Wes Warden

"I know what I'm doing ...really."

0 · 449 views · located in Ocean hunters

a character in “The ocean hunters”, as played by SugarNspikeS

Description

Name: Wes Warden
Age: 23
Race: Surface dweller
Occupation: Artifact hunter/researcher
Basics: 6'1", 170 lbs, Brown hair, Grey eyes
Equipment: Personal solar/steam powered boat, collapsible harpoon gun, artifact journal, necklace with a strange emerald pendant (family heirloom)

Background Information:

Wes was born into this strange world, like so many others, without a clue about the world that humanity had sacrificed in the name of progress. He was raised in the harbor of one of the raft cities in the Pacific. He grew up like many of the other children, but he had a very strong curiosity about the world that came before. Whenever the bartering Deep dwellers came to the surface, Wes would always be first in line to find something from the past that he could trade for. His fascination with the past went from an interest to a hobby to a career to an obsession. He now travels the globe in search of relics and artifacts from the past. While most people are content to stay in the cities and islands where they're born and struggle to survive, Wes searches for any and all information that could explain what happened to the world, what the giant monsters from the deep want, and how to kill them.

So begins...

The seas were everywhere, not a speck of land could be found. Here in the East Pacific was a large harbor city, the capital of the local ocean. Within were traders, merchants, fishermen, and people of many different histories and stories to tell. In one such part of the city was a merchants square, this is where Samael currently was to bring in his latest haul of fish to sell.

He spoke to him like he knew the man well, being surface dwellers they were used to this kind of commerce.

Wes pulled his steam powered boat into the dock city. He'd been away for a few months, but it had been a fruitful journey. He had managed to get his hands on several relics on this trip which he planned to trade, well at least a few of them, the others he still planned on studying.

After tying up his boat to the docks, Wes stepped off with a large canvas sack thrown over his back. He walked past Samael and Jupiter.

"Sam!" He greeted with his typical big smile. "Long time no see. How's business these days? Remind me to stop by your stand later, I got something you might be interested in. I'll also need to stock up on fish for my next trip." He said as he passed by and headed to the market square to do some trading of his own if he could find some one interested.

  1. FYI when I said he had a fruitful journey, I meant he was able to get a lot of relics, fruitful didn't mean literal fruit

Jupiter smiled at Samuel's joke about the sea folk hearing her. "I won't be surprised if they are watching our every movements." She replied with a genuine smile. She looked out at the sea and recalled a time she was first beaten up by the other kids her age because she was different. She shook the imagine of that horrible day out of her head as another gentleman came by and greeted Samuel. After he continued on with his way, her eyes fell back to Samuel. "It was nice chatting with you. Be safe out there." She told him before she skipped away, rushing to her boat which was still in vision and probably conservation from Samuel's boat.

Jupiter made her way inside her little house, putting the food she had just gotten away in their little cabinet space. She secured the cabinets with rope that was mounted in the hard wooden walls of her tiny house. She had her giant cloth door to her one room open, her small bed was folded away so the room didn't appear to look like a bedroom. This was one of her favorite boats, her mother always told her to have a back up, sadly Jupiter's back up didn't have a living courtiers for her, so she'd have to return to her mother's home everyday.

"Aye, a safe journey to you." He spoke those last words to her before she departed, getting his own boat ready to go. His boat was quite a relic for the time, a bit beaten up but looked seaworthy enough to last for months.

Wes quickly found his way to a small stand at the center of town with the other shopkeepers. Another young man about his same age was tending to the stand and greeted Wes with a big smile.

"Wes! Good to see ya, man. You tell the boss that you're back yet?" The guy asked.

"Hey Tony! No, not yet. I just pulled in. I was hoping to get back out as soon as possible, I got some good leads on the legendary beasts and some possible information from the old world. I'm just stopping here to do some trading and get enough food to make the journey."

"Better let him know you're here or he'll charge you double for rental space."

"On my way there now." Wes smiled as he found his way to a small little shanty where he just walked in. The door opened into an office where a short fat little man sat going over paperwork.

"Ah, hello Wes. Back from your last journey I see. Did you find anything good?"

"Yup, just here looking to rent a stand for about two weeks at the most. Gonna unload then get back out there."

"Well what have you got for me?"

Wes took the bag off his shoulder and rummaged through it before he pulled out a small, grey, rectangular, plastic device with a small square in the center made of a transparent plastic. He set the thing down on the desk.

"According to my source, this was a portable electronic video game device called a 'Game Boy'. A cartridge with a game would be inserted into the slot on the back and a video game would appear on the screen."

The fat man picked up the device and looked it over.

"Okay, this should cover a few weeks of rent. You can take stand 4-B."

"Thanks boss." He said before leaving the office and heading to his stand and spreading his treasure across it.
