Hello, everyone! First off, I'd like to establish that this roleplay and everything inside solely belongs to Stark Contrast and with her permission, she's given me the opportunity to reboot it. "Man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides."
André Malraux

It starts in a small town, far to the Northeast of Louisiana, near the mountainous valleys painted with the brush of forest which seems to stretch endlessly for miles and miles underneath the billowing fog of the dew mornings, not too far from this haven of nature, there exists Elk River, the perfect place for any family to settle down, and despite it's size, it seems bigger than life in it's own ways. Everyone seems to know one another, functions are held every other week for people to comfortably mingle with one another, it's often that you'll see a face you recognize, but that is simply a commodity afforded by the friendly, and communicative residents here.

Yet, even in this relative peace, there lies a sense of eeriness, there's this recognition that beneath it all, this town is a little abnormal, the people here too friendly, the town almost too perfect. It's no secret that there are many old wives tales of this seemingly ancient little establishment, its founders unknown, and it's history more concealed than the moon on a foggy night. Most humans aren't aware of the deep cultural roots of the town, it was once known as a 'Hub' of sorts, for creatures that could only exist in the oldest of tales. The ignorant typically laugh at the insinuation that beings such as these even exist, but perhaps worse than this is the fact that many of them live right under their noses, seemingly as normal as any other civilized being, living lives comparable to the humans who should in every right fear them.

Long ago these beings thrived here, built their own livelihood away from meddlesome humans, safe to build their own society in the deep forests, but as time moved on the humans encroached on their haven, overpopulating what they considered to be their town, and these beings could do nothing but watch as even Elk River belonged to the humans they tried to escape from. It was perhaps fate that they would once again meet with the mortals who designated them as 'The Occult'. Centuries later, these supernatural beings keep a tight leash on themselves lest they catch the attention of the ever watching, and long feared Venatores.

A new generation of Occult have seemed to rise from the previous, coming to terms with their abilities, and their new roles in life as either students or young adults. Life in Elk River goes on as normal. Whatever you are, you cope with it in your own way, and hope to forge an identity of your own, but even someone like you won't be able to resist the stirrings in the air, something or someone wants to change Elk River, maybe for better, maybe for worse. In any case, it's obvious that the balance between the Occult, Venators, and the ever blissful humans is about to tip over, no one will be able to escape it, and no one will be able to avert their eyes away. One could say, that's how it should have always been.

I'll just like to take the time and thank everyone who expresses interest and joins the roleplay. I hope we have a great time writing an incredible story with one another. While there are some school related themes involved within this roleplay, this is certainly not a school roleplay. Though, if you have a character that's in school, I do not mind if there is a post here or there from the establishment. This is much more of a supernatural, mystery type of roleplay. There are numerous threads set up for you and to make things easier so please make sure you refer to them. The information within each thread has been written by Stark Contrast. I do not own anything within the threads.

The trees hidden within the deep forest of Elk River have turned to a bright, orange color, signaling the season of Fall. It was in the air and people were really enjoying the atmosphere that surrounded the town, as well. But little did they know, the atmosphere was going to change any time soon. It's currently a Friday, which signals the first weekend within the town as everyone knew what that meant. The Fall Festival had just came into town and went the night hours arrived, the gates would be open and the ride would light up the downtown area from afar. People had plenty of time to get ready though as the kids were still in school, which was almost about to dismiss and most people were still at work. But what will happen when all of the occults and humans mingle at the Fall Festival just mere hours away within the day.

Time: 2:15 - 2:55 P.M. | Location: Cafe De Flore → Her house

Her eyes fluttered up from her cellphone as her name was being called by the barista at the Cafe De Flore. She thanked him with a smile as she walked outside and went back down to look at her cellphone. Her boss was asking her if she could work tonight but she was attending the opening night of the Fall Festival and couldn't miss it. She just had to be there to see all of the glitz and glamour of the first night.

She had took a sip from her coffee as she tucked her phone back into her purse and removed a few strands of hair from her face. She trailed down the sidewalk as she felt a presence nearby. Her feet stopped as she tightened her fist and turned heel to deliver a punch to massive male but he caught her by the wrist. It was Sawyer - An occult within the clan she was apart of. "A bit on edge, are we?" Sawyer's husky voice spoke as he released her wrist and she dropped her hand back by her side.

"Sorry. I knew I felt a presence, just didn't think it was you." Nicole responded as Sawyer chuckled and started to walked alongside of her. "So, are you going to the Fall Festival tonight?" Nicole asked Sawyer as he chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. It seems like a kiddie thing." Sawyer responded. "Uhm, it's not. It's a town thing, actually. Don't expect you to be there, anyway. I know the head honchos have you on a mission or something." She said as she finished off her coffee and dropped it in a nearby trash can.

"You know what, I might just show up." Sawyer finally responded as Nicole nodded her head and waved goodbye towards him as she went back to her car and got inside of it. She drove home with no problem and no school traffic, yet as she got out and went inside of her home. There, she just tossed her keys and purse onto the counter right beside the front door and plopped down onto the couch. She wondered to herself what she was going to do between the time of now and getting ready for the festival tonight. She eventually decided to take a short nap as that was the best thing to do at this moment.

Time: 2:10 - 2:30 PM | Location: Sweet Spot Bakery

Bonnie smiled at the buzz that passed the Sweet Spot. It was news to the Fortenberrys that the first weekend of fall was a festival around these parts, but the excitement was infectious. Even on the short notice, her dad and her already started baking and setting out some more seasonal goodies, starting from just yesterday. And they sure had been working, the demand for them was a nice surprise for both of them.
"Bonnie, darling?"
"Yeah dad?"
"I'm gonna go get Jenny from school, think you can hold the fort here?" Since they were new, Bonnie and her parents had been making sure they got to Jenny's school plenty early. Give it time, and they'd eventually feel comfortable letting her wait a little if they had to. Heck, she may decide she felt like walking home instead. Which Bonnie mildly dreaded, but that was a worry for another day.
"No problem. Oh! Here!"
She ducked under the counter briefly. She rose again to hand her father a little paper bag, striped in pale blue and emblazoned with the Sweet Spot logo. Her dad took it, and peeked in. He closed it again with a deep chuckle.
"Some extra pumpkin peanut butter cookies." He confirmed.
"Just like we used to make for Halloween," Bonnie added with a firm nod. "Well, besides the spiderweb icing." Her dad turned away with a nod, and sneakily plucked one for himself as the door jingled behind him. As if Bonnie couldn't see him through the storefront window. Well, the pumpkin peanut butter cookies had always been his and Jenny's thing around this time of year. Personally, give Bonnie a candied apple any day. She wondered if they could buy one when they all visited the festival tonight.

With her father gone, Bonnie quickly surveyed the clear display counter. It looked a little bare, but it'd probably hold out until Sweet Spot closed at 4. The bell above the door jingled to alert Bonnie of a customer. She looked up to see a woman carrying a very young girl, clearly too small to be in school. Bonnie smiled her best winning smile.
"Hi there!" She greeted. The mom looked up, but the little one ignored Bonnie in favour of examining the menagerie of delights in the counter.
"Hi," The mom replied. "We got some of those gingerbread leaf cookies yesterday? She loved them. Honey, do you want to ask the nice lady for more leaves?" The lady looked at her little girl. Bonnie let out a mock gasp.
"Gingerbread! Your teeth must be big and strong to have gingerbread!"
"Mama, 's not there." The little girl frowned and pointed down into the counter. The mother and Bonnie followed her gaze to the blank tray, marked with a label and a quick doodle of a leaf. Should have known somebody'd come in wanting the one thing they'd ran out of.
"Oh, shoot, well-" Bonnie cut off the mom.
"Hold on, lemme check, I think there might be some in the back." She assured. She knew there weren't any in the back. However, there were some cupcakes waiting to refill the cupcake trays, and that would be the work of a moment. She stepped into the kitchen and arranged three of those side by side, away from the others.

Bonnie quickly glanced around the blissfully empty kitchen. Then she turned back to the three cupcakes with an excited grin, and tapped each one in turn.
"Bibbidy, bobbidy, boo,"
She whispered, as with each tap the cupcake changed in a small shower of orange sparks. Her work finished, what sat before her were now three gingerbread leaves, complete with their autumn coloured icing. She picked them up and held them up in triumph as she stepped back out into the store proper.
"Well, whadda you know!" She smiled as the little girl bounced up and down and tugged on her mother. "Seems a few extra were hiding back there." She handed the mother one, and received a grateful smile for her efforts, and placed the others into the tray, just in case. She quickly rang up their purchase of a gingerbread leaf, and waved goodbye to them with smiles all round.

Mercy sat slumped at her desk, the scent of the lemon oil that had been used the night before to polish the hard wood filled her nose and she sighed deeply before sitting up straight and looking down at the file that sat before her. The small room was warm and it made the scent of the oil more profound and the sickly sweet scent of the Vanilla Pumpkin coffee her partner had brought in caused her stomach to roll. Mercy hated all things pumpkin but the sweet gesture had made it difficult for her just to throw it out but it had been sitting on her desk sense seven o'clock this morning and it was now a little after two in the afternoon.

Grumbling the dainty woman stood to her severely lacking height of 5'1 and slammed the case file shut, no matter how many times Mercy stared at it the facts didn't make any sense. It was almost as if this case had jumped out of one of her brothers books, picking up the coffee she evenly distributed it between her potted plants hoping the sugar and caffeine wouldn't kill them before snatching her jacket and purse. "I'm heading out, no matter what I do I cant figure out that case an being stuck in here isn't making me think any better. Hopefully I'll have an epiphany about it tonight." she practically growled out to her partner who had been making small talk with one of the patrol officers in the pen. His deep booming laugh seemed to follow her out of the building.

Taking a deep breath of air through her mouth, Mercy could almost taste the excitement in the air. The Fall Festival always drew a large crowd of townsfolk along with tourists from nearby towns. It also seemed to also pull a large crowd of criminals but lucky for her, after a eighteen hour work day due to that stupid case that she was no where near having any leads on, she was not on call and could enjoy it and some time with her brother."Detective Kyles!" came a squeaky voice to her left, she hadn't even made it two blocks from the prescient and she was already being chased by reporters. Making eye contact with the tall but slumped over mouse of a woman, Mercy raised her eyebrows in question. "Are there any leads on the Green case?" the reporter asked.

It didn't matter how many times Mercy and the other Detectives told the Reporters and the community that they cant comment on ongoing investigations they always ask. Always with the reasoning that 'the people deserve to know'. "Miss Daniels, as always, I cant comment on ongoing investigations though we are always looking for tips. If you hear anything please feel free to share." she said as respectfully as possible.

After extracting herself from the whining reporter and being stopped by a few residents she knew well, Mercy was finally on her way home. All she wanted to do was take off her work clothes and slip on her favorite exercise clothes to train off her stress before getting ready for the night which she knew Malcom would drag her to the activities. Her sensitive nose caught scent of rain and a small smile curved her lips, it was a few miles away so it wouldn't ruin the night but the fresh scent of wet earth would greet her in the morning. Finally making it to her home Mercy sighed in relief. Time for some training and then relaxation.

After losing track of time, Malcom was only now walking toward the bakery. He had meant to get there early in the morning so he could bring his sister some of her favorite gingerbread cookies and cranberry cupcakes to convince her that going to the Festival would be fun but of course the thirty minutes he had decided to right for had turned into close to eight hours. Eight freaking hours, now there is a good thing to come from it which was that he is now only four chapters and editing away from being able to publish his current book. Pushing his thick dark hair from his face as a playful breeze decided to tug on it, straightening his shoulders so he stood at his impressive height of 6'4.

Holding the door as a woman and child walked through he slipped inside the warm and fragrant shop, "Good afternoon!" he greeted the pretty girl behind the counter, "Now, I know this is a long shot but you wouldn't happen to have any of your gingerbread cookies and cranberry cupcakes left would you? I'm trying to bribe my sister into coming to the festival with me tonight." he said with his most charming smile as he leaned his hip against the counter. Malcom's eyes wondered down her body almost of their own accord before he snapped them back to her face with a slight shake of his head, as if he was scolding himself for being rude.

With a flirtatious grin he winked, "Though, if you come with me instead I would be more then pleased and I wont have to bribe my sister into being my date. smiling his eyes darted to the display searching for his bribes, even if the pretty bakery girl said yes he would still need the bribes for his sister to make sure she left isolation and had some fun.

"The lighting techniques used in the early cinema of the late 1890s and the first years of the twentieth century were astonishingly primitive in comparison with those used in still photography. Filmmakers of that era did not adopt the range of artificial lighting that was already standard equipment in photographic studios and widely used by photographers to enhance the aesthetic appearance of their work. Instead, filmmakers relied almost entirely on bright daylight. For this reason, when films were not shot on location they were filmed on rooftop sets, or else in studios built with either an open air design or a glass roof." Coralia read out loud in her last of the day, History of Lighting and Technology in Film. Looking quickly at the clock she almost sighed with relief. Only fifteen more minutes then she could go home and get ready for tonight.

Her turn to read was over so, as she was prone to do, Coralia started to zone out. "MISS TIDES!" a yell startled her, looking up into her teachers irritated face she pouted. She very much disliked being scolded and it was guaranteed that she would be sense the professor in this course never yelled which meant he had wanted her attention for some time. "Now, I know this isn't a very interesting class, I also know that with the activates happening tonight its even harder to pay attention but please try next time." he scolded before walking back to the front of the room. "Homework is due next Wednesday, enjoy tonight. Stay safe." he dismissed the class.

Practically running from the school Coralia made it home in record time and raced inside, "MOM! I'm HOOOOMMMMEE!" she called out and was greeted by a deep husky laugh before her father picked her up and spun, giggling in delight when he finally put her down she smiled before rushing up to her room to do some of her homework before enjoying the Festival.

Jack woke to a few different feelings. There was an aching in her neck and back, pressure on her shoulders, and a sharp pricking on her scalp.

After a few moments, she realized where those feelings were coming from. Troi was standing on her back, and Churchill was perched on her head, pulling a strand of her hair. As for the ache, it was because she had fallen asleep sitting at her desk, her face against an open book.

She groaned, “Okay, guys, I’m up! I’m up.”

As she sat up straight, Troi hopped onto the desk and Churchill fluttered to her shoulder. She reached out her hand and the cat rubbed against it. “Thanks for waking me up.”

Jack glanced at the clock on the wall and her heat skipped a beat.

It was almost time for work. Oh no.

She stood up fast, startling the animals, and ran upstairs to her bedroom. She got dressed quick, not bothering to put together a nice outfit, just throwing on the first things she found. She grabbed her phone and rushed out the door, giving a quick goodbye to Gideon and Sunny.

Upon setting foot outside her house, she transformed. In her place stood an American Crow, who took off into the air.

Jack flew over the town, taking in the sights. She could never get tired of this. She had almost completely forgotten about her previous frantic mood. As she passed over her favorite bakery, she remembered how hungry she was. Whoops, well, no time for breakfast now. Whatever, it wasn’t the end of the world. Plus, it would be more like lunch at this hour.

She was lucky to get an afternoon shift at the bookstore; “bright and early” never was her thing. On top of that, the store was closing early because of the festival. It was going to be an easy day.

She landed on the window sill of the Rabbit Hole Bookstore and shifted back in to a human, sitting with her legs hanging into the room. Her boss, Carol, barely batted an eye.

“Can’t you ever just use the door like a regular person?”

Jack smiled, “Of course not. Gotta make a cool entrance.”

Carol just snorted out a laugh and continued stocking books.

Jack hopped down from the window and took her place at the register, chatting with some of the regulars.

"What?"

*She tilted her head just a tad to the right in confusion and intrest. The look of anger on Persephone's face almost catching her off guard before she collected herself again. She was stronger then that. Persephones voice was vile, resonating through her head as if it were comming from all around her. A maniacle smirk slowly played across Persphones pale pink lips. Her eyes finally opened only to look at her reflection as if contemplating her decision. 'I think I will deal with this later' She thought to herself as her black, military grade, combat boots slapped against the tile floor of her weapons/safe room. Running the tips of her fingers through her currently short black hair to pull it from her eyes she sighed heavily*

"When I get back from the festival we are going to finish this little chat."

*She wore black cargo pants that tucked into the top of her combat boots to hold it in place. Her top was a light grey tank top with what seemed like black leather armor wrapped around her rib cage and into a V just below her collar bone making her D sized breasts seem almost too perfect. She had a FO4-Reddit strapped to her upper right thigh, an 8 inch serrated blade connected to the belt around her curvy hips in a sheeth on her left, and two small silver gernades hooked onto an easy release pin on her opposite hip. Taking an access card from her left side pocket she slides it through a card reader to her right on the center of the metal wall. The wall split in half and began to slide into the wall on the opposite end, disappearing and letting her get a full, unobstructed view of her half furnished basment. She made her way up the basement stairs and up to her bedroom loft to change out of her military clothes.*

* It was 3:10 pm on the thin, silver watch wrapped around her frail wrist. The clouds were bundled together in a dark mess, making the world seem dull and grey. She inhaled slowly, smelling the humid moisture in the air. ' Its going to rain...' She thought while the wind whipped her black hair across her face, making her hand subconsciously brush it back out of her eyes. She wore a dingy yellow dress made to look old that flowered just above her knees, covered in street names and monuments from New England. On the V shaped chest the words "We all have demons..." was scrawled across it showing off her robust, D sized breasts. The back of it open with lace around the edges, showing her bare shoulder blades where two thin scars lined either side of her spine a few inches down. Her black short heels crunching against the gravel while she made her way towards her BMW 528i in the drive way. Getting in, not bothering to put her seat belt on, she started the engine enjoying its low growl as it idled. She drove into town through the curvy roads lined with dense forest the color of orange and red for about twenty minutes before pulling into the parking lot of the Mall. A small smile played across her pale lips as her gleaming red hues stared at the clouds for a moment, enjoying the smell of rain coming. Spinning her keys around her pointer finger by the ring holding them together she walked across the parking lot and towards the doors. Walking through she scanned the area, trying not to focus on the pressure growing in her chest. Her eyes settled on a single pulse emenating from a few feet infront of her. Dragging the tip of her tongue across the sharp points of her extended canines, she inhaled slowly through her nose, her body shivering as the hunger grew in her chest slowly. ' Mmmm Don't you smell delicious....' The intense hunger made goosebumps rise along her pale grey flesh like waves. Her pupils dilating and pulsing with her own, now racing, heart beat before she suddenly stood up straight, taking a long deep breath and holding it. 'Fight it...' She exhaled slowly, feeling her heart slow down. She pushed open the bakery door, making the bell ring as it shut behind her. Her voice was soft, quiet, but mesmerizing like Stevie Knicks singing voice when she spoke.*

"Well....Hello there...."

*She said with a small smile playing across her lips while she made her way around and stood next to Malcom. Her face brimming with happiness as if she were putting on a facade to hide her pain.*

Lucian grumbled as class concluded on the note of their being a test the next day on stage effects in regards to their impact on the performance. Lighting was something he could understand well enough, after all the people had to actually see the stage and performers -otherwise it wouldn't be a play. The hard part though was acoustics - there were so many technical words and simply stating "project your voice" wouldn't cover it...he'd have to get a music person to explain it or find a book to put things simply. However when class ended that still didn't keep him from blitzing from the room at full speed while cursing for quite possibly the ten thousandth time that things were difficult in balancing work with school. Still true to himself by delaying the inevitable, the young incubus hustled to his apartment and dropped off his school stuff before tweaking his appearance - especially along the jawline for a more mature look.

'Got any plans for the festival tonight?'The text was sent using his "work" phone, put simply the one he didn't use when being a student to his friend Kell. While unhealthily stressing at the notion of the exam, Lucian was planning for his "stress eating" in the evening. It just so happened that he was of the opinion that his friend would have an idea to make a simple meal more appealing - if not just make for a better pool to fish through with two handsome men to draw out potential admirers. Before leaving the apartment, Lucian donned a modern business casual style of appearance: black v-neck but still kept the suit jacket boldly bearing the Callidora family crest on the lapel. He gave a quick nod to his equally tired "sister" on the way out on his way to the bookstore, despite proximity he still elected to borrow a discreet yet still expensive vehicle for the drive since he didn't feel like carrying a book around.

Having never been to the establishment before, Lucian took advantage to the fascinated if somewhat repulsed atmosphere the more long time residents had to his familial crest and cut his way towards the woman behind the counter. His current splitting left him less than half as powerful as he would whole; rather than risk potential backfire by trying to manipulate the feelings of the room Lucian opted to just go in raw. Despite being uncomfortable without his usual advantage he managed a friendly smile while leaning against the counter.

" You wouldn't happen to have a book on acoustics - specifically one related to stagecraft. Preferably of the 'for dummies' type of explanation... my little brother needs help seeing why he as a thespian needs to understand the subject." Despite interrupting an earlier conversation between the employee and another female customer, Lucian was banking on the fact that his natural incubus scent would intoxicate the pair enough where his low level 'I'm handsome' approach would get him what he wanted quickly.

Unlike her "brother", Lilis - Lily as she preferred had a much easier day at school. The dance department currently didn't have any nearby exams so other than standard lecture and practice she essentially didn't do anything. If anything, compared to the stringent level of drills the family had done for their expected "performances" Lily found the current level of practice rather lukewarm. The best part was unlike Lucian, she didn't actually have class the next day which meant there wouldn't be any extra brain noise as their minds sorted through the two differing perspectives while retaining their balance as a single entity... or whatever the explanation the clan book had on bi-location. The point was, she was annoyed that the book said that mastery would allow teleportation and both parties to act with the full power of the original single body but she was stuck at a mere 40%.

The internal grumbling kept the girl occupied until she met her other half as she entered the apartment. As she'd won the morning's contest - she got to check out the new bakery and much like Lucian, Lilis had no intention of going about the evening as she did for school. As a succubus, Lilis on required a quick rinse to freshen up after practice before putting on an outfit purchased for her as a gift from a relatively recent toy. However she didn't wear the purple boots the purchaser had intended to go with the rest of the look. Instead she opted to go with a longer, dark bootie and stockings to try out the 'zettai ryouiki' type of look she'd overheard some guys in a computer lab talk about the previous week. Despite personally finding the concept rather strange, the Succubus opted to let the results of a couple trials determine if the theme had a spot in her wardrobe. After checking the initial result of her experiment herself, the lady no one would believe to actually be a sixteen year old girl hurried off to the bakery she'd come to hear about.

On arrival, her first impression of the place was that it was definitely cute and homely - it was also rather crowded. Undeterred the succubus entered the establishment with intent of satisfying a sweet-tooth. However as her eyes were greeted with the crowd of the room - and in particular a face all-too-similar to that of an author she liked to read, a woman in a yellow dress and the girl behind the counter. Lily couldn't help but lightly arch her eyebrows since she was used to usually (always if she could sneak in the adjustments) being the most attractive person in the room by no small margin. The succubus couldn't help but think that in this particular case...the margin was a bit too close for comfort. In particular the woman in the yellow dress seemed...off and despite being a "Mistress of Fornication" Lily found herself unable to quite identify the tension the woman exuded. Rather embarrassingly, Lily found herself wishing Lucian was here to be the adorable dolt and reset the atmosphere.

“As stunning as always, Ezekiel.” The photographer praised, resulting in a lopsided grin from the vampire.

"You flatter me, Chris." He chuckled, pulling his shirt over his head, "Without your eye for detail, I really doubt the photos would turn out so good." Modesty wasn't something Kell was accustomed to, but when you're trying to get into the pants of your employer; he was willing to kiss some ass. Chris simply responded with a wave of his hand, dismissing him for the rest of the day.

He grabbed his belongings, looking down at his phone to see a new text from Lucian. What is my devilish friend up to now? He pondered as he unlocked his phone. The text was a simple question, asking if he had plans for the festival in the evening. Frankly, he hadn't really planned on going. Alcohol and crowds resulted in messes and Ezekiel didn't need to be around people with liquor in their veins. Humans were irrational when drunk, made stupid mistakes and got themselves hurt. He knew someone was bound to be bleeding tonight. Running away from his urges wasn't the solution, and with a forfeited sigh, he sent the lad a text.

Not really, no. I'm free tonight if you're offering, could use a distraction. (;

Hitting send, Ezekiel mad his way down the stairwell of the building. There were a few places he wanted to visit before retiring to his house until the festival. Mostly, he wanted decent attire for the festivities, especially if he planned to go. He couldn't exactly go to a festival about fall wearing summer attire. Chuckling to himself, the young man finally exited the building, taking a deep exhale. It was fairly cozy out, humidity hanging in the air as a forewarning of rain. Making his way towards his vehicle, Kell unlocked the Lincoln. A gift he bought himself for his last birthday, despite the fact he longer aged. Sometimes it was better to indulge in mundane desires. Being already in downtown, Kell had no reason to drive. In fact, he was simply tossing a few thing into the car from the photoshoot.

Having lived in the city for a good while, Kell was proud of knowing his whereabouts. He had always been one to get lost when he lived in Wales, yet he found it easy to navigate in the quaint town. A menswear store was close by and he had planned to shop there, but a rather cute little bakery caught his eyes. He didn't recognize it.

It was crowded, a few faces he recognized, but most were unknown to him. "I could use a damn coffee." He spoke to himself, entering the store with a smirk. He wore a cheerful expression, despite the tension that seemed to grow between three of the people. "Business is booming today, isn't it?" He spoke to the woman behind the counter, interrupting what little conversation she and the other customer was having, especially since Miss Tits seemed to grab his attention. He leaned over the counter, a large grin taking up his face, "Bonnie, is it?" He asked, nodding to the girl's nametag. "Could you do me a solid and get me a black coffee? No rush though, I can see you're very busy." Fishing out his wallet, he pulled out a crisp twenty, laying it on the counter with a wink, "Keep the change."

Tossing a thumb behind him, he motioned to a small table that rested outside the bakery, "I'll be out there, yeah?"

After an hour and a half of work, Jack's good mood turned to dread as she was approached by one of the regulars, Janice. It's not that Janice was a particularly bad person. Jack didn't dislike her, per se, but dear god was she a motormouth. Every time she came to the Rabbit Hole, she would buy her books and then stay at the register for an eternity and talk the ears off of whichever poor soul was stuck there.

Jack was just just smiling and nodding while Janice talked about her trip to the grocery store earlier (in excruciating detail, of course), when a sharply-dressed man entered the store. Jack's heart soared as he approached the counter and asked for a book on acoustics.

"Of course! Follow me," she said, taking the opportunity to escape.

She led her savior to the arts section, stepping over cardboard boxes full of used books. They had just gotten a lot of book donations recently and still had to get them on the shelves. Until then, the store would remain rather cluttered (or, at least more cluttered than usual).

"Alright, the books on theater are around here. We should have what you need." She motioned to the general area on the shelf where the theater books were kept.

"So, I haven't seen you in here before. I'm Jack. Nice to meet you."

Bonnie smiled brightly as another customer entered, a man only a bit older than herself.
"Hi!" She greeted.
"Good afternoon!" he returned "Now, I know this is a long shot but you wouldn't happen to have any of your gingerbread cookies and cranberry cupcakes left would you? I'm trying to bribe my sister into coming to the festival with me tonight." Bonnie nodded firmly.
"Though, if you come with me instead I would be more then pleased and I wont have to bribe my sister into being my date." He continued, with a flirtatious wink. Bonnie laughed good naturedly, though her cheeks did colour. She held her hands up.
"I'm flattered, but, sorry, I'm going with the family. We're new, so it's our first of these." She explained. "Might see you there though." She turned back to the display of their baked goods.
"We've got plenty of cranberry cupcakes. A travesty really, so few people in this town seem to appreciate the humble cranberry." She dipped into the display counter's trays, and picked out one of their cranberry cupcakes. She also grabbed one of their paper bags and put the cupcake inside as she stood back up.

"Now, as for the gingerbread, we got some options..." She began. However, as she straightened, she noticed someone else had joined them in the bakery. She seemed... Distinctly odd. Another one? Just how many people in this town had this weird... Aura? Feeling? Thing about them? She puttered out for a split second, but quickly recovered. If there was one thing Bonnie's career as a fairy godmother had taught her, it was that fairy godmothers had to be able to adjust to strange situations on the fly. She'd find out what was strange about these people later. She put her smile back on her face.
"Oh, hi! I'll be right with you in a jiffy, once this man has his bribes." She assured the girl. She tore her eyes away to look back at the man.
"So, your gingerbread cookies, if you want plain gingerbread, we got the leaves or the scarecrows." She plucked out one of her recently transformed gingerbread leaves, and a smiling gingerbread scarecrow, and held both up as examples. "One of each maybe?"

Another girl entered, yet again with the strange aura so many people around here seemed to carry. Bonnie looked around at the gathering crush in the bakery with mild alarm. This might get a little chaotic unless...
"Hey, Bon Bon!" Came a familiar voice, as if summoned. God, but if her dad didn't have the best timing in the world. Even if he did enter with her silliest nickname. Jenny came squeezing by the crowd that had gathered in Sweet Spot. She quickly ducked under the counter, and threw her arms around Bonnie's waist.
"Hey, guys! good day at school?" Bonnie asked, looking down at her baby sister.
"Yeah!" Jenny answered.
"Great, but you're gonna have to tell me about it later. Dad, mind ringing this guy up while I handle these girls?" With that, Jenny detached herself and darted through to the back kitchen, out of the way. With a nod, their dad put his pale blue Sweet Spot apron back on and switched places with Bonnie, coming to stand behind the counter himself.
"Now, what was that you wanted, son?" He said.

Leaving him to it, Bonnie turned back to the girls. So many people in this town seemed to have that odd feeling, yet these two seemed to have... Similar odd feelings. But, she put it out of her mind once more. They'd not actually done anything odd, unless you counted walking into a bakery and not asking for anything immediately. Honestly, given the forming line, that was quite considerate of them.
"And what were you ladies looking for?" She asked brightly. However, before she got an answer, another man entered the shop and squeezed in at the counter.
"Business is booming today, isn't it?" He said with a grin. "Bonnie, is it?"
"Bonnie Fortenberry, nice to meet you." She smiled and laughed. "Honestly, I don't think there's been this many people in here at once until today."

"Could you do me a solid and get me a black coffee? No rush though, I can see you're very busy." He said. Bonnie nodded quickly.
"Sure, our coffee is like..." She turned to quickly consult the takeout coffee menu hanging behind her. "Two dollars ninety--" Before she could finish, he put down a twenty with a wink.
"Keep the change." Then he motioned to the tables outside the bakery. Which technically belonged to the sandwich shop next door, but nobody had said anything yet about Sweet Spot's customers using them. Heck, at this point those tables carried both of their menus. It was a beautiful friendship.
"I'll be out there, yeah?" Bonnie nodded a little dumbly. Twenty dollars for a three dollar cup of coffee. That was generous enough for Bonnie to feel a little guilty. A quick, silent conversation passed between Bonnie and her dad, as he rang up the guy, and handed Bonnie a five dollar bill. Well, apparently she wasn't the only one. She brewed the coffee in it's little light blue cardboard takeout cup. Her dad looked up as she stepped back out of the kitchen.
"Once we're done with these ladies, we'll starting closing up." He said. Bonnie nodded her understanding, and started making her way around the counter. Then, as she took the coffee out to the guy, she nabbed a sugar cookie from the display bowl in the window on impulse. Even with the unsolicited change, he'd more than paid for it. She went out and placed both in front of him, and handed him the five.
"Our coffee is three bucks, a twenty is a little much." She said with a slightly awkward laugh, as she reached up and fiddled with one strand of her hair. "So I guess enjoy the complimentary cookie?" She dipped one hand into her apron pocket, where she kept some sugar packets, and handed him some.
"For your coffee, if you need it."

With that, she headed back in, to help her dad with the last two customers before the Sweet Spot closed for the day, and the Fortenberrys headed home to prepare for the festival.

*She watched and cringed as the small bakery began to seriously fill up. Surrounded by people while she was hungry did not make her feel any better and when a male slid beside her, placing his coffee order and paying in advance, she shivered. 'What was that?' She thought to herself subconciously. His aura, actually, almost everyone's aura in the bakery gave her chills. What was with this bakery? Or was it just her extermly hightened senses messing with her again? Taking her right hand and rubbing the back of her neck to hopefully get rid of the cold chill running down her back her hazel green hues followed the male to where he sat down before returning to the clerk who was currently filling the males cup of coffee. Feeling eye's on the back of her head and another strange aura she turned around to face a woman who looked to be a sex goddess. 'Damn....'. Being both sexually attracted to both genders this woman's features made her whole body tremble with urges. Blinking a few times, realizing she had been staring for a good minute, she slid her gaze to what looked to be the owner of the bakery, due to his attire and the way he spoke to, what she thought was, his daughter Bonnie who was now giving the strange male his order just outside the bakery.*

"May I have black coffee, two creams, two sugar, and one of your gingerbread cookies Please?"

*She asked the older gentleman behind the counter, lighty tapping her fingers across the counter top while she waited for her order to be filled. Retrieving her order and paying she smiled gently, nodding a thanks to the male clerk. Turning around, coffee and cookie in hand she made her way out of the bakery and towards the center of the mall. Walking over to an open bench she sat down, crossing one leg over the other, and began to sip her hot coffee, observing her surroundings*

Classes had ended for the day and he couldn't be happier. His mind could be at ease from his students but he sat down at his desk with a sigh, his eyes glanced over the papers upon his desk. He sat there and graded them for a little bit then jumped to his lesson plans and got them ready for the next day. He then ran his hand over his face and got up from his seated position, grabbed his briefcase and walked out of his classroom but made sure it was locked up first. He then proceeded to walk out of the school and to his vehicle, where he ran into one of the teachers.

"Oh, hey there, handsome." A female voice said. "Hey there, Sophia." Kenneth's said as she giggled and winked before she trotted away. Kenneth shook his head as he got inside of his vehicle, started up the engine and drove off of the school premises. He debated about going home but then decided to stop by the Sweet Spot Bakery. He pulled up into the parking lot and got there just in time before they closed. Kenny ordered his after school usual, which was two gingerbread cookies and a cup of coffee with two sugars and three creams.

Kenneth took his order happily then waltzed outside, where he saw a guy that was sitting there and raised a brow up at him. "Aren't you, Ezekiel?" Kenneth asked the male before he sat down right before him and eyed him with a smile. "Sorry to bother you but I saw an ad with your picture and I do a little part time modeling, myself." Kenneth said as he continued to look at him as he took a bite out of his cookie and took a sip from his coffee.

Looking down at the cookie, Kell couldn't help but smile. He hadn't meant to make the girl awkward with his tip, but alas, it was a bit too late for him to apologize. Stirring the sugar into his coffee, he briefly eyed the customers that came and went. He almost felt left out, watching a few school girls as they entered the mall with boisterous laughter.

"Aren't you, Ezekiel?" Kell's eyes met with a man standing before him, dressed in what he could guess was business casual. He looked older than Kell and the younger man smiled as the stranger seated himself, "Sorry to bother you but I saw an ad with your picture and I do a little part time modeling, myself."

"No, please, bother me." Ezekiel laughed, leaning back into his chair as he intertwined his fingers, "Well I'm glad someone recognizes me without all that photoshop." He grinned, giving the man a quick once over before taking a drink of his own beverage.

He knew nothing about this man, other than the sudden desire to invite him over for the night. He pushed the thought away, smirking at himself behind his cup, "So if modeling is only a part time gig, what is it you do?" He asked, tilting his head with a curious smile. "No, wait, let me guess. You're either a doctor and, if so, I've been needing a checkup so hook me up, maybe?" He laughed, sitting forward as he rattled at his brain for another assumption, "Or you're a school teacher. The young history teacher every girl and her mom is eye-fucking." Pressing his cheek to his hand, Kell couldn't help but grin at the other man, almost excited to see if he was right or not.

Kenneth would've been completely embarrassed if the person in front of him wasn't Ezekiel but luckily for him, it was. He let out a soft chuckle towards Ezekiel when he grinned and said that he's glad someone notices him without the photoshop. Kenny took another bite out of his gingerbread cookie and another sip of his coffee as he pursed his lips together before his eyes looked up at him.

"Well, I wish I was a doctor but honestly, I am a Literature teacher." Kenneth responded, laughing at his words as he leaned back at little, unbuttoning the top button of his collared shirt. "But as long as they are eye-fucking and nothing else then I perfectly fine with that. I fuck men only." Kenny responded bluntly and ended those words with a wink. "But I may not be a doctor but I can still give you a checkup." He said as he stood up with a soft sigh then looked down at Ezekiel.

"I hate to leave in a moment like this but I have to go and get ready for the festival tonight." Kenneth said with a grunt as he didn't really want to go. But almost all of the teachers were scheduled to work it. "But I hope to see you there? If not then I am sure I'll see you around." Kenneth said as he turned heel and didn't bother to wait for an answer as he looked back with a glance then continued on his trek towards the parking lot.

Kenneth sat in his vehicle for a moment with a soft smirk before he left the mall and went to his home, where their alpha was waiting. "Kenneth." His alpha's voice roared as soon as he got out of the car. A beta wolf came up to him and sniffed him then looked towards the alpha. "He's been with vampires." His eyes cut towards the beta then looked towards the alpha. "For the last time, I am a teacher and there are a lot of creatures that are at our school." Kenneth remarked as he walked past them and into his house.

"I have to get ready for the festival so see ya." Kenny said as he closed the door and locked it then went further inside and started to get ready for the festival.

"Mr. Leith, can I speak to you for one minute?" a female's voice called out, as Ariel had just left the theater. "Y-Yes M-Miss Autman?" The male asked as he would turn around. He fiddled with his necklace, a conch shell, something his siblings got him as a gag gift for his sixteenth birthday. His dark blue eyes looked at the woman with a kind of fear that normally lived in his eyes. The young Nixie awaited the woman to respond. "I'd like you to come to the festival later, there may be a problem with some of the singers, and I wish for you to sing there. You're one of my best students, Ariel, you have talent," the woman spoke. Ariel nodded, and silently walked out of the room.

He had lately decided he as going to head towards Sweet Spot and get something small to eat. His parents were against about his sugar eating, especially due to his elder brother Gabriel. The older Nixie had an addiction to sugar, and sadly it had passed onto Ariel. The people at Sweet Spot, knew his order because he was often there.

The walk to the Bakery, as well as the Mall wasn't very far away. Walking was like swimming. Only using your feet instead of a tail. As he walked, he thought of why Miss Autman had wanted him to sing. He knew he was one of her favorite students, EVERYONE in the school knew that. Only because he had channeled his true emotions into his music. Not only vocally, but instrumentally. So he could see why she would choose him. But he was still surprised. Ariel eventually reached the Sweet Spot, and had noticed it had closed earlier than normal for the Festival. The young Nixie slightly sighed but walked towards his home. Downtown, wasn't really far away.

As he did, he aimlessly vocalized. His voice drawing the attention of people, as he blushed. He quickly reached his home, and went inside to get ready for the festival.

If it's this easy to manipulate humans...what was the point of all that training? Despite the pleased expression on his face at the woman's rather enthusiastic assistance, Lucian couldn't help but inwardly grumble. After all if all it took to get humans so eager to do things for you then what was the point of all the training his clan put him through? The trek deeper into the store was more disorganized than he'd expected but the girl got him to his destination easily enough. Since there was a selection, Lucian began to browse as the girl introduced herself as Jack and commented on his newness to the store.

" To be honest, I don't go to many of the more truly local places - rumors of the family and all that make locals less than welcoming at places like this. Please, call me Lu - no it's not short for Luke...my parents gave me a far more dramatic name." A wry smile formed on Lucian's face as he gave a polite response while picking a pair of books and an interruption from Lily caught his attention.

"I think that's it for books this time, you working the whole evening or are you free during the festival?" While making his inquiry, Lucian pulled out a credit card and a second one - a plain card labeled ' L. Callidora' with the number for his adult phone number.

" Since I'd like SOME excuse to escape my sister - if you'll forgive the hurry." Finishing the purchase was easy enough from there - though in all honestly Lucian didn't pay much attention since his other half had far more stimulus going on. He still managed to squeeze a text to Kell out while leaving the store.

Well, if you were free I was thinking about poaching a couple fans before things got started... After all, who says beautiful men don't deserve an audience?

Unfortunately, traffic delayed Lucian on his way to the mall more than he'd like. As a result he arrived after the Sweet Spot closed, but still in time for the apparent after party. Lucian made a point of parking right next to the all-too-familiar birthday car of Kell's before stepping from the car just a bit after five. After a quick a look around, Lucian spotted Kell and gave a wave - more of a beckon as he went to hunt down his other half.

As the place grew more lively, something about the air of the place changed...it took a bit for Lilith to fully clue in on her nose and look towards the woman in the dress. Ever true to her nature as a Succubus, she threw the woman a discreet wink in response to the gaze. When it finally got to be her turn to order, Lily held out a credit card and noncommittally gave a general order, " it's my first time here so feel free to surprise me." Following the completion of her order, Lily paused between following the 'familiar' face of Kell and the woman...ultimately she chose to follow the latter. Something about the woman was...inhuman yet familiar in an oddly different way that she couldn't fully put into words. The woman's decision to sit around on a bench made catching up rather easy - despite making an approach a bit direct. Nevertheless, the Succubus still made her approach - baked goods and all.

" You know, of every gaze I've gotten while entering a room, I must say yours was definitely the most polite. The name's Lily - spelled with two i's." Taking a tip from an older cousin, Lilis threw in what could only be described as an overly enthusiastic smile with the introduction.

" You wouldn't mind if I kept you company until my hopeless brother shows up with the car, would you?" Succumbing a little bit to instinct, Lilis couldn't help letting out a little bit of odeur de désir while she asked. Consciously, she knew that to another of her kind that this be nothing more than overly strong perfume - unpleasant being the first thought to mind. Against humans however, the results were always an overwhelming positive...and while the clan always said to be careful about other nonhumans - there had never been an explanation why.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Lilly with two I's. I'm Raven. Sure, I don't mind having a sight as beautiful as you next to me."

*Her voice was soft when she spoke, observing Lilis's features and attire while she made her way around and sat next to her on the bench. Her head started pounding from the sudden harsh, almost grandma smelling perfume when she passed. Blinking a few times while she rubbed the back of her neck to ease some of the pressure she glanced over to Lilis, a small smile playing on her lips.*

"Succubus huh? Well no wonder your an eye catch."

*She spoke low, making sure no wondering ears could here when she called Lilis out on what she was. It didn't help that she bombed her with her special blend just second ago. She chuckled under her breath, taking a small drink of her coffee in her hand. Sliding her gaze over to Lilis she took a strand of Lilis hair, twirling it in her fingertips before letting it release from her grasp.*

"To be honest, I'm a little jealous. You are gorgeous Lili. Truly breath taking"

The guy introduced himself and picked out his books. Jack didn't really know what he meant when he mentioned "the family," but she assumed it had something to do with the crest on his jacket. She knew there were a few important families in the town, but she didn't know anything about them. She figured she would learn eventually, but she wasn't rushing it.

As she was ringing him up, Lu asked about her plans for the day.

"We're closing early, so yeah, I am free."

Then... he gave her his phone number. Oh.

Oh dear lord, is he flirting with me? Oh no. Oh no. This has never happened what do I do. Oh no.

Jack was stunned as he left, staring at the card in her hand. She had no idea how to deal with this. She ended up spending the rest of the work day trying to formulate a nice way to say, "Sorry dude, I'm gay. No hard feelings?"

Her shift for the rest of the day was mostly uneventful. Unfortunately, that gave her more time to worry about what had happened and what she was going to do. Eventually, closing time came and Carol told her she was free for the day. She left the same way she came in: through the window, in the shape of a bird. An ovenbird this time, though.

She had a hard time enjoying the scenery as she flew home. Not just because of Lu; she was nervous about the festival in general. This would be her first big event in Elk River. She would be surrounded by strangers in an unfamiliar place.

She stepped down on her porch, trying to push the negative thoughts away. No, it's going to be fun. You'll have a good time.

Troi greeted her the second she set foot in the house, rubbing against her legs affectionately. Jack flopped onto the couch and the cat hopped up onto her stomach, making herself comfortable. She smiled as the birds joined them in their impromptu cuddle pile, Churchill taking his favorite spot on her head, and Gideon and Sunny settling against Troi's curled up form.

"Jeez, miss me much?"

Jack took Lu's card out of her pocket and looked at it again. She decided to put it into her contacts. Even if she had to let him down, he was still a potential friend. She typed out a quick text.

hey it's jack. just sending this so u know my number :P

She hit send and relaxed, enjoying the company of her animals.

Nicole jolted up as she had overslept slightly. She was hoping to leave the house by six o'clock on the dot but she woke up at a bit later than that. She scrambled around and tried to get herself together before she waltzed out of her front door, got inside of her vehicle and drove downtown towards the site of the festival. From a distance, she could see the fireworks are already active as it signaled the beginning of the festival. Something they always did every year. She parked her vehicle nearby then closed and locked the door after she got out.

With a smile upon her face, she walked through the streets and her eyes gleamed at all of the rides they had there. Of course, it was exactly the same rides as last year. Nicole went immediately over towards the food court setup there and asked for a slushie, which she paid for and told the vendor to keep the change. Nicole slurped on her slushie as her eyes wandered around the area. She wondered to herself if Malcolm was present at the festival, if not, she had hoped that she could get him there.

To: Mal
You better be coming to this festival.

That was all she had sent in the text towards Malcolm then slipped her phone back into her pocket after she threw away the slushie and started riding on some rides, since she had a festival bracelet on anyway.

Kenneth was at the festival a bit earlier than what he was suppose to be there. He had to help some of the teachers set up there own individual booths as one of them asked if he was helping out at the kissing booth. Kenneth shook his head and chuckled but didn't even bother to answer that question. A lot of the female teachers, well female in general wanted him but he'd always laugh at them.

As soon as all the booths were up, he went over towards the food court station and put on an apron. He was assigned to help out the hamburger station as the cashier even though he had little experience. Kenneth saw his alpha, his father in the distance and hoped that they would not make a scene tonight. But that wasn't any of his business.

Kenny leaned onto the register as the festivities was getting kicked off. The mayor made a speech, the band was playing and fireworks were lighting up the night sky. The talent portion of the festival was just about to kick off as his eyes went over to the stage, some people were already sitting on the bleachers and was waiting for the show to start.

His first customer came up and order, he took their money then gave them back their change. Of course, they asked him why wasn't he running the kissing booth, as well. Kenneth rolled his eyes then directed the person down the line to get their order as the next customer came up.

It's...not working? Lily found herself perplexed by Raven during her exaggerated trip towards the bench. The Succubus felt her pulse quickly rise, she'd never met a human that her smell hadn't worked on - sure they get warned some humans don't actually respond to their powers well. However hearing and seeing are two different things, 40% power available aside, getting a human eager to get down in public shouldn't be harder than a set of pouted lips and fluttered eyelashes by all accounts. This would make sense if she was dealing with another Succubus, but there wasn't anything to give that away - even without using powers another of her kind would still have a "stink" to them she should pick up. Then Raven muttered an all too chilling accusation that Lilis herself was a Succubus - truth aside the shock was enough where the girl stopped producing her pheromone cocktail entirely. Ever a true performer, the young succubus still wasn't so inexperienced as to let her face show her internal conflict.

"I know I probably shouldn't have worn family colors, but don't you think accusing a girl of being a seductress because of town gossip a little rude?"Despite her love of having her hair played with, Lilis still attempted rather unsuccessfully to put on a matching frown...only to get a pout. The added proximity to her other half was throwing her game off since the shared noise across their senses was increasing. Instead she relied on attempting a verbal barb as her careless other half came into view while looking in the wrong direction. However even as a Succubus, Lilis was still not immune to compliments to her appearance despite trying to play dumb.

"Thanks for the compliment, but if I were some kind of magic seductress - wouldn't my appearance be rather plain? I mean - I'm told my idiot brother over there has better eyes than me. A succubus should be beautiful beyond compare, no?" While Lilis was aware that she was still throwing herself under the bus by offering essentially herself over to this woman she could only describe as dangerous. She found herself hoping that the...benefits of a male perspective would fare better. Lucian played with fire frequently with his equally odd friend Kell - hopefully she could figure something out with a bit of peace.

Time: 5:30 – 7:30
Location: Mall - Fear Festival
Watching as the man left, Ezekiel could help but let his eyes follow until he was out of sight. Sucking in a breath, he let out a little curse as he exhaled, gathering himself and getting to his feet. Kell was a flirt naturally, but he couldn’t help and feel a little interested in the other man. Chuckling to himself, he made his way into the mall. He needed a new outfit for the festival. At least that’s what he told himself, it was more of an excuse to buy new clothing. Taking a drink of his coffee, he picked at the cookie as he browsed around the mall. A Spirit Store was open, many teenagers running into the store. Halloween was a fond holiday of his. He remembered the nights when he would go out trick-or-treating with his mum. Dressed up as his favorite villain or monster. Ironically, he always wanted to be a vampire. Walking into the store, he let his eyes wander. Nostalgia hit him like a wave and he sighed softly. So many college parties with women dressed in skimpy little costumes.

Stepping on the button of one of the outside displays, Kell watched as a dead woman lurched forward towards him, screaming and scaring a few children near him. He smirked, turning away and browsing the costumes. Scoffing at the vampire costume, Ezekiel ran his tongue over his incisors, grimacing slightly at the sting as they cut at the skin. Shaking his head, he left the store and went in search for a decent clothing store. The mall didn’t have much, being from such a small town but Kell was determined to find something for the occasion. It didn’t need to be high-end fashion, after all.

Paying for the clothes, he left the mall and drove to his apartment. He didn’t plan on staying too long, hopping into the shower to freshen up. It took a moment for the water to heat up, but he paid it no mind, letting shampoo lather in his fair hair. Humming to a tune, he took his time bathing himself before turning off the water and stepping out. Grabbing his phone, he quickly read his messages. Just a text from his last fling, asking if he planned on being at the festival. He left her on read, putting down the device and getting ready. It took a while for his hair to listen to him, but once he was ready, he grinned brightly and grabbed his belongings before locking the apartment door behind him.

~

The festival was already getting into gear as he arrived, the line for a ticket too long. He sighed, waiting impatiently as it slowly inched forward. A good ten minutes in the line and it was finally his turn to pay for his tickets. Instead, he simply bought the wristband. Taking it and leaving before the man could give him his change. Slipping the brightly colored band around his wrist, Kell decided to send his friend a quick text.

You here? Place is getting pretty crowded. Lemme know when you're here.

Sighing softly, he wandered around the fairgrounds for a bit, watching as a couple played one of those rigged games. Surprisingly, the man won something, giving the bright pink plushy to the girl. Clicking his tongue against teeth, he turned away. He felt like he was prying, running a hand through his hair and mussing it up.

"I didn't mean to come off rude. I apologize profusely."

*Watching the young Succubus suddenly pout and back track a little she smiled warmly. 'She must be a young one..' She thought to herself. As Lilis eyes shifted toward a male across the room she tilted her head slightly, chuckling a little. 'Or she could just not be her full self.' Raven couldn't help but chuckle some more. Returning her auburn gaze back toward Lilis she brushed her long hair away from her neck. Leaning in close she whispered in Lilis ear, barely touching her ear with her cold lips.*

"On the contrary however, you are beautiful beyond compare Lilis."

*She honestly couldn't help herself from inhaling slowly and dragging the tip of her tongue across the length of Lilis neck. She smelled so good and the hunger growing in her chest just became almost to unbearable. This lovely creature was way to tempting. Even though she was not human, feeding off of her would still be satisfying. Regaining composure she leaned back, looking into Lilis eyes with her now cloudy pink ones. Blinking a few times until the color in her eyes returned to auburn she smiled softly. A deep red blush warming her cheeks as she sat back, nervously sipping her coffee*

"I'm sorry I came off a little strong then..."

*Glancing over at Lilis from the corner of her eyes she chewed on her bottom lip nervously. Deciding to leave before she couldn't help herself she stood from the bench, taking Lilis hand into her own and placing a small cold kiss on the back of her hand*

"I hope to see you again Lilis...."

*She smiled warmly, looking deep into Lilis eyes as the Auburn color slowly began to cloud and brighten to an almost neon pink. Diverting her gaze quickly she walked toward the doors of the mall, taking a small glance back at Lilis before exiting. Practically jogging to her BMW she unlocked the doors with her key fob and sat in the drivers seat. Rubbing the back of her neck she inhaled slowly, shaking her head. 'What is wrong with you?'*

"We're home!" Bonnie called in from the door. Her dad and Jenny filed in behind her.
"Thank goodness!" Came her mother's cry from further in the house. "If I have to keep looking at these spreadsheets for another minute, I will do something drastic." From the 'study', really just the desk at the back of the living room, came Bonnie's mom. She stretched her arms over her head. With a fond smile, Bonnie's dad stepped around his daughters and planted a quick kiss on their mother's cheek.
"Don't build them up too much, I'm doing them tomorrow." He smiled. Bonnie smiled silently, and headed upstairs to get ready for the festival.

A while later, Bonnie was freshly showered and dressed in a simple peach blouse, red cardigan and jeans. After all, it was an autumnal festival, couldn't hurt to keep the theme. She smiled down as she opened the musical jewellery box she'd had since childhood, and filled her bedroom with music. She was just putting on a cameo locket that had once been her grandmother's, and bore her namesake Dahlia, when a noise made her look up from the small mirror in the box's lid. With a smile, she quickly slipped on a simple red plastic bangle and stepped out into the hallway. Her sister's door was ajar, so Bonnie opened it further and leaned against the door jam. Jenny stood in the middle of what looked like the aftermath of a small tornado. Which was an unexpectedly apt description for her in a frenzy, now that Bonnie thought about it.
"Y'know, I don't think they'll be giving prizes for best dressed." Bonnie said. Jenny pouted over at her.
"I can't find my jacket." She frowned as she turned back to her closet. Bonnie leaned back and glanced down the stairs. She giggled quietly to herself. A moment later she returned to her sister's room.
"This jacket?" She said, holding up the bright blue coat, much to her baby sister's indignation.

After a few hours of both waiting, preparing, and some last minute calculations for Sweet Spot, the Fortenberrys arrived at the festival. They arrived fairly early, enough so that the line to get in hadn't built up fully yet. their parents bought tickets, but the family saw fit, given the girls' buzzing energy, to get Bonnie and Jenny bracelets. Bonnie grinned widely as she craned her neck this way and that to see all the festival had on offer. She threw an arm over Jenny's shoulder and pointed out her little sister's favourite carnival game, a stand for hook-a-duck. With naught but a nod, the pair rushed over excitedly, much to the amusement of their parents. Bonnie smiled and nodded to the middle aged man running the game, and showed him her bracelet, as Jenny held up her own as well. Bonnie grinned down at her little sister.
"Calling it, I'm gonna win that." Bonnie announced, pointing at an inflatable alien. Jenny looked up, then pointed with a devious grin.
"I'm gonna win that and chase you with it." Bonnie followed her finger to see a plush frog staring at her. Thankfully not a realistic looking one, but just the thought made her wince and shudder. Even so, she laughed good-naturedly at her sister's teasing.
"Oh, if I get one of those hammers, you are so gonna get it." She said.

After the rather unpleasant time of being puppet to an in-explicitly disturbing yet interesting Raven... the two "siblings" opted for the extra safety of merging back together. Both Lucias and Lilis could only conclude based on her cold touch that the woman was either undead or some other freak they had yet to encounter and the diminished power that came with separation wasn't worth the risk. As an extra layer of caution - Lucian got to be the prominent face since he'd already made plans - though an extra layer was added to have all the phones in coat pockets (a coat with the family emblem on the back). However the whole affair resulted in his being later than expected so the Incubus found rather belatedly he had two texts as he arrived in the parking lot. A read reply from Jack and a message from his friend Kell... which despite giving the pair an idea was put in the back burner for a period.

Alright Jack - see you it the festival.

To Kell, the message of a different tone.

If you don't count cars, the parking lot is rather empty

Given the current outfit was fine with either sex, Lucian debated switching to Lilis' face. However a coin toss threw the caution of earlier to the win - after all what are the odds? That and if the two stayed close together, things should be safe right? The pair separated again to the matching outfits look before getting out of the car. The effort left the two winded, but the "twins" left the car with linked arms... a weird sensation for both parties. Still the two made their way towards the main entrance while trying to stay as openly visible as possible.

Jack almost decided to blow off the festival. It's not that she didn't want to go; she was just trapped on her couch. Troi was lounging on her chest, almost asleep, and Jack just couldn't bear to leave her. The birds had left to do their own things, but Troi had stayed where she was. Jack had checked the time and saw that the festival had already started, but she was just too comfortable to move. She had nearly said "screw it," and let herself fall asleep, but a reply from Lu got her motivated to get up.

She wanted to make some friends in Elk River, and she wasn't going to be able to do that while staying at home all day.

Still not wanting to leave her cat, Jack got an idea. She got off the couch and dug through her drawers until she found what she was looking for: a gray hoodie with a big pouch in front. She changed into a new outfit and pulled on the hoodie.

She made her way back over to the couch, where Troi was curled up and purring. She picked the cat up and placed her in the pouch. Petting Troi's head, Jack thought to herself, "Perfect plan."

When she stepped out of her house, she realized that with the cat coming with her, she couldn't transform to make the trip shorter. Shrugging, she pulled the hood over her head, showing off the cute cat ears sewn onto it. Eh, whatever. It would be a nice leisurely walk, then.

Image

It took a little longer to get to the festival than Jack had expected. It wasn't a bad thing, though. She had been distracted by people on the street marveling at the cat in her pocket. Some commented on how cute she was, some asked to pet her. It was nice, and Jack could tell that Troi was enjoying the attention.

About halfway through the trip over, Jack had realized that she hadn't had anything to eat that day, so when she reached the festival, she made a beeline to the concessions. She bought two hot dogs, one as loaded with condiments as possible, and the other completely plain, without a bun. She cut the plain hot dog into small pieces and started giving the pieces to Troi, who had gotten bored of the pouch and had climbed up to perch on Jack's shoulder.

Just as before, Troi received a lot of love from passersby while Jack scanned the crowd for anyone she might know.
