The Prophecy of the Four Villages

0 INK

Eight teens prophesized to bring prosperity to their respective villages find themselves running for their lives.

621 readers have visited The Prophecy of the Four Villages since youngbreyer created it.

Introduction

And the prophecy foretold that...

In each of the four villages, two children of opposite gender and of different lineage will be born on the day of the Sacrifice (the day an offering is made up to the village god). Tied together through an unbreakable bond, these two children will be the manifestations of each village’s guardian (god). In the Forested Lands, there will be born a farmer and a wolf, in Lake Country, a troubadour and a lion, in the Plains, the assassin and the doe, and in the Snowy Mountains, the warrior and the dragon.

At the age of ten, the animal counterpart shall be separated from its human counterpart and sent away from the village. He or she will then take on their true form during the day and silently watch over the village alongside their guardian.

When this prophecy is fulfilled, the four villages shall prosper.

Forested Lands

The Forested Lands are located at the center of our world. The people here are farmers and worship the wolf god. The wolf god is the god of harvest and protection. Those who live in the Forested Lands are honest, hard-working people.

The Farmer is the human manifestation of the wolf god. He will be born male. He has a love for the land and adventure and has a natural green thumb. His weapon is the bow.

The Wolf is the animal manifestation of the wolf god. She will be born female. She is loyal, protective, and has keen senses.

Lake Country

Lake Country is located to the west of the Forested Lands. The people here are fishermen and worship the cat god. The cat god is the god of music and luck. Those who live in Lake Country are lively, creative, and colorful.

The Troubadour is the human manifestation of the cat god. She will be born female. She is charming and pleasant, loves the water, and most of all music. Her weapon is the spear.

The Mountain Lion is the animal manifestation of the cat god. He will be born male. He is active, strong, and has alarmingly good luck and reflexes.

Plains

The Plains are located to the south of the Forested Lands. The people here are nomads and merchants and worship the stag. The stag is the god of intelligence and the stars. Those who live in the Plains are proud, down-to-earth, and ingenuitive.

The Assassin is the human manifestation of the stag god. He will be born male. He is a quiet thinker, cautious of others, and quick. His weapon is the dagger.

The Doe is the animal manifestation of the stag god. She will be born female. She is shy, nervous, affectionate, and is a skilled navigator.

Snowy Mountains

The Snowy Mountains are located north of the Forested Lands. The people here are sheep herders and worship the dragon god. The dragon god is the god of rain and courage. Those who live in the Snowy Mountains are tough and resilient.

The Warrior is the human manifestation of the dragon god. She will be born female. She is strong, fierce, and brave. Her weapon is the sword.

The Dragon is the animal manifestation of the dragon god. He will be born male. He is smart, courageous, but has a hardened heart. He can fly and breathe fire… what else could you ask for? He can also take on the form of a lizard.

The Lost Village

There was also rumored to be a fifth village, in a land separated from the other four. This village was destroyed by invaders, it was left uninhabitable. The battle fought between the natives and their attackers was, in the long run, fought for naught. The only survivors were two children, also once foretold to bring prosperity to the village. In the end, the prophecies were abandoned by their guardian, who no longer had a village to watch over, and then they disappeared without a trace. Their hearts were filled with anguish, thoughts of failure, loss, abandonment, and a hatred towards the likes of prophecies and gods. They were the reaper and the weasel. Their god was the phantom.

You will play one of these eight characters. You were separated from your best friend, your other half, at the age of ten. The human deity lived alongside the villagers. The animal deity finally took on its true from and was sent to live in the wild with the village guardian. Seven more years passed. You are now seventeen. Your village has been prospering in their trade for the past few years, but suddenly things have begun to change. Then, one night the human deity awakes to a knock at their window. They open it to see their childhood friend, now seven years older, standing right in front of them. This friend doesn't say a word, but you can hear them speaking in your head. You had always felt they were there with you all along. They tell you that someone is out to kill you both, along with all the other prophesized children. There is a safe house to the east of the Forested Lands and that is where you will both travel. And from there is where our story begins.

Tulya felt the nagging tug of Kaatanmura on her mind, but she tried to sleep through it,being as tired as she was at that moment. It wasn't long before she eventually woke up with a start, coughing heavily. Her eyes stung and she tried blinking her tears away.

"What's going-" she was shocked. The searing heat, her entire room filled to the brim with black smoke. "A FIRE?!" She quickly tied her jacket around her neck and grabbed her belongings before hurtling out of her room.

"This is...insane!" she said to herself before cupping her hands around her mouth and yelling. "WHOEVER HASN'T WOKEN UP YET!!THERE'S A FIRE!!!!"

Amidst the smoke she caught the glimpse of the innkeeper's daughter and the white haired girl running down the stairs. She quickly followed them, all the while tying her weapons onto her waist.Downstairs, she witnessed a heated conversation between the girl and the innkeeper, who had revealed a hidden trapdoor underneath the inn.It wasn't long before the girl and the innkeeper's daughter descended the trapdoor.

"The others should follow her soon.Until then..." she whipped her wooden sword into a stance.

<Kaa...where are you?Get here, quickly!> she sent out a telepathic message over to her partner, while trying to peek through the hot, sweltering, smokey inn.The assailants were purposefully leaving the windows untouched, save for the one that the innkeeper broke,so that the smoke would clog up the place. She walked over and swung at two other windows, causing the smoke to let up a little.

"Sorry about that,I guess I'll hafta pay for those windows?" she turned to look at the innkeeper and his wife. From the corner of her eye,she saw a sword being swung in her direction. She quickly moved out of the way,but the slight delay caused her to receive a small gash on her arm.She backed away as fast as she could from the broken windows. She ignored the bleeding wound on her left arm, before looking at the innkeepers.

"Get down, and find some place to hide.I'll try and buy ya some time until the others leave." she immediately switched her focus onto the 3 broken windows, anticipating a group of assassins to climb through them.If they were coming in soon,Tulya would be horribly outnumbered, leading to her impending demise, unless the others arrive quickly. Her eyes fleeting to and fro the 3 broken windows, her sweat starting to mix with the blood from her wound and her breathing heavy from the smoke, but nonetheless, she held out her wooden sword ready to fight anyone that might come in.

Kaatanmura wasn't quick enough. The soldiers had surrounded the inn, cutting off his path. However, Kaatanmura was determined to get through, especially after having received a message in return from Tulya. Kaatanmura flicked out his wrists, loosing two hidden blades he had obtained from a travelling black market dealer. They were illegal, but he couldn't care less, after all, they had helped him protect his village. He charged forward, and as he ran drove his blades in the necks of the two soldiers on each side of him and jumped through' one of the windows Tulya had smashed open. He saw one of the soldiers slash at Tulya shortly before she dissapeared into the floor. He made the soldier his next victim, killing him swiftly by drving his blade through the assailant's neck and then removing it in one fluid motion. He then made sure everyone had entered the underground passageway before slipping down and covering up the hole behind him. Kaatanmura heard Tulya offer to stay and fight off the soldiers. Kaatanmura admired her bravery, but he knew she'd be unable to fight them all off in the haze with a wound on her arm. Kaatanmura pulled up his mask to protect him from the smoke.
~Tulya, you're in no condition to fight!~ Kaatanmura warned her telepathically, ~But if you insist, I'll stay and help you.~
Kaatanmura readied his blades, knowing that after his violent display they would surge in soon. He was doubtful that he and Tulya would be able to fend them off for long, since she was wounded and he was more accustomed to fighting as a dragon. Never the less, they stood their ground.

The sleep indulged Kalivn rolled around on his rather comfortable mattress unaware of the now large and growing fire. He moaned as a burning scent touched upon his nose causing him to drastically wake up. He sped knowing of the smell, it reminded him of the fires back at home, the barn broke into a fire and all the animals were stuck inside.. nobody knew until they opened the barn doors and found all of the animals dead or have second-degree burns. He ran through the hallway scared, as the fire ate the wood of the cabin. He was cornered by the flames as he tried to leave, leaving his only option going back to his room. He ran back and shut the door. He looked at the small window that was in his room and suddenly he sprouted an idea, a rather dangerous idea but it was an idea.

He opened the window as far as it would go looked down and gulped. He wasn't sure he was going to jump...then he heard the cracking sound of the flames eating the wood on his door, he had no choice. 1..2...3........he spread his hands and jumped closing his eyes shut...BOOM. There was a sudden pain and he could barely move, he felt the aching pain all over the blurry vision prevailed and suddenly everything was black.

Mizuumi's eyes shot open and she sat up in her bed, coughing as smoke filled her lungs. Fire? She thought to herself, feeling her heart lurch as the sound of cracking wood could be heard. She jumped out of bed, picking up her boots and dress, there was no time to put on her clothes so she would have to make due with what she had on. She picked up her violin case and tucked her flute into the zipper, then wrapped her shoes up in her dress and tied it to the violin strap. Her eyes scanned the room to see if Leoh had come up to bed but he was no where to be found. "Leoh!" she screamed. Perhaps he hadn't gone to bed and was downstairs when the fire broke out. How could a fire start here? She ran to the door, her bare feet pounding on the hardwood floor. She opened the door and looked down the hallway, only to realize the fire has already spread up the stairs and there was no way to get down from the upper level.

Slamming the door shut, she ran to the window, grabbing her spear off the floor beside her bed and crashing it into the glass, causing tiny shards to scatter across the floor and outside. She looked out the window and glanced down at the ground. It's too high! There is no way I would be able to jump from here! She took a couple of steps back, ignoring the sharp pain in her heel as she stepped on a piece of the broken glass. She could've actually managed to climb down if she hung herself out the window and stepped down onto the lower roof, which she was fully capable of doing, if her extreme fear of heights hadn't got the best of her. She stood there, clutching her spear, half using it as something to lean on while her legs became shaky form breathing in all the smoke. "Leoh, Where are you!" She called out to him, hating to let him see her in such a distressed mood. She pressed her back against the wall beside the window she had broken, coughing rapidly at the smoke. Had everyone else gotten out okay? She thought to herself, more worried about them than she was about herself.
