Introduction
The two twin boys had been named Mana and Rune, meaningless words at the time of their naming. Their sister had been named Wicca. Now, this was just a normal family. The two brothers would practice the sword every day. Their sister would read books, and then boast about her knowledge to her brothers, who would essentially learn what she had. Mana was filled with energy, and was always the quick attacker, while Rune was patient, and calculating, always having ideas of how to upgrade things or set traps.
Now, then something happened one day. Someone came while they were out in the fields, and slaughtered both their parents for gold. Now, most children would just cry, or report it to soldiers. But these children, they did something different. Someone unexpected. They plotted, and they planned. And on a harvest full moon, when a meteor known as "Heaven's eye" passed in front of it, they wished and prayed with all their emotions powering it up. They did it in the very home their parents had died in.
Now, normally, nothing would have happened. But this time, something did happen. Its as if the wall between the world of the gods and the world of men came down, and the power and the energy of the gods poured through into these children. Now, the gods were mad, but they were also understanding. So they cursed the children. They would not age a single day, forced to remain children forever, but their magical abilities would be incredibly powerful.
Rune would be especially good at elemental abilities and enchanting, as well as creating magically infused items using the written language called Runic. (the objects themselves would later be called runes, but in reality Runes is the name of the language). Mana would gain the ability to use magic and its purest, raw form, with ease. He would also be capable of animating and creating various things and what not. Wicca became the master of altering the properties of physical objects, creating illusions, not to mention alchemy. But they are all capable of all types of magic.
However, by opening one door, they opened many, many others. In one village, a creature named Adimon came and began to slaughter an entire village. Luckily for them, they had some brave and strong knights to kill the beast, who boasted its name to everyone. However, due to a bit on alcohol and mishearing, the knights called it "A Demon". This became the general term for those that would come later.
So now, in a world that is literally changing before their eyes, 3 children set out to find their parents killers and exact revenge. But, the world is going to hold many surprises for them, because this...this is The Origin of Magic.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors
As he entered, Mana could feel it in the air. Figures that Crossroads would be magical nexus. I can feel it in the air...hopefully this won't take too long. But as Mana made his way deeper into the village, towards the Inn, he could not help but notice many repairs had been made recently, and the cemetery had some graves that have yet to get tombstones and more with fresh dirt. "Did we cause this, with what we have done?" he muttered silently to himself, unable to block the guilt he felt. So he pressed forwards to the Inn.
(not as good as my usual starting posts, but good enough)
Actually, now that he remembered, he heard about rumours of some kind of creature – that they dubbed demons – that slaughtered entire villager. He heard a lot of force was put to slay said creature. He had to give credit for the knight that slaughtered that creature; by how the rumors goes, Ike didn't think that he would take on such creature. Although, it would be fun to see one, just to see if it lives up to the rumors. However, it was more laughable when some – more extremist – people think that he had some connection with the slaughter. What a bunch of lunatics.
Any ways that might be true, he had a friend to meet at that neat Crossroad Inn. It was named so because of the two main streets of Gardencliff met each others. He walked into it, making eye contacts with everyone, and eventually spotted the inn owner. He walked up to him. "I'm here for a friend." He said, tossing a golden coin token; a proof of what he is saying to the inn owner. The inn owner looked at it, then nodded, making sign to follow him. Without talking, he followed the man's steps to a private room, where his friend is meeting him.
Inside of the room was waiting one could describe as a noble man. It was obvious by the way that he dressed. When the door closed behind them, Ike let a small sigh and put his hood down, revealing his face to the man he knew as a friend.
"I see that destiny offered a better path for one of us," Ike said as he sat across of his friend.
"I couldn't say better, dear. I was surprised that you've survived. Many people believes in your dead already," the noble man said as he leaned back into the seat he was in.
The name of this person what Richard Kein. He was reputed to be an important person in the trades. Since most merchant hated to deliver their own product, he opened a guild to hire people to deliver said product. Now, they were renown across the known land to be one of the safest way to get things across the country, for a small price that is. His richness builds up because of the popularity of it. Now, he lives a wealthy life – the one that Ike missed.
"Yeah. I've been luckier than my kin. How about you? I bet you got luckier than most of the people here." Ike smirked a bit, crossing his arms.
"Oh, you know. Business going pretty well. Since that attack, fear pretty much strike in people. Some wanted to know what is up with others. It is not much, really." Richard chuckled a bit. "I was actually surprised you came."
"Heh, when I heard about you again, and how this inn would be our meeting place, I was waiting to be arrested immediately at the first step in the village." His friend chuckled softly as they went on their conversation, but Ike had the strange feeling that all of this wasn't just for bonding. Although, why his childhood friend would do that for? Money, of course. Afterall, Ike was considered as a traitor by many.
Magic. It was a curse. Oliver would much rather be without his barely controllable power. At least he had the binding tattoos, although he received many stares because of them. He was the only one of his family who had survived a demon massacre. Sometimes he wished he could have died with them rather than leading this odd life.
"Yeah, but you didn't. Get over it," he muttered to himself. His parents wouldn't want him to die just to join them. Life was something to be lived, not thrown away at some minor inconvenience. Not even major problems that caused semi-frequent bouts of despair.
Oliver reached the entrance to the village and was stopped by a guard. "Hey, kid, you didn't see any demons on your way here, did you?" the guard said.
"No, sir, I didn't. The dang things must have known that I'm hungry enough to eat them if they dared cross my path," Oliver said.
The guard chuckled and gestured towards the interior of the village. "If that's the case, by all means get something to eat."
Oliver nodded and passed the guard, wandering to the streets. Some buildings were in a state of ill repair, he noted. Maybe he could find a job helping fix them up. A few new graves lay in the graveyard, evidence of a demon attack. Not here too. His stomach rumbled, reminding him of the hunger that he had complained to the guard about. With new purpose in mind he made his way to the Crossroads Inn.
At the inn Oliver ordered shepherd's pie. While he waited for his food he felt people staring at him. He ignored the looks. He was glad that his fear binding was on his back right now where it was covered by his clothes. Right now his stallion tattoo was the warmest, so he was determined not to concern himself with the problems of others.
When his food came he thanked the bartender and dug in. The food was pretty good after days of campfire meals. Comfortable and with an excellent meal in his belly, he felt his cat tattoo slowly warm. A brief moment of worry crossed his mind before he dismissed it. His cat shaped emotional binding was one of the easiest to empty. People didn't notice cats. He would just have to hide his clothes and other possessions somewhere safe.
Satisfied, he worked on finishing his meal.
"Hold it there. Don't I know you from somewhere?" one asked.
"Hmm?" she asked putting on her best innocent voice," I'm sorry sir but I'm just here to visit one of my relatives. They just passed away not sure of the causes. No ones told me yet."
"I'm sorry mam. It may have been a demon. You didn't happen to see any?" said the second, younger guard.
"I wasn't very close anyways," she said a sad smile on her face,"Oh, may I pass, please."
"Of course mam," said the second," if you ever need anything I'll be around."
Millina's smile broadened as she walked off. Her hand shot out as she passed the first guard and she grabbed a bag full of money.
As soon as she was out of sight of the guards her smile dropped. She looked through the money bag. Not much but it would get her food and a shelter for a few nights. There was an Inn, or something nearby. She asked around quite a bit until she found it.
As soon as she had booked a room she headed to get something to eat. She found an empty seat and sat there. A few younger men stared at her, Millina smiled at a few and called the bartender over. He hurried over and took her order. She also asked for their best wine. She sat silently studying the exits and windows for a quick escape. Her best shot would be through the nearest window. She kept expecting someone to knot ice who she was. No one seemed to.

Rune wrapped his green cloak tighter around him, and made sure his hood was on, and followed his brother into town. He looked just like his brother Mana, but he wore a quartz crystal around his neck, and that was how they were told apart, which was a good thing and a bad thing. His sword was sheathed on his back, and his hand tightened around the pole of his halberd tighter. He wasn't sure but he was nervous about this town. The damage, and graves told the story of a high possibility of a demon attack, and the stares of the towns people told him the story of fear. Rune softly shook his head at the sight, he knew the guilt was building up in Mana, and his self as well, but they had to press on. Rune swore that as long as he lived, he'll fight the battle of evil.
"This is getting bad Mana. We got to put a stop to this." Rune said to Mana.
Mana might rush into things heads on, but he had a certain wisdom to him, as if he knew things someone much older then him should know. Maybe he didn't always do the smart thing, but he wasn't a complete idiot.
That being said, when a Hellhound smashed through the door of the house next to them, and killed a Town Guard, Mana practically rushed in with his sword. Now, a 12 year old with a sword might not sound like much, but as Mana charged forward, his sword charged itself with magical energy, so it slashed through the Hellhound like it was nothing.
The Hellhound, however, reintegrated itself behind Mana and tackled him. Hellhounds need to be killed three times in one day to be permanently dead. Mana blasted it with a blast of pure magical energy to get it off him, but being crushed by a dog was very painful. Mana might be durable, but a Hellhound is heavy. And now it was trying to attack anyone in sight. Mana of course, rushed at it again, but it smashed him through the Inn door with its tail.
"Owww..."
(tagged everyone due to Hellhound. :3)

(OOC: sorry bout the short post but I was pressed for time.)
“Come on. Can't you let this one go? It is already hard to get in contact with you.” Richard whined a bit, but Ike knew that it was his style of begging. “You don't have to be the hero all the time... It will be against you one day.”
“Richard... sir, is there one thing I learned is to not wait. Besides... there is something wrong if there is a rumble. I mean, it was already hard to get into the village with all the guard around.” Ike said as he quickly snatched his arm away from his friend's grip. Richard was about to say something, but he just looked away, but he smirked.
“Fine, but I swear, if you die, I'm going to kill you in the afterlife. Until then, I hope we'll have time to see each other.” He said. Ike chuckled at the thought of the merchant trying to even scratch him. He quickly busted out of the private room, knowing that his identity will be revealed, and quickly rushed up to the door, looking down at the kid. He knelt down.
“Are you alright?” He said rapidly, but as he looked up, he say a devilish creature. Some kind of... dog? He couldn't tell. It much have been the work of the demon.
“Just rest calmly.” He said without waiting an answer as he leaped through the now destroyed door into the streets, drawing his sword as he pointed it at the creature. He knew that the kid will be alright. His face feature changing to a more serious one.
“Go back from where you were from, creature, or die under my blade.” He said. Ike was determined to kill that beast before it causes any more damage. He wasn't sure if it is the demons that his friend talked about, but it sure inspire no trust at first glance. Although, the more he looked at it... the more he felt that he shouldn't fight it, but help it. Ike shook his mind for a bit; it much be a trick of the beast. Lure him into helping it, like a merchant lure its customers to buy something. Ike was better than that. He'll fight the thing and his subconscious in the same time, either he'll like it or not. He didn't mind to be arrested afterward, but he had to defeat that thing at all cost.
But he was surprised as a small girl used her abilities to sneak up on the beast and stab it into its head. He couldn't believe what happened in font of him as he looked in awe. He just couldn't understand what happened, but he quickly got back into the action. The creature that was previously thought dead reappeared and fling the female into a wall. He ran up to the creature, kicking it in its side to make it fall back, but it only got its attention. Ike fell down on the ground, seeing the demonic dog pouncing on him. He quickly rolled out of its way, and quickly brought his sword through the beast's chest, directly into its heart. Ike closed his eyes, hearing the whining of the beast as he twisted the sword, taking it out.
He watched as the beast fell to the ground and that Ike was breathing heavily. He quickly sliced the demon dog's head off, just to make sure it was truely dead. He looked around, his vision blurred a bit because of the adrenaline pumping in his veins. He went up to the girl and saw that she'll be alright, then looked back at the blurred lines, knowing that there was probably guards that was looking at him. Ike stabbed his sword into the ground, kneeling down, waiting to be arrested. The warrior had no will to kill anybody anymore after what happened. Even though he didn't took any damage, he felt a weird pain on his left shoulder blade. It was burning, but he stayed calm, only breathing heavily, cooling himself, waiting for the guards to come up.

Just as fast as he got to his brother, two other jumped at the hellhound. One was knocked into a wall, and the other was pounced upon. Rune started to help, but quickly stopped after seeing a warrior stab the beast and then chopped it's head off. Rune looked at Mana like he really wanted to help the people, but he knew the consenquince for assisting. "I'm going to do it, Mana." Rune said, referring to an enchanted protective stone. Those types of enchantments took a lot from him, but he just couldn't stand by and watch a town get ransacked by demons and beasts.
Of course, two more fire breathing hell hounds came to investigate their dead friend, one had the head of a guard in its mouth. Mana, who had used magic to heal any injury, jumped up (with Rune's help) and impulsively slashed at one with another magically enhanced strike. The hellhound reintegrated itself behind mana, but Mana's staff was already out to blast it into a wall with a bolt of pure magic.
The second one smashed Mana into a wall, as he looked over at Rune. "Place the sto..." he started, before the second hellhound picked him up and started dragging him across town, while he repeatedly whacked it in the head with his staff and also trying to swing his sword at it. "Let me go!!!". At this point the hellhound was fairly mad at him, so het let him go to try and eat him, while Mana tried not be eaten.

As was such, Oliver felt himself transforming into his falcon form right in the middle of the freakin' inn where every flippin' person could see him. Oh well. Might as well use it so people could see was a friend and hopefully wouldn't kick him out. Flying out the hole the demon dog had made, Oliver beat his wings to gain altitude. Some other people killed the dog - was it called a hellhound? - but it came back to life twice. Sure wouldn't want to meet a hellcat. Bet the damn things have nine lives.
Then two more hellhounds came and one grabbed a little magic wielding kid in his mouth. With a screech Oliver dove down at the dog, talons outstretched. He raked the hellhounds face with his talons and the beast dropped the kid. The hellhound snapped at Oliver, but the slate grey falcon was already out of reach.
Oliver circled overhead again, looking for another way he could help. One of the hellhounds howled and loosed a plume of fire into the sky. The fire fizzled out before it could reach Oliver, and he was glad for the warning. A woman dashed around, looking for her child, attracting a hellhound's attention. Oliver stooped again, tearing the flesh of the hellhound's nose.
This time Oliver stayed low to the ground and taunted the hellhound into chasing him. While he was up in the air Oliver had seen a river. He hoped that he could lead the hellhound into it and the creature would drown. Speeding towards the river, Oliver swerved to avoid a burst of flame from the hellhound. I better watch it or I'm gonna be fried chicken.
When he reached the river Oliver shot right over it and the hellhound, too absorbed in the chase, fell right in. Screeching his joy at his success, Oliver flew back over to town to look for another thing to do.
A large whiteish sphere of energy began to form in front of Rune. It started small and then began to ground larger and larger. With every chant, and every time the sphere grew, Rune grew weaker. He knew the costs of providing such a barrier, but he just couldn't watch the towns from being destroyed from what they caused. Suddenly the sphere grew to the size of a large beach ball, which Rune was happy with. He quickly channeled that energy into the stone. Once the last of the energy was absorbed into the stone, a strong wind began to blow, causing the hellhounds to start acting strange. Rune then slammed the bottom of his halberd onto the stone, causing a blast of energy to fly out, knocking the beasts down.
Rune fell to his knees from being weak, but forced himself to contiue, to find a safe place for the new stone to rest. He found the center of town, and caused a single stone pillar to raise up from the ground, causing him to grow even weaker. Just as the pillar was finished being raised, a small hole opened up, in which Rune placed the stone, and watched as it closed. "There, it's done." Rune said to himself outloud, and then slowly turned to look at Mana and the rest of the town, and suddenly collapsed to the ground, being completely exhausted from the amount of energy that he had used. Once Rune hit the ground, his head hit a small rock and caused him to bleed some. He laid there unconsious, since it would take a while for Rune to gain the energy back.
"Stop there, you traitor!" One of the guards said.
"Get away from me!" Ike shouted back at them as he turned around, his sword to his left hand to his sword, and the other raised towards them.
Although, he felt unsuspectingly tired after doing that as if something drained his energy completely, but it was more unsuspected as one of thehell-hounds leaped in front of him to the guards. What he didn't know is that the hell-hound had been summoned at that instance.
For a moment, he was quite confused, but then he remembered; he was outside of the village. The protection didn't get far away. He took the at his advantage, slowly walking away. He wanted to run, but all his energy was gone and the mosthe could do is just walking rapidly. It took 20 meters before he collapsed on the ground, completely exhausted. At least, he was in the forest.
He slowly leaned back on a tree trunk, panting heavily to calm himself down. He didn't understand; who summoned that hell-hound? Why did he felt exhausted all of the sudden? Why the hell-hound didn't attack him first instead of the guards. He was weaker, so he would be easier to kill and get away.
Ike just didn’t understand at all.
As he made his way back towards the Inn, Mana spotted Rune on the ground. He ran over to Rune, making sure he was still alive. "Are you okay? We need to get you somewhere safe".
He had noticed that it seemed to be out of exhaustion, he transferred some of his own energy into Rune.
Mana dragged his brother into the Inn, which seemed somewhat surprised he was still alive, or at the magical and combat abilities he displayed. "What rooms do you have open right now?"
"Uhhh...just the top one. 4 beds, good quality".
"That will be fine. How much?"
"Uhhh...just go upstairs. It's on the house". He tossed Mana the Room Key.
"Thank you" Mana told him, catching the key, before dragging Rune up the stairs to the bed. "I really hope you don't feel this when you wake up..."
When he finally got Rune up there, he pulled him into a bed. "You just rest now. Its fine..."
"I wonder where Wicca is right now?"

Rune was dragged up the stairs and into a room on the fourth floor. He was going to feel it in the morning, but at the time he didn't feel anything. After being pulled up the stairs, Rune was laid in one of the beds to rest. Rune hoped what he had done was enough to help the town. Rune had terrible nightmares and tried not to show it to Mana or Wicca. He had flashbacks to the day they found their parents dead in their house, he hated that day and tried really hard to forget it, but for some reason it always came back when he slept.

Anyways, managed to get in contact with him. Apparent it just took him 18 hours to get to his new school. He just needs to get settled, and then he will rejoin us I believe. (He should get back to us within a week or so)
In the mean time, Mana is described as the more impulsive one. So...rushing ahead fits him perfectly. :D
That being said, remember to keep in mind magic is still a relatively new tool and discovery, and using it randomly out in the open may not be recommended.
That's all, folks!

Re: The Origin of Magic
I could easily explain Wicca's disappearance in the Roleplay if she is not taken during the roleplay, but Rune would be trickier. I will also probably be posting either way soon, but I am giving some time for deathrisesagain to reply (or not) before I do.

Wait, I thought I left that open? I don't remember mentioning her age in any way in the intro O.o
Also, reserved for you Iezobel

Re: The Origin of Magic
Wicca could be older, but if so not by much. Maybe a year or two. However, she could also easily be younger.
Anyways, Il reserve her for you.
Re: The Origin of Magic
Also, exactly how long has magic existed for? If it was only a couple years or decades, I wouldn't imagine there being too many magic users around until a generation afterward, or something.

No, only the three siblings have to be children. Il probably post my character later today if I cant finish it sometime soon.
That doesn't mean you can't if you don't want to. Obviously since this is called "The Origin of Magic", there is much more to come to develop all the "whys" and "hows" further. In relation to that subject, I welcome any ideas or suggestions you or anyone else have.
