The cruiser wasn't made for size and comfort, but for quick trips to planets. It could hold a good chunk of people, all the people Reggie had just hired, but not much more.

She climbed into the pilot's seat, harnessing herself in. Eddie took the seat next to her, and strapped himself in as well. She hit a button above her and the door slid closed, sealing the airlock. She pressed a few more buttons, flicking a few switches, and sliding the lever by her right hand all the way down. The cruiser roared to life, it's entirety lifting off the ground.

"Hang on." Reggie said. "Woman driver and all." She laughed at her joke, as she slammed the cruiser into full speed and shooting it up towards the stars. She loved the feeling of flying, the exhilaration as her body was pressed to her seat from the speed. She couldn't help but cheer as they shot through the atmosphere.

After finally reaching the stars, she eased up on the speed, letting the cruiser slow down to a more manageable pace. Reggie laughed, excited to be flying and off the ground for the first time in the past two days. She circled the docks on the outer atmosphere of the planet before finally finding her ship. The Nightwing was a lot larger than the size of the crew that Reggie had hired. But thanks to MAK, she didn't have to hire as many people. It had a large rounded front that slowly dwindled down to a straight line. Kind of like an awkward spoon.

"There she is, that's the Nightwing."

"She's a beaut," he remarked with an Scottish accent taking place. Not that he was scottish, he just liked taking random accents whenver he felt the urge to do so. The ship was actually pretty big for the size of her crew. Eddie could only assume that the AI would be taking the place of all of the other positions, and he didn't really feel the most comfortable about that. However, he wasn't going to wuss out just because.

Taking in what he could from his position, he turned to Reggie and wore a warm smile, which was probably because he himself was excited. "If you don't mind me asking, how'd you obtain such a fine vessel? She doesn't look like something you just buy, or at least not at any place I've seen recently,"

While he only seemed a bit excited on the outside, he was by all intents and purposes, fangirling on the inside. He really just wanted to jump into the ship and head straight for the cockpit and zoom up and down the galaxy in this thing. Maybe sound a bit childish for a man, but he really did like the ship, and flying it was a causing a min fit of happiness.

His smile might've shown this a bit as his lips curved upwards just a bit different than usual.

Reggie couldn't help but feel the excitement coming off of Eddie. "...how'd you obtain such a fine vessel? She doesn't look like something you just buy, or at least not at any place I've seen recently."

Reggie laughed. "Definitely not. Remember that great grandfather that I told you about. The one that taught me to fly. This was his ship. He left it to me after he passed." She explained flying around the ship to give Eddie a better look. "I've fixed it up over the years, of course, making it a bit more advanced. Giving it updates. But she's been in my family for generations."

After circling the ship a few more times, and pointing out key features were. Like the cockpit, located on the center ring of the ship. Or where the crew's quarters were, and the captains quarters. Reggie decided to land the cruiser back on the small planet and head back to the Inn. She couldn't wait for tomorrow to arrive, and she could show the rest of the crew her ship.

She wished she could get to sleep and having the morning come quickly, but knew she wouldn't be able to fall asleep at all from excitement. They headed back to the inn, a comfortable silence falling over the two.

"I hope this undiscovered planet is Earth." Reggie said quietly as she stared up at the stars. "I want nothing more but to be able to say that I found our home. I discovered our last history. That's my great grandfather wanted, and his father before him, and his father before him. That's how the Nightwing became a part of our family. The Oris' have spent a better part of their lives searching for the lost human history."

"And I plan to be the one to find it. For my father, my grandfather, and my great grandfather. He would want it the most. He always wanted his ashes to be buried in the Earth's soil, y'know."

She smiled thinking about the old man, and his crazy stories. "Sorry, I'm rambling. I do that sometimes."

"Sorry, I'm rambling. I do that sometimes."

"Don't be," he said. "You've got your goal in life already in mind and a means to accomplish that. That's more than I personally could ever hope for," he smiled, taking in a deeper breath. "I am a pilot by heart. I know this as truth. However, being a pilot is only part of a goal. I have yet to fully realize what I want in life, and my young adulthood isn't going to be here forever,"

He looked straight up for a minute, not speaking or really reacting to anything. His head slowly returned to normal leve. "I actually envy that. I guess for now, I'll be helping you reach your goal. Hmm, maybe I'll find one while we do though..." he seemed a bit more 'distant' when he spoke. This was actually something he thought of a lot. It was a temporary goal; to figure out his real goal. Ironic, isn't it?

"That's actually my main reason for joining this. Action, drama and explosions are fun and all, but they take a backseat to purpose," he stopped for a minute and started again. "Now it seems like I am rambling..."
