Madison Decker

"Forget about the crap that happened, don't think about the crap ahead. What we're in right now? Yeah, that's enough to keep us busy."

Description

Image

Full Name: Madison Dakota Decker
Age: 21
Appearance: She usually wears fitting outfits that are simple in design to maximize flight efficiency. She almost always wears a pair of goggles on her head or around her neck to protect her eyes in flight. She tries to keep her hair tied back, but generally her light-colored hair ends up falling out of buns or ponytails and blows around her face. Her eyes are a dark brown with a reddish tinge.

Personality: She scraped together a life when all hell broke loose, even managing to save a few other kids along the way, with powers or not. She's tough and able, but her weakness has always been caring too much for those under her watchful eye. She doesn't back down from a challenge, which make her a little reckless. However, her determination and sheer force of will keep her from giving up, even in the face of death.

Power: While Madison is known generally to have the power of flight, she keeps the true extent of her powers locked away. Taking extreme caution and never using more than flight, no one knows that she truly developed the power of gravity manipulation. Madison's fear of being deemed dangerous or too powerful have prevented even her from knowing much about her abilities. She can alter the gravitational forces around her body in order to fly. However, she has to be very careful not to remain weightless for too long or her body begins to decay. During a long stint flying, she lost muscle mass, had some skeletal degeneration, and ended up getting very sick almost immediately afterwards. Also, while most others' nightmares disappeared, hers only seemed to get worse and worse, leaving her with insomnia most of the time. However, this has made her fairly capable at functioning without much sleep.

History: Madison wasn't the only one in her family to get sick. Her brother, younger by two years, also came down with the illness almost immediately after her. While they were in the hospital, their parents' lives began to violently shut down. When her brother died, her parents were divorced and her mother moved far away. By the time Madison was miraculously healed with everyone, her father had fallen deep into a depression, barely holding himself together. Madison managed to keep the two of them afloat, but when tell her mother's death reached them, she couldn't stop her father from committing suicide.

Left alone in the world spiraling into chaos, Madison took charge and went out to prevent as much tragedy as she could on her own. She quickly came to terms with losing people, but she still keeps hold on those she hopes can make it through. One such person being Gabriel, who has also helped her with finding employment.

So begins...

It had been one week since Brandon's escape and the city had changed, drastically. Underground, an unseen war was happening between superpowers. "This, gentlemen." Opposing Force said as he held up a jar. "Is the key to our future." A dark smirk spread across his face as the criminals, thugs and so on and so forth he had gathered were all now about to witness a new age for Union City. "Your prize is the chance to become an all powerful individual, and together, an army. Now go, seek and destroy!" The criminals all moved out, as Opposing Force sat in his new throne. "I love being the bad guys sometimes." Picking up a large paper into his hand, he looks it over with a satisfied expression. "Not many bigheads are left to stand in my way, I hope SOLO and his men are watching every second of this. As this war goes on, my plan will move closer to success."

Gabriel, on the other hand, felt sick by this point. He hadn't been able to return to work ever since these incidents started, an his condition was only getting wore with each use of his powers. He was finding no luck soon, the city was getting worse on top of that, neither this Daniel or Brandon bothered to help him it seemed. Concerning the warning, whoever had been after him never came, and he could guess why. Opposing Force, among other criminals, all sought their attention on SOLO lately. But he felt distant to it all, as if this war didn't concern him, he never trusted anyone but his circle of friends. Which reminded him, he had a friend he could turn to just for this occasion. Electro and his group were too busy trying to stop the uprising of criminals, he hoped 'she' wasn't busy either.

However, Gabriel didn't trust phones lately, they gave him a bad vibe. He had no choice in the matter, picking up his phone and beginning to press letters on it after picking out a certain name. He tried to type fast and quickly, but he kept making typo's and errors that he constantly had to correct. Even just a minute had been enough to make Gabriel sweat and start to feel dizzy, but he had to keep trying and eventually found the text ending. After pressing the send button, it said Hey, it's me, Gabriel. Haven't seen you in a while now, was hoping to catch up with you. Wish I could talk on the phone, but I don't feel good lately. I'm currently at this location. [Insert location here] I'd love to chat with you and catch up on old times. Hope to see you soon! Gabriel put the phone down and sat down on his bed. Now all he had to do was wait, if he got a text reply, he'd have to check it.

"Get here soon." He mumbled to himself, laying down on his back to relax. "I really shouldn't strain myself like this."

A young woman sat atop the rooftop, a soft laughing coming from her hip. Now, she wasn't one to answer her phone unless a very specific set of ringtones was triggered. That laughing was one of them. She pulled out her phone and scanned the message, her eyes narrowing as she shoved it back into her pocket and stood.

"Sorry, boys. Places to be," she mumbled over her shoulder. She'd leave the two men tied to each other for someone else to handle. The city was probably doomed anyway, and she'd rather burn in hell than not come to someone when they called. Not even a minute after she'd gotten the text, she was flying to the hotel on the opposite side of the city.

A little over twenty minutes would pass for Gabriel before a muffled argument could be heard outside his door. The door handle to the hotel room jiggled rapidly, then it fell silent. A sudden impact on the other side of the door forced it open with a cracking of wood and a bang as the door hit the other wall.

"Gabe!" a voice cried out, a woman sprinting to his bedside. She ripped the goggles of her head and threw them aside, placing her wrist on his forehead. "Oh, for Chrissakes, what're they doin'? Just shoved you behind closed doors to rot or somethin'? I shoulda kicked that guy in the nuts when I had the chance..." she mumbled angrily, as if to herself. She focused her eyes on him with a worried frown and finally addressed him properly.

"What do you need, Gabe?" Not a frustrated question of someone in a hurry, not an exasperated plea for answers, but the same promise she'd made again and again. She'd do anything he needed.

An unexpected surprise came to Gabriel's room in the form of Madison Decker. Gabriel remembered her from after his family had abandoned him because of his freakish powers. She was, to him, the only 'family' he had left in this world. "You did it again." He noted, referring to the door and whoever she knocked out. "Always a dramatic entrance." He laughed lightly, quickly ending it as he shuddered for a few seconds. "Ugh. It's my condition, they call it. Every time I use my powers now, the pain gets worse. And now I feel so distant from everything, even technology hurts to use now. That's why I sent you a text, not a call." He sighs out, looking down more than usual. The pain and the distant feeling that kept growing inside of him was making him depressed, he hated being alone during this. That may change soon.

Meanwhile, a man wearing a white suit and a blue tie follows another man into an alleyway. The man turns to the other, pulling out a gun and aiming it at him, giving a smirk. However, a flash of light erupts and he is blinded temporarily before being knocked down. The man in the suit adjusts his tie. "Tie him up." Several of SOLO's men rushed in and took the man. "Interrogate him, make sure you get what he knows." The man in the white suit turns around and stands in front of the alleyway while thinking to himself. "So, Mr. Brandon." He spoke aloud to himself. "I wonder where you are hiding. I will search the entire city if I must to track you down, but I will bring you to justice." He listened quietly as the interrogation began, he needed as many clues as he could get, and the starting one was always the most valuable.

The man in the white suit heard Brandon's voice and watched him kill the man quickly. He waited an hour, and already got the big boss to snatch onto some bait? This was too easy, in a not surprising twist, the crazed fool sent his tendrils after his men. He narrows his eyes as a field of light surrounds him and his team, the light cutting off pieces of the tendrils and erasing them within the bright light, possibly bringing harm to the crazed fool attacking them. "This was too predictable of you, now I know for certain you are manipulating others in the city. Surrender to me now, or watch me destroy your work in a matter of hours." He was serious, too, he had watched videos of Brandon before and had learned how to deal with his powers over a week.

Gabriel, on the other hand, was being offered help from Madison. He sighs as he closes his eyes, tilting his head down. "They don't know what to start on, honestly. They've never been able to do anything about superpowers killing the person who uses them." He opens his eyes and tilts his head back up to face her. "I'm sorry to be trouble right now, I just had no one else to turn to in my current state. Lately I've been running into one bizarre event after another, and it's been driving me a little batty."

Madison flicked Gabriel's nose with a scoff. "Gabe, if you're trouble, then the city's like runnin' a gauntlet." She moved away from him for a moment to drag a chair to his bedside so she could sit down, the back of the chair to her chest. "Besides, I'm always willin' ta do what I can."

She reached out to ruffle his hair with a half smile, resting her chin at the top of the chair. "Now, what's been going on? Can't have you lapsin' into insanity on me 'til we figure something out with this other 'condition.'" She tried to keep her expression and demeanor casual, but she was tearing herself apart on the inside. Knocking a few guards out and busting into a hotel room was within her abilities, but curing some odd life-sucking power disease was definitely not.

The man in the white suit saw an opportunity and decided to take it. His men and him all make their way up to Brandon's position and surround him, quickly, the man in the white suit casts out light around all of them, making sure Brandon was caught within it so his powers were cut off. "Take him down!" He shouts out, one of the others moving in to force Brandon's arms behind his back and cuff him. As the light from the man fades away, new ones are cast down on Brandon. "I hereby place you under arrest, Mr. Shadowman. You have the right to remain silent, but you will get no attorney. Whatever plans you had cooked up all this time, they end today. Take this filth back to the boss and make sure he never gets light off of him again. I've got some clean-up work to do."

Gabriel, on the other hand, smiles lightly at her. He laughs a little as he shakes his head, somehow, she was just incredible. Despite everything that had happened to him, he found hope in this one person. "Right, thanks." He smiles and thinks back to when it all started. "I'll try to catch you up on everything I know." So he told her his life in the past week, starting off at the wreckage of a 'train' and how it made him lose time to get to work. He told her about the announcement, how tension got started because of it. He recalled about going to see Brandon, how the man had betrayed his trust by breaking out and killing several officer's in the process. Then the immortal driver, how he met with SOLO himself, then going to see Daniel Ross. Then the incident, followed by meeting another Daniel Ross, the boy who could control time, for he had learned from the other Daniel's memories. "After that, I've been getting worse, trying to lay low and wait. But I can't wait anymore."

Madison listened quietly and attentively to Gabriel as he spoke, her expression wavering between concern and irritability. She'd half hoped he'd been exaggerating when he'd mentioned the weird incidents originally, but she'd never really known him to lead her wrong. "Okay, yeah. That's a lot of crap to deal with in quick succession..." She ruffled the back of her hair with a frown.

She leaned down to pick her goggles up off the floor and pull them down around her neck. She haphazardly began to tie up her hair as well, but as usual, it fell out almost immediately. "Alright, um...what's the plan, Gabe? I'm with you. Just tell me what door to kick in," she stated with a smirk.

As Brandon made a move, the others and the white suit man moved in. The man in the white suit flashed out light from his palm to temporarily blind Brandon and hurt his eyes, the others moving in to pin him to the ground and cuff him up nice and quickly. Looking at Brandon's pitiful form, the man in the white suit frowns and pulls out a phone. "Hello, boss? Yeah, we got him, the fool came right to us. I think it's best if we eliminate this one or remove his powers permanently. I'll see you in a few hours to give you the status report." Putting away the phone, he turns back to look at Brandon and glares at him. "For all the sins you have done, there will be no escape for you. No more shadows, no more darkness, this time, we're done playing around."

Gabriel closes his eyes as he thinks over thoughts in his head, he didn't like the plan forming in his head, but he felt he owed it to these people. Opening his eyes, he turns to look out a window into the city, the city that had taken them in. Union City, a place that was suppose to bring superpowers and normal people together was falling apart before them. He looks Madison straight in the eyes with a serious expression. "We're going to leave, but we have a few things to do first. We need to go visit SOLO and get some information. After that, we're going to stop these criminal activities before we leave, I owe the people here that much. If you're willing to come with me, I think it's best we find a new place to live. And soon."

Meanwhile, something sinister was going on underground. In the distance, Opposing Force could hear gunshots as his men were opening fire on an opposing group that had declined his offer. "It will be soon." He tells himself, the tall woman appearing next to him and handing him a device. "For me?" He asks, taking it and putting it up to his ear. "What is -- Oh." His expression turned to one of concern, he started to feel nervous. "Hey, how did you -- Oh, I see. Right, I forgot about your powers. When will you be arriving? Tomorrow? You sure? . . .Alright, I'll have SOLO's defenses down by then. Right, see ya then." He hands the device back, sighing out. "We have a problem, a big one."

There was a short pause as Madison studied Gabriel's face carefully, pursing her lips. She'd been half expecting that sort of answer and she knew he couldn't be talked out of it so she simple sighed and shook her head in defeat. "You don't really understand the term 'make a clean break' do you, kid?"

She gave a half smile and another hair ruffle as she stood, pushing the chair back to its original position. "Alright, we can play hero for a while, but if I see that you're losin' yourself too quickly, I'm gettin' us both out of Dodge. The city has other defenders, but it sounds like you've only got me, Gabe. And you owe it to me ta live, got it?" She looked him over suspiciously for a moment. "Are you good to travel or am I piggybackin' you around for a while?"

Gabriel looked at Madison and smiled at her. He knew he could always count on her to help him out, and now he would have her protection. He didn't like putting Madison in the way of danger, but for some reason, he knew she was tough enough to handle whatever came their way. Hearing her question, he rises up to his feet slowly. "I can still walk, although soon I might be forced into a bed again. Never again, no, I will never be left in a bed to rot away ever again." He had pulled up memories of those things, how he hated what he saw. It was torture, it was inhumane, he could never wish that upon anyone. "Let's get started, shall we?"

Madison watched Gabriel stand uncertainly, but smirked at his words. She lightly punched him in the shoulder, no force behind it, just a affectionate gesture. "That's the right spirit, Gabe. Alright, take point, then, kid. I'm following you this time. If you need it, I can fly us there pretty quickly." She patted at a few of her pockets to make sure she was equipped for the escapade and found everything in place. She had the typically defenses for a young woman who liked to travel the city alone. Pepper spray, a small concealable knife, a stun baton, a bracelet with seven feet of interwoven nylon paracord for emergency use and a built-in safety whistle...Well, maybe she had a little more than the typical young woman.

Gabriel nods to her as he begins to head off from the room they were standing in. "No need for flying, we'll go by foot. These days, I hear it's much safer to not get spotted easily in a place where someone can screw you over easily." He wondered whatever happened to Brandon and the real Daniel, his mind wondered how Daniel's prediction came to be, and what would happen if there wasn't only one Daniel left in the universe. Time wasn't waiting for him to find those answers right now though, all that mattered right now was his and Madison's survival in this crazy city full of chaos. "I just hope we make it safely there."

Meanwhile, the team were moving Brandon in one of the trains, as they felt the incredible speed it moved by. "No escape for you, Brandon." The man in the white suit commented. "We may be the only ones on this train, but if you try to escape, you'll be ripped the shreds on the way out." That's when the lights outside began to flicker, this made the crew grow concerned. "What's happening out there?"

"I believe a superpower has found us, sir." One of the man in the white suit's teammates said. "Should we go to full power?"

"Yes. If the fool is waiting for us at the end of the line, we'll rip them to shreds."

"But won't we risk crashing? And what if Brandon's underlings are after us?"

"They wouldn't dare." The man in the white suit looks at Brandon. "He'll die along with us if that happens. Now full speed!"

"Yes sir!" As the train's speed drastically increased, they felt the train shake suddenly from something.

"Brace yourselves, we're under attack by someone, or something!"

Madison cracked her neck and nodded to Gabriel. "Yeah, you're right. It'd probably look odd for a flyer to be carrying around someone anyway." She rolled her arms and double-checked her clothing for anything loose, just in case. "Don't worry, Gabe. We'll handle what we have to. We always have." She gently pushed him out the broken door, gingerly stepping over the man who had been giving her lip when she tried to enter.

"Dick," she whispered, kicking the prone form in the shoulder.

Gabriel watched her with a risen eyebrow, before moving on ahead before she could push him again. He remembered the way to SOLO's place, but he also remembered they needed to sneak their way over there. He hoped it would be enough, but once exiting the building, Gabriel begins to take a route that Madison might not be familiar with. For one, it was filled with barely any people using it, and for two, it seemed to be a path she would not have seen on any map. Still, Gabriel could see a building up ahead and he knew that was the place. "There it is." He told her, keeping up a steady pace to not go too fast, but not go too slow either. "Anything in particular you wanna do while inside?" He asked her.

Madison followed after him, keeping an eye on their surroundings and another on Gabriel's physical condition. The path they took was unfamiliar to her, which put her a little on edge. She was pretty reliant on knowing the terrain when she was worried about coming into danger. However, she wasn't overly concerned with that, as Gabriel seemed to know the way easily enough. "Bust a few heads?" she replied with a smirk, clenching her fists. "Nah, Gabe. Followin' your lead, 'member? We'll get the information you wanted and whatever else. I don't need anythin' from SOLO."

Gabriel gives a smile over to her as she speaks. "Alright, sounds good." He responds, making his way with her inside.

"Please wait a minute." A man in a suit spoke, pressing a button as a red light passes over the two, then makes it's way back up before vanishing. "All clear, you two can pass."

"Thanks." He makes his way over into an elevator and takes out a card with some weird code on it. He inserts it into a slot and pulls it out quick, as the buttons all glow and the elevator closes on them. It begins to descend, as Gabriel leans a little on one of the sides, the feeling of using the elevator was nauseating right now, but he knew he'd just get tired out from using the stairs. Upon stopping, it opens to reveal an all blue floor, with black lines that had green things moving through them.

"It seems quieter than usual." Gabriel noted before moving on ahead.

Madison gave a half smile back to Gabriel, half-tempted to ruffle his hair again. Of course, this wasn't the time or place for her affectionate big-sistering. She simply followed him and stayed quiet, not wanting to interfere with his plans. She looked him over out of the corner of her eye as they used the elevator. She rubbed his back for a few seconds before looking onto the floor. "Quieter usually spells trouble..." she mumbled back to Gabriel, her body language visually tensing as she prepared mentally for said trouble.

Gabriel moved quietly through the place, looking around as he did so, he was being as careful as he could be. He saw a trail of a light blue liquid on the ground like they were blood spots. That's when the elevator behind them closes and locks itself, making him look back as his eyes widen. "Uh-oh." He mumbles, deciding to follow the trail, there was nothing else to do after all. They end up finding the trail leading to a dark room, the door locked, bodies could also be seen inside of it, but one didn't look human. It look more burnt-like, but it seemed to be natural looking. Gabriel realizes that it may be reptilian, a reptilian humanoid, was this a new power someone developed or... He looks back to the beginning of the trail, narrowing his eyes as he sees outlines of an oval shape, small enough for a humanoid to come out through. "You don't think it came through a rip, do you?" He asks, looking back at the body.

Madison followed Gabriel along the trail, frowning at the elevator. It didn't look like they'd be able to leave the way they came. Quietly, she remained at his side, her hand twitching toward the stun baton at the sight of the strange liquid on the floor. She peered into the room quizzically and coughed lightly at the bodies. Her face scrunched up and she simply followed Gabriel's gaze to the shape. "Who knows, Gabe. I try not to think too hard about the rips and what they mean...but it's a definite possibility." She scratched at the back of her head with a disgusted grunt and looked away from the room. "Creepy," she mumbled to herself.

Gabriel didn't feel safe at the moment, for seeing the body could mean there were more. He kicks the door a few times, seeing it not budging he narrows his eyes. "Darn it. I wanted to just take a look at the body. Like, what if it laid some eggs or something? Ugh." He quickly begins to walk away, heading further into the place, but he found that it looked more chaotic here than it did in the other areas. Lights were flickering, electricity from wires could be seen sparking out, among the many others. "What did it do here?" He speaks aloud. "Or was this done by something else? I'm not liking the feeling this is giving off." As he says this, a voice could be heard to the entire level.

"All systems will soon be deactivated. Visitors of alien origins will soon be contained and eradicated within two hours. Please evacuate the floor before the eradication process commences."
