To complicate things further, she took on a job that unnerves her crew. Obtaining an item from the bowels of The Solarflare--an abandoned ship floating near Obulous VI, infamous for causing the deaths of crews who dared enter to steal it's supposed treasures. XXXX Meg swore colorfully as the ship was righted. She could see a dark head peaking just over the back of the pilot's chair as Banshee took control. She was struggling with the help in her attempts to keep the ship steady and in place. They could both feel the purring of the ship's engines as she stabilized. But for how much longer?

She stood on her small platform once more, crying, "Battlestations!" Her crew scrambled, somehow still respecting her command after the news she had just given them. Either they were on her side once more, or they were just looking after their own skins. Either way, she was glad of it. Banshee whistled through her teeth, signaling for communications to spread the word throughout the ship. Not that the sirens made it obvious or anything.

Once she could hold the ship steady long enough, Nat quickly shot out a message to Roz. "You at the gunz, babe?" She asked, purposely making fun of her speech impediment. Though she knew her friend would see it as a sign of love. It wouldn't be the first time and it certainly wouldn't be the last. While she waited for a reply, she made a quick signal to Meg, knowing from experience that she'd understand even if she was looking on from behind. Awaiting orders, Captain. Meg didn't respond, but she knew she saw considering her next order was, "Evasive maneuvers! Get about fifty yards away and tell Roz to punt 'em."

Just before Nat swung the ship around, a large silver ship loomed before them. The symbol of Et Salvos shimmered on the side in the light of their gun blasts. Nat's blood turned to ice at the thought. Her mind slipping into the realm of the past. Of cold hands on her skin, a scar along her throat, and the knowledge that she no longer knew what her voice sounded like. The last thought turned her vision red, a crimson blotch that spread until it was all she saw and it took everything in her to keep from ramming them with their tiny ship. She hadn't even noticed the other ship coming up beside them.

A buzzing in her ear pulled her from her thoughts. Roz requesting info. It snapped her out of it completely, and she began to turn the ship around, albeit not very gracefully. Another round of swears burst from Meg. "Watch those turns, Nat! If we break a rudder we're sunk!" Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a small, curly-haired girl off to the side, watching those in the bay bustle about. "You! Gizmo... no, Gadget. You best be finding somewhere else to be. Nat informed me you're good at machines. Unfortunately, you're of no use here and I don't need untrained personnel in my engines right now. Nat must've given you a bunk. Go find it." She didn't mean it to come out cross, but her baby was being fired at and her pilot was turning so sharply she could practically hear the rudders crack. Although, they weren't actually damaged.

Once Nat was able to, she quickly typed out another message to Roz. "Captain says fire once we're fifty yards out and I turn us back." She replies. After a moment's hesitation, she added, "You up for some drinks after this mess? Gettings a lot of memory garbage at the moment that I need to be rid of for a while."

Meg's voice cut through the air. "On second thought, we can't take both ships. Not with the damage we've sustained. Nat, tell Roz that once we turn, blast them with the shockwaves and smokers. I know it won't damage them, but it'll allow us enough cover to book it. We can land on one of the moons to refuel if need be. We're smaller and faster. We just need to get far away and fast."

Nat signaled her acknowledgment and relayed the information to Roz.

Eon was comforted by the purring of the engines, but her heart was pounding. She was nervous. She was trying not to freak out. All she could think about was that Et Slavos was attacking them. Do they know I am on this ship? Are they after me? They could be going after Meg and or Banshee as well. They did say Et Slavos used them. She was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard Hellfire’s voice. Battestations? Well that is useful since I obviously know mine. Eon slowly followed Meg, avoiding people rushing about. She finally stopped in the bay, so she could watch and listen.

“Et Slavos…” she cursed and took a step forward. She roamed through her mental catalog as she did her best to pinpoint the model and make of the ship. Meg distracted her when she mentioned a rudder. Slowly Eon took a few steps forwarded. She froze when Meg’s attention came to her. Eon slowly blinked when Meg got her name wrong at first. She was a bit offended but pressed her lips together instead of speaking. Eon remembered the times she never got along with her old captain. She shifted her weight and crossed her arms as she stayed still.

“People often don’t know what they need. They just know what they want. They often need someone else to show them what they need,” she said after everyone stopped speaking. Slowly she stepped closer to Hellfire. She did stay a few feet away in case she sparked with flames. Eon realized the words she spoke later and just looked out to space.

“Also, I’d suggest attacking the nearest ship and then making your escape. If you hit either of these ships just under their left rocket, they won’t be able to pursue without consequences and or for long. Either way, they’d be forced to stop. The other ship would be obliged to, even if not damaged, they’re usually told to hold back for reinforcements if one ship is down,” she added.

The last thing she’d do was leave to her bunk while Et Slavos was nearby. She shifted her weight and tightened her crossed arms. She’d rather know as soon as possible if they were going to be captured, killed, or needed to make an escape. Eon would need to know so she could make plans. She turned slightly away from Hellfire. Eon doubted she’d attack while they were deep in shit.

Rozalia heard her chatter go off while she was firing and quickly plugged it into her gun sysyetm so the messages would show up on her screen while she was firing. “Fifty yardz? I could hit them now though... Fine.” Roz said into her chatter over the sound of their small cannons firing. “And if you keep making fun of me I’ll drink you under the table again, don’t want Cap to know you can’t handle your drinkz.” Rozalia replied with a smirk on her face, even taking a second to type into her chatter “;)”

A rain of lasers from the Et Salvos came across Rozalia’s screen, shortning out her small cannons. “Fuck! Rex, my zmall fire is down momentarily, put zome fire on that gatling on the right zhip.” She relayed to her gunner before other messages popped up on their screen about the change of tactics. “What!? Ugh, fine. You definitely owe me a drink after thiz.” Rozalia replied to the orders she was receiving, quickly calibrating her guns to get ready for their jump, quickly letting Rex know to get ready, to stop firing as soon as the smokers deploy.

Plasma wasn’t one to back down from the fight, Banshee and Hellfire had to pull her out of a bar fight or two in the past when drunkards called her “accent” cute, trying to flirt with her. Especially when they taunt her by telling her captain to “keep the little one back so she doesn’t get hurt.” A few times she would need to get patched up after biting more than she could chew, but would never admit to defeat. Of the people to call Rozalia cute, Nat is one of the select few that she allows to, even she asked the Captain not to when they first met but understands Captain Hellfire does as she wants.

“Zmokerz calibrated to deploy ztraggered 50 yardz apart to give cover, zhockwavez charged and ready to dizper-“ Roz was interrupted when another shot hit the glass infront of her and scorched her cannon barrels. “Baztardz!” Rozalia yelled as she switched to her rockets and quickly blowing up one of the ships smaller turrets. Rozalia heard a voice in the background of someone’s chatter, sounding a lot like the new girl Gadget. Left rocket huh? Lets see if she knows what she talking about. Rozalia switched targets and fired their main plasma cannon at the first ship she lowered the shield of early, barely scraping the rocket but doing enough damage to see it sputter out. "Left rocket damaged and momentarily out of commizzion" Rozalia reported back to the bridge.

As soon as Rozalia heard the command from Captain Hellfire, multiple rockets sent out around the Stardust creating a thick smokescreen and a emp type blast exploded from the cloud, temporarily shutting turning the ships electronics black, but no more than 10 seconds. "Go!"

XXXX Nat rolled her eyes at Roz's comments about her tolerance for alcohol. She actually had a higher tolerance that Roz thought. The last time she had gotten shitfaced from drinking was due to her lack of food throughout the day. It had been a hard day of fighting off other pirates and they were running low on food. Nat--being the kind soul she was--decided to give her rations to one of the younger recruits. She didn't have a chance to reply as another wave of fire hit their shielding and damaging some of Roz's cannons. She could hear her swearing over her chatter.

Meg had been focused on the windows when she heard someone speaking nearby coming closer to her. Her first instinct was to ignore it because one, they hadn't used her title so she hadn't thought they were talking to her and two, no one would be foolish enough to question the Captain, right? She turned her blazing gaze on the girl--the new girl that she allowed to fly with her out of the kindness of her heart--and she was telling her what she needed?

Meg laughed humorlessly. "Look, Cupcake. I learned the difference between a need and a want while I was running from Et Salvos and surviving on what little I had. You look only a couple of days from the good life so I definitely don't need life advice from you." She looked the girl up and down. "Although you have some cajones to think you can tell me how to run my ship. I've been fighting off the enemy for years. I think I know how to run things."

A bright burst of light flooded her vision as Roz--apparently--decided to listen to the advice of a newbie over the orders of her captain. She'll be getting a tongue lashing later. And not the fun kind. She turned a hard glare on the girl readying for another lecture when suddenly the ship lurched forward as one of the shockwaves had hit a nearby asteroid at the same time their break was made. Meg was paying so much attention to the new girl, she had completely misheard her second pilot's exclaims of "Hold on to something!" Just as Roz came through the chatter yelling "Go!"

Meg was sent flying backward, her head slamming into the metal paneling of the interior of the bridge. At first, there was ringing. Everything was fuzzy. And then she slowly spiraled down into darkness.

Once the ship was far enough away, Nat gave a hand signal to the coms to send out the "Who's still alive" count command. She turned to gesture to her captain when she noticed the firy red-head was no longer standing, but collapsed on the floor like a doll. Apparently she had missed the call to hold onto something. Near her captain was the new girl. Her eyes narrowed on her for only a moment before she snatched her chatter and rushed over to Meg.

She shook her, felt her pulse, and then turned her attention back to the girl. "What happened?" She asked. Afterwards, she sent a chatter to Roz about Meg being down for the count. She also alerted Med Bay to send someone up to retrieve her friend.

Cupcake. Gizmo. Little probie. What will be next? I don’t mind that she doesn’t remember my name. It is safer that way. Although, how hard is it to remember a name? I already remembered three. And a couple of days from the good life? I must look better than I thought. It has been over a year since what she calls the good life. She may have been fighting them for years, but I lived with them for mostly all my lif- She turned her head at the burst of light. When she could see Hellfire again, she wasn’t surprised she was glaring at her.

Why is she such a sourpuss? Does she have an alien up her as- Gadget quickly grabbed onto something and witnessed with surprise when Hellfire went flying. She flinched when her head slammed against metal. Why didn’t she hold onto something? How the hell is she captain of this ship? When it was safe to do so, she headed towards Hellfire. She stopped when she sensed movement in Banshee’s direction. She was doing something with her hand.

Gadget took note of how her eyes narrowed, even if it was just for a moment. Does she think I pushed her? If I heal her…maybe she won’t think so. I’d rather not be kept a prisoner for the rest of my time on this ship. Though, I really shouldn’t be healing anyone. She tensed as Banshee got closer and flexed her fingers. It was hard for her not to go for a weapon. She was ready for accusations to come flying from Banshee’s chatter. Some tension left her body when she was paid no attention by Banshee at first.

“Hellfire didn’t hold onto something when told to do so. She went flying and slammed her head,” she said sharply. Her mood was sour now. Today was turning out to be a bad day. Et Salvus attacked the ship. She received glares and narrowed eyes. Now she was going to need to heal someone who had fun lecturing her. Someone who couldn’t even bother to learn the name she gave her. Someone who couldn’t even listen to instructions and hold onto something. Someone who thought she was telling her how to run her ship. Gadget took a few deep breathes to calm down. When she wasn’t calm, her impulses were much easier to give into.

“Now, I’ll heal your captain since she is your friend...and you seem to be a kind person. I’d appreciate it if you could not let people crowd us or even tell Hellfire how I healed her. It is better to have the minimum amount of people know about my ability, especially since I am here on a trial period,” she paused to lay Hellfire straight out on the floor; she felt her head for any wounds before placing it on the floor, “I am going to heal her now…don’t think I am doing anything, but that.”

Carefully she straddled Hellfire’s stomach but kept most of her weight off the woman. Next, she leaned forward and pressed her check against her right one. Gadget placed one hand on the floor next to Hellfire’s neck. Her free hand went to cup her ear. She placed her lips close to it. Gadget disliked all the touching she was doing, but disliked people hearing her sing even more. Though, she doubted the crew would allow her to drag the captain off somewhere private. She wouldn’t admit it, but she wouldn’t have wanted to move her. Head injuries could be tricky and even deadly things.

Gadget even knew she’d heal the woman before Banshee’s narrowed eyes. She never mastered the art of just letting someone die. Also, she wasn’t sure if she was the reason why the ship got attacked by Et Salvus. Before she began singing, she hummed softly. It was how she always started. It helped her focus on finding the correct tune and feeling. Softly she sang what someone once called a siren song. The song was alluring and one you could listen to forever. She stopped a few minutes later when she knew Hellfire was healed. Gadget slowly sat up and had to close her eyes for a few seconds. She was already starting to feel the effects.

“Healed,” she whispered as she opened her eyes. She wanted to get up, but she needed a moment. Gadget felt herself let some of her weight rest on Hellfire. She held her hand out to Banshee. “My hand may be icy to the touch, but that is normal after I heal. Can you help me stand? I’d rather not be on her when she wakes up. I wouldn’t need this hothead to think I pushed her…like you did. The last thing I need is to get burnt for something I didn’t do,” she murmured.

All the words that left her lips weren’t meant to leave, but she didn’t have the energy to filter what she said and thought. Let me not speak again before Banshee ends up not being so nice to me. She shivered as a chill ran down her back. The cold was the worst side effect. She knew she’d feel the others soon. Although, she could fix the cold at least. She just had to get to a private place.

Rozalia loved the feeling of when Nat made the Stardust jump and zoom into space, it always gave her a small shot of adrenaline, which was always Rozalia’s drug of choice. Though this time Plasma didn’t really appreciate it since the Stardust and her crew were running from a fight instead of into one or dogfighting in the midsts of space. Roz felt the ship slowed down as they got far enough away from Et Salvos’ two ships, quickly seeing a comm message pop up on her gun HUD asking for everyone’s counts, Rozalia quickly typing her number up as it turned her turn. “Rex, all iz under your command until I get back, gonna do a check of the zyztemz and with Banzhee.” Roz said before hopping out of her chair and walking down the hall.

After walking not even ten steps down the hallway, a message came to her chatter from Nat, and not exactly a message Rozalia wanted to see. Meg was down.

"Outta me way!” Roz barked as she shoved past some crew members before getting to the bridge, hearing the end of the new girl speak, asking for people not to crowd around. Usually Rozalia wouldn’t care about someone’s personal space, but as she wasn’t quite sure what was about to happen, and this new girl was correct about the Et Salvos ship, she thought she would give her another chance. Roz turned away and started shouting orders to get people to leave the bridge. “Go do whatever Captain would tell you to do after a dogfight.” There was quickly some mumbles and disagreements. “Ey! I’ll fucking zlice your neck you freak, Captain wouldn't even be mad once zhe getz up.” Rozalia said as they started to finally drain out of the bridge, leaving just essential personnel around.

By the time Roz turned around, the girl was straddling Hellfire with her lips close to her neck, she snickered a little bit and winked at Nat. As she watched, Rozalia sort of expected to be some sort of glow or flash of light while Hellfire was healed, but before she knew it the girl was saying their captain was already healed. “What?” Rozalia stuttered for a moment while the girl continued to speak, but mostly ignoring her and just blinking a few times and looking back down at Hellfire. “Wait. What type of healing are you doing? You ztraddle her and kizz her neck and zay all healed? Feel like I could get more for 50 creditz. Kind of wanted more of a zhow.”

After saying her comment, Plasma grabbed Gadget's hand to help her off of their Captain, "Zo, let me know whenever you want to heal me next Gadget." Rozalia said after pulling her up, giving her a small wink.

XXXXNat's fingers flickered to different parts of Meg to check for injuries while she listened to the girl--Gadget-- give her side of the story. Nat's first instinct was to disbelieve her considering the circumstances. She stowed away on their ship and were almost immediately attacked by Et Salvos. Ok, not immediately, but too close to be a coincidence. She could be a spy for all Nat knew. When she didn't find any open injuries, she figured that much about the situation was true. Meg had smacked her head on the metallic innards of her ship. Nat sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose, her shoulders tense.

Nat's head snapped up at the mention of healing. What the hell is she talking about? She thought as she searched the girl's face for any signs of a joke or deception. She found none. Just a strong sense of determination... and annoyance. Apparently, Meg had been ripping her a new one while trying to command her ship. Nat looked at the girl and back at Meg, weighing her options. She wasn't exactly sure what Gadget had meant by heal, but it was more than what Nat could do. All she was good for was wiggling her fingers and screaming. She pressed her thin fingers against her temples and sighed heavily. Man, she needed a drink. Where the hell was Roz?

She gave a quick sign before she realized the girl wouldn't understand her. She pulled out her chatter and typed, "That means 'fine'." And then she stood back. She started to type orders for the others to clear the air for their captain and return to their posts. If Meg woke up and found her crew milling about, there would be hellfire to pay. It was then that Roz showed up, shouting at everyone in a much more effective way than Nat. Another thing she couldn't do. She could scream, shatter glass and make ears and eyes bleed, but she couldn't even give orders. Her self esteem was taking a major hit today.

Roz had stopped and stared at something and Nat turned, cheeks heating slightly at the sight of Gadget straddling her captain and bringing her lips close to her neck. Nat looked away, heat rising in her in a way to remind her that she had never finished her business with the woman before they had taken off. It wasn't so much that she was interested in Gadget or Meg--though when she first met the captain there had been curiosities--but it was that her brain provided a context for the situation that reminded her of more intimate events. She shook her head, glowering at the floor until Gadget hopped off the captain and proclaiming her "healing" finished. Nat brought up her chatter to protest that she hadn't seen much of anything to conclude that healing had, in fact, occurred...not that she knew what that looked like when Roz opened her mouth.

Nat pointed to her friend in agreement. She made her way over to Meg, testing pulses for changes and while she didn't appear to be regaining consciousness, her pulse had slowed and her face looked less pained at the edges. Nat typed out, "I don't know what you did, but I believed it helped." She looked at Gadget as she typed. "I know Meg is hard to get along with. She's gone through a lot in her life. She doesn't trust easily and especially when you get here and we have Et Salvos on our tails. I'm not saying you brought them here, but that's a possibility Meg might consider were she awake which will land you in the brig. I suggest telling her the truth of what you've done yourself when she wakes. It would help her to trust you. However, if you're still opposed, I'd get out of here before she wakes up."

Then she turned her attention to Roz, her eyes softening. "Help me carry her to her room?" She nodded towards her captain before moving to her head to lift her arms. Meg was small, but still heavy. Before she reached down to pick her up, she signed to Roz--a word she had recently taught her. Drinks?

Gadget eyes went to Roz when she spoke. Despite that she just noticed her, she found her reaction amusing. Although, as she continued to listen, she was glad she was too cold to blush. Gadget lips pressed together because she had no comeback. She wasn’t even sure what to say. It wasn’t meant to be a show. She grabbed the woman’s hand and stood. Gadget made sure not to step on Hellfire in the process. Right when she was about to let go of Roz’s hand, the woman opened her mouth again. She was speechless. When the woman winked at her, Gadget felt a little heat come to her cheeks. Gadget released Roz’s hand and rubbed her hand down her side to “clean” it.

”Thank you for helping me up,” she said dryly. She didn’t appreciate the inappropriate comments. Gadget was thinking of the sign for fine when Banshee spoke. Her gaze wandered over to her. I did help her. She is healed. It is just hard to tell because of the type of injury. Gadget let out a soft sigh at the thought of telling Hellfire what she did. As she watched Banshee, she took note of how her eyes soften when she turned to Roz.

She wrapped her arms around herself. Gadget focused on thinking of the sign for fine again. She didn’t want to remember times of eyes softening. As she decided she’d give them privacy, she slowly headed for the exit. She rubbed her eyes and turned around. Her vision blurred again. I’ll be in my room as I need to rest. Also, no one should trust anyone. People aren’t worth trusting. Most are just liars, betrayers, users, or all three,” she said. She realized she said everything out loud and sighed.

”If she plans on sending me to the brig, tell her to at least wait until I wake up. There are less than pleasant side effects to healing someone,” she added before she turned and left. Once Gadget got to her room, she slid out of her spacesuit. It took a little more effort than she liked. She placed the outfit on the bag with her weapons against it. She always wore black shorts under her spacesuit, but she knew she should put a shirt on.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Hellfire came bursting into the room. She slid on a sleeveless loose shirt that just covered the shorts at midthigh. She slid under the covers and curled up into a ball. Gadget allowed herself to shiver. She knew she should let Pinky out to warm up, but she felt exhausted. It was only a few seconds later before she fell asleep. Although, sleep didn’t take her for long. She was restless and kept waking up every few minutes. Finally, she decided to just lay there and wait for the storm that was sure to come called Captain Hellfire.

XXXX
Roz moved parallel to Nat, thankfully she had gone towards Meg’s head and left the lighter part to Roz. ”Zure, zure. Captain will know where to find you, Gadget. Roz spoke to Eon as she walked off, looking back at Nat and nodding when ready to lift. ”You know I’m alwayz up for a drink.” She said in response Nat’s question about drinks. Drinks. One thing Rozalia loved doing almost as much as shooting was drinking, so when Nat taught her the sign for it, she would almost always be seen throwing it up whenever they had down time. The Captain wasn’t one for having a gunner who was under the influence so being able to bring it up and offer it under her radar when she wasn’t paying attention was a good thing. ”I bet Captain haz the good ztuff in her room. Probably bezt to drop her off there right?” Roz said once she had lifted up Meg’s lower half.

Nat reached down to lift Meg at the same time as Roz to reduce the chances of accidentally causing Meg any injury. She looped her arms under Meg’s armpits and lifted until she was at chest height. She gave Roz a look that said, Good plan.

Slowly, the two made their way to the captain’s quarters which wasn’t too far from the bridge. Captain can’t exactly be too far from the main hub of activity on their ship now can they? Or at least… that was the excuse Meg always gave. “So the new girl can heal huh? That zhould be helpful, I can’t wait for the Captain to find out about being ztraddled in her bridge.” Rozalia said some comments with a giggle as they walked down the hallway. It took some finagling to get the door open and more than a few wiggles and adjustments to find and get Meg’s ID card.

Once they had the door open and entered the room, the deposited their captain onto her bed. Nat sighed. She stretched her back and ran a hand through her hair. ”She’s gonna be pissed when she finds out.” She lifted her eyes from the unconscious form to Roz as a slow smile spread across her face. ”For the straddling and the fact that we raided her cabinet.” She pointed to where the liquor was stashed in an old fashion wooden cabinet that was kept secured in case of rough space travel.

”Meh, zhe owez uz. Won’t be too mad if we have a little.” Rozalia said as she waved her hand and pulled open the wooden cabinet, revealing multiple bottles of different colored liquids, some closed and some half drank. “Which poizon do we reward ourzelvez with tonight? Actually, I feel like the real queztion will be how long the Ztarduzt pilot will lazt tonight?” Roz asked with a smirk on her face to Nat before looking back into the cabinet, still not entirely sure what to grab, brushing her hair out of her face.

Nat chuckled. ”Oh, is that how we’re going to play.” She moved passed Roz, nudging her gently out of the way with a bump of her hip. ”Rude.” Nat grinned as she reached to the back of the cabinet for the bottle of amber liquid in a frosted bottle. The label read Sunspot Whiskey, cinnamon, vanilla, and orange flavored whiskey. She sloshed it around as she showed it to Roz in her one hand and grabbed a few glasses with the other. She set the bottle and the glasses on Meg’s desk and perched there as she poured the drinks. One the drinks were poured, she reached into her pocket and withdrew the prototype for a wrist keyboard that would allow her to communicate easier. She tested it out. ”Any ideas on a drinking game?”

Rozalia quickly grabbed the bottle and poured herself a shot and drank it before looking back at Nat, gulping down the liquid to get a taste. “Whoa, that waz… interezting. How about…” Roz paused for a second to think “How about for every time you teach me a zign, I drink, and every time I give it back, you drink?” She said with a smirk on her face before she sat down in Captain Hellfire’s chair, a place she normally wouldn’t if the captain was conscious.

Nat sat forward, her elbows on her knees and grinned at Roz, mischief gleaming in her eyes. ”How about every time you get one right I drink and every time you get one wrong, you drink.”

“Eazy. You’re on. Hit me.” Roz laughed setting her cup down and getting ready, looking forward at Nat waiting for the first sign.

Nat leaned back, swirling around the whiskey in her glass filling the room with its aroma. ”How about a quiz first to get us started?”

”I mean, however way you want to loze.” Rozalia said with the smirk still on her face.

Nat reached to her hip and pulled her blaster out of its holster. She held it up, eyebrow raised questioningly. Roz giggled and quickly gave the sign for blaster. “Told you thiz would be too eazy, drink up.”

Nat shrugged and obliged. The liquor slid down her throat easily, its warmth filling her. ”Next word.” She pointed to the unconscious form in the bed. Roz thought for a second, then gave a sign with a shrug, hoping it was right. Nat, with a look of surprise on her face, poured herself another shot and drank it. Roz had struggled with that one previously. ”Lucky guess.” She thought for a moment, fingers drumming on her glass. Then she smirked. ”Last quiz question. How do you sign my name?”

”Pfft, again easy.” Roz said before quickly throwing up three signs to spell out Nat’s name and sticking her tongue out at Nat and relaxing in the captain's chair, not realizing she mixed up A and S.

Nat smirk turned into a grin and she leaned forward to pour a shot into her glass. ”Drink up, buttercup.” Roz was shocked she got it wrong, she put on a slight pouty face before drinking the warm liquor. ”Next”

Nat thought a moment and then shrugged. ”What do you want to know? Sometimes it’s easier to learn something you’re interested in instead of having someone choose it for you.” She smirked and signed, Like “drink”

“Oh! What about brown eyez!” Roz exclaimed, referencing Nat’s eyes.

Nat rolled her “brown eyes” and typed, ”That’s two words, but…” She folded her hand into the letter “b” and placed it by her cheek for brown and then pointed to both eyes for “eyes”. It was actually a very easy sign which meant Nat was probably going to have to take a shot. ”Try it.”

Roz watched carefully as Nat demonstrated the sign on her by her face, she slowly replicated it after a second and smiled at Nat. “I don’t think i even need a glazz anymore.” Nat scoffed, but took her shot. The room was beginning to blur at the edges. ”Next word?”

Roz relaxed a bit and slouched in the chair as she tried to think of another word, looking back at Nat. “What about drunk?” Roz said with a giggle. Nat laughed considering the sign for drunk is a little ridiculous and spot on and at the prospect of Roz and Nat already, possibly, maybe even a little drunk. “Wait wait, no. Laugh?” Nat lifted her eyebrows in surprise. ”Laugh?” pink bloomed at her cheekbones, both due to the alcohol settling in and the idea that Roz asked because Nat laughed. ”Oh, its..” She made “L”s with her hands and pointed to the corners of her mouth. Then she twirled them up in small spirals and stopped by her ears.

Rozalia just stared as Nat did the sign, but honestly not getting it when she did it, all she got in her mind was the L. “Uh…” She had no idea so she just grabbed the bottle and poured herself a drink and swallowed it quickly. She wiped her mouth and shook her head, but then realizing that wasn’t a good idea, getting a little dizzy.

Nat laughed and reached for Roz’s hands. ”It’s actually pretty easy. Come on, give it a try. Make some ‘L’s”. Then twirl them up by your ears.” Roz blushed a with Nat holding her hand, and was able to replicate the sign with her help. “Zo that meanz you drink now.”

Nat laughed again. ”You wish.” The alcohol was making her into a laugh track… great. ”Pretty.” The word just spilled out of Roz’ mouth without her even thinking while looking at Nat.

Well that did it. The heat rose from Nat’s cheeks to the tips of her ears. Thankfully they were hidden by her hair. She reached up to tuck a strand behind her ear, but stopped, realizing that it would reveal the blushing. So instead, she let the lock of hair drop into her face and she looked away. ”It actually means beautiful, but it also works for pretty…” She looked back at Roz, but didn’t meet her eyes. She opened her hand so her thumb was by her chin. She fluttered her fingers closed while making a circle in front of her face.

Roz watched very carefully, she probably looked ridiculous just staring at Nat. When Nat was done Roz just made three circles in front of her face. “Good?

Nat grabbed the bottle and reached out to pour another drink for Roz in answer, but the room tilted suddenly and she nearly dropped onto her friend’s lap. Without thinking she signed, Sorry. Then repeated it outloud and pushed steadied herself once more on the desk. She tried to blow a strand of hair from her face, but failed and gave up. She poured her a drink and waited, for the next word.

After giggling for a second, Roz downed her drink, looking back at Nat, staring for a couple seconds, watching her try to get the strand of hair out of her face. Roz gently moved it out of her face and grazed Nat’s lips. “Lips?” A light smile crept across Roz’s face

Nat’s eyes found Roz’s, noted the smile on her face. Her heart was racing in her chest. She wasn’t sure exactly what was going on. Why Roz was looking at her like that. Why her body was reacting to it in such a way. Why there was a burst of energy between them when they touched. Nat reached up and took hold of Roz’s hand and used it to make the sign for “lips”. It was just the dragging of a finger around the area. Then she reached out and did it to Roz, using the same hand, and then released it, using her own to trace the soft, pink skin.

Roz started blushing, a light flame flickered in her hand as Nat traced her lips. Roz slowly leaned in and traced Nat’s lips, before leaning back and pouring Nat a drink since it was a really easy sign. Roz watched as Nat drank the liquid in her glass before asking for another word. “K-Kiss?” Roz hiccuping lightly.

Something besides alcohol warmed Nat’s stomach as she took her shot and heard the word that Roz requested next. She put her glass down, and scooted to the edge of the desk. Practically in Roz’s lap. She brought her hand to her cheek and traced a line with her fingers from the corner of her mouth to her cheek bone as if guiding a kiss to her cheek.

Roz smiled as Nat traced on her face, the gentle touch of her fingers. As Nat finished there was a silent moment that lasted a couple seconds, and then she just leaned forward and kissed Nat.

The moment Roz’s lips met hers, fireworks ignited behind her eyelids. It surprised her so much, she jumped back. She looked into each of her eyes, before leaning forward and kissing her back. She slid the rest of the way off the desk so she was sitting on Roz’s lap, her arms twining around her neck to pull her closer. In this moment, everything she thought they were exploded into dust and she had no idea what they would be now. Was it the alcohol? Was it real? They flirted all the time, but did it mean something more than just teasing?

Roz wasn’t sure what made her lean in and kiss Nat, but there was nothing making her back away, it all felt natural. Roz’s arms wrapped around Nat’s lower back and pulled her in tight going deeper into the kiss.

Nat grasped at Roz’s hair, her cloak, whatever she could grab as the kiss deepened. It was getting to the point where she couldn’t figure out where one girl ended and the other began. They were two souls floating in the ether of the universe. At least, she felt so light it was almost as if she were floating. Her heart was racing, pounding so forcefully she knew Roz could feel it too. She wondered if she knew what else she was feeling. How badly she wanted more. How she couldn’t seem to pull Roz close enough. How Roz’s warm touch was heat, was fire on her skin.

Someone cleared their throat, Nat gasped so hard she choked.

Across the room, sitting up in her bed, and watching them with an amused grin. ”I’ll pretend I didn’t see that if you pour me a glass of my liquor.”

XXXXThe last thing Meg remembered was standing on the bridge, commanding her crew... oh and the new girl who kept arguing with her. She built this ship and its crew from the ground up. One would think that would make her an expert on the subject. Obviously, Gadget did not.

Which is why Meg was dumbfounded when she woke back in her room on her bed. At first, she wondered if it had all been a dream. Then she heard sounds on the other end of her room and she rose to potentially attack and froze. If she hadn't been dreaming before she woke she had to have been dreaming after. There, in her chair was her first pilot and her gunner engaging in a dance of tonsil tango while an open bottle of her favorite whiskey was open on her desk and nearly empty. Needless to say, she spoke up because she could only handle so much of that.

She made an inquiry as to how she ended up back in her room and was met with... vague answers. The only one really given was that the new girl--Eon--had somehow helped her and Nat and Roz had carried her back to her room to rest until she regained consciousness. When Meg made further inquiries...she was met with "go find her and ask her". Paraphrased, of course.

So here stands the captain of the Stardust, who had left two very drunk and probably very turned on crew members in her cabin--something she was sure to regret when she returned--and wandered through her ship to the door of Gadget. Her arm raised, fist prepared to knock, but she paused. Hesitance wasn't a trait of Meg's. She was unfamiliar with the sensation of faltering, but she couldn't wrap her head around what happened and she couldn't even begin to figure out how she would approach the subject once she entered the room.

She lowered her arm and turned as if to walk away, but found herself spinning back around and staring, once more, at the girl's door. Just knock, Cunningham. Get ahold of yourself. For stars' sake. She took a deep breath and raised her hand once more, only this time, she brought it down in three hard knocks. "I have a hell of a lot of gaps in my memories that need filling and a hell of a lot of questions that need answering so if you would be so kind as to open this damn door we may commence with the conversation." It took everything in her not to pound her head against the door in frustration.

What was she new to language? Was she born yesterday? What the hell was that?

Gadget tensed at the first hard knock. She already knew who it was. It was a few seconds later before she decided she’d let her in. Gadget was tempted to pretend she didn't hear the knocks.. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she got out the bed. “Well, she took longer than I thought she would,” she murmured. Gadget opened the door and looked at Hellfire. She just knew she was not happy. Although, at this point, it seemed as if Hellfire was never happy. Hellfire just seemed angry all of the time. She sigh again. Her own mood wasn’t the best. She was cold, tired, and her head was pounding. Also, hunger was starting to make itself known.

“Hello Hellfire. I can fill in one of your memory gaps. You may need professional help if you have a hell of a lot of of gaps in your memory. Maybe too much drinking is the cause... she said, her voice turning condescending in the end. A sigh escaped her lips again as she realized she had to try not to make things worst. She rolled her shoulders back and moved out of the doorway.

”Just come in. Try not to interrupt, yell, or cause a fire. You have worsened my mood with your obnoxious knocking and I have had no time to rest after healing you. I would think you could have given me some time to rest before coming to be unpleasant to me again,” she said. Gadget turned around and walked over to her bed. She was tempted to lay down, but just sat cross legged on her pillow. Gadget grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around her shoulders. Once settled and comfortable enough, she looked at Hellfire. Her lips pressed together in distaste..

“Here is the short version. While we were dealing with Et Salvus, someone said to hold on to something...and you didn’t. You went flying and hit your head on something metal...” she paused and took in a deep breath, “Once we were safe, I...healed you. In the process, I had to straddle you. It was the easiest way to do my healing without moving you too much...Although, I guess it may have looked like I straddled you and kissed your neck. To make things clear now, I didn’t kiss your neck. I just cupped your ear to be able to...sing...into it. It is one of the two ways we healed. I decided singing would be the more acceptable way.”

She had to stop talking, so she could rub her face. Gadget finally felt warm because she had started to blush once she mentioned straddling. She knew she just did it to heal, but she wasn’t sure how Hellfire would take it. Roz had thought she kissed Hellfire’s neck. She could imagine the rumors that would grow from that comment. Gadget gave up with trying to rub the blush away after thirty seconds. She placed her hands in her lap and laced her fingers together. Gadget focused on her hands and cleared her voice softly.

“What are you questions? I didn’t bring Et Salvus here if that is what you are thinking. It wouldn't be too smart of me to do that. They do have a bounty on my head...you can look it up. Just search my name...Eon Casper,” she added. She unlaced her fingers to use her left index finger to trace the scar on her right arm. It helped her not feel so anxious. She didn't think she would like Hellfire's questions. Also, memories had started to trickle in.

XXXXMeg felt a sense of relief as the door opened. She hadn't fucked up after all. She was about to turn on some semblance of charm when the girl spoke and Meg closed her mouth, anger simmering. So much for that. She thought and crossed her arms. She squeezed her hands into fists in an attempt to keep them from flaming. The girl stepped aside, allowing her entry, but the way she spoke to Meg made her pause. No one on The Stardust was allowed to speak to their captain that way. It meant they didn't have her respect and therefore, she didn't trust them in turn.

And since she didn't trust the girl, she found herself standing outside the door longer than she had originally planned and obviously longer than the girl had the patience for since she turned and walked back into her room. Probably to perch on her bed. Meg took the moment to compose herself. She was being spoken to in a manner she wasn't overly fond of, she had apparently been healed by this girl, she had been insulted by this girl... but she also hadn't been very nice to this girl. Not that Meg was ever really nice to new people. It was all about trust. If she was to get the whole story, however, she was going to have to trust even just a little bit. She doubted the girl was waiting to trap her on the other side of the door. And even if she was, Meg was confident she could take her down. Just go in the room! Meg silently commanded herself, and she stepped inside.

The girl's room was neat, of course, not much in it considering she's only been there a day and a half at this point. There was a bag on the floor, partially open with some clothes spilling out. Other than that the room was devoid of anything personal. If the girl was going to stay a part of the crew, she'd definitely acquire more belongings. She stood, arms crossed, and waited. She could see the look of distaste the girl was sending her way and she resisted every instinct that told her to do something in retaliation. Her middle finger was her favorite, but she needed to be nice. She needed to listen.

What the girl started to explain wasn't what Meg was expecting. Once she said the girl had to straddle her to heal her (which was interesting in and of itself), Meg found other things to look at that weren't the girl. If it was any other girl, she would've made some dirty joke or flirtatious comment. The girl wasn't exactly hard to look at. It was like she embodied softness. Soft curves, soft curls, soft features. However, her words were hard and pointed like a knife. Maybe "Scalpel" would've been a better alias. She shook herself from her thoughts as the girl continued.

Finally, a name to go with the face. she thought to herself. Of course, Eon had introduced herself to her earlier and Roz and the others had already taken to calling her "Gadget", but Meg preferred someone's real name until they earned their alias. She actually hadn't chosen the name Hellfire. It was given to her, but that was a story for another time. Once Eon finished speaking, prompting Meg to ask her questions. She opened her mouth to speak and then closed it, taking in all the information and organizing it into thoughts and questions. Honestly, the girl had answered all the questions she had wanted to ask. Well.. nearly all of them. However, the first order of business was...

[color=#e67f00]"You'll be reassigned to the med bay."
She paused, allowing her order time to sink in before she explained. "You don't need to use your power if you don't want to, but you should be able to help. We don't get injured too often beyond bumps and burns outside of combat. This means you're free to do whatever until the time comes, but when we face Et Salvos, I'll need you in the med bay. You might want to get acquainted with your team before the next hit." She took a deep breath, giving the girl a chance to process before she started with her questions.

Or... well... question.

"What does Et Salvos want with you?"

Eon stayed still as she waited for her to speak. Have I left her speechless? When Hellfire finally spoke, she stared at her for a few seconds. Her lips twitched as she tried to keep her face expressionless. Eon listened as she cleared her initial thoughts of what she just said. Her thoughts stopped when Meg finally asked a question. She ignored the gooseflesh she felt on her skin. Eon shifted from her sitting position. Slowly, to not startle Hellfire, she moved to the edge of the bed. She thought of standing, but instead she leaned back and stretched her legs out over the bed. She looked up at Meg. Her fingers gripped the sheets as she tried to think of the simplest answer to her question. She closed her eyes. The last question she wanted to answer was this one.

“Well, according to them…” she paused to take in another deep breath, “…because I lost and destroyed valuable property. I stole important property and information. Translation, I helped experiments, or like they called them, research participants, escape. Also, when I was about to help the l-” She couldn’t help the shutter that ran through her body. Eon stood up, opened her eyes, and walked around Hellfire. Eon went to the window and looked at the stars. “Well, before I could even help the last one escape, my sister caught me. She said she’d help me get this last one out…I decided I’d leave with h-, it,” she said. Her heartbeat pounded against her chest, like a trapped and frantic beast.

“Everything went wrong with trying to get it out,” she said. She crossed her arms and swallowed. “Before s-, it died..sh-, it gave me something. It is a living thing that lives inside of me now. It gave me my ability to heal. It lived in h-, the experiment before. Now I am responsible for it. I prom-” she gasped, cutting off her sentence suddenly. She couldn’t talk about it fully still. Eon bit her bottom lip and blinked quickly so tears wouldn’t fall. Eon felt overwhelmed as too many emotions ran through her at once. She was able to brush most of the memories away that tried to come to the forefront. Eon took slow deep breaths until she stopped shaking. She hadn’t even notice she had started to.

She only stayed silent for a few seconds though. Eon felt as if she said too much. It felt nice to tell someone something, but she felt raw, vulnerable, now. She likely just told the unfriendliest person on the ship as well. Eon didn’t want to start a fight with Hellfire, but she just thought of how she was to be assigned to the med bay. Also, she needed a change in topic. She was done with questions for the day. Eon already knew she wouldn’t be able to sleep after this lovely conversation.

“One more thing. I am not telling you what to do, but I would strongly advise you don’t move me to the med bay. I am not good with people. I don’t like touching them or being touched by them. It’s one of my issues...I’ll help whenever we encounter Et Salvos, but it would be best to not assign me there,” she paused, “I can help in the med bay if ever needed, if it doesn’t involve my powers, but I’ve been told my hands aren’t meant to touch anything living. They are only meant for machines I have been told. I helped in a med bay before and there were complaints. Living things are much more complicated than machines. Speaking of machines...”

“When are we landing? I’d like to check out the rudders, especially after Banshee’s turns,” she added as she turned around to face Hellfire.
